We're going to the MIL's for Thanksgiving dinner. We'll go visit my sister over a weekend for my side of the family....well, at least the me and my baby sister part of our family.

We've done that a lot. Once we had our son, MIL liked to come over to spend some of Christmas day with him, even though all the kids go to her house on Christmas Eve (I tell you - she loves that little boy to death!). It's kind of evolved from there to include friends and other family members. I breath a somewhat sigh of relief when its over and I can...I mean he can play with his new toys when it's just the 3 of us. :lmao:

It's funny - the same thing happens when we visit my mom in Southern California. We used to go in late October / early November (that was before having a school-aged child and wanting to take him out of school for Disney - can't take him out twice). Anyhoo....I digress...we'd be walking around in shorts and t-shirts and the locals would be bundled up in their winter coats, scarves, hats and mittens!

I would love to meet my Pop Pop there. He was such a big kid at heart and he died when I was 11 so neither my husband or kids met him. He sent my parents to WDW for their honeymoon way back in the early 70's. He would have a blast with us!

Outside of family- I think Walt Disney. I would love to see his face when he sees how wonderful WDW has become since his death.

If I did my math correctly...this thread started at 9:15am Dis time and I'm rounding up a bit here but in 3 hours its about 12:15pm DIS time we have put up 6 pages...that is roughly 2 pages an hour...so at this rate we should reach 250 in approximately 125 hours...which then divided by 24 hours...is about 5 days...so ummm..that means thread V will need to be ready by Monday!!!!! LOL:rotfl:

I literally laughed out loud when I saw the calculations!!!!

Last trip we took a stick of Body Glide (get your minds out of the gutter) for the back of our heels. Tons of assorted baggies for Backpack organizational needs....we kept the autograph books, pens, etc. in one bag, bandaids...chapstick...kleenex in another. wet panchos in the gallon size...

Any other ideas?

Yes I must admit I did just do a straight calculation. I figure by 6:00ish tonight I will update my prediction with a more accurate statement of how many days I think it might be until new thread LOL...of course I'm sure it will be a bit slow around the Thanksgiving Holiday too!! No worries as I tweak out our equation I'm sure to find a more suitable answer for us Snowbirds LOL

Our Cookie Mom had her entire game room filled!

When are you scheduled to start sales? We haven't heard yet and I wonder if it's due to Hurricane Ike causing things to be delayed or backed up? Our website still lists Jan.12 (this year on a Monday) as our start date and that was last years start on a Saturday. They just asked for us to forward Cookie mom info about 2 weeks ago, But I haven't heard a thing.

I'm the cookie mom, too. I just asked our leader and our sale is going to be a month later this year. Usually it starts the second week of January and this year it isn't starting until February. I had a 1:30 meeting and, at that point, sitting hurt. So I stood for it... it worked because I was doing most of the information dissemenation. But when it was done, man, I really hurt. DH :lovestruc left work early, picked me up and tucked me in to bed, where I slept for about an hour and a half. I needed that nap to keep me up until bedtime! ;) But hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow!! (I think it was gravity on my reproductive system and it went "I QUIT NOW GO LIE DOWN!" <-- and I feel like a total whiner because everything makes the surgery out to be "oh, no big deal, up and at 'em in a DAY!!"... but then you throw in general anesthesia, which people say delays the pain for a day, plus the reaction to it, plus the fact that, hey, the doctor did carve out a piece of me and maybe I shouldn't be so hard on myself? But still. Whine. And I forgot to eat today. I never do that!!)

I'd actually like to meet the bassist of two bands I enjoy. This is not an impossible task, except the bands generally skip Detroit OR play at a venue that I'm "not allowed" to go to (I've had friends who have had friends murdered there so....). I have simple goals! ;)

better still get wiped out real quick. Doing lots of needlework, reading, sleeping. Chuck & kids have been great around the house. Watched a movie Man of the Hour with my mom. She just left so if I can convince the dogs to give space on my bed its naptime before kids get home.

Thank you very much. This is my second year doing it. I was the troop leader for a year of Daisies prior to that. Didn't like it much. This is better! My go date is Sat. Jan 17. Last year we were on vacation for that, so DD7 told everyone to wait for her - they did! :) This year we are home for the first week of sales and then gone for two weeks. I'm supposed to turn in the numbers the day after we get off the cruise! Since I'm driving home, that is not happening. Luckily, my troop leader is stepping up to input the numbers. For my DD, it means that she will only be able to sell for one week. :( We'll be going crazy that week!

Hello Snowbirds,

I have finally made it through all of the last thread and found we are on page 13 of this new one. Wow!

I wish to welcome all new Snowbirds!! I think January is looking to be an excellent month to go.

Some comments from the last few days:

My family are all looking forward to swimming and wearing our shorts down in Florida. We are going to be freezing up here and looking forward to the no snow down there.

I hope everyone is safe and getting healthy. We are going into our final months and we don't want any sick Snowbirds not enjoying their Disney trip.

Thank you for all the eye candy. It is a welcome sight to see.

Dining: I too would have thought the final list would be out. I have my own suspicions on why the different cut backs. I am wondering if too many people were complaining about the lack of walk ups available and thus cutting back on certain restaurants. On the other hand, I don't understand why they would risk walk ups compared to reservations. Lucky for my family we will only have to change one and I may try to make it for Crystal Palace at supper instead of a lunch. I also might try to get an ADR for 50's Prime Time Cafe or Sci-Fi at one of our DHS nights or change it totally to the Wave, as that is one I think my family may enjoy.

Any feed back about the 50's Prime Time or Sci-Fi or the Wave would be welcome.

Thanks for posting the Coral Reef one today- we're heading there for my hubby's birthday lunch- shhhh it's a surprise. I've heard okay things about the food but I've heard great things about the atmosphere. I think the kids will like it!

Couldn't have said it better! We really like Coral Reef when we went on our last trip. I thought the food was great (I had the steak - DH and DS both had some kind of fish). DS cleaned his plate!!!

If you are ever in my area around Christmas time and you hear way too loudly I want a Hippopatumus for Christmas blaring in some woman's car and a lady rocking out to it even louder...pretend you don't know me LOL

I bought Wall-E at work yesterday. They had a one day sale. I bought it for Christmas for the family. It is so hard to keep it a secret. Usually throughout the rest of the year, I buy it that day and we have movie night that night. Due to Christmas and our limited budget now, I am saving them now for presents. My children aren't fully understanding it yet. I cannot wait until Christmas, as we can then spend the day watching their new DVDs.

I was reading from before on this thread that there may be more perks released during the Christmas parade. I hope they release them earlier so we don't try to phone Disney or our travel agents right after.:laughing: I am still hoping for free dining.

Girl scouts- My DD isn't one, but we have already bought our cookies. I will actually be getting them tonight when I go to teach dance. One of my students is a girl scout and I helped her reach her goal of 500 boxes! I can't wait to get my cookies!

It is absolutely FREEZING here today. The little weather thingy on my laptop says it's 20 degrees! Yuck. Of course I have a lot to do today and that requires going outside. I can't wait for vacation! I will definately be bringing the shorts and bathing suits with us. It will be so nice to get out of the cold and snow!

We had a Wall-E movie night last night and I'm sure we'll be watching it again today. I was going to do the same and save it for Christmas but my son has been dying to see it and my hubby argued that we can't make him wait another month for it. (Did I mention my kids have my husband right where they want him at all times!) I didn't put up too much of an argument though because I've been waiting to see it too.

It's difficult to explain all of this economy stuff to the little ones- especially if Santa is involved. I just told my kids that Santa is bringing us money so we can go to WDW and since he is helping us with the big trip he won't be able to bring us too much more than that. I've got to get a few Disney Dollars to put in their stockings so the plan works. I also try to teach my kids the real meaning of Christmas for our family and stress that not everyone is so blessed. Before the holidays we go through our toys and pick a couple we don't play with and donate them to little boys and girls who don't have any.

Hola Everyone! My little pumpkin is home sick today.:sick: She's got a cold. We are going to bundle up and spend the day laying around and watching movies. It's a very special day today. I'm going to post about it in my PTR a little later, so you'll have to check it out.;)

So, hope my peeps are hanging tough! Life is insane here. I feel like I might loose my mind! Seems like there is about 3 months worth of work to cram into a little more than 3 weeks. But I'm still singing the "I'm going home!" song and dancing my happy dance!:banana:

Home, then Disney...and then just lots of fun in the good ole USofA until it's time to come back. And by then I know I'll be missing friends and work and ministry here. It won't be easy to say goodbye...but I don't have to think about that now!

I guess I'm goign to make my final payment today. Wow. I can't believe we are that close! How many days does that leave me? 50 days!!! 50 days!!! YIPPEEE!:cheer2:

Well, so far the only packing I've done is the kids summer stuff. It's all in one suitcase, since I'm only taking things I know for sure will fit next summer. We can get better quality clothes in the US for much less, so I plan to buy lots of clothes while we're there. The kids' winter clothes will all fit into one suitcase too. I've also been purging tons of stuff. We've given away 5 garbage bags full of clothes in the last 2 months. The kids have grown, we have shrunk (thankfully!) some and just need new stuff while in the US.

Thankfully someone will live in our apartment, so we don't have to pack up and move before we go. We just need to get personal stuff put away and that's that. And the next big thing on my list is to get the kids toys organized and gone through. I plan to donate lots to local schools and there is also a hospital that takes toys to give away to children. The kids are growing and it's time to organize. Blech.:scared1:

Well, I got to work whiney and tired and sore. My boss called it her mom mode and asked me to call the doctor's office and see what they had to say. I also love my boss.

Anyway, the nurse I spoke with said that everything is fine, so long as things aren't getting worse. I can't lift/carry anything yet without pain. I'm pretty run down. My appetite is off. She said that was perfectly normal for up to TWO WEEKS.

Man alive! I was thinking it woudl be DAYS for recovery! TWO WEEKS! Well, I guess I shouldn't be so hard on myself now, huh? She was a really really nice nurse and she did scold me appropriately (for forgetting to eat, mostly) and congratulated me (for napping!) and I feel much better now. But why is it so hard for anyone to say "yeaaaaah, recovery takes awhile, okay?"

Oh well. Two weeks takes us right through Thanksgiving. We generally sleep on the floor of DH's aunt's house but this year I insisted that we get a hotel room. I think I'm going to be very grateful I did so! Mmm comfortable sleep!

Also, I can't handle dairy at the moment and that's the basis of every Thanksgiving meal so I need to figure out what I can bring as an alternative that I can eat!!

Well, oh well. At least two weeks leaves me plenty healthy for Christmas/birthday/Disney!

Ok, guys has anyone noticed all the cjanges in times WDW has made? Lots of park hours have changed during my stay. Everything is closing earlier than expaected! I am a bit ticked off! Anyone else seeing their hours at the park cut short?

I doubt they are doing P&PP this year by the look of it. There is a post on TP&A and last week or so some dates were released. Last night, all the hours on those dates were bumped from 7 to 8 or 9pm, and Wishes were put back. That would kind of mean that there won't be a party those days. The hours I have had MK open till 11pm two night of MLK weekend and now they close at pm those night. The 2am EMH has changed to 1am. At the HS the weekend night all went to 7pm with one EMH!! I am so bumming!

I think with the discounts and 3 for 4 deal and codes, but less hours that weekend is now going to be more of a zoo that it usually is :(

I know that you posted about the Tinkerbell movie yesterday and I forgot to comment on it. We watched it Saturday night and I loved it! It was so cute and I always get teary eyed with Disney movies.

Ok. Disney messed with my hours!! For the 25th, MK is now closing at 8 instead of 9pm. Doesn't affect me since I'll be at Epcot that day. As for DHS... they are now closing at 7pm instead of 9pm on the 26th and 29th. Those are the two nights of Fantasmic that week. We will be there on the 29th. I was SO planning on seeing Fantasmic (I have the dinner pkg) and then spending another hour in the park! I'm a little ticked off right now.:mad:

Never been to 50's PT. I just don't think would like all the interaction with the waitress/waiter, that's why I stay away from that one and WCC.

We ate at Sci-Fi in May. LOVED it!! The food was good and the atmosphere was great!! Lots of fun! We will definitely go back there.
