:rotfl2: Boy would that be something!!! Of course, we're driving down leaving on a Friday to check in on Monday. They better call my cell phone!! :)

One year we were going to stay at SOG and because it was being renovated, they put us in the garden wing of the Contemporary. very cool to be so close to MK! And we only paid what we were going to pay at SOG!!!

I think I would LITERALLY wet myself right there on the phone call!!!! I will pray hard!!!!:rotfl:

One of the ladies who got the call did not believe the CM, she was going with a Magicl Gathering and they said they had to get permission from the entire group to move them so she asked for a phone number to call them back at because she thought someone in her group was playing a trick on her!

I don't think I would believe the phone caller either, but I do have caller-id...so maybe. I will still flip out. The Contemporary is my dream stay for the Monorail and the Castle...but that Garden wing and the thread about the 3 foot snake with it's nest still freaks me out!:scared1:
Time for me to hit the hay....I'm thinking tomorrow I'm going to be ill from work..cough, cough, don't I sound terribly stuffy:rolleyes1  :sad2:

Good morning Snowbirds. 10 inches of snow last night and 1/4 inch of ice. Lucky us! We are hoping for Magic Mail today! That sure would help melt the snow and ice!:thumbsup2

I just wanted to say that a while back (in the summer) I was on a diffrent Disney board and quite a few people who were booked at Pop got calls teh day before they left "asking" if they would like to be upgraded to the contemporary. So I guess you really never know with Disney...they would spin it as a magical upgrade.

I'll take it! (Of course, I'd prefer the GF or WL . . . :rolleyes1 )

Well we were AKL before, and I managed to upgrade to club level yesterday :) So happy!!

I'd definitely take an upgrade. However, it seems unlikely, because we're already staying Deluxe, and I don't think that there will be any availability in higher levels at AKL while I'm there... at least none shows at this point...
If we planned a shorter trip it would be more likely...
However, if they offered to upgrade me to something better at the Contemporary I'd take it...

Good morning everyone! Well, my very good friend on my dance team just got back from WDW yesterday! I was so jealous, but it made me even more excited for my trip. She waited in line for and hour and a half for Pixie Hollow, but said it was well worth it. She said that each fairy took time with everyone (my friend is 26 like me) and that it was the best character interaction ever. I cannot wait to do this!

Another big hit with her was TSMM at DHS. She said she laughed through the whole thing and that my DD will love it! These 43 days better fly by. As of tomorrow, I'll be at the 6 week mark! Woo hoo!

Hey Snowbirds! I finally got a chance to sit down again. I hope they don't expect to boot anyone out of their resort without making it worth their while! Upgrades are necessary!

I got home early, mixed up cookie dough, took the girls to dance, talked to my friend to plan our weekend, had dinner, made cookies, bathed kids, talked on the phone, made another treat, and cleaned up the kitchen, and now I'm exhausted!!

Since I won't be around this weekend (No internet), Happy Birthday to pamouselover, and anyone else with celebrations this weekend! Congrats on all of the Magical Mouse Mail!
I hope you all have a great weekend - don't chat too much without me!!
Thanks, it is next Friday!

I think from what I read they make you pay to upgrade. Which I found weird if they are the ones closing down resorts. I would like a upgrade, but I think my dates are safe.

If you like Rob Thomas, we all just missed him in WDW. It says he goes every year. I wonder if he is a diser? I think I am booking my next trip the same time he goes.

 10 inches!!

That's what she said! (I digress, sorry, if you watch the "Office" you'll get the joke, I'm being bad today:blush:) The worst part was the first 4-5 inches was fairly dry fluffy snow, then it sleeted for a few hours and switched back to snow for another 4-5 heavy wet inches of the white stuff. Poor Hubby was out snow blowing for an hour and a half this morning before he got the kids off to our daycare provider (no school, and I leave for work before him). So a big thanks to my big man this morning!

Just a bump for a post a few pages back-

http://www.sun7news.com/spread.php?c...bn28bsm9I56948

This is a Walt Disney Link, you guys really need to try it, and it’s very cute and fun. If you’re surprising anyone for a visit you may want to watch the video first before you show them (it would make for a good way to tell them they're going!). I don't want to give out anymore details because it would spoil the surprise, but you have to try the link. Trust me!:thumbsup2 How Disney does this is just amazing.:confused3 Be sure to send one to yourself.

My travel agent sent me this link last night. I knew what it was, but I thought it was cute of her. Probably helped that I'd emailed her a day before about cakes for celebrating (already done) birthdays... and she sent one to my mom, too! :)

Around here, there's a megastorm - rain, ice, lots of power outages (obviously not here :rotfl: ), trains late. I took the day off because I couldn't deal with all of this plus a sinus headache, and I'm glad I did. Our basement's flooded! :headache: I had to move some stuff, and bring the cats' litter box up here. Of course, the way I found out was to have a wet kitty jump up on my lap. Time to change the pants!

Hope everyone has a great (dry!) day!

My mom works somewhere out near you (er, not that MA is a big state, mind) and she's a school teacher. Her HS had no power but, as far as she could tell, the stuperintendent hadn't actually cancelled school. She just flat out refused to slide her way in to find out that things were cancelled, as has happened to her before.

(The same guy also wants to line up all the school breaks with college-style breaks. Now, here in Ann Arbor, that makes sense - the area is driven by the U's schedule since faculty and staff live near by. In Bolton, MA? No major universities or colleges nearby and not all the teachers live in the district so that their kids would be on the same schedule!)

Ready for 5pm,
Sarah ;)

Good Morning All!!!:goodvibes I have been gone from you for a few days--about 13 pages to catch up on!! I don't have time to go back--is there anything dire I should know about? Well, Wed I woke up to a full-blown nausea-inducing migraine. Oh girls, it was bad!! I ended up being 'sick' and was wasted all day. My poor kids...lots of tv and reading amongst themselves!! I was thinking maybe it was because the weather was changing-that morning was around 71 and muggy---was supposed to drop to 40 by evening. My kids are so sweet- 2 different times that day they asked, Mamma, can I pray for you? SOOOOO sweet!!! Well, I took Tylenol PM and went to bed when dh got back from church--hard sleep always helps my migraines. I woke up at 7 something Th morning to ......SNOW!!! A WINTER WONDERLAND!!! As you know, we don't EVER get any!! In fact, my town got the most in the area and was on National News!! Ha!!!!!! Isn't that great!!! We had about 6 inches!! Kids all got to skip school or go in a few hours late....hubby came home and made snowmen with the kids!! I even took the picture I think is going to be our Christmas card!!!

We still have some snow on the ground. I know some of you get it all the time, but for us it was a mini-miracle!! My middle son informed me that it was because of him we got snow. I said "What?" He said when he went to bed Wed. he saw a tiny flurry outside his window, so he opened the curtains to watch while he went to sleep and prayed for real snow. And, lo & behold, we got it!! I am sure lots of kids around here were prayin' the same thing!!! We had such a ball!!!!! The trees were covered, cars were blanketed--it was just awesome!!!
Well, we are going to do our Christmas goodies for our friends this weekend!! Ready to deliver on Monday!! We have practice tomorrow morning for our Sunday Musical-the real deal is Sunday morning. I think it's going to be awesome!! Okay, well, I missed all of you and hated to be gone, but I am glad I am back!!

Has anyone heard from Carrie? I miss her and wonder how it's going!!!

This guy's nuts! Even in Boston itself, they don't try to coordinate those breaks! And, BTW, my d's college schedule has fewer days than the 180 days required for public school students.

I heard on the news that people in New Orleans were having lots of wrecks on the bridge or around it, because of the ice. Yeah, we were all kinda dazed!! Shelly---85 up there would probably give you a heat stroke!!Ha!! Especially in December!!! I just don't like the heat at all!! I actually feel better when there is no humidity and it's under 75!! I just stay drained all summer here!!! It's the pits!! But, days like yesterday are so awesome!! We set some record for our area--I need to go back to our weather station and see what it was!!! I don't even remember any flurries except in Jan/Feb of 96 after my son was born-and it was sooo light. And then in the winter of like 88 or 89 it kinda ice-flurried,so we got to go home early. But it wasn't anything like yesterday!

You use to be able to buy the money too. I can check my disney store this weekend, and mail them to you. I use to buy lots for DS and DD to use.
But my kids are not big spenders at WDW, unlike their Mother.:lmao:
I am the one who DH put on a budget. He gave me $150.00 to spend. :rotfl:

I called both the Disney Store in Christiana, DE and the one in White Marsh, MD and they are both out. I am bummed. If any Snowbirds have a Disney Store near you that still has them and would be so kind I would love you forever! I only need $20 worth and I'd pay you through Paypal plus a few extra bucks for the trouble and postage! We made such a big deal about Santa bringing us Disney Dollars so we could go to WDW and that's why he's not bringing too many toys. I am so upset with myself for not going sooner! :sad2:
Just a bump for a post a few pages back-

This is a Walt Disney Link, you guys really need to try it, and it’s very cute and fun. If you’re surprising anyone for a visit you may want to watch the video first before you show them (it would make for a good way to tell them they're going!). I don't want to give out anymore details because it would spoil the surprise, but you have to try the link. Trust me!:thumbsup2 How Disney does this is just amazing.:confused3 Be sure to send one to yourself.
I'm trying it today!!!:thumbsup2

Well I just got done watching the 2009 Planning DVD. It's cute. They talk about the new promo and then talk about the new rides/attractions for the year. But I think that's the only "new" stuff on the DVD. It still made me so excited! 27 days!
I ordered a new one yesterday and can't wait to watch it again even if it didn't change much from '08!
I'll take it! (Of course, I'd prefer the GF or WL . . . :rolleyes1 )

Yikes what a day! :scared1:

Good morning Snowbirds!

I hope everyone is doing well this chilly morning.

Just laundry and cleaning here. . . hmm seems like I just said that a few days ago. . . probably because I did! :sad2: :lmao: When does it end??? I CAN'T WAIT FOR VACATION!!! :cloud9:
I'll still be doing this in Disney:laundy: but somehow I think I won't mind. Last time my sister and I left the kiddos with the hubbies and went one evening to do the laundry. We put it in, went to the Banana Cabana for a little something to drink:rolleyes1 and got lost on the way back. CBR at night after a drink or two can be confusing. We were walking around over bridges and in circles until we finally found our laundry building. :upsidedow

I'm still waiting for snow in Florida...Shawna can you ask your son to pray with me for it LOL!! Glad to hear you are feeling better, migraines are no fun at all and I hate dealing with them!!!!

We heard all about the snow in New Orleans and we were amazed at the stories and the sights!!!

Hey Shawna! Happy to hear your feeling better! I bet thet migraine was pressure related! We had a blast with our snow too!

The little girl across the street goes to a different school than my DD ( mom's a speech teacher...she goes to her mom's school) Well, she came over before DD had gotten off the bus and told DH and I that it was snowing...we were like "Oh, okay, yeah sure, that's interesting, Hum sure snow in Houston, DD will be home in a few minutes and you can play with her then...What in the world.... It is snowing!"

I made a big igloo thermos of hot chocolate and I had a can of whipped cream....all the kids in the neighborhood were playing and running over for a nice warm drink. All the mom's and a few dads were out too! So special...I love those memories! Thankfully DH had taken a day off and got to play with us in the snow!

Well a few hours later the snow is dying down and the kids are bathed and in fuzzy warm bed clothes....DD says I just want to look outside one more time. I decide to go out and get a couple pics of our backyard covered in snow. DD walks out too as does DS and DH. Well it was straight out of a movie. All quiet and soft sounding and all of a sudden!..WHOOSH!... these giant flakes start coming fast out of the sky and the sky is just thick with them! 'It was actually sticking to the ground! DD was scooping the snow off of our table and as soon as she did the table was covered with snow again! We ran out front and a whole bunch of our neighbors came out and we all played in the falling snow for about 30 minutes.

Yes, DD and DS stayed up way past their bedtime...but...it was so worth it!

DS2 has been talking about snow for the last 2 days! "Mamma, it snow for long time!" "It make a Big Big Snow"!

So
much
fun!!!

I hope all the Snowbird are healthy and happy. Hugs to those that need them!:flower3:

Yeah! It's Friday!

Jen~ I'll get him right on that!!! He's so cute!!! What's so odd is that he's soooo quiet most of the time. Then when he gets on something he likes----WOW the conversation is unbelievable--he almost forgets to breath!!! The info that kid has stored up is unreal---I nicknamed him the professor when he was about 3. I want to get him a pair of glasses with clear lenses and a lab coat-for him to wear when he does his projects!! That would be soooo cute!!!! He's also a Lego inventor!!! He kills me:lmao:

Becky- I think the migraines are air pressure related--I got a bad one when Ike came through. I could go to work for NASA!!! Just use me as a barometer.

Howdy Snowbirds! :cool1: :cool1:

I'm enjoying all the southern snow stories! How magical! :wizard:
We had our first flurries on Saturday--stuck to the grass but not the roads, and disappeared quickly.

I went back to the doctor this morning  ...he diagnosed an ear infection on Monday and I've been on antibiotics. The pain is mostly gone but I can hardly hear at all! :sad2: So this time he prescribed nasal spray to try to clear out the fluid. Sorry, probably TMI!

Unlike many of you, I still have a LOT of holiday shopping to do :scared1: , so I'd better get to it! Especially the things that need to be mailed! :scared: Thanks for the ideas on DS games. :thumbsup2

Ok playing catch up here. That rumor about closing.... I wouldn't worry too much about the month of January at least the first half. When I called in to book our rooms the CM had an awful time even finding open space. Between the marathon & the promo. I would think it would be later in Feb or so when things really slow down that it might be an issue.

I'm off playing hookey from work today!
The DH and I did some running around at some stores...I was returning items instead of purchasing; a first for me! We had some Disney conversations on our way home...very disappointing:guilty: My DH really HATES disney and is only going along because it's my DD's birthday trips. He said this will be his LAST time going there. So, when we got home, I opened my email to :scared1: AirTran has changed my flight times....My going home non-stop flight has been cancelled and now changed to 3 hours earlier:eek: . I called AirTran and said it was NOT acceptable. We are now on a flight leaving 7:47 out of Orlando to Atlanta, transferring planes in Atlanta and then landing at Milwaukee at 11:00pm. It will be a late night, but oh well. I was not about to leave WDW at 2:00pm especially since my DD will be 13 on the day we leave. I pressured a bit on the phone and eventually got a $174 credit from the airline for my inconveniences! SO then:idea: , could I use that credit for an upgrade to 1st class flying...yes I could, but I would have to book it 24 hours in advance! I know my DH would not allow me to travel again next year, so I don't want that credit wasted. I will have to think about this one though for awhile.:rolleyes1

We also decided that we are not going to buy La Nouba tickets in advance. Since we have no ADR's and no real plans for what parks on what days, we are going to fly by our pants....If the weather is raining or cold, we will then see if we can get tickets for La Nouba when we are there. I have been told that if you buy tickets from the box office at DTD, it's a lot cheaper as they want to fill seats...

I just wish my DH would enjoy himself more. He doesn't "get" the magic like my girls and I. He doesn't understand why we keep wanting to go back, year after year. So, I think this will be my last trip for a while.... I would love to plan an all adult ladies trip sometime. No kids, no DH's! Maybe just one time....

Just wanted to check in and say "HI"...it's still been crazy around here. I've been baking cookies for a cookie exchange tonight...10 dozen...I finished last night...now I have to start baking for our family Christmas party on Sunday...then for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day...I'm the cookie baker our family.

I have finished all the wrapping for the year...nothing needs to be shipped, since we are leaving the Saturday after Christmas for Tennessee to visit family. This trip will make my Disney trip come quicker...we are only home a 1 1/2 before we leave for Disney...that will be busy.

I recieved our Disney 2009 DVD today...can't wait to watch it this weekend.

That sounds so cute!!! Congrats on the snow ( I think:rotfl: ) It's a big deal when my sister in Kentucky talks about the snow, so I can only imagine what it's like in TX.
*Carrie checked in a few days ago. It sounds like she's doing good.

First of all - how sweet! I'm an emotional sap, so I cry at every little thing....However, I think its great that you get emotional about taking a trip to Disney with your family...Okay, I don't know if that sounds right.

I also want to say, that for the most part, I love our Disney Store employees. They're always so helpful and kind - its because they share the love of Disney with us!

OOOOOO!!!! I LOVE Carousel Center mall! I was there the day that it opened and waited in line for 2 hours to ride the carousel! I miss that mall SO much! I haven't been there in a few years. Maybe next weekend I can sneak over there. We're celebrating Christmas with my mom's side of the family next Saturday and then having brunch the next day with my dad's side of the family. As for Christmas shopping....I'm officially done! I finished up my DH's gifts today and I got my DD's Irish dancing teacher & assistant little gifts today. I'm going to start wrapping tonight. I actually enjoy wrapping gifts!

As for tearing up at the Disney Store, I started crying watching the Samantha Brown special last week! Even though we're not going at Christmastime, just looking at the park was enough for me. I started thinking about the big surprise and how excited my DD is going to be. Sometimes, I can't believe that we're actually going!

Shawna-It's so good to hear from you! Glad that you're feeling better! I've offered to make a list of people's schedule's for the end of the month so meets can be arranged. So far, I've had one response. :sad1: I really don't mind because I need something to keep me busy. I know that not everyone is comfortable posting their itinerary, so I'm doing this via PM's.

Just called our local store and they have them! They just got more in today, so there is hope! :) I already had a few for the kiddies, but I am going to pick up a little more. :thumbsup2

Yup, it's the Carousel store! I asked for my Dis-ers whether they had more, and they said yes they got lots! :) I asked if they would hold them by phone request and they said no, but when I asked if I should be alright stopping by tonight or tomorrow, her guess was that it should be fine. :thumbsup2

In my previous post I forgot to mention one other thing about Carousel Center. My mom and older sister both used to work at the Disney Store there! I used to visit them there ALL the time! My mom worked there the year we won our trip to WDW. She told her manager she had to quit (no Disney employees could win), but they held her job for her! Once we came back home, she started working there again.

I started to CRY!

Right there at the Disney Store counter!

How am I ever going to make it down Main Street if I loose it at the Disney Store? So all of you going in early January...If you see a woman totally bawling on the Magical Express, or Main Street, or heck at the Check-in Counter at the airport....It's just me and I'm REALLY REALLY HAPPY! :cloud9:
My mom said she teared up every time she and my dad drove under the welcome arch when they took us there as kids. She mentioned that during the trip from the car to the park she always thought she was going to pee her pants she was so excited (her words, not mine - :rotfl: ).

I think I'm going to shed a few tears too, just because I am so happy to be able to enjoy this with my kids. I am SO grateful to be in a financial position to do this for us.

My only regret - not to totally hijack the post - is that DH isn't the least bit excited about going. He is totally humoring me, and he honestly doesn't understand why I want to take the kids there. I haven't been there since I was about 11 - so three decades or so ago - and I remember it as being, literally, magic. I want my kids to experience that for themselves. pixiedust: I just wish DH would catch a little of the pixiedust: himself. :sad2:

Well 2 more weeks and we are hitting the road to the WORLD :cool1: . It's been an exciting week. Wednesday night I got my nurses pin at pinning. Thursday NIGHT I GRADUATED with my BSN  party: :jumping1: and by this time on the 26th we'll be halfway to DISNEY !!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I'm a little excited.

Congratulations! The country really needs more young, enthusiastic nurses!

That's EXACTLY when I started crying! It gave me goosebumps. I don't care when my next trip is, as long as it's when the parks are all decorated!
I was so excited when I discovered that the Lights will still be up on 1/4 - we have an ADR at DHS just so we can see them! (OK, I don't celebrate the holiday, but I love the decorations!)

My mom said she teared up every time she and my dad drove under the welcome arch when they took us there as kids. She mentioned that during the trip from the car to the park she always thought she was going to pee her pants she was so excited (her words, not mine - :rotfl: ).

I too am gland that we can still do this trip. But I know how you feel about DH - mine has been a few times, the last one reluctantly. This time he just said NO. So it's a girls-only trip, just D and me. Am I a horrible wife for saying that I'm really excited about this mother-daughter time with my (almost) grown daughter??

It's horrible to say but I dont live that far (35min) from Carousel and I hardly ever go there unless I have to. It just seemed like for a while it was going to the birds (not the snowbirds) but now that they are building on to it things have really improved so I dont mind going as much as I used to. Congrats on finishing all of your Christmas Shopping . I still have a couple more presents to pick up but I hope to finish up this weekend, hopefully.

Okay so while at the Disney store they had a ton of stuff on sale. 50% off lots of clothes and toys were 25-40% off. Well, I found a Disney shirt for each memner of the family ...except me! I found myself a little tote bag!:yay: I'm going to wrap them all in one box with the Disney bucks and a note telling the kids that "Surprise....We're going to Disney" tucked under the shirts! The sales lady asked me if the Dollars were for the park and I told her my plans for the surprise, She got so excited for me she actually jumped up and down a little!:cool1: As she was telling me how cool a surprise that would be and how excited my kids were going to be her co worker was counting out Disney dollars and BAM!!! It hit me! I mean smack dab in the middle of my heart!

So those of us going in the beginning of the month, I think we need to schedule a meet! I know Soleil has talked about it, are you still interested?

So, lo and behold, I also got some Magic Mail today....I needed that after my talk with my DH....

But I have a question for everyone that has their ME tags...years past, my tags had the abbreviation for where we were staying...CBR or Pop...this year mine says AK but then says Pop Classic. :confused3 any clue why the AK woudl be the initials?

AK is probably the "section" of the whole WDW resort that you are grouped in. Last year when we stayed at CSR our tags said AK. They grouped POP, CSR, and AK all onto one bus.

Mine says EP this time because CBR is in the Epcot section of WDW.

Hope that makes sense! :goodvibes

:sad2:

I'm trying it today!!!:thumbsup2

I ordered a new one yesterday and can't wait to watch it again even if it didn't change much from '08!

Yikes what a day! :scared1:

I'll still be doing this in Disney:laundy: but somehow I think I won't mind. Last time my sister and I left the kiddos with the hubbies and went one evening to do the laundry. We put it in, went to the Banana Cabana for a little something to drink:rolleyes1 and got lost on the way back. CBR at night after a drink or two can be confusing. We were walking around over bridges and in circles until we finally found our laundry building. :upsidedow
I go to the Christiana in Delaware! :thumbsup2
Hope you got some. I am going to Lancaster tommorw, I could check there.

Wow you guys have been busy. Sorry, new job at work and the Halloween season at the Haunt then we all getting sick in November has had me hopping. But I am now sooooooo in Dis Mode now and cannot wait for my WDW time!!!

Some changes.....we're flying. SW seems the best option now. and only $100 more dollars then driving.....so the wear and tear on car and time to drive is worth the extra $100

No DDP. Going to do a combination of Room food, CS and splurge on only a couple of TS.

Did book the lunch time at Tusker House to get the Finding Nemo prefered seating time. Anyone else trying this???

And now just counting the days.....until I am in my happy spot again!

I'm up for a meet but I can't do anything on the Sun 11th we will just be getting there, giving hubby his favorite meal at Sci Fi & I will be in MK to ride Haunted Mansion over & over when its dark. LOL If anyone wants to hook up for a quick chat or ride some rides together in MK works for me.

I too am in same boat w/ DH he's just not "into" Disney. Oh he loves it down there when we get there, riding rides watching kids have fun etc. But he has habit of only looking at the "cost" of being there. SO in concession to him I am giving up my character breakfasts. He "did" the numbers & said we could have almost 4 meals for the 4 of us for the cost of those 2. I am bummed but he s right.:rolleyes1

In exactly 6 weeks, I will be flying to WDW! Oh my goodness! I still can't believe it. Totally amazing.

Well, I got all of my gifts wrapped last night. It took me 2 and a half hours, but it's all done! Even thought I'm done shopping, my DD and I are going to the mall today with my big sis. We were going to go shopping on Elmwood Avenue, but it's too cold. Elmwood is filled with cute little boutiques and very unique stores. It's very cute, but again, it's in the 20's today. No thanks! I'll take the heated mall thank you very much! I hope that you all have a pleasant Saturday!

I can't do the 11th at all, since it's marathon day and my parents and bro are still going to be around! But we're around through the 16th.

Back from shopping. The mall was starting to get super busy when we were leaving. I'm very glad to be back home.

WoW what a busy day! We had a great dress rehersal this morning at Church and I have gotten things ready for the Youth Group Christmas party tonight. I have put off and put off my final exam and tomorrow morning is my last chance...so I'm going to get up early and do that, then get ready for church, and in the evening is our church play and then our choir party. I'm going to be one happy camper on Monday when I have nothing to do but finish up Christmas cards and wrap presents LOL

We're going to look at Christmas lights tonight. At the fairgrounds by us, they have 2 miles of lights you can drive through. Then, you can park and walk through more lights! They also have a magician, live reindeer, vendors and of course, Santa! It should be a lot of fun. The past few years we've gone to Niagara Falls, Canada to look at their Festival of Lights. We always have to park really far away and we always freeze to death! The falls are always beautiful, but it's the same light displays year after year. We decided to try something new and different. Time to go get bundled up!

Good evening everyone. I had to work today. This is the first Saturday during this holiday season that I've had to work....and it wasn't terrible! No body made me extremely mad, not even one of the supervisors that I can't stand.

So now I'm home and have to come up with an idea for dinner for me and grandma since the rest of the family decided to go to a birthday party and eat there. Wow..thanks guys!

As for a meet ealier in the month...yeah the 11 is a no go with me. I'm there through the 15. Is there a day that would work really well with the majority...if you're interested of course?

Well, we made it back from our holiday lights trip. We sat in traffic for an hour and a half just waiting to turn into the fairgrounds! It was fun, but not worth the wait. We also took a sleigh ride pulled by reindeer. It was $7/adult and kids under 7 were free. For $14 we took one (very small) lap. At least our DD had a good time!

Hey all,
Hubby and I just got back from an overnight trip to Branson. They have outlet malls (and the only 2 Disney Stores in Missouri-1 "outlet" and 1 regular store). The boys stayed with my mom (the first time for the 2 yr old) last night then she took them to MIL's today. We aren't away from them often, so Drew was a bit weapy at times, but all went well. They were evidently asleep by 8pm last night!!! NOT FAIR! They won't go to bed until after 10 for us most weekend nights!

We had an awesome trip. It's about a 4 hr drive. Got down there about 1030 last night. Got alot of shopping done, although not done yet. I was so excited to be at the Disney Store. Everytime the "voice" would come on with the music, I'd look at Andy...we both felt like we should be in Disney in a Queue somewhere! Got some good deals but was a little disappointed with some stuff. They didn't have alot of the little clearance stuff like they used to. We were wanting spinners and they didn't have any of those. And the outlet prices were the same as the regular store prices, and the regular store had a bigger selection. But we did get the Mickey wreath for $14-too cute!! And lots of snuggly sweet time for me and hubby!

6 weeks from now we'll be in our hotel for our first night at CBR!!!!! (Unless they close us like the rumors are saying and we get that free upgrade to AKL or WL).

Hi Gang!!!

We've been busy getting our house ready for the family coming for Christmas! yesterday I cut my hair off :scared1: I LOVE it!! About 6- 7 inches fell to the floor. The hair stylist was excited because I told her to do what she thinks suits me... she did great. I feel 20 lbs lighter! She did a "Jennie Maccarthy" bob. She styled it three ways while in the salon, curly, straight with curve, and straight as straight can be! The best hair appointment I ever had! First thing my mom said was - that will be perfect for Disney- quick to style and light and fresh  Is that all we think about!
Dh loves it!

So I have a QUESTION:
We have ME tickets and tags.
Should we expect more mail? We have a package.

Congrats on the haircut! My hair was down to my waist and I had 12 inches cut off right before our May trip! That was a bit scary, but it was for a good cause, I donated it to Locks of Love for kids with cancer. My hair was then well above my shoulders. It is now growing back in and I can't decide if I should get it cut again or let it grow long again!

We should get more Disney mail! It should give you all the details of your package and so on. Hopefully it's coming soon. :wizard:

We're supposed to be at 55 today, but MAN is it windy!! We got home the other night and our gas grill was in the middle of our backyard upside down! Don't know if its repairable or not. We have the worst luck with those things. Probably because hubby never puts them back against the house. He leaves them in the middle of the patio and the wind just take them. This was the thread I was on. It was toward the end-it doesn't move very fast and is not all that helpful, but I love to look at the pix!! One poster said she got the one you can order at the podium (which was what I was planning on doing) tasted like a stale twinkie covered in Reddi Whip. I'll pass on that and pay the $21 or whatever it is for a nicer one. I just hate that the ones shaped like Mickey are like $45! WAY more than I want to spend! Hi everyone! I'm back from my girls' weekend at the cabin. It was beautiful, fun and relaxing! We had some interesting weather - very cold and windy Friday, beautiful on Saturday and then this a.m. woke up to freezing rain, wind, and then turned to snow. Blizzard like conditions. So we packed up a little early so we could go slow. The closer we got to home, the better the weather. Here it was just raining. Now it's SUPER windy, icy snow. Supposed to get below zero and stay cold. Hmmm. Should have just stayed at the cabin. :) The people who own it had it all decorated for Christmas, tree and all! At first I thought it was for us, but they are going up there to spend Christmas.

Anyway, it was fun, and I'm more relaxed so it was worth it. My kids got to eat out a couple of meals, spend a day with Grandma and Papa, DH took them to see Santa (I said it was okay, because we're running out of days we can both go). Now it's back to reality - :laundy:

Congrats to Tracy BSN! Way to go!

Sorry about the mixup on the b-days snkymom and pamouselover. OOPS!

Hope all of you are feeling better who have been sick! Maybe all this magical mail will make us all feel better!! I'm still waiting for mine, but I just paid off the package last week.

I had the long pretty hair and got compliments everyday, but when I looked in the mirror I felt dragged down by it. So I know what you mean about that! It's hair and it grows back and you can do so much with it. Mine if very thick and curly, so to see it straight was shocking. I can't beleive it's my hair.

Evening, Snowbirds! It was a cold, windy, and dreary day here. The wind outside is just HOWLING!

We went to Disney on Ice last night -the 100 Years of Magic. Honestly, it was "ok". I didn't think the skating was all that great - definatly not up to the level I would think of Disney. DS liked it - he didn't know we were going and didn't figure it out until we got into the arena.

We hung around home today. Watched some football - watched the Colts BARELY squeak by a 0-12 team!!:scared1: Had dinner with some friends and are now getting ready to settle in for the evening - the Survivor finally is tonight!! :cool1:

I'm so excited for everyone getting their magical mail. Can't wait to get ours. I'm thinking it'll be sometime this week. Our TA was on vacation last week - in DISNEY!!

I've always been one that's enjoyed having longer hair - always thought it looked better with my face, and understand completely when you say you fet dragged down by it. However, I'm amazed at how much I love my shorter hair. I keep mine about chin length now - only grow it longer when I want a perm (I do the spiral perms - they're the only ones that don't make my hair look like it belongs on a poodle:lmao: ).

Afternoon Snowbirds!

Just got the rest of our outside decorations up. Better late than never. Been waiting on a day that it was not freezing!

DS9 has been on Google Earth for about an hour looking at WDW and all the parks and rides. Little does he know he will be there very shortly!! :cool1:
Haha we gave up, and did not put everything outside this year!
I now get why people put it up so darn early!

Let me know what you decide (and thanks for the contact info)!!

THANK YOU! Same one I was sub to at one time!
Yikes- kinda pricey but then again they were real reindeer! :lmao:

:lmao: :rotfl: Wouldn't that be nice!

I was thinking about a cake for my hubby but I can't decide. We changed our ADR's and are now having a birthday breakfast at 10:50 at Chef Mickeys- not sure if that's kinda early for cake or not:confused3 . I also heard you could have one delivered to your hotel room but then that means we have to be sure we are back at a certain time. Anyone know what kind of cakes you can get at Chef Mickey's?

I bet you are just about ready to burst at this point! I can't wait to hear the surprise Christmas morning stories from everyone!

chef mickeys will give him a place mat and a cup cake for free.

I gave mine to Locks of Love last December. This year I didn't have enough:(
It does feel great!

My DD had long hair (and bangs) since she was born and it grew so fast, after she finished kindergarten, she said, I want to cut my hair and give it to people who need wigs. We had a couple people we knew going through chemo, and we had explained about it to her. So she cut her hair from her waist length, up to her chin! Donated it and got a great postcard in the mail from locks of love. She was so psyched!! Now her sister wants to do it!

Haha we gave up, and did not put everything outside this year!
I now get why people put it up so darn early!

That would be us, standing in the trees and on the roof in October!

I donated my hair to Locks of Love a few years ago. It hasn't gotten that long again since though. I like to keep my hair medium length, so waiting for it to grow out long enough to donate takes forever.
It was nice though, and for some reason I haven't gotten a decent haircut since. Somehow they always mess it up, even though I go to different stylists... it's ridiculous.

Good evening everyone! Just got back from the Christmas Program that our church's school does. I video tape it and my father does the sound for it. So after standing on scaffolding for over an hour and a half, I'm pooped! So it's a frozen pizza night here and getting ready for the week ahead.

Hey Snowbirds!!

Busy couple of days here! I've been baking cookies for DS's preschool program. I think I'm going to puke if I sample another cookie :scared: Seriously!! Just thinking of them is making me sick.

I get to meet with my TA tomorrow to pick up our travel documents. I am so excited :goodvibes

Things are going to be crazy for the next few weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to check in regularly.

We're going to be headed back to the Pittsburgh area on the 26th. I'll wave as I pass by you Pittsburgh Snowbirds. :wave2:

Here's my updated countdown.

2 days til DS's holiday program at preschool
11 days til Christmas
12 days til Pittsburgh
16 days til DH's and best friend's b-day
17 days til Ddad's b-day
18 days til New Years and the Rose Bowl . . . We are PENN STATE!
22 days til we fly to Florida
23 days til DISNEY!!

There was another snowbird looking at cakes for a birthday at Disney...just wondering if anything was decided??? (I'm sorry I can't remember who it was...Monny? Sharadock maybe???) I was on the cake board earlier and someone posted a nice looking chocolate cake from Coral Reef for $21. That's about my speed but I haven't made a decision yet! Anyone, Anyone...? :worship:

I was also asking about it, too... My TA gave me the phone number and the cake thread told me what my options were. I'll have to call, soon, and see what we can get. My mom's birthday is 12/28 and mine is 1/4... and we figure we'll do the cake thing at dinner on 1/11. Close enough, right?!

+++

I can't decide if I'm getting better or not. I'm not nearly as congested, but I'm still run down. it could well be the holiday/winter blues, however, since we did go for much of the past week without sun and it is a busy time of year (and my best friend has been a total flake and my mom picked a fight and and and...). Of course, the reminder that I'm going to be somewhere warmer (okay, it hit 40 today) and sunnier (...probably!) in less than 4 weeks is certainly encouraging.

I didn't leave the house today, but it was kind of nice to kick back and relax (and really really sleep in). Of course, I made dinner, cleaned the kitchen, did the laundry... watched TV, practiced my Guitar Hero, and cross-stitched.

Especially since tomorrow's going to be a pretty busy day at work... hopefully the last, in terms of people being in and out of my office before the winter break. (This is the time when the staff starts mentally shoo'ing everyone away from the office ;))

But at this point, I am really really REALLY looking forward to Disney. REALLY REALLY. And I don't even know what park we're going to on our first day, yet!!!

I was talking about it a while ago. I believe I can order a 6 inch cake when we check in at Chef Mickey's- that's what we decided to do since there's only 4 of us. I definitely want to sing Happy Birthday and have a special moment with the cake, but DD won't expect anything super-special or personalized. Just having a cake will be great!

The prices for the really personalized or fancy cakes is just too ridiculous for my taste! Plus I'm probably going to get a supermarket cake for the room, too. She's ready to start peeking, so I'm going to cut it short!

Good Evening!! Just got back from our play...it went perfectly...well almost but nothing the audience noticed...I loved it, I really enjoyed my part.

Now I can breathe easy, one more week of school and then I'm off for two whole weeks.

I have to get cards in the mail and get gifts wrapped and sent but that feels doable now LOL and I have a Christmas party that my school organization I'm sponsoring is putting on for Big Brothers and Big Sisters but other than that a relatively slow week LOL!!!!

Hope you all have a great evening!

If so I'd be soooo grateful :goodvibes if you could give me the email address, the only one I found didn't work...:confused3

I donated my hair 2 years ago...14 inches went to Locks of Luv. I'm starting to grow it again...should be long enough this summer. I just get a trim every couple of months. I usually wear it in a ponytail...when I first cut it I wear it down...but I really don't want to be bothered with having to do my hair...very low maintainence.

Egads! Definitely the busy time of year!

My DH called his parents last night. It was -3 at their house (and we were at 44). My mom emailed me last night... no school for her again today, as one of the towns in her district still doesn't have power and the main road through another town is impassable.

Almost makes tomorrow night/Wed am's predicted 2-4" of snow seem do-able! And the fact that it was 50 when we got up at 37 when we got to work seem Not So Bad.

Your side of the state is beautiful but the snow would make me bonkers!!

It is depressing to get up at 50 (6:30am) and make it to work at 38 (8am) with a good stiff breeze.

The current track of tomorrow night's storm is such that it will screw up morning rush hour on Wednesday. Good thing I live on a bus route - I'll get to work whenever the bus can slide its way there!!

DH was complaining about how January's are always so cold and how he's not looking forward to it. I did remind him we'll be in Florida for a week and even if it's not super-balmy, it sure beats a week in Michigan in January!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!:santa: Wow!! Busy weekend!!!! Well I had kids over for Friday and Saturday, then my little boy suddendly got a runny nose, coughing and tad of fever. Could it be that we got SNOW, 30 and 40 degree days and the next day it was 71 and humid? Hmmmm...YEAH:sad2: I even feel kinda stopped up now.Texas. What weird weather we have!!
Well, me and dd worked on our goodie tins yesterday. I did 2 pans of fudge and tooooonnnnss of cookies! We have 22 tins to deliver today!! Man, I am seriously thinking of not doing it next year!! It took us 2days off & on to do it.Especially since we had kid company!!
Our church play yesterday went wonderfully!! I am so glad-very moving!!I must say I did well-I didn't fall off the steps going up the platform or anything, so I was hyped!!
I really gotta get my packing list/snack list organized and start getting a few things here and there. If not it'll seem like lots of $$$$ to do at once--and the kids will be curious. So...that's what I have to do this week-also, I have some reading I want the kids to do. They are on break-but just about 20 minutes a day in their History. So, we'll see how that goes:laughing: Hope you all have a blessed day. Hey!! Is Carrie here yet?!?!? Wasn't it today. I know her times are way diff from ours, but I just wondered if she is on state soil giving it a kiss yet?!!!!

Carrie- I hope that you and your family have a safe trip back to the States! How exciting!

Speaking of hair, I've never cut my DD's hair and she's 6! She's never even had a trim. She's been asking for one and my DH thinks I should just go and get it cut. I told him he's crazy! Her hair is very curly (like spiral curls) and it's long. When it's wet, it pretty much touches her bum. My hair was the same way. I didn't get a full out hair cut until I was 10 yrs old and I cut it into a bob! My mom cried as did my hair dresser (my mom's best friend). I'll probably take her to get a trim soon. I'm talking like 1/4 of an inch. I LOVE long hair! There have been times I get sick of my hair and I'll cut it right above my shoulders. However, being on a dance team, you pretty much need long hair. We wear it down and glamorous! :)

Does you DH run outside in the winter?

He does! He ran a 10K race in Holly (near Flint) on Saturday and then ran 16 MILES yesterday. It's kind of a good thing for the Disney marathon to be in earlier January... sure, it's snowIER now (we get not a huge amount of snow over here) but it's warmer than January. We do run weeks of temps under 20 and windchills of less than zero during Jan.

This year, let's just say I've boiled more water for hot chocolate and had more towels waiting at the door for his return. Last week, he did a 21 mile run in *sleet* after a day of snow. Runners are crazy, man!

I think he's kind of crazy, actually.

But there was that "I want to run a marathon!" "oh yeeah? well i want to go to Disney!" conversation and... he gets to run a marathon at Disney. Ah, compromise!

(Marathon training is a LOT of work for both the runner and his spouse - he's gone for about 3 hours on long run days and up to two during the shorter run days. Luckily, he's got a ton of vacation, and does a lot during the work day!)

Hooray for long, glamorous hair! ( I wish there was a fabulous hair smiley.:cutie: ) I kept mine in a short bob from 7th grade until my senior year. Then I cut it once more when I was 18. I cried hysterically. I know I will have to cut it eventually, as I would probably look silly with this hair at 60, but right now I enjoy it very much.

How are we telling the boys??? :yay: :yay: Well they are going to open their "Santa gifts" first. Usually all the gifts are just scattered under the tree and about half of them are from us and half from Santa. This time they are going to open all the Santa gifts and then there will be one small box tucked away back behind the tree and we will give it to them last and tell them that we could really only get them one gift this year and they have to share it!! I will tell them to open it slowly. . . We'll see how that goes. . . It will be in layers. . . The first thing they will see is something that says something like - "We hope you like this gift - We love you - And you might need these. . ." under that will be 2 pair of Disney sunglasses. . . Then it will say - "And these. . ." under that will be 2 Disney shirts. . . Then it will say - "And these for the plane. . ." under that will be 2 Star Wars books. . . Then it will be the big reveal (as if they haven't figured it out by now) - "Because we are going to Disney in 26 DAYS!!!" Under that will be a Disney Countdown Calendar and it will tell them what we are doing on each day!! :cool1: I can't wait!!

If anyone has any updates or changes please let me know. I will probably be updating and posting the lists today. I update & post every 30 pages, so if we reach page 150 today I will be posting! :yay: How about that beginning of the month Snowbird Meet, any details yet? What about the All Stars Meet, anything there? I am working on the CBR Meet, still waiting to hear back from 2 people on that.

Trixie - Did you call Disney about your ME stuff?

After all that holding, the CM told me to cross the names off the tags and write them correctly! :furious: Not good enough. I made her give me the ME number directly.

So cute! Are you planning on making a video for all of us? Please, please....

My hair's really curly, and I have a long neck, so with the wrong haircut, I do look like a poodle! paw: I always had to tell them to make it longer in the back!

D has now convinced me to try it long, so I've been letting it grow - people tell me it makes me look younger. I'll take it!

How are we telling the boys??? :yay: :yay: Well they are going to open their "Santa gifts" first. That sounds wonderful! What a great idea!

Well, yesterday was my birthday, which was fun. DH gave me a Tinkerbell card that plays "You Can Fly", and Disney Dollars! He's so cute! D sent me a text message timed at 12:01 AM saying, "Happy Birthday! I'm the first one to say it!" She's coming home tonight - I can't wait!! And then we'll figure out when really to celebrate my birthday!

Weather-wise, it's going to hit 60 today, and then back down to the 20s later this week. :cold: But we're lucky - we have power. There are still lots of people north & west of us who don't, and some won't get it back until Friday! :scared1:

And I counted: This week has 5 workdays, then the next 3, the following 3 and then
I'm at Disney!! :mickeyjum

chef mickeys will give him a place mat and a cup cake for free.

A cupcake and placemat are good enough for me! :thumbsup2 They asked me his name when I made the ressie's.:confused3 We have 10 people in our gathering and I would have to order a pretty decent sized cake- too much $$$ right now.

I am about ready to burst!! :yay: 10 more days. . . :hourglass
These are going to be THE loooooooongest 10 days too! Hope they fly by for you! :wizard:

For all of you doing the Fantasmic Package - have you heard that you now enter at the regular entrance??? This is the second time in about a week that I have heard this ~
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2032827

I'm not sure about all this. :confused3 We've never seen Fantasmic or had the package before so I don't know what to compare it to. I guess it means I won't have to wait in line so early but still have seats guaranteed? Only difference is I get in the bigger line rather than a smaller one? So is the package still worth it? I just don't want to have to stand in line for 2 hours.

Boy people sound sort of snotty there! I was just wondering if they restrict the seating area or not? I would guess that would be the last section filled anyway, since it's off to the side. I might just send MIL and SIL in early anyway since they walk real slow. They can get our seats! Our dinner ressie is really early, I might call and see about this, b/c I don't really care to eat at 3:30 just to get reserved seating if I am not going to get it! I have to call and correct a spelling on one of the names anyway, maybe I can find out more. If so, I'll post.

Weather wise - IT SUCKS! Yesterday morning, we had to leave the cabin early because it was getting so bad, but here at home it was 39 and raining. The front moved through. Today the high won't get above ZERO! It's so windy!! A lot of the roads were icy on the way to work, so it took me an extra 15 minutes (usually 30). Love MN weather!! I hope it's like this while I am in WDW!! It did that last year, it was below zero the whole time we were on our cruise, and we were laughing. But then it stayed cold after we got back too! :(

Just wanted to say "Good Morning All". I'm off to get ready to go study at the WSU Library and then take my Calculus final this evening. Hopefully I pass...it's the last class I need for my math minor and then I will be certified to teach K-8 Math...yah.

Now I just have to pass...I did register for it again next semester...just in case.

I hope that they will get here sooner since the bookings are down and they shouldn't be so busy. I would hate to not have them when we are there. I guess I can print them out if absolutely necessary, but I SO want the printed maps.

For those of you who ordered them, how long did they actually take?

Mine came really quickly! I think it was only 2 weeks or less! Now I wish I'd waited because we get to do more now that we extended our trip. Oh well, they're pretty cool especially in color! (I'm too cheap on ink and have a cruddy printer so it would have been in black and white if I printed it at home.) I would love to start our packing, but having never been before in January (we have always gone in mid-April during school vacation), I have no idea how to pack and what to pack. I know that about 2 weeks prior to leaving, I'll start monitoring the extended forecast for Orlando, but I am so confused about what to expect. D and I would be more than happy to do capris every day, but is this realistic (we are going the 22nd - 26th)? I know we should pack a few pairs of jeans and some long sleeves, along with a fleece jacket, but should be do short sleeve shirts and shorts too? Is a coat necessary? I have even been told to bring gloves/hats. :confused3

I don't want to overpack (which H says that I am famous for no matter where we go - LOL). I guess I can start with our toiletries and things like that, but would like to get some of this done over the upcoming school vacation between Christmas and New Years. Any help would be appreciated!

Yes to all of the above LOL...okay I admit I wasn't much help!!

I have acclimatized to the weather down here so I'll be in jeans and have long sleeve shirts, t-shirts, and sweatshirts with me. I will definitely have a jacket or hoodie in my backpack with my ponchos. As far as gloves and hats...not quite sure if you are from the north you'll find you'll need them.

Here in the south, our weather is somewhat similar to Orlando. (You never know what you are going to get.) For example, this week's prediction is 50-70-45-45-70.

Just as Jen said, I would suggest packing a bit of everything. Lots of layers. I'm going to wear longsleeve shirts under shortsleeve shirts. If it gets too hot, I can just shed the LS shirt. I'm also bring a wintercoat, just in case. I plan on wearing jeans everyday, but that's just me.

You can track the Orlando winter weather on accuweather.com. It gives a forecast 15 days out. I've been watching it everyday. It seems that the high is in the 70's and the low is in the 50's.

so me and my DD's walked (yes walked about a mile in -30 weather in waist deep snow) to my sister's house to hang out with her and her kids for the morning! Just got home a while ago and got my 2 resting - they are both wiped!

I have 35 days until I see the warm Florida sun!

I would love to start our packing, but having never been before in January (we have always gone in mid-April during school vacation), I have no idea how to pack and what to pack.

I see you're from New England. You might think 60 degrees is warmer than someone from Florida. We pack capris, shorts, shirts to layer (t-shirts and sweatshirt), one jacket, one pair of jeans. Since we are driving, we'll wear warmer clothes on the way down and then we'll have them if needed. I'll only have gloves since I'll have them in the car. I do not intend to use them!
We were there around the 20th last year and it was cool and rainy/misty. I was comfortable in capris, t-shirt and a cardigan. A rain jacket would have been a little better.
Good luck.

Oh, yes! Don't listen to me if you are used to colder weather! :rotfl2: I freeze in 60 degree weather.

That's one of the reasons I decided to do away with the Fantasmic package. We're not on the dining plan, it's more expensive and doesn't take the Tables in Wonderland card. If I don't even get a different entrance, I'll take my chances. We'll do Brown Derby for lunch instead, and either bring in or buy dinner in the theater.

Well, if you're coming from New England, won't you have a coat & gloves with you anyway? I'm flying out of Logan. I've got a ski jacket that's basically a three-in-one: zip out fleece lining and shell. I'll wear them together to get on the plane, and then separate them, giving me a fleece jacket (it be worn by itself), and a waterproof shell for any predictions of rain. And the gloves will be stuffed into the pockets of the shell. (And a benefit that H can't argue with - it's not packed! :rotfl2: )

Mine came really quickly! I think it was only 2 weeks or less! Now I wish I'd waited because we get to do more now that we extended our trip. Oh well, they're pretty cool especially in color! (I'm too cheap on ink and have a cruddy printer so it would have been in black and white if I printed it at home.) I'm thinking of using the maps as background paper for scrapbooking (at some point). :)

That's a cool idea. Also, don't forget to pick up all the free guidebooks and pamphlets all around the World for your scrapbooking. I've used them just to make photo albums (before scrapbooking), and I would cut out the little descriptions from the brochures as a lead-in to the photos about the activity or attraction or show. They are really handy.

Do you think they'll get it when they see the sunglasses? :goodvibes

oops I would be one of those 2 people- I'm such a slacker sometimes! I'm pming you asap!:rolleyes1

I think they might get it when they see the sunglasses. DH doesn't think they'll get it until they see the - "you might need these for the plane" part! We'll see. . . :yay: :yay:

Still waiting on that PM. . . :hourglass :rotfl:

I'm not sure about all this. :confused3 We've never seen Fantasmic or had the package before so I don't know what to compare it to. I guess it means I won't have to wait in line so early but still have seats guaranteed? Only difference is I get in the bigger line rather than a smaller one? So is the package still worth it? I just don't want to have to stand in line for 2 hours.

I hope we would still have our seats reserved. I would assume so anyway or what good would it be. . . I think it is still worth it, especially when they are only showing it twice a week. We'll find out shortly! :yay:

Dream Along With Mickey (Magic Kingdom) will not be offered 1/6/09 - 1/20/09.

Martinique Quiet Pool (Caribbean Beach Resort) closed 1/26/09 - 1/30/09 for refurbishment. Guests may use the other 5 village pools and the main pool.

FYI - saw these in the mousesavers newsletter. Some may already know about these. The other ones I saw in there I already knew about, but these were new to me.

Thanks for the reminder - I usually save everything - tickets, brochures etc. Before I started scrapbooking, they just ended up in a pile, eventually getting tossed.

We were down there at the end of the month last year. It was -30 here when we left & 40 above in Fl that night when we got there. The first 2 nights we were there were the only cool nights. We wore our sweatshirts under our lightweight spring type coats. After that we only wore sweats at night. DD & I wore capris most of the time. DS & DH wore shorts during the day & "swish" type pants at night. This year planing on about the same type of clothing. I typically wore layered tanks with over shirt during the day. Would put on the shirt in airconditioning. DD layers EVERYTHING now so I will just plan on that for her, leggings, etc. DS & DH have their personal thermostats stuck on high & are always hot so they will pretty much wear shorts.:rotfl:

I saw that Dream Along with Mickey a few days ago. I added it to the list on the fist page. Last I heard though it was the Barbados quiet pool that was being refurbed. Thanks for the new info! :goodvibes

Everybody takes the weather a bit different, but going by our past trips (this is our third January in a row) you should need no worse than Capri’s, t-shirts, windbreaker and a sweatshirt. I am no where close to being as warm blooded as my Husband (who is in shorts when it's above 50) but I have never needed hats and mittens. I have packed a single pair of jeans each year but have yet to need them. It's been in low 60's and raining all the way to 85 and sunny. It can get a bit cold at night but with the much shorter park hours you tend not to be out much after 8:00 or 9:00pm. Bottom line, pack clothes that will make you comfortable (you would be pretty safe estimating a temp. range of 60-80 degrees during the day and 45-65 at night). Of course it could be 40 the whole week and blow my post out of the water! Good luck in your planning!:thumbsup2

I found this great laminating stuff they sell at Michaels where I can now save all that stuff and put it in my scrapbook and not have to worry about it...I love doing that with my tickets!

I forget who was planning her DH's b-day at Coral Reef, but I just ran across this on the DIS main page:

Recent Dining Updates:

The Coral Reef Restaurant at Epcot will not be doing diver signs and personalized menus in 2009.

Sorry!
As you can see, I'm actively engaged in work avoidance today!

Shelly (and other suprisers)- How are you planning on telling your children about Disney? I'm so excited for all of you!

We're still trying to figure this out. At first, we were just going to wake her up the morning we leave and tell her what's going on. Then, I had an idea of making a book about Princess Madison and it was her wish to go to WDW. On the last page, it would say something like "And today, her wish is coming true!" We were thinking of having her read it out loud while we taped her or something. Then, idea #3. My uncle owns a costume shop in Orlando. He has 4 princess costumes that closely resemble the Disney Princesses. He said he would have some of his actress friends dress up and meet us at the airport with a sign that said Princess Madison. I don't know if I can keep quiet on the plane for that long! Any suggestions??

Shelly- I love the way that you're surprising your boys! They're going to flip out! I know that I would!

I like that book idea! Then as she reads it, maybe she'll be figuring it out! So cute. You're not telling her until the day you leave right? Do you have a secret place you're packing?

Oh, yes! Don't listen to me if you are used to colder weather! :rotfl2: I freeze in 60 degree weather.

:lmao: Yeah I laughed when you said you were packing a winter jacket! Sorry hun, my coat will be worn in the car to the airport then left there, for my behind will be in FL not WI, so I will not be wearing a coat!

It's hard to tell people what to pack. Some might still consider 60 cold while others do find it warm. It's something you really need to figure out on your own. I'll wear jeans the whole time I'm there. But I'm comfortable in jeans whether it's 110 or -30. I bring a sweatshirt (that I wear on the plane) and then t-shirts.
