Thanks for the heads up on the military discount. I passed it on to my Dad, so maybe he will take advantage of that.

If you haven't already heard - it looks like all the 2008 participating DDP restaurants are back for 2009!

http://www.disneytravelagents.com/StaticFiles/DTA-Domestic/pdf/2009Product/2009Dining.pdf

Thank you so much for posting this new information. I have been looking for the past week every day. They must have sneaked it on today. I am happy that much more choices are on the list.

Thank you Snowbirds for posting all your tips. I wouldn't have thought about the power bar and I forgot about the shoe organizer.

I think I am switching from lists to putting it on the calendar on when I will be doing what. This helps me set goals and focus on what is need for when.

I hope you all have a safe and warm weekend. :flower3:

Hi all,
more shopping today!

I got 2 pairs of Sandals - 1 pair of Merrels and a pair of The North Face ! It was a sale, buy one get one free. They are the rugged hiking type sandals!
I also got a small backpack- i do not like my Baggalini so I am going to try this bag out and see if it fits all my stuff. I also got a new wallet- small compact one for the little things I take to the world. I also found a swimsuit...don;t really like it, but it fits and it "supportive" :rotfl:

we then stopped by Wally World and got the last bits of travel stuff. Tomorrow it is croc shopping and time to try on my summer pants to see if the fit.

We still need to take down the tree and clean.

Yes, thanks Shelly for the DDP list! Now that I know we're going to do it, I'm glad to see everywhere we are planning to go is on it!

Remmy - great idea on the calendar to-do. I just don't know if my calendar is big enough!

Well, we went flower girl dress shopping! Oh my gosh, it was so cute. The girls' eyes got so big when we went into the bridal store!! It was like they didn't know where to look first! - Kind of like the first trip to WDW! They loved all the dresses and there were a lot of brides and bridesmaids there trying on dresses too, so they thought that was pretty awesome. Our bride (my nephew's fiance) tried on her dress to show us too, and they modeled the flower girl dresses we tried next to her. It was so cute, I was almost in tears. In the end, we picked out dresses that looked like the bride's beading and front of her skirt. So beautiful! We brought them home under strict orders that these are NOT for playing dress up!!! Now they can't wait for the wedding and it's not until June!

Aw crap...another thing to do on Monday - go to post office and get stamps for postcards....:headache:

Shoot! Thanks for the reminder!! And don't forget to print out the addresses ahead of time for people getting cards!

Funny - our decorations are "making" us take them down this weekend. We had terrible wind the past few days, so half our lawn decorations were down this morning, our living room tree lights are about 75% out, and our family room tree lights has a string out.

Yeah, that happened to me last weekend. I found some of our wreaths in the backyard (they had been on the front of the house the night before) and went "okay, then, that's all set!"

Today I had a girl's day and went to the mall with my friend. We went to a bath and body shop called Lush (there's on in the Orlando airport if you've never been and can lose the men for a short time - lol). They were having buy 1 get TWO free on their soaps and buy 1 get 1 free on their holiday gift sets (which have soap, bath bombs, shower bombs, scrubs). Then we went to Bath & Body Shop for THEIR sales and I got MORE body wash (hey, at $3...!), THEN we went to Sephora where I got something I actually needed (who knew!) but walked out with my birthday gift from them (body wash. note a trend?) and my 100 point gift (face moisterizer with SPF - for Disney!). My cats were very interested in all the smelly things I brought

I may never need soap again. I'm debating cutting pieces of the soap-soap and giving some to my mom and my other friends.

Has anyone seen my bathing suit? I can't seem to find it and I want to pack it to Disney just in case...

Hey I thought I would let you guys know about a double stroller swap I am in. There is an opening from Jan 28-Feb 1 right after me :) So if you need/want a stroller it's only $10 for the entire time you rent it :) Here is the link:

Sounds like a fun day! I hope you have a super day tomorrow - even if you have to watch the Vikings! :)
:bday: tomorrow! Here's a little pixie dust to make your day great and to help you find your swimsuit! pixiedust:

Okay, back on the subject of Crocs! I saw in the Outlet they have little Tinkerbell mary janes. Plus Minnie Janes for adults. I'm wondering if anyone has the mary jane style and can tell me how they fit. My regular crocs are fairly loose fitting. My girls have the Caymans (clog style) and flip flops and so I know what size those are. Their caymans are old, and getting small, so I thought I should just order the next size up in the mary janes.
Any thoughts, advice, comments? Much appreciated!

Awww, thanks! Now, can you make tomorrow's freezing rain vanish?! ;) It'll be a nice day, I am very sure. DH has already promised me a grilled cheese (hee!) for lunch and we're going to the grocery store soon to pick up some fun foods for tomorrow night, in case the freezing rain is bad enough we can't safely go out for dinner. :)

My coworker wears a size 7 in ALL styles of crocs (she has many), so they seem to run pretty normal. She has the Mary Janes, too. (So do I and I love them, though I think the MJ Croc tan line has finally faded :rolleyes1 ). But I lovelovelove my Mary Jane crocs. I wore a pair out this past summer!!!

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I really hope the weather cooperates for you. Here we are supposed to get snow until the middle of the night and then get COLD! As if it wasn't cold enough at 20 and windy! It all started as freezing rain/sleet and changed over around dinner time. So I'm sure there's a lovely icy layer underneath the couple inches of snow. I should have known it would be cold tomorrow. We have show tickets and it seems every time we do, it's either super cold, super windy or both. I'll test my theory again next weekend when we see another show. Tomorrow is Grease (with Taylor Hicks) and next week is Frost/Nixon.

Well, I guess everyone else is off having a life or something. My DH is working at the Wild game, kids are in bed. I'm watching Little Miss Sunshine. I undecorated the tree, put away most of the other decorations. Still have the village and tree to take down. That will be tomorrow's job (for DH! )
I'm debating whether I should keep watching TV or hop on the Wii Fit and do something good. Of course I also want popcorn! Such tough decisions!!

Or maybe everyone is on the phone with Disney like I am! I couldn't get their website to do anything. I just need to add Magical Express for me and DD7. They said they have a higher than normal volume of calls...On a Saturday night? Well at least I have good music to listen to.

You could Wii Fit WHILE eating popcorn...of course with my luck I'd choke and no one would hear me!:rotfl:

I've been spending hours pouring thru the creative threads looking for tshirts!! UGH! There's so much info out there and I feel bad PM'ing someone asking them to make me something, but I"m guessing that will be the way to go. I've looked at clip art and can't find anything that I could be more creative with than what's already been made!!

MEL-was it you that had the "will trade brother for fastpass?" I think I want to get those for the boys...which designer was that?

Hope everyone is having a relaxing Saturday evening. We shopped earlier and did lunch which was great but everyone started getting cranky toward the end (missed nap time) and didn't fall asleep on the way home, so it's been a stressful evening. Andy took the baby for a ride and I sipped an adult beverage sitting in bed watching Jumanji with Drew. NOW I'm relaxing!

28 minutes on hold...still holding...
I did make and eat popcorn while waiting!
I should be doing Wii while on hold. I've missed half the movie anyway, because I keep getting up and doing things, or flipping channels to watch hockey!

Might as well start. Even though it's after 9 and I am getting tired. I'd rather have an adult beverage (should have with my corn!). Oh well.

I'm not sure I'm going to bother with shirts. I think it will be lucky if I make my LGMH tags for my bag and door decorations for the cruise. I don't want to put too much pressure on myself!

I was looking through our Disney documents for Magical Express and noticed that they only have our arriving flight info, not our departure info. Do any of you know if I can add that while we're at Disney- or more importantly, how easy/difficult that is to do?

They should be able to add it there, no problem. A couple of years ago we forgot to add our flight info, and then AGAIN forgot at the resort until we were LEAVING and realized we didn't have the same tickets as our in laws. In a panic I went up to the stand and they were able to print vouchers for us to get on the bus (not that anyone checked them). We just had to take care of checking our own bags. Not one of my finer moments!! :confused3

Yep, that's me. I have written down here that Natalie (donatalie) DISigned it but when I go to her 4shared link it's not in theer anymore :confused3 Maybe you could try PMing her and ask her if she still has it? I am almost 100% sure I got it from there. Sorry I am not much help :) I'll keep looking...

I *think* when you check in, you can let your CM know about this and they can arrange it for you. Or you can call the ME number when you're there. I have read that this happens quite a bit.

One more day for you!!!!!! How exciting!!!!!!

mmmmmmmm....like your cats, I love girlie smelly things [as opposed to boy smelly things - phew!]. What a fun shopping trip that must have been.

And unfortunately, I haven't seen your bathing suit around here - my dog might have eaten - he loves to do that sort of thing. I got a 10 dollar off coupon from Walgreen's last week and I know I put it in a very safe place - so safe that I will never ever find it again -- :sad2:

And, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! [I wanted to get my wishes in before your birthday officially began] I hope you and your bathing suit are reunited, the weather is cooperative, your DH's team wins easily and your dinner is perfect.

I'm packing a bit of everything. Well, as much as I can fit!

Me too - with emphasis on the everything....:sad2: that's going to be one heavy suitcase...

I had to break the news to one of our group today that WDW doesn't serve real coffee at all of their restaurants. That was quite the blow. I did tell him that I was planning to take coffee from home but I think he would rather me take not only the coffee but the coffee maker AND take everything into the parks! [I guess I'd just wheel everything around on a dolly???] I told him that if he wanted me to do that, I'd have to get back to him about that one. :rotfl:

And, Wendy, your DD is a genius - that's a great idea about the trivia cards - I love that kind of stuff. Sounds like another trip to Target for me!

Good Mornings, SNOWBIRDS!!!

Up and at 'em! Am I the only crazy person that is up at 6:15 on a Sunday?

I've got huge list of things that MUST be done today. More laundry, prep the fish tank, thank you cards from Christmas, sort through DS's old toys to determine what will be donated, take down the outside lights . . . it goes on and on!

I want to keep myself as busy as possible so that the day goes quickly! I'm sure I'll check in with you all before we leave tomorrow morning.

I woke up super early today, too. I have to check-in for our flight in just a few minutes (last year I forgot to do it 24 hours before our flight time- eek).
I have 4/5 suitcases packed and already in the van. I haven't finished the baby's suitcase yet because I misplaced her Disney t-shirts. So I have to tear the house apart today to look for them. I'm really bummed because some of them match her older sister's shirts and they were super cute.

I also have to take down our outside lights, finish packing our carryons, general cleaning (I hate coming back to a messy house!), and fill up our gas tank in the van.
We're also supposed to go to the IL's for lunch, so I have limited free time today (but I'm sure I will find time to Dis ;) )

This morning I finished our mousekeeping envelopes and our table service tip envelopes. Since we are eating at a few buffets and they boys have pretty much already picked what they want to eat I was able to calculate the approximate tip. I then seal up the envelopes and put them in the pockets of my passporter for the appropriate day. Makes it so easy when we are there.

For those that have been to CBR before..... I was ready on safetymom's CBR page that you could buy a "Captains Plan" for the boat / bike rental for a 5 day period... pay one price and then use as much as you want..... is this still going on... I know that they used to have this at CSR but did away with it..... that might be a really good thing to do for two teenage boys.....

I did find my bathing suit but I did NOT find your Walgreens coupon - sorry about that!!! And yes, the bath & body products trip was a LOT of fun. I am going to be one very clean woman! ... I did have a moment of insanity when I pondered packing a bath bomb for Disney but I don't generally take baths on vacation. Kazooie01 - I have done the 10 minute boxing...it wears me out! Of course doing some of those Yoga things wears me out too...I'm not so much with the coordination (however anyone watching me gets a good laugh)

I'm getting myself ready for church here. Last church before Disney, so we always put in a little prayer request for safe travel.

We finished our shirts last night, but my computer is going psycho and won't let me upload any of the pictures...I also can't play with any of the smilies this morning...So I'll try and post those later on.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

I love the last minute (ok, last 2 weeks) stuff. Since we have been planning for a year, it really makes it seem close. I have to take DS12 shoe shopping because he has lost both pair of shoes. Ya, I know... He left one pair somewhere in Vancouver WA while on a football game trip. Luckily he had another pair at home. Well, those went missing last weekend at the mountain while snowboarding. SO, mommy gets to take him shoe shopping. I think he would look fairly silly at Disney World in either his snowboard boots or his snow boots. (might teach him a lesson though!)

I also get to buy panties for all my men. They love it when I say that, especially in the store, in front of a cute girl. Ya, I am that mom!

There are a few more small items that I would like to pick up this weekend. I have 2 Saturdays left before we leave. This one is shopping Saturday, next is cleaning, packing, stupid stuff Saturday. And blond hair remover day. Want to look pretty for all those 1000's of Disney pics I always come home with. (and fyi, it is not grey, it is blond...:rolleyes1 )

I also have to figure out which limo company I called and made reservations with. I have not told the kids that we are taking a limo to the airport and I did not want them to find out so I was being stealthy and did not leave any trace of information. Well, see where that got me... I have no idea who will be here to get us! :scared1: I will call later today and hopefully find the right company!

ONLY 14 Days 0 Hrs 49 Mins 52 Secs left to go (still stupid wrong ticker...)

I too have to get my older son new tennis shoes!!! He just got a pair and has already out grown them. I need to do this today--I want them broke in before the trip. And-----I always say panties and my dh and boys go nuts. They hate it---but hey-what's a girl to do?
Hi all,
more shopping today!

Quick question-What is North Face? I see it on lots of stuff and never knew exactly what it was.

Happy Sunday! Our first chance to go to Sunday church this year! What a blessing!!!

Hope all of you are on the mend--we seem to be!!!Just glad to get it over with before the trips begin. I started on my closet Friday--didn't do much yesterday, so I plan to finish today. That will be a load off me right there!! Can't stand junked-up closets. Why do we hang on to clothes we don't wear? Must be phsycological.I don't do that with much stuff, only certain clothes. I don't know, but I am getting out some things today and donating them.I will start on my packing list this week for small toiletries and such. I need to get snax and things to pack food wise.

I have to focus on school this week, then next week I can kick it in high gear---and have a better idea weather wise what's going on. Plus so many of you will be back, you can guide the rest of us weather wise!! I have found that accuweather is much better for advance planning than the weather channel. The last few trips I relied on the Weather channel were way off. So, that's a tip from me for today!!!:thumbsup2 Ha!!!! Okay, let me get my little chicks ready for church!!! Try to catch ya'll later today!!

Happy Birthday Sarah!!:cake:

Also bought some hangers so I can hang up my clothes, I don't want them all wrinkly...I might even purchase some of the wrinkle release to use!!!

Well off to church, I'll talk to you all laterz!!!

Morning Birdies...just checking in before I pay bills-YUCK! Didn't sleep much last night, the baby woke up crying, then I put him in bed with us (of course the 6 yr old had already crawled in bed with us too). A few minutes later Keaton's yacking in our bed. I was able to get a blanket in front of him so it didn't get all over the bed. Needless to say, not much sleeping was done on my part after that! I've been on our very uncomfortable couch since then and feeling a little ookey myself. Hopefully it's all in my head!!!

I actually got Andy to sit down and look at shirts with me last night, so now he is sharing the obsession and worked up some shirts last night. I haven't wondered downstairs to check them out yet.

I don't know about Kayte or Crzyred, but in my neck of Wisconsin, our roads are pure ice this morning. No church for us. It doesn't feel really cold outside, but it was raining yesterday afternoon and then around 8:00pm last night, the temps dropped. My DH said no traveling for me, but he went out ice fishing...men:scared: Luckily he took the old truck!
This weather just excites me even more for the upcoming trip.

Afternoon, snowbird peeps! I am into major Disney mode, checking everything over again, getting some plans set, and figuring out what I still need to buy before we fly!

Looks like they're calling for lousy weather Wednesday and Thursday here, but the good news is, Allentown (where we're flying out of) look like just rain and some wind. Hopefully we get out of here and into FL without any delays!:thumbsup2

Now it's time to decide what I'm going to have delivered from Garden Grocer and what we're goign to take. Continental is charing $15 for the first bag checked, which is a rip-off...we're trying to keep it to just 2 large bags for 6 of us supplemented by decent sized carryons. We'll see if we can do it. I suspect, when push comes to shove, we just might have to take along a 3rd bag since I'm not planning to do laundry. Too expensive and too much of a hassle. I hate the thought of doing laundry. Blech. But, I will do a load if I absolutely have to...

And today I'm going to get some t-shirts made. The weather is looking good so far...mid-70s and showers only called for on Monday of our trip. Of course, it seems to change daily! And the lows are upper 40s, so that's quite a temperature change! We are definitely doing layers.

Oh, how do you all do it? I hate packing and planning to pack. Yuck!:headache:

Afternoon Snowbirds!

It was a wonderful morning at Church. Out pastor and his family just got back from WDW!! So he shared a few pics and gave a really nice children's sermon about how although WDW is a very happy place it is not the "happiest place on earth", that the happiest place is in our hearts when we let Jesus in. :goodvibes

I think there is more than that. . . Although I can't remember everyone. . . Seems like there is more like 5 or 6 of us at least! :grouphug:

My DH says - why are you meeting on the beach in the dark? How are you going to take pictures? :rotfl: I said - well it was the only time/place that was convenient for everyone so we will take what we can get! :goodvibes

I'm not sure about that Wendy. . . You could PM Safetymom directly and I'm sure she could tell you. :)

Hi everyone! It's a bright sunny COLD morning here - AGAIN! We're at 2.
But the roads are good. We're packing up the tree so I can pack up the summer clothes in our luggage! My girls like to wear t-shirts and shorts around the house to play and do Wii, so I've got to pack them and then they won't be wearing what I want to bring! I don't need any more :laundy:

Hope everyone is feeling better today! My dog was up sick a bit last night too - who knows what he ate!

I'm still on the fence about crocs. Now I really want a pair of Mammoths for myself, and a store here has a buy one get one 1/2 of sale on all crocs that aren't on clearance. I'm sure I won't find the Tink Mary Janes there, but I might run over there today. My mom is here since Dad has a big long meeting after church, she didn't want to go and wait. They are watching the girls when we go to Grease tonight anyway. She's helping pack up the girls' little Christmas trees. And she said she'd fix a hem on my favorite pants! :yay: Maybe she'll even iron for me! I hate ironing and she loves it! Maybe I'll go show her the pile. hee hee!

That military deal looks good! I hope people can use it! Does anyone know how long it lasts? I should go back and look at it. I'd love to be able to use it in November/December for a few days! Of course, I think I'd need my MIL with me to get it. Hmmm...more planning? Okay, Sheree, calm down! Get this trip planned first!! :)

Oh my we must be getting closer...you ladies are WAY chatty!

I agree! I had to read through 20+ pages this morning!! :rotfl2:

The snow, as far as I'm aware, is strictly for the northerners. Stupid Lake Superior!

:rotfl: Vikings in the super bowl is one dream pixie dust will NEVER help

You can have my pixie dust, since the Colts blew it last night!!

Another question is regarding quarter holders. Do you all just use the mini-m&m canisters? Do you put the pennies in there, too?

As for pressed penny tubes, I use mini M&M tubes and I put two quarters than a penny (over and over) So when we go to use them they are right there in order :)

That's what we do, too. In fact, I just told DH he needs to go to the branch (he works at a bank, not in the branch, but at the same location) and get some quarters and pennies!!

Good morning Snowbirds..... busy day here.... I did manage to get some of the things on my "list" done... the birthday invitations are done, I snagged a bunch of Mickey Heads form Home Depot, the mousekeeping envelopes are done, I even did my tip envelopes for the resturants.....laundry done, now I have to get showered and to the office.. have clients meeting me at 11am...

a couple of things I am not sure that I mentioned before... there are two things we never travel do DIsney without... one is an over the door shoe organizer..... we put it on the bathroom door and stuff the pockets with things like toothbrushes, toothpaste, brushes, make-up, lotion, etc.... it keeps the counters clean and the kids know where their stuff is without the "Mom.. where is my...."..... the other thing is a power strip.... with all the cell phones and camera batteries... its easy to just plug them into one...

I think today I might get the luggage out of the basement so it can air out...

LOVE the power strip idea! Already grabbed one and put it with our luggage so we won't forget it! I need to get the the HD and get some LGMH!!

I'm feeling much better! I actually ate breakfast and am enjoying my morning cup of joe again!:surfweb: And now it's time to think seriously about Disney!!!!!

I love the power strip and over the door shoe holder ideas! I'm off to do some more reading about what's going on.

Did I mention that I've missed you all? :goodvibes

We've missed you too!

So who do we have for our CBR meet.... Shelly, Jenny and Wendy so far.... is that it... I forget things so easy these days..... DS says it's because I am close to that half century mark..... kids can be so cruel..lol

We're going to try to be there too!! :thumbsup2 I think that's our AK day.

We stayed at ASMu once--I think all the washers and dryers are $2 all over Disney world. As for pants/shorts--we wear ours more than once-unless we get a spill or something on them--especially jeans-they take so long to dry!!!Don't be scared--just remember-you can buy more clothes there-even though you would have to pack it all back up!! If you take and soak you pennies in the sink on a sheet of aluminum and some baking soda I think that cleans them..... where are our chemistry snowbirds..... ladies.... you must know how to clean them.....

MAGGIED
01-04-2009, 01:18 PM
Okay... here is what one website says about cleaning pennies...

Shiny Clean Pennies

1 teaspoon of table salt, 1/4 of white vinegar, and a shallow bowl to mix them in.
Simply put the vinegar in the bowl, and mix in the salt. Add the pennies that you want to clean, and let them sit for up to 5 minutes. Be aware that if you put too many dirty pennies in the solution it will eventually beccome too dirty itself, and you will need to refresh your solution. Be careful with this approach with zinc pennies, as the vinegar attacks the zinc pretty agressively.

Yep, same size no matter what style for me, too. The Mary Janes really are comfortable. The outlet is having a mega-sale near us. ALL of the kids stuff is $4.99. I went crazy for our trip. I have a new pair of Caymans, the whole family has black Mickey Crocs, and I also got the full shoe style (can't remember the name right now). I have more Crocs than I can fit in the luggage. I was going to get Mary Janes, but I don't think I can take any more!

I have a question for you more knowledgable snowbirds. This is about photo pass and if you pre-order the photopass CD just for yourself. If you upload and edit your pictures each night, is there any place at Walt Disney World where they could make your CD for you so you can have it with you as you are coming home??????

Hair products, face(cleansers, make-up,etc,) and work down-clothing included. For each thing, like shampoo and cond list what each member of your family needs. Then I do meds, then laundry stuff. After that I list things for travel-documents, paper work, picture Ids,tickets. Cell phones, charges ( all electronics) and then stuff for back packs for planes per child. This really keeps me organized. I actually have put this on the computer and I just print for each trip.

I have a question for you more knowledgable snowbirds. This is about photo pass and if you pre-order the photopass CD just for yourself. If you upload and edit your pictures each night, is there any place at Walt Disney World where they could make your CD for you so you can have it with you as you are coming home??????

A friend of mine is thinking of going in February and is a huge scrapbooker and was wondering if she could get the CD in her hands when they get ready to leave instead of waiting to order it???? I had no idea so I thought I would check with you guys first!!!

Jen... we got ours at the Grand Floridan.... but I think you can get them at the photo place in each of parks..

I'm not sure about that Jen. . . I've never heard of anyone being able to bring home the photopass CD with them. . . They say the pics can take up to 24 hours to show up on it. . . But I suppose anything is possible at WDW! You could ask at the photo place at MK.

It is freezing here too. We just got home from the outlet mall. And we went there just to go to DQ in the food court for some ice cream! :confused3 :rotfl:

While I was there I saw that they just put in a Disney Character Warehouse Store!! :cool1: So exciting!! It's not a real Disney Store, but it will do since the nearest real Disney Store is on the south side of Pittsburgh (over an hour away  )! The outlets are 3 miles from my house!! :goodvibes

I got a shirt and some Disney scrapbooking supplies!

I bet you do hate to pack, Carrie - since your packing involves traveling thousands of miles to places that don't have the same things you're used to. Hopefully, packing for WDW will be a breeze compared to packing for Jerusalem....

Here's the ASSp FAQ thread Carrie! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1592414

:worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: you're better than Google, Shelly!

Okay... here is what one website says about cleaning pennies...

:worship: :worship: :worship: You, too, Wendy!

Our little group had our first trip planning meeting this afternoon after church. It was so great! This is the first time all of us have gotten together for the express reason of talking Disney. Everyone was so jazzed about going - even the one who didn't seem on board with the trip had acquired an Unofficial Guide and had all these bookmarks in it. We're all on the same page in that we want to get up early to go to the parks[most of us are night owls so this is a big deal] and stay at the parks all day since they close relatively early.

I told them about the photopass option and they were pretty excited about it - for all of us to get it, we'd only have to pay $25 each. A couple of the guys want to do the segue tour in Epcot, too. I told them about some of the restaurants and they love that, too.

Anyway, it was really fun....we're going in less than 3 weeks!!

Again, although I am an infrequest poster, I am an AVID Disser. I am going to really try to come to some of the meets. All of them, with the exception of the 18th, are the parks where we are planning to be. I would love to be able to put faces and voices to the posts that I read on a daily basis.

I also can't wait to see my name in the up and coming trip list! This week I hit single digits! I am so excited to be going back. I have resisted the urge to start packing. I have to save something for next weekend. :woohoo: I have started the "I only have x left to go...". Like, I only have 1 Saturday to go now!!! Yeh. I only have 10 days of work left to go!!! I only have one bottle of shampoo to go... Ok, that is weird, but I really have been counting the days by how many bottles of shampoo we go through. I usually buy several sets of shampoo & conditioner at the same time. The last purchase I was able to say "this is the last bottles that I will have to buy before we leave." I am now onto "this is the last bottle that I will open before we leave." They get to come too, because although Disney shampoos are cute, they are icky. I like mine.

Now I just have to decide which of my 13 pair of tennis/walking/running/etc shoes get to come to Disney. I don't want any to feel left out, but I don't really want just one suitcase of shoes. That would just be silly.

And someone asked what "North Face" is... It is a brand name. Outdoorsy stuff. Winter stuff, mountain stuff, stuff for people that like to be in the cold. Or just look like they like to be in the cold (I fall into this category).

Happy packing!!

Well - um, yay :confused3 Sorry about your Vikings, but happy about my Eagles! :cheer2:

The thought occurred to me today that if the Eagles DO get to play for the NFC championship, we'll be driving during game time on 1/18! DH won't be too happy about that. Supposedly the NFC game starts at 3:00 that day. That would put a damper on our drive, for sure. We'll be searching the radio for a local station, I guess.

You've been pretty chatty since yesterday! I had a lot to catch up on! For those that are leaving in the next few days, have a wonderful time! I can't wait to hear all about it! I'm hoping that time goes by quickly, but not too quickly. I have SO much left to do! With my DD going back to school tomorrow, I know I'll get a lot more done. I've had so much fun having her home and playing with all of her new stuff! But, it's time to get back to normal I guess. However, my DH is off tomorrow, so that means we're going out to breakfast. Yum!

So we get home from the lacrosse game last night (around 1am!) and my DH hadn't gotten the mail. Lo and behold, there were our park tickets from UT! I couldn't believe he had left it outside for 12 hours! Anyways....I'm so happy to have them in my hands! I put them with our gift cards we got for Christmas so I won't lose them. That would be the worst thing ever! I'm also excited about a slight change in EMH for our week. Like you all know, they have no affect on us since we're off property. However, our ADR for CP was on an AM EMH and I was a little bummed. I was looking forward to no one in the park until 9am. Well, that day is no longer an EMH day! WOO HOO!:yay: Just thought I'd share that with all of you. Well, I'm off to lounge around and watch some tv with my DH. Catch ya later!

Good Evening Snowbirds,

Today was to be a great get things done day. Silly me thought if I took along DH more would be accomplished. Actually, the opposite happened. :sad2:

Dear Friend came back from maternity leave (1 whole year!) at work and reminded me that I will miss her birthday and wondered if she could stow along. I remembered about another co-worker already has a birthday later that week and then I remembered so does the pharmacist. Three all in a row!! I am thinking of taking down Happy Birthday cards and ask the various characters I meet to sign them. I won't bog down lines with asking them to sign each one, I will only pull out one card per character so each have a sampling of each. I am also going to throw in a pressed penny for each. I am going to have so much fun with this.:)

I pulled out our Disney totes we are driving down with.......

Good News :goodvibes -DS has a multitude of Disney t-shirts he can wear

Bad News- :sad1: -they will fit DS next year, oh well, at least I tried

The rest of the clothes I tried to plan ahead with all fit for the rest of the family so that is good news too.

I wanted to say Great Job to all the crafty people with the t-shirts.:woohoo: :cheer2: They are all great designs. I wish I was more crafty.

I also want to add this website for the Photopass:
http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disneysphotopass/
I find this site very helpful too.

I will wish all Snowbirds that will be leaving soon, much safety and fun.

To all Snowbirds currently there, please enjoy it to the fullest and come back and tell us all about it.

They closed school again for tomorrow. Spokane does NOT close school. Ever. I am beginning to feel a little guilty about taking my kids out of school now. The teachers & counselors already know and are ok with it, but how are they supposed to get an education since the snow won't stop falling and their mother won't leave them in school instead of taking them on Disney vacations. Hey, maybe they will aspire to be characters or something, then at least I could deem the vacation as "research"! :rolleyes1

No kidding! I'm overwhelmed, but excited! I spent the afternoon printing iron-ons! Now it's time to cut and iron. I hate ironing. Maybe this will be more fun than the run-of-the-mill ironing...or more stressful. :scared1: :lmao:

I bet you do hate to pack, Carrie - since your packing involves traveling thousands of miles to places that don't have the same things you're used to. Hopefully, packing for WDW will be a breeze compared to packing for Jerusalem....

Crzyrd - where did you find the designs for the Experience the Magic shirt? I thought a while back someone - maybe you- said you could also get clip art from maybe googling disney clip art or something?
When you download these things, is there a certain program to use to edit? I need to go find a sticky with some good instructions on getting the art and editing it.
TIA -

Welcome to our new snowbird friends! I stopped by HD today and got a couple more LGMHs so I can make some tags for my bag.

No luck on the crocs, but did shop for clothes and got a couple things. Then DH and I went to dinner and to see Grease! Very fun! Now all those songs are stuck in my head. Born to Hand Jive baby!

My sister and I, *I believe* got most of our designs from a wonderful lady on the DISigns board. Kellybell is her name. A lot of the designers will personalize their stuff for you. I have no idea what program you would use to edit it, I'm not so much that talented!:rotfl: Lucky for us, none of our designs had to be "fixed" at all.

I would recommend just heading over to the DISigns board and just having a look at what some of the designers have.

They must have listened to you because they changed it back! I did see the remake before they converted back though. Very confusing!

Seriously, I try to stay away from the WDW site as much as possible - I can't find anything there! I just use my favorite search engines - Shelly, Wendy or Remmy - they're a lot nicer, too 'cause they don't slow down my computer.

That would be the reason why I couldn't always access it last night. I too found the new page but then later it would say Error. I gave up.

Thank you very much for the mention.:flower3: I am humbled. At the most my computer skills are usually like this :badpc: . I only know how to do a few basic things. I too find the WDW site not that user friendly as I usually go on a wild goose chase to find anything.

Okay, so I have to share this with you. We made a countdown chain last week I guess it was. Our DS took it upstairs and put it in his bedroom. Honestly, out of sight, out of mind. When tucking him in last night, I stepped on it! I thought for sure he had forgotten about it. Counted the chains, and NOPE - it's completely correct. So, I woke him up this morning, got him dressed, and we're halfway down the stairs. He stops and bounds back up the stairs, without a word. He goes to his bedroom, turns on the light, and tears off a link! He's so excited! He wasn't about to forget about one of those links, even though Mommy had! :lmao:

Good morning, Snowbirds! Hope you all slept well! I finished many of our t-shirts and they turned out well! I did notice the DISign had a spelling error AFTER printing them all!:rolleyes1 Instead of "starring The Dressler Family" it says "staring The Dressler Family." Scot didn't notice and even after I pointed it out we questioned the spelling.

I can't worry about it...the shirts are done and I'm sure someone will point it out to us, but my kids won't notice and we will be staring, wide-eyed at everything, right? :lmao: Accurate! Today I still have about 25 shirts to do and we're off to Walmart this morning to buy the last minute things. I'll start packing the suitcases tonight. I plan to use 2 gallon ziplocks and 1 gallon for the smaller people to pack their clothes. That idea sounds like a dream! No fights about who's wearing what and the suitcase doesn't get dumped all over in a frantic effort to find something! Love it!

And looks like we'll have 2 good sized carry-ons where we'll pack a change of clothes for each of us, plus the "park essentials" and a few snacks. The kids will carry small backpacks on the plane with their entertainment options. And that's that.

Does it sound like I'm at least decently organized? :scared: Still have some of this:laundy: to get done. That's neverending with 4 kids!

I can't believe I'm going to Disney in just 3 days. We've known each other for quite awhile, haven't we! :goodvibes

Good morning Snowbirds... I have another busy day in paradise... off to a meeting with my boss at 9 am... Maggie to the doctor at 11 am.. then two contracts to try and get together this afternoon.... then Daniel has a basketball game at 5:30....

my house is a disaster.... still have all the Christmas decorations up... and that is a chore... I love Christmas and decorate EVERY room in the house... we have a 10 ft tree in the family room, a 7 foot tree in the living room, a five ft tree in our bedroom, and smaller trees in the other three bedrooms... plus a 12 foot mantle that has ... I don't know...about 100 ft of garland and stuff.... I think you get the picture.... looks beautiful but I dread taking it all down..... maybe tomorrow.....

I do want to get those suitcases up from the basement to start airing out.... maybe tomorrow....

well friends off to the shower and then my meeting.... have a great morning...

I have FOUR DAYS left! Woohoo! Of course, I'm working a full day on Friday before we hit the road/skies.

Tomorrow night into Wednesday, we're supposed to get 4-6 inches of snow. I start going "ACK" but then I slip into my happy place, thinking "Disney is not going to have snow. Disney is not going to have snow!"

Also, my countdown? I'm done, I have nothing left to count!

However, I'm debating the merits of a new bathing suit. I don't swim often (or hardly ever, really). I bought my current suit when I got married (8 years ago, yikes), and while my weight has yo-yo'd, I'm apparently still the same size (DH and I were hoping it would be too big) (also, I am using paranthetical remarks a lot today) (and one last to say I tried the suit on yesterday, and it's as flattering as any suit will be, I guess!).

Should I go to the mall today and see what they have? Knowing that I may not get the chance to use it at Disney? Or should I stick to the one I bought 8 years ago, having used maybe a handful of times?

Otherwise, my packing has thus far consisted of: finding the rain ponchos, the sunblock, and the power cables for both my cameras.

How was dinner?

It was alright. We had a really slow waitress team (the one girl was training). We got our soup/salad put on the table and literally looked back up and there were our entree's. And we never got any dinner rolls. It took me like 10 minutes to get a refill on my water. We've never had service that slow there, plus with the new girl training, so we just marked it up to a one time event.

Ok it's currently -1 but feels like -13. COME ON FLORIDA!

Anyone wanna go to work for me? Anyone? I have a feeling today and tomorrow are going to go very slowly....

Oh well. Everyone have a great day.

In 48 hours I will be in the air!! :cloud9:

Good morning! It's certainly strange with my DD back in school today. The bus was a bit late, so we froze a bit. I'm just about to head out the door to get some yummy breakfast with my DH. Then, it's off to the grocery store. I totally could not sleep last night. Part of it was due to the fact that I'm all congested with sinus junk. Also, I started thinking about packing. Well, that sent my mind racing! I had to stop because I got myself in a bit of a panic. I guess I should start making a packing list to get it all out of my head!

Well I am back at work!! We don't have students today, so I have entered all my grades (actually finished last night), working on powerpoints, a welcome back letter, and a syllabus!!! I'm enjoying so far that we haven't been called down to any faculty meetings LOL (knock on wood)

Well, I'm back at school today, too. It has been so nice being off for almost 2 weeks. But, the next two weeks should go by fast, and then we have MLK day off and I work for 2 days and then off to WDW!!:yay:

DD just called and said my TA called and said our documents were ready to be picked up. She woke her up (still on college sleep schedule - LOL), but she didn't mind when she found out it was about the trip. She has decided to go back to school next week to work and then come home again a few days before we leave. She has been home almost a month and is getting pretty bored:bored: . Her summer job didn't have any hours to give her while she was home, but she works in her college admissions office and they are really busy this time of year so she can go back and work while on break. She is very lucky because her college runs a January session, so the dorms are always open as well as all of the dining halls. Gives her a chance to be at school, not have to do any school work, and make some extra money.:thumbsup2

Have a safe trip to everyone leaving this week and let's hope that we all have great weather when we are down there!

Go for the new suit! I just got a new one about a month ago for the trip. I haven't had a new suit since... well before our daughter was born. I know I’ll use it at least a couple of times when we're down there in 16 days. If it's above 70 any of the days (it was 85 for a day or two last year) we'll take the kids to the pool. There are great deals out there. My Husband found a Nike shortini for me that was normally $85.00 for $30.00.:thumbsup2

need to vent......

one meeting down... a few more to go... as with everything ....my company is cutting commissions.... I only lost 5% from what my commission was last year but that makes it down 15% from what it was two years ago.... rrrrrrr... sometimes I really don't like my job..... I also stressed to my boss that I didn't get enough company referrals and that I expected more this year to make up for the difference.... I sound tough don't I.... not really... but she got my point.... I do a really good job for them and I don't think they would be happy if I left.... as I was in the top five in the company this past year.... we will see......

off the box and done venting now...

DD is soooooo slow.... just waiting for her so I can take her to the doctors... she doesn't like to drive into the city.... which is okay because she is a really bad driver anyway...lol.... I think we will stop by the mall and go to the Disney store and see what kind of deals they might be having.....

okay.. gotta run..... bye

I've missed you! I thought life would slow down a little after Christmas, but no such luck. :sad2: Now I'm about 50 pages behind on this thread, and I haven't even read about Shelly's big Reveal! :upsidedow I may not ever catch up, so I hope everyone is doing well and ready to go see Mickey! :mickeyjum I know I missed Sarah's birthday yesterday... hope you had a good one! :cake: My sweet baby girl turned 1 yesterday! princess: Where does the time go?

I finally made a countdown calendar yesterday, starting with 15 days to go! :cheer2: DH and the boys were impressed with the clever use of Home Depot paint chips. DIS gets the credit for that! :thumbsup2

But now Disney has me totally re-thinking my plans! They just came out with a special ticket offer for military folks...it's a great deal, but it's only good on 5-day tickets (not upgradable). We already purchased 7-day hoppers, which we could save for another trip someday, but I'll need to re-plan this trip with only 5 "major" park days. I hope that doesn't sound whiney--I love saving money so I'm excited about the deal! Here's a question...what can we use "water park fun & more" on? Pleasure Island is closed, Typhoon Lagoon is in rehab. We're thinking of Blizzard Beach, but I'm afraid it will be too cold. I'm sure the boys would love DisneyQuest (which I've never told them about since we've never had time for it). Anything else I'm forgetting? Did they add one of the mini-golfs to it? I suppose I could go look it up.

Totally off topic, but I'd appreciate your prayers for my dear friend Janet. Her baby Benjamin arrived on his due date just after Christmas, but he had died earlier that day. DD and I are flying to Denver on Wednesday to attend his memorial service. I don't know what to say to her but hope I can offer some support and comfort.

Hello Birdies...

Well yes we did get that ice storm Sat night. About 1/2 an inch of ice & freezing rain. Turned everything into a skatingrink. I tried to drive into work Sun & ended up turning around after a mile. Too slick & windy. So I got all the decorations put away, suitcases out, & started packing!!! Got out all the clothes I think I want to take. On tue I will go through & narrow them down a bit. Have a ton of errands to run also. Hopeing to get them done before we get with the snow they are calling for.

Good news DH is finally getting excited about the trip!! He went back to work today & I stopped in first words out of his mouth..... can we check in any earlier than Sat? YES!!! So I am mow hoping that maybe he will want to leave Fri afternoon instead of 4am Sat.:rotfl:

Hello Birdies!!!

:scared1: STRESS CITY here today!

We shopped till we dropped this weekend, I bought stuff I would NEVER treat mysef to, because of the sales!
I tried on all my pants that I want to take- most are the long pants you roll up and button as carpis in light cotton weight fabric. When we went in JAN 2007 I wore mainly capris and jeans, only shorts to cover up my swim suit. All this talk about shorts has me concerned. I am not a shorts person unless it is hot hot hot!

I don't find the FLA temps humid, so I hope I'll be ok.

I still have not touched my new camera. I said I wasn;t going to take it and DH was upset. It is stressing me out, Digital SLR, give me automatic with the same quality - please :rotfl:

We have our totes organized and I started laundry. I was able to get DD some more cpirs that fit- did I post I lost/ misplaced a whole tot e of her summer clothes-.

DH has been working hard- we create our own trip book, this includes our ADR's, menus, park goals and any notes or tips I have found. It has to be done by the end of the week to get bound. DH has all my info and is cutting and psting it, I then need to "sign off " on the fianl version. I love the idea, but it is time consuming and DH is not a mind reader...:rotfl: I think we're obsessive.

I have 2 binders, one divided by parks, the other divided by days! Why do i jhave som much paper and weight to take with me- it's crazy. I have to take the binders because these are my plans. In 2007 we planned but not this ecessively- knowledge is danger!:surfweb: DIS boards is danger :rotfl: too much info overload!

Other good ideas for packing
1. powerbar
2. mini keychain flashlight
3. nightlight
4. pop up hamper
5. glow sticks ( for night time)
6. pressed penny tubes
7. ponchos

the more I come across the more I will share!

Has anyone seen a menu yet for T-Rex? We were thinking of eating there our first night, as our son LOVES dinos!

Nevermind...I found it! :goodvibes It helps to venture into other areas of this site instead of just the Snowbirds thread!

Shelly, I added another ADR - T-Rex Cafe Jan 26 @ 12:30. My oldest is going to freak out  He loves Dinos

Just so everybody who wants to get reservations there knows. They started taking them today and the guy on the phone told me that it has been crazy!
407-828-8739

Yahoo! I just got an ADR for our arrival day! January 19th @5pm! The guy who answered the phone said "oh we aren't taking any reservations yet, walk ins only!" So I said "Yes you are, I just spoke with a friend who made a reservation not even an hour ago for the 26th of January!" So he goes" Oh soory you're right will you please hold for a minute?" I waited about 2 minutes and then a woman comes on the phone and says "sorry for the confusion, we just started taking reservations today!"

My kids are so going to freak! They LOVE Dinosaurs! :yay:

Glad you found the menu. All menus are available on allears.net as well. That's where I printed all of mine out from! I called T-Rex and didn't have to wait at all. I got a ressie for our arrival day. Woo Hoo! I'm about to call Disney dining again. I'm crossing my fingers that everything is all worked out. I'll post my new ADR once I have it!

Hi guys, I have not really been around. We are still going on our trip, but things here have been very shaky. My oldest daughter was hospitalized for 7.5 days for a non medical reason. It has completely taken our family back as to what we could have done differently or wrong or whatever. She was released two days before Christmas. She is coming with us, and I am going to have to back out of any meet. I do not want to upset her or make her feel ill at ease. I am sorry :( DH is still out of work :(

I hope you all have a great time on your trips. I am still excited about ours in just 10 days and hope it does all of us some good. I can not wait to see pictures. Has anyone heard about the photoshare we are doing? Jenjolt you are in the group have you heard anything? Please let me know!

I'm not a fan either, but I love LOST!!!! I will be setting my tivo as well. We got hooked on Lost almost 2 years ago. We borrowed Season 1 from my DH's co-worker and watched it over the summer. We then rented Seasons 2 and 3 and were all caught up by the time Season 4 started last Jan. We are all set for the new season to begin. It's addicting!

Hung up with dining. My phone was acting all weird. I'll try again!

Good morning Snowbirds! :cool1: :cool1:

How terribly sad.... we will say some prayers for her and her family.....

I am a fan - shamefully admitting.

I did not know Deanna and Jesse broke up- I'll have to search out that u tube video. I was surprised she didn't pick that other professional guy that came back to the resort for her (can't remember name).
I think Deanna didn't pick Jason because of his son, that's a big life change. My DH is my dd's step dad, and I know the trials we have been through and will go through... oh wow - I am airing out my laundry now :laundy: - not like me - must be getting comfortable.

I think this season will be better because Jason is more mature- I hope - very risky to place your young son in that position - I could never do it. Use to be a time when you had to be child free and never married to be on the bachelor/ette.

FYI- Mary and Byron- not sure , but she was arrested for assualt on a man in her aprtment- no confirmation if it was Byron. This was maybe 2 years ago.

Everyone enjoy the show :happytv:

Bachelor~~~ YES!!! I can't wait. I loved Jason in the last one and was disappointed he wasn't chosen but Deanna wasn't a fave either. Jesse was raised near me.

I hope Jason finds a TRUE match and it works like Trista and Ryan!

I know I'm going to get back into school and then have to turn around and leave LOL!! Oh well I can honestly say I got A LOT done today. I have lesson plans for the rest of the month. I made copies...over all it was a really productive day for me!

MEEE!!!! I liked Jason right from the start. I think Deanna is flakey. Who would pick a snowboarder over a professional... wait, I married a snowboarder too... Well, I am still really excited to see Jason get to pick someone for himself and his son.

AND I have made our ressies for T-Rex! Jan 24th at 6:30 pm for a party of 15!

We will see you there! We have the exact same ADR! Woo hoo!:woohoo:

Why is the dining line so busy today? I've already been on hold for 8 minutes!

I was on hold a long time today. Plus I called numerous times before I could even get through. They're computers were frozen for awhile. My CM couldn't cancel my lunch ADR because of when I called earlier. Anyways....sorry Shelly but I have some changes!

1/24-T-Rex at 6:30pm
1/25- Akershus at 10:20am (changed from lunch to b'fast)

I'm so excited! I can't believe we'll be at Part V in just a little bit!

You can make ADRs at T-rex now...I didn't know that...that restaurant seems so very very cool!!! I have also read some good reviews on the food there too!!

It's pricey, but I think I read somewhere they'll be taking Disney rewards cards. That makes me very happy! We only have 69 points (we don't use that card much anymore) but that will cover dinner!

I wonder if that means they will take Disney Gift cards too...probably not, but I might have to call and check!!! Can't hurt to ask LOL

Thanks everyone for the kind words for my friend. My heart is really aching for her.

Wow, I'd want to go! Where is the info on that military deal? I'd be interested in doing it for my next trip. I understand that it goes for most of 2009! I think that sounds like a great price for everything. A 6 night trip to Disney for less than $1000?? Uh, yeah, good deal!

Sheree, there's a good recap of the military deal on mousesavers:

Now I'm trying to redo my schedule (again!) for 5 park days instead of 7... :rolleyes1
