Could DH and I share an entree & a dessert at an a la carte restaurant and still have it only count as 1 TS credit? Do they allow this at a la carte TS places? What about signature restaurants? If we were to go to Yachtsman's steakhouse and share the 24 oz. porterhouse steak and share a dessert, would they allow us to do that for the 2 TS credit allotment?

What about the kids? Would they be able to share a kids' meal at a signature restaurant for 2 TS credits? I am not trying to be too cheap or anything, my kids will still only be 3 and 5 when we go back to WDW and judging by the portions at WDW they will be able to share the app, entree and dessert that a kids' meal comes with on the DDP (remember, kids still get an app even though adults do not, and they usually list 2 apps on the kids' menu from what I notice). Or are we each required to order our own entree and so anticipate having to use 8 credits total for the 4 of us at Yachtsmans?

If you are both on the dining plan,it shouldn't be a problem.

In Sept. my Mom and I split just about all of our meals. (not including buffets or skillet at whisp. canyon) we just doubled the tip and paid oop for the other drink.

We did not however eat at any signature restaurants

Thanks for the info! All 4 of us would be on the dining plan since we are all staying in the same villa. I know we can't share at all you can eat meals. I was only curious about signature places, in particular Yachtsman's steakhouse because that place looks so good & is so close to BWV, but it is 2 credits and I know DH and I can easily share a 24-ounce porterhouse and have plenty leftover! And that is probably what we would both want at a steakhouse anyway so it would work for us, we wouldn't feel "limited" to it. And I am sure that the kids would be able to share a meal from the kids' menu as well.

Anyone else know if you could do this at signature restaurants?

Anyone? Can you split meals on the DDP at a signature restaurant and still they will only charge you the 2 TS credits?

I am by no means a Disney expert but I was under the impression that on the Dining plan for sit down restaurants everyone dining at your table needs to use their credits for the meal. Like if there are 2 adults and 2 children, you would need to use 2 adult credits and 2child credits (if its a 1 credit restaurant).

I hope I made sense. I don't know I am curious as to what others say.

Is this true, that if you are on the DDP then anyone at the table with you who is also on your room reservation and on the DDP with you MUST use a TS credit for their meal? (Or 2 TS credits for a signature restaurant meal?)

So, sharing is not allowed on the dining plan unless it is CS because you go up to the counter and ask for the food rather than get served by a waiter? Wow, this would be a huge disappointment.

You can use fewer credits than you have people on your reservation. You cannot use more. Not everyone at your table must be on the dining plan, or must use the dining plan to pay for the meal.

As for sharing, I have never tried to share a meal at a signature restaurant on the DDP. I have not used DDP since 2007 and did not share meals then. Someone who has done so will have to give a definitive answer on that. I do know you are not supposed to share meals with someone who isn't on your dining plan, but I don't see why you can't share with someone who is. I can't say anything specific about signature restaurants though.

We just got back last night. We were on the Deluxe dining plan, so we had tons of food. There were 4 adults in our party. My mom and I split a meal everywhere that wasn't a buffet. We split at California Grill, Sci-Fi, 50s Primetime and Coral Reef. I just ordered my dinner and said that we would be splitting. No one ever questioned us splitting our meal. At California Grill and Sci-Fi our meal came already split. At the others, the waiter brought out an extra plate. Also, we would have been happy to pay for the extra drink, but we were never charged for it. If you have more questions I would be happy to answer.

Thank you, this clarifies this much more and also makes me happy! DH and I could easily share a 24-oz. porterhouse steak (which would be our first choice to have at a steakhouse) but that amount for each of us would be insane! It would also save us 2 TS credits if we share, as we would have the basic DDP because we feel the deluxe plan is way too much food, especially the snacks (80 snacks for 4 people on a 10-day trip!). We would also be happy to share the dessert and pay OOP for an extra drink. Actually we would probably order wine at Yachtsman's anyway so we would have been paying OOP for it regardless. Thanks again!
