View Full Version : Late flight home - any ideas on what to do?

We have a later flight home after disembarkation (~4:45pm) in October.

Any ideas on what we might have time to do? A quick visit to WDW or US?

The idea of hanging out at the airport for 7 hours with two small children is not very appealing.

Thanks!

We picked up a rental car at the airport and drove to Downtown Disney for lunch, shopping, and ice cream.

Hi chmb1,

My family of six was on the 4/6 Magic and we did not have a flight out until 9pm that Sat home. Do you have Disney Cruise bus transfers? Instead of taking the bus to the airport, we went to the Boardwalk. Showed them our KTTW card and they checked our luggage for us while we went in and hung out at the pool, had lunch on the Boardwalk, and even took the water tram for a free ride. Our family was wiped and spending the $$ to spend some rushed time at the parks just did not make sense. We called for a cab (minivan) when it was time to go to the airport - $50 for the whole family.

I'm jealous - have a good cruise!

We're also flying home late (9:55 pm!) after our cruise, on the 26th. Not our first choice, but the fare was cheap, & it's only a 1 & 1/2 hr. flight. Our plan is to get a rental from Avis at the Radisson, & visit the Kennedy Space Center.

If time permits, we will then eat an early dinner at O'Hana's at the Poly, then head to the airport.

We also are planning to go to Downtown Disney. We do have the Disney transfers to and from the port.

TX Shelly: What are you planning o do with the luggage? We're also in the same predicament (5:10PM flight) and would like to visit Downtown Disney, but I'm not sure what to do with all of our luggage. It was suggested that the DCL counter might hold them, but I'm not sure...

Psiklops,
We have a 4pm flight and are flying with US Airways. I have read on these boards that they are one of the airlines at the port you can check luggage to. We are on the June 1st Magic so I will find out then if it works.

We also have a 5p.m. flight in November. A few people suggested renting a car to go to Downtown Disney. I really do not want to rent a car for a few hours, but there is 7 of us and also all our luggage too. I understand you cannot check in at the airport until 4hrs before your flight. But I donot want to spend 7 hours in the airport. So I think renting a van is the only alternative? I do want to go to Wolfgangpucks to have lunch!!!!
