How Long to Check In at Terminal?

I haven't flown in ages.
I heard you now need 2 hours in advance of your flight to check in.
Here's the scenario:
Our flight leaves Tulsa Intl at 5:20 AM on a Sat morning.
How long should it take to check in early in the morning at a small airport like Tulsa's??
I could sure use the sleep instead of sitting and waiting for no good reason!

Check in time at smaller airports has been officially reduced to 90 minutes. While circumstances vary at different airports, usually the early mornings are not particularly overwhelming unless there has been some massive delay from the day before. I'm guessing you are on American Airlines (flight departure time has now been changed to 5:25am.) Check with American to see when the COUNTER opens at TUL. If they don't open until 4:30am (pretty common) it won't do you much good to get there earlier. Just allow enough time to park and schlep your luggage.
