Electronics shopping - St. Maarten or St. Thomas?

When we do the Eastern Carribean cruise I will be shopping for a new camcorder. I've already been to St. Thomas and the stores there (Boolchand's and Royal Carribean). Is the selection and pricing any better in St. Maarten? I've read on this board that some people think the jewelry shopping is better there, I just wondered if it applied to cameras and electronics too.

I have to tell ya, IMO, the electronics prices in St. Maarten were high. Camcorders cost more there then at your local Best Buy or Circuit City. I looked at camcorders, Nintendo Gameboys, and also Sony Playstations hoping to find good deals - not so.

Sony PS2's are 299.00 here. They were 329.00 in St. Maarten!

I wouldn't expect too much as far as camcorders go. I really think you're better off going to Best Buy, if there is one near you!
