okay, so I'm bored so I'm just doing some re-structuring to make it easier to navigate for when I show non-disers (hi grandma!) and keep my thoughts straight.

Us. I’m Joanna and DF is Chris.
How we met: We were actually born 23 hrs apart at the same hospital! Somewhere my dad has a picture of me in the nursery, and you can see him in the background all wrapped in his blue blanket - we were 2 bassinets away from each other!! We grew up in the same town, but on opposite sides, and were in the same social circle (I even briefly dated his best friend)- but never really “knew” each other, until the end of our senior year in high school. We quickly became great friends, and started “friend-dating” being each other’s date to parties and dances and such, but since he was moving across state for college, and I was going to college in Milwaukee we never really took it anywhere… So he was away at college for about a week before he realized that he just couldn’t live without me … okay, so it might have been longer, and not really that dramatic, but I’m writing this story ! Anyway, 8 years later… we’re getting married!!

The Engagement There’s not really a story here, but I think it plays to who we are, You know how there are all these studies that show that girls mature about 1.5 years ahead of boys?? Well, Chris and I are living proof of that. Since we met so young, neither of us were ready right away, but after I graduated college in 2005, and got my first “real” job, I started to hint that it was getting to be time. But he would just grumble and tell me he wasn’t ready. So finally this summer, we were lying in bed and he looked over at me and said “let’s go ring shopping” I nearly had a heart attack - FINALLY. So we went, and had a horrible time! We were fine, but the stores we went to were miserable and trying to get us to buy a ring that minute - and bawking at our modest budget. At the end of the day I had been convinced that I wouldn’t be able to get anything bigger than a .4 ct diamond for our budget - and even that went a bit over. I was devastated. I’m a big girl, with a big personality, and the diamond just didn’t fell right on my hand. On top of that, Chris was so turned off by the whole experience because the people at the jewelry stores attacked him like ants at a picnic, and one woman even yelled - yes yelled - at him for waiting so long to get me a ring! My glimmer of hope was gone. I told him I didn’t need a ring, and I didn’t need a diamond - I even picked out some pretty Sapphires, but he insisted that he’d get me the diamond that I wanted (1 ct or larger radiant cut) - even if it took a few more years (a few years?!?!?)

So I was lamenting to a co-worker about this, and she told me to check out some of the diamond web boards - she had gotten some great recommendations. So from there, I discovered Excel Diamonds - a store in New York, that has a HUGE in-store stock of diamonds and they also sell online. I was a bit leery about ordering such an expensive and important thing online, but this company was like the equivalent of Randy Chapman on these boards, so I decided to take a look. Long story short, I ended up with a 1.58 ct radiant cut diamond in a palladium hand -etched band, for $800 less than the .4 ct we were looking at originally! Plus the sales person was very nice to me, and took all kinds of pictures of me, and never talked down to me when we had to downgrade the band so we could afford it. Unlike most places they stock lower than J color and I-1 and I-2 clarity diamonds, so for someone like me who was on a tight budget, I was able to get a lower quality diamond for less money - and no one can tell! I mean yes, if you stare at it, you can see an inclusion - but really only I ever stare at it for any length of time, and I’ve already told DF that I’m not opposed to upgrading So anyone looking for a smoking deal on a diamond or band - I highly recommend them!

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/dis-wedding/JDPring.jpg

Anyway, since I did all the legwork, the ring was sent to a UPS store in my name - so I had to go pick it up, and then I was so nervous about how it would look, or it being the wrong thing that I opened it up right there in the UPS store! So I never really did get my proposal… oh well.

Telling the Parents Now, after 8 years together, one wouldn't think that telling our parents would be a big deal... We are very close with my parents, so this wasn't a huge issue for them. However, DF's parents are a different story. Upon announcing our engagement, and showing them my ring, her response we "Your ring is bigger than mine, the daughter-in law's ring isn't supposed to be bigger than the mother's." Seriously? When she asked our plans, we told her we were choosing between a location about 45 minutes from home and Disney. We had already settled on Disney, but knew there might be an issue (not Disney, travel in general - we live about 30 minutes away from her and she refuses to visit because we live so far away, she doesn't like to leave her house) so we wanted to broach it carefully. We explained that a destination wedding was the only way to have a small wedding (I have a large family, the last wedding in my family was ~450 people) and we chose Disney because of its wide appeal and the fact that you could drive too (she's allegedly afraid to fly). When she said she might come if we had the wedding 45 minutes from home (that was far too - and with it being January, it might snow) our decision was made...Disney it is. I'll spare you all the nitty gritty drama, but basically from what we can tell DF's dad is coming (thanks to some massive arm twisting from DF's grandma) but his mom is definitely not. I feel bad because I know it really hurts DF, especially since she's using the family dog as the excuse as to why she can't go. (Yes, that's right, she basically said the dog was more important than her son.)

Time will tell, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is the last drama we hear from her...

Picking a location Okay more than anything else, this is what’s been keeping me from posting a PJ, because it’s been changing every 10 minutes. :headache: But I know when I first started planning, the indecisive brides were the ones I found most helpful, so I'll share.

When we first started, we really just wanted a small Escape at Sunset Point, with just Parents and Siblings. But then we remembered Grandparents, and we would have been over our 10. So we started planning an Escape at Seabreeze Point, and then Chris’s brother announced he was getting married (they announced this in August and got married in October) - and didn’t invite one of his aunts - which caused a bunch of unnecessary drama, and really upset his grandma. Since she’s the one person that is actually supporting us in his family, we knew we had to invite aunts and uncles. On Chris’s side that’s no problem. 2 couples - no kids. But if we invite Chris’s aunts and uncles we have to invite mine, and my dad alone has 5 sisters, who each have a spouse and at least 2 (grown) children, and my mom only has one brother, but he owns a business with all of their cousins, whom I grew up with as aunts and uncles… :teacher: Our invitee list just grew to 80 people. So long Escape! So, we decided to invite some of our friends now, and the invitee list is up to 120. We think we’ll get between 30-40 people max, but we definitely will be out of Escape range. I really wanted to get married in France in Epcot, because one of my earliest memories is of visiting in the perfume shop there, and I lived in France for a while, so it’s special to me. But 9 am is really early, and we are planning for January, and last time I was at Disney in January there was some freaky cold snap and it was below freezing!

No one really seemed happy with that choice, they (my parents and Chris) all really liked the Wedding Pavilion. I did not - at all. No matter what pictures I saw, it just didn’t feel like “us,” I just had it in my head that we’d do something outdoors and totally out of the ordinary. But, all the points they made for an indoor ceremony made perfect sense, and I really didn’t like any of the other indoor options that our small group could use - so, I gave in, and we’re planning on having our ceremony a the Wedding Pavilion. I must say I’m warming up to the idea, and really like it (at least for now.)

That’s really how most of this has gone - I do all the research, find something I like, but then no one else likes it, and then they make me change my mind. :rolleyes1 I’m worried that when it’s all done, there will be little of me represented - but I’m at least sticking to my guns on some things (no ball room, no dancing, dessert party-sort of)

Chris really liked the menu at the California Grill, and my mom really likes the location. I’m pretty indifferent. There’s a few things I don’t like (no menu flexibility, no separate pre-reception location, and the “standard” feel) and a few things I really like (VIEW – and we'll be able to see WISHES, which helps with the timing, loaction, and menu add-on choices) So (for now) I'm going along with this too. But lately a when a butterfly flies by, I'm ready to change my whole plan!

So as of now... the plan is (drum roll.....) Welcome Illuminations dessert party at the French Arm on Saturday (1/23/2008) and on Sunday (1/24/2008) we'll have a 5 pm ceremony at the WP and then the pre-reception/reception at the California Grill.

But don't get too attached, it's likely to change :)

Other Stuff
I don't have much yet, but I'll tell you what I do know.

Officiant: I'm Catholic – Chris is no religion. (I'll spare you the anti-religion stories from his mom – I'm seriously amazed Chris turned out as normal as he did!) I'm not super religious. I'll go to Church on Sunday if I'm with my parents, but on my own I'll go maybe once a month. So I had no problem with the rule about a priest no being able to marry you not in a church and started researching the Disney recommended officiants. Until I was reminded by my parents about their friend Bob. I've known him my whole life, and he's one of my parent's closest friends, so I often forget that he's a priest. CRAP! Well obviously I want him to be the officiant now, so were back to that silly “in a church” rule. So we're stuck for now because we don't want to do an Orlando church wedding, and the other alternative is to get married here right before we leave and do a “vow renewal” in Disney, and he'd be able to officiate both. This seems like a simple no brainer, but as you've probally figured out, nothing in my life is! If we tell Chris's parents we're getting married here, there's NO way we'll get them to go to Disney. If we don't tell them, then we're starting out with a lie, and if it ever comes out we're so never going to live it down. Seriously, his mom will come back from the dead and haunt me for the rest of my life whining about how we made her travel so far and we were already married. So the answer was to just have one of my friends and her husband be the witnesses – no parents. Well then my parents threw a hissy since they're paying for it and they're Catholic, and Bob is their friend. Ugh... Vegas is looking kinda good :) We're meeting with Bob this weekend, so I'll keep you posted if we're able to work anything out. I know I'm not the first person to go through this, but I really feel like it shouldn't be this hard.

Dresses - Though the wedding is over a year a way, both my mom and my sister have their dresses already! I feel like a slacker. I’m going for a moss green / mauve / chocolate brown color scheme. So we happened to be at Boston Store during a Community Day sale, and we found a dress for my sister in the perfect color on clearance so we were able to use a 15% of coupon, plus the $10 Community Day coupon, and got her dress for $30. My mom picked hers up a few weeks later on Yellow Dot for $7. So they’re taken care of (again for now…) I heart Boston Store!

I’m a totally different story. I had a thread about this earlier, but I’ll put it in here too so everything is in the same place. I’ve been on a medication for the last 4 years that has made me gain well over 100 lbs. and I’m 5’1” so let’s just say I’m not at my cutest right now. I exercise and have a very restricted and rather health diet due to allergies, but nothing would help. One week I was super sick and didn’t eat anything for 3 days, and I gained weight!! Anyway, about 6 months ago, my doctor and I set out on a quest to find something else that was just as effective, but without the weight side effect. And we finally found a combination of things that we’re going to try and I started out this new regiment about a month ago, and I’ve already lost 25 lbs! And everything else seems to be staying the same. But, the big problem here is the dress. I don’t want to look for one now, because I will definitely be a different shape in 14 months. When I loose weight, by body shifts - it’s weird. But I don’t want to be scrambling at the last minute either. So with the help of some fellow DISbrides, I decided to fight my compulsion, and not even look (well, okay… not try on - I still look online ) at dresses until April. This still gives me 9 months until the wedding, and hopefully I’ll have a better idea of how the weight loss is going (though it would be awesome if I lost 25 lbs every month - I doubt that’ll happen) and how my body is shifting. I know that doesn’t give me a lot of time to hem and haw, so I hope that it will be okay. Oh well, it gives me something to worry about.

Invitations/Save the Date I’m planning on sending out a Save the date as soon as we get confirmation that we’re okay on the date, because there’s a lot of my family that we don’t really talk to, but have to invite because they’re family. So the Save the Date will be the engagement announcement, and then the Disney Save the Date will be “information” and then the formal invite.

So the save the date is the most pressing thing on my list at this point. I found some invitations that I LOVE from Rexcraft, but they would be over $800, which seems like a lot of money to spend on something that will eventually become garbage.

So I happened to be at “le boutique” (aka Target), and saw some invites on clearance for $3.48 for a box of 50 that had the mauve color of the dresses. So I picked up 2 boxes thinking that $7 isn’t that great of a loss if I don’t use them. They do look cheap, but I’m trying to find a velum wrap to put them in to fancify them a bit. But I’m having no luck. You’d think that this would be a common thing, but even the people at the stationary store are looking at me like I’m from Mars. Anyone have any suggestions?

I’ll probally make the STDs in Photo Shop and get magnet paper… but I really do like those invites from Rexcraft…

Welcome to another 2010 Bride! It begins!! :teeth:

Sorry to hear about the crazy FILs :( About the Officiant, could he marry you in Disney first and then back in your hometown? So in the eyes of the Church, the "vow renewal" would come first as such, and then just marry privately back at home, just the 2 of you so it would be recognised? I however also need to point out that I know absolutely nothing about this sort of thing, so more possible than not, I am totally wrong!

The WP is BEAUTIFUL! When you are stood inside, it is just wow. You won't regret your choice!

Sounds like it's going to be a long year of drama!!! Hopefully you'll be able to laugh about it one day! :)

At least you don't second guess every decision! I always think I know what I want then I make the decision and instantly I worry if it's the right one. I'm sure it will be though... Good luck in your planning and enjoy it... It goes so fast

Thats a great idea, but I asked our officiant, and since to Catholics concider marriage to be a Sacrament, it has to be preformed in the Church first. Especially since we're in different states, with different marriage license requirements. Oh well... We'll figure something out.

Sounds like it's going to be a long year of drama!!! Hopefully you'll be able to laugh about it one day! :)

Fortunately, I'm already laughing. Her reasonings are so ridiculous ( according to her, she's too old to travel! And she's 8 years younger than my parents (not to mention 35 years younger than my grandma who is also joining us)) So when she's making me want to pull my hair out, I'm able to step back and just say - oh yeah, she's nuts :cool2:

I'd rather be able to make a decision and then second guess it... I can't make a decision to save my life - I just over research everything until I drive everyone nuts

Okay.. so just a quick mini-update about the FMIL drama. We went out to dinner with them tonight (yes... we acctually forced her to leave her house so it can be done!!), and she actually started having a hissy in the resturant when we told them that we were 100% doing Disney.

On the plus side, Chris's dad started to open up to the idea, so there might be hope!! Though I'm not holding my breath.

Oh yeah... we also met with our officiant for our first meeting to discuss our options. Seriously, there were like 8 pages of options for us to look over, and from what I understand, the easiest thing for us to do is have Chris convert to Judaism :rotfl2:

Well that was totally un-productive update.

Now... off to patch the wall I accidently punched a hole in... :rolleyes1

Okay... sorta wedding related, but I'm so excited I have to share anyway :yay:

We were planning on going to Disney for a long weekend in March over our birthdays, to take advantage of the free park admission, and scope some locations since we haven't been there in a whie...

Well, I was pricing out our trips and accidently clicked the wrong dates and realized that becasue of the 4 3 promotion, it was acctually $70 cheaper for us to go for a week instead of 4 days, plus we'd get a $200 gift card - in addition to the $75 gift cards we'll each get for having passes on our birthdays. So... Essentially it was almost $400 cheaper for a week - that's airfair!!!

I looked at my vacation time, and we crunched some numbers (even though I'll be on a girls cruise to the Caribbean 2 weeks before, and therefore use up almost all my vacation time for 2009 by March....) We're going for a week!

However this means I've got about 3 months to plan a vacation :scared1:

Oh yes, this is the sister of the bride to be. Please, hold your applause ^_^ I'd like to start out by saying 'Yes, I think my sister is insane for planning planning planning 24/7 like she does' BUT if her wedding turns out anything like the vacations she's planned for the family, it's going to be MORE than perfect! She does a great job despite her supposed difficulty with making decisions ^_^'

I'm so excited for Jan 2010! They're FINALLY getting married and I get a free trip to Disney! How awesome is that?

Now, as I've been told many times, my job is to veto my mother on any decisions she 'decrees' that conflict with my sister's wants. This is an awesome job... but trying to veto my mother's decisions is like trying to throw a bee at a puppy: Very impractical and possibly dangerous for both parties involved. Though, when all of the conversations go:

Mom: You can't do that. It's an afternoon wedding.
Me: What does that mean?
Mom: It's an afternoon wedding.
Me: Well, yeah but how does that--
Mom: Afternoon wedding.

... sometimes, the comic value is worth it. (BTW... I still don't understand what the RULES are for an afternoon wedding but it seems like they must be very strict and if you break them, the wedding police come and beat you with baguettes while wearing the acceptable jewel tone cocktail / tea length dresses but certainly not tails).

Anyway... I DO have to clarify one or two things:
1. Yes. I did make fun of the fact that my sister's name was that of the lizard in The Rescuers Down Under. It was and STILL IS hysterical.

2. The Baby Mickey referred to is MINE! I had it. I still have it. And no... I have not washed it. ^_^' (and yes, it has traveled to Disney with me many a time)

3. And yes... the mother in law is crazy as beans.

4. And while I may have my dress for the wedding... it is fugly. Now, I understand that I, as the not so important person in the wedding, have to wear whatever I'm told to wear. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying... that it's fugly. It DOES fit the color scheme nicely. It's like a grayish pink (i believe they call it mauve) but I'm all polish and german so I'm kinda pink-ish myself and if we're in FL... let me put it this way, I see a picture of the sun and I turn into a tomato. Awesome. >_<

My final thought is that i hope my sister still lets me be in charge of the music for the wedding ceremony (any suggestions are more than welcome!!) and that I can help out with the disney wedding invitations. For whatever reason, graphic design is something I can spend hours doing and not getting bored with... much like how my current avi took me hours to color in pixel by pixel because there are NO screen caps of Panic on the internets ;_; and the only pic I could find was one that you can print out to color in with crayons or something. So yes, microsoft paint was my coloring agent.

So, thanks everyone for your nice comments to my older sis and I'll be hanging around here too ^_^ So if you have any suggestions for me for how to help her out, I would greatly appreciate it! ('cuz you know... I've never been in a wedding... and I have no idea what to do ^_^')

Hi Sis:wave2: Nice avatar (PS The wedding police work closely with the juice police, so you'd better watch out!)

I know I've been a bad disbride and not updating my journal, but between the holidays and going on vacation and planning for our vacation in March, and I have another vacation planned before then, and oh yeah - work...I've been quite busy. But I have a few updates

Since my DS thinks her dress is fugly, we'll put it up to a vote! What do you all think? Here's the supposedly fugly dress

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/IM000773.jpg

and a close up of the detail...
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/IM000774.jpg

I think it's a nice purple/pink color with cute detail, since my colors are going to be dark mauve and light green. But if you'll think that it'll look weird on her paleness - by all means let me know.

Here's my mom's outfit:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/IM000771.jpg

I'm still not sold on the CG - I really like the AAP, I've seen such pretty pictures of it. We've made arrangements with the WC to see a few places when we're down there in March.

I was able to find an old picture of DF and I... It's old - I'm much more "fluffy" now (though I am down 50 lbs and counting - yay new meds!) and it's like over exposed, but it'll have to hold you over until March.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/125_2506.jpg

Other than that, I'm going to my first bridal show on Saturday, so hopefully I'll have some ideas and stuff this weekend.

23 days until I'm 1 year out!

Okay, so even if the dress isn't fugly in an of itself... the jacket definitely is >_<

And if you want a good laugh, check out my signature. Unfortunately it seems that the pic is too large for the forum to support.

EDIT: Now the pic referenced to is posted below in this thread. HOWEVER... my sig is still funny ^_~*

Anyway... sure the dress looks okay on the hanger... that's how marketing works. They trick you with their trickiness. >_< But I insist that on the pasty / pinky - ness that is me... it don't look so good.

But thanks Trudy88 for your vote of confidence! I shall wear my dress with much pride ^_^ It's true though... it could be much much worse compared to what MegKate's link suggests! *shudders*

We're fans of snow? Really???

Acctually I narrowly excaped a Christmas Eve snow storm and headed out on a cruise ship in the Caribbean with the fam. Nothing says Merry Christmas like sipping Champagne from your balcony! I'm a huge cruising freak - going again in February :) I'm still at work, but I'll post a few picts tonight - since DS is on the boards now, I think the one of her holding an alligator is a must!

your sister's dress is lovely!

Thanks! I thought so too.

I'm glad she's amusing someone :rotfl2: Congratulations on your wedding! Maybe we'll bump into each other! I'm still in shock that it's almost a year away. When I started my counter was at like 530 days - it's been flying! I feel like a slacker!

Welcome!

Um, Panic... have you met MY sister?!!?!? (She patented the :cool2: during her wedding planning.) She's all over my PJ

Joanna- I think the jacket is well, not awful... but certainly not great. I like the dress itself, but I might switch out the jacket for a chiffon shawl.

About Bob- Can you have Bob officiate your DFTW and then once you get home have him officiate your church wedding? Then he gets to do both and you don't have to worry about giving his parents an excuse.

About your locations- You can read my PJ, I switched my locations after my sight visit. Don't worry about that.

About the crazy parents: Don't worry about them. Hopefully they'll come around and if they don't, they don't.

Also, a word of advice... I've had lurked on these boards for a few years before I actually logged on and posted. One of the brides was writing similar things about her MIL and somehow they got back to the MIL.... from what I recall, it wasn't pretty. (She said something and one of her MIL's friends found it accidentally and posted and it was such drama.... and she ended up deleting her whole TR) So I might keep that in mind when you post. We're such a good group here that it's hard to remember that any random person can read what you are writing without posting..... I assume you don't need any more drama than you already have!

I agree with Lindsay, I have seen a couple of girls pull their PJ/TR's because they were blowing off steam about the in-laws(mother and/or sister), ungrateful BM's, DF's friends.

Don't start your relationship with your in-laws off on the wrong foot.

Advice from someone who's been married 14 yrs and who has a 90 yr old Polish MIL. So I've been there and done that more times than I care to mention.

Ahh... I'll have to rember that my sister isn't threatening to create her own boa-clad church - yet :cool2: (I'm a huge lurker on your PJ it's hilarious!)

I do agree wiht you that the jacket is a bit '80s, I like the idea of a greenish shawl to soften it and bring out the detail! That might also help panic's fear of being washed out.

Unfortunately, to make it "legal" we have to be married first, or technically he's comitting a big no-no and could face huge consequences with the church. Since I'd rather not get him excommunicated, we're still working on a solution....

I know what you mean about being careful - I think I'm okay so far since I've pretty much said what I said on the boards to her face as well -- so there's nothing that could really get me in trouble. But it's good to keep in mind that it is a public forum, it's easy to forget. Thanks

Woo Hoo... I'm almost 1 year out! Though I'll admit it feels sort of anti-climatic.

I was a busy bee this weekend, so I've got a few updates.

First - We bought my wedding ring. We were at the mall and a store was having a huge clearance sale, so I just was looking, and found a ring that matched my e-ring quite well, originally a $1,500 ring, but since it was on clearance I got it for UNDER $200 :cool1: I haven't been able to get a good pict yet, but I will post when I do.

Second - I started on my STDs and hope to have them out early Feb. We have a lot of family in other states that we don't talk to regularly, so we're sending STD's a year out to get the word out...They're not quite finished yet, but I'll post when I have them...

Third - my mom and I went dress shopping for the first time. I figured that this would take forever, so we wanted to start early - but won't order until April (since I'm still loosing a ton of weight- though you can't tell from the pictures...). I didn't think I'd find anything, but I acutally found a few that I like.... so I'll let you all weigh in - as long as you ignore the make-up less, pulled through a rathole look I'm rockin' ;)

First Dress: I'd have it altered to have some type of thick straps - my DDD's can't be trusted on their own :lmao:

And a close up of the detailing...

And the Train...

I really like the first one. I am pretty busty myself and I was surprised that a strapless dress looked good on me. I was worried and even bought a bolero but I decided not to wear it.

I don't want this to sound rude but I don't care for the halter top style dresses. I don't think it is flattering on busty types, I think it draws too much attention to the bust. The open neckline of the first is very flattering and elongating.

Coming from another busty girl, i completely understand wanting straps. :upsidedow I am still contemplating getting some cap sleeves for my dress.... anywho, I really like the third dress best! I think the detail is absolutely gorgeous and I think it looks very nice on you! I am pretty picky b/c I have such a hard time finding dresses and shirts that fit well. Halters are hit or miss. As long as you don't feel like you are going to fall out the side, and you are comfy in it, I think you should be fine! :goodvibes It looks beautiful on you! :thumbsup2

My vote is for dress number 1!! Simply because of the picture you sent me that you didn't put up on here!!

YOU LOOK HAPPIEST IN THAT ONE!!

I like the back of dress number 3 best, and the seagull that collided with your head in dress number 2.

I'm not sold on the veil yet. Looks best with your hair down but if the veil means no dead seagull... I say go for the plumage.

one vote for #2

I liked that one too - but mom not so much. It was the only one we disagreed on. The detailing was beautiful - and the neckline was much more open than on the 2nd one... and with a modesty panel there would be no chance of a wardrobe malfunction ;)

I like number 1 if you can have the straps/cap sleeves added otherwise number 3 the detailing is so pretty....They are all beautiful dresses good luck making your choice....:goodvibes

Vote #2 for dress 1. we did talk to the seamstress at the shop and she said the halter was 100% doable and the fabric from the designer is only $25 a yard....

No worries no seagulls were harmed in the making of the head piece. The hair went up because it kept getting caught in the dresses and I was afraid of going bald. I doubt I'll have a veil either, but my kept sticking them on my head going "ooh that one is pretty - really nice for an evening wedding" "that one is okay for an afternoon wedding, but you're having an evening wedding..." UGH... I'm considering changing the time of my wedding again just to mess with her :rotfl2:

I still haven't finished the STDs, but I'm running out of other things to do besides cleaning and laundry, so I'll get to them soon :lmao:

I would go with whatever dress makes you feel the most comfortable, I am a busty girl myself (34E when at my ideal weight) so I know what you mean about wanting straps. On me I am not too keen on how they make my shoulders look, so I am going to invest in a great corset bra to go underneath. There is a company called Scarlett's corset that makes ones with steel closures and aluminum boning to give great support for us. But we still have to tread with caution, keep the girls from running a muck lol. A piece of advice I received for a well taught drag queen, the busty girls should go with a straight across top or a slightly curved neckline, and stay away from a sweetheart or too deep into the cleavage. All that being said, I vote for dress #1:thumbsup2

I like the idea of straps too, they make such pretty sleeve/strap opitons that will look very delicate with your dress. let us know what you decide :)

I have Joe. And I believe you're right. He said we could begin the letter of agreement since we have "special venues", but we decided to wait until March after we saw the locations to make a decision. The way I understood it is that now that I'm "penciled in" I can't be bumped by another wedding (I think I still could by a convention...but not a wedding) I'm not 100% sure on this - I was kind of given the impression that my date is pretty open, so I think I'm safe :thumbsup2

I'm sure you'll be fine. Like I said, it was so anti-climactic.... I didn't want sky writing persay... I would have settled for a national holiday or a Presidential decleration :rotfl2:

I don't know what I was expecting - but this wasn't it... But alt least now I feel more secure that I have the date. Wait... that means I have NO excuse to not do my STDs... CRAP! (Yours are awesome by the way)

I'm just doing a traditional STD card - and then doing all the information stuff on a website - yeah have to do that still too... Damn I'm lazy! I think my problem is that most of my job is formatting and coordinating legal update mailings, so the last thing I want to do when I get home is open up photoshop and work on another mailing :sad2:

I promise I'll post one once I've got them done... this weekend...(unless the Superbowl is a good game :lmao: )

Did you decide on a dress yet?

pirate: away! Who doesn't love a pollution smily face ;)

No decision yet. I went to a shop that is going out of business tonight and tried on a million dresses. It was/is a special sizes special occasion dress shop that has informal wedding gowns too. So I was trying on all kinds of dresses, and so was my mom. Everything was 75% - 90% off. Most dresses weere $89. Bys of course, I couldn't find anything that looked good on me.. Why would I be able to save money?? :rotfl2:

None of these dresses were even picture worthy - they were all just BAD. Most made me look like a short pudggy sparkly sausage - just what I want to look like for my wedding - a bedazzled side dish!

However, I did get the deal of the CENTURY... The shop specailzed in larger sizes, so naturally they had special sized undergarments... so I got 2 corset bras in a 42FF for $10 total this is absolutly AMAZING! They're normally $100 - $140 :cheer2: :cheer2:

We're going again next weekend to a different store. I have a feeling I'm going to try on like a million dresses and then settle on the first dress... that's just how I am :sad2:

Woo Hoo or ME tags and luggage tags for our March trip came today :cool1:

We leave in just over a month... and 2 weeks before that I'll be soaking up the sun in the Caribbean with my mom :beach: Let's just hope I survive that trip (she's already threatening to throw me overboard by the 3rd day) and can make it to Disney.

I'm re-arranging my ADRs and planning out our days. We haven't been to WDW since 2004, so we've got lots of planning to do. I'm trying to plan time to go resort hopping so we can check everything out, but I know I'm going to be all about the parks!

I've been working tons of hours lately because one of our offices is moving, and we have tons of communications to put out for that on top of my normal job. What's wrong with these people :sad2: Don't they know I have a wedding to plan, and Disboards to read :confused3

In wedding news... I finally finished my save the dates, and they're remarkably boring for how long they took me. I'm working our website right now, and once that's done, I'll post the STDs. Hopefullyby this weekend. I wanted to send these out 2 weeks ago! :bored: (we need a slcker smilie) I really want to get these out!

Oh... and I got in touch with a friendly Diser on the DVC rent/trade boards and fingers crossed my parents will have a grand villa at BLT for us to get ready in the day of the wedding!!

I'm going dress shopping agin on Sunday, so hopefully I'll have some more picts.

See...you are making progress despite the work overload.
We just purchased BLT membership and I can't wait to stay there for the wedding and honeymoon, but I think we will just be in a studio the morning of the wedding so we don't have to haul the luggage back and forth for one night.
Everything sounds great...can't wait to hear more and see the pics.

So we went dress shopping yesterday, and bare with me... cuz I swear it's worth reading the whole story.
I tried on like 8 million dresses (okay I tried on like 20...but it felt like more) and my mom and I wittled it down to 2 choices - one very elegant gold dress, with a chapel length train and asymetrical pick-ups. I :lovestruc, but it seriously looked like Belle's dress - okay so if I wasn't getting married at Disney, the thought wouldn't have crossed my mind, but I am so it did... It was also much more formal that I wanted... I kept thinking about how great it would look with what I was going to do if I'd have gotten married at home.. but not so much with what I was going for at Disney.
So I was starting to talk myself out of that one, and choice 2 was a very pretty A-line dress with a scoop-neck halter and head-to-toe embroidery and beading. It had just a very small sweep train, and was so different than anything we had seen, we really liked that one too. It didn't have the "wow" factor of the first one, but it had the "intriguing simplicity" that I was looking for.
So we were discussing and assuming that we'd just go home and think about it there. So my mom asks the consultant "how much are they?" And she replies, while sort of shifting in her shoes... "well this one [gold] is $970" -us- okay, that's what we've been looking at... we'll keep it in mind..."and this one [white] is the last one we have, so it's on sale...it was $1,200...now it's $89." -us- $89?? We didn't hear that right... $89? Yes. :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

Okay, we'll take that one! We also bought a veil which was $145, so I think it's HILARIOUS that my veil cost more than my dress! :rotfl2:

I bought my wedding dress for $89!!!!

It was about 1-2 sizes too big, so we'll need to alter it, but even if I spend several hundred on on alterations, I'm still WAY ahead. Especially since I was going to have to have it altered if I ordered it or not. (on a side note - I tried on a dress that was supposed to be "tea length" and it was too long on me! :rotfl:)

In our utter shock we totally forgot to take pictures, find out the designer or the style #, or do anything a normal person would have done. Neither of us could believe it and we just wanted to get the heck out of there before they came to their senses and told us the price was wrong. but I'm going to pick it up from the store this week to store at home so we can pick out shoes and jewlery and stuff, so I'll take pictures then I promise.

Okay so that's my BIG news... I really can't top that.... I made a decision about photography, and we're going to go with Randy. And made an appointment to have e-pics taken when we're down there in March.

So I finally don't feel like a wedding slacker! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I know, I can't believe it either! We originally weren't even going to buy the veil yesterday, but it matched and we felt guilty that the consultant had spent like 3 hrs. with us and we bought an $89 dress :rotfl:

I'm kicking myself for not taking pictures and leaving the dress there. The shop was closed today, and I have an event to work at tomorrow until 9, so I won't be able to stop then either. Grrr :headache:

I'm down over 70 lbs already. I'm actually begining to notice it myself.

I am not a bride, but I have an idea about your catholic wedding problem. If your officiant Bob is coming down to Orlando with you, would it be possible for him to marry the two of you inside a catholic church in Orlando in the early morning of your wedding day very quietly and then have the cremony at Disney in the afternoon as planned?

Thanks for the idea. I asked, and it would be possible, he would have to get special permission from our Archdiocese to preform a ceremony in FL, and then from the FL Archdiocese to preform a ceremony in their area.. and then find a church in FL that would allow us to do so - on a Sunday. It's all just so complicated! We talked to my mom, and (at least for now) she's okay with not being involved in the "official" ceremony at home and just accept the one in FL. So being able to keep that "family free" will uncomplicate it and we'll have friends witness then no feeling are hurt and we're the evil ones if it comes out. So in short, to keep things simple, we'll be married before we get married :rotfl2:

Okay - so this weekend turned into non-stop work craziness, and next week doesn't look better, and (poor me) I'm going to the Caribbean with my mom next weekend - so I don't think I'll make it out to pick up my dress before we go to Disney in March. But never-fear my mom snuck a picture before we left - though they're not of me in the dress, it'll give you an idea.

It's Demetrios - but I don't know the style #

It's a scoop halter - A-line with all-over detailing

here's the detail:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Picture007.jpg

And here's the whole dress in it's on the hanger blob-like glory
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Picture006.jpg

Other than that I'm so busy with real-life stuff that I'm not doing too much wedding stuff right now.

I decided to wait to send the STDs until after our site visit in March to make sure that we still like the locations that we've picked out after we see them. My family is confused easily, and I'm indecisive - not a good combination :rotfl:

zOMG I haven't been on here FOREVER!!! Sorry sis.

But wait... I'm not that sorry. You just went on a cruise and then you were in Disney for a week with mom and dad while I was busy MOVING!! Lame >_<

Alright, so playing catch up here. You have the date and the places set post this trip to Disney (that I wasn't invited on). You have the dress and the veil. You at least have the material for the STDs if not the entire content. What else do you still need to do?

Thanks for posting the pic of your dress. The design on it kinda matches what we got for my dress... even though I'm pretty sure traditionally we're supposed to match it the other way around ^_^' But regardless... I can't wait to see you in it ^_^ even if it does have "blob-like glory"

I'm so proud of you for losing 70lbs already! I'm gonna have to get on that train too. Living in amish country for 8 months did not do wonders for my figure. eh-heh.

Any more news on the MIL front??

Keep us posted! You know how nosey we all are! ^_~*

P.S. The pics of me are great ^_^' I love the one of me being attacked by the swarm of leaf-birds.

Saturday - We’re HEEEEERE

After waking up ungodly early Saturday morning, and trudging to the airport - bright pink suitcase in tow - and getting caught in a security line and almost missing the plane…. We were off!! The flight itself was uneventful and we were so tired that we both slept most of the way anyway. When we finally touched down in Orlando and began to gather our stuff, reality set it. About 3 years ago I broke my foot. I’m not really sure how - I was just standing there and then CRUNCH. It wasn’t a bad break, but it never healed properly, so I occasionally have trouble with it. Especially on planes. The change in pressure causes it to swell, and it makes it hard and painful to walk. I’ve been doing pretty well on my last few plane trips, but this one was horrible. I was almost in tears! Every time I put pressure on my foot it felt like it might explode. But I so excited to be in Disney that I would hobble and then sit and hobble and sit. It was pathetic. I’m sure I looked crazy, but we eventually made it to the ME line and waited and waited, while I whined and texted my mom to tell her we'd landed.

Finally we got on the bus and it was nap time again for me. DF finally woke me up because we hit the “Welcome to Disney World” sign - so no picture  And we were at POP shortly. I’d never stayed at a value before - and I’m not quite sure I will ever again - more on that later - so I wasn’t sure what to expect. We checked in around noon and pleasantly, there was a room available for us. So we trudged to our room to drop off our carry-ons and head out. I had chosen a non-prefered room to save some cash, so I was expecting to have a room at the edge on the universe… So I was pleasantly surprised when we got our room location on the 4th floor of the 70s building - right by Classic Hall. After quickly scoping our new digs and deciding that they were fine since we didn’t plan on spending much time in the room anyway, we were off to Animal Kingdom. This was a last minute flip a coin decision which park to go to since our Original flight was supposed to land at 3:30 and we didn’t think we’d get any park time. Animal Kingdom turned out to be a genius choice! We arrived around 2:30 to throngs of people leaving the park. It was only open until 5 that day, and my guess was people were leaving to switch parks. So after grabbing some grub from Flame Tree BBQ (Sorry no pictures - but I’m pretty sure you all know what BBQ chicken looks like) and being attacked by some overly aggressive ducks…. We headed to Dinosaur because it was closest. We were just going to grab a fast pass, when we looked at the standby time - 5 minutes. Okay - we’ll do that.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/125_2501.jpg

Yes, we're geeks – this is our favorite sign!

5 minutes later we emerged and decided to head to Everest.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0114.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0115.jpg

There was a 15 minute standby wait for this, but a CM came up to us and asked us if we’d like fast passes - hells yah! So we walked right on Everest and then stood in the stand by line for 10 minutes and rode it again. By then the stand by time was 20 minutes, so being line snobs we got fast passes and went on one of the jungle treks, and then headed to Kali River Rapids, there was only a 5 minute wait there, but we decided that we weren’t in the mood to get wet. Where are all the people? So we went back to Everest and rode it 3 more times with no wait. It was about 4:45 at this point, so we decided to head back to the hotel and get ready for our dinner reservations. But on the way we passed Dinosaur and decided to ride that 2 more times, and then head out. Note to self - go to AK in the afternoon! So we headed back to the hotel where our luggage was waiting for us, and unpacked and changed and went straight to the busses. We just hopped on the first bus that was there - it happened to be Epcot - to catch a bus to the AK lodge. We got there a bit early, and went out in the back to the savanna to see the animals. Once we arrived, I requested a table in the wine room so I could scope it out since there was to be a meeting there when we had our site visit and we wouldn’t be able to see it then. We sat at the bar and started talking to the bartender - DF used to work at a brewery, so he befriends just about every bartender we meet by talking technical beer stuff (yawn) Well it turns out that this bartender is from our home town! He asked DF where he was from, and he said M-wa-kee. The bartender laughed and said - well yes you are! (If you haven’t ever been to Milwaukee, this probally doesn’t make sense, but we really can tell if someone isn’t from the area, because they pronounce the “l”) So we were talking to him for a while, and the buzzer went off, and I went to get the table and DF was going to pay the bar tab. Well 30 min. later, he came and joined me. Apparently the bartender went to the same high school as us (a few years earlier than us) and knew some of the same people (insert demonic children singing that annoying song….)

So anyway, as I was waiting for DF, I was scoping the room out and the manager came over to talk to me. I’m sure I looked weird staring at the walls and stuff. And I explained that I was having my wedding reception at Disney and I was down there looking at spaces and I was interested in that room, but it was unavailable when I had my site visit. So she graciously started explaining everything to me and brought menus and a business card. The space was awesome, but it’s not really what I’m going for, but I’m glad I saw it - it’s way prettier in person than in the pictures my WC sent me.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/dis-wedding/JikoWineRoom2.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/dis-wedding/WineRoom2.jpg

So we ordered dinner. We hadn’t really eaten anything all day except the 1/2 chicken at AK that we split, so we were both starving. We ordered the mussels right away and then began deliberating about what else to get. The mussels came out and we ordered the duck salad to split, DF ordered the ribs and I got the Shrimp. We’re eating our mussels, and then the duck salad is brought to our table. How tacky - it sat there since we were obviously still eating. (Sorry I should warn - I’m a total snob when it comes to service) Finally we finished our mussels and started on the duck salad which was ok- not what I was expecting. My shrimp was way too spicy, but the server warned me it would be spicy - I just wasn’t expecting it to be that spicy - you know? But it was my fault, so I didn’t say anything. So by this time we’re stuffed, but we were on the dining plan so we had to get dessert. I ordered the chocolate cheesecake and DF got the lemon curd with blueberries. In what would become a common theme on this trip - I liked his dessert better than mine and vice versa. So we switched. By this point we were stuffed, when the manager I had been talking to earlier comes out with a crème brule and congratulates us on our engagement. How sweet. We obliged and managed to eat most of it. After we waddled out of Jiko and onto a bus to Downtown Disney, we had planned on wandering around downtown, but we were both so tired and full that we just hopped on our bus back to the POP and called it a night.

Sunday - In the future…everything will be broken!
I had sworn to myself and Chris that I would relax on this trip, so I tried my hardest. I allowed us *DF* to sleep until almost 10:30 the first morning before getting antsy and demanding that he get up and we go to EPCOT. Now I love DF, but to say he’s not a morning person would be the understatement of the year. He’s like one of those cartoon characters that is all bleary eyed until someone cracks their head open and pours a bunch of coffee down their throat. So by me waking him up at 10:30, he had finally showered and gotten dressed by 11:45. I was going nuts at this point. I was nearly pacing around the room. He was still groggy so we when to the POP food court to get him some coffee, and then be on our way. By the time we reached EPCOT he was finally registering things and able to have a conversation and complaining he was hungry. Ahh - love. So once we entered EPCOT...

we headed straight to Sunshine Seasons and to get a fast pass to Soarin’. I have no idea what I had to eat - it obviously wasn’t memorable - but I did get the carrot cake - EWW. Now I like carrot cake a lot. In fact when I lived with my grandpa, we had it almost every night since it was his favorite. But this was so icky sweet and processed tasting I couldn’t stomach it. DF’s apple pie was delicious though  So our Soarin’ fast passes weren’t good until 5:45, so we decided to go on the little boat ride through the green houses. DF had never been on them and there was no wait.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0117.jpg
wow – pumpkins! Exciting!

Then we headed to Mission Space, which was a favorite of ours when were there in 2004, but we only got to ride 3 times because the lines were always so long. This time there was never more than a 20 minute wait. So we rode it 2 times in a row. Then we went to Test track and once again got to the front of the line and the ride went down. Before this trip, I’d actually only ever gotten as far as the seat belt check - the ride always seems to break when I’m on it. So about 10 minutes later, the ride comes back online, and we were off. DF liked it, but I must say I was rather bored by the ride. It was like 3:00 so we headed to Mexico for a margarita. We did the little ride, and that broke down too, right near the end, so for like 10 minutes we got to listen to Donald sputtering “Adios Amigos” not annoying at all. Then we then headed through Norway, but the line for Maelstrom was like 45 minutes, so we went on to China.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0120.jpg

There we got some Plum wine slushie thing that was delicious, and decided to head back to Soarin’ for our fast pass time. We did Soarin’ and then headed to the Living Seas because I was curious what they did with Nemo. Well than that blasted ride broke too (Seriously either EPCOT’s getting all hoopty or it’s me!) We decided that Epcot’s new slogan should be “In the future - mechanics will still have jobs” So we swore off rides for the rest of the day and went back to drinking around the world.

We were going to take the boat to Germany since we didn’t care about missing the Outpost, but the dock at Germany is broken, so we ended up getting off at Mexico and stopping in Norway for some school bread and an almond pretzel thingy. This was the one time where we liked what we ordered better that what each other ordered. We headed up to Germany and DF got a beer and I ogled the pretty glass necklaces. We the went to Italy where I got a Rosa Regale which was good, but a bit too sweet for me. We stopped to take an obligatory picture

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0132.jpg

By the time we hit Japan I was plumb tuckered out so we headed to France to stake our spot on the French Arm to watch Illuminations, except someone was having their wedding reception on the lower island and the whole thing was blocked off. The really nice CM let me scope out the Arm (since it was only being used as a kitchen) and but she requested we not take pictures, so we did that later in the trip. So then we went over the bridge to gawk at the reception for a bit - couldn’t really see much. I wasn’t too concerned since we were going back later that week and I’d get to watch them then. I was getting tired and crabby, so we just headed back to the hotel and skipped illuminations.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0133.jpg

Once we got to the hotel though, I decided I was hungry, and we hopped on the bus to DDD. We went to WPE and had dinner - good but not memorable - I think I had the mac and cheese. I was so stuffed and crabby and my feet hurt that again we skipped walking around downtown and just headed back to the hotel.

Monday - Tonga Toast, Paparazzi, and Rollercoasters - Oh My!

(sorry for the lack of pictures – I was really crabby this day)

Today Stitch woke me up at 7:30 - seriously, they need a less annoying character for the wake-up calls! And I got showered and ready for our pictures with Randy. I was fully showered and dressed with makeup on when DF finally had enough of me clanging about and got up himself. We went to get him coffee and hopped on the bus to the MK. We then took the monorail to the Poly to try some Tonga Toast. The whole time I’m freaking out because I’m second guessing myself and I’ve convinced myself we’re meeting Randy at 9:30, not 10:30. I brilliantly left all the info including his phone number and appointment time on my desk at work. DF is telling me I’m nuts and to enjoy my breakfast. So we get to Captain Cook’s and order our Tonga toast (mmmmm) and I try to relax. It’s not working, so I convince DF to go to the GF as soon as we’re done gobbling our Tonga toast in record time. So we hopped on the monorail and proceeded to wait in the GF lobby for 45 minutes, because we were supposed to meet him at 10:30. Geesh. I really am a spaz.

So we finally meet Randy and start taking pictures - which I will post as soon as I get. It was sort of funny as we’re taking our pictures 2 separate times people stopped him to tell him that he took pictures at their or their daughters or whomever’s wedding. It was kind of weird/cool.

So after we ditched our paparazzi, we headed to DHS, where we found… All the people that hadn’t been at the other parks!! It was a mad house. So we wandered into Muppets and then to the stunt show.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0135.jpg

I think we hit Star Wars too. I was really quite overwhelmed with all the people and just in a pissy mood, so I wanted to head to the boardwalk for our dinner reservations, but DF really wanted to ride Rockin’ Rollercoaster. So we looked at the standby line and it said 30 minutes. That would be okay, so we jumped in. 45 minutes later, I’m getting antsy and worried we’ll miss our reservations, so we finally get on Rocking Rollercoaster and the book it out of the park. My feet were killing me, so I resigned to taking the boat even though they’re slooooooooooooooow.

So we got off at the Swalphin and walked/ran to the Flying Fish. We checked in like 2 minutes late, but whateves. We were told our table would be ready in just a few minutes. So we sat down and proceeded to watch people with reservations and walk-ups get seated before us. It was starting to get a bit ridiculous. So I walked up to the counter and politely pointed out we had been waiting for over 20 minutes and were wondering how much longer of a wait we should expect. The host looked at me with this look of panic like I’d just told him I wanted to eat his brains and told me just a few more minutes. I went and sat down and watched the hosts and managers behind the counter scurry around and talk in hushed tones. They had lost our little receipt and given our table to a walkup group.

So we finally got seated and had a lovely dinner - except the waiter kept picking on me! It was all in good fun, but I was crabby and I had to restrain myself from snapping “if I wanted to be ridiculed at dinner I would have booked Whispering Canyon” DF really wanted the cheese pate which was quite boring, and then I had the Salmon and he had Scallops I think. Quite delicious. In fact we both agreed that this was the best meal we had there - and then came dessert. I had chocolate peanut butter bread pudding. I can’t even describe how good it was. I regretted having the yummy tuna because I could only eat one. It was that amazing. I was so enthralled with my dessert I have no idea what DF had - Key lime pie maybe? I had no interest in trying whatever he was eating mine was that good! It made my mood significantly better

So then we headed back to DHS because they had EMH and we rushed to Toy Story Mania because the line had been consistently over 90 minutes all day. It was at about 35, so we hopped in. After this I was ready to hit rocking roller coaster again, but the line was 70 minutes.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0137.jpg
DF upon learning he'd have to wait in another line.

We later learned that this was spring break week and there were over 50 high school groups at WDW that week for various music goings on. So naturally they were all at the roller coasters and not drinking around the world so we hadn’t run into them yet. So we hopped in the single rider line and were in and out in like 25 minutes. We figure that on rides like that you’re not clinging to each other and the only reason to be in the same car is to get the picture, and that wasn’t going to happen so whatever. We checked out TOT too, but the line was crazy long and neither of us are huge fans, so we just headed back to the hotel.

Tuesday - Mmmmm alcohol...wait - what's that on my bed??

So Tuesday we had a MK day. We were both tired and I woke up at 3 am coughing and hacking and feeling like my throat was on fire. Everyone at my work had been sick the week before I left and I told myself I refused to get sick before our engagement pictures. So apparently hours after they were done, it was time for me to get sick. So popped some cold pills that I’d wisely brought along in anticipation and crawled back into bed. But I couldn’t get comfortable in that tiny bed with DF so I crawled into the other bed and in a unprecedented event - DF woke up before me! He looked at me really concerned like why are you in the other bed, did I kick you out? I explained that I wasn’t feeling well and didn’t want to disturb him - he seemed relieved. Originally I had a 7:00 reservation at Kona, but Chris’s friend called and they were in Orlando as well and headed to the MK that day, so we thought we’d meet up with them and watch the fireworks DF wanted me to cancel the ressie, but there were no concrete plans, so I compromised and switched our Kona reservations to 9pm. Can I just say that the hold music that Disney Dining has is the most annoying ever!

So we headed to the MK around 1:00 and immediately started doing every ride/attraction in sight. We did Stitch - why??? And TTT and Space Ranger Spin and Astro Orbiter. Then we got a fast pass to Space Mountain and headed to Pooh and Snow White and PhilharMagic. The we went back to Space Mountain - why did I love that ride when I was little? I think I’m still sore from it! We grabbed some lunch at Cosmic Rays - our only “junk” food of the trip! We really hadn’t waited in a line longer than 15 minutes so when the Peter Pan line said 30 we said “why not” And HOUR and a HALF (no joke) later we got on the ride. I have no idea what was going on, or why we didn’t just ditch the line, but we waited and let me tell you I like the Peter Pan ride, but so not worth a 90 minute wait!

So after that I was pissed and did not want to wait in line, so we hopped on the train and took it to Frontier Land.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0143.jpg
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0144.jpg
DF really liked the train for some weird reason.

Where again we discovered all the people. The line was over 90 minutes long. They apparently were all in line for Splash Mountain because Big Thunder Mountain had a 10 minute wait. So we road that like 3 times. We grabbed a fast pass for Splash Mountain, and then headed to Adventure land. Where we literally walked on Pirates - like I said all the people were in line for Splash Mountain. Feeling cocky we went in the line for Jungle cruise and planned to hit the Tiki Room next. Well the stupid Jungle cruise line was over an hour as well - again, I don’t know what the problem was. So we went back to Big Thunder Mountain and road that like 3 more times before our fast passes became good for Splash Mountain. All day DF had been trying to get a hold of his friend to no avail - glad I didn’t cancel our ressie! So it was almost time for Wishes and we headed to Main Street to get a good spot.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0197.jpg
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0197.jpg

After Wishes we hopped on the monorail and headed to the Poly. After checking in at Kona we headed to the bar where I discovered my new favorite drink - the Magical Star. Okay yes, it has a glow cube, but it’s delicious as well. Mmmmmm. Finally at 9:30 we were seated and our waitress seemed frazzled. After about 10 minutes I realized why. The table next to us was demanding and rude, the table behind us had 3 children in full melt-down mode, and the one on the other side of us was trying like hell to get out of there! So she comes and takes our order and I started out the way I always do - telling the wait staff about my strawberry and beer allergies. So she looks at me and says - well don’t even think about ordering the chicken (which had strawberries on it) I wasn’t planning on it, but I really didn’t need the attitude - like it’s my fault that I have an allergy. The chef came out and talked to me, and I promised it wasn’t a big deal and we continued our meal. The waitress did calm-down and warm up a bit after the two tables around us left. I think she was just having one of those days. She told us that the rude table next to us had several allergies that they didn’t mention until after they’d eaten dessert and then got mad at the waitress for not telling them that their was cinnamon in the bread or something to that effect. Still - not my problem - I don’t need your ‘tude - I was nice about my allergy!

So then I ordered a Lapu Lapu and I think she felt bad for me for snapping at me because what she came back with was the biggest Lapu Lapu I’ve ever seen. Seriously, It was bigger than my head!

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0149.jpg
The one I had later in the trip was 1/2 the size!

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0148.jpg
Mmmmm alcohol-y

I decided my new tactic to get rid of my cold was to get all the germs drunk so they’d pass out and leave me alone. So I drank the whole thing myself 

We had a sushi roll which was okay, and then I had the macadamia crusted Mahi Mahi and some chocolate dessert. As you can tell from my description, it was good - not great.

Stuffed to our gills we headed to the bus. It was almost 11:30, so the only bus we could take was to DDD. When we got there the bus to the POP was pulling away, but he stopped for us and the other 3 families that got off the Poly bus - how nice. So we headed back to our room and I was full and a bit buzzed from my gigantic rum-filled pineapple (Panic- it’s filled with 151 - for realz!) so imagine the double-take I did when I looked at the bed expecting maybe a towel animal, and saw this instead.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0150.jpg
EWWW someone’s binky is on my bed. EWWWWWWWW.

After DF assuring me that he hadn’t been sucking on a pacifier the night before, I called the front desk - in shock. The response was to ball up the sheets and put it outside the door. I hung up and thought about that and decided that was the stupidest thing in the world. So I got my shoes on and proceeded to the front desk to talk to a manager. DF was grumbling and said he was going to bed (in the non-binkyafied bed of course), so I went alone. I politely asked to see a manager and explained my situation. I could see the manager getting yelled at by a different family, and decided I definitely wasn’t going to go that route. I just explained that I wanted to report it because I wanted to make sure no one else was in our room, and that it was being cleaned everyday, since we’d been there for 4 days so a pacifier just randomly showing up in our room was a bit icky. The manager laughed and said she understood - but in my opinion didn’t seem as shocked as I thought she should have. She said she’d talk with housekeeping and run a report on our door to make sure no one had been in there. She offered to have someone come in and change the sheets that night, but DF was already asleep, so I declined. Instead I let that thing mock me all night.

Wednesday - 3-2-1- Bust!

Wednesday was the day I had been looking forward to all week. Shuttle day! I’ve been OBSESSED with NASA since I was a child. In fact I often joke with DF that the only reason I would consider taking his last name (Kranz) is so I could tell people I am related to my hero Gene Kranz of Apollo 13 Flight Director fame. Seriously, when we’d have to write papers about “great Americans” in grade school I’d always choose him, and no one would know who he was. I’m such a dork! So imagine the squeeling and screaming that went on when the day before we left for Orlando NASA announced that the shuttle would be launched on Wednesday. I almost had to pull to the side of the road I was so excited when I heard this on the radio. I immediately called my dad and we began making plans to meet and drive out to the coast. My parents were planning on being in FL that week visiting friends in Tampa and then coming to our site visit on Thursday, and then to a conference on Friday. So on Wednesday, I was like a little kid running around our room jumping up and down so excited about getting to see the shuttle launch.

I woke up at like 7am just full of energy - but voiceless. So we headed to the AK to knock out a few rides before we met my parents. Well we managed to do the Safari - once.

Ohh...animals
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0167.jpg
more animals....
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0158.jpg
and for a change of pace – water animals.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0154.jpg

That was about it. And we even had a fast pass. AK is one of those parks that everyone and their brother goes to in the morning, and then they head to the other parks at night. We had noon reservations at Yak and Yetti, so we headed there. We were seated right away (first and only time this happened to us!) I got honey chicken and DF got the Mahi Mahi. Both were good, but nothing spectacular. For dessert, I got Mango pie, which was both delicious and totally weird all at once. DF had this wanton pineapple thing that he said was quite good. One thing to note is this was the only place where they wouldn’t let me get a mixed (fruity) drink because they didn’t know what were in the fruit juices they used and didn’t want to accidently contaminate me. Good they told me - scary they don’t know what they’re serving.

So after lunch we hopped on the bus back to the POP to get ready and meet my parents. We’re getting off the bus and my mom calls saying they’re about to leave the hotel but they hadn’t had lunch so they were going to stop (thanks for telling me this after we had lunch and after we left AK) So in lieu of being stuck in our cootie filled room for a few hours, I recommend to my mom to have lunch in DDD and we would meet them there. Genius. She asked me to bring some towels to sit on for the launch, so we headed up to the room. Where we were greeted by like 5 towel animals - and no pacifier 

So after looking at the towels in the room, I decided we’d stop at World of Disney on our way to meet my parents to buy a blanket to sit on. So we do - and only got a few crazy looks for buying a fleece blanket in 85 degree weather. And we headed to Fultons to meet my parents. They had the slowest waiter ever, and at 3:15 when we arrived they were just being served the (cold) appetizer they ordered (they arrived before 2) So once they were done, we decided to head to Goofy’s to blow our snack credits on some treats for the launch. As we’re checking out, my parents headed to the car. We finally got through the line and paid - worst system ever - and were 3/4 of the way to the car when my mom’s friend called.

The launch was cancelled. WHAT?!?!?!?! I was heart broken. I quickly checked CNN on my phone and confirmed. Words don’t describe how bummed I was. I’m sure I looked like someone had just told me the tooth fairy didn’t exist. But then we also had 8 snack credits and $10 worth of sugar we’d just bought. Boo. So we went back to World of Disney and returned the blanket (I didn’t want it mocking me - haha you didn’t get to see the shuttle and you spent $30 on me) and walked around for a while.

My mom is notorious for not knowing what she wants to do, and not listening to you when you give her 1000 suggestions. So we sat outside WOD for a really long time until she decided that taking a boat to check out POFQ wouldn’t be bad.

I took a funny picture with my phone, but it's being stupid and I can't retrieve it.

I had been struggling to pick a moderate resort for our room block and just sort of rock paper scissored myself into POFQ. I liked it because it was smaller, and location. So we walked around a bit and talked to the DVC person who was from the town where my dad grew up (insert demonic children again…) We then had to decide where/when to make dinner reservations. Seriously it’s like pulling teeth, without novocaine, or a dentist. Though, I learned that if I was able to spin anything to “well I’m looking at it for my wedding” then it was a lot easier to get her to go along with it. So we called to see if we could get ressies at Citricos - because she wanted to check out the GF. We got 9:10 reservations, so we headed back to DDD and to the GF. We watched Wishes from the beach and showed them where the WP was.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0181.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0194.jpg

After Wishes, we made our way up to Citricos. We got a nice table by the window - where our waiter unknowingly kicked us while we were down by telling us that we’d have a perfect view of the shuttle launch from our seats if it hadn’t been canceled.

I got the swordfish and my mom got the chicken - I can’t remember what my dad and DF got, but it was all very good. Then it was time for dessert and my dad and DF got the lots of chocolate - with tiara - (we found that hilarious) I got a lemon cheesecake with raspberry sauce. Both delicious. This was the day before DF birthday and 2 days before my birthday so they decorated our plates. (we still had to pay though) And we got to keep our menus - they said happy birthday, but we both left them at the restaurant.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0204.jpg

So then after getting lost and almost dying (what only 2 red lights were run and 1 person honked at us because we almost merged into them…) we made our way back to the POP with plans to meet at the WP at 12:45 the next day.

Ok, Seriously Joanna, you need to stop making me laugh so loud at work... your gonna get me in trouble! Your TR is flipping awesome btw!

That is no fun about the launch.... stupid nasa and it's scheduling

Your DF's "I have to wait in another line face" is priceless! I too have made that face while in WDW

Mango Pie, I couldn't agree more, delicious and weird all at once. It is super yummy, but at the same time it just tastes like mangos in pie form, which is weird... I know it shouldn't be, but somehow it makes an odd combination...

Your TR is wicked funny, I can't wait to hear about your PS!:goodvibes

Okay - I'll make the next entry really really boring just for you :lmao:

We were so bummed we even seriously talked about extending our trip a day so we could see it. Oh well, just means we'll have to go back :rotfl2:
The worst part is my mom was there to see it and she keeps rubbing my face in it - intentionally talking about it and bringing it up constantly. Isn't my mom the best?

Yeah, I must say I was leery, but the mango pie is a new favorite of mine!

Thursday - PS!

Since we were on the 4-3 deal, we had 7 day tickets, and since I couldn’t let those go to waste, we were there at rope-drop for DHS today. Plus it was DF’s birthday, and we needed to get our gift card. This took way too long and by the time we dashed to Toy Story Mania, the fast pass time was 11! So we grabbed a fast pass and hopped in line. It was 30 min, not too bad. Then we dashed to RR, and did the single rider thing 2 times cuz the real line was 70 min. Then we dashed back to TSM and dashed to the busses. We were starving so we took a bus to the Poly and had lunch at Captain Cook’s. It was decent. Then we walked to the WP and met my parents. (it was about this time that I realized I left my camera in the room, so I apologize for the lack of pictures – my dad took some, but not a lot)

There we met with our WC, Joe, and talked about the contract he had sent, and some of our concerns and ideas. Then we jetted off to Epcot to see the AAP. I must say from seeing pictures, I was convinced I’d see it - love it - have to have it. Not so much. It was pretty an all, but seemed dated and closed in. Well at least I was off that kick. When we went out the elevator we came through the main entrance of the American Adventure ride thingy, and my dad stopped me because a receipt fell out of my pocket - remember this it comes back.

Then we went to the Contemporary to the California Grill. We drove by BLT, and I’m so excited to stay there before the wedding! We saw the Napa and Sonoma Rooms, and the views were stunning. We decided we’d use the Sonoma Room for the pre-reception cocktails, and dinner in the Napa Room. I will admit I’m not *in love* with the carpet and existing pictures - so if anyone has any ideas -I’d love to hear them.

We didn't take any pictures of the rooms – I don't know why – but we did take a picture of this pretty centerpiece they had at the bar of the CG.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0206.jpg
(I'm useless I know)
From there we went to the Whitehall room which was set up for a reception to take a peek. Both my parents really liked that room, but I couldn’t get over that it was/is a ballroom. They also were sold on the patio - which I thought was crazy since we’d spent the first part of the PS arguing with my mom about the DP since she thought it would be too cold outside and didn’t want to rely on that. Hellooooooo?? The patio is outside!

Anyway, I wasn’t feeling the Whitehall room, so we stuck with the Napa/Sonoma combo - for now. Then we parted ways with Joe and ventured to the poly for a much needed lapu lapu. As mentioned this one was about 1/2 the size as the first one and about 1/2 as good. Disappointed in the bartender, we headed to the boardwalk to check out places for the rehearsal dinner.

Now this is one of those things that will be the death of me I can feel it.
I really want a Dessert Party. My mother does not. Well, actually my mom has no problem with the DP concept - she just wants a venue where we can have it indoors. Sorry doesn’t exist. She also thinks that we need to treat everyone to dinner before. My dad and I keep trying to tell her that the point of the DP is so we don’t have to buy everyone a full dinner, but they can all still meet. But she has her mind set, so we’re just going along.

So she wanted to look at places around the boardwalk/beach club area so we could just hop on a boat and go to the DP. So we looked at Flying Fish - too fancy. Spoodles - too much food. Big River Brewery - PERFECT. DF used to work at a micro-brewery, and the location they have for parties is right by the brewing equipment. So we’re going to do a really informal - sandwiches and such - dinner there and then take the friendship boats to EPCOT for the DP is France. So it’s very “us”

After that we went to back to the contemporary to get seats at the bar for Wishes since I knew we wouldn’t get seated in time with our 7:45 ADR. We got great seats until this woman came up to us and asked if we minded if she and her family stood in front of us and blocked our view. At first we thought she was kidding, but she was dead serious. We kindly kicked her butt out of our view and took these pictures.

So finally after Wishes, we were seated and had the WORST waitress. We were seated by 8:15 had water by 8:30 and were served our appetizer at 9. An hour - for sushi? The food was good - not great - but good. After Sushi - the dumb waitress talked me out of what I really wanted and into a roll that she claimed would be amazing - it was okay. DF and I shared a goat cheese ravioli - good- but too goat cheesy for the reception. (I LOVE goat cheese btw) I had the pasta dish for dinner, it was okay. DF had the ostrich and mom had the pork and dad had fish (can’t remember what kind) but everyone’s was better than mine. Then our dippy waitress asks if we want dessert. We all decline and get coffee. The table adjacent to ours receives a free piece of cake, a song and balloons for their birthday. I have DF’s birthday on the reservation, he's wearing his birthday button, and we’re both wearing the just engaged buttons Joe gave us, and I put on the reservation that we were planning on having our reception there. I made some snotty comment about how we must not look like we’re big tippers or something - and then 5 minutes later we both got free desserts. I felt a bit guilty like I might have been overheard - cuz I wasn’t trying to get a free dessert. But I was just genuinely disappointed in the whole experience. I wanted to feel special and be re-assured that I was making the right choice in venue, and I just wasn’t, so I’m still second-guessing my choice.

Everyone else enjoyed themselves, but I was just disappointed in everything and now I’m totally bummed

Then we headed back to the hotel - getting less lost and breaking fewer traffic laws this time around.

I should mention at this point, on the way back to the room, I broke down and bought the ridiculously over priced cold medicine since I was pretty sure my head was going to explode if I didn't.

And we were greeted by a pacifier-free bed, and fell asleep.

That is just plain weird! I'm sorry it spent the night mocking you from the other side of the room:rotfl2:.

Your site Visit sounds like it went well, at least you narrowed stuff down right? At least there is still time before the wedding to figure it all out. BTW have you decided when you will be in WDW next year for your wedding/honeymoon?

I know right. DF kept saying well at least it's not a condom or something much groser - I had a college roomate that was into kinky stuff and it would occasionally end up on my bed - EWW..... I went through quite a lot of sheets that year - no amount of bleach! But anyway - It could have been groser- it was just plain weird!

Yes, we narrowed stuff down and made a ton of decisions. I wasn't as in love with the CG as I wanted to be, but we're still choosing it for the reception. I'm really glad we did all this now, because July would be way too late since I was not sure at all what I wanted to do.

I think we're going to do the 21st-31st - so we'll probally just miss you  - again. BOO.

We have BLT booked from the 21st - the 25th, and we're still deciding where to stay from the 25-31st. DF really liked the Poly, so most likely there.

Don't you love how I just wrote like 6 paragraphs to answer 3 simple questions. Wow I'm really direct!:rotfl2:

Ahhh we do miss each other again! We are doing 2/3 - 2/13 as of now... I want to try and squeeze a few more days out in WDW though... but I am not sure budget will allow lol! We are doing the WL for 3 nights then switching to the Yacht Club for the next week. It was a tough choice though since there are so many cool places to stay.

BLT is one I want to stay at in the (hopefully very near) future. The Poly is so nice too, and just think you could have a lapu lapu every night and a dole whip from the food court every afternoon, can't go wrong there!

Your binky story is still weirding me out a bit... I am not sure why but it is just the bizarre-ness of it that is creepy... but at least it was just a binky, I don't even want to imagine anything else!

Friday - Yeah that’s right - it’s my Birthday!

I woke up this morning the sickest I’d been on the trip, but determined not to let my pesky cold ruin our last day in the parks I made DF roll out of bed, get his coffee and we were off to EPCOT one last time.

We weren’t really in a hurry so we just sort of moseyed our way around EPCOT. We did notice how much more crowded it was and how many groups of teens there were. It was another 85 degree day so we decided to hit up the cool station, since we’d never been and DF loves those kinds of things. Then we went straight to the Land to get fast passes for Soarin’ and grab a bite at Sunshine Seasons. Then since we were there, we road on Imagination! Since I used to love that ride before they ruined it, and I’m a die-hard figment fan. Then we checked out the shop and I was so disappointed in their figment merchandise that for the first time in 26 years, I left without purchasing a figment souvenir. Then I still wasn’t feeling good, and desperately needed a nap, so we went into Honey I Shrunk the Audience so I could close my eyes. Wow is that dated and blurry! So I took a nap and DF watched the show. Then we decided we needed ice cream. So we walked over to the Beach Club for a No Way Jose. We sat down at the counter and were talking with our waitress. Then the lights start flashing and I tell DF to look because someone probally ordered a kitchen sink. No - our waitress came out with our sundae and a balloon and had the whole restaurant singing to me! I turned bright red, it was cute! She apologized for embarrassing me and I told her that it surprised me because I wasn’t expecting it at all, and thanked her.

Feeling refreshed, we headed to mission Space and then Test Track. It was almost time for our 4:00 ADR at Le Cellier, so we headed out to Canadia. I was so regretting the deliciousness of the No Way Jose, because I so was not hungry at that early hour, but whatca gonna do? I called 90 days ahead like a good girl and that was what I could get. We both did the Chef’s selection menu - I have no idea why since I was so full! I got the chicken sausage appetizer and DF got the cheese soup. We both liked mine better. I know there are serious devotees to that cheese soup, but coming from the land of beer and cheese - we’ve had better. For dinner DF had the slab o’ meat - can’t remember what it was and I had the pasta - again it was okay. For dessert I had the chocolate moose and DF was insanely jealous.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0215.jpg

He had key lime pie I think. I also got a card signed by everyone at Le Cellier. It was a cute touch. So now feeling like I could be rolled around the world, we set off to kill more time before illuminations.

Since DF was so jealous of my dessert, I tried to cheer him up by giving him a Joanna moose.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0216.jpg
:rotfl:

When we got to France, imagine my dismay when again there was a large group on the lower island that was using the arm as a kitchen. GRRRR. So we peeked around the ropes and talked to the CM a bit before moving on.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0217.jpg

So we were leisurely wandering and went into American Adventure and the CM runs up to me and says “Where are you from Joanna?” I answer “Milwaukee?” he says “Oh good, you’re the Joanna we’ve been looking for” I’m really confused now, thinking I dropped something important when we were there the day before, so he leads me over to a table to wait, and then hands me a phone. It was Goofy singing Happy Birthday. It was cute. I felt kinda dumb cuz I didn’t see it coming, but I’ll blame my cold. So then we wander into Norway and finally ride Maelstrom. Eventually we’re not so stuffed that we’d toss our cookies so we head to Test Track one more time, but it was down, and I wasn’t so digested that I was ready to ride Mission Space, so we headed back the WS and decided to scope out UK lower - since our WC kept telling us how much better that location was than the French arm.

The view was great, but we were bombarded by ash and my eyes were burning by the end of the show. No thanks - I’ll stick with France.

So we hung out for a while letting the crowd thin out - it was EMH at EPOCT and then headed out to Test Track one last time but it was still down, so we headed to DDD. Now I didn’t know that you can’t take a bus directly from EPCOT to DDD, you have to go to a resort. The resort bus that happened to be closest - there - and empty was Old Key West - so we hopped on. Well so did about 4 groups of teenagers. Man do I apologize to anyone I met when I was like 17. Wow were they annoying. So the bus dropped us off a OKW, and we were waiting for a bus until I just couldn’t take it anymore. I was thinking to myself, I wonder where we are in relation to the boat stop - and what do you know - a boat pulls up across from us. So we walk over there and get on the boat - the teens yammering still waiting for their bus. We wait awhile, and the driver finally goes “well I guess you have a private cruise - happy birthday” It was so nice and quite. DF kept thanking me for thinking of the boat vs the bus.

When we arrived Downtown we went to World of Disney to blow our B-day gift cards. We bought our bride and groom ears - cuz the were essentially free, and got my mom a hat. We found a Mickey gnome statue that we bought as a thank you to DF’s grandma for supporting us, cuz she loves Disney and collects gnomes. Then we bought an extra carry-on to tote the stuff we bought and a few trinkets for my friends’ daughters and we still had $4 left on the card! It was almost midnight so we headed back and finished packing.

Last Day - Boo!

I originally had reservations at the Captain’s Grille for breakfast today, but like 2 weeks before we left, our flight was moved up 2 hrs to 12:40. Since I figured the ME would pick us up around 9:30, I canceled it cuz I didn’t think we’d have time. Let me just say - I’m a genius.

After our morning ritual of pouring coffee down DF’s throat to make him human, I had him call the number to pay for our bag. Well after being on hold for 40 minutes, he accidently hangs up on the woman as she’s giving him the confirmation #. So then I had to call back, and wait another 40 minutes to get the bloody number. Let me just say, for a company of Disney’s size, it seemed like they had 2 people working that airline number. It was really slow and frustrating. So we finally made it to Classic Hall around 8:00. Well all the parks opened at 9 that day, so it was a mad house of really rude people pushing and shoving to get their breakfasts. We had one CS left and I was so frustrated that I told DF just to get whatever he wanted, cuz I didn’t want to be there.

So I lugged our bag into the giant line to get checked into the ME. Well the woman behind me was being super rude, declaring that she needed to get to the parks. So a CM comes to the back of the line to help her. Seriously?? There were like 3 people ahead of me, and you’re going to skip all of us to help this obnoxious woman? So she’s whining and the CM is explaining that everyone needs to be present, and show ID. She arguing with him that her family has the same last name as her, so it should be okay. Eventually even the CM looked like he was going to strangle her. Ha! That’s what you get for skipping all of us friendly people. So, I eventually get checked in and DF has since come out with a really gross looking (and tasting) breakfast pizza. And we wait for the ME. I was so grumpy and pissed off at people that I was actually glad we were going home!

I think the Pop was fine for what we used it for - a place to sleep for 6 hrs. a day. But honestly I won’t be rushing back to stay there any time soon. We both agreed, that if we were just coming for a park-centric quick visit, and didn’t want to spend the $, we’d stay again, but we even had trepidations about recommending it to our guests. I just wasn’t impressed at all.

So on the ride to the airport I was quizzing DF about where he wanted to stay after the wedding, since we’re staying with my parents at BLT before the wedding and CR the night of. I left the choice up to him, since I have stayed at most of the resorts before, and this trip was his first time on property. I figured he’d pick the Boardwalk or Beach club, and I’d researched and priced out a bunch of different rooms and had the prices ready to spit out at him… so imagine my surprise when he said …”Well, I really liked the Poly”

The Poly?? That wasn’t even on my radar screen! I had dismissed it when I read there were almost no king beds. I told DF and he was like “So? We sleep on a Queen at home” So anyway, this left me silent the rest of the bus ride. I didn’t have a billion facts and prices memorized for the Poly so I felt I had nothing to say. DF was like “well if you don’t want to stay at the Poly..” I told him I had nothing against it I just didn’t research it because I thought we’d stay in the Epcot area.

Anyway… we got to the airport and killed some time in Del Sol. DF hasn’t been to the Caribbean with me, so he was unfamiliar with the novelty and awesomeness that is Del Sol. Then we headed to the gate, and were able to get onto an earlier flight and upgraded to 1st class! Score!

They were concerned our luggage wouldn’t make it with us, but we live like 3 minutes from the airport so I didn’t care. The flight was boring and uneventful. Then we landed, and our luggage made it on the earlier flight with us, so we headed home (where I immediately went online to research the Poly - I’m not obsessive at all!)

Sorry for the lack of pictures on the last day. I was so crabby and sick by that point I didn’t care.

Okay... now that the TR is over, I can update some of my plans.

When my mom and I were in the Caribbean a couple of weeks ago, we did some serious jewel shopping. I won the trip, so she treated me to a few bobbles. And since this was the first time we'd been to the Caribbean without my sister or dad complaining every time we went into a store... we were successful! Well, the big thing in the Caribbean right now is blue diamonds. This got me on the idea to do the "old, new, borrowed, blue" with jewelery.

My mom liked the idea, so we started brainstorming...

Old...
this was easy. The very first piece of jewelery Chris ever bought me was diamond earrings. They're small, and actually I hardly wear them because they slip through my first holes, so I'm always worried about loosing them. But I have 5 holes in each ear, so I figured I could wear them in the 2nd holes, and they'd be a sentimental old.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/JDPWeddingstuff001.jpg
sorry the picture is so blurry, I really need a new camera.

New...
The first night of our cruise, the onboard shops had a costume jewelery sale, so we checked it out, and found this.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/JDPWeddingstuff005.jpg
It matches my dress quite well... My dad took pictures of when I tried them on together, he claims he'll send them tonight... Will post when I have them.

Borrowed...
Though I haven't figured out exactly which one yet, I will be borrowing a ring or a bracelet from my mom to wear.

Blue...
So, this idea was born as an excuse for us to buy blue diamonds. (Somehow, my mom decided that was her excuse too :confused3 ) So she bought me this:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/JDPWeddingstuff006.jpg
Crappy picture, I know. It is 3 small diamond flowers, the side two are blue diamonds, the middle is white diamonds. It's a cute pinky ring.
Sort of like this:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/ringlookalike.jpg
but the whole flowers are blue and white... if that makes sense...

Okay.... so I have this obsession with glow cubes. It's one of those fun things that I always get when I'm in WDW. Well this year, the glow drink - the Magical Star - was FABULOUS. It was pinapple, passion fruit and rum I believe MMMMMM. Anyway, my mom and I started talking and we decided it woud be fun to have glow cubes at the wedding. I found a site that personalizes them, and they're pretty reasonable!

The downside is that I'd have to order 250 of them. To get the personalization. So we were thinking of decorating with them as well. I found these votives in the clearance bin at Michaels - $.50 each.
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/JDPWeddingstuff010.jpg
It's sort of a bad picture, so in case you can't tell... they say Celebrate, Believe, Friends, Inspire and are metalic on the outside and different colored on the inside.

So then I was playing with my glow cubes and this is how they look with the glow cube..
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/JDPWeddingstuff011.jpg

I wasn't sure I liked it, so I tried it with a battery powered tea light I bought at holloween
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/JDPWeddingstuff013.jpg
The tealight fit in there better, but the light wasn't as bright and I'm not sure I liked that either.

So I'm not sure I'll use the votives, but I got 40 of them for $20, so I'm not too concerned.

OK, just got all caught up on your TR, I can totally relate to how you felt about your DF saying he wanted the POLY! Dave has said things like that to me before that just catch me so off guard I don't know how to react lol! Wackiness!
Sorry to hear you were feeling lousy the last day... thats strange about ME taking so long to do airline check-in. POP left our boarding passes on our door the morning we left and all we had to do was check our luggage which only took a minute... and they stored our carry-on's while we went to DTD that day too. POP is good for a quick visit but after seeing the Boardwalk area I am totally sure we will stay there for our Disneymoon. Although, DF did say he wants to stay at the POLY soon... so who knows maybe we are in the same boat lol!

It's still really really big on me, but we're meeting with the seamstress in September so hopefully it'll eventually fit me.

So honest opinions - does it look cheap? I can't get the price tag out of my head! I'm also having buyers remorse, because I really really liked that other dress I tried on (that was over 11x more expensive than what I paid for mine...) I mean I like this one fine - I'm just a spaz!

It's a tough choice though. I honestly don't think that the other dresses will even cross your mind on your wedding day. And honestly, I think that one is very nice. My vote is to keep that one. Thanks. I do like the dress. I think it's a combination of knowing the price and that it's too big right now, that are making me feel uneasy. Plus even though I fell in love with that other dress, even before we found the price, I was concerned that the other dress was to "Belle" like and I'm not going for the Disney princess look....

Okay – So we got our engagement pictures back!!!

Essentially, photography wasn't/isn't that important to me. I knew I wanted an outside photographer because I wanted the digital rights to my pictures and a few decent pictures to use. Beyond that, no clue.

Now I will admit that DF and I are not photogenic people. We've been together for like 8 years and taken 4 total good pictures together. So I was not expecting amazing photos – While I was picking out a photographer, I kept showing my mom pictures and we'd laugh – well pretty people, pretty pictures. Basically my goal was to get one or two pictures that I thought were decent and to check out our photographer. I am extremely picky and was expecting (and would have been totally happy with) 3-5 pictures I liked.

Well, I came up with a good 20 or so that I thought were decent! I mean, we're still not pretty people or even remotely photogenic, but I think Randy is a miracle worker or something, because we did actually get some decent photos.

Here are some of my favorites

Your engagement pictures look great!! I understand completely how you felt...I knew we werent the most "pretty" couple, and I was soo happy when I got my pictures back yesterday!!!!
Thanks! Isn't it a great feeling to actually look at a picture and be like "wow, we aren't both mid-blink or sneezing or look like we're about to fall over" (okay, maybe that's just me) But glad to hear that your pics turned out great too!

Oh I love them!! You guys look awesome!!! I want to see more, make photobucket stop hating you asap!

Thanks! Working on the photobucket issue. Now my CD drive is fighting with me - I just can't win! Hopefully more tonight.

Thanks! The first one is my personal favorite. probally cuz I'm all blurry :rotfl: Hopefully more to come tonight!

Thanks! Yes, we took them at the GF. I didn't really know/care where we took them, so that's where Randy suggested. I really never knew there were so many different backdrops there.

Okay. Off to fight with the technology. I have 3 computers and home and 2 at work, but all of them either have a broken CD drive or an old browser that photobucket won't work in, and I can't seem to get the pictures off the CD on a computer that I can also get photobucket to work. So frustrating! :headache: Hopefully I can post some more tonight.

that first photo is so great- i love the style so much, you look lovely! You have a really nice smile :)

You're so sweet! :goodvibes Thanks.

I made an appointment with the seamstress for September, so I've vowed not to put the dress on again until then. It's just way too big and makes me feel frumpy. I'm sure you're right, once it fits I'll feel better about it - I do really like the dress.

Okay, wow... it's been a LONG time since I've poked my head in here. Sorry sis. BUT looks like you've been busy.

1. Lapu lapu!?! An entire pineapple filled with 151!?!? GLORIOUS!!! I must have one... or two ^_^' the BF wouldn't like it, but he doesn't have to try any.

2. When we're in Disney for your site visit / planning session thing, the BF and I are most definitely going to drink around the world in epcot. And I would TOTALLY wait 45 minutes to go on Maelstrom. The accuracy of Norwegian history in that ride is well worth the wait.

3. Your dress looks awesome and the jewelry looks great with it. My dress still looks like poo. >_< ... and I'm not sure that I'll fit into it anymore. 8 months in Amish country with all their mayonaise and fresh bread did not do wonders for my figure. .. I'm all bloaty ;_; *sniff* *pokes at stomach*

4. Love the pics. What was it, "You look good in sepia tones." ^_^ But in that second picture (you with your arm around Chris... in a mildly threatening manner might I add... you TOTALLY look like mom!!!!!!!! lolz

5. Did you know that mom got to see the space shuttle launch?

Bwahaha! ^_^

Loved reading about your travels. When we're in Disney for your planning session you can write about all of that and I'll actually write about the cool stuff while gallivanting through the parks (most likely epcot) with the BF and Dad. ^_~*

1. The lapu lapu is quite delicious - especially when it's as big as your head! I want one now...
2. Are you sure you haven't already been drinking a pineapple filled with 151?
3. Did we tell you we bought you a necklace? I'll have to post a picuture, it looks great. The dress is the correct size, but we'll see if you want a new one, I don't really care...
4. AHHHHHHHH don't say that! There's actually one where the sun is in Chris's eyes and he looks like he's in pain because I'm strangling him :rotfl: I'll have to post that if I can get photobucket to cooperate! I'm still using your old hoopty of a computer - it's not good.
5. Really she did? She hasn't told me :lmao:

Also, dad says there's no way he's going to a park, so you and the BF will be on your own.

In other news....

We made our reservations for our PS (Thanks Carye!!) and I booked Patricia LaJuene for my hair and makeup trial while we're down there.

I wish we were doing more Disney when we are down there, but we're going on a RCCL cruise for my grandma's 80's birthday, with waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many relatives. So, only 1 day at Disney and no parks for me

Other than that, I'm kinda at a planning stand-still. I've gotten the things that I needed and can't make decisions on the rest of the stuff until we get closer.

Sorry I've been MIA. My laptop is on it's final leg, so I'm shopping around and I have to use my work laptop at home, which has weird security on it, so I can't resize things in photobucket. Annoying. I'm hopefully going to get a new computer soon (tax refund - where are you??)

So I'm a little less than 8 months out and I feel like I have nothing to do. Is this normal? What should I be doing? I've done all the stuff on my checklists....

Most people in my family do a video slide show during the reception of the bride and groom growing up and then together. It's pretty common around here, but I know these things can be regional, so I just wanted to put a back story to the post.

So, my mom and I were discussing if we should do one, and I thought I read someone's (Lindsey22?? Can't remember) PJ that they were doing this and going to show it on the bus. I thought this was a good idea, and my mom and I decided our summer project would be compiling these photos in iphoto and making a slideshow/dvd.

Well our local public TV station had their annual tv auction (I don't know if other stations do this but basically it's like a silent auction, but on TV, they show a table of 8-10 items, and then you have 15 minutes to bid on that table by phone. It goes for a little over a week, and all proceeds support public television.) And over the years we've gotten some great items/deals from this auction. So last night, I was at my parent's house and on of the items was a video biography where the company interviews you, scans your pictures and complies them into a 20-30 minute DVD. At the 3 minute warning, this $1,500 item was going for $120, so my mom told me to bid on it, because it would save us tons of time. (and probally a few fights as well)

So, we won, and got an awsome deal on this service. But now I'm thinking because we're acutally spending money on this, and it (hopefully) will look really nice, that I might want to play it during the reception.

However, I can't envision how to do this in the Napa Room... So maybe I should keep it on the bus? But will people watch it? Is it a waste then? I'm torn and having buyer's remorse (at least the $ went to a good cause) I'm also worried that with a small group, it'll seem weird.

So basically I'm the most indecicive person on the planet.

To be fair, my check list goes...
think about doing some wedding stuff (check)
open bottle of wine (check)
pour glass of wine (check)
drink glass of wine (check)
go on dis (check)
refill glass of wine (check)
remember I forgot to do wedding stuff (check)
refill glass of wine (check)
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

In all seriousness, I'm following the checklist from Carrie's book just to make sure I don't forget something totally obvious, like to buy shoes or something, cuz I'd so do that - spend 4 hrs obsessing about what shade of purple to use, and then forget that I need shoes or underware or something.

Yeah, we ran into a simmilar problem we wanted to do it at the rehersal too, but we're using the Big River Brewing company, and there's not really a private room, we're just off to the side by the bar, so that would be awkward. My worry is that I believe the wall in the Napa Room that would be most convienent to show it on, is curved... however, my guests might be drunk by that point, so they'd see the curve anyway. :rotfl2:

(wow... this post really made me sound like a lush!)

I really feel like I'm slacking - like I should be doing something, but I can't figure out what it is.

So when we were in Disney in March, I found this Swarovski set at Arribas Brothers that I loved. But the necklace was $350 and the tiara was $575... so I just moved along, and found the necklace that I posted earlier. Then a couple weeks ago, I was visiting my parents and went to the TJ Maxx by them, and found the EXACT necklace for $60!

I'm not sure if it'll go with the dress, or if I'll have Monica wear it instead, or if I'll wear it for the Welcome Dinner, but I couldn't pass it up....

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Photo4.jpg

it's really not a good picture, but I couldn't find it online... it's got white and clear marquis crystals and pearls in a flower-y, leaf-y pattern.

Now if I could find the tiara... I'd be happy - cuz that's the piece I really wanted.

So in lieu of a miracle, i've been looking for a headpiece that will match the necklace and earrings I have. So far, I found this one:

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/1921.jpg

I think it'll go well with the dress and everything, and won't detract from the veil.

From the same company, I also found this bouquet....

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/1002.jpg

I don't like silk flowers, so I was going to go with real, but I was worried that they'd make me allergy-y. So i was thinking this might be a fun alternative.
Or will it be too "bare" against the dress? And will it look weird if everyone else has flowers? Is it trying too hard to be funky? What do you think?

hmm.... 2 might work. I wish it came in colors. I was worried it would sort of just blend into the dress and look weird. Not the fun shinyness it's supposed to be. But if it was purple or green or something, that would be perfect.

I'm so excited to have a computer that works. It's really helps with #6 on my checklist. :rotfl:

Okay, so I know I have a lot of time before I need to send invitations, but I'm obsessing about them. :scared1:

So when we first got engaged, my mom and I found these print-your-own invitations at JoAnn that she really liked.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Photo11.jpg

That picture isn't the best, but it's basically a cute white velum "pocket" with sparkles and a larger plain white invitation.

They're okay, and at first I didn't really care about the invitations, so I really couldn't have cared less.

But then I got to thinking... I'm thinking that I want something nicer.

So yesterday, I stopped at this paper store that one of my co-workers recommended, and got a bunch of stuff of clearance. When I came home I started mocking up an invitation.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Photo14.jpg

Again, not the best picture, but it's a gold pocket envelope with a dark and light purple invitation with purple swirl vellum over it and 3 "cards" for information.

Granted I didn't measure or use a paper cutter or anything accurate, so it'll take a lot longer for real, but I like this much better.

What's the problem? My mom has dug in her heals about the first ones. Now I know it's my wedding, but my problem is she knows how to get her way with me via logic. Why would I want to spend all that time, money and effort on something that is basically garbage? In a year, people will remember a bunch of aspects of the wedding - the invitations won't be one of them.

However, I look at it as the "window" into the wedding, and all the weddings I've been to with cheap/cheezy looking invitations, have been cheap and cheezy.

Maybe I'm being a snot. Am I over thinking this? Is it worth making your own invitations? Are they just going to look homemade and cheezy anyway? What would you do?

Why am I obsessing about this? UGH

Thanks. My problem is that she keeps talking logic to me. She never tells me I can't do something, she makes carefully planned logical arguments that make me rethink what I want.

She informed me that my purple invitations look like marketing materials. And then proceeded to talk me out of them, so I'm back at square one.

GRRR....

Oh well, I have plenty of time.

Okay... my sister and I were going over some ceremony music last night. We're looking into having a mix of classical and not. We were discussing how to incorporate some personal "classics" sort of like musical inside jokes that would sound pretty, but have added meaning to us.

When Chris and I first met, we were in a "media" class, and our for our final project, we had to create an interactive website game. At the time, I worked at a Children's Museum (and I'm just a huge geek), so I created a Sesame Street trivia website. And I incorporated a bunch of Sesame Street Music into it. When Chris went away for collage, I made him a "Joanna" CD - and included my favorite Sesame Street song - "I don't want to live on the moon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIq8jLj5TzU)"

Well my sister and I were getting silly and joking that I should use this song in the wedding. Then she found a piano version of the song here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1OqyNSGnuk) and you know what - It's really pretty! We were thinking it might be a nice song for me to walk down the aisle to. I'm guessing most people won't know what the song is....

What do you think? Hokey? Weird? Cute? I need opinions!

I completely forgot about that song. Ernie is definitely my favorite Sesame Street character - so I think this would be a great song to walk down the aisle. It's really beautiful on the piano.

:goodvibes Ernie does rock doesn't he....

We also concideder "La La La La Lemons" and "The Fraggle Rock Theme" along with "MMMMBOP" and "The Final Countdown" , so when you consider the other options, an Ernie song is pretty tame :rotfl:

Okay, so I've been crazy at work lately, plus I've been sick, so I haven't been around much.

We leave for our planning session in about a month, and then off to my grandma's birthday/family reunion cruise - on which my aunt is throwing me my first shower.

Does anyone else have this *problem* where everyone wants to throw you a shower. I seriously have 4 planned as of now, and have said "no" to 2 people. It's getting out of hand! (I know... that's a stupid problem to have... but it's just weird)

So here's the plan for the P.S.

Wednesday - Arrival - Check in at SSR and 8:30 dinner reservations at Turf Club with my parents. DSis and her BF arrive later.

Thursday - Breakfast 7:10 at GF Cafe, and PS at 9am; (We don't get a menu tasting - BOO) 2:00 Hair/Makeup trial; 8:00 Dinner Raglan Road

Friday - Check-out and go to Port Canaveral. Board ship.

Saturday - Grandma's Birthday Celebration & Nassau

Sunday - CocoCay & Shower

Monday - Home

I'm bummed that we don't get any time in the parks, but oh well. Whatcha going to do?

I think I'm pretty well set for the P.S. I have my binder, and pictures and paint chips, and stuff. But I still have NO idea what to do with my hair.

I have shoulder length, thin, scraggly, hair. I look best with it down, but when it's down, it tends to separate dramatically into clumps:

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/e%20picts/JC000201-24-2010-1.jpg

Which is not attractive as you can see.

But my face is so pudgy, that I look bad with it all up.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/WDW%203-09/100_0182-1.jpg

I'm so undecided. I think I'd be okay with an updo if I had full hair, but it's so limp and thin, that it just looks pathetic. I didn't want to wear a veil... but we bought one anyway, because I was bamboozled in my sticker-shock daze. And. it was more expensive than my dress, so I feel like I should wear it.

I bought this clip at TJ MAXX, and I think I might use it...

I wish I had normal hair!

In other sort-of-not-really-wedding-related news... I'm going out to PA to visit my sister next weekend. :cool1::cool1: I'm excited, I haven't seen her since December! We're hoping to work on the invitation debacle and come up with a workable solution for everyone.

woohoo for Planning Session!

Are you going on the Monarch of the Seas? I sailed in January on the Monarch. I just had to return a book to the library about the history of the cruise industry that I haven't finished reading yet. It's a good book all about Royal Caribbean and Carnival and Norwegian. Good stuff. Makes me want to go on another cruise. I think Jeff and I want to see if we can go on the Mediterranean cruise with Disney next summer as a belated honeymoon :lovestruc

I hope you get some hair inspiration at your trial. I'm sure you'll figure something out :thumbsup2

Yes, we're on the Monarch. I haven't been on the Monarch since its been sailing out of FL. I'm sort of excited, because I heard they did a referb when they took her out of LA. How was your trip in January?

Ohh, I think I've heard of that book. I'm reading "Behind the Crown and Anchor" right now all about Royal Caribbean. It's really interesting.

I have a serious cruise addiction. (The Monarch will be #4 for 2009) We're looking at a Med Cruise for a belated honeymoon as well - though we'll probably stick to Royal, since I'm a diamond member, and can get discounts... But I'd LOVE to do Disney.. We'll see.

I'm trying not to stress too much about my hair - yet... I'm sure that we'll come up with something.

Keep in mind dear, this is YOUR wedding! Never forget that! It must be all of us Disbrides' mantras! :rotfl:

Personally, I think it would be worth the effort to make your own if you will be happier with them. I'm considering making my own too, as I feel the same way you do about the invitation. So if you're overthinking it, then I am too! ;)

Hooray for your PS trip coming up! Oh, and last but not least - have you considered having your hair half up half down? Or what about getting extensions? My hair is not the most agreeable either. I've got a fair amount but it's all very fine textured and it lacks the volume most girls are fortunate enough to have. So I'm going to get either extensions or have my hairstylist put clip in extensions to help give my poor hair a boost. Just an idea!

Yay for going on a cruise while you're down here! I haven't been on the Monarch yet, I did the Sovereign a few times before they sold it. You should try a Disney cruise. Or even Princess!!!

I keep telling myself it's "my wedding" but sometimes, I'm just like "is this item really worth the energy fighting this?" Expecially invitations, because they just end up as garbage anyway.... But my fabulous sister came up with a solution to the invitation drama, that melds the invite I like and the one my mom likes nicely, so I'm hoping that the invitation debate is ovah!

I'm getting excited - less than 2 weeks till the PS!

I've done hair extensions before, and I was concidering them, but I'm not sure I want to spend the $ on them if I can just use my real hair. You know what I mean? And if I were to do it, I'd probally get them sewn in instead of clips, becuase those always shift on my head. Ugh.... Why is it so tough being a girl! :headache:

:rotfl: See... I'd love super thick frizzy hair. I think we all just want what we don't have hair wise!

I'm doubly excited about the cruise, (and sorry but I'm totally praying you have crappy weather this weekend) because if the shuttle doesn't launch this weekend, it will launch on the 27th - the day we're back!!

I would love to do a Disney or Princess cruise! The problem is Royal Caribbean and Celebrity keep sending me awesome deals becuase of my "diamond" staus... They keep reeling me back in every time I concider someone else :rotfl:

We're definately doing a cruise for our "honeymoon" which will actually be more like our first anniversary trip... so we'll see what happens :cutie:

So, I'm kind of in the wedding planning doldrums.... I feel like there's not a lot to do... So I just have a few mini-updates

I have my binder all set for the PS. And my posse will be in tow.

I'm getting worried, becuase I haven't heard back about my hair and makeup trial. So I hope I get to have one...

One of my friends who is much craftier than I offered to help me make a crystal bouquet. I found some instructions online, and it looks pretty straight forward. So we'll see how that goes. We have a plan to get together a few weekends in August to make it. If it doesn't work, then I'll use a flower bouquet. So I plan on discussing a flower bouquet at my PS as a precaution.

We met with our priest yesterday, and decided that we were going to do the official church wedding on Monday, January 18. We'll just have our wittnesses there, and treat it like a "paperwork" thing. Then the actual ceremony in Disney on the 23rd.

I do feel like I should be doing more. But I just don't know what!

Ohh... and we received our first gifts from my aunts for the upcoming shower. It feels way official now! :yay:

I realized I never replied to you on how I liked the Monarch. We had a good time. Half the girls I was with had never cruised before and they had a blast. I however kept constantly comparing it to Disney and it sooo didn't meet my standards! Dinner was horrible, every night. Our servers couldn't care less about us it seamed. The food was eh, and I just couldn't get over the fact that I had to pay to have a soda if I wanted it.
However our stateroom host was really awesome and the rooms were better than I remember the Sovereign being. One of our rooms showers went crazy though which was not cool.
Really I just need to get on one of RCCL's big ships because the two little ones have not lived up to my Disney standards at all.

Oh and with the way the weather is here now, I really don't think they are launching tomorrow, so chances are good it is scrubbed :thumbsup2

Thanks for the review. The bigger ships are much nicer, we were on the Freedom last summer, and it's great, but then again I haven't ever tried Disney. The little ships are really lacking in everything in my opinion.

Paying for soda is kind of annoying, but then again I usually just drink alcohol on vacation anyway :rotfl:

So I've been thinking about favors....

I'm not a big fan of favors in general, but know that with our guest list, I need to have them. So I've been in search of a favor that really represents "us"

We're both big chocolate fans, and we used to live next door to a chocolate shop, so this seemed like a natural choice.

So I came up with this idea of a box with 5 chocolates: 1 that represents my family, 1 that represents Chris's family, 1 that represents me, 1 that represents him, and one that represents both of us.

My Family: a tradition in my family is Red Velvet Cake, my grandma's is legendary. and there's a bakery by my work that makes red cake bites - basically truffle sized bites of cake dipped in chocolate - Awesome

DF's Family: DF's grandpa always makes Black Forrest cake at every holiday, so the same bakery makes a similar cake bite with Black Forrest.

Me: My parents now live in a resort town called Kolher, and they have their own chocolate company, and I love traveling to the Caribbean like 2-5 times year, so this will be a Kohler chocolate with passion fruit filling.

Chris: Chris is an adventurous eater, and a few years ago discovered Voges chocolates, and they make exoctic truffles with things like wasabi, olives, bacon, and more, so we'd do something like that.

Us: This would be one of our favorites from the chocolate shop we used to live by, a mango chipolte truffle.

So these would be together in a box, with little explanations of each chocolate, any why they're important to us.

Now I have 3 concerns: 1) Is this going to be too much of a PITA? Too complicated to put together at the last minute. 2) is it crazy to travel with so much fussy chocolate? Since it will be freezing here (WI in January = COLD) and warmer in FL, the temperature change + the pressure change on the plane could be bad. 3) We love these kind of haut chocolates... will they be wasted on our less-adventurous guests? What would you do if you received these as a favor? Try or toss?

The chocolate favors sound really interesting, but just make sure they won't be too much work. Is there any way you could have the packaging and explanations done way in advance so that all you would have to do is put the chocolates in? Maybe you could buy them, pack them in some sort of foam cooler to keep them fresh and ship them down so they would be there when you get there and you wouldn't have to worry about the plane, just buy a few extras in case some don't make the trip so well. You might also want to consider doing less different ones, maybe just do the 3 for you and DF...remember it is all about you ;) Just trying to help

Well, I'm back. Before I start my TR, let me just say that I was really diligent about taking pictures.... then I gave my camera to my sister's DBF and I'm not sure what happened, but all my pictures are now gone. I know he didn't do anything on purpose, and I will be purchasing a new camera soon... So I apologize for the lack of photos. I tried I really did.

Day 1

Our apartment is like 3 minutes away from the airport, so my parents picked us up at 2:30 for a 3:30 flight and we made our way to the airport, and had an uneventful flight. Our seats were next to the engine, and it was so loud my ipod cranked up all the way couldn't even help, but other than that... It was fine. We touched down at 7:10

We made it to the ME desk - I had rented points, and teh ME packet never came, so I was a bit worried, but this was no problem at all. There was no line and the CM was quite helpful. We explained that DS and her DBF were coming later, and we waited about 3 minutes and were loaded onto the SSR bus with one other family. We pulled into SSR and were checking in by 8:15. I couldn't believe how fast that went. I'm thinking that a Wednesday night check-in is the way to go!! We were assigned to the Carousel building, which is right at the entrance (i.e. REALLY far from the main building) So we decide to drop our bags off at bell services and grab dinner at the Turf Club. I quickly order my magical star, and DF ordered his Antioxident cocktail, and we were home!

(sorry - I did have pictures.... I promise!)

I ordered the tuna, DF had the Spicy Salmon salad and my parents both had Crab Cakes. The meal was quite good. I'm not sure I would go out of my way to go to the Turf Club if we weren't staying there, but it was good.

We stopped at Artist's Palette to pick up some frozen pizza for DS and her DBF, and some wine, and ended up deciding to cancel our ADRs at GFC the next morning, and got eggs, pancakes and bacon instead. This ended up being a genius idea because we would not have been awake to make our 7:10 ADRs.

We pulled out our "welcome packet" to see where our room was, and realized that the CM didn't write down our room number. So I went back to her, and got our room number. We headed to bell services - and it started to POUR. Sheets of rain were coming down, it was crazy. We piled into a golf cart, and were sealed in with plastic, and headed off to our room. I knew SSR was big but holy moley.... :scared1: It's ginormous!

So once we were loaded in and got our room (and realized that we had an ajoining 1 brm and studio instead of a 2 brm) we opened a bottle of wine and waited for the last two of our group to arrive. Once they arrived, the pizza was cooked and 2nd bottle of wine was consumed. We headed to bed around 12:30 am.

Glad to hear the ME worked, I was a little worried, but the packet never came, so I just kept my fingers crossed for you :)

My sister's DBF sent me some pictures off his camera last night, so the next installment will have a couple pictures. I was just so mad.... I even remembered food porn and everything :rotfl:

The studio + 1 br worked really well for us 6 adults, but when we first came in, it was into the studio and the bell hop looked at us really strangely. I'm sure he was trying to figure out how we thought we would all fit.

Actually the ME worked out better than last time when we did have the packet, so it was all good. Thanks again for all your help!!

Before we begin - Thank you to my sister's DBF for supplying pictures. :cool1: :cool1:

So we woke up around 7:30, and got ready and made breakfast in the kitchen. We were all so glad that we decided to forgo our ADRs at GFC and sleep in. I know the breakfast would have been more delicious, but the sleep was so worth it!

I wanted to have breakfast on the balcony, to enjoy the view....
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00032.jpg
but even by 7:30, it was so muggy and hot outside, that I opted for the air conditioning!

So we headed out, and grabbed the bus to the MK, and once there, my mom decided she wanted to take the boat to the GF. We watched about 4 monorails go by while waiting for the boat, but we waited for the boat... :rotfl:

The boat finally came, and we were on our way to the GF (Franck's and the WP were closed for referb while we were there.)

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00004.jpg

At this point, I was getting worried, because we were ALL there. And I  my family, but we can be... um let's say... weird, intense, crazy - pick one. Plus I was pretty sure my mom and I would have at least one of our patented "moments." So, I was seriously worried that our WP would be like "you people should be committed and run away screaming" :scared1: :scared1: But I needen't have worried. We were on our best (okay.. pretty good) behavior, and we totally hit it off with Maxine.

We got to the GF, and found our room:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00007.jpg

So we started at the begining... The Rehearsal and Welcome Dinner.
We're going to have the rehearsal early in the afternoon, and then have 6:00 Big River Brewing Works. We were informed that we would have to make our own arrangements with them because they are not Disney owned. So, I will get to that part later in the day.

here my mom and I are discussing something really important

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00016.jpg

Originally, I wanted to rent a friendship boat to take our guests from the boardwalk to Epcot. Because I know our guests, and it's like herding squirrels... but I was convinced that that wasn't necessary, so I will be chief squirrel herder and :squirrel::squirrel::squirrel::squirrel: and get my guests from BRBW to the International gateway, where we will be escorted to the French Arm and have a custom assortment of mini French pastries.

It was about this time that my dad became really excited about all the planning, and we had to restrain him.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00011.jpg

So we moved onto the wedding day, and started talking about transportation. We decided that we'd have a limo to shuttle the guests, and the Model A for the wedding party. We're getting ready at the Contemporary, getting taken to the Poly, where we'll meet Maxine and have photos taken.

Then we started discussing the ceremony details....

It was about this time, that Chris got out of control with excitement, and started jumping on the tables.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00021.jpg

Now it was time to have cake, but because of the outbursts of excitement by Chris and my dad (and the fact that they forgot to make the "regular" cake for us to test - they just made my special requests) we moved onto more exciting things, like colors and food choices.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00014.jpg

We basically went over all the stuff on the worksheet, and the nitty gritty of how to get it done.

My mom was really fascinated about the details.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00022.jpg

Then, when we couldn't hold consciousness much longer, the blessed cake...

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00026.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00025.jpg

In addition to the "regulars" (chocolate, yellow, marble, and almond) we requested lemon and red velvet, as well as blackberry mousse and cream cheese mousse.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00027.jpg

We discussed a 2 teir Mad hatter cake, with geometric decorations, and We tasted every imaginable combination, and settled on Red Velvet and Cream Cheese (I thought I would choose buttercream, but I greatly disliked the buttercream) for the bigger layer, and lemon cake with blackberry mousse for the smaller layer.

Dang...this post is really long, and we haven't even gotten to floral yet....

Thanks for reading. I'm having to do a lot of editing of the pictures, because he took tons of my DSis, and not so many of the rest of us... it's kind of funny seeing the trip from someone else's eyes :lmao:

Really, they were out of control, it was kind of embarasing. At least neither of them were audibally snoring

Red Velvet is my favorite too!

Thanks! I'm sort of a red velvet snob. It's my mostest favoritest ever. On a scale of 1 - 10 I'd give it about a 6. It wasn't dry as I've read, and it definately had flavor. But it had more of a tangy flavor than I'm used to. It went much better with the cream cheese rather than butter cream, which I usually prefer. It was okay, I've had better and I've had worse.

I would think that DL and WDW would use the same recepie, but who knows... they're not always the most logical :confused3

So after cake, Maxine left (or ran away screaming... I'm not sure which one...)and Rose came in. I really had no idea what I wanted for flowers except that I loved this bouquet.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Image001.jpg

Rose asked me what I loved about it, and I basically said “everything” I loved the color, the look, the style… So she basically was like “so you want this bouquet” I kind of stared at her like “why didn’t I think of that… yes” So, once we had that, everything else just sort of fell into place, and we picked out ceremony and reception décor pretty quickly.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00018.jpg

For the ceremony, Rose offered to put up pew padding for me so I don’t hurt myself (I told her absolutely no aisle pedals, because If there’s a chance I could trip, I will!!)

Then we moved on to the dessert party… and started talking about décor and glowing wine and beer glasses… This sent my sister into a trance…. Ohhh….glowing…

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00019.jpg

I’m a little worried to see my floral BEO, because we were talking a lot about orchids and I could just see the $ mounting… but we’ll see…

I must say that we were all really impressed with both Rose and Maxine, and really liked both of them. We can be frightening for outsiders, but both of them really caught on to our quirkiness and fit right in. I’m really excited to be working with both of them.

So after we bid Rose farewell, Monica and her DBF left us to head to Epcot. Hopefully she’ll pop in and give you her account for that part of the day, and my parents, DF and I headed to the bus to get back to the hotel to meet Patricia.

As we were waiting in the sweltering heat, my parents decided to head into the GF to get some Fairytale Cuvee so we could test it out, and DF and I continue to wait for the bus. Once it finally came, it was jam packed, because the bus also went to Typhoon Lagoon, and as I said, it was crazy hot… So we headed to the Monorail, and got to the MK post-haste, and grabbed a bus to SSR. At this point, I was nervous that we wouldn’t make it in time for Patricia, but fortunately, she was stuck behind a super slow bus, and was running late herself. We got to the hotel just a few minutes before her. I was able to cool down a bit, it was really really hot.

I met Patricia, and she really is as sweet and friendly as everyone says. We quickly bonded over allergies, and she did my hair and makeup….

Here’s where it breaks my heart that my camera fried, because I lost my hair trial picts!!! I emailed Patricia to see if she could send me the ones she took, because I have nothing! I will post if she is able to send them to me.

The best I can describe it, is sort of like Heidi’s hair, but I have much less hair.

After my hair trial, we headed to the boardwalk via bus to DHS, and then boat (you know, for not going to the parks, we managed to use like every possible transportation option that WDW has…) We headed to Big River Brewing Co. to talk to Darlene about our Welcome dinner. We had a few drinks, and reserved our space. It was about time to head to DDD to meet up with Monica and her DBF, so we headed to the bus, and as we’re walking we actually run into them. I’m not exactly sure why, but they decided to walk to the Boardwalk from Epcot to catch the bus… So we headed to Raglan Road.

I made ADRs at Raglan Road with some trepidation, I’d read that the food was good, but the noise and atmosphere were quite loud. Well, we loved it! We had the scallop forest and the Dalkey Duo. Delicious! My mom and I split the “It’s not Bleedin’ Chowder” and some crab salad appetizer that isn’t on the all ears menu. Both really good.

We headed back to the room, and popped open the Fairytale Cuvee. I hadn’t really read too much about it, but what I read was good… I wanted to try it, because my dad is a wine hobbies, so I wanted to make sure it was good. Well, I’m sorry to say that we all thought it was disgusting. It tasted like moldy blue cheese, not the good kind of blue cheese, just icky. I have a high tolerance for bad taste, and I felt bad that I made them buy it, so I drank about half the bottle. It just was not to our tastes at all. It was so bad that I even considered that we might have had a bad bottle. It was just that bad.

So, we decided to use a different sparkling wine.

We headed to bed.

We woke up and made breakfast the next morning, and packed our bags to head to the ship. The cruise was to be a big family reunion, and I could try to explain how excited we all were about it, but they say a picture is worth 1000 words….

So around 10:45, bell services came to take us to meet our driver.

I had reserved a Suburban through Happy Limo, and we were upgraded to a limo. This brightened the posse’s spirits a bit….

I’ll spare you the full TR of the family reunion, but instead I will go through the Joanna-style cliff notes.
We boarded the ship…

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00036.jpg

Got scared when we learned what the muster drill was for…
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00047.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00048.jpg

Pondered how we were going to get out of the reunion…
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00050.jpg

Then realized we had a balcony, so jumping was an option…
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00051.jpg

We met up with the family at dinner and immediately started drinking…

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00159.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00158.jpg

We then went to play some bingo…
Look at that concentration
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00059.jpg

So close… too bad we were playing full card…
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00057.jpg

After the rousing game of bingo, it was time for bed. The next day had even more fun in store.

Thanks Tammy! Yes, I'm so glad we tried it, it would have been an aweful suprise on our wedding day. My sister and I are still in our early 20's and will drink just about anything, but that was just BAD. Not for our pallettes. I'll be interested to see what you think, obviously it must suit some people's tastes...

Too funny. I'd say great minds think alike, but I don't want to drag you down to my level :rotfl:

It really is such a pretty bouquet. Maxine said she has that picture on her personal inspiration board in her office too!

Thanks! I just fell in love with the bouquet... I asked for it to be a smidge bigger though, so I have a feeling I won't fall in love with the price... but we'll see :cutie:

I just need to vent for a minute here. I ran to the mall over lunch with a co-worker who is also getting married, because there was a store having a huge shoe sale... and she found like 3 pairs that fit her and would be perfect. I have such Yetti-esq feet, that I couldn't get a single pair on! I have a feeling I'm going to be wearing shoe boxes! Oh how I wish I had normal and proportinate feet! I wear an 11, too, and it is SOOO hard to find shoes in an actual store! What is up with that??!?!?

Tell me about it! It's ridiculous!
..however, I got lucky... see below....

Becky - I was a 5.5 in kindergarten!!! :rotfl: (no lie!)

So... I was visiting my parents last weekend, and I needed black shoes, so my mom and I ducked into payless because they are one of the few stores that carries 11.5 W in their normal stock, and low and behold, marked with the $9.99 sale tag, were 12 W fuchsia pumps!

So I tried them on, and they were a little big (gasp) but really comfortable, and $10, so I figured if I don't use them it's not a huge waste.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/100_0436.jpg

So then my mom and I were talking, and she has some antique shoe jewels from her grandma....

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/100_0442.jpg

So I tried them on...
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/100_0446.jpg

I think they really add something to them.... and they could be my elusive something borrowed.

But my friend thinks they look cheap and will detract from the elegant look. I'm not sure. I just bought them because they fit. :rotfl:

And.....
Patricia was nice enough to send me my hair trial picts! So as a reminder...
ME:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Photo16.jpg

Better me:

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/hair1.jpg

Thanks, I'm not 100% sold on the shoes... They are a bit shiny... but for $10, I figured I'd take them cuz it so hard to find cute gigantic shoes.

I was looking for a "borrowed" jewel, and I don't really wear bracelets - they bother me due to an old wrist injury - and I already am wearing 2 sets of earrings, a necklace, and a few rings... I was running out of places for jewels! So the feet work well :rotfl:

The shoe jewels are great, and a great way to represent my grandma who is no longer with us... I just wish they were silver instead of gold!

I always feel so cheezy going to payless, but I almost always walk out with a pair of shoes, because they carry all sizes!!

oh i love your hair and make up !!!... im so torn on who to get for mine!! now i want patricia!

Stacey - you so should get Patricia. She's fantastic. I booked her because she has special hypo-allergenic makeup available, and I'm allergic to EVERYTHING... and I'm so glad she did. She was just great.

Oh your hair and makeup trial came out beautifully!! I love it!!! Your makeup looks very soft and romantic!

Thanks. I basically told Patricia that I don't wear makeup normally (cuz I'm allergic and lazy) so I didn't want to look like I wasn't wearing any... but I also didn't want to look like a beauty-queen wannabe. I love the way it turned out!

* * *

In other news....

I got my initial event BEO, and the floral one is on its way next week. Time to bring out the chain saw (we so need a cutting smiley) and cut down a few things. I'm already way over where I wanted to be. :scared1:

Fortunately I found a few things that were wrong (like they have me down for a 3 tier cake, when I want a 2 tier) so those being fixed will bring the budget back closer to where I thought it would be.

And I'm going over to my parents' house today to work on the invitations - hopefully a fistfight doesn't break out between me and my mom.

We're in a race to get the wedding invitations out before my cousin, who is throwing me a shower, gets her invitations out. Because apparently it's a big no no to send the shower invitations before the wedding invitations. (even though I've already had one shower....)

As the family left the ship for adventures in Nassau, we headed to the pool bar for some fruity drinks… So not a Lapu Lapu… this imposter should be ashamed!

We got ready for our awesome sting ray adventure, when the heavens opened up, the rain came down, and the thunder roared.

We stayed inside and played a really warped game of apples to apples (you mean not everyone associates “sparkles” with “Vampires” or “Danny DeVito”?)

Then we headed to dinner…

Then we spent the rest of the night playing Texas Hold ‘em and playing in the casino until 2 am.

The next day, or private island beach day, we woke to inviting skys

(yes, that is a waterspout forming in the background)

At least someone got a good beach day out of it…

Who wants to go snorkeling? Anyone?

Really? You sure?

Eventually the weather cleared, and Chris and Greg headed to the island to do some snorkeling finally.

While the girls had a little Bridal Shower

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Phun%20Phest/DSC00162.jpg

Don't have many pictures, but it was interesting... on the bridal trivia, there were 3 questions (about me) that I didn't know the answer to. Then my aunt made "bridal bingo", but forgot to make the cards different - so we were all playing the same card and all won at the same time :rotfl:

My aunts gave me pictures of some of the glassware on my registry, and had it shipped later.

Then, blissfully it was time to bid adieu to the family and head home.

* * *
I had a very productive weekend (super rare for me), but very little to show for it.

I talked to my cousin and confirmed a shower date and location (October 24) which sent us into a panic because we need to get the invites out ASAP, so that they can go out before the shower invitation.

So, we started on the invitations, and got all the hard stuff done this weekend - design, wording, printing, tracking down addresses... we just have assembly left. We have probally a day’s worth of stuff left to do, so I didn’t take a picture yet. My goal is to get them out the Tuesday after Labor Day. I figure that way, the shower invitations can go out by the 21st, which gives people plenty of time.

I got my first BEO, and went through and made changes and questions and sent it back to my WP, and scheduled a call with her on Thursday.

I bought plane tickets for us, my parents, and our officiant. ($74 each way!! Gotta love airline sales!)

I also made my first dress-fitting appointment for the 3rd week in September. Since there will need to be significant alterations, and we have those pesky holidays in there, I figured we’d better get moving. Now I need to decide if I should go to a specialty undergarment store, or if I should have faith that the seamstress will be able to handle my “women” (they’re definitely not girls)

Whew. I’m exhausted. I really have to go back to getting nothing done and surfing DIS.

My mother was adement about that one... I'm not sure if it's a real rule or not, but I wasn't going to argue with her  I guess it makes sense, the shower is in conjunction with the wedding, so you invite the person to the wedding first.... I'm sure no one would notice if you did it the other way around, as long as your not inviting my mother :rotfl2:

We're moving in September, so I'm trying to get as much stuff out of the way now, so that it doesn't hit me like a ton of bricks in November. Never fear, I will soon return to my slacker-bride status, and procrastinate all day long :cutie:

I got my floral budget back, and I was SHOCKED (in a good way) it was less than 1/2 what I thought/feared it would be and at this very moment, I'm $41 under my minimum!!! :yay: :yay: (Now, I'm sure it won't stay that way for long, and I'll find something to fill that with... also, I was told my MK photo shoot doesn't count towards the minimum, so I'm actually over the minum but not...)

So I haven’t been around a lot lately, it’s been a crazy couple of weeks. We’re moving from a TINY 2 bedroom apartment into a 4 bedroom house, and are currently startling between the two locations. So life is pretty chaotic. I also received a promotion at work, and the person who I worked closely with that I didn’t get along with transferred out of our department, which is great, but until we hire someone else, I am picking up the slack from her job on top of my new and old responsibilities. DF started school and has class Wednesday and Thursday nights until 9:30. Last week, I was making myself a sandwich, and the knife slipped - I have 5 stitches in my finger and cut deep enough to have nerve damage. Oh how I long to sit on the couch with a glass of wine and surf DIS all night!

Okay... enough whining... I have a little time here at work today...

Today is the 1 year anniversary of our engagement! When we started planning, my little day ticker said over 500 days, and now we’re down to 136!

We got a huge checkmark off our list today - the invitations are now officially mailed! After all the drama and indecision, they’re done. I don’t know why, but the invitations were and are something that really bothered me through this whole process, and something that my mother and I really clashed on. We’ve been fine for almost every other piece of the planning... but these were brutal. In the end we both compromised and I think they came out decent. I’m not in love with them, but I don’t hate them, and they’re just going to be garbage anyway, so I’m not too concerned.

We’re in the process of moving, and my camera is MIA, and I had to use this old dinosaur of a camera to take these pictures - so I apologize in advance for their quality.

How it looks:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/IM000791.jpg

All the pieces:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/IM000795.jpg

The invitation:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/IM000793.jpg

The “events” card:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/IM000798.jpg
(yes, this one is smudged - that’s why it was relegated to “my” copy)

The RSVP:
http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/IM000800.jpg

I’m so relieved to have these done and out the door! I feel so official now.

Oh and we heard for 100% official sure that DF’s dad will be coming to the wedding. He’s thrilled. I just wish there was any possibility of his mom coming... but I don’t think there is. His dad is worried about being bored... Seriously? Who worries about being bored in Disney?

And I’m having trouble getting in touch with the company for the slide show that I won at the auction. I’ve emailed them several time, and when I call them I get a generic machine voice “the person you called is not available. Please leave a message.” It’s pretty sketch. I’m bummed because even though we got a rockin’ deal, it was still a lot of money... you know? At least it went to a good cause.

I’m trying to convince DF to take a Disney break in November or early December, for the weekend. We’ve been so crazy - we need a break! I’ve got him almost convinced... I just have to come up with some wedding related thing to do while down there, and I’ve got him for sure!

Oh and.... I think I’ve mentioned before that although we don’t have the best relationship with DF’s parents, his grandma is one of my favorite people. She’s so sweet and supportive of us, and DF’s (second) biggest cheerleader. So a few weeks ago, we took her out for a fish fry and we were talking about the wedding and my dress and I said that I needed to find a bolero or something because I have a skin condition on my arms that makes me really self conscious, but I was striking out big time and getting nervous. So she called me last Friday all excited and asked how white my dress is... she went to the store and bought fabric and is going to make me a bolero! How sweet, and way more special than anything I was looking at. (She sells stuff at craft fairs and is a really good seamstress, so I’m not worried about quality at all)

Now that the invitations are out, I’m hoping I’ll be able to just sit back and let the RSVPs roll in for a month or so, while we get settled into our new house, and avoid overlapping chaos.

Thanks Stacey! I was so glad they were out. Except, we spent all this time and effort making the cheap invitations not look cheap... and almost everyone we talked to said that the envelope shredded in the mail, and the bow was poking through to the outside by the time they got it. Guess we didn't take into account the cheap envelopes. :scared1: Oops.

We're getting RSVPs in. No surprises yet. It's so real now. We're just under 4 months now!

I took my dress to Chris's grandma's to make sure the material she bought would work, and the material matches perfectly. I forgot to take a picture though.

:lmao: It's from Rescuers Down under. The lizard's name is Joanna. And it's the scene where the bad dude has the Eagle eggs, and the lizard is trying to steal them, and he goes "those are not Joanna eggs" hence my screen name too. Hey Sam! It's such a wonderful feeling to get the invitations out. It was a very trying few weeks before we got them out. Slackertude is so much better than actually doing anything :rotfl: (See I'm such a slacker I didn't even bother to make that sentence make sense)

Fingers still crossed on the bonus trip. Currently, I'm working the angle that we need to get some things for the Welcome bags that you can only get at the Parks. I'm leaving out the part that we most likely could pick up those things when we get there before the wedding since we are going before all out guests.....

But I like the DFTW emergency... I'll have to come up with something and let you know. But If I can share the bonus trip wealth, I'm all for it :rotfl:

Okay... my sister and I were going over some ceremony music last night.

Awesome! I have a spot in my heart for "Love in the Junkyard" as sung by Oscar. Listen to it, I think you'll love it too! (It's on iTunes!)

I just read through your entire PJ! I'm excited to read more!

:wave2: Welcome to the insanity. I love the shoes too, and I had my first dress fitting this weekend, and they added enough height that I just need like 2-3 inches off the dress in the front! :cool1: Bonus.

I decided against the crystal bouquet, because to get the size I wanted, it would be super heavy and expensive, and it would detract from the beading on my dress. But if you're interested, this is a great site with pictures and instructions how to make your own. http://www.geocities.com/chris_breecher/beadbouquets.html (http://www.geocities.com/chris_breecher/beadbouquets.html)

:wave2: Thanks for reading. I totally forgot about Love in the Junk Yard.... One of my favorites was "I love trash" by Oscar so awesome. Gotta love the 'Street (as I call it to make it less strange that a 26 year old has a love of Sesame Street)

Actually on that subject, Since my mom and the pastor nixed the idea of walking down the isle to I don't want to live on the moon, I was trying to incorporate it somewhere, and I stumbled upon this version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtt1hmcJgn8) which is AWESOME. So we're going to use it at the beginning of our slide show.

Not as cool as walking down the isle too it, but still awesome.

Also, just a funny story. I have a very strange and strained relationship with my aunt and uncle. My aunt is very strange, so this story isn't that shocking...

I got the RSVP card back from them, along with an engagement card. Inside the engagement card (with no note) were two tickets to the Renaissance Fair.... which is strange enough - not that I have anything against the Renaissance Fair, it's just not my scene. But beyond that upon looking closer as the tickets, they expired on Labor Day :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I even checked the postmark - it was September 30. Who does that? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: At least it made me laugh.

Ahh family.

Other than that, life has gotten in the way of wedding planning. We're currently living 1/2 out of the apartment and 1/2 out of our house, which is obnoxious, but we can't get out of our lease until January, so there's no rush - except the threat of snow.

We decided against the bonus trip in November, airfare was too much to make it worth it.

I ordered the luggage tags that I'm going to use for the place cards. I found them from another diser, and they are perfect. I'll have to take a picture soon.

We're just over 3 months away. I feel like I should be doing more... but I'm not sure what. :confused3

We're still getting RSVPs, we've got 36 confirmed with 8 most likelys and about a dozen potentials. At this point, I'm just crossing my fingers that we don't go over 50, because then we'd outgrow the Napa room which would just be fantastic :headache:

So about a two weeks ago, my sister came home for my shower, and she again expressed her...um...distaste... for her original dress. I was okay with this since we switched our color scheme and her old dress didn't really go with the new scheme. So we went on a dress finding mission and went back to the bridal shop that I got my dress and again it did not disappoint and we got my sister's dress on super sale for $36!

It's hard to tell from this picture but it's this iridescent pink/orange color, and we got a purple shawl and purple shoes for her to accent.

Don't mind the bra... it must be a family thing to wear brightly colored bras when being photographed in strapless dresses :rotfl:

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/dis-wedding/100_0452.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/dis-wedding/100_0454.jpg

I believe she's much happier with this dress so all is good in the world. It fits well, just needs to be hemmed a bit, but that should be easy enough.

The shower was nice, hopefully I will have pictures soon.

The luggage tags I bought (Thanks to Steph aka Wish on a Star for the link!)
are exactly what I was looking for. We will be using them as the place cards, with the insert (where you would put your address etc.) being the color of the table (each of our tables will be a color instead of a number)

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/dis-wedding/100_0459.jpg

I haven't decided if these will double as our favors as well or if I'll be ambitious and go ahead with the chocolates as well. We'll see how it goes.

We bought Chris's ring. We decided to go with Stainless instead of titanium because of the nature of his work, him smashing his hand and needing the ring to be cut off is an actual possibility... so we decided that Stainless was the way to go... durable but not so strong it can't be cut off. The fact that it was less than $60 didn't hurt either - we even splurged for the one with the diamond!

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/dis-wedding/100_0470.jpg

We also finally made our reservations so we have a place to stay when we're at Disney :yay:

So here's the plan:

21-24 BLT
23-29 POLY
30 GF

There's some overlap with BLT and the POLY because we'll be staying in a Grand Villa with my whole family, and we weren't sure if we'd need an escape from them :rolleyes1 Plus with the 4-3 deal and the free night we had basically an extra night... either we or my sister will use it. Also because of the 4-3 deal we are able to upgrade to concierge while at the POLY.

So basically things are going quite nicely. 77 days until the wedding!

So...pretty much around the same time we decided on a Disney Wedding, DF requested two things... a MK photo shoot, and a vintage car. Well the MK shoot was fine, but there's been a small dispute between DF and I on the vintage car front. DF really wanted the Model A, and I preferred the Rolls Royce. Well, I had conceded that we'd get the Model A, because it's a car and cars are "man" territory in our relationship. But I kept having second thoughts as I just didn't like the look of it. So in my last email to my WP I mentioned that I wasn't happy with the Model A, and she sent me a whole power point full of Vintage Cars we could choose from! Who knew?? I had no idea there was more than the Model A and the Rolls.

So I showed DF the power point and told him as a compromise, he could choose one of the cars on the power point (after a few I vetoed from the get go).... So..... This is what he chose...

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/car.jpg

It's kinda funky and a bit more "us" than the Model A or the Rolls... and Orange is one of our wedding colors!

COOL CAR!!!!:cool1: Very unique and great choice!:cool1:

:lmao: gald to "help" :lmao: Thanks she's much happier with the dress - I'm totally pleased with the bridal shop, and it's only 5 minutes away from my new house! Hope you had fun in my lovely state!

Okay so I have a dilemma. It's a great dilemma to have, but a dilemma none the less.

The RSVPs are mostly in (still waiting on a few who will let us know closer to the date due to baby or other health reasons) and if everyone who says they're coming, comes, we'll be at 54 people. Which is fantastic - since I started out thinking I'd qualify for an Escape package - but also horriable because the "comfortable" max in the Napa Room is 50. So I don't know what to do.... do I change all my plans and pick a new location - but then what if not all the "most likelys" come?... or do I just leave it and then we're packed like sardines in the room? If we were at like 57 I wouldn't think twice, but 54 is just at the cusp. Ugh. We're not doing dancing or anything, so that helps space wise, but not enough where I feel okay. What do you ladies think?

Hey Joanna! I don't remember what time your reception starts but if you are having a morning ceremony, you could possibly switch to the main dining area at the CG. That's where our reception is.

Also, will there be kids? kids don't take up nearly as much room so i thing the Napa Room would be just fine with 54 if some are kids.

I think if you aren't having a dance floor then you will probably be fine if 50 is the max witth a dance floor. If you switch venues wouldn't you have to get a new menu? What does your planner say?

Unfortunately, we're having a 5 pm ceremony - so using the restaurant is a no-go.

There are no kids coming (well there's some people that act like kids, but they're adult sized :lmao:)

The max is 50 w/out the dance floor - 30 with. And yes, if I switch venues, I'd have to change menus completely since the CG is separate. That's what's so frustrating. My planner said she has "squeezed" (her word) 53 people in there, but didn't sound too positive about it. since right now we only have 47 confirmed and the other 7 are definite maybes - I didn't want to push it at this point with her- just in case it's a non-issue.

Hopefully I'll know more soon - I just want to be prepared an make sure my guests are comfortable.

Ugh. That's no fun! I guess your best bet would be to look around for another location then. Is it possible to have a similar menu elsewhere? I'm assuming you can always get a ballroom at either the Contemp or the Grand. If you go with the Contemporary any chance you can keep the same menu? Boo such an unfortunate situation to outgrow your venue!

 Sorry about the room dilemma. Are there any other restaurant options? Like Jiko or Narcosees, or something...? And there are other venues that aren't quite ballrooms, like LSS or the American Pavillion.

That's really terrible with the room. Is there anyway you can get a definite answer from the "maybes"? Maybe if you explain the situation to them and how you will have to change locations they will be more likely to give you a definitive answer.

I think the GF would be more convenient since you're getting married at the WP. You can ask your planner, maybe you could get the same food. I know that you can get things from other Disney restaurants served in ballroom locations, so it's possible they could at least give you a few of the dishes you've picked out.

Good luck with everything!

Ok i'm done reading!

everything looks awesome I love the shoes. The nice thing i've learned about having size 8000 W feet is that you can find really great deals :thumbsup2

I was originally going to do the reception at the napa room for wishes as well, but then i decided that i really wanted to do a DP the night of the wedding and a cheaper dinner to fit the budget.

My DF thinks he might know you- he graduated in 2001 from Sheboygan. He said that you look familiar, just throwing that out there.

I cant believe the fairy tale cuvee tastes like feet! My personal fav is Rosa Regale, I'm not sure if they will switch it though, I already put in the order for 4 bottles the fairy tale stuff :scared1:

Yeah. Right now its just a waiting game. I think if we have to move, we'll move to one of the ballrooms at the Contemporary just for ease, but I really really hope not.

 Sorry about the room dilemma. Are there any other restaurant options? Like Jiko or Narcosees, or something...? And there are other venues that aren't quite ballrooms, like LSS or the American Pavillion.

Since we've got an evening reception, resturants are pretty much out. Jiko has a private room, but we'd run into the same size issue. I originally wanted LSS, so that would be an option, but now that we have an outside photographer booked, it complicates things. GRR. My mom offered to eat in another room so she didn't have to talk to people :rotfl: I might have to take her up on that.

That's really terrible with the room. Is there anyway you can get a definite answer from the "maybes"? Maybe if you explain the situation to them and how you will have to change locations they will be more likely to give you a definitive answer.

Unfortunately, the "maybes" are all maybes for really good medical reasons. One had a baby yesterday, so she wants to see how the baby is before comitting... totally understand on that, but that's 4 people right there. Another is having knee surgery on December 8, so doesn't want to commit until she knows how she's feeling.... I don't want to pressure anyone, because they'll likely just change their answer.

The GF would be convienent to the WP, but almost all my guests are staying at the Contemporary, because we told them to :rotfl: So, worst case we'll have to move to one of the Contemporary ball rooms. It's so bad, but I'm seriously just hoping that 1 group can't make it. Even just one, and we'd be okay because we can always do a sweetheart table and 5 tables of 10.

I just feel guilty hoping that guests don't want to come. :rolleyes1

So for now it's just a waiting game. We have to switch our transportation anyway, because of the number confirmed, but we're sticking to the Napa room for now. Positive thinking :cheer2:

Oh my gosh! that is crazy! we are like neighbors! haha. I dont know how we missed eachother. okay, Im going to make my way through your pj, I'm like 5 pages in :)

Thanks Amanda! That is funny. I went back and looked in your PJ, and your DF looks crazy familiar too. Did he ever work at the Children's Museum? I graduated in 2001 from Homestead, but my parents moved to Sheboygan shortly thereafter. We've probally run into each other and not even know it :rotfl:

We were super disapointed with the fairy tale cuvee, but like I said, some people really like it. It might be better if you have it with food? I'm with you though, I  Rosa Regale too! It might be cheaper than the fairy tale cuvee! (I saw it last week at Costco for like $13 a bottle)

Thanks everyone for reading along! We're 62 days out!

I stopped at Michaels this weekend to pick up some ribbon and they were having a huge clearance of Martha Stewart DIY wedding kits.

I got some simple invitations that I'm going to use as part of the menu cards for $5 for 50. I got some candy boxes 24 for $.70 and a program kit for $9 and a bunch of self adhesive gems. Actually, the only thing I didn't get was the ribbon I went there for

I also hit up the dollar bin at Target and they had blankets for $1. There were blue with snowflakes and pink princess ones. I bought two Targets out of them, and am on my way to two more tonight. We're going to provide these for our guests at the Dessert party in case it's cold and/or for their chairs as padding. They're perfect because for $1, I don't care if we leave them there or if anyone uses them.

Sorry I'm at work right now, so I don't have pictures of any of this, I'll update later with the pictures.

I seriously can't believe it's coming so fast! Our final payment on our hotel is due next week! (to me that's always an indicator that it's coming FAST)

Now I just feel like...what am I forgetting?

No he never worked at the children's museum. But him and his family are like 15th generation Sheboygan people. His parents still live there, its funny. but him and all of his brother broke the tradtion and all married girls not from Sheboygan ! I know sac-religious right :rotfl: So they all moved away but his last name is Huibregtse. I'm sure his mom has bought your parents chocolate at some point :goodvibes

Too funny. I'll have to ask my parents. They're actually in Kohler, not Sheboygan proper, but I'm sure we've seen them around.

Um... competition for the blankets - I'm not so sure about that :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I was visiting my parents this weekend, so I found them at the Target in Kohler first, and hit up Grafton as well on my way home. They also have red and white striped ones, but those were too Christmas-y for me so I left 'em. The check-out lady in Kohler said they were a newer item - within the last week or so. I plan on hitting the Miller Park and 27th and Layton ones tonight. They are kind of small - 2" X 3" I think - as you'd expect for $1, but they're soft and they'll do the trick.

just checking in.... anything new about locations/guests?

Actually.... last night Chris's friend who had RSVPd yes call and say that his daughter joined a synchronized skating team, and they have some big meet that weekend, plus he's got something with work the week before, so his family of 4 can't come. Which is sad.... but... it means that my wedding location drama is OVER :banana: There's no way we will out grow the space now! Plus, there will be no kids... which is easier because I was really worried about how to entertain them because we're not having dancing or anything at the reception and there were only those two coming. So two stresses gone in one phone call.

Okay... so for a few updates...

So... I as I posted before, we're down to a max of 49, which is (barely) below the 50 max, so I'm much more relaxed.

I'm having a size issue with the dinner part of my welcome dinner but I'm meeting with them over the phone tomorrow, so hopefully we can work something out - I have a few ideas.

Also I could use some pixiedust: and finger crossing that the group that has the French Island Lower (or whatever it's called now) tentatively held decides against it and we get it!!

I'm trying to take pictures of some of the stuff I'm doing, but my camera is dying and I can't find the cord. I'll go look for it and hopefully update later. Can I just say I HATE my camera and really hope santa brings me a new one!

So.... we're a month out (okay well technically Thursday is a month out - but still) really close!

So, today some of my AWESOME friends came over and we did a binch of wedding crafts. I forgot to take pictures when we were all working - it was quite impressive, there were of us working for several hours!

I'm one of those people that has all these great ideas, that end up being a ton of work and then when i realize that I usually start them get about 1/2 way and then get overwhelmed and the project ends up getting scrapped.

My friends totally saved me and helped with a bunch of crafts that I totally would have just scrapped - and they've even offered to help me one more time in a few weeks. Seriously I'm so lucky :cloud9:

Okay.... so onto the crafts

Programs -
I wasn't going to do these, it seemed unnecessary with such a small group, but as it turns out there are going to be several people we don't know at the wedding (dates and guests of guests) so I was starting to think about doing them, and a few weeks ago at Micheal's I found a kit that was marked down and with an extra 40% off, so I got them for less than $10 for 40.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Crafts/Programs-allcolors.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Crafts/Programs.jpg

It was a Brides kit. I must say, that of all the kits I've used, this was the best and easiest - so definitely a good deal!

There was also a matching invitation kit, so I decided to use those for my Menus as it was again under $10 for 40.

We printed the menu in different color ink to correspond to the different colored tables. The gem matches too!

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Crafts/menu.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Crafts/menuinfolder.jpg

On the same trip to Micheal's, in the same clearance bin, I found Martha Stewart favor boxes for like $2 each for 24. So not worth it! These were the biggest pain in the butt ever! DF, my dad, my mom, Chris and I all tried to get those stupid things closed. Then today my 2 of my friends tried too - to no avail. Finally my friend's daughter figured it out. And they're totally cute, but goodness gracious PITA.

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Crafts/favorboxes.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Crafts/favorboxes-close.jpg

I'm going to fill them with these delicious chocolate covered cake bites that fit perfectly in them. Lemon and Red Cake... just like our wedding cake. yummmmm

Another project that seemed simple on the outside were the luggage tag place cards. I got a great deal on the luggage tags, but putting them together how I had them in my head was like an 8 step process that involved unwrapping, disassembling then re-assembling and re-wrapping each luggage tag.

Did I mention my friends are AWESOME!

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Crafts/LuggageTags.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Crafts/LuggageTagclose.jpg

It's cute, but not positive the juice is worth the squeeze on this one.

So onto the crow jewel of the over complicated projects... the blankets.

This was a good idea that just got our of control. I bought blankets at Target from the dollar bin. But when I got them home, realized they were dog blankets :rotfl: They work just fine, but they were really small. So I decided to sew two of them together.

The problem is that... I can't sew :rotfl:

Enter my friend Oma. She's awesome! She learned how to use her sewing machine just for me!

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Crafts/Oma.jpg So awesome!

But since I don't sew, I had no idea what sewing 50 blankets together would take.... let me tell you - it wasn't as easy as I'd imagined.

They turned out really nice, and we wrapped them up in some "happily ever after" ribbon with a disney sticker. Again, I'm pleased with the results, but not sure the juice will be worth the sqeeze. Acutally, now that we put all this work into it - I'm 100% positive that we'll have 80 weather

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Crafts/Shona.jpg

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Crafts/blakets.jpg

To further guarantee that we'll have hot weather, I bought hand warmers at costco and wrapped them to match the blankets....

http://i450.photobucket.com/albums/qq230/pheifej/Crafts/Handwarmers.jpg

See.... aren't my friends awesome! So now I just have some welcome bag projects to do - and they're planning on coming in a couple weeks to help too. Awesome!

In other drama... Chris's brother (aka BM) told him yesterday that he might not be able to get off work. :scared1: Seriously.... we picked this date over a year ago.... seriously :confused3 He gave us 2 months notice for his "destination" wedding (in state, but far enough away that a hotel was needed) and we freaking made it. I'm so pissed there aren't words. It's not so much that he might not come, but that DF's family treats him like such crap. They pull all this crap, and don't care about how it makes him feel. Grrr.

Now I should probably do some Christmas shopping!

I just realized I never commented on your craft-a-palooza. Everything looks fabulous and I now feel so far behind because I have done none of those things yet!
Also I may have to have my mom get me into CostCo when she comes down because she really wants hand warmers! When we went to the Studios for EMH last week a CM gave her his because she was freezing and it wasn't even really that cold out. She is now convinced that it is going to be freezing at our wedding lol
