We'll be staying in the Clearwater/St. Petersburg area one night--any suggestions for a hotel? Staying on the beach would be nice, but we'd be willing to stay "off-beach". Thanks! :)

Hi, we stayed at Shepards resort on the beach in clearwater. It was nice and plenty of room we have 6 and had a kitchette and a livingroom, And the have a breakfast buffet for a good price too, and they had a band from 1;00 pm to 10:00 pm outside by the pool , after 10:00 they went in the lounge. Hope this helps! I think it ran about 125.00 a night but that was with the Kitchentte.

Banjo, I am glad to hear good things about the Best Western, we have it booked for a few days in June but have never been there. The pictures of it look nice. Are there cabanas on the beach? Does the beach get crowded? Are there life guards?

yes there is cabanas on the beack not sure of the cost, life guards cant remember seeing any, the beach gets busy at the weekends with boats and alot of fishing, make sure its the seawake and not the sea stone resort both best western but the seawake is right on the beach and is more updated wheras the seastone is right across the road hope you enjoy your trip also try the italian resturant right across the road its very good and reasonable.

Cabanas are about $16 I think.

Yes there are lifeguard stations all along the beach and in fact they are based by the roundabout/traffic circle as you arrive at Clearwater Beach on SR 60.
