Space Mountain, I love the ride, hate the wait.

Let's exchange ideas about strategies to handle Thanksgiving Day
I am following a low carb diet. With that I can eat all the turkey I want. I can eat salads and veggies too.
I was checking around and found real pumpkin filling is low carb. I won't be able to eat the crust but I can at least have the filling part with some real whip cream.
With all of that I am hoping I won't cheat. My birthday is the day after, so I asked my family if we could skip the cake and just go with the pumpkin pie. I hope we can stick with that plan.
Well, good luck on today's weigh-in. Lets make it 3 weeks in a row.. GO Red!!!:yay: :yay: :yay:

Question of the Day - Thursday
Let's exchange ideas about strategies to handle Thanksgiving Day
I would have to say Soaring is my favorite ride, though tower of terror and everest are high on the favorite list. I do love dumbo- it just says Walt disney world to me.
For Thanksgiving, in the past when I've been on program at the time, I would try to take a small amount of everything that I want, and stick with that, and plan to have a splurge for dessert. I love pumpkin pie, and can't not have it. I don't think we should deprive ourselves, or we may just end up binging later. This year, I'm on call for work, so I won't be able to have any alcohol, which will help me keep on track. I do ww and will try to save all my flex points for the holiday. It also helps to have some healthier, low cal dishes available to fill up on, and have small servings of the not so healthy stuff.
Congratulations to all you losers!! Awesome week so far. I am down .4, and am determined to stick with the program. Slow and steady is the way to be.
Pickles- thanks for the info on the sports bra. I feel like I spent hours at Lady Grace and did get a decent one, but just not good enough for any length of time of higher impact jogging or running.
Gotta get to work. Have a great day everyone.

Disneynut71 - Way to go! 50 pounds is a huge accomplishment. I need to lose that (and more), but it is mind boggling to think about it all at once. I know you said 50 was one of your goals, but did you set mini-goals along the way? It's nice to know it can be done!
Hope everyone had a good week (weight-wise and otherwise)!!!

OK team.....I'm UP 5 pounds this week. This makes absolutely no sense. I can't claim to be a total angel, but I've been to the gym 4 times and eaten reasonably until last night.
I could say that I'm up 5 pounds since yesterday (true). I ate one slice of cheese pizza last night. Water weight? OH well....looking for a huge loss next week.

I did not weigh in this week. I knew the news would be bad and didn't want to make it worse by seeing just how bad. I am having a really hard time keeping on track. For some reason I can't seem to kick it back in to gear. Maybe my body likes being at 155/160, even though I want it at 130/135. I have less than 5 weeks before our Holiday Disneyland trip and I am hoping to be down 7 - 10 by them because I KNOW that (for the first time) I will gain during our trip because FOOD seems to be a big part of this trip. When every other trip it was just something to keep our tummy's from grumbling.
I will weight in on Sunday (my usually weigh in day) and hope that damage is not too bad from the past 2 weeks.

I maintained this week. I'm not happy about it, but I've lost pretty consistently for the last 12 weeks, so I'm not going to beat myself up about it.
Question of the Day - Wednesday
What is your favorite ride in a Disney Park?
This depends on the day and the mood. I think my real favorite would be a toss up between the train (I LOVE trains, and I think it fascinates my entire family that I always want to ride it first AND last) and the Carousel. I have no idea why I love the carousel, but I do. I've even talked every one in my family into riding it. At MNSSHP this year it was my mom's turn. Seeing my 70yo mother on a carousel horse was totally worth the price of the ticket. Seeing her try to get OFF the horse? THAT was pricesless!!!
Question of the Day - Thursday
Let's exchange ideas about strategies to handle Thanksgiving Day
I'm going to go with a "make sure you want it, and then only take a small portion" strategy. It's always possible to go back for more if I really want it, but I know I'll eat it all if I put it on my plate. I've broken that tendacy just about every day except Thanksgiving. I'm definately a clean your plate girl on that day. I'm also hoping to ramp up my workouts that week and the week after to help compensate.

Listen,
That's not a true gain. It's not. I'm going to frank here. I can go up pounds from eating something that doesn't agree with me. Really. The body is a strange thing. The scale is a strange thing.
Just hang on and onward and it will disappear. Well, I don't need to say a thing you're already there  - looking to a new week.

Hi Christa,
I can hear your frustration. Just keep on. You are so successful. Do you do/have you tried interval training? I think we discussed it before. I think you do it. Anaerobic then aerobic then anaerobic etc. etc. in short spurts for 45 minutes.
Just hang in there. You are already successful Christa. Already.
With love,
Lisa

Exactly. Exactly!!!! We do not give enough :woohoo: and :dance3: and :thumbsup2 for maintaining. After the last BL that's all I wanted to do. Was simply hold on for a time period. And that outlook, and mental break, helped me greatly.
It's important. Look how many times you hear I lost 50 and gained 70 etc. etc. How different would that be if we focused on maintaining at times?
Underestimated focus. (But I know it wasn't your focus this week pickles!?!?!?? Smiling )
Yeah for you.

I have set mini goals of 10 lbs each. 10,20,20,40 and 50. 50 was the big one. I am half way there. I feel great and this is the first diet I have been on where I have not really been tempted to cheat. I look at bread and have no desire to eat it, which is weird because I am addicted to bread.

Just saying hi RunningGoofy.
Somedays I wish I loved running. Most days not. :lmao: ;)
I do everything exercise wise but. I am so not a runner. And to be frank at 41 and being a tad vain - I'd hate to feel my thin thin skin bouncing up and down. I never knew I was vain until I caught myself in a mirror jumping rope. Not a pretty sight with my type of skin. I used to do that jump rope - great exercise especially core - but I'm just far too vain after seeing that action. :cool2:

Oh, I so misunderstood. And runners out there I hope the heck I didn't scare you. I truly believe that it's great - fantastic - and doesn't affect most skin types at all. I'm just that freckled, Irish ancestry, see through type. And I honestly think - well my type just has to watch it. Thank goodness for jump rope. I never would have known.

It's a question that is tough to answer. I feel like I'm very close. Within twenty or so. But here's the thing with me. I'm big. I've always been big. And I always will be. So the numbers will always be off. And I'm relatively fit so they will really be off.
Ie. I weigh 218 pounds right now. And I'm back into a dress - and it's loose in spots that I wore years ago - 16 years don't ask I 'm about as far from a pack rat as one can get - throw give throw give is my motto - but it's a classy sheath dress I haven't thrown for some reason - and here's the thing....
I swear I wore it and wore less loose under 200. So weird, eh? So I don't even fit the weight charts. For big boned and 5'10" I think it would late 170s but I know that 170 something wouldn't look good. I'm in 14 regular right now. And really I can't see my natural body size being anything less than a 12. Really. I accept my body size now. I spent years hating that I would never be that girl. Now I realize I am my girl. :lovestruc
Did you want a novel? :lmao: :rotfl: ;)
So if I'm eating well - not emotionally overeating - exercisng the way that I love - well my goal will be where my body naturally stops. And I suspect 185-200. Who knows.

I'm down 1.2 pounds this week. The last month or so it seems that my weight loss has been S-L-O-W! I haven't been exercising as much as I was before so I'm sure that has something to do with it. I'm just ready to see the 150's and now that I'm so close (160.8), it seems like it won't ever happen.
I have a plan this week though and I'm GOING to stick to it! I'm going to exercise EVERY DAY, no excuses, and hope that I can get my 55 pound clippie by next weigh in, plus be celebrating a new set of numbers on the scale. Eating has been great, I just can't get the motivation I had before to work out. Planning on this week being different though :yay:

Yeah! That's so exciting all around. Here's to your clippie!:lovestruc :lovestruc
Me. I definitely overate this weekend. Just felt like it for some reason. Maybe emotional - maybe not. But it sure was yummy. I had Korean barbeque one night and Indian the next. I love them both - dearly. :lovestruc :lmao: Yes, I'm talking about my love for food.
But it's been a long time since I overate like that and it felt very uncomfortable physically. I felt gross and still do. No gult - I won't have that with food ever again. Decided that years ago. But body feeling - yuck. It's a good reminder that it's not just about the scale. Overeating feels pysically uncomfortable.
So I'll have to eat pretty darn clean in amounts this week. And that's the tradeoff of my decisions this weekend.
Hope everyone is having a good week.

Question of the Day - Monday
Name some things (non weight loss) that you have been successful at in the past. How can you utilize strategies that helped you succeed then, into succeeding at weight loss now. This is a tough one. When I was in my 20s and wanted to move out of my parents house, I set my mind to save money, and sacked away about 12,000 dollars in a year, and then bought a condo. That was a long time ago. I was very determined, and at the time there was really no stress in my life. I was really motivated, and didn't go shopping, or out with friends as much, looking at what I really wanted in the future. I could get that determination now, and do without the sweets, high fat foods, and look toward my future goal to be a thinner, healthier person. In 8 weeks we are going to disney again, and I really wanted to be below 185 and I'm 196 now. I've done it before, and I can do it again. I don't need all the extra snacks I eat when I'm bored, stressed, or depressed.
How is, and where is:lmao: , everyone?
Hope everyone is having a good week. :lovestruc In every way I mean. Not just weight.
LisaHey Lisa,
I'm here, just not as much as I'd like to be. I've found during the week, if I come on the computer after work, before my son goes to bed, I end up neglecting him, so I try not to. Some mornings I have time after he goes to school to come and see how everyone's doing. Hope you're having a good week too. I just love that you have no guilt. That is such a great feeling, and I try not to feel guilty when I over eat, but it's hard. Funny, when my sisters, or friends are feeling guilty about something, I'm the first one to tell them not to feel guilty, you have to take care of yourself, but it's hard to shake that guilt sometimes. That wonderful catholic upbringing. Gotta love it. The guilt serves no purpose.
Congrats to all our losers!! You are inspiring to us all. Hugs to those who are struggling. Don't be too hard on yourself.

I love watching the Biggest Loser of course. It is amazing how they start out and how awesome they look at the end.
Well, it's Wednesday and I think I have way to much stress. I have been dropping almost a pound a day. I do not feel hungry, either my diet is really kicking in or it's stress. I guess as long as it slows down a bit, I really shouldn't be worried.

Question of the Day Wednesday
If money were no object, what kinds of things would you have in a “home gym”, (sky’s the limit).
First I would have to add a room for a gym. Then in the gym would be a TV & DVD player so I could do my in home walking tapes. The floor of the gym would be like the "springboard" floor they have for the gymnastics so there would be less stress on my bad hip.
Then I would put in a treadmill that has a build in TV screen with different programs to walk to . Like hiking mountains, the beach etc. I would also want an eliptical and bike. Maybe hte bike could have simular set up like the treadmill?
In addition to these cardio machines. I would like some weight machines.
Oh and of course the room would have to have an awesome sound system so that I could blast my music while do my workouts.

Great question. I'd need a new room also, and would like to have a treadmill, exercise bike, with a good tv to watch while exercising, and doing my exercise tapes.
If I could have anything, I would love to have a nice hardwood dance floor, and a handsome male instructor to dance with me. ;) The skies the limit, right? I used to country dance, two step and swing, and it was so much fun, and great exercise. I would love to learn ballroom dance too. It would be great to be able to dance again.

:rotfl: I don't run either, but have been doing jillian's 30 day shred, which includes lots of jumping jacks and I know that feeling well.
.
Well Kathy,
I laughed when I read this. I too do the 30 day shred and when there are jumping jacks I do kickboxing or punching instead. I am so vain.
I do do the level two cardio because I can watch the impact more. But still do kickboxing on the warmup.
It's a good sign for me. I used to be 100% all or nothing kind of girl. So the fact that I can actually replace a part of an exercise tape and move on is huge. Progress.
And yes - I learned that guilt is really wasted time. I mean let's get serious - I am going to overeat once in awhile. Not that often because I've taken care of so many emotional issues. But it will happen once in awhile. So why have guilt? Just move on. Big changes for me.
I am way more balanced these days.

Question of the Day - Monday
Name some things (non weight loss) that you have been successful at in the past. How can you utilize strategies that helped you succeed then, into succeeding at weight loss now.
I quit smoking years ago at my daughter's urging. She was in kindergarten at the time and is now 16 years old. I was a heavy smoker, but managed to quit! I could certainly try applying some of the things that got me through giving up the cigarettes to losing weight. The biggest thing, I think, was taking it one day at a time. Also, I realized it all came down to choice (tough as it was to break that addiction, it was still a choice to smoke or not to smoke)! I am SO thankful I quit!!!!!
A year ago, I gave up caffeine. I never have been a coffee drinker, but my diet sodas were loaded with caffeine and I would drink several in a day. I used the same approach as when I quit smoking... taking it a day at a time. I have replaced soda with water which, I think, is a much healthier option.
I always tell myself (and believe), I can do anything I put my mind to. I just have to DECIDE to lose weight and choose behaviors that will lead me to that goal! I am doing well at the moment... just have to stick with it!!!! This may be my biggest challenge yet.

Hear Ye Hear Ye, the Weightkeeper speaks
This week was a success because each team had a net LOSS. This is good. Here's how this week starts.
-------------------Black Team-----Blue Team-----Red Team-----Total
started week---------17-------------22------------21------------60
removed---------------2--------------7-------------1------------10
current-members------15-------------15------------20------------50
not reporting 1 wk------2--------------6-------------3------------11
not reporting 2 wk------2--------------1-------------4-------------7
weigh ins for week-----11--------------8------------13------------32
Thank you to those that are still on the journey with us. I have not had the experience I had hoped for with BL 6 but I will stick this out until the end. Every day is a challenge and I need to do my best for my team.
Now on to the fun.
Red Team Week 9
13 weigh ins
2 gains totaling 7 lbs
1 maintains
10 losses totaling 17.9 lbs
1 removed from challenge with loss totaling 5.2 lbs
Weekly net loss 10.9 lbs
Cumulative net loss 129.5 lbs
Now the real fun begins. Let's look at our Red Team Superstars.
Once again we will include the following disclaimers. If you skip weeks your percentage is adjusted accordingly. If you gained last week and lost this week that affects your percentage. If you lost this week but are still working on losing last weeks gain you are not named a superstar. If you got problems with that PM or email me to gripe about it.
And of course the standard disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. I try not to. Believe me I really pour over all this stuff before I post it for you. I strive to be as accurate as possible. If you have a concern please PM or email me.
Yes that is all work for word from last week. Get over it. Here's the good stuff.

We have an upset this week. A new team has reclaimed the #1 position. Let's see who it was.
The week 9 WISH BL 6 Challenge Biggest Loser Team
#3-The Red Team-.478%
To be #1 you would have had to lose an additional 7.4 pounds
#2-The Blue Team-.574%
To be #1 they would have had to lose an additional 3.7 pounds
and now announcing our weekly Biggest Loser Team Champions
#1-The Black Team-0.798%
Congratulations to the Black Team. They were last #1 for week 5. This victory gives them 4 weeks at #1. That's more than any other team.
Red team you may not be at #1 this week but I do need to make a comment about your consistency. The Black team had a huge loser that cinched the title for them this week. You had 10 losers for the week, Black had 6 and Blue had 4. Your losses ranged from .2 to 5 pounds with 9 losses being under 3 pounds. They are small losses but they are losses. That is what it is all about losing consistently. The other teams presented the calculation challenge of those with losses after gains and those not checking in last week. 7 of your losers also lost last week. Consistency. You go Red Team!
Now back to the countdown. We only have 4 more weigh ins. Can the Black team continue their domination? After dropping to #3 after 3 weeks at #1 will the Red Team rise again? The Blue Team has seen 2 weeks at #1. Will they get their act together and get back to #1?
Right now we have only one Loser at 20 pounds lost so far. Will others join her? What can you do before the end of Biggest Loser 6? How will you get to your goal?
Each day is a gift and we have the power to make healthy choices to live the lives we want to live. Your team needs you. What are you waiting for? Get to work! I know you can do it!
Have a healthy day!

Well a huge, festive :dance3: for all the biggest losers.
I was suprised to be there. But because of low numbers I am.
But I was and am so darn proud of myself to be there during a difficult time. Thanks everyone for their support. Yeah Red!!
And a :worship: and a:woohoo: and a:banana: for Jeanette! Congratulations you! I wish I had a prize of the GF for you. Regardless way to go Jeanette. Thrilled for you.
And Brenda thank you so much for what you said about RED. Sweet of you. Guys, we should be so proud of ourselves. It's taken me years to get this weight off and I feel like I'm near the end. At times I was down about how long it's taken. But I wouldn't change it for the world. It all makes sense for me.
I am so proud about our consistency. :woohoo: GO RED!!!
