We are passholders but plan on taking advantage of the 4/3 package in April and in May. I understand we can only use one of the one day tickets toward the renewal of our passes but can we use the other ones toward something else? Like water park tickets or is there anyway to "cash" them back in if they haven't been activated?

No, you may not return the tickets. Non-refundable, non-transferable (once used).

I don't believe you can upgrade them to another type of ticket either, but am not sure.

We are AP holders too and CM told me that 1-day Base Ticket is only good for 160 days after issue. Did anyone else hear this? When we go in March, our new AP's won't be due for renewal until December, 2009 which is when we would apply the base tickets. But, that's more than 160 days. So according to that CM, they will be useless unless we pay extra for the "No Expiration" add-on. I'm confused. Can anyone help, please? :confused3

you talked to an idiot. If you never use the ticket it never expires

I thought unless you paid for the no expiration option the tickets will expire 14 days after check in......

They expire 14 days after FIRST USE, not check-in date

I bought MYW base tickets the first year of free dining. I used my AP while I was down there and put the MYW ticket away. It was two years later when I remembered to take the MYW ticket down there. I had read here on the DIS to use the MYW ticket first, then upgrade it, in order to get the current value of the ticket and not what I had paid for it. They were right. When I upgraded the MYW to an AP (again two years after I bought it), they credited me more than what I had paid for it (but I had to use it first:confused3 ).

As long as you don't put the ticket into a turnstyle it is good forever. Once you put it into a turnstyle, however it expires in 14 days.

I was brushing my teeth and something popped into my head...

You can never downgrade a ticket so there is no way to exchange a one day ticket in for a waterpark ticket, which costs less. Almost all, if not all, cost less than regular tickets.

So if I want to use them toward renewing our AP's in September, I have to not use it till September, use it and then take it to the window for credit toward my AP?

But if I don't use it I still can't take it to the window and get money back or exchange if for waterpark tickets?

I was told that it would not expire and that I could also upgrade it by days/hopper/to an AP. Lots of confusing information out there...:confused3

Right. If you don't use the ticket, it is good forever. If you do use it, any upgrade must occur within 14 days of first use. Since your AP renewal isn't until September, you can't use the 1 day ticket now and then use it towards your AP renewal. You have to wait until September, no less than 14 days before the renewal.

Also, tickets are non-refundable. You cannot turn in an unused ticket and get your money back. You can upgrade a ticket but cannot change its "type." So you can upgrade a 1 day park ticket to a 7 day or 10 day or hopper or AP and you can add the waterpark & more option to those upgrades. But you cannot change a park ticket to a waterpark ticket.

Thanks, everybody and snykymom, for the specific information. I thought that was what happens but that CM I talked to threw me off.

When in doubt, go to the DIS! :disrocks:

An idea popped into my head....
Does anyone know if:

I book the 4/3 deal, can I buy 1 day tix and then upgrade them when I get there using the $200 gift card? If so...I'm In!

Tickets are upgradeable with the $200 GC under the buy 4, get 3 offer, but don't forget if you are buying 5-10 days, up to 3 of those days will be free under the offer. Of course, that's only about $9 on a base ticket.

For the OP: Just wanted to add to snykymom excellent explanation, you can upgrade up to 30 days before and 30 days after the renewal rate. So, if your AP expires September 15, you can renew anytime August 15-October 15, so the ticket should be used no earlier than August 2.

The short answer, in my opinion - is that you can use them to renew your AP's for the following year. It would be wise to use them for park entry, and then put them towards renewing your AP within 14 days of that day.

You can upgrade any ticket within 14 days of use. So if you don't want to renew your AP's, then it would make sense to upgrade teh to tickets with Water parks and more, perhaps.

Not sure, but you may be able to use them towards water park AP's. You could also upgrade your AP's to premium AP's, but I don't think you can change them ot one day Water parks tickets.
