Hello,

Not sure where I should post this but hope someone can help me. Last September when we visited WDW, we got an offer from Photopass via email to buy before our trip for a savings of like $25, so we paid $99 for it. We haven't seen an offer and I just called the regular line and they told me they are no longer doing it? :confused3 The CM seemed a bit confused so just want to be sure that that is the case? Now we can only buy it in the park for $124.95? Anyone know for sure?

Thanks!!:goodvibes

What is photopass? Would you recommend it? Why?

I definately recommend it. It's expensive but with kids, I think it's really worth it, if you prebuy. It's the photo service by Disney. THey have their own photographers that are in all the parks and there are many of them and they take your pictures. They give you a 'credit card' type card that is your number and when you get home, you get the CD, can print them out where you want and they are all yours to do what you want with them....editing, zooming, cropping. We are a family of 5 and my vision of our own pictures was me with the kids, DH with the kids so it was the only way to get all 5 of us without having to keep stopping other tourists to help, you know? Check out www.disneyphotopass.com, it gives you more info there. :goodvibes

I certainly would recommend it. Disney has professional photographers stationed around the parks, hotels, and at the character meet and greets. They will photograph your family members for no fee. They will give you a card and scan it every time you have photos taken. They have photography stations at the parks and hotels so you can view your photos. If you chose to buy the pictures, they are pricey ($13 for a 5X7). BUT, you can prepurchase a CD with all of your pics for $99. For instance, I had over 400 pictures on mine from our last trip. So it was well worth it. Not all the pics are great but for me, it's my only opportunity for me to actually be IN some of our family vacation pictures!

Be careful about the timing of your order. The pre-purchase code expires 60 days after purchase.

How far in advance do you have to pre-order? When you get into the parks, how do the CM's taking the pictures know you pre-ordered? If you don't pre-order, and you have a lot of pictures taken over the course of your vacation, can you decide afterwards to order the CD??? Like when you get home?

The CMs don't know that you pre-ordered. When you first get there they hand you a new photopass card (like a credit card of sorts). Each time you walk up to a photographer, you hand them your card and they scan it into the computer attached to their camera. When you get home you go to the website and plug in the code that was emailed to you when you pre-purchased. Then you put in the card number of the photopass card(s) you received on your trip.

I *believe there is a refund policy. You'd need to read the info on the website

Photo pass will take lots of pressure off me and I'll get to be in the pics. Ordered my photo pass yesterday for $99. If you don't like the pictures you can get your money back just don't redeem the code you get in your e-mail.

I read on another board that you don't even have to preorder the photopass till after you come home- just before you do anything else. After all, they don't ask when you purchased it, correct? It just has to be before you order the CD.
Perhaps someone else can weigh in on this to confirm?

I don't know the answer to this but since the pictures are dated, I would not chance it and "pre-order" the CD after you get home. Pre-order it right before you leave. If you don't like any of the pics, they will refund your $99.

My Personal Opinion...i loved the preorder of the photopass, but......this time when we went to disney, the LACK OF PHOTO PASS PEOPLE was unbelieveable! They were no where to be found! The other times we were there, there were plenty! This time, they were lacking....none in EPCOT at all, none in DS, and only 1 the whole week on main street in MAGIC KINGDOM! What the heck-- i wanted the pics taken everywhere, and i was so upset...oh, there were 2 in AK on the main walk in, near the tree of life.....
We got a total of 4 pics on our photo cd, and trust me, i was HUNTING down the people for our pics! and we spent 8 days there!:confused3

Does anyone here know if the Photopass can also be used on the Cruise line. I would like to pre-order but am splitting 4 land 3 sea and can only justify the cost if its also good on the ship.

Can the photopass be shared between two families? COmbine our cards to one CD?

There is even a board on dis where people agree to combine for a photopass CD. The accounts are added and one individual burns the cds and distributes.

We just used the photopass discount on our trip to Italy, so i would guess you could also use it on the cruise. Any photos taken and put onto the website are covered by the discount.

You don't lose it, but it sure is a hassle to get the code reactivated.
If you don't like the photos or choose not to purchase the CD after all you can get a refund--after your trip. Just be sure not to use the code at all. They will not refund your money if the code has been entered.

Actually you do lose the pics. If you don't order your CD before time runs out the pictures are deleted.

I was able to have both WDW and DLR pix on my recent PP CD. :goodvibes I ended up with over 2000 pix after edits (just under 700 before edits):scared1: I did pre-order my CD for $99.95 but will be requesting a refund since the CD only cost $59.95 because the last pix entered where from DLR and the price you pay is based on last card # entered.

I'm not sure about the 60 days to use the pre-paid code-my receipt doesn't show that AND it says I have 202 weeks to request a refund. Maybe the 60 days is new, I prepaid in Sept.

Hope you can talk your DD into it. I love PP as it's the only way I'm in the photos too since I am the official family photog. :rotfl2: If you don't buy the CD do have the PP photogs take your pix with your own camera. They will usually gladly do this. I especially noticed this a DLR. Only difference is you can't have the added embelishments or "magical" add ons.

That's true however you can't put your own pix on the CD-you can buy the photos and other products, but not the CD. I know, I tried to do this with a few pix I took at BB.

On the website if you scroll to the bottom it says you can only request a refund within 2 weeks after completing your vacation. So you might want to check into that. http://www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitcdplan.aspx
So if you want a refund do it before your 2 weeks after your vacation is up.

Thanks for the info but the email I received with my promotion code says

To receive a refund, you must request it within202 weeks after the completion of your Disney vacation and you must not use the special promotion code to order Disney's PhotoCD. If the promotion code has been used, a refund will not be granted.

I pre-paid for the CD right before we went to WDW the week of Thanksgiving. There were ample photopass photographers in all the parks. We had alot of fun with it. We came home with 227 photos and I'm up to 330 now that I've added borders and signatures. I wrote Photopass CD on the card so sometimes they would see it and I sometimes I would tell them I had the CD when I handed them the card. They often took a bunch of photos. We have pictures that they added characters like fighting with Captain Hook, DD20 is holding baby Simba, Tinkerbelle is in my hands and Stitch is coming out of the ground. What I like the most was that I was in the pictures and have proof that I was there. You know I'm the one usually taking the pictures and don't appear to have been on that vacation. For my family it was well worth it.

LOVE photopass, a bit disappointed with the lack of photographers around the park this past week while there. They were there in the "hot" spots..Main Street, in front of Epcot, the hat in MGM, just not a lot around the park. Hoping we got a lot of great shots, just got home last night and haven't logged in, can't wait to check them out!!

You can have the family picture taken at the dinner added to the photo pass - but only if you buy the package then. you can give them your card and they will add it to the photopass. we did this at Chef Micky, Hoop De Do Review and the Spirit of Aloha. Not to sure if we would do this next time, as it got a little expensive. We spilt the CD with our friends to save a few dollars. By the way Hoop De Do Review was great - my friend was the little Angel at the end, what a great time and what a picture. He looks great all 'dressed' up. Spirit of Aloha not so good.

They don't have photopass at any of those restaurants. As someone mentioned, they do take your photo at CRT and Akershus. It's included with the meal. There is a code on the side of the picture. When you are adding your photopass card numbers to your acct when you get home, add that code number and it will add those pics to your CD. At CMs and Donald's they take your pic but you have to pay for it. It's about $30. If you do pay for it, you can do the same thing with the code. Crystal Palace and Garden Grill don't have photopass photographers. Most restaurants don't.

Someone gave you bad info. They do have a photographer. They take your picture in front of a big plate. However they don't take your pic for FREE as most photopass photographers do. You have to pay for a picture before they'll add it to your photopass card. It's expensive. We don't typically buy them because of that.

I pre-ordered back in June and just got back from my trip. No surprise now but the code did not work to order the CD. I wish when they change the system they would tell you. I've emailed them but I'm worried about the photos expiring as we had a long trip. Is it worth trying to phone them? Any tips to expedite solving this problem?

I 'preordered' the photopass CD AFTER I got back from my trip and had looked at my pictures. No problem. There is no need to do it beforehand, when you get back, look at your pictures, if you want the CD, then 'preorder' and then order with the code, done. I suppose you run the risk that the offer will no longer be there, but for me, I wasn't sure if I'd want it it, it was worth the risk.
