Has anyone heard if anyone has been ask to leave the parks because they were to drunk? I guess this would happen at Epcot or WS since they sell alcohol. I just wondered if anyone just got knee knocking drunk and had to be escorted out.

No Bayou, I don't drink. I was just wondering when some people talk about having drinks if anyone has had a few to many. Many years ago I heard of a dude that knocked Donald Duck out on a Disney Cruise. My BIL told me about it. They all had to many.

I was there with the family one night and a 20 something drunk fell back into the garbage can and knocked it over and it nearly hit my DD & DS. If it had hit either of them I would have been thrown out for good I am sure! I told him to take it easy. He apologized and sounded like the Budweiser I Love You Guy. I guess no one noticed because I saw him an hour later stumbling around. Who knows what happened to him that night!

I've always wanted to do the drink around the world, but there is no way I could without getting sick and drunk (w/ even 1/2 the countries) and I want WDW to be FUN not sick and drunken, so we decided next time we go we'll get a beer and everyone will share it at the countries and we'll see how that goes (cost splitting too). I don't know why you'd want to be drunk in that heat, let alone at WDW but I'm sure it happens and I'm sure people who get out of hand get in trouble just like anywhere.

I'd love to have a beer or two in England but I can't drink in the heat and we only go to WDW in August.

a couple years ago at rose and crown on the sat night of labor day weekend, there were more than a few drunks at the bar area, and outdoor seating area. i would say drunks are not typical... but on holiday weekends when the locals come out, more so a chance of it.

I couldn't afford to get drunk at Disney World! Even at the food and wine festival. A tiny little glass of wine is $4! Too expensive for me to drink a lot. A couple of glasses are good enough.

I would think that if you got both drunk and obnoxious then you might be asked to leave the park. But I guess you would have to be pretty bad off.

No, but I saw a guy at Pop Century pool bar escorted to his room by security. He could barely walk and needed assistance.........

It was around 3:00 in the afternoon too! :scared1:

I'm sure his family was so proud when they returned to their room to find him passed out there...........

I was just kidding ya!
Once we went to PI and as we were walking in we saw two people being escorted out. So I would like to assume they would do the same in a stricter manner in the parks.

I have witnessed what appeared to be a drunk, escorted out of the park. Two CMs were "assisting" them to the exit by the BC.

No but we left F & W at about 3pm an ddid not go back for Illuminations because people were already starting to get pretty loaded. As we left most of the people coming in were 20-somethings dressed up for a night out. Most adults in the WS area had a drink in their hands. I think part of the problem with F & W is that the drinks are very reasonable but not necessarily the food so people are forgoing eating in favour of drinking. I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear people were kicked out that night.

Not that I've seen. Going back to around 1998, I was at Please Island with a former co-worker who got blitzed at PI. I mean, she was so drunk that she could barely order another drink (and yet, they were still serving her). Well, she was doing ok until we got to the Comedy Warehouse. She was sitting on a stool, waiting for the show, and then just slumped over and fell off -she couldn't even stand she was so intoxicated! Disney was very kind, they didn't make us leave, but her husband thought it'd be best if we did, so they got her a wheelchair and took us "behind the scenes" out the back way of PI.

One of my favorite incidents during F&W was 4 adults on scooters with full wine glasses chasing each other around WS. They were weaving in and out of crowds, yelling and screaming at people. They drove right up to the kiosk for a drink! I think enough people finally complained because they were all escorted to the front of the park (sans scooters). :)

Can it happen? Yes. But, I don't think it is that common. You'll find stories of people getting well and truly blasted, but more often it's people with just a buzz on (and yes, there is a difference). It takes a fair amount of money to do that unless you're a real lightweight, and they do try to keep an eye on folks who are over-imbibing.

I would expect it to be more of an issue on weekend evenings during Food & Wine Festival (a few folks at the Party for the Senses were getting toward the heavy end of buzzed). Once F&W ends, there is less availability of alcohol (not at a booth every 30 feet), and that would likely cut down on it.

We were at Epcot 2 years ago NYE and I was amazed how many young kids were pretty well drunk. I saw very little in the way of security and lots of drunks, needless to say I was not happy. The kids the 14 & 11 were a little put off by their actions.

I remember being 21 , but did not expect to see it at WDW.

Besides the cost of the drinks, I've always thought most of the beverages at Disney, including Epcot WS, are a bit light on the alcohol. They seem to be substantial frozen and/or fruity concoctions, but the emphasis seems to be on the flavorings, syrups and frozen particles. Delish, but you'd have to drink a lot of $10-12-14 drinks to get drunk. Maybe the beers are stronger? Or the wine is bigger portions than people usually consume. JMHO.

However, we did see a couple of drunk young'uns on electric scooters last May (World showcase) Every time we saw them, they were running into barricades & walls and having great difficult backing away to straighten the scooters out & get going. Giggling hysterically of course. And spilling their $12 drinks all over themselves & the scooters. Don't know if they ever got kicked out or not, but they sure wasted a lot of beverage while getting wasted.

My brother actually got drunk at Epcot once. He wasn't hurtin too bad, but it was pretty noticable. Luckily that was at the end of our day so we didn't have to make a special trip to escort him back to the hotel. Guess he had too many margaritas in Mexico and too many of those Grey Goose citron lemonade slushies in France. :lmao:

As we were walking through the parking lot to get into Epcot, there were three ladies and one of them couldn't walk. I was wondering if we should get help, but DH said it looked like she was drunk and looking back on it, the other two didn't seem to be looking for help, so I guess she was that drunk. This was about 4:30 in the afternoon. They weren't younguns either.

I guess I'm in the minority, but when I'm on vacation, I DRINK! I've been sloppy drunk at Pleasure Island, but never in the Parks. Not to say I haven't been HAMMERED in the Parks... did the Food & Wine Fest. last year, and I was completely wasted.

Fortunately, for everyone involved, I'm a pretty peaceful drunk. Other than doing some weaving while walking, I'm ok. I just don't see me getting into a confrontation with someone over being bumped by a stroller.. the drunker I am, the more relaxed.

One of the reasons I feel comfortable doing this: Disney is a secure environment. I can be drunk and I'm (probably) not going to be pickpocketed. I'm not going to be mugged. My group also doesn't have to worry about designated drivers. We can relax, not worry about "who doesn't get to drink" and take the bus home.

I've also never seen anyone "in trouble" for being drunk in the Parks.

And for the "fun twist" mentioned above.... HECK YEAH... alcohol totally changes even Big Thunder Mountain!

Next time you're at EPCOT, look for the guy at Illuminations who's just staring at it with a stupid grin on his face.

My DH isn't a lightweight at all and holds his alcohol pretty well. We were in Epcot and he got a beer in Germany with the souvenior glass and after drinking it I think he was a little buzzed. :rotfl: He said "Wow that German beer got me." And his family is from Nicaragua where drinking hard and strong stuff is the norm.

Oh, its not under the cart, it is the cart (some carts in WS are just kegs and coolers that sell wines)! Every CS,restaurants and a lot of carts sell alcoholic beverages. And that is not just Epcot but all other spots except MK. In other words, it is not hidden.

As much as DH and I like to indulge in adult beverages, there's no way we will be doing so at WDW. Not with the way the economy is these days and the fact that we would go broke trying to get a buzz on. If I want to drink when we are WDW in the spring of 2009 I think I will wait until we are back at our resort. After all a 30 pack of Keystone Light is only $13.99 and with drinks at WDW in excess of $3-$? ( just a guess here) it would cost us $3 X 30 = $90 or more ?????? I think not..............I can get 6 cases of beer and totally trashed each night after leaving the parks and returning to the privacy of my room to drink and not have to worry about what the alcohol's power will make me say or do in public. I have far too much self-respect and dignity to openly display drunkeness. Plus who would want to ride anything while drunk???????:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I, too, like to indulge more on vacation. But the last two times we have been to WDW was in August, and as someone on the first page mentioned, it is hard to drink heavy alcoholic drinks in that HEAT, so we never got to drink around the World (we sampled a few, but never all pavilions)!

At night we would get a really good buzz on at Adventurer's Club, and I certainly will enjoy doing the same, if not get downright drunk, at Jellyrolls on my trip in December. We are staying at Boardwalk--we can walk home!

For the record, I don't go in planning to get drunk or buzzed, but at Disney it is very safe and we don't have to drive anyplace, so it's easy to really let go. At home one of us always has to be a designated driver or else pay high taxi fees to get to and from where we are partying.

We are not sloppy drunks in any way, and I have only seen sloppy drunks maybe once or twice, and it was in DTD, never in the parks.

I've never been drunk at WDW - though I like to drink, I really don't like being drunk - but one thing I always enjoyed in the past was to get a half yard of Bass Ale at the cart outside the Rose and Crowne in WS/Epcot. One of my disappointments with my trip this Summer was finding out that they discontinued them. I don't know if anyone remembers, but you'd spend a bit more for a souvenir plastic half-yard which actually contained a bit more than a pint and you could bring it back for refills for the price of a pint. Made great souvenirs as well. I'm looking at the two I collected right now.

I've been disappointed in the wines at Epcot, though. It's like they pick the wines to be inoffensive. You should be able to get a big, earthy wine in France, but I've never been able to. So, give me a Bass at the Rose and Crowne and a Red Ale at the Big River Grille on the Boardwalk after returning from the parks and I'm fine.

I took my first trip to Disney World as an adult in May. With my mom and sister who still has not reached the age of drinking majority (two more weeks for her now!). Everything that is said about space mountain, thunder mountain, and splash mountain with a buzz is true! We got to the MK in the morning and stayed all day until about 4. Then we hopped on the monorail over to the Polynesian, where we had drinks and appetizers (and I fixed my sister's hair like a princess, as she was jealous of all the bibbidi bobbidi boutique makeovers!). Then we went back to the park and hopped on the train to frontierland. It was dusk and even the train seemed exciting and awesome! This has become a new tradition for me I think.

Oh I didn't mean I thought Alan Alda had said it (I didn't know who, but it seems the kind of joike they would use). Just that he is related to me somehow, and I loved the show. :)

In fact, the first time I heard this was in the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's" but I can't be certain it was coined then. Might be older than that, and I would bet it is!

I think the point to the line in that particular show was that it was sort of out of character for Loretta Swit's character to be that drunk and saying stuff like that.

I haven't seen that in many years but I remember it...I can do that with Star Trek too... I know Scotty tried to get an alien drunk in one episode and they both passed out before Scotty could steal his weapon.

In the row in front of us a father was drinking heavily during Fantasmic. I heard him tell his children to sit on his lap because he didn't think he could walk up to the concession stand for more. He went up with his wife twice and drank four beers, then started sending his wife for more. He drank 7 beers within an hour.

His kids were talking to mine and we found out they were there just for the show and would be returning to Jacksonville that night.

I hope his wife drove.

I've never witnessed a drunken incident at Disney World and have never been drunk at Disney myself. I like to drink and it doesn't take much at all for me to get a good buzz going but it's just so expensive! Las trip I had about a drink a day (usually with my meal) and when I got home I added the cost up and it was over $100 just for alcohol.

I can't imagine how expensive it would be to drink around the world, mind you I don't like beer so I can't go the cheaper route.

When I hit WDW, I'm on vacation, so I'll never lie and say I don't drink to get buzzed. I'm staying on site, so Disney is my designated driver. Probably every night I'm there I'll get a nice buzz going during and after dinner, and I'm sure there are many other responsible adults doing the same thing.

Getting totally drunk is another story. I think the majority understand that most of WDW is an all-ages atmosphere, and the enviroment isn't exactly the sort that would encourage getting flat wasted. Even during F&W Fest, I think you'll only find the odd individual completely loaded, and I've found that more pathetic than dangerous. Why anyone would want to be the drunk 'life of the party' in Epcot is beyond my understanding? We're not talking Vegas or Cancun here. I've seen them during F&W, but most of the time they're harmless and making idiots of themselves, or surrounded by embarrased friends/family. The only place I've been really drunk (but still in control of myslelf), was the Adventurer's Club, but it's fun to make an idiot out of yourself there :thumbsup2

I don't think I've ever grabbed any alcohol in any of the parks except for Epcot. But on my Epoct days, I don't think I've ever left the WS without enjoying some alcohol. F&W Fest is the best time to visit WDW!

I am looking forward to Disney with my sister and niece - both responsible adults.

As a general rule, I do not drink at home, however, - I will be on vacation. :cheer2:

We plan to do the Monorail Marathon, starting first with Wilderness Lodge, and will be splitting the drinks and appetizers (otherwise not only would I not last past about 2 resorts - but also it is expensive)

I am truly looking forward to trying different drinks, seeing the Christmas decorations, and leaving the driving to Disney.

Anyone have a favorite specialty drink along the Wilderness Lodge- Monorail Resort route?
Any drink that would provide a souvenir?

Will do Epcot World as well... same method, sharing drinks and appetizers.

12 years ago I was on my honeymoon and I *tried* to drink around the world. It was the F&W festival and I made it from Canada all the way to Germany. At Germany we got a jaagermeister shot and I absolute HATE jaag so I don't know why I even attempted it. That put me way over the edge! I then tried to have one more wine at the next stand and ended up spilling the whole glass of red wine all over my white shirt and all over the ground. DH and I left the park for the afternoon for a much needed nap!! I wasn't impacting any other guests or being obnoxious in any way, but I was feeling good. Hey - it was my honeymoon and I was in WDW, give a girl a break!! :drinking1

The next day we went back to Epcot (without the excessive drinking) and there was this big red stain in the same spot as my spill!!

To this day as many trips as we've been on, we always stop and chuckle about the scene of the spill and remember how much fun we had that trip!!

(Just for the record, Hurricane Hannah's has a mean mai tai!!! I'm guilty of putting a way a few of those while DH and DD swim in the pool!!)

On another note, that tower of slushies is impressive. I counted at least 60 something glasses. at $9 a piece, that must have been quite the tab!!!!
