I have an electric roaster that I love.

I would like to cook my Thanksgiving Day Turkey in it. Will it get brown in the roaster? I would hate to have it cook for hours, open the lid & find it white as can be! :scared1:

Cooking it in the roaster sure would make more room in the oven.

TIA!

Like a nesco roaster? Yes, the turkey does brown in one of those.

It's actually a Rival. Would that make a difference?

Thanks!

The Rival roasters are pretty much the same as a Nesco, although usually not as big. Just make sure your turkey is not too big for your roaster and that the lid will close all the way.

Thanks so much!!

Now - here's my next question...... :upsidedow

I always use a cooking bag. Will it work in the roaster, too? Or should I skip the bag?

I feel like such a novice. I Have made Thanksgiving Dinner before, just never in the roaster.

Thanks Again!

I've never known anybody to use one in a roaster. The bag cannot touch the oven walls and since you really aren't using a pan inside the roaster it might melt.

And the Rival is similar to the Nesco...they are just brand names.

I was thinking the same thing about the bag, but wanted to check.

I think I'll give the roaster a shot. :stir:

Thank you for your help, everyone!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

The turkey does brown and stays really moist - the skin does not get really crispy, though.
