Okay, here it is! The CBR picture post!
On Sunday April 21, 2002 we arrived at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.
ALMOST THERE!!!!
http://members.verizon.net/~vze22jyg/cbrpost1/1Entrance.JPG
We arrived at the Custom House to see a VERY long line at check-in. Most Guests were waiting to check out. ALmost immediately, they opened up some more windows. The CM did not have any of our room requests. I argued until we got an acceptable room which was all ready at 11am. We went immediately to our room in Trinidad North Room 3237 and this is what we saw....

Great pictures! We stayed in Jamaica 43 and the interior was identical. Your pictures should help the people that are reading old posts on the resort and waivering about the condition of the rooms.

Thanks for sharing. I just got back 3 weeks agoand it seems like it was sooo long ago. I thought the resort was fabulous. I can't wait to go back again. I think my husband will love it. The beach and the landscaping are great and the music is enjoyable. We usualy stay at the Poly so I was happy to find a moderate that was similar in feel to the Poly which is a personal favorite.
What a beautiful resort. Those are great pictures. Thank you for taking them for all to see.
CBR rooms look pretty good. Nothing appeared to be in poor condition.
So check in was a little difficult? Did they resolve all your issues timely? Will you post a trip report?
Have I asked too many questions?:D
I like CBR and am trying to collect as much info as possible on my top 5 resorts.
Thanks again.

Glad you liked the pics!
Missy Rye- yes. There are ice machines on each floor near the staircase. There are signs that point the way.
JAP- you can never ask too many questions. Check in took less than a half hour total. THe CM was EXTREMELY nice and was trying to work with me. She would suggest a building and point it out on the map, I would say "no." She would point, I would say "no" FINALLY she said "What exactly is it you're looking for?" I was able to tell her: Non-smoking, close to OPR, near the bus stop, no parking lot view. She immediately gave me the choice of Trinidad NOrth 32 or I could wait for Martinique 24.... I took TN. It was really no biggie, though I was peeved that they did not have our room requests (made through CRO when we booked).
All rehabbed rooms look the same! It no longer varies from Area to area.

Ted and Holly,
What great pictures! We just got back from CBR May 3-6 (stayed at the Yacht Club on the 7th). I haggled a little at check-in too to get what I wanted - got Jamaica 45 which was wonderful! The CM at check in was very nice. It was the CM at the Yacht Club who was a bit unfriendly!
We loved CBR. No big waits at the Food Court. We used the water mice 2x. Loved the walk over the bridge each day, listening to the music.

Ted and Holly,
Your pictures are just great. As you can see I'll be there next week and I am getting so excited. It's a first time there for me and I have requested Trinidad North too.
Thanks so much for the pictures........

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone!
The food court at CBR is not bad. They have a Bakery, a Pasta Shop, a Deli, a Hamburger shop, and a BBQ place. Then there is the Captain's Tavern. We have not eaten there.
The volleyball court is located at the large beach next to the main pool. It is on the Trinidad side.

Hi Kimmar067!
These are my thoughts on CBR: This is a resort I would stay in if I were coming in early - thereby increasing the liklihood of getting a room close to Old Port Royale. The resort is huge and some of the villages are quite a hike from the food court. I was riding my bike around and heard one little boy wailing ...aren't we there yet?! - meaning, his room. If you've got little ones, bring a stroller. July is going to be tough too, with the heat.
If you're coming in late and can't get the room you want, and they offer you a closer room the next day, take them up on their offer and move the next day.
I love the food court - lots of variety and the dining area is great - there's a little alcove with a TV - a door leading out to outside tables - it's really very nice. But, eat during odd times to minimize your waiting. Eat breakfast very early - the resort is so beautiful early in the morning - eat lunch in the parks or at a monorail reosrt to break up the monotony of eating at CBR all the time - and, then eat dinner at some off hour or order a room-service pizza.
Nothing bad about this resort except the hike to Old Port Royale. I think if you've got a car, and want to be away from kids, some of the more remote villages might then be nice.

...one more question. I was showing my DH your wonderful pics so he too can get in the "mood" for our vacation at WDW, and I noticed in the photo of the "closet" there were a few CBR mugs on the shelf. Did you put them there, or do they come with the room now??? I've sayed at other mods, and have never had this service...

How far in advance did you make your reservations before your trip?
kimmar067
05-10-2002, 07:37 AM
Who is your question for?
Ted and Holly
05-10-2002, 09:17 AM
When you check into your room, you will find four refillable mugs wrapped in plastic and a couple ponchos on the round table. If you use these, the charge will be billed to the room. If you leave them, after the first day, housekeeping will put them in the closet. Or did Holly do that? :)
We booked in February and we were almost too late. There was very little left in ANY WDW resort due to that week being the first of several good discounts.

Ted and Holly. That is such a nice convenience - having the mugs right in the room when you get there!!

We did the unthinkable and brought our mugs from our April 2000 trip! They were EXACTLY the same except a little round circle with WDW's millennium logo on it. It was EASILY covered up by my thumb! LOL!
Ted, dear! I put the mugs and ponchos in the closet, silly!!!!! Are you going to tip me??

Ok, I'll give you a tip... Be careful openning the freezer.

...are too funny:D !! BTW - those ponchos - will we really need them? I mean, does it rain every afternoon in the summer????
Ted and Holly
05-11-2002, 09:37 AM
It really depends on the week. Both times we went in APril and stayed at CBR, it never rained! I take that back! We saw TWO DROPS of rain one night, and it poured while we were in the Rainforest Cafe on Friday 26th. By the time we were done eating, it was over.
Our Novemeber and December trips had entire days of rain. In that case, you may need the ponchos. Keep an eye on the forcast!
Ted, what's in the freezer???

Ted and Holly, I love the CBR and I love your photos!
Ted and Holly, Thank you for posting your pictures. I was also staying at CBR the same week as you. Your pictures turned out great, my DH made fun of me for taking a picture of the room. He is still not hooked on Disney. We had a room with a king bed, first weeklong trip without kids. We stayed in Jaimaica 43, no parking lot views in that building, our room had two windows since it was on a corner. We were on the second floor, and from the walkway in front of our room we looked out on a beautiful fern garden. While the building was quite a hike to OPR, I think we exchanged the location for peace and quiet. We really never saw many people on our way to and from our car, the quiet pools had maybe four families there at any one time. If you are staying that far from the OPR I really feel that it helps to have a cooler and beverages in the room. We had water, diet pepsi(not coke,
like everywhere else in the world), beer and OJ. I don't think those cups hold that much to make the long walks worthwhile.
I bought a filled mug at MGM our first day, cute logo for the 100 celebration. I could then bring a cup of ice to the pool with my plastic bottle of pepsi. My husband used the room ice bucket to bring his beer. 90+ degrees! It sure was warm.
We had a great time, I really love this resort!!!!

you just gotta keep at it!!! (working on converting your DH to becoming a WDW Lover, that is -lol!!;) ) I finally made a Disney-lover out of mine and now we are going back to CBR in July!!! (I think he really enjoys bringing "newbies" to WDW and acting as "Expert"!) So glad you had a great time...:)
