We will be going over to disney for a couple of nights during Thanksgiving.(Don't feel like cooking this year)I don't know what planet I was on when I booked a studio at bwv at the 11 month window. We really need a one bedroom...so now of course we are waitlisted. Today I was offered a 1 bedroom at okw for those nights. Should I take it???Never done a larger unit at okw before...just a studio. We won't be doing disney parks that trip...just shopping, mini golf, swimming and maybe seaworld. Is there a boat from okw to downtown disney?Where to eat thanksgiving dinner? Will it feel like holiday madness there or will it still be laidback and relaxed. In someways, the thought of staying there is appealing at that time of year. OKW didn't really turn me on the time we stayed there, but like I said , it was in a studio, one night...and it was COLD out so we didn't do much exploring. Suggestions, anyone?

This is my first Thanksgiving trip. It sounds like OKW would be great for this trip if you are looking for laidback and relaxed. It sounds like starting the day before Thanksgiving things get pretty crowded but I think since you are not doing disney parks the crowds shouldn't bother you. There is a boat to downtown disney. Anyone else have any thoughts. I haven't decided about Thanksgiving dinner yet. Good luck with your decision.

We have done OKW for Thanksgiving for the last three years. It is laid back and relaxful. We go to Publix and order a dinner cooked for 4 and reheat in oven while renting surrey bikes or swimming depending on weather. We have had 80 degrees and we have had 40's too! We stay out of parks for a few days while the crowds are bad for the holiday. We really feel at home and like this spot for holidays. We will be back this year....we did the Disney cruise, BWV, the parks, will have tried the new BCV and off site prior in the year....looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the Disney spirit during a holiday. Then we get to enjoy the Christmas decorations the day after throughout Disney, so great time to go.

ez,
The difference between a studio and a 1 BR in any DVC resort is wonderful but at OKW it is incredible!! The 1 BRs at OKW are great and since you will not be doing the parks the location of the resort will not be a factor and the quiet atmopshere will be an added plus, also the 1 BR at OKW has a nice large dining table for your Thanksgiving feast!

We've done T'giving twice at OKW. The first time in '99 Disney sponsored a catered in your room dinner which was great. Last year they didn't offer it so we got a pre-cooked T'giving dinner at Publix. We picked up the Turkey, potaotes, green beans, stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy, rolls, sweet potato cassarole the day before. We added desserts. The guys heated everything up while the girls were at a DI spa day. It was great. Then we had all the favorite leftovers for the remainder of our stay. It really felt like home.

The resort itself is wonderful Thanksgiving week. If you are not planning on going to the parks you won't feel crowded at all.

We went to Sea World the day after Thanksgiving last year. It was so awfully crowded we left after 1 hour. If we didn't get in for free because we were season pass holders we would have been extremely ticked.
