Codes - Questions about Reservations

I have a couple of questions -
What type of reservation is best to have in place already while waiting for a code?
Should I book my last choice resort or my first choice resort?
Should I book it as a package with tickets?
Or as a package with tickets and dining?
With all of the different codes coming out now, i'm hoping a code will code out for me. I haven't gotten one yet. We are going 11/21/2009 to either 11/27 or 11/28/2009. I want to stay Deluxe (either CR or WL, but wouldn't mind staying at any with the right code), but I could book either mod or value, just to wait. Seems like they are hurting for reservations right now and I don't want to hurt my chances of getting a good rate by booking too early. Thanks

I would book my first choice of resorts and book a room only reservation. Room only reservations have much more flexibility if you want to make a change to it than a package does. And if you want to stay at a particular resort you might as well make the reservation for that resort. Then you won't have to worry about not being able to get a reservation there later on.
