The Hilton is on the monorail so whether you stay there or not it should be easy to get to. My husband liked the hotel but that was back when the Star Trek Experience was there. Sorry I don't have any recent info for there, it was last year.
The Hilton is off the strip though. I prefer to stay on the strip or at the Hard Rock if we go off strip.
There is a lot of fun to be had in Vegas, just do a little research and see what interests you! I like to go by the half price ticket booths, just to see what's available. Keep in mind it's not always half off but usually a bargain none the less!

We are early 40's also but boy was the HRH hotel fun with a pool view! Summer time was quite entertaining there. They also had amazing concerts, some pool side! Last year my husband was there for many months so I was able to join him a couple of times. I never go clubbing so I didn't care about the 20 somethings but they are fun to people watch! We liked the service and food at HRH, the music is nice too. I get tired of regular casino music so I found the HRH a refreshing change.
They closed the Star Trek thing in September I believe. No word on whether or not they will be putting it somewhere else. I'd heard a rumor that the collection was being broken up, but that's just a rumor.
