Half Board help

With the exchange rate so bad at the moment is it worth me getting half board vouchers?Will it really save me any money?

We tend to snack at lunchtime and have a main meal in the evening and I am hoping to try Walt's,Annette's and probably the buffet at SL.
I have read some other posts about the vouchers but am still confused :confused3 about face value etc.

Sorry to ask a really silly question but I can't get my head around it :confused:

I have booked HB premium for January as we are (or should i say i lol) planning to eat in the more expensive restuarants, It worked out a lot cheaper to do this then pay when there.

Not sure if this helps value wise but for a 3 night stay in the DLH HB Premium was £126 for me and my DD.

I definitely think they are worth paying for, if you prefer to have one table-service or buffet meal per day.

One of my boys is 13 would I have to buy adult HB vouchers for him?He is not a big eater and would usually have a kids meal.

Kyra never eats in DLP, if she does its mostly fruit. So i'm assuming HB may be a waste for me but at least ive paid for us to eat in the restuarants so its one thing less to worry about.

Unfortunately the price of the Half Board vouchers go on age, so at 13, yes, you'd have to buy adult price vouchers for your son. Whichever half board option you choose, you have to buy a voucher per nights stay per person in your party (so if you are staying for 2 nights, and there are 2 adults, a 13-year old and a 7-year old for example, you'd have to buy a total of 6 adult vouchers, and 2 child vouchers).

Yes, you will get 3. You get one for every night of your stay.

I remember there was a website with all the prices and menus for both parks and Disney Village-can anyone remind me what it is?

If I can have an idea of prices I will weigh up whether it's worth buying the HB vouchers.

Having never eaten at any of the 'better' restaurants before(we have always ate at the counter service places as the boys were small eaters and didn't want to sit still for very long:rolleyes: ) and this new HB thing I can see I've got lots of research to do!

If you have the half board vouchers, is it a differnt menu you choose from in the participating restaurants, or is it from the main standard menu? If it is a special half board menu, is it of the same standard (size, choice) as the normal menu?

I've only used my half board vouchers so far on the buffet restaurants - and thats exactly the same food choices as if you paid on the day.

I believe the table-service restaurants offer a different menu if you are using half board vouchers - these are more restricted than the full menu. However, at all table service restaurants you can order from the full menu and use your half board vouchers at face value to take off the bill.
For example, if you eat at Cafe Mickey from the full menu, and your bill comes to 35 euros, you can use a half board plus voucher and get face value for that of 25 euros, leaving you 10 euros still to pay on your bill by other means (ie cash, credit card etc).

I am also thinking of getting half-board vouchers added on, my question is this ... my DD is 11 on our arrival day and so DLP reservations have her down as a child - she is 12 the next day so will that affect the half board vouchers (which are 3 - 11 child age)?

The age that important is her age on the date you check in - so as she's 11 on that day, you pay child half board prices for your DD for the entire duration of your trip :) .

Thank you for your help. If I wanted to add on Half Board vouchers, how do I do it? We booked through a travel agent, so do I ask them to add it on or is it something I can purchase separately?

I'm guessing your travel agent should do it, as you booked through them. If they can't help, you would need your Disney booking number to be able to add it yourself with Disney direct.
