My son has been assigned to Attractions, now the common sense side of me says that he'll be doing a ride in one of the parks. But then I read a description of Operations and it sounds almost the same? What is the difference, and could you explain specifically what he'll be doing for Attractions? thanks.

Are you talking about California or Florida?
I believe Florida used to have operations but it was then split up into attractions and main entrance operations.

I was reading the long thread, going back to 07 about the different areas, and one of them was Operations, I think they were talking about Fl.

Here is a list of all roles available in Florida and their descriptions.

At both the DLR and WDW, Operations is just the formal name for Attractions.
Operations is what appears on our ID Cards (at least here in Calif., and I'm pretty sure it does in Florida, as well) in the field that lists our Line of Business. It's also what the LOB is referred to as in most Company Documents. CMs will also use it sometimes, mainly in order to confuse CMs who work in other areas ("Where do you work?" "Tomorrowland Ops." "What???")
Attractions is the unofficial name for the Line of Business, and is the term that is most often used when referring to it, particularly when talking to people who don't work there.

Ops is a lot quicker to say than attractions :)

Ops is also used as a broader term than attractions. Ops includes Main Entrance/Parking, Lifeguards, and Custodial (NOT for CPs, just in general Disney terminology). Attractions is just the rides and slide ops. They are kind if used interchangeably though.
