Thanks Des!
I was perusing the portal tonight and found a room, so we are booked at POR FQ. I was trying to get resorts that others were at too, but couldn't pass up $75 bucks a night and we like FQ anyway!
I have it booked 8/14-21, but may tweak it depending on prices of flights out. I have to be back by the 21st because I have my high school reunion on the 22nd :)

Kallie will be so excited! Not sure if we will keep it secret up until the departure, or break it to her at some point earlier.

It feels so great knowing "I'm going to Disney World" !
I will catch up on reservations and such after the wedding!

Awesome...so glad you are going to make it!

Hi all!

Ok..Ohana is reserved but I am still waiting to hear on 1900 Park Faire...they made me leave a message with the restaurant.

Ohana was available for 6:30...I know Wishes isn't until 10PM but hopefully that will work.

I will let you know as soon as possible about 1900 Park Faire.

:worship::worship: Thank you so much for calling, Des! And, thanks Roger letting us use your reservation number. I was really nervous my check in date was too close to the date we wanted to reserve.

The early bird.......

Glad you can make it! I love POFQ! One of my favoritie resorts with the theme, not huge so everything's close, pool is great, plus beignets! DD & I made a special trip over on one of our trips just to get beignets. Yummo!

Is there a particular page that has everybody's plans and dining reservations on? I'm at work and can't concentrate anyway, with all the final wedding details, so figured I would do some vacation plans ;)

Are they just blowing you off or have you talked to someone and are wiaitng for a definate answer?

I know I called Ohana three times with some general questions about booking if I ended up with more than 31 people (group dining said I would then have to go thru Ohana direct) and they never called me back. Maybe you could try DVC Member Services and see if they will help :confused3. That was my back plan if I needed to call them and couldn't get any help.

Ok...here is where we are....group dining can not make the 1900 ressie...they reached a supervisor who informed them they do not know why I called back..they have 72 hours to let me know if I can have the group ressie (their vmail and CM keep saying there will be a cb in 2 hours) so..I will need to wait until Sunday to see if we have the ressie. I will prob check back tomorrow and see if they have a status update..I can't believe it takes that long to decide if we will fit or not :headache:

What a PITA, Des. It is very frustrating that they treat our vacations that we scrimp and save for with such indifference . Hopefully everything works out in our favor.

OK - some interesting conversations going on about the new On-line ADR System about to be open to the general public.....

(FYI - IMACM appears to be a seasoned Disney Dining CM. He/She has always been a super helpful poster on the restaurant board. Since they are a current CM posting on a public forum, sometimes you need to read between the lines ;) )

Thats ok...MA told me about the online ressies for TA's only..I was so excited! I tried to get on to book your ADRs last night..it let me do one and then no others (as you saw your confirmation prob in your email) Then it kicked me to the curb...LOL....I got up and booked everything no problem until I got to 1900...then I was transferred all over....everyone kept saying...1 hour...it was like a broken record...anyways..I will call again tomorrow...no big deal. The nice thing was being able to use your ressie was that we got to book Ohana, Prime Time and Boma.

I appreciate it! The problem now is when you go into the online ADR..it still only lets you book the 90 days...not the +10.

Have a great night!

Not sure if we're arriving on the 16th or not yet, but if we do we might. Oh & we never do the package anymore. We found we get better seats without. Of course that was before they cut down the amount of nights they show it, but we'll take our chances.

OK, let me know. I agree, better seats and I don't like that they make you have dinner at 4PM.

The last time we did Ohana with a group of about 30 people, we were there for nearly 3 hours. And, surprisingly, the servers were fantastic and didn't rush us at all. We stopped at the gift shop to pick up some wine colers and then just hung out on the beach until Wishes started.

Like Tom said, since we're DVC members, we can pool hop at the Poly. We may pack some bathing suits for the kids that night. Maybe even my Speedo and bling!:scared1:

Thursday is the water park..unfortunately I just got off of the phone with the 1900 CM..he put us at a 4:30 ressie...need plan B..I need to get 3 of us to book 1900 for 10 guests each for that night....I wont cancel our ressie just yet..just in case...

I need people's thoughts - I do not think enough of us can book 1900 tomorrow...I think it will take a couple of days...the time isn't so bad except that to get from the water park to dinner is the tough part.

What is everyone's thoughts? Even if we book 3 groups - no gty that we will sit together or nea each other..do we want to:

1. Go to the waterpark on Wednesday (and I know this affects people's plans)
and keep the 4:30 at 1900 on Thursday

2. Try and see if in the next couple of days we can get 3 7:00 ressies from people and hope for the best

3 . Cancel 1900 and just do our own thing

Let me know....sorry for the trouble...I guess they just don't like groups :confused3

Or if someone else wants to try and book a group for us using their ressie # (they know me know) for &PM...that would be great as well.

Wow where is the Disney Magic???? I would like to be included in the BOMA since I have never been and I think the 1900 first if we can get it. If everyone is going to Ohana for a get together and we can't get 1900 count me in. I am thinking of the water park. Prob not, but I am still deliberating. Let me know what happens with the ressies.

By the way, Stephanie posted on FB that her dad had 5 bypasses and was in recovery.

Prayers for you and your family, Steph . Post an update when you can.

So sorry to hear this news! Sending Steph my best!

Thanks for letting us know June!

Thanks everyone....This has been a horrible couple of weeks. My brother ended up in the hospital for 2 wks (the lung infection thing that they now are telling him *might be cancer*) UGH! He still is too weak to do much but, sit around.... :sad2:

Then my dad calls to tell me *I'm in the hospital and I need to have bypass surgery* Up until that day he had never had a health problem - 70 and he was on no meds at all!....in July he moved from just in the next city (Arlington/30mins away and near where I go several times a week with the kids...) to NINE hours south of us.....for NO reason other then *I like it down there*.
I was finally able to fly down last weekend and I got home yesterday afternoon. My dad can't drive or do anything (lifting nothing heavier then 5lbs....) for at least 4 - 6 more weeks.

Greg REALLY wants to go down and stay with Dad for a week or so and then drive dad up here for me. I told Greg that he has to feel better first so, that I don't have to make an emergency trip down there to help them BOTH! :rotfl2:

I like to know what is going on and to be able to formulate a plan....so, this is driving me crazy! LOL!

Oh, and my dad is still insisting on making it to Chicago the last weekend in June for the famiy reunion..... His original plan was to drive up there and back BUT, he won't even be cleared for driving by then (or if he is it will only be within the week of the reunion).

I've appreciated every single prayer -- I KNOW that is the only thing that is helping me through this...

Sorry, wasn't around last night and didn't see this until a few minutes ago. I was able to make a reservation for 1900 Park Fare for 10 Adults for 8/20 -7:30PM. Hope that helps some.

My thoughts:

1. We wouldn't be able to do Wednesday so if that is what the group decides you would need to take us off the list.

2. So, now we have two tables of 10? 7:25 & 7:30

3. I would be up for that too.

Did you mean call 1900 for a group ressie? I'll give it a shot, but I need the booking info.

Hi there!

Hi Everyone!

We have survived yet another Plant Sale yesterday, so I will hopefully be around a little more now. We also had our last choir concert until next fall last nght (yes AFTER a full day of Plant Sale!) so that is off the schedule for the summer. I still get to cart Darrah around to step-dance, fiddle lessons, and karate - but his school orchestra is finished for the year too!

1. I'm afraid that wouldn't work for us at all. We won't get to WDW until Wednesday evening.

2. This would be OK with us - It might be possible to talk to 1900 right before hand and ask them to seat the groups near each other.

3. We could try the "do our own thing". One idea would be to car-pool everyone over to a resort with a good food court - Dixie Landing (Riverside) has a good one. I assume that Carribean Beach probably has one too. Another method would be to all bring our own "take-out" (some sort of counter service) to a single location. Maybe the beach by the lake at Beach club? (are there any tables there?) Those of us with cars might need to help a few DISers who aren't staying at BC get there and back to other resorts.

Disney has NEVER really liked big groups! Way back before the DIS, we were very involved in a Disney group on Compuserve (it may even have been the 1st group to do "meets" at WDW) It was ALWAYS a problem trying to deal with Disney for things like a group dinner. They never wanted to work with groups bigger than 8-10 people.

Well thanks very much to Des & Mary Ann we did end up getting 2 large reservations for after 7pm at 1900. Thanks to Mike also who tried like hell to get us a reservation, but there was nothing available except around 6pm. It worked out because Mary Ann was able to add a few to hers so anybody that sent a PM to Des that they wanted to be included should be & hopefully we can sit near each other. :thumbsup2

Of course we could always plan on some snacks or order some pizzas around the quiet pool or beach at BCV? We should be hanging there just about every night & for anyone not staying there you just need to say you're visiting one of us & they'll let you park no problem or you could take a bus to DHS & take the boat over.

Des not to give you more work, but maybe we could put together an itinerary for group activities on the first page? I know not everyone is doing everything, but the Illuminations dinner, Ohana, 1900, water park, etc. that was open to everyone? I'm a little unclear is to what day is what myself at this point, but I'd gladly type something up myself as long as I have the correct day & times. :goodvibes

Can't wait to see everyone! :cool1:

Doesn't matter....Des had 23 people signed up. She made an ADR for 10 and I made an ADR for 13 and we get there early and try to be seated as close together as possible. We'll figure out the seating when we get there, however it fits :confused3

If you signed up for Ohana (see post #471) it is Dinner at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, 8/18. If you signed up for 1900 Park Fare with Des, that is for Thursday 8/20 @ 7:25 & 7:35 - we should get there early and try to be seated together.

If you signed up and are not going to make it please let someone know so that we can adjust the reservation :thumbsup2

Those that signed up for 1900..i sent you a message on FB...we willbe meeting at 1900 at 7PM on the 20th. Thanks to everyone who helped on this...it has been a pain but we have it figured out!

I just got home from a really long weekend....I will put together an itenerary in the next couple of days. I think the only thing we really arent doing is getting together (planned) at a park other then the water park.

We have no plans scheduled for Wed or Fri evenings so those are still open.

We will be atthe new Kidani Village on Sat and Sunday evenings...We should get there about 2ish on Sat..we have dinner ressies that evening but anyone who wants to see them are welcome to come by between 3-5:30.

Talk to everyone soon. Thank you again..this is such an awesome group!

Just catching up. I'm in the 4th week of my 5 week long visit up North. This week I'm in Connecticut. Then one more week in PA for DGD's recital and then finally home to FL. Looks like they finally got some much needed rain the last few days. DH reports 7 inches in the last four days. It's about time.

Sounds like everyone is busy with plans. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in August. It's been a busy year. Brought a lot of our REPO pictures up to show family and had a great time reliving the trip.

We are really going thru DCL withdrawal. But with the economy we are going to have to be giving some of our business to it's competition. The girls and I are going on RCCL's Freedom of the Seas in October. This will be our first time on RCCL. I haven't had any time with just the two girls in over ten years. We are looking forward to a week of relaxing with no hectic schedule of must do's. It's a fund raising cruise for my homeowner's assn charitable foundation and the price was too good to pass up. The girls had been planning a long food & wine weekend for the same time so everything fell into place. Of course, DD is selling the trip to her DH as a "fact-finding" mission so that she can check out the kids programs to see if we would want to book a trip for the whole crew. You know she wouldn't think about taking the kids on a cruise if she hadn't checked out the program. Yeah right! Well it sounds good anyway. This will be the first time he's alone with both kids by himself. Should be interesting. Has anyone sailed on FOS?

Has any decision been made on the water park day or which water park?

Hope everyone has a safe Memorial Day.

We are going to be there in August (Monday to Thursday). Dave has to work Friday so we'll be heading out late on Thursday. Maybe we can get together for lunch.

I'm looking forward to the cruise in October, although I don't expect RCCL will be DCL, it should be fun just relaxing with the girls. We are looking into a holiday cruise for the whole family for December 2010 and both RCCL and Carnival have options. Now that the grand kids are getting to school age we are going to be limited more to vacation times and you know about DCL and holiday cruises. I checked on DCL for that time and there's no way we can afford it.

Can't wait to get home next week. I need a Disney fix. Have to hit Star Wars Weekend. It will be the first one that Heather is missing. She doesn't get to FL until June 17th this year.

****Price Increase at 'Ohana*****

They have just increased the price of 'Ohana. It was $26.99 for adults, $10.99 for children.

Now the prices listed are $30.99 and $14.99.

Is everyone who signed up for the group dinner still interested?

C&P from another thread.....

"During seasons of high demand, Disney raises the prices at most of the prix fixe restaurants.

Below are the restaurants and dates when you can expect to pay more. On average, it's $4.00 more per person ages 10 and up, $2.00 more per child ages 3 -9.

December 16, 2008 - January 3, 2009
April 5 - April 18, 2009
May 24 - July 11, 2009
Restaurants:

1900 Park Fare
Akershus
Biergarten
Boma
Cape May Cafe
Chef Mickey's
Cinderella's Royal Table
Crystal Palace
Garden Grill
Hollywood and Vine
Liberty Tree Tavern (dinner)
Ohana
Trails End
Tusker House

I tried to find out if this was a "seasonal upcharge" or a price increase and really couldn't get an answer.

I checked 1900 Park Fare and so far it does not show a price increase but I'll keep an eye on it

Thanks!

We usually watch Wishes on Main Street about even with the info board (just passed where the shops end). As far as Illuminations, you just need an unobstructed view of the center of the lagoon. Also, remember to check the wind direction. In the humidity the smoke from the fireworks seems to hang much lower and the wind could direct it right at you. When they light the torches watch the direction the flame blows.

Anywhere around the castle hub, as long as there are no trees blocking you is a good place to see Wishes so you can see the show on the castle or further back along Main St. as Barbara said. Our favorite super secret spot...shhhhh is right at the Tommorowland Noodle Station right up front & to the right if you are facing out. If you go about an hour beforehand...there is hardly anyone there & you get to sit at a table while watching Wishes & Tink flies right overhead. ;)

Illuminations...really just about anywhere along the lagoon but front spaces fill up about an hour beforehand. A favorite of ours has always been the Catina in Mexico so we can sit, drink Margaritas & eat Nachos while we watch. Seeing a theme here? But be careful, because Mommies love to throw their kiddies in front of you at the last minute even though you are sitting right at the railing they will somehow try to squeeze them in. Put your foot up to the railing or you will lose your view fast! :sad2:

I like to watch Wishes from the Rose Garden. It's never been crowded over there and we usually don't show up until about 30 minutes prior.

Haven't quite mastered Illuminations viewing. We end up just squeezing in somewhere. I've heard there's a good area over by Germany but haven't made it over to really check it out.

Hey, that's mine too! Since they changed over to Wishes the angle is a little funky, but a great spot that is not crowded. Since they changed the show to Wishes my favorite spot is in front of the flagpole on Main St but it is crowded.

I have never watched Illuminations from a decent spot, except from the pontoon boats. I am really looking forward to seeing them from the private viewing area.

Great minds & all that...don't ya know? :snooty: You're right, the angle is a bit off since the fireworks look to be to the right of the castle.

Chuckle for the day......

I hired College Paint Works to power wash my house back in April. After many phone calls I finally got them to give me a date when they where coming to do it.

They showed up this morning to power wash my house.

I have a stronger power washer in my shed.

It’s very shiny so I think it’s brand new, and judging by the way they were walking around it scratching their chin, I don’t think they have a clue how to use it.

He didn’t bring a long enough ladder to clean my gutters (something Jimmy got them to agree to do) – BTW, the ladder looks brand new too – LOL

They didn’t bring gas to put in the power washer (don’t think they knew it needed gas – LOL) and asked for directions to Home Depot, I assume to buy a gas can.

This should be interesting – I’ll keep you updated……..

OK, after a rocky start, nobody fell to their death today at (insert home address here)..................

I decided to get outta dodge and took the kids down to the park for the morning. When I returned I found the kid on my roof, three stories up, (I'm quite sure it wasn't covered under their COI since there was no safety harness in sight) blowing out the gutters. They were quite proud of themselves that they had figured out a way to stick to the contract without having to return this weekend with a bigger ladder. All the while my neighbor (also my BFF) and I were on the phone debating whether there be an ensuing lawsuit on my hands (what did I know and when did I know it) after they fell from my roof.

Anyhoo, all kidding aside, these two college kids did an awesome job. One side of my house, that never gets the sun, was covered in algae and now is squeaky clean. These guys work for the opportunity to make their resume look better as they enter the work force from college. Kudos to them!

Did ya'll see that the on-line ADR is open to the general public today? If there's anything you haven't booked yet...give it a try! I just added a breakfast just because I could! It's a good excuse to get the clan outta bed & into DHS for park opening. :yay:

Hi everyone!

There is a review on the Dis Unplugged Blog about the Wishes Dessert Party WDW is having during the summer. Since we have never seen Spectromagic or the Wishes fireworks...we booked this for Wednesday night since the group has no plans that night - we figured we were safe with that date.

Just thought I would pass on the info. the cost is 17.99 for Adults and 10.99 for kids ages 10 and under.

Can't believe its coming so quick!

Just back from a couple of days at WDW. I now have a new "best spot" to watch Wishes. We went to a DVC Bay Lake Tower event and saw wishes from the terrace around the Top of the World Lounge at BLT. What a view. The lounge is great and will be open only to DVC members who are staying at BLT on points. Fair warning, don't attend one of these events unless you have strong willpower or are just resigned to adding on some points. The rooms were great and they have added a twin sleep chair to the living room of the 1 bedroom units so that they sleep 5. The decor is modern like the rooms at The Contemporary. There are some units with MK views and they will be playing the Wishes music over the TV so that you can have the full experience from the balconies in those units.

OK back to work. We're back to WDW for a week on the 12th with the whole family. Then they come here for three weeks. Better get my act together because if it doesn't get done before the 12th it won't get done for weeks.

Hope you are all having a great summer and can't wait to catch up in August.

Thanks for the bump....I have found my way back finally!
Kallie & I are coming in on Sunday 8/16 and leaving Friday night 8/21, staying at Port Orleans. She still doesn't know...LOL (her bday is 8/19) Lots of slip ups, so it just goes to show...she doesn't listen to me! Haaaaa
We have absolutely nothing planned...tried to sneak in on a few things but they were booked. No worries....we will just shop or pin trade and grab a bite along the way and meet up with everybody after :)
Who has the excel spreadsheet of what parks on what days? I know there is one floating around somewhere!! lol Also, is the page 1 list of people, dates & hotels correct? Is there a cell phone list to share? I have a few but not all.

We're excited.....well I guess I'm excited for both of us ;)

Hey Jill, we're getting pretty excited here too!

I know Roger had a spreadsheet of his plans, but not sure of one was made that included everyone. I think it was just talked about.

8/17 - Some are doing a GG for Illuminations so we made that an Epcot day.
8/18 - Dinner at Ohana and watching Fireworks from the Poly Beach. Some who are not doing dinner are meeting at the beach for the fireworks. Then after, the plan is to go to JellyRolls
8/20 - Water Park Day (Typhoon Lagoon) I think most, if not all the pirates are going to that one, then dinner at 1900 Park Fare.

There has been talk of meeting at the pools at either BCV or OKW, but nothing set in stone yet.

Greetings from WDW!

We have been here since Saturday and having a great time. The crowds, and the heat, have been building up since Sunday. Even though it has only gone from 91/93 to 97/98 we can really feel the difference. Commando may be the way to pack, folks!

We are at the Wilderness Lodge in a great unit. Asked for a high floor, lake view and that is just what we received. If we lean over the balcony slightly we can see MK fireworks over the lodge roof. We walked down to the beach for the water pageant and it was great.

Even though it is getting crowded we have been able to see everything we want without too much of a wait.

safe travels, everyone!!!!
