So the MIL situation (and I can't make this stuff up....)

After last update, she was transferred to Alzheimers section of a local nursing home where she continuted to have delusions about killing babies and other out there stuff. She's in the nursing home about a week when last Monday (10 days ago) she suffers seizures late in the day and is rushed back to the hospital. My DW is besider herself, but my BIL is there and reports several times on Tuesday that MIL is in one big seizure state, staring at ceiling but body twitching. Given that she doesn't seem to be there at all, DW decides to stay home and let BIL handle. Wednesday DW gets call from BIL, he just left MIL room in hospital. When he and my FIL got there on Wed, she was sitting up in bed, eating (which she hadn't been for 3 weeks), talking and wondering why she was in hospital with no recollection of last two weeks. After considerable conversation, there are no signs of delusions, etc.

Thursday, Friday, she is still lucid and all there (or as much as she was before....). Saturday she is discharged home. Despite the battery of tests, they can't find anything to explain the last few weeks. The theory they ended up on was a bad reaction to the generic of Wellbutrin. Apparently this type of delusional behavior is a rare, but reported side effect. Also, Wellbutrin withdraw may include involuntary twitching, etc. Turns out the Dr. in nursing home has started to discontinue a number of her meds as she was on quite a few from the guesswork of the last two weeks. One he stopped was the Wellbutrin generic.

Of course, can't just end there. On Monday, my BIL goes to house to take FIL to his monthly Dr. visit. While there he picks up phone, its local police, wanting to know the names of the FIL grandchildren. After he gives them the names, they say "what about Christopher XXXXX." BIL replies, "Funny you should ask, he's napping in next room, he's our home health aide (for FIL handicap)." They say thanks and hang up.

Five minutes later, several patrol cars pull in and block driveway and team of officers come to door and arrest the home health aide. Turns out he has been robbing my in-laws blind. Jewelry, clothes (stole my FIL pajamas), etc. etc. He attempted to pawn a ring engraved with my FIL name and the police doing routine pawn shop checks decided to check it out. Apparently the number one culprit in this type of incident is the Grandchildren, hence the questions.

So MIL is home and seems to be better, although she has lost probably 50 pounds in the last three months or so, so she is a little frail right now.

We will see.....

Thanks for all your prayers, wishes and thoughts.:grouphug:

Oh Tom......from past experience......medicine can do strange things to people. I am glad MIL is doing so much better. Please tell Ellen we will continue with good thoughts and prayers.:grouphug: :grouphug:

NOW as for the DGS.....I can't believe how someone could take advantage of his own grandparents.:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I am fairly certain that Richard is capable of handling things.... :rotfl2: You are a control freak and you aren't even a LEO! :lmao: That's why I won't take the sleeping pills the Dr gave me...even though some nights I only *sleep* about 3 hrs.......The funny thing is that Jon is the one that gets up with the kids, NOT me! LOL!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: To relax enough to go to sleep I take a half of a valuim -- and my brother told me that the one I take is the weakest one they make....

I have to be careful...I'm way too inappropriate if I'm too *relaxed*. :rolleyes1

Yes from another control freak to another......I take Xanx 1 mg. to make me relaxed so my Ambien sleeping pill will work. I can be fully awake if need be in less than a minute. I have had to do this several times when an emergency came up after I just tried to knock myself out to sleep.

I am so the control freak! Definitely not a Leo but definitely an Aquarius..although I am on the cusp..I tend to be more Aquarius.

So type A...Richard has learned to live with it. I know he is capable of handling things...now you know why "resting" after surgery was the pits for me!

Stephanie and I think you must be a Leo and mistake was made. LOL;)

Actually Xanax does make me sleepy, but honestly I wake right up when one of the kids asks me something or the flight attendent comes around with drinks & snacks & then I'm back out again. Everyone's different, but Xanax doesn't make me "out of it" just sleepy. When the plane lands, I'm wide awake & raring to go without that woozy feeling that Nyquil can give me. :confused3 I imagine the average person could take one & feel sleepy but still functioning. I'm not average....I have a very high tolerance. I can't imagine why? :rolleyes1 :lmao:

It doesn't even make me sleepy, just takes the edge off.

Those are the dates that we booked. I'm glad that they'll work for you guys. At least for now, we're booked at Old Key West. If we end up not able to move at the 60 day mark, it wouldn't be the worst thing. The rooms there are the biggest, so it would give us all a little more room.

Hey guys! We once again school was cancelled because it was too cold and the field trip is now going to be refunded. It's snowing like crazy here!

I forgot all about calling DVC yesterday! So I just got off the phone and I'm at BWV for sure from 8/16 to 8/22. I'm wait listed for BCV, because they could give me all the nights I wanted except 8/19! So if it's only across the lake that will work. Might still get BCV, who knows.

I called as soon as they opened this morning & I got a 2BR at BCV for the 17th-23rd, but the second bedroom is a studio which means a bed & sofa bed, which I don't want, so I waitlisted for 2 beds in the second BR. I forget what it's called, lock-off? dedicated? It's all confusing to me.

Anyway, Tina BWV was going to be my second choice too. Still very close so not bad, but hopefully your waitlist will come through! :thumbsup2

Congrats! We have a sofa bed and bed in the 2nd room and it is a dedicated room (or lockoff) some have two beds and some have one. We would swap you but we currently have the same thing. I figured it would be nice for Cheryl & john to have a small sofa in thier room if they wanted peace and quiet but didn't want to sit on thier beds.

Glad you got in where you wanted!

Congrats to everyone securing their reservations :cool1: August will be here before you know it.

I called about making reservations for large groups (custom events) and the only reservation they could handle that could accomodate a group this large is the wine room at Jiko :confused3 , so it looks like our only option for 'Ohana is group dining at the 90 day mark. I got a direct number (I think :scratchin ) to group dining and will call 7AM at the 90 day mark and hope for the best. The guy at custom events said that due to 'OHana's set up it is the best restaurant to handle large group reservations.

So, I guess the question is, what day were we thinking for going? Right now my schedule is blank, so whatever is best for the group as a whole is cool with me. I would like to plan the time so that we can watch the fireworks on the beach after (with Lapu Lapu in hand) dinner.

One other thought for group dining..... kinda "not Disney"

Don't some of the DVCs have barbeque grills at the quiet pools? Maybe get a crowd together at the quiet pool at Boardwalk or something and do burgers/dogs, etc.

Disney's Boardwalk Villas
Barbecue Grill
Cook your own specialties at the grill located near Community Hall, available on a first-come, first-served basis. (http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/guest/resorts/resortDetail?id=ProspectsBoardwalkVillasResortDini ngPage&bhcp=1)

Disney's Old Key West
Barbecue Grills
Cook your own specialties at one of the grills located throughout the resort, available on a first-come, first-served basis. (http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/guest/resorts/resortDetail?id=ProspectsOldKeyWestResortDiningPag e)

I am currently getting a roll call together on the first post...just waiting for everyone to secure their final dates and locations. So far..it seems like the best night for a group dinner would be Tuesday or Wednesday as we have some people coming on Monday and some going home Thursday (or maybe Friday).

We also need to pick a CastaWay Cay day for the water park...I would vote for a day different then the group dinner.

Just my thoughts...

Here are some pics of Tori's birthday party. Her official birthday is actually he 29th but her party was yesterday. We took 9 girls to lunch and a movie. We had the party room at the movie theater. Tori's theme was "puppy" and the movie was Hotel for Dogs. The party also included a tour of the projection room in the theater.

BTW, how is your brother doing? :flower3:

He is doing really well right now!!!! I told him I hate to get too excited since his last chemo is this Tuesday/Wednesday (his is a 2 day treatment) and the last 4 treatments he ended up in the hospital 8 days later..........

Today I took him out -- we spent a couple of hours at the *Home & Garden* show. It was slow going -- a few steps and then he had to rest, etc.... He used a cane and we brought along his oxygen...... I dropped him off at the door of the convention center and then when we left I picked him up at the door.
So, he had to walk as little as possible. :)
He was going stir crazy since he had only been to the Dr's office, hospital, his house & my house in at last a month but, I'm thinking it's been longer!

Hi MaryAnn!

Hope you're staying warm up there.

Thanks for putting this together. Does group dining make you wait until 90 days, or can you do it at the 180 day mark?

Hey Mike :wave2:

Yes, group dining makes you wait. Believe me I tried a few angles. ;) The only way you could make reservations at 'OHana at the 180 day mark is if you were going through Grand Gatherings and you had less than 13 people participating. Now how they come up with that number is a mystery to me :confused3 . The good news is that nobdy else can make them before 90 days either so I think we have a good chance of getting what we want.

Should we make a second choice just in case? :scratchin

One other thought for group dining..... kinda "not Disney"

Don't some of the DVCs have barbeque grills at the quiet pools? Maybe get a crowd together at the quiet pool at Boardwalk or something and do burgers/dogs, etc.

A DIS Pot Luck Meet. What a great idea, and since we will all have kitchens, very do-able. I'll bring the potato salad :goodvibes (and the rum punch)

Glad to hear he is doing do well. Fingers crossed that he gets through his last treaments without incident. Yahoo :cool1: for being (almost) done with treatments. Hopefully the worst of the side effects quickly go away.

That looks like lots of fun!!! I'm glad she had a good day!!

What are you doing this week for your b-day????

Tonight we are going out for Persian food with my Mom. As for my actual birthday..I know I am going to DL during the day with Tori (we are swapping her school holiday tomorrow for Wednesday off) and then probably just dinner with Richard and Tori...my birthday is usually pretty quiet due to Tori's being a week later. For Tori's we are spending the day at DL with her best friend's family and then on the 31st..it is her best friend's birthday and Tori doesn't know it but we are meeting her friend's family at Medieval Times for a dual birthday celebration!

What a cute cake!!! Did you make it?

I did not..I figured out the design but have a friend who makes cakes for a side business. I figured it was worth the money and the less agrevation on my part to order it from her. She makes great cakes. It is actually a cupcake cake which makes it so much easier on the cleaning up part.

I know you know this feeling ---- today when we were talking he was trying to remember how long after his last chemo (the 1st time he had cancer) it took for him to really feel good. He says *October 23rd was the date of my last chemo.* Ten yrs ago and he still remembers the date of the *last chemo*. .... I know my mom remembers the date of her last chemo & the date of her last radiation treatment.

It all sounds like lots of fun!!! We are going to Medieval Times next Saturday (the 27th). LOL! Obviously, we're going to the one in Dallas.... ;) They are a sponser for the play that Samantha is in and they offered the cast (and friends/family) a really good deal on tickets (under $20 each) and they are letting the cast come early and talk to their cast memebers!

This sounds great Mary Ann :cool1:

I am currently getting a roll call together on the first post...just waiting for everyone to secure their final dates and locations. So far..it seems like the best night for a group dinner would be Tuesday or Wednesday as we have some people coming on Monday and some going home Thursday (or maybe Friday).

We also need to pick a CastaWay Cay day for the water park...I would vote for a day different then the group dinner.

Just my thoughts...

I am signing up with Tour Guide Mike this week so I have a handle on which park/water parks are the best on which days. I will give a full report when I get the information.

Hi everyone!

I was trying to put together everyone's dates...it seems that most will be there from atleast Monday to Friday.

What does everyone think of the following:

Monday - resort hopping - checking out how the other resorts are
Tuesday - Group dinner (Ohana has been suggested)
**Maybe a day together in one of the parks?
Wednesday - Water Park - Castaway Cay
Thursday - Group dinner (maybe a BBQ) or Illuminations group viewing
**Maybe a day in the park together

Let me know your thoughts. I would like to figure out the days so some people can decide when they can be there as well as if anyone wants to make individual ADR next month.

Looks good to me Des except just a suggestion but maybe we could do the BQ Tuesday & Ohana on Thursday? Only because the groceries & cake I buy Monday will still be nice & fresh & we are getting rid of the car after that so won't be able to go again. :drive: Of course I could just get paper goods, soda & hot dogs (since they last till the next ice age) if people would prefer Thursday. ::yes::

Also perhaps we could hit Jellyrolls after the BQ since we're thinking of doing it at the quiet pool at BW anyway & it's right there. :hyper:

Is it some place the kids can go with us? Or do we need to solicit the older teens for babysitting duty???

It's a Dueling Pianos entertainment bar for adults only - one of the few "clubs" left on WDW property. They are very talented musicians.

Got a million things to do today, but caught myself a nasty head cold, so I'll just veg out in front of the computer instead. Considering I have been exposed to the croup (sp?), strep throat and other random booga cooties in the past few weeks I feel fortunate not to have picked up something worse :goodvibes .

SO, let's talk food........

What restaurants are you thinking about for ADR's?

I know I need to narrow it down, but then again maybe not :rotfl2: -

Hoop-de-Do -it's a tradition. We took our first trip to WDW for our honeymoon back in 1992 and this is where we ate our first night. Wore our flashing "honeymoon heart" buttons and everything  . Ever since it is always the first dinner of our vacation.

Flying Fish - Best steak I have EVER had and we have gone to some of the best steak houses. The way they cook it (char it) makes it the best :thumbsup2

1900 Park Fare - They have the ugly step sisters and they are a hoot. The buffet is one of the better ones in WDW, not that that is saying much, but it is the characters that make this a favorite of ours.

SciFi Drive In - every trip we try one new place. Last trip it was 50's Prime Time and I thought is was just OK. This will be the one for this trip, although it will probably be lunch instead of dinner. Has anyone been here?

Fulton's Crab House - Just as Hoop-de-Do is a first day dinner tradition, having Alaskan King Crab Claws for our first lunch while we kill time waiting for check-in is another tradition.

Benihanna's - not really WDW, but is a short walk from the DTD bus stop. This is DD's favorite. I know they have something like this in Japan at Epcot, but I have been here a dozen times and have always had a fantastic meal. I could make an entire meal out of their chicken fried rice that they make right in front of you.

'OHana - not really sure why, but this place gets some bad reviews. I have always had excellent food here and plenty of it. I make the 'Ohana potatoes at home and the bread pudding is to die for!!!

Wolfgang Puck Express - this place is a hidden gem. The food here is amazingly fresh and good selection for a counter service place.

Columbia Harbor House - I am a tuna snob (nothing but Trader Joe's served here) :snooty: and this place has the best tuna sandwich I have ever had outside of my own homemade. The only bummer is they did away with the soup and half sandwich:confused3 .

I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks of as a "must" at WDW restaurnats

Did it once & the kids loved it, but they weren't thrilled with the food. I'd like to do it again some time but not this coming trip.

Flying Fish - Best steak I have EVER had and we have gone to some of the best steak houses. The way they cook it (char it) makes it the best :thumbsup2

Never eaten there, because we always go to California Grill & Mike has the filet at CG so he probably wouldn't want it again & not a fish eater.

1900 Park Fare - They have the ugly step sisters and they are a hoot. The buffet is one of the better ones in WDW, not that that is saying much, but it is the characters that make this a favorite of ours.

Ate there last trip so will skip it this coming trip. I agree...best buffet! Love love love the bread pudding & step sisters are a riot!

SciFi Drive In - every trip we try one new place. Last trip it was 50's Prime Time and I thought is was just OK. This will be the one for this trip, although it will probably be lunch instead of dinner. Has anyone been here?

Ate there once & we were NOT impressed. We couldn't "see" our food & that just creeps me out & we also got the ribs, which in hindsight not the best choice as they were chewy. Will probably try again sometime, maybe for lunch. Heard the burgers were good? But then again we love 50's Prime Time so everyone's different.

Fulton's Crab House - Just as Hoop-de-Do is a first day dinner tradition, having Alaskan King Crab Claws for our first lunch while we kill time waiting for check-in is another tradition.

Again we ate here "once" but it WAS good. Mike was surprised how much he liked it, not being a seafood lover & all.

We ate at a Benihannas in Key West once which was awesome, but we are big Japanese steak house eaters so we always enjoy a good hibachi meal. Have always thought of going over to Benihanas but never made the trip. I do LOVE when Japaneses steak houses offer the fried rice & Teppan Edo doesn't, but it's still good.

'OHana - not really sure why, but this place gets some bad reviews. I have always had excellent food here and plenty of it. I make the 'Ohana potatoes at home and the bread pudding is to die for!!!

You know they don't have the potatoes anymore...right? Noodles now & I heard they were tasteless. I'm still looking forward to trying their potstickers (which they now offer) & the bread pudding is "to die for!!!"

Wolfgang Puck Express - this place is a hidden gem. The food here is amazingly fresh and good selection for a counter service place.

Almost always stop here, but not sure about this trip.

Columbia Harbor House - I am a tuna snob (nothing but Trader Joe's served here) :snooty: and this place has the best tuna sandwich I have ever had outside of my own homemade. The only bummer is they did away with the soup and half sandwich:confused3 .

We do like it here but I never had the tuna, but have heard great things about it so maybe this trip I will.

I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks of as a "must" at WDW restaurnats

Like your traditions, California Grill has become a tradition for us. We just love it there & we always plan around the fireworks so we can go out on the observation deck to view them. I love their shrimp tempura sushi & Mike as I said, loves their filet.

Ohana of course, since we didn't eat there last trip & like I said, looking forward to trying the potstickers & the wonderful company of course.

Maybe the Illuminations dinner & dessert, even though it was voted out by this group, we may do it anyway with friends &/or family.

I'd like to try the Cape May Cafe buffet since we WILL be staying at BCV & we've never eaten there because of Mike's aversion to seafood (he basically only eats white fish like scrod, haddock, grouper, etc.), but it looks like they have a lot of carniverous options. Oh & a stop at Beaches & Cream & most likely Hurricane Hannahs for a Bahama Mama & some snacks while we're hanging at the pool.

Otherwise, I'm still up in the air about where we'll be eating. Maybe Mama Melrose & LeCellier since we haven't eaten at either in a while & we do like them. Hmmmm decisions decisions.

Oh I also always wanted to try Blue Zoo & get the "Two-pound Maine "Cantonese" Lobster, fried and tossed in sticky soy glaze $60" but that's a little pricey & they don't accept the TIW card so someday but again not this trip.

Oh (I keep thinking of things) we also almost always hit ESPN & we'll be right there so might try to catch a Red Sox game & have some drinks & wings!

We ate there on our honeymoon and anniversary..I didn't care for it either time but then again..i am not a seafood person.

1900 Park Fare - They have the ugly step sisters and they are a hoot. The buffet is one of the better ones in WDW, not that that is saying much, but it is the characters that make this a favorite of ours.

We ate there last year..loved the strawberry soup...and the sister are a blast..good food and would do again.

SciFi Drive In - every trip we try one new place. Last trip it was 50's Prime Time and I thought is was just OK. This will be the one for this trip, although it will probably be lunch instead of dinner. Has anyone been here?

We love it there but I think it's more the atmosphere then the food...we usually go for lunch. I think it's fun. 50's Prime Time - same thing..more the stmosphere then the food..we go every visit.

Fulton's Crab House - Just as Hoop-de-Do is a first day dinner tradition, having Alaskan King Crab Claws for our first lunch while we kill time waiting for check-in is another tradition.

Love it there but do not think we are going this time.

We love Benihana's - we have one very close to us here and go quite often - never gone in Florida since we go here - but great food!

'OHana - not really sure why, but this place gets some bad reviews. I have always had excellent food here and plenty of it. I make the 'Ohana potatoes at home and the bread pudding is to die for!!!

Never eaten there and not thrilled with the menu but I know the group is considering so i will go with the group.

Wolfgang Puck Express - this place is a hidden gem. The food here is amazingly fresh and good selection for a counter service place.

We ate there a year ago.

We usually make sure we go to 50's and Sci Fi but that is because I think they are fun. We don't really have many more "musts" anymore...I have to think where we want to go. We also need to figure out if the group really wants to BBQ or just pick up burgers at a resort and get together.

Well.. only about 9 more months until some of us are able to meet again! This thread is for anyone from our PC Repo cruise who is planning on joining in the fun during the August trip.

It will go quick!

What are some things you would like to do?

Since I'm low carbing it...I would like to eat some carbs on vacation & drink some Bahama Mamas. My vacation revolves around food.

What is your favorite thing to do at WDW? Grab a margarita in Mexico or Grey Goose slushie in France & find a spot to watch Illuminations.

Which water park would be best for our own Castaway Cay? Either water park should work, but we might skip this. We have APs & I don't want to have to buy water park tickets too since I'm not a huge water park fan & our time is limited.

Where are you planing on staying? BCVs...all booked!!! :hyper:

Feel free to throw in ideas for the trip!

If we don't feel like putting a BBQ together, we could always hit ESPN for some apps & drinks before we hit Jellyrolls? They can put a bunch of tables together for us or we could just mingle at the bah?

Roll Call:

A Litle Pixie Dust - August 15th- 22nd - AKL/BCV
Micmse - August 15th - 22nd - AKL/BCV
GoofyontheHiSeas - August 12th-22nd - CBR
CrusinMike - August 15th - 22nd - OKW
Dahuffy - August 15th - 22nd - OKW
Downrivermama - August 16th - 22nd - BCV
Allshookup - August 17 - 23rd - BCV

Thanks Des!!! :goodvibes

If we do decide to go to Jellyrolls, here's a link to some great suggestions:

http://www.jellyrolls.us/jellyrollstips

There is a thread on the DVC boards asking who booked BCV for August & there sure is going to be a lot of DIS members the same week we are going!

No, I didn't know they did away with the potatoes...grrrr. Why do they always do stuff like that - makes me crazy. Like I said I make them at home, but they taste much better when someone else makes them. And, I love potstickers too!

Blue Zoo gets really good reviews and I just took a peak at CG's menu and went, "hmmmmm :scratchin :scratchin" .

The steak at FF is a NY Strip - totally different from a filet:teacher: :rolleyes1 :duck:

We usually make sure we go to 50's and Sci Fi but that is because I think they are fun. We don't really have many more "musts" anymore...I have to think where we want to go. We also need to figure out if the group really wants to BBQ or just pick up burgers at a resort and get together.

No Matter, I'm up for anything - I just thought we were kinda kicking ideas around :confused3

I know I loved the potatoes too & I'm disappointed they are gone!

The food at CG is wonderful & the are very accomodating with substitions or changes & view is beautiful! We just love it there!

:rotfl2: True but CG is usually our only "signature" dining for the week, and we'll already have 2 if we do decide to do the GG dinner so Mike would give me a hard time if I suggested a 3rd at FF & he will complain that he's having to order steak again regardless of the cut. But I do really want to try the peanut butter chocolate bread pudding. ::yes:: Maybe I'll show him the menu & see if there's something else he might like to try. :scratchin

No Matter, I'm up for anything - I just thought we were kinda kicking ideas around :confused3

I forgot to say earlier....sorry you're not feeling well!

Just ate at LeCellier and 1900 Park Fare a couple of weeks ago. LeCellier is one of the hardest reservations to get. You usually have to call in the first hour the date is open to get it. You can make the reservation 90 days from your check in date. The grandkids loved 1900 Park Fare and the step sisters made a big fuss over 3 year old Colin since he insisted on wearing a "Prince" costume since his sister wears her Cinderella costume. So you know what Grandmon was busy doing before they got to Florida. But the best part was when Prince Charming danced with our 6 year old granddaughter, it just made the trip even more magical for Julia. We all like the buffet. But, we are pretty easy to please. The sliced prime rib was really good.

Dave and I will be there 8/17 thru late 8/19. We are at BCV. I was glad to see that the plans for the water park will fit in with our dates. We will probably have to pass on O'Hana since we have a week of dinners to save for in July with the family.

We will have our van so can help with any trips to the grocery store Monday thru Wednesday.

We're open to just about anything Des. I know that Kev wants to have dinner at Cinderella's Table again.

It's a Dueling Pianos entertainment bar for adults only - one of the few "clubs" left on WDW property. They are very talented musicians.

In the past I have actually traveled from Boston for JellyRolls DIS Meets, they are that much fun!

Sounds fun. Wonder if there's a drink minimum.

How is he doing, Steph?

:wave2:

Had to go to the ER last night. :sad2: BUT, he told me earlier that the dr is going to release him tomorrow since his blood counts are good. He has an infection of some sort.

Got a million things to do today, but caught myself a nasty head cold, so I'll just veg out in front of the computer instead. Considering I have been exposed to the croup (sp?), strep throat and other random booga cooties in the past few weeks I feel fortunate not to have picked up something worse :goodvibes .

I am really sorry you're not feeling well!!

We always eat at the resturant in Epcot's Japan...I'll post someof our pics in the next post.

How cool!!!! I will NEVER forget the first time we ate dinner there....Claire (7) was 4. When Prince Charming came to our table she whispers to me *He makes so nervous* and then did a little giggle. :goodvibes She has always believed that she really IS Cinderella.

So true about LeCellier and trying to get reservations. And, even when you do get in at the 90 day mark, first thing AM it's sometimes difficult to get a 6-8pm reservation. I think it is the best TS restaurant in Epcot. We are going to pass on it this time.

Sounds fun. Wonder if there's a drink minimum.

So much for the crowds clearing out for that week :faint: . Makes calling at the 90 day mark for all your ADR's all the more important. Those that have done this before are savy enough to know you can't wait even an extra day to make the ADR's you are really set on.

Only if someone was actually paying cash at a DVC resort could they take advantage of the free dining plan, because it's a package deal including resort room, dining & at least a 1 day park ticket. Otherwise, unfortunately no, anyone staying on points or trading in cannot get free dining.

Just an FYI...in chat one night there was a consensus that planning a Magical Gathering would be expensive, confusing, etc. to try & get everyone involved, so it was decided that as a whole group we would not set one up. However, I was sent a couple of PMs by a few that were still very interested in doing the Illuminations Dinner & Dessert Party, so I did contact Member Services regarding a Magical Gathering & they responded with the number. Since this event is not a whole group thing, I will not be posting the info here, but if anyone wants to attend the Grand Gathering Illuminations Dessert Party, you are of course most welcome. Just PM me & I'll give you all the info. :goodvibes

Just PM me & I'll give you all the info. :goodvibes

Thanks for arranging this, Diane. We are definately in :thumbsup2 . It is expensive, but for dinner, dessert and drinks along with private veiwing of Illuminations, I'm going to bite the bullet :thumbsup2

GREAT NEWS about your brother :cool1: . I am so glad he is on the mend!!!

Elvis was supposed to be a little inside reference to Allshookup, but I don't think even she got it. Don't you hate when a joke totally misses

Aw Steph I am so glad to hear the news! Yeah!!!! :cheer2:

Ha I DID get it! As soon as I saw it I chuckled but I just never mentioned it. Sawy! You are wicked funny! :p

Thank you both. He is still very weak. He couldn't make it, yesterday, to see Samantha's (17dd) play. He told me he had to rest after emptying out the dishwasher. :sad2:

Hey thanks! Didn't mean to be whinny. Major bad development at work. Praying for an early out offer or winning the lottery!

I'm sorry to hear this! If I win the Lottery I'll share.

I didn't think you were being whiny at all, but sorry things aren't going well at work. I hope things start looking up soon. If I lived closer to you, I'd bring you a bottle of wine. You can't whine when you're drinking wine! :p

Y'all are my kind of friends!!! Jon bought several more bottles a coupleof weeks ago. I don't know what he is saving them for! LOL!!! Maybe whenhe gets home (he's in Germany) Tuesday night I'll have one opened....

1.) The tornadoes that came through OKCity today were not near us.

2.) The results of my recent Stress Test are back and it's not good. It came back Abnormal and I'm now scheduled for my 3rd heart surgery. He won't know until he gets in there if I'll need a 3rd stent or not. Also,no lifting or squatting for 6 weeks!

Dave and I spent yesterday at WDW celebrating his birthday. He got his $75 gift card since we have annuals.

We checked out the new American Idol Experience. It is so well done, we thoroughly enjoyed it. When they did Millionaire there it was a duplicate of the actual set in New York (except in NY there were 200 in the audience and in WDW there were 600), so when they interviewed past Idol contestants who mentioned how realistic it seemed I could really believe it. The three contestants we saw were really talented. The winner of each of the day's 7 shows compete in the final show of the day for a "golden ticket" or as they called it the ultimate fast pass, which gives the winner an automatic path to the front of the line in any real Idol future audition anywhere in the US.

DCL withdrawal is really hitting hard here. But, with the economy it's going to be quite a few years until we set foot on another cruise. Right now we are aiming for 2011. We are so lucky that we live close to WDW and can get a quick day in to help bridge the gap.

Our oldest DD and her family are coming down on the 25th for a long weekend for ESPN The Weekend. I can't wait to see the little ones running around MGM in their baseball and football shirts. Last year all six of them had Eagles jerseys on and the the ESPN camera man took a shot of them all lined up from Dave down to the youngest who was 2 and they showed it up on the screen in front of the hat. They can't wait to show off their World Series shirts this year.

Good thoughts to all.

Good afternoon -- just trying to get back to some sort of order here. Had four great days at WDW for ESPN The Weekend. The kids loved it, so many Philly players there. It was like a 2nd Phillies World Series celebration. The four day trip turned into a six day one since their flight home on Monday was cancelled and they spent a couple of days here. So now I just have to turn the house back into home from Hotel Grandmom. It was nice to have a couple of unplanned days with the grandkids.

Hope everyone in the storm areas are finally digging out. I use to love to sit at home and watch the snow come down it always looked so beautiful but then hated it if I had to travel out of the house.

Do we have a day scheduled for the water park reunion yet? We have to renew our annuals in May and just have to decide if we want to do the add on or upgrade to the premium. The last I heard they were thinking of doing the water park on Wednesday, August 19th.

OK, back to work!

We did have a great visit. There were Philly sports fans all over the Studios for ESPN The Weekend. Westbrook was there for the Eagles and too many Phillies for me to remember. Hope the mess up there is all cleared up before I head into town on the 17th. Dave spent over 30 years traveling those streets for PECO and he still remember the nightmare of trying to travel around DelCo in the snow. I am not looking forward to the cold so I'm hoping your going to have a warming trend. March sure roared in like a lion and now I'm hoping it will be ending like the proverbial lamb. I'm looking forward to be able to get in the car to get a cheesesteak or a hoagie. I really miss those.

There are mixed reveiws on this restaurant. I have eaten here twice - once with a small group and once with a large group and I have had good food & service both times, however the whole experience was so much more fun with the large group.

Lastly, I will be calling in at the 90 day mark at 7AM just like everyone else so there is NO GUARANTEE I will be able to secure this reservation. I would suggest that you make a reservation for that evening at a restaurant of your choice at your 90 day mark "just in case" this falls thru. I will post immediately on this thread if I was successful or not. You can always cancel it later, but we are going during free dining so everyone "in the know" will be calling at their 90+10 day mark. Ressies at ANY restaurant are going to be hard to get very quickly.

I think that's all :scratchin . Please post or PM me with your party information if you are interested.

Cheryl I understand that it may not seem worth it if John doesn't eat meat, but just an FYI, that they will go out of their way to make something special for him.

I'm copying this from a post from someone that ordered a vegetarian meal at 'Ohana & this person also ate the grilled shrimp that was brought around.

"She was brought a lovely dish of rice, vegetables and tofu in a very nice dark soy based sauce. She said it was very good.

With the nice salad, appetizers and for her the shrimp, she says she was stuffed to the gills!"

Just something to consider!

I have been trying my darndest to find some reasonable airfare...next to impossible from OKC. I did however check into going from Dallas/Ft.Worth and I was able to find it at less than $200.00 a piece, that's more than half of what it would cost from here!! Here's the favor that I need.....we would like to do what we did for the TOAL,drive to DFW area and leave our car in someone's driveway for the week that we're all together. Since I don't thaink that Coral and her family are going, I need to find somebody else that lives in the general area. I seem to remember that we have another family that lives in TX. SW doesn't fly to Orlando from Dallas --- it has to do with some weird competing airport thing. SW flies out of Love Field, I think now they fly some out of DFW.

SW actually doesn't fly anywhere out of Dallas that is fun! LOL! EVERYTHING is a connectling flight onSW out of Dallas.

FYI - Free dinning will be offered while we are there. The dates are Aug 16-Oct 3. Disney Visa holders can book starting today.

I know most of you are staying in DVC so you can't get it. But if there's anyone not staying DVC, you might want to look into it.

I'm still trying to get a trade into DVC, but I'm going to book a room at a value resort with dining just as a back up. Then I'm not entirely sure we'll make it. I need to find out about football tryouts in the fall. Trevoy would kill me if he missed tryouts.

Actually, on a serious note....

If anyone that is participating in 'Ohana has any special dietary requirements I would note that on our reservation.

I found this blog about the chef at 'Ohana and how he is the "go to" chef at WDW with special dietary needs questions. It was posted that you can call him directly at 'Ohana with your needs.http://veganindisney.wordpress.com/2009/03/03/disneys-hidden-gem-chef-tj-at-ohana/#comments

On a another note, does anyone know anything about IPO (Itinerary Planning Office)? The reason I ask is because there are posts poping up, here and there, on the restaurant board that this "office" is able to get ADR's at the 90 day mark with ease. However, the tone on the board is that people are being a bit tight-lipped about exactly what this is. I've done some searching around and can't find anything on the net and the DIS search function was taken away with the "upgrade" last week :headache:. I think with the nigtmare that is going on with the ADR System right now people are afraid to let the cat outta the bag.

The people that get ressies for concierge guests. After you send in your requests to them (I send mine at least a couple of weeks before the 1st day available to book so, they are ready to book as soon as they can) they book when bookings open and then they email you the itenerary.

Congratualtions!!! You are in for a great ride. Grandkids are the reward for surviving parenthood.

Just back from two weeks up North with the girls and grandkids. Had a great time, now need a serious rest. Three and six are active ages and they kept me hopping. Went to a dance event with the 6 year old. She was the "plate" in Be Our Guest. The costume was made out of a hula hoop with a cut out for her face and then only her legs showing on the bottom. Couldn't take pictures there but did snap one of her at home after and as soon as I get this photo bucket set up will post it.

Can't wait to see everyone in August. Was able to add another night to our trip so we will be there Monday thru Thursday so that we will be able to do the water park day. Is it going to be Typhoon Lagoon or BBeach? They both have the lazy river which is just my speed but I do like the swells at Typhoon Lagoon.

I think its going to be a more "adult" trip as the lease in LA begins January 1 and the Wonder is scheduled for a December 23 (Roger's Birthday) 7 night Western and a December 30 Eastern (the Magic is doing 10+ night cruises then). That would mean its out on cruises till January 6. So unless one of the new ships is in service early to take these cruises, the earliest any repo would leave is January 6, although I wonder if the Wonder will go to Virginia first for a dry dock and do a February repo?

It would make sense for them to put it into dry dock before relocating it. If it is like the Magic the ship -- especially the cabins -- are showing a little wear and could use a general make over. But, I don't think they will do anything until the new ship is delivered. So that could delay the move to LA. Has anyone heard anything about when they expect the first new ship to arrive in Florida?

Happy to report that we now have Plane Tickets! I was able to find the on Travelocity for $179 each and it's non-stop. We will have to drive down to Stephanie's and leave our car at her place, cuz it's about $200 cheaper to fly out of Dallas than OKCity.

Thanks, Steph! Not sure why all the secret squirrel about that :confused3

:dancer:party: Congrats!!!!!! party::dancer:

Everyone knows the first one is always two weeks late.....;)

I don't know why it would be a secret either, MA!!!

DD said that her dh was 3 wks late......Our first was our only child not born early - he was born within 24hrs of his due date.

I bought 3 outfits for the baby this week. I told dd that I would have bought more but, I know her dad wanted to come with me to pick out some and he was in Hong Kong.

Congratualtions!!! You are in for a great ride. Grandkids are the reward for surviving parenthood.

Barbara

We're counting on that, Barbara!!! :goodvibes
And when our last two are teenagers we are hoping the grandkids can distract us! :rotfl2::lmao: Our youngest is only 7!! We're the *old parents*.... :rotfl: DH & I were 17 & 18 when we had our first child (29ds) so, we've been the *young parents*, too. ;)

The local ABC news here in Orlando just reported that DCL is planning to move the Wonder to LA in 2011. They reported that the port of LA still has to agree to the move but I don't think that will be a problem. OK, guess we can look forward to another repo in 2011.

Barbara

Dh & our adult kids have all said that they are in for a Panama Repo. I just realized...they probably think we're paying! :rotfl2:

The "experts" on some of the boards, who claim to "know people" swear its a February 2011 time frame.

 Whatever....... It very well may be February BUT, I no longer even read what the *in the know* people have to say.
One of the guys that was ALWAYS saying he KNEW and had quite a large following on the Dis was SOOOO wrong about this past summer!!!:dance3: And I was even happier because he finally got banned from the Dis! :dance3: He was the guy that harrassed me on the boards and off......He said that DCL was going to Asia....... :rotfl:

I think I'll just take the "wait & see" approach. Meaning I'll wait & see what the rest of my cruise buddies are going to book & then I'll just stalk ya'll! But I tell ya....they better have a fra-eakin' bah open for us to sit at that doesn't involve dance music blasting in my ear. Not that I don't like dance music, but not when I wannna talk! :headache:

I'm with you!!!!! And I've always wanted to be a stalker....

The Dallas airport would be Love Field -- where Southwest flies out of......

Thanks for the welcome. I should know in the next week or so if we are coming. We're trying to finalize our family vacation (among 6 families) and then I can move on to this one. Are the resorts listed on the front page correct? I'm trying to decide where to stay, and thought I'd try to keep it where others are if possible.

Where are you flying out of? I usually do the non stop red eye from LAX to MCO because its so fast with no layovers/changes. Usually Delta or United, but checking out others too this time.

The resorts are correct unless simeine changed and didn't tell me :)

We are flying to PHL first for an ABD but then home non-stop from MCO the morning of the 22nd...if you need anything - let me know.

If you have left over park tickets from previous visits and can't remember how many days you have left on them, you can have your ticket checked while at Disney World or you can call Disney to check their status:

Not being in the travel business, I am not an expert but to bring a ship to LA in February leaves me :confused3. This is not Florida and the local cruise lines with their limited Mexican cruise are usually full of adults only for winter cruises. I personally think that bringing the ship out here in May would be perfect time to start off with a full summer booking. OK they may want to catch Presidents Day and Easter week but that is only 2 weeks. Schools don't get out here until mid-June so unless they want to bring the Wonder out and run it half-empty until school gets out to work out the kinks then so be it. But the Magic has been here for 2 summers to work out the details. Even in May it is extremely cold here and almost to Cabo. Well that is my $0.002 and that is why I am not in the travel business.

Agreed, the timing doesn't make sense, but I can't see DCL requesting a Jan 1 lease if they don't plan on moving until may, unless they are going to redo the terminal and have to pay for that time....

Disney Wonder to Sail from Los Angeles Starting in 2011
Disney Cruise Line announced on March 30, 2009 that it plans to reposition the Disney Wonder from its Florida base in Port Canaveral to the West Coast in 2011. The company is working with the Port of Los Angeles to finalize a two-year agreement with a three-year extension option. The contract will be considered by the Port of Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners on April 2, 2009.

If approved, the new Disney Wonder sailings could generate more than 250,000 guests passing through the Port of Los Angeles over a five-year period.

The addition of a new homeport for Disney Cruise Line is part of the overall expansion plan for The Walt Disney Company. Two new ships, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, will arrive in Florida’s Port Canaveral in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

Disney Cruise Line has successfully tested the West Coast market with two summer seasons of Mexican Riviera itineraries from the Port of Los Angeles. The Disney Magic cruise ship first called on the West Coast during the summer of 2005 as part of Disneyland’s 50th anniversary and returned again during the summer of 2008. Disney Cruise Line has not yet announced the details of its itineraries for 2011.

Hi Everyone!

I finally found you :)

It is looking better and better that we'll manage a long weekend in August. Yesterday, we bought airline tickets on Southwest ($187 each roundtrip from Chicago) We have a reservation at the Beach Club. The plan is to fly down Wednesday evening the 19th and stay until Sunday the 23rd. At least we will have a few days to visit with all of you! Dan just can't take a full week off in August and we already have our anniversary trip to WDW in June also.

It will be great to see all of you!

:wave2: Everyone!

I'm finally home! I know you all missed me! :lmao:

Life has been a whirlwind since Feb/Mar but I believe that I may finally be settling down enough to attempt to keep up. Just got back from a spring break trip to Europe with the girls and about 38 other spoiled brats - you think we complained about Europe? You should have seen the girls! :scared1: We got delayed by one day in London due to our plane having a generator problem from Madrid to London but we spent the night at the Renaissance Hotel outside the London/Heathrow airport. Did you know the Pound was less than the Euro? :scared1: I guess things have been pretty bad.

Anyway, not sure if I've missed much but when I logged onto the DIS, I have noticed some changes on notifications. Now, can anyone tell me how to clear the notifications? I've looked at them but they haven't cleared. Anything else I should be aware of? ;)

Now :scratchin off to see what I can catch up with.

Talk to you all later.

So, I spoke with Disney Dining this AM and looks like I will not be able to make 'Ohana ADR until 5/17 since it falls within my reservation number that starts 8/15. The CM seems to think I would have a better chance making the group reservation at the end of my stay since 8/18 is only 3 days into my second week (all the other on-site guests coming in b4 us, doing the +10 thing, are going to be calling way ahead of me). Right now there is no plans for Friday; Would anyone be open to doing 'Ohana on Friday if there is NO WAY that I can get the group ressie on Tuesday?

Lastly, I will be calling in at the 90 day mark at 7AM just like everyone else so there is NO GUARANTEE I will be able to secure this reservation. I would suggest that you make a reservation for that evening at a restaurant of your choice at your 90 day mark "just in case" this falls thru. I will post immediately on this thread if I was successful or not. You can always cancel your back up ADR later, but we are going during free dining so everyone "in the know" will be calling at their 90+10 day mark. Ressies at ANY restaurant are going to be hard to get very quickly.

Thanks Mary Ann for looking into this. I have corrected our group above to 3A1K and any night will be great. I will make a back-up for all nights.

Thanks for posting! I've been checking every day! :cool1:

You're welcome. I've been waiting too, but what's up with no Wishes being listed - that can't be right, and Spectro only two nights that week? :confused3

ooooh that's right...we got pull now! Thanks Des!

I'm going to wait & hear what night we are getting Ohana & 1900, before I decide anything else. We want to do an EMH night at MK & then I'll figure out where we'll be & eating. Only places we want to eat are the Cape May Clambake, since we're staying there & have never been, maybe Mama Melrose, and definitely Cali Grill, but other than CG, I don't think I need to jump on an AR. :confused3

Boy, they seem to be cutting back. Summertime usually has at least one, some nights two, Fantasmic showings each night :confused3

Unless we plan for JellyRolls, I want to go out with a bang and do MK EMH Night on the 21st! I can always sleep on the plane the next day.

JellyRolls is a must! The 21st is probably what we'll end up doing. We leave on the 23rd so we'll have a day to recover. ;)

There's been a lot of complaints about that on the theme park boards. Apparently the Fanstasmic shows are absolutely packed now. But the night time shows are really my favorite thing in WDW. I never get tired of Fantasmic, Illuminations or Wishes. So I guess we'll be fighting the crowds! :sad2:

Hi Everyone! Happy Friday!

Is anyone here a current WDW AP holder?

NEVER MIND! - I found a friend with an AP who is giving me a discount card - YAY!

I just read elsewhere on the DIS (Theme parks board) that the Mickey Monitor that is coming out now has "pass it on" coupons for the passholder to give to friends with a 10% discount on a new AP! They have to purchase the AP at WDW in May, June or July. We'll be buying AP's when we go in June and 10% is around $50 savings - since we have to buy 3 "adult" (Darrah just turned 10) AP's, we could save $150! It looks like the AP holder who gives you the card, gets a $25 gift card as well. :thumbsup2

Pamela

I have two reservtion numbers - one for VWL 8/8 - 8/15 & one for BCV 8/15-8/22. Disney Dining no longer lets you make dining past your check out date with +10 thing (they used to let you) and my 90 day window for the second reservation number doesn't open till 5/17, if that makes any sense. :confused3

And yes, we signed up for 1900 Park Fare for Thursday - 4 adults, Thanks!

Not sure if we're arriving on the 16th or not yet, but if we do we might. Oh & we never do the package anymore. We found we get better seats without. Of course that was before they cut down the amount of nights they show it, but we'll take our chances.

I am 95% sure Kallie and I will be coming, but I have not booked our dates yet.
I did find out middle school will be starting after labor day this year (last few years has been before), so that is good too.

We are T minus 3 days til the big wedding! As soon as that wonderful day is over and we ship the newleyweds off to Hawaii, that is #1 on my list to finalize! Kallie does not know about it, so it should be fun to plan!

Just wanted to say hi & update!

Thanks Des!
I was perusing the portal tonight and found a room, so we are booked at POR FQ. I was trying to get resorts that others were at too, but couldn't pass up $75 bucks a night and we like FQ anyway!
I have it booked 8/14-21, but may tweak it depending on prices of flights out. I have to be back by the 21st because I have my high school reunion on the 22nd :)

Kallie will be so excited! Not sure if we will keep it secret up until the departure, or break it to her at some point earlier.

It feels so great knowing "I'm going to Disney World" !
I will catch up on reservations and such after the wedding!

Hi all!

Ok..Ohana is reserved but I am still waiting to hear on 1900 Park Faire...they made me leave a message with the restaurant.

Ohana was available for 6:30...I know Wishes isn't until 10PM but hopefully that will work.

I will let you know as soon as possible about 1900 Park Faire.
