I am a travel consultant sending friends to Disneyland over Christmas/New Year. I have read on several trip reports for WDW in Orlando that some families purchase or hire hand-held radios (walkie-talkies, whatever you call them) for use in the park.

I have found a site for Orlando but cannot find anything relating to this for Disneyland.

Can anyone help me out with info such as cost of purchase or better still hiring them. They are arriving on Christmas Day and wish to hit the parks starting the next day.

Regards

Andrea

I don't know how much it would cost to rent radios....I've never looked into it. We've used radios on several trip to WDW and found them to be a tremendous asset. I believe you can buy a good set of radios for under $100....I'd recommend you check some of the features on different radios before buying them though. Check their range (as in distance), and how many channels and sub-channels they have - the mosre channel choices you have the better chance of finding a frequency that is *unoccupied*! Good luck!

Lots of them on clearance right now at various stores- I think new models are coming out so they get rid of the old ones. Very affordable at Target(check the clearance areas) I found mine at Best Buy on clearance (older colors/model but have 14 channels , plus 38 sub codes) they were 2 pkg together for only $45. They work just fine - tried them at home (we live in a busy area- right next to highway - and businesses that I know use the same radios)
