We're driving to WDW on Saturday (11-13 hour drive). What are some healthy snacks that would hold up being in the car? We will have a small cooler but I'm not sure how much room I can use in it for food. I'm planning on baking some tortilla chips but other than that I'm not really sure. I'll probably get a salad or something when we stop for fast food. Thanks for any help!

I did this trip with 3 of my 4 children and husband this past spring, We live in New Hampshire, so it was a very lonnnnnng trip. For snacks I made a home-made trail mix: almonds, soy nuts, peanuts, semi-sweet chocolate-chips. raisins, and pretzel sticks (the small ones). Fiber One bars, baby carrots with Hummus (which only lasted one day in a cooller, we ate it all) peanut-butter crackers, I brought a jar of peanut-butter and no fat saltines. Plenty of water. You get the idea.... Good luck. We had a blast driving, and would do it again in a heart beat. In fact, we are thinking of going again for spring break. We have 2 DD's in college now so its hard to find the time when we can all go together.

I measure out almonds and put them in snack size zip lock bags. Sometimes I'll add walnuts or if I feel I can splurge, I'll add some dried fruit.

I would ditto all of the above. I have also posted an energy bar recipie that you can freeze and they keep really well. Another thing to consider packing is some of the prepackaged tuna and cracker packs. I use these even when I fly. You can also add the tuna to your salad for a quick addition of protein. The tuna does not need to be kept cold so you can just throw it in the trunk. I carry protein bars with me for a quick snack too. I always keep one in my purse and it is a lifesaver!!!

Have a great trip!!!!!

Thanks so much everyone! :goodvibes I will be going shopping tonight after work and will definitely be picking up your suggestions. I LOVE tuna so thanks for that (although my riding companions may not enjoy smelling it :)). I always splurge a little in WDW so it's nice to eat healthy on the way down there so I can afford a couple treats :).
