Our first trip home - Day 14

Today was our last full day :sad1: So MGM it was as we still wanted to see Lights, Motors, Action! We got to MGM just at opening and got to see the opening ceremony, from a distance as it was quite busy!

Once the opening ceremony was over with it was off towards ToT and R’n’R.

I got fastpasses for R’n’R and then we quickly headed over to ToT.

As soon as we had done the preshow we were in the waiting area and it was packed after about 5 minutes we realised this was due to there being only one lift working! Luckily the second lift was soon up and running. It was then time to head over to R’n’R.

We had a little wait and ended up in Once Upon A Time where we bought a sketch of Pooh and Co and had it sent to the front of the park for collection when we were leaving. As soon as the time came up for R’n’R I nipped back and got another FP for ToT :teeth: After this we headed towards the back of the park and decided to go on the backlot tour as we had not done this for several years. The water scenes are always funny!

It was then time to get on the tram and we saw some of the props from films such as PoTC.

Along with the topiary Earful tower.

As the Backlot tour now passes behind the LMA stadium we could see the cars or should I say the smoke from the pre show practicing.

Also hiding out the back was Herbie split in two :eek:

Then it was time for Catastrophe Canyon :scared1:

By now it was mid morning and as Lights, Motors, Action was only on twice we made it into the first show with a few minutes to spare! Again this is a show we have only seen once before and it was good to watch the way the stunts are done.

As the time was now nearing 1.40pm we headed off to get lunch at the Backlot Express. I do recall in the past how busy it has been here and trying to get a table has been a nightmare but for some reason today it was very quiet. We both had burgers that seem to be a lot better than they used to be.

It was time to leave the studios but on the way out we stopped at Dinosaur Gertie’s to get an ice cream, I am sure they get smaller every year! As we left I saw the Mickey Ear topiaries!

Once back at SSR we took one last dip and lay by the pool but the weather was turning.

After this we showered and headed off to Epcot for Illuminations, but what a mistake it was so busy, what with MGM closing at 7.30pm and MK having MNSSHP then Epcot was the only park open. Deciding that it was not worth staying as it was so difficult to walk easily anywhere we went out International Gateway and got a bus from the Beach Club to DTD and went into PH for dinner. Here I had the potato skins.

And Nathan started with the bruschetta.

I then had the club sandwich and Nathan had the half of chicken, somehow we forgot to get pictures :( It was now nearing 10pm and as we had to pack and be out by about 11am we went back to SSR.

That's a dramatic change of weather captured in your poolside photos. You did a good job of fitting quite a lot into your last day. It's always a little hard deciding what to do on a last day, as we realize that what's left undone will be left that way until the next trip.
