My DD's 15 1/2 and 10 1/2 and I are taking the Magic Cruise in July - is there anyone else out there going during that time - would like to get to know some "cruisers" and possibly meet up on the cruise. My husband doesn't get to join us so I'm sure I'll have to meet some new friends to help enjoy my stay on the ship so I won't bug my sister and her family and my girls will probably leave their mom in a flash to do their own thing.

Hope to hear from you all and get some good advice as we've never been on a cruise - this is our first.

We'll be there!
My husband and I along w/ our 11 year old daughter and some of my other family members!

I know of another OK family going that I met on this board!!!!

That's great - have you guys been on a cruise before? What cabin are you staying in - we're on Deck 6 Stateroom 6078. My 10 year old daughter's name is Taylor. I'm sure they will probably meet up on their group due to their age. Where are you from?

Hey - ldb1030 AND D A P & I

Glad to hear we're all on the same ship; same date - does anyone have any idea about what excursions they are going to be doing offshore?? My sister has been getting a lot of ideas from this message board, but I've still not decided what I want to do when we get to the islands. I think we should all meet up and introduce ourselves when we get on the ship (of course, after we get everyone settled)

D A P & I - where are you from? I'm from Norman, Oklahoma - where are you at on the ship?

Idb1030 - glad to hear your from KS - how's the weather there these days - Just rainy in Oklahoma this month - our tornado season - we're a category 6 - not sure what all that stuff means - I'm just glad to be on board the ship? What is your DD 11 interests? Both my DD's play softball and basketball - but they are eagerly awaiting for school to be out (in about 2 weeks):jester:

ldb1030
05-06-2002, 03:53 PM
It's hot and muggy here and we had some tornados last night but it was all north of us thank goodness!
My daughter also plays softball and she is in dance/gymnastics class! She is out of school in 3 weeks and looking VERY forward to the summer! We talk about the cruise pretty much everyday!:D Can't concentrate of anything else!

D A P & I & ldb1030

Hey - you guys are both on Deck 5 - maybe your right next door to each other - that would be great for you two!!! Must come visite me on Deck 6.

Idb1030 - I bet your right - my sister is Paintballbusters - she told me she's been emailing another family! She has a daughter, Callie and son, Justin (Scotty)

Trust me I know all too well about this being expensive! I've been trying to save over the past year - and haven't done a very good job, but I have decreased my credit card balance so I figure since it may be awhile before I get to go again, then I'm going to try and have as much fun as I can - BUT I think we'll be having so much fun on the ship that the extras on the island won't really matter.

ldb1030
05-06-2002, 04:24 PM
We are working on saving our spending money now that we have the cruise paid for and yes, it is nice to buy pictures and things but you certainly can still have a great time without spending a bunch of extra $$!!

I'm still trying to figure out about the "tipping" and all that stuff to make sure I've got that covered as well. Never been on a cruise like this so I don't know how that "tipping" method works - any suggestions?

ldb1030
05-06-2002, 04:45 PM
Don't stress about it! When you get your documents, there is a helpful little book in it! Just take your time and read over everything! The tipping guidelines are just suggestions and you can always tip more or less depending on the service you receive! I think you'll be surprised at the EXCELLENT service you get and then giving out the tips does not seem so bad!
I know we paid more than the suggest amount for our cabin steward!

We're on 7/27 Magic as well. This will be our 2nd Disney Cruise. First was 12/16/01. Seems like so long ago. It was just DH and I then . . . this time it is me, DH, MIL and FIL, SIL and her family of husband and two kids and their friends with two kids. Whew! It will be a lot different than the last one!

Hi - glad your going to be aboard - where will you be located at on the ship? Do you have any good suggestions for us newcomers? (i.e. what to bring, what not to bring)?

It looks like you guys are going to have a long flight ahead of you coming from California - hope you have a safe trip!!:D

54susie
05-07-2002, 09:57 AM
I know we are on deck 7 in a veranda room. It's hard to tell you what to bring or not to bring because it's just the two of us. I haven't made the trip with children. The thing I can tell you is that after I made my list, I took out some of the clothing and I was glad I did. I spent so much time at the pool and stuff that I really didn't need some of the stuff I did take.

I had such a wonderful time, and I'm so looking forward to the next one in July. It is a long trip, but we come in the day before and stay at the Airport Hyatt which is right in the airport. Last time we actually rented a car the night before, drove to WDW and saw the Cirque du Soleil show at Downtown Disney. It was awesome. I don't think we will do that this time, however, I was so tired the next morning...and I want to be very refreshed to be on the first bus out of the hotel!! We got in line early at the terminal and were able to get the Pala and Spa reservations we wanted - it was great to see all the families arrive at the terminal. Kids were so excited . . . and so were the adults. While we were in line we met some really nice people and the time went by so fast. It was Christmas so the ship was beautifully decorated. I'm looking forward to seeing it without the decorations now. I CAN'T WAIT . . . CAN YOU TELL??

Tell me all about that whole "reservation" thing - I know from my sister telling me that it was first come first serve as far as the reservations - I'm afraid that I won't be able to get what I want plus get the girls signed up for what they want - BUT we first need to figure out what that is - what are your recommendations especially as far as the spa - what is Pala - excuse my ignorance -still learning - I know I definately want to find out where their work-out room is as I try to go to the gym on my lunch hour now and I feel I will definately be eating a whole lot more on the ship so I'll need to get that exercise on the ship!##**

Beachgirls! Did Taylor get an email???:D

54susie
05-07-2002, 11:03 AM
Pala is the alternate restaurant on the ship. It is $5.00 for each adult which is basically a tip because the servers only serve in Pala. But when we went we left more because . . .
IT IS AWESOME!!! It is by far the best food on the ship. They have brunch on sea days and high tea as well. They serve dinner which has a wonderful menu. I believe that either Inkognito or Dave from Marietta have the menus on their websites. Try to find them on these boards and you will get their websites. It is totally worth the little extra money.

Pala reservations fill up, but they have cancellations that occur during the week. As for the spa, we signed up for massages on the ship as well as on Castaway Cay. The ones in the cabanas on Castaway Cay fill up quickly because they are limited. We were luck to get what we wanted - we hope to do the same this time.

Suggestion for first time cruisers:

Use Bonine (or patches or whatever ...). Always.
Don't wait for sea sickness. When you have sea sickness it's too late.

99% of cruisers doesn't have any problems. But if it happens ... it's a wonderful holidays wasted.

You become green and start to need a bathroom. Then go to bed, then back to bathroom, then ... oh no! back to bathroom again!

One Bonine each day prevent everything (I + wife use patches, never had problems).

There was a couple of honeymooner at our table for dinner in a past cruise.
Monday, thursday and saturday she had dinner with us and he had sea sickness. Tuesday, friday and sunday he had dinner and she spent the evening in the room

just a hint ;)

Marco & Laura

p.s. wendesday their bathroom was very crowded

beachgirls
05-09-2002, 03:58 PM
Thanks for the info Marco1 - I've been told that Bonine is the best to use as it doesn't make you drowsy. I'm not one to get sea sick - or at least I don't think I will - but I'm not going to take a chance - I'll be taking plenty with me on my first cruise trip FOR SURE!!!

Any other special notes - I've been told to bring my own pop for the room ; snacks, etc. - bring plenty of sunscreen - etc. Anything else you might know - I'm sure I've not covered even half of what I'm about to experience.:bounce:

Just thought of a question - what about those water shoes (mainly designed for the kids) and/or I guess for those of us with tender shoes - does anyone wear those type shoes in the ocean? Has anyone been stung by a jelly fish?? Cut by sea shells or rocks in the water - I guess you can tell I'm from Oklahoma - I don't know much about the ocean. Our water here is muggy and not very clear in our lakes.

MICKEY'S DREAMERS
05-10-2002, 02:33 PM
1) I assume you know about sea lice risk.
read carefully all the post

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=176596

2) yes use water shoes. Better to avoid risks.

3) food: really do not understand the suggestion to bring snacks aboard ... you have "food around the clock" for free.
You have various restaurants, pizza, ice cream, fruit, hotdogs open almost all the day. Moreover you can order food in your stateroom (for free) 24 hours a day ... what are the snack for?

beachgirls
05-10-2002, 03:15 PM
No, I don't know much about the sea lice so I'll be reading up on that thanks for the site.

Well, I guess I really didn't know all food ordered via you room was free I thought just the 3 meals at the restaurants were - I figured I needed to bring my own drinks in the room so I wouldn't have to go someone on board to get it. I drink nothing but water, no pop so I figured I would be buying bottled water everytime I wanted one so that's why I was bringing my water. I'm going to buy my kids their soda mugs because I know them and they will be getting pop left and right between meals.

So if I want an in-between snack I can call from my room and they'll bring it? No matter what time?

MICKEY'S DREAMERS

hallo ! hallo! :bounce:

Laura here :earsgirl: !

I am working all day, during the week, but I have some spare time during the weekend and love to be part of the board.

DRINK:
I also use to drink a lot of water every day!
If you drink only "bottled" water, you can buy it on the ship (but it's very expensive). In this case bring bottles with you.

BUT if don't mind drinking "just water", there is a 24 hours coffee station outside Topsider, where you can have water and also lemonade, tea, milk and of course coffee 24 hours a day (for free).

I use to pick up there cups of water or milk to keep in the refrigerator of the stateroom (an empty bottle is handy too).

ADDITIONAL DRINK INFO:
sodas are free at lunch / dinner, but very expensive during the day (bars / lounges)

FOOD:
If children would like candies or pops, it's really better you bring them with you. If they like pizzas, ice creams, frozen yogurt, fruit, hot dog, hamburgers, chicken fingers ... they can have their favorite food at Pluto's, Pinocchio's, and Scoop's for free.

May I have a photo of you and girls? m.dinaro@tin.it

We have made lot of friends in our previous cruises and like to keep in touch.

ciao

Glad my sister (beachgirls) found some new friends for us on our next cruise. My DH, DS, DD and myself cruised the 3 day back in Sept 2000. We loved it so much I talked them and my sister and my mother into the 7-day Eastern. We are in Cat 3, Room 8046. It's the only way my DH will go especially since mom is going, we'll need extra bathroom & beds. We stayedin Cat 3 on the 3-day cruise and thoroughly enjoyed it. It spoiled us. Doing Golden Eagle Catamaran . Not sure about anything else just yet. I agree we should all meet. Us moms must stay together.

I definitely agree that we all need to meet the very first day. It is so exciting to talk to people you are actually going to be vacationing with before you get there and to boot it's individuals you've never met before. This is so exciting. Any of you have the late seating for dinner? My family and beachgirls have late seating. I believe LDB1030 has early seating. Maybe we'll all be close and will really be able to party big the whole time. I hope I have new pen pals when I come home, too.

We have late dining too.
But we will be, most probably, in a different "rotation".
There will be only the two of us without children.

Restaurant assignemet rotation is based on the age of the children of the group. We will be (almost for sure) in the rotation LAPLAPL (i.e. the first evening at Lumiere's, then at Animator's Palate then at Parrot Cay...).
Groups with small children will start with Animator's (APLAPLA) and groups with teenegers will start with Parrot Cay (PLAPLAP).

Moreover we will consider to have dinner at Palo, tuesday at 8 PM (subject to availability). We have chosen tuesday because, with any rotation, this will be the day where you should eat for the third time in the same restaurant.

Note that Palo is an Italian Restaurant :earseek:

Marco1 -- Since we didn't do Palos on our last cruise, I would like to try it on this one. I'm not much for Italian, but I read in someone's trip report that at either the brunch or dinner, they have crab legs and lobster, all you can eat. Do you know which eating time this might be? This is the one I would really like to attend. Also, is the only charge the $5/pp plus if you want to tip more, and of course your alcoholic drinks?

Paintballbusters,

The dinner menu doesn't include the items you mentioned.
For a complete Palo dinner Menu, look here:

So it should be Brunch (10$ cost).

BRUNCH:
Palo also features a Brunch on the seven-day cruise. It requires reservations and a $10 surcharge. It includes a very nice glass of Champagne. You begin with a trip to the window of the kitchen to hear about the entree choices from the chef. You then give your order to your server, and are directed to a little buffet with wonderful Italian cold meats, cheeses, shrimp, and crab legs, as well as a pastry table with the best croissants you will find on the ship. If you still have room to eat your entree, by all means. Then there is a dessert table where you can help yourself. Plan to stay a while. There's a LOT of food, and if you want to get a taste of it all, pace yourself!

It's just a letter explaining that you can now pre-book your excursions and a request form on the back.
Also, a shore excursion book explaining them to you.
An excursion fact sheet w/ the length, departure time and cost listed.
And they also enclosed a magical treasures brochure.

Thanks, beachgirls, for the invite to this thread! I was wondering if there were any other families from here going on "our" cruise! LOL We're practically counting down minutes, we're that anxious!

We'll be on deck 6 in rooms 6144 and 6146. We are Russell, Tracy, Devin (DD 11), Greg (DS 6) and Shirley (my MIL) Does anyone know how luggage is handled if you come in the Friday night before? We'll be staying at the airport Hyatt and I wasn't sure if we were to take our luggage from the plane or just leave it and let DCL take care of it.

We've already reserved our excursions thru DCL, so if anyone wants to do that this far in advance to make sure you get what you want, here's the email I received from DCL:

"You may call our Special Services Desk at 1-877-566-0968, write an email to DCL.Shore.Excursions@disney.com or fax us at 407 566-7031 to request your shore excursions. We accept shore excursion requests starting at 60 days prior to your sail date only. Please include your 8 digit reservation number and full first and last name when corresponding via email or fax." HTH someone! I called and they didn't ask for a credit card #, so I don't know if that means we don't pay for it if we can't make it....

If someone here coordinates a meeting time and place, please let me know. We're going to ask for the dining rotation PLAPLAP so we can be in PC for Tropicalifragilistic.... night. We also have early seating - anyone else?

I'm trying so hard not to become overwhelmed with this trip, but it's our first cruise and we're so excited... I'm afraid DH may end up sitting on me to keep me still as it gets closer! LOL

Beachgirls and I have scheduled our excursions with DCL (did it yesterday as a matter of fact). It took 40 minutes over the phone but it's taken care of. They even faxed me the confirmation. Everything will be charged to our onboard account. We have until 7 days before embarkation to make any changes or cancellations. After that, we have to pay for it whether we use it or not. We have late seating as well as BeachGirls. I believe ldb1030 has early seating with you guys.

I don't know our dinner rotation and did not request it. This is our 2nd cruise. Did the 3-day Sept 2000 and enjoyed so much we are doing 7-day and talked sister, nieces and mother into going. Myself, DH, DS (15) & DD (12) are flying in the morning of the cruise. Beachgirls and DM are driving to Florida a few days before and will be staying the night around the port. We are in room 8046. Can't wait to meet everyone!

We did the 7-day eastern last july (7-7-02). IT WAS HOT!!! My 18 DD got her hair braided at St. Martin and her forehead got burnt really bad. Her head was swollen for days. We ended up spending with tips and everything on board $700.00 this was for four people with no children. We rode the local bus in St. Martin and saw the french side and shopped in the outside markets for about an hour. We did our own excursion to Trunk Bay from the all the info on this board. It went smoothly, costs lest than disney charged and we had more time on the island. We had cabin 6028 great location. Hope this helps. Have a great trip, I cant wait to do it again.

Marco 1 - Palos was $10.00, plus we left an additional tip, and received a thank you note on our door. There was crab legs and plenty of other fancy things, we ate a late lunch so we wouldnt have missed our dinner rotation. There were plenty of openings for the lunch hours. We used a day at sea for this.

We will be on the same ship, too!! I'm taking my 2DGD's (that's Darling GrandDaughters), ages 8 and 5. We'll arrive on the 26th from San Diego, Calif. and will spent the night at the Hyatt. All of us are soooooo excited. :Pinkbounc I will save the Palo dinner reservations for the couples but I'd love to go to the High Tea at Palo. Not sure what to do with the two girls while I'm in the reservation line. Wonder if I can check 'em in at their clubs?

Hi y'all! We'll be there to meet everyone at 3:00 on Saturday! Our dd, Devin, is 11 and our ds, Greg, is 6. I wish I knew how to put pictures on here, but alas, I'm a technological idiot. I'll have to see if I can get dh to come up from the basement (he has a woodworking shop down there) to get him to take care of that for me (he's a programmer in real life) Does anyone have a website with your pictures on it? We'd love to see them! I have to see if I can make myself appear much thinner! :bounce: I kinda resemble this little guy! LOL And I certainly act like him!

ZooMommy - Hey - its Beachgirls - sorry I haven't responded before now - it was my 37th birthday on Friday - so I took the day off!! I was just looking through some threads and saw you were on the same cruise as all of us so I wanted you to join in on our thread. That's great that your on deck 6 - so am I - my and my DD's will be in room 6078! I don't think that's toooooo far from you, but I don't know as I've not been on a cruise before - Paintballbusters is my sister and her family. As you probably know from Paintballbusters - we've scheduled our excursions.

As far as a meeting I believe we are all planning on meeting at 3:00 p.m. the first day on the ship (Saturday) at Goofy's pool side. I think if you read a couple of posts before these you'll see the info. I'd be happy to email you a picture of us so you'll kinda be able to find me - but you'll have to send me a private message or your email so I can send it to you! Also, my DD Taylor is 10 1/2 so maybe her and Devin will get along great. Do you have an email where Taylor can email Devin. I, like you, am very, very excited being my first cruise. I know its very hard not to get excited.

OKAY - ON THE IDEA FROM MARCO 1 - I'm going to make a sign that says "Beachgirls & Co. Party" Here - maybe if I hold it up - everyone in this growing group will find everyone!! So at 3:00 p.m. at the Goofy pool stage - I'll hold up a sign (if the ship allows) and everyone can know where we are - does that sound okay? It might make it easier who knows - just a suggestion.

Hey beachgirls - happy belated birthday, youngster! :D I hope your day was extra special!

That sounds good that you're gonna have a sign so we can be on the lookout for y'all. Devin's so excited that there are other girls her age that she can pal around with. If you'll send me an email from the board, I'll reply to you personally with her email addy for Taylor, ok?

Does anyone know about the lime green ribbons we can wear? I'm assuming it's so others from these boards will recognize us, but I'm not 100% sure. If anyone has a clue, please fill me in!

Sorry I've not responded everyone - been very busy lately.

Hey ZooMommy - thanks for the birthday congrats! Had a wonderful 37th birthday. I'll get the email address to you so Devin can email Taylor. She's visiting her dad through Father's Day so she'll be back home on the eve of the 17th.

Grandmamalinda - when I was married to my daughter's daddy our last name was 'Beach" and we were three girls so I've always used "beachgirls" - I'm probably going to have to change that soon as I've remarried recently and my name changed to "Bias". But, I still like to refer to beachgirls as my daughters last names are still "beach". Anyway its worked really good for us three young ladies. I guess I still dream of a "beach" here in Oklahoma. The closest I get is Lake Thunderbird - we're only about 5 minutes from it - but its far from being a beach - everyone in Oklahoma calls it "dirty bird" as we have red dirt and most of the time it looks red.

Haven't heard anything about green ribbons - I'll go do some searching to see what I can find - maybe you can start a thread on them and see what we find - I'm thinking about doing one on sunscreen vs. sunblock - I've heard that one's better than the other but I don't know which one. Anyone have any info on this subject here?

Re. your question on sunblock/suncreen.....I jotted down a few notes from a t.v health commentary yesterday on this subject. The best product contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide (zinc offers more UVA protection), should be at least 15 but not necessary to go more than 30. Good to be PABA-free since PABA is a chemical that can cause skin irritation. I read the label of the product I use on my grandchildren-Coppertone Kids Spray 'N Splash sunblock lotion, 30 spf, 6 hr. waterproof. Didn't contain either the zinc or the titanium! Even though the kids will be California sunproof by late July, I read they may fry in the Caribbean sun. I'm look for another product and best to bring a lot! :sunny: Linda

Hi Everyone!

I'm Karen, I'm from Oregon, and we're sharing a ship! I'll be cruising with my teenage daughter and I'm looking forward to a relaxing week. We're leaving the "boys" at home, having a week of a clean cabin (meaning no guys to mess up the place) sounds like heaven to me. (I know the payback will be what the house looks like on our return, but I don't care).

I'm looking for another single adult traveler (or more) to have dinner with me at Palo or else I'll be dining alone that night. Anyone interested?

GREAT! Grandmalinda, we'll do dinner! I'm glad I won't have to eat alone, I hear Palo is wonderful. If any other singles want to join us let us know.

I'm flying to Orlando a few days early, staying at WDW for a few days then checking in the airport Hyatt the night before the cruise.

I will look for you all at the pool at 3:00.

I don't know where my room is yet, it's an outside room, (forget the catagory), they don't give out room assignments on that catagory until check in. It's the "move em up we need more room" catagory, I guess. It will more than likely be deck 7 or so.

Welcome aboard, Cruella --- My son is going on the cruise with us and he's 15-1/2. How old is your teenage daughter? Also, my oldest niece that will be joining us as well (Beachgirls) is 15. She'll turn 16 in August after we return from the cruise. They'll both be in Common Grounds and hanging out with all the other teens most of the trip, I would imagine. The last time we cruised my son was 13 and I think we saw him at dinner 1 time and then he never returned to our room for bed until around 1 am or so. He had an absolute blast. By the way, he's very well behaved so you don't have to worry about that. LOL!

Looking forward to meeting you!!! How old is your daughter? Are you doing any excursions? I know I'm going to have a massage on the ship - just trying to figure out which one! OK, here's the deal! After reading this board I called DCL to upgrade and get the American Express package. I got the last catagory 7 room (someone cancelled), while we were talking my old room was booked by someone else and BAM, THE SHIP WAS SOLD OUT! right in front of my eyes (or ears). The ship was closed out on the computer for the first time. The docs are being printed up for all of us as I type (he had to call down to docs to record my change).

With my AmEx package I can pre-reserve Palo from home, which I will for GrandmaLinda and I. Is there anyone else here that would like to be included in our dinner at Palo? Post here and let me know. GrandmaLinda, tell me your thoughts on the day, I'm thinking (Tues or Weds) when we're past three days in. I hear the Palo high tea and brunch are awesome too.

This is WAY cool the way the little group here is growing. I'm going to try to get to the Pluto pool a little earlier. I'm getting excited!

BUT.... I ordered a Linens N Things g/c so I can go get space bags and we'll pack our clothes in there and then vacuum the air out (I'll use the vac on the ship when it's time to pack up to come home :( ) So anyway, I'm outta here now to go finish packing up garage sale and cruise stuff so I can hide everything in the basement (which also needs decluttering...sigh...)

You're going to be needing a cruise.

I have just spent over an hour reading past "Navigators" from the Magic on an April cruise. I wasn't sure at first if I wanted to know everything (I like suprises) but I found reading them (including all of the teen activities) very helpful. I'm working reservations around the shows I want to see, stuff like that.

There is just so much to do. The challenge will be to just make time to relax.

Do space bags really work? After storage do the clothes come out flat or do they really puff up like the commericials? Are they fresh? Will you give us a space bag class on the cruise?

GrandmaLinda, I live in Eugene. Are you in California?

I go to Florida in the summer a lot it seems. I think it's because I work around the school schedule and Disney is there. It's so beautiful here the summer, I tell myself I'm crazy to leave but that MOUSE is a big draw! As long as the AC works down there I'm fine and I do love those afternoon thunderstorms.

Hi, DAP&I: granddaughter Danielle (8) has blonde hair, blue eyes, likes Britney Spears, reading, dancing and swimming. Tomorrow is the last day for her in 2nd grade. She is in Indian Princess and is also a Brownie. She loves gymmnastics and will be going to golf camp this summer. Her sister, Kylie (5), has blonde hair and brown eyes and likes whatever her sister likes, of course! Both of the girls will have 2 weeks of camp just before the cruise. Busy summer.
Cruella: I just opened a Space bag of my summer clothes and they're pretty wrinkled. I think the bags will work best on stuff that doesn't need to be ironed. Will we have access to an iron? (Since I'm in category 12, I'll probably have the maids living next door to me. Should be easy to get someone to do the ironing.) I'm glued to the Westerfield/Van Damm trial also. Although I live about 30 miles away from where Danielle lived, I was one of the searchers for 2 days. I was even interviewed on tv twice. You couldn't convince anyone in San Diego that he didn't do it.

GL. Looking bad for DW and they haven't even gotten into the material evidence yet. I hate the way they went after the Van Dams for their....well anyway, and today it comes out that Feldman is a card carring, volunteering member of NORML. Don't get me going on lawyers.

Will you try to email me through the email link here? I don't know if it works or not. If not I'll put my yahoo addy on the board. I may need your name and room number for the reservations. I've read different things concerning that on the boards.

I'm not getting anything done because of that trial. CTV coverage stinks. Bet it's better in San Diego.

Hey y'all! GL, we don't have a Costco here, just Sam's and I haven't seen the spacebags there. I read somewhere that there is an iron in Deck 7's laundry room; I won't put our formal stuff in the spacebags, though...

Cruella - I've vacationed many times at Crater Lake when I was growing up and one day I'm going to take my family there! That's God's country, for sure!

Please pardon my ignorance, but what's up with the Westerfield/Van Damm trial? I can't watch stuff like that; I can't hardly bear to read about that young lady in Utah. I can sure appreciate my mom's "over-protectiveness" a lot more these days...

Anyone wanna come help me declutter my house? Puhleeze??? LOL

06-13-2002, 11:25 PM
Cruella, I'll try to send you an email. Yeah, the trial is carried on 3 stations here plus repeats at night. The San Diego Union Tribune seems a wee bit slanted against DW with bad pics of him & headline comments such as today's "Defendant said "we" in telling of trip to desert". First time I agree with a newspaper. You and I will have great conversation at Palo. I don't have a room number yet....remember, I'm down there with the crew! TA says they may assign a room late June. Linda

Hallo to everybody!
Here we are again (Laura & Marco from Italy)

We have been quite busy these days. Hallo to Cruella and Buzz2.
It's nice to see our "onboard family" is growing fast :bounce: .
We made a spreadsheet with "Who's who" information. We will try to copy it in a further reply later on.

Concerning packing ... since we leave home (in Italy) and board our MAGIC ship, there will be more than 24 hours of trip. We will have a "ship luggage" that will be opened only on the ship (4 days after leaving home ... we also have to recover the Jet Lag!).
Moreover we will have some small luggage to "survive" until boarding the ship.
We had the same packing in our previous cruises and dresses reached destination in good shape. No need of ironing. We use hardside Samsonite luggage, specifically designed for long trips

p.s. You will recognize us easily. We are the two unique people speaking Italian but Pinocchio ;)

Hi Marco and Laura!

A spreadsheet! How organized.:) That's a good idea.

You have a long trip to get to the Magic, remember you'll have friends waiting for you in Florida.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Cruella.

Well, I just called our AAA TA and no docs yet. She told me her notes said if our docs weren't there by July 15th, then she would worry. Actually, I'm getting a little peeved that Devin's birth certificate isn't here yet. I'm just hoping that my request didn't get lost in the mail.

Y'all please keep praying that our house sells. We had 2 serious potential buyers thru last night and the 2nd guy that came told Russell that he could probably get together enough money to make the down payment so that we wouldn't have to deal with a contingency contract.... That would be WONDERFUL! We wouldn't have to move until the end of summer and I wouldn't have to struggle with keeping this place spotless. LOL

I already begged Laura to come help me declutter closets and for some strange reason, she wouldn't! ;) That's ok, I ordered a book and cassette on how to speak Italian, so I guess I'll have to jerk her chain and tell her off in her native language! With my strong east Texas accent, I'll probably butcher the words and say something like, "Devin is a potty mouth and eats bones for snacks at midnight" or something weird like that! :D

I'm getting so excited and I can't wait to meet all y'all! I wanna hear about what's in the docs and whether they're hard to fill out (I'm an idiot when it comes to details.... if I hadn't been there when my kids were born, I'd have no idea how big they were or what sex they are....) LOL

I'm off to Target; anybody need anything while I'm there?!

Well the first booklet says "A GUIDE TO THE DINSEY CRUISE LINE DOCUMENT PACKAGE" which talks the contents of your package. First is a booklet "PASSPORT TO DISNEY MAGIC" - it has information about customs and immigration as well as all valuable information we've received on this DIS board - what to pack - tipping - health center - onboard dinning - you name it - it has it. Next booklet is entitled "FORMALWEAR" - just a little brochure wherein you can rent white dinner jacket, etc. Next is a little paper for reserving your shore excursions - Next - is the "DISNEY CRUISE VACATIONS PROTECTION PLAN" booklet. Next is the "DISNEY MAGICAL TREASURERS" which is really just on the wines and the costs; and the food and beverage trays as well as gift packages you can purchase. Lastly and most importantly is the "YOUR TRAVEL BOOKLET" which looks like a thicker version of the old "passport tickets" for an airplane flight. It's thick and info on your vacation itinerary; mailing information; sailing itinerary; important messages; cruise information; gratuity guidelines information; ground transfer info; luggage tags; transfer purchase option; payment authorization form; cruise embarkation form; department information card; arrival/departure card; and cruise and airline contracts.

Hope this info helps you out somewhat until you get your package.:smooth:

Oh Marco, I'm ROFLMBOBO (that's "big ol' ") for the 2 added letters!!! How funny! I can't wait until Russell sees that! Whoever said WOMEN were picky never had to deal with a man who can be vain about his age! ;) And I never realized it's HARD to be 40 (sob!) until you see it in print by your name.... LOL

Tyla, thanks for letting us know what's in the cruise docs! That's a lot of information to digest. I sure wish ours would get here.

One of my sisters told me to pick up Orlando Pure Vanilla while we're at St Maarten/St Thomas for her. She wants 10 bottles of it! I don't think I wanna volunteer to bring back anything else!

At least I got my Linen's N Things g/c so I can shop sans kids tomorrow while they're in Vacation Bible School! And I didn't forget that I needed paper towels and mascara while we were at Target, but I did forget the make-up mirror. Sheesh! It's next door to LNT, so I'll head over there, too! I can ALWAYS find an excuse to visit Target! LOL

Hello everyone! I've been reading all these posts - sounds like quite a group. My family (DH, DS 4 1/2, DS 5 1/2, MIL, & FIL) and I will be joining you on the 27th. We're sooo excited. We have had a tough spring and are very much looking forward to this trip. My oldest son was run over by our next door neighbor in his full size pickup truck in March! Horrifying! He suffered several fractures to his pelvis and a dislocated S.I. joint (in the pelvic region). Miraculously, he is doing excellent!! He is very tough, obviously, but it has been an extremely difficult couple of months on our family. (You won't be able to tell by looking at him - he only has a small scar at the base of his back, which is mostly covered by a swimsuit, and one side of his pelvis is more prominent than the other, but you have to know what you're looking for.) Anyway, needless to say, we needed a good vacation!! We're driving from Virginia, thinking of stopping in S.C. Friday night. How early do we need to plan on arriving at the port? I picked up our docs yesterday, and I intend to book shore excursions today. Anyone have last minute tips for our kids? Looking forward to meeting all of you - Saturday, 3:00, near Goofy's pool, right? We can't wait!! :D :D :D

Welcome, drl! I'm so sorry to hear about your son's accident, but I am truly thankful that he's recovering so well! You guys definitely need a vacation! My ds, Greg, is 6 so I know he'll be glad to hear that he'll have another guy in his age group to pal around with! We can't wait to meet you by the pool that Saturday. As for embarkation times, I think they start boarding as early as 12:30..... help me out here, someone, am I close?! LOL This is our first cruise; hopefully, it won't be our last!

Thanks so much for the warm welcome. My sons names are Conner (the oldest) and Chase. They are very excited!! I'm afraid we're at the bottom of the ship on Deck 1. We have Cat. 10 rooms (1049 & 1065 - my in-laws), but we are at the bottom. I hope these won't be too awful. I didn't know I could request a certain room when I booked. Next time I will. Hopefully we won't be spending very much time in the rooms anyway, right? My name is Dena and my husband is Noal. My in-laws are Harriet and Kenny. We don't have a picture to send. Sorry. I'll work on getting one next week. I did not get my shore excursions booked today - ran out of time. I wish I were adventurous enough to try navigating the islands without an excursion. Has anyone tried this? I'd be afraid we'd spend hours lost or something. I'm already taking a lot of ribbing from my father in law about the price of this cruise v. the other two non-Disney cruises they've been on. I'll never here the end of it if I get them lost in the Carribbean!! :D Any advice out there would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah, one more thing I thought of - do I need to find the SeaSafe lotion somewhere, or is this sea lice thing a rarity? Thanks again, Dena

:sunny: Hi, Dena What an awful thing to happen to Connor! Poor baby. It's amazing how fast the little ones bounce back, isn't it? He needs this vacation more than anyone!! Don't feel as if you are on the bottom.....I am in category 12 with my two granddaughters (Danielle 8 1/2 and Kylie 5 1/2). I think I'm next to the crew. From the great things I hear about the crew, this could be a good thing. I don't even have an assigned room yet! There are some great tips posted on this forum. Tell your FIL there may be other cruises but there is only ONE Disney cruise line. Everyone keeps coming back so it must be worthwhile. I went to WalMart today and purchased several large tubes of sunblock: Sea & Ski spf 50 ($6.46 ea.). It is pink. yellow cap and says BABY at the bottom. The important thing is it has zinc oxide. I saw a report recently that said the only ones to buy must have either Parsol or Zinc Oxide in them. Hear horror stories about that Caribbean sun. Also got some Solarcaine, just in case.

I'd like to make Palo res. for both DH and I and my in-laws. I don't want to miss anything in the other dining rooms, though, so how do I choose a night? Hi drl! I'm up at 1:00 a.m. too! LOL Then again, that's still a little early for me to go to bed! :) You should've been given a choice on your dining rotation when you made your reservations; at least, we were able to make them thru our TA. If you didn't, you might try calling your TA or Disney cruise line to see what they have available. I still don't know when we want to go to Palo's or the spa....sigh....choices, choices!

Morning. I know we have the late seating, which I understand has been moved from 8:30 to 7:45. ( We got a letter regarding this change in our docs. This suits us fine, but I wouldn't want to have the 5:30 seating! I'm assuming they have also changed the show schedules to match - does anyone know? )I was wondering how to figure out which dining rooms we would be in on which nights. I read somewhere about the different rotation schedules. I don't know how to decide which dining room, theme night, etc., to miss.

Marco, what part of Italy are you from? DH and I spent a week skiing in Courmayeur before our kids were born. So beautiful!!! When the kids get a little bigger we want to take them back and also see other parts of the country. We had them both on skiis last winter!:D

DHL is always very reliable and very on time (our US TA DHLled them to us).
WOW ... Laura is acting like this guy :Pinkbounc

drl:
we come from Milan (Northern Italy, approx 200 miles from Courmayeur) Glad you have nice memories about our country!
While we are on the cruise you are very welcome to ask any question could help programming your next Italian vacation with the kids!
Did you like Italian food? They say that Palo is featuring high cuisine from Northern Italy :D

Concerning "Rotation", the rule looks like:

· Have a lot of little ones...count on Animator’s, Parrot Cay then Lumiere’s.
· Have say 7-10 year olds...count on Parrot Cay, Lumiere’s and then Animator’s
· Have older teens, senior citizens, honeymooners, or just adults...count on Lumiere’s, Animator’s and then Parrot Cay.

So, drl, I assume you will be APLAPLA.

By the way with any rotation, day 4 (tuesday) will be the day when you will dine in the same restaurant that you see three times. We will go to PALO that day.

FYI --- Beachgirls mom and I went to Big Lots in Shawnee and just happened to find some sunscreen that is saltwater safe. It is called Iguana Sport and one of the girls that works in the store was from Hawaii and she said she used it all the time and it doesn't come off in the ocean like the other stuff. This will be very useful especially since we blistered on our last cruise while snorkeling. We looked very funny -- the front of us was white and the back of us was beat red and we were very sore. Thanks for the info on dinner - that makes it easier. Looks like Tuesday will be when we try for Palo's, too. We love Italian food; however, we rarely get to enjoy "real" Italian as we don't have many good restaurants where we live. We'll look forward to trying Palo's. Guess I'll start tomorrow trying to round up stuff to pack. With all the good ideas I've heard about things to take, ziplocs, coolers, etc., I wonder how we'll fit in any clothes!?!:p My boys are bouncing off the walls with excitement and we still have weeks to go! We're gonna go see Lilo & Stitch tomorrow - they might be running it on the ship, but I don't think we can wait. Maybe that will settle them down some! Talk to you later!

Gee, no posts from anyone for the last five days?? What has everyone been doing? Devin and Greg have been in swimming lessons this week (Greg actually got his face wet! LOL Devin's diving into the deep end trying to scare me!) I WAS going to go thru our cruise clothes today, but I took a nap instead... it's too hot to do anything else.

We're still waiting on our cruise docs here. I'm also still waiting to get Devin's birth certificate. I called the bureau in Texas responsible and they said give it another week, but she's "in the system." Whatever the heck that means....

The dog is sitting on my feet trying to get me to go feed her so I'd best hurry up before she takes a chunk out of my ankle! :)

Thanks Marco & Laura for the great site tip. It's nice to be able to get acclamated early! We saw Lilo & Stitch last week - the kids loved it. They hope it is running on the ship so they can see it again! I booked our shore excursions, too. Had to compromise and do things that suited all six of us. I'm sure we'll have a great time no matter what. Anyone doing the "Under 2 flags tour" on St. Maarten or the St. John tour? I figure we'll spend the afternoon on St. Thomas that day on our own as the St. John tour is during the a.m. My kids are a little small for snorkeling so all those were pretty much out. Maybe next time! :D Zoomommy, my boys are going to swim lessons next week. My four yr. old decided he was a fish, though, so he may not be in the right class level anymore! He went from not wanting to put his face in to staying under all the time in a matter of 3 days time. We joined a pool for the first time this year, so we've been going several times a week. It's amazing what a difference it has made in their confidence levels. By the time we leave for the cruise they may be ready to snorkel - who knows!?:smooth: Well, off to church for us - we had Bible school last week. The summer's flying by! Bye.:bounce:

I hear ya! Russell said absolutely not to liposuction for me... of course, that was many years ago and it doesn't still count, does it? All I know is, the swimsuit I ordered from Land's End does NOT make me look like the lady in the catalog.... That's why they put those pictures in there, isn't it? I look like this little "thing" :Pinkbounc Really, I do! LOL Actually, I don't much care any more - I'm 40, flabby and fabulous!

Everyone packed yet? ;)

Hey, drl, how'd your little one get to where he stayed under water? I even tried to bribe Greg with a huge Bionicle set if he'd hold his nose and jump off the side without holding the teacher's hand! LOL It didn't work, so he saved me some bucks, but still... Devin turned into the fish this time (which I never thought SHE'D do, either!) I was going to buy a membership to the community pool here, but we're going on this cruise instead! There's always next summer, though!

It's 95 degrees here today; please tell me it won't be this hot on the cruise....

Zoomommy, Chase just had to get over his fear of going under on his own. It wasn't anything I did. Last summer he took swim lessons and would get his face wet just for a second, but didn't really enjoy going under. I really think it was us going 3-4 times a week to the pool this year that did it. There's a large shallow end where he can touch bottom but still swim around if he wants to. We've always gone to the river all summer, but only on weekend afternoons. By the end of the day the kids would be more adventurous, but it was like starting over the next time we went. By going to the pool so often, it seemed like he retained more of his confidence from one visit to the next and was able to build on it rather than "start over". My oldest, Conner, pretty much did the same thing. One day he just decided he wasn't afraid to go under and from then on he's been a fish. So don't sweat it, I think they do it when they're ready. I don't think there's much you can do except to take them swimming as often as you can and encourage them.;)

About this weather, do we get to look forward to cool ocean breezes at least? It's been so hot here, we've been having severe thunderstorms several nights a week. DH and I are getting tired of cleaning up limbs from the yard!:( Two trees and an air conditioning unit in our neighborhood got struck by lightning this week! So I guess we should be thankful we just have fallen limbs. Check ya later!

We went through DCL to book our trip - but I'm sure your docs will be here shortly. You'll have to tell us all about yourselves. I'll be having a sign on the ship near Goofy's Family Pool that says "Beachgirls & Co. Party Here" so everyone that's joined in on this thread can find each other. I believe we are going to try and meet around 3:00 p.m. upon arrival on the ship.

Glad to have you aboard

Welcome aboard, Jami, Scott & Jazmyn! Now, Scott, unless you want to join Marco and Russell (my dh) as squalo (shark) food, you need to do EXACTLY as we women say and you can save your hide! ;) The rules are simple - hand over your cash, credit cards and traveler's cheques to Jami for "safekeeping!" The other Scott, Buzz and Doug need to pay attention, too! Where IS Buzz, anyway? I sure hope we didn't scare him off! Drl, you might wanna warn your dh, too! LOL I was talking to my MIL this morning telling her what we've been posting on here (and poor Marco has just about decided he's headed in the opposite direction) and I thought she was going to have a coronary from laughing! She did say, at first, that we couldn't toss Russell over, but after she thought about it, she volunteered to bring her large luggage carrier so we could handle our packages.... :jester: I just adore that woman!

Tyla, I think you'd better get a move on and get some luggage.... we ONLY HAVE about 25 more days and of course, you have to comparison shop and make sure that luggage will hold about 2000# and still roll. :D Russell has been making snide comments about whether or not Devin and I have finished our shopping for clothes (DUH... you'd think he'd know by now that women are NEVER finished shopping for clothes or jewelry...)

On an off note, I'd really appreciate prayers for my sister who will be having surgery tomorrow (she's severely obese and is having her stomach banded, whatever that is) She refused to have me come to Houston to stay with her because she didn't want me flying if there are any more cowardly attacks. So I will sit here and pray and probably cry because I didn't go anyway. She has plenty of help, but I've always panicked whenever my loved ones have been in the hospital and Dr. Tracy hasn't been there to mother them! LOL

Now I'm going to go sort thru our cruise stuff and see what can be discarded (certainly not mine or Devin's stuff!) :)

beachgirls
07-02-2002, 12:14 PM
My prayers are with you and your family. I know a lady here where I work at that had her stomach stappled due to obesity. It was a very hard surgery for her, but she made it through without complications. I'm glad your not flying around the 4th but I know you want to be there with her. They say, of course, that the 4th is not the best time to travel due to the terrorist stuff- but I think that can probably be said for anytime you fly not just the 4th.

Well, as far as my luggage I'm waiting on my SISTER!!! (do you hear that sis) my birthday was May 31 and I still have no luggage (LOL) I know she's been very, very busy and when we do go to shop, I pretty much put what I need on the back burner to get what my girls need. My oldest turns 16 in August so we're doing the car thing - just bought her the tiger/leopard (whichever) skin seat covers and steering wheel cover. - Next is tires, etc. never ending, but she deserves it as she's a good kid.

MARCO - POLO - even if you went to ALASKA - I'm sure we'd find you sooner or later!!!!!!

Tracy our prayers are with your sister and you. My SIL had it done about two years ago. It is very hard the first few weeks, a lot of vomiting (sorry). She lost one hundred pounds, and now needs to have a tummy tuck.
I am very large and short, but I don't think I could go through it. I am not to tough. I am sure your sis will do great, and she will enjoy the results:D
We did some of our shopping, but we didn't buy new clothes. Just bought the basic needs.
other than missing our documents we are ready.
Doug is back at work today after a two month layoff:bounce: At least the cruise is paid for.

Well, this is beginning to shape up like a cruise where the girls rule. Jazmyn and I are all for that. I am sure that Scott will set a good example for the other hubbies.

We are a little atypical in some aspects of our relationship. For one, he is usually trying to get me to spend money on myself. He usually says, "If you like it, buy it." (Send your DHs by for some lessons).

But he probably says it because I don't often take him up on the offer. If it's for the house...yes. If it's for Jazi...absolutely. If it's for me...well, sometimes. So even though we don't always have enough to go around (who does?) money & spending is not usually one of argument triggers.

 About us....

Scott and I are both computer technology professionals. I am more management, design, and architecture. Scott is more programming, databases, and backend structures.

I am very into Victorian/Art Deco period architecture, decorating, and culture. Scott is very into music (Chamber music to hard rock) and plays several instruments. I play some guitar, a smidgeon of hammer dulcimer, and like to sing. We both like to dance. All three of love all sorts of games and typically prefer parties with friends than the disco/night club scene. That gives you the overview.

If I haven't bored you to tears, we can learn more about each other on the trip. :smooth:

Hi again, Jami! It sounds like your family and ours have a lot in common! Russell is a project manager for SBC/Ameritech and is a mainframe programmer. Up until last September, he was a consultant with American Management Systems, but was laid off, along with most of their upper management. He'd already been working at SBC on a project that had just ended, so they were glad to hire him. I hope they'll transfer him to their HQ in San Antonio, TX one day so we can go home to Texas! Just remember that this is vacation and y'all can't sit around discussing COBOL, DB2, CICS or anything else related to work! :D Tyla and I will have no problem tossing you both into the pools, along with Marco and Russell! ;) Tyla and I both are SME's (Subject Matter Experts) on just how to dunk people! ;)

We like a lot of the same music, too. Unfortunately, Russell can't carry a tune in a barrel with the lid on. I was the worship leader for a while at the church we just left and I hope to get on with the worship band at our new church in a month or two. We also prefer having friends over for game night (that is, IF the house is presentable! Most times it's C.H.A.O.S. - Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome!)

My MIL is making the trip with us and I wish you could see her home. She has it all done in Victorian (it's not a Victorian, but I know it was built around 1920.) She also has a hammer dulcimer, but I won't venture a guess as to how well she plays! :D I can't decorate to save my life, but I'm really good at picking out good "oops" paint at Home Depot! LOL Russell and I both used to be subscribers to the theatre and symphony when we lived in Houston, but we haven't gone to any concerts/events here in Chicago because it's too hard to get downtown... Besides, he'll manage to get us lost! LOL

So now everyone knows about us - anyone else care to share? Please?!

Ooooh, Anne! You GO, girl! I'm glad you were able to convince Marco to leave us girls on the list! :D I still think it'd be nice to be not held accountable for our actions, though!!!

I really like the ice idea, Tyla! Then again, a wedgie might be better since the guys will probably be overheated from running away and will WANT ice at that point! LOL

On a more docile note, WE GOT OUR DOCS TODAY!!!! Yeeha! But I still don't have Devin's birth certificate. :( I can certainly vouch for who she is since I did happen to be there when she was born! LOL And she is my image all over again, too....

Still no word on how my sister fared with her surgery. I hate the waiting. I can't call anyone's cell phone in the hospital, but I'm sure someone will call as soon as they know. I appreciate the prayers for her (and I know she does, too!)

Time to go distract myself from thinking about her by reading our docs. That'll probably put me to sleep! LOL

Thanks to everyone for your prayers and good wishes! I just talked to my niece and she told me that JoLynn had her surgery today (it was laporascopic - sp?) and she was doing well! She sent everyone home except her dh, so I know she's looking forward to restful sleep for tonight, at least! LOL Now she'll be thin for the rest of her life and I will have to be jealous because I am NOT going to be willfully cut on...

Tracy, I'm so glad to hear that your sister fared well! She must be a very brave woman. I also know how stressful it is to be worried about a loved one - now you can relax and get ready for vacation!!:) :Pinkbounc :)

Hey guys - you better watch out - I think these ladies mean business!!

My girlfriends and I FINALLY got around to seeing "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" tonight. If any of you gals haven't seen it, it's GOOD. Talk about your man-bashing! That'll put you in the mood to throw some poor unsuspecting guy in the pool alright. At least these guys have been warned!;)

Hey I also went shopping today! Hecht's was having a big sale, plus there were extra 20% off coupons in the newspaper, so I went a little crazy! I don't shop for myself often, though, so it was a lot of fun! Now I'm definitely ready to cruise!! Of course, I could still use new shoes, maybe some jewelry .... ;) ;) This packing thing's got me a little worried, though. How in the world is all this stuff supposed to fit into 2 suitcases? That's going to have to be a problem for another day!

Cyberkashi

;)

The trick to the baggage limit is to travel with a DH and DK(s). Husbands and young children do not need 2 suitcases but they have a two suitcase allowance. There is NO rule on what has to be in THEIR suitcases.

I find that if I "share" my husband and daughter's second bag, we are all set.

Another baggage trick we use when we don't need 6 suitcasess (2x3) is to pack a collapsable case in a packed suitcase. That way at the end of the trip we can use it for dirty laundry or for purchases that we made.

Thanks a bunch for the good wishes! She's probably much better off not having me there; I'd MAKE her behave! LOL

Hey I also went shopping today! Hecht's was having a big sale, plus there were extra 20% off coupons in the newspaper, so I went a little crazy!

What the heck is Hecht's?! :p Pun intended! LOL We don't have those here, but we have KOHL'S!!!! Whoo-hoo! I love their clearance (esp. the 80% off times) I'm finding that I can't buy for the kids a year in advance now, though.... they're growing too fast. :( I bought Greg new school pants in August and by the end of October, they were all too short. If he takes after the men in my family (they range from 6'3" to 6'7") I think I'm going to be in trouble! Their pediatrician said Devin would probably be around 5'10" and Greg will be around 6'2 - gak! I remember my mom climbing onto a chair so she could whop my brother for backtalking her when he was about 17.... I guess I'd better learn from her! ;)

I don't know how I'm going to pack, but I know that I'M getting the largest suitcase we have! I think I need a case just for shoes! Russell and I both need black dress shoes, but trying to get HIM to go shopping is like pulling teeth. Incidentally, he pulled one of Devin's teeth tonight and we're saving it for the trip so that Tinkerbell can come with pixie dust (glitter) and leave MAGICal Disney dollars for it! We figure the tooth fairy won't know she lost a tooth if it's not under her pillow. :D

It's 2:00 a.m. and I'd better get myself to sleep to dream MAGICal things!

I can definitely see the benefits of "sharing" luggage!:D DH doesn't get it yet - I've started putting some things together and I can see the pile multiplying, but he's still in the "We're only going for 7 days" mode. LOL. The six of us are driving down from Richmond in our Honda minivan. He thinks everyone's luggage will fit in the back!! HA! I think we'll end up with a turtle-top thingy. He'll see!!

Hecht's is like Kohl's, only a little bigger. We have Kohl's here, too. I usually find more for the kids there than for me, though. I know what you mean about the kids outgrowing their clothes! We used to pass Conner's clothes down to Chase, but now Chase is wearing mostly the same size as Conner. And, Conner has to have "slim" pants and Chase doesn't - so now they can't share pants!:( We think Chase will soon surpass Conner in the size department. We've warned Conner for years that he'd better not bully his "little" brother, because the day would come when Chase is bigger than him. LOL. I love the Tinkerbell tooth fairy idea! Conner lost his first two teeth a couple of weeks ago. He caught the tooth fairy off guard - she only had a $5 bill!! Now, the precedent has been set. The poor tooth fairy will have to declare bankruptcy by the time both boys finish losing all those golden teeth!!:D :D

Well, we're off to the river for the 4th. We're supposed to have a heat index today of 105!! YIKES!! The river water will probably feel like a warm bath. We can always ride around in the boat and create a little breeze I guess. Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday weekend!! Talk to you later.

Dena, you might just have to pack Noal on the top of that minivan. We have two minivans and even with our "bigger" one, with 4 adults, we couldn't get all the luggage in the back. Besides, you're going to be bringing treasures back. ;)

I can't believe the heat wave that has come across the country. I kinda suspected we would have a hard summer since we didn't have much of a winter, but boy, this is ridiculous. The kids don't even want to play outside in the sprinkler (which is the only way I can get the grass watered since we're restricted right now.) I can only remember 1 week last summer of temps around 100, but we're going on 2 weeks so far. And my brother lives outside San Antonio, TX where they've had horrible flooding. I wish he could send some rain our way....

I have to take Devin for a tetanus booster tomorrow. :( She was on rollerblades and slipped yesterday when she got up from sitting on our neighbors rusty boat trailer (which is NOT supposed to be on the driveway) and now has about a foot-long scrape/gash down the middle of her back. OUCH! All the kids like to get on it, but at least my two knew they weren't allowed to get on it because I'd told them. So I guess I'm going to have to keep both kids in the house, sitting on the couch from now until we leave! LOL

I think I did a boo-boo the other day. Russell swears that I got confirmation of our 2 excursions from Disney, but I say we only got brochures from our TA, so I tossed them. Uh-oh, now I have no idea what I threw out.... So I had to call DCL this morning and they're going to fax our confirmations. I cancelled our bikes and floats for CC, since I found out yesterday that we get a 10% discount if I wait until we're onboard to book. Every little bit helps! Well, the fax just came and I haven't seen those pages, so I guess I'm in the clear - I didn't throw out anything important! :D Whew! LOL

I hope everyone is having a cool 4th of July! I can't help but think of the movie, Independence Day, (I just love Bill Pullman and I thought he made a pretty good president!) And I WILL vote for Harrison Ford (Air Force 1) if he ever runs! Can y'all tell that I need to pay more attention to political matters? That's Russell's job and he just LOVES having to explain things to me, over and over and over and over.... etc!

Been out of town helping a family member move. It's only 120 miles from San Diego but the temp. is 105-108 and going UP. The thermometer in my car registered 133!!!
Well, Marco, you managed to get yourself out of that mess, didn't you. If you took this grandma off the list, you'd be in big trouble. Ask the kids-grandmas rule. I'll be happy to bring you a warm beer when I see you. Hurricanes, huh? Earthquakes I know about but not those gusty guys.
Cruella, it's not too late for lipo.
;) Tee hee.
Did you guys read the tip on the floats at Castaway Cay? Seems the rental price is 6 bucks. It was suggested you buy your own at the 99 cent store. Also easier to spot your kid on your float.
Got our docs today-finally!!! We are in cabin 2519. Next to the crew.
If you think you are having fun packing for one cruise, I'm packing for two!!!! We'll arrive back in San Diego late afternoon Sat. On Monday am, I fly to London and then straight thru to Venice to board the Golden Princess for 12 days in the mediterranean. Having a ball picking the shore tours now. Rome and Venice are 2 of the cities so I hope to pick up a few catchy phrases from Laura. I don't trust you anymore, Marco.
Hope both your sister and Devin are feeling better, Tracy.
Welcome to Cyberkashi. Your Jazmyn will love being with Kylie, also 5-1/2.

Hi Linda! Glad to see you back! :D Boy, you've got the high temps out there. I guess on the cruise it'll be cold for you!

Thanks for your kind thoughts to Devin and my sister! Devin didn't even know when she was getting her shot today and my sister refused all pain meds.... I wish I had their tolerance.... I stub my toe and it hurts for a week, it seems! LOL

I know nothing about earthquakes, but I've lived thru several hurricanes, tropical storms and horrible flooding. I also got to meet a real live blizzard right after we moved up here. I will take my chances with any of those rather than an earthquake! :D My sister is convinced that California is going to fall into the ocean one day. If it does, it'll happen while she's on a trip there! She's a walking Murphy's Law! I'll be sure to make her stay in Houston!

Gosh, y'all, only 20 more days until we cruise - yippee! I've got to get crackin' with the packin'.... Tyla, you HAVE gotten your luggage, haven't you???? :bounce: I like putting these guys in these messages, they stop bouncing on the screen and it's hilarious to see what position they stop in!

Grandmalinda,

Laura says that if you have a chance to spend a few hours in Venice, take a trip on a GONDOLA. They are pricey but worthy.

The pole used to move the gondolas gave the name to our restaurant on the Magic (PALO). The Magic was built by Fincantieri (an Italian ship builder) just a few miles from Venice.

GrandMalinda,

I copied the manefesto from the board and highlighted all the little kids. I know Jazi will want a headstart on making friends and will very much want to meet your Kylie.

Jazi tells me that she plans to spends most of her time in the "Kid's Night Club" and the Mickey pool. She would plan and run all of our time if we let her.

Buying our last minute items for the cruise and park visits we have scheduled before and after the cruise. Still haven't got our docs yet but I called Disney and they told me they have been mailed. I won't get REALY nervous for another few days yet.

I hope our passports arrive. DH sent his only copy of his raised seal birth certificate to get the passport. I have concerns they won't let him on the ship with just a photocopy. And he waited until the last moment to get the passport.

Men...such a challenge.

ZooMommy
07-06-2002, 03:33 PM
We finally got Devin's birth certificate - yeeha! The only problem is that I really can't "feel" the raised seal on it. :( I sure hope that doesn't create a problem... there's no way I could counterfeit it; it's printed on paper with several different colors in it and across the top on the back is some sort of "raised" symbols. I'm trying not to worry! It does have a stamp on it showing June 26th as the date it was printed; I promise, Disney, she does belong to me! ;)

Target has 50% off their July 4th/Fresh Squeezed summer stuff. I got Devin and myself snorkeling gear without the fins. I can handle renting those, but the thought of renting the snorkel itself bothered me. I wouldn't want to put something in my mouth that has been in someone else's....ewwww! If anyone needs anything, that 50% price is going to change on Monday - it'll be 75% then and 90% off on Wednesday (but they didn't have enough snorkel stuff, but lots of dinnerware, toys and clothing!)

Jami, I know what you mean about Jazi wanting to plan all your time... I had to emphasize to my kids that we were going to have dinner together every night and go to the show together! :D I know they're going to be SO tired (and cranky) after we get home. Devin starts cheerleading camp the Monday after we get back and she's already dreading having to get up early to get there... me, too! The 3 of us (Greg, too!) are not morning people.... Poor Russell and Shirley, they're going to have to be in such close quarters with us!

We got a break in the heatwave, finally! It's only going to be 84 today and Russell is smoking a real Texas brisket that I brought back after spring break! Yummy! Now I have to go make potato salad to go with it - that kinda cooking I can do! Y'all come on up for dinner! :D

Still no doc's for us. I sure hope they come soon. I will hope for Monday's mail. Did yours come in the mail, since you went through AAA ?

Hi Anne! Glad to see you're back; I still have to reply to your emails.... we've been painting the front porch this week and I'm really only checking this board since I'm too tired to do much else! Russell has finally decided that it's probably better to hire someone to paint the exterior...DUH! I TRIED to tell him BEFORE we started....He is NOT getting on the roof to paint the window trim, though; at least, I didn't have to talk him outta that!

Dinner is going to be a little late tonight; he forgot about the coals burning and had to pile more on! MEN! ;) That'll give y'all more time to get here!

Thanks for reassuring me about Devin's b/c.... I don't think I'll ever do well as an international traveler! Best for me to stay on one continent, I guess! I'm only bringing umbrellas with us, but I might have pocket poncho's around somewhere in this wreck... I'll have to search!

I looked at weather.com and one of the 2002 Atlantic hurricane names is MARCO! How funny is that? We'll already have one with us; we don't need the other one! :)

drl
07-06-2002, 09:25 PM
Hurricane Marco huh?? That's some coincidence. What do you think Laura, is it an omen? ;) I hadn't really thought about rain gear, but with a sign like that maybe I should. Hey, come to think of it, I do have 14 bucks worth of rain ponchos from the zoo in D.C. where we went a few weeks ago. They have pictures of the pandas on them, but they'll do in a pinch. I sure hope Noal didn't throw them away!!

Thanks for the tip about Target - I have to go there tomorrow, so I'll check it out. Before, I've taken my receipt in when something I've bought has gone on sale shortly after I've bought it and they've refunded the difference. So it might be worth it to buy what you want now and try to get some cash back when the sale drops more later. That way you don't have to worry about them running out of the good stuff. I'm gonna check to see if they have one of those "soft-side" turtle-top things. I think I finally have Noal convinced we're gonna need one! He usually realizes I'm right eventually - I don't know why he bothers to fight it at all!!:D LOL. Just kidding, honey.

Bye for now.

I have this mental picture of Marco walking around with cork plugs stuck somewhere.... Now you can all join me in that picture so I don't have to be alone! ;) Russell is the one who MUST be allergic to me... he has sneezing fits a lot! LOL They say you marry a man like your dad and he is very much like my dad was (Dad could blow you out of the house with his sneezes, but I think it was more for fun that he was quite loud!) I miss my daddy so much, next Friday (7/12) will be the 2nd anniversary of his passing. We buried him on the 14th, which would've been my mom's 76th birthday (she died not quite 6 months earlier than my dad) I thought it was neat that we "packaged" Dad up and sent him to her! :D What else do you give the woman with everything?!

Dena, Target changed their return policy. If it's clearanced and there's nothing wrong with it, you can only get back what the current price is. :( I just hope they still have those rolling Coleman coolers. I'd LOVE to get one for $5 (75% off) Wish me luck!

And if you can get Noal to get one of those luggage carriers for your car, PLEASE let me know how you "persuaded" him. Russell absolutely refuses to get one....

OK, 19 days. The packing pressure's mounting (I won't pack till week of, but I'm thinking a little) and the excitement is building. I'm looking forward to not cooking a meal, not washing a dish, not vaccuming a dog hair, not doing a thing except relax, have fun, be entertained, eat great food, check out some new scenery and shop (for perfume jewelry, no less).

I will be putty in Mickey's hands.

Okay, I went to Target. They had next to nothing left! And it was only on 30% clearance! They did have the cargo carrier, but I think I saw it advertised for less somewhere else. I'll head to the other store later today to see if I can save a few dollars.

Tracy, I think what convinced Noal that we are going to need one was seeing the HUGE pile of stuff I have started putting together to take! LOL. I have pretty much gotten myself packed, except for the shorts and shirts I'll be wearing for the next 3 weeks. I'll be the one to have to pack everyone else, so I figured I'd get my own packing out of the way so it won't be so much to do at one time. I've got to go through all the boy's clothes - I just know their pants aren't going to fit. I'll be doing more shopping I guess. We're starting swim lessons this morning, but this afternoon I'll try to get the boys to try on some things. That should be fun.:( They just LOVE trying on clothes. Right. I told Noal to start thinking about what he was going to take in case there is something that needs to go to the cleaners. He just groaned. :D

Oh well. It'll all get done. Then I can relax and let someone else worry about everything for a change!! I can't wait - I feel like this guy :Pinkbounc

Hey Tracy, great minds must think alike. I went to the Disney store today and bought some of the little things for 75% off! I thought I'd maybe leave one on each of the boys' pillows at night, kind of like a little gift from Mickey. I'm hoping that will keep us from having to do too much souvenir shopping on the ship. Not that I mind the shopping, just that I'm sure the Disney logo stuff will be super expensive.

Welcome to the new families!! Looking forward to meeting you!

I have been glued to the computer since finding this site yesterday - great info!! My first goal was to find out about the quality of the excursions offered on the cruise. Right now my husband has signed up for the scuba in St. Maarten - anyone else going?

Also, I am very excited about meeting everyone at 3:00 by the pool. Will this give us enough time with the Lifeboat Drill - where does that happen?? See you all soon!!!:bounce:

Hi Luckymom! Glad you can holler on here now! :D Welcome aboard! What are the ages of yours and Marla's kids? Greg's hoping for some more 6yo boys! LOL

I went to the Disney store today and couldn't find any good trinkets... rats! They had a lot of mini beanies in costume (Chinese year of whatever) but we sure don't need any more stuffed critters around here.

Is anyone going thru A Perfect Gift (Shirley's site) for cruise baskets? I'm sending her a beach bucket with lots of little things in it for the kids. The only thing she needs to add to it will be snacks and water bottles (I still haven't gotten used to the idea of drinking sea water, even if it has been cleaned up!) I got the kids some beach towels (on sale, of course!) and 1 mini beanie each. Hopefully, that'll keep my cost down, although she does have very good prices.

My MIL informed me today that she has to have a wheelchair for getting around, so we'll need to take ours with us. Has anyone any experience with taking something like that? Surely it doesn't count as a piece of luggage, would it? I'd be more inclined to rent one, but she's concerned about the cost.

Anyone heard anything about what movies are going to be playing on board? We hope Country Bears will be on there since it opens the 26th; it looks cute!

Talk to y'all later, taters! :smooth:

Good Morning everyone!:D We are so looking forward to meeting everyone.
Luckymom tell us about your family. Our daughter Paige is 8 1/2 now and our son Ian is 4 1/2 now. We just celebrated their half birthday's so they are offical. LOL

We are winging it on our own, instead of excursions, so we will see what happens:confused:

Hope all have a great day and we'll see you all REALLY soon.:bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Hi Everyone! I've sent Marco the info directly, as before I was having trouble posting. But now, for the rest of you! We are Colleen and Terry of Florida (not so sunny at this time). We have three kids, DD Shannon 12.5, DD Taylor 9, and the best of all Michael 14mo. Our friends, Marla and Paul are also on the cruise with their DD Ashley 10 and DS Paul 8. I am as excited as the rest of you about this cruise and I'm so thankful to the Beachgirls for starting this thread. I've been telling my family about all of you and the're starting the get to know you like I do. Shannon is very happy to hear that there are other 12.5 y/o DDs, and Paul was hoping for more boys as he is always outnumbered. My kids are planning on doing the Lab most of the time and are hoping for Lilo and Stitch at the movies!! Marla and I are looking forward to the beaches. Has anyone found a nice beach in St. Martin that does not have a bundh of naked people? Also, to ldb1030, what are you planning on doing with Will? Since I am a stay at home mom, Michael has never been to a daycare setting and I don't know how I will deal with it. Well, i hope the weather is better at sea that it has been here - I can't believe how much rain we have had.
I'm still looking for scuba divers :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc:Pinkbounc

As far as birth certificates, mine do not have a raised seal, but they all have a watermark or purple ink, or something like that. Has anyone found out about how exactly a cert has to be prepared?

I'm so excited!! I can't wait to see the sun!!

Hi luckymom!

Well, Will is the BRAND NEW son of my sis and her partner! They adopted him from Ukraine and have just been back in the states with him since June 19th! He is a doll and totally a member of our family! He is very tiny for 20months so he and Michael might just have alot of fun playing around!
Last time we talked about it, they do not plan on putting him in Flounders just because it's too soon! He's just getting adjusted to his new family and very well I must say! I think he'll mostly be hanging out with all of us! Between all the family members going, SOMEONE will gladly be with him!

:D
Do you have 1st or 2nd seating?

luckymom
07-10-2002, 11:51 AM
Hi Lisa! We have second seating and from what I can tell we will have the APLAPLA seating. Will sounds adorable!! Is he walking yet? That's Michael new thing. I'm considering Flouders but I think he can also go to the Club as long as I am with him. I'm kind of anxious about Flouders, has anyone heard anything?

luckymom! I know they'll take advantage of the family time! He love getting on the floor and playing!
He is not walking yet but pretty darn close! He does great of course if we are holding hands!:D
We have 1st seating and I won't even guess what rotation we'll get since we have a baby AND seniors! We'll just be happily surprised with whatever we get!;)
also, I've never heard anything bad about Flounders but we've never experienced it!

Hey Luckymom - My DD, Taylor, will totally enjoy meeting your 9 year old DD, Taylor - that will make for great times ahead.

I'm so glad I started this thread also - we've all met new and exciting friends and we just can't wait to meet everyone.

I think all our kids will have their own club going before the cruise is over with!!!!

Hi Colleen! Sorry, no scuba divers in our family, but Devin and I will be snorkeling on Castaway Cay, though! :D Devin is 11.5 and she's glad to hear that Ashley, Shannon and Taylor are in her age group! Although Devin was mostly excited about Michael and Will! LOL She'll make a wonderful mom someday! I'm a stay-in-the-minivan mom and my kids didn't go to daycare until they were about 3, but it was always with our church so they knew all the kids and adults that were with them. I take that back, Greg was an extremely difficult baby (major colic and tummy problems) so he went once a week for 6 weeks during the summer when he was 6 months old! :D I needed a break back then!

I don't know about your birth certs; I'd think you'll be ok if they're printed with ink that you wouldn't normally have on a regular printer and, of course, the watermark should make a difference. Devin's b/c from Texas doesn't have a round raised seal on it, but it has a date stamp on it from June 2002, so I'm hoping they won't refuse her....

Tyla, have you gotten luggage yet???? Grab your sis and get goin', girl! Time's a'wastin' now.... :D I guess I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and scrounge around in the basement for ours. Maybe Russell and I should draw straws! ;) It'd be nice to be able to walk thru my bedroom without tripping over stuff!!! I was teasing Russell and I told him I was going to bring a steamer trunk for my stuff; he actually thought I bought one! He wanted to know which kid would be carrying it... I let him stew on it for a while before I told him I hadn't! I'm so mean to him! :bounce:

Well, I've got a carry bag on at least but nothing else!! I'm going to try and get one of those shoe holders to put on the bathroom door! I'm pushing my sis, but I think I'll have to just go get one while I'm out - we've both got so much going on in our work world and plus, I'm leaving several days before she is anyway to get out to Florida. But I'll be ready by the time we leave on the 24th I'll guarantee you that much! I may have to put it all in a big huge black trashbag LOL but I'll get there!!! LOL

LuckyMom - I just told my dauther about your Taylor - and she practically screamed in my ear with joy - but she's worried that she won't be in her "club" group due to her age - but I told Taylor that she could still do things with her outside the club if she didn't stay in the club all the time. She's also glad to hear another 10 year old (Ashley) will be on board as well. My sister (paintballbusters) husband and her son who's 15 are going scuba diving but I can't remember which island. I'll have to get her back on the board to tell you. Her hubby and son got scuba certified about a month ago.

I had to get my birth certificate from Texas also but along with original kind, I bought the wallet kind as well - I'm taking both as I don't know what they'll say about the wallet size one that I got. It would be perfect in my wallet. I don't think anyone will have any trouble with the birth certificates - I would imagine they've seen all kinds.

Does anyone out there planning on going to the gym or workout room - I've been trying to workout at the gym on my lunch hours and I want to continue on the ship, but I'm going to do it early in the mornings so as not to disturb the rest of my fun filled days!!!

I guarantee the food I plan on eating I'd better do a crash diet before I leave LOL SOMETHING ABOUT those cookies everyone's talking about on these boards - gosh - I've already gained a couple of pounds just thinking about them!!!

Been re-reading prior posts and taking notes. Came across one that said we could reserve the dining rotation by calling 1-800-395-9374. I've read that Lumiere's is the place to be on our formal night (Sun.) so the dining order would be PLAPLAP. I phoned and spoke to a really nice woman who said she would send an email to the dining dept. requesting that rotation. She also said she would request early dining. She also assured me there would be no problem reserving excursions once on board. Linda

Why does it make a different where you eat on what night ? Is there some special reason to be in a particular restaurant on a particular night - I'm a first timer remember so I dont' know!

I have no idea, Tyla! I just want us to be in Parrot Cay for tropical night (Tuesday) They won't be able to differentiate between us and the parrots! ;) I'm on the phone with them now - she's emailing them to tell them we want the PLAPLAP rotation - keepin' our fingers crossed!!!!

Okay - I was afraid there was something I didn't know about. I guess I don't really care where I go but your probably a head of the game by being where you want to be on a particular night. Thanks for the info - I'll have to give my sis a call and find out what we're doing. Thanks,

MICKEY'S DREAMERS
07-10-2002, 02:53 PM
If I understand correctly, dinners will be the following:

Saturday: "Your Restaurant"
Sunday: Formal (Master Chef dinner)
Monday: "Your Restaurant"
Tuesday: Tropical
Wendesday: "Your Restaurant"
Thursday: Semiformal (Captain Gala dinner)
Friday: It's a Small World (food from several countries)

"Your Restaurant" means that the dinner will be specific of the restaurant where you will be that evening.

So "Your Restaurant" means:
"The color changes" at the Animator
An elegant dinner at Lumiere
Caribbean food at Parrot Cay

So with this information  you can decide which rotation you like best! :p
Ciao
Marco & Laura;)

We are going all out with Doug in a tux and I have bead dresses. Even the little ones are going to be decked out!:D Ian looks so precious in his Tux and Paige in her long gown.
This maybe our only chance at a really formal picture, so we are going for it.:bounce:

Hi Laura,
Terry is wearing his tux and I have a long gown. It will be fun to get dressed up! :D

For all the birth cert questions, I called Dan at the Documentation Center for DCL and he stated that a cert with a watermark or a certification stamp is fine. Not all states have "little bumps" on their certificates. So we're good there!

As for excursions - Lisa, we will also be on the under 2 flags while Terry is diving in St. Martin. Beachgirls, did you find out where your group is diving?:smooth:

And Marco, how do you know so much about the DCL? Have you been on the cruise before?

BTW - the sun was out for a short time this am in south Florida. I sure am getting tired of all this rain - Can't wait to catch some rays!!!

Hey everybody. Laura, I'm taking a black velvet and satin gown (not long), a long black satin gown, and a black dress with deep red lace overlay that can go either formal or not. Am I overdoing it? I figured two formal nights, plus Palo's is formal, right? Noal does not plan on taking a tux, but is planning to wear dark suits. The boys have dark navy suits they will have to wear twice, I guess, with different shirts and ties. We don't get a lot of chances to really dress up except for around the holidays, so I'm kind of looking forward to it.:D

Hi Lisa. We will be on the Under 2 Flags tour as well. There are six of us - Noal, myself, two boys, and my in-laws. So we'll see you there!:)

Well, if I find any more stuff to pack there won't be room in the van for all of us. Someone told me to just plan on wearing the same clothes more than once so I wouldn't have so much to pack. I don't know about the rest of you moms, but my clothes don't tend to stay clean through one wearing, much less two. Invariably, one child or the other will wipe his hands, face, nose, whatever on me at some point. And I sure don't want to spend my time doing laundry. I'd rather take everything I own and wash it all when I get home! I broke down and bought the cargo carrier at Target. Tracy agrees that Noal has to have somewhere to ride!! LOL.

Our plan is to drive from Richmond to Jacksonville on Friday. We're thinking that we'll have about two more hours of driving on Saturday to the port. Does that sound right?

Talk to you later.

Gee, it sounds like all the ladies like to dress up, but not me! I must not be a "lady!" ;) I will be in formal wear, but I will not like it while I'm in it... my idea of dressing up is making sure my jeans don't have holes in them.... Russell is taking his one black suit with different shirts and ties, Devin is a lady and wants to dress up and so is Granny. Greg couldn't care less just as long as dessert is served! LOL Do we have to wear semi-formal to Palo's?

Laura, I got your "Italian" email and was busy looking up words, but I don't think I got them all! Is "forti" the plural of "forte?" I couldn't find forti in my book... AOL has been giving me fits for the last couple of days so I don't think the problem with email is on your end. AOL hates me.... That's ok, I'm tempted to cancel it....

Good night, y'all!

Hi, Marco and everyone Yes, I'm finally getting it together for my two back to back cruises. I've traveled a lot and haven't needed half the stuff I hear I need....bubbles, fan, 99 cent rafts, ext. cord, lanyards, business cards, comb for braids, underwater cameras, air freshener, aloe vera, water shoes, Downey wrinkle releaser, OFF repellent, ear plugs, expandable accordian file, baggies, xtra hangers, shoe hanger for door, binoculars, a pillowcase, yada, yada, yada. Then again, I've never been on a Disney cruise before!
For the formal night I'm wearing a Jean-Louis Scherrer couture long black gown I bought in Paris for a Millennium gala. Don't know where I'll wear it again except on these two cruises. Might as well get some use out of it. I better check and see what the girls are wearing.
Today, Marco, I was on a gondola ride in San Diego!!!! A group of us took real Italian gondolas with singing gondoliers (???), wine and appetizers thru some "canals". We could have stayed all day. Hard to believe that on Aug. 7th, I'll be in Venice, Italy on another gondola ride. The excursion is 40 mins. thru the canals, Murano glass factory, Doge's palace, St. Mark's Sq. Also doing a "Hidden Venice walking tour" to Campo San Polo, Riva del Vin, Church of La Pieta, Campo San Giovanni e Paolo, etc. Two days after I return from the 2nd cruise, I'm going to my high school reunion. Of course, I'll be waddling. In a muu-muu. :Pinkbounc

We were not going to take formal wear but now I am rethinking. I have a sequined gown but Scott no longer fits into his tux and the rental is too expensive for a dinner. For the same money we can buy him another suit (almost) and I think we will do that.

:o We have late seating, and I am thinking about requesting the PLAPLAP rotation so that we will be on the same rotation as many of you. I do like being in the tropical restaurant on Tropical night, but the formal night I could take or leave. We are spending three days in Disney before the cruise and 6 days after the cruise so I really don't need more to pack.

 I have read some discussion about the excursions. We are going to hte butterfly farm in St. Martin. I have been to St. Martin a couple of times before but only on the Dutch side. I have been told that the French side is much more interesting.

In St. Thomas, Jazi & I will walk through town and go shopping. Scott wants to take the Submarine tour/ride.

We don't plan to book a trip on the Cay--just snorkel and play in the ocean.

 Anyone with similar plans as ours for the islands?
