View Full Version : What I Can't Wait For...... (sorta long)

As I was driving down the interstate yesterday, with all of the windows down and the sunroof open (It was 80 degrees in Chicago!!), I spent some time thinking about things. I have a six disc CD changer in my car and the Millenium Celebration CD came on. And as it always seems to happen, I began thinking about WDW. So I cranked the volume up, jammed the accelerator down, pushed the Jetta to 85 mph, and played the "air drums" to the beat of "Tapestry of Nations".
For the past 5 years, I have been on a Disney trip, or at least had the reservations for a trip in the future. In fact, I haven't NOT been to WDW in May since 1998. But after DISCON, I still did not have a job, and any thoughts of a future Disney trip were put on indefinite hold. This all changed when I was hired back by my employer in January, (Which is going great - the company is expanding by hiring more engineers as I write this). I guess what I am trying to say is that I have had the WDW itch so bad ever since I left for home when DISCON I ended.
Now someone on this board (Barry???) or on one of the other boards wrote in a post that in one of the theaters at DD, there is a digital projector, and being the huge Star Wars fan I am, it made that itch to go to WDW even stronger. Being the penny pinching traveler that I am, I made plans to take a long solo weekend at WDW to take in Star Wars weekend, watch the movie, buy/trade some pins, and scratch that WDW itch. I decided to take the plunge and will be down in WDW for 5 nights, 5/16-21.
Now don't get me wrong, I am planning on having a blast during my May trip in WDW. But, and more to the point of this post, there are are ton of things that I can't wait to do once I get back to WDW, and especially when I go back to DISCON.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Things I can't wait for at WDW.....
1. Greet everyone I met last year.
2. Sing at Jellyrolls, and sing karaoke at Kimonos.
3. Experience WDW with all of the DIS people I met last year at DISCON I.
4. Experience WDW with all of the DIS people I am going to meet at DISCON II.
5. Laugh, laugh, laugh.
6. Hear everyone else laugh, laugh, laugh.
7. Take pictures (and remember not to take any incriminating pics this time :) :) :) ).
8. Watch the best show WDW has ever put on, Illuminations, with everyone I met last year at DISCON I, and the group that I will meet at this year's event, and hopefully not tear up when it is over.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is there something that you can't wait for??

Brian, I'm so glad you're going to WDW 10 days from now!
I agree with all your sentiments! Since I will be solo for DIS-CON this time, I hope to spend a LOT more time hanging out with DIS people. :)
Brian!!!!
All of what you said holds true for me, but taking incriminating pictures. I would never do such a thing...shame on you  ;) :D One of the things I am looking forward to the most is seeing the great group of people from last year. The friends made in that short span of time, are priceless to me. We had such a blast, I can not wait to do it again.
By the way, ask Mackey and PatrickIL I cried everytime we were at Illuminations. I plan on crying again! :)

Brian- Its funny you bring this up. Ellen and I went down to the world about two months ago, an adults only trip. I rememeber showing her all the places and sharing all the experences that we all shared during discon. Our next trip is not until Discon. I look forward to her meeting so many of the friends I talk about. She has met a large portion of the Illinois group, also has met Barb and TC and SSB. She has talked on the phone to my Boston buddies. I hope she will meet more of our group in July. I also know she will love Decemeber also :)
Just the cool things we did, the private seating for Illuminations and fantasmic, the thrill tours, The keys tour, Jellyrolls and Kimonios, Lunch at Norway, desserts at France, DATW, and on and on. It will defininatly be better the second time, we are pros now ;) I can not wait either :)

Oh gosh....you guys have me so excited I can't stand it !!!! I can't wait to meet everybody. And Glo you aren't the only one that cries at Illuminations. Of course, I cry at the drop of a hat at WDW. I'm a down right blubbering idiot half the time I'm there. But, Illuminations and TOD are really, really moving.
And Bri....you'd better watch that driving at 85 mph business. We want you at DISCON in one piece!!!!

You know what's really bad? I tear up everytime I hear the Illuminations music now. I know it's probably silly, but it brings back such wonderful memories of great times and meeting so many incredible people.....and Marsha yelling "Remember this moment forever!" on the French Island after Illuminations.
Don't worry Marsha. That special night is in my head and heart forever.
::sniffle:: :D
Gee whiz, Brian, you got me tearing up already! ;) :)
I can't wait:
to see all the great friends I made last year and give them all a great big hug!
to meet some wonderful new friends and give them all a great big hug!!
to share some great meals at the special restaurants all over WDW.
to ride all the rides with all my friends. "Howdy, Folks!"
to laugh ourselves silly just like we did last year. (resulting in all of us losing our voices!!)
for DATW, Karoke, Jellyrolls-some of the best times ever!
to stand arm in arm and sway to the finale at Illuminations. (pass the tissues, please)
to walk around the boardwalk area late at night (heading back to my room after Kimono's or Jellyrolls) when it's so peaceful and pretty and there's no one else around-it's one of my fondest memories. :D
to have some new and wonderful memories to take home with me this time, too!!!!!!

OK.. you guys are making me sniffle too.. I cannot wait for DisCon.. I think we had a great time last year and I know you can never go back, but you can go forward and make even more lasting friendships and enjoy special nights in a different way... I will remember that special Illuminations night.. I had always wanted to do that kind of event, it was the first thing I asked for when we were putting DisCon together.. It was truly special..
Brian. I am going to miss you by a few days, darn it, I would have loved to have seen you before DisCon.. :(

This is a really neat thread. :) I'm so happy for you Brian. Say 'hi' to Mickey for me. :) While we were there last week, I found myself telling DH ALL about DIS-Con......more than he probably needed/wanted to know. :o ;)
I look forward to seeing all of you again and doing all of the same wonderful things together. :)

That's nice, Brian, very nice. :) So well said. :)
(...another person tearing up joins the group...) Yes to all of the above, Brian.
I am so looking forward to seeing everyone again.....it's hard to explain how "special " so many of you have become to me. Also, given that we did meet last year, we can get right to "partying" and skip the "getting to know you" time!!
Now as for the "newbies"!!! I think that those of us returning will make it easier for them to "jump right in", 'cuz as I said above, we will arrive ready to GO, GO, GO !!!!!!
I can't wait to meet the "new" attendees !!!!!! Some of them already feel like "old friends"
(and "partners in crime"to me!-----Hi Beanie!!! ):bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
Anyway, I can't wait !!!!!!
Ohhhhhhhhhhh yes........and of course, DATW Redux!!!

Smee you are about to be DISowned....lol

As one of the "newbies" attending this year, I just can't wait to meet everyone! I've been reading all your posts and Barb showed me all her pictures when she was here last weekend. So now when I"m here I can actually put faces to everyone. You all had so much fun...I just can't wait!!!

Hey, Brian. I just read and signed up for your fishing trip...lol.
If I wasn't working every week-end, I'd go down to WDW DD with you to watch "Star Wars", too.
What a great combination...WDW and the new Star Wars movie. It's suppose to be great.
I've missed WDW and DIS-CON, too.
I keep dreaming of being down in the magical Walt Disney World. Walking through the gates of the Magic Kingdom and under the railroad station...and then...you see Mainstreet and te castle.
Or watching the Spectromagic parade and tinkerbell flying down from the castle over to Cosmic Ray's to get a hamburger ...lol...j/k...before the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks go off with the castle in the back ground.
All the...ooooohhhhhhs and aaaahhhhhhsss...lo.
Then slowly walking down Mainstreet as the park closes.
Yes, I dream of that magical place. I'm just a big kid at heart.
Thank you for the DIS, Pete.
Ray :)

Well... being a newbie to DIS CON... I am looking forward to the expert guidance of all you pros...and:
Laughing until my stomach hurts and I can't breathe :D
Hugging my DIS friends FOR REAL! Tired of offering up cyber hugs - I like the real thing!
DATW
Adventurers Club
Thrill Ride adventures!
MVMCP - I have NEVER been to WDW during the holidays - really looking forward to this!
Spending time with folks who "get it" - and I mean "REALLY GET IT"!

Last time I was there (Feb) watching Illuminations I noticed the older gentleman next to me mezmorized, jaw dropped, with tears streaming down his face. It was the look of someone experiencing it for the first time. I just choked back my own tears and breathed in the magic.
I can't wait to see Illuminations again with you guys. Like Dixie Dreamer said, "people who really get it".

Its been a *really* long time since I've been to WDW with anyone who is as truly in love with the place as I am. So I can't wait to share WDW with people who understand--no need to explain about the magic or the pure amazement that makes us stop in our tracks as we catch that first glimpse of the castle each trip. And all those little things, like the laughter and the friendship and the memories will just fall into place because of that mutual love that brought us all here to begin with. :)
Tricia,
Are you going to be there for the whole DIS Con this year??? Are you coming solo or
with DH??

Yep! Planning 3-8. I'd like to stay until the 9th but it'll depend on what my schedule is like at the learning center. The plans are for me to come solo--I talked about it with DH last week but he didn't seem at all interested. But I'll be there, barring any unforeseen circumstances!
Excellent, Tricia!!!! I look forward to seeing you there!!

So let me get this straight...it's OKAY for us to stop on our way in to the MK and see the castle and all stop and cry??!!!! No one will think we are weird or anything???? Can we do that??? I wanna actually stop - right in front of the railroad station and just look at it....just stand there and look at it!! I never get to do that when I'm there - it's always a raceway and off to the first attraction!!! And I know I'll cry, especially on the 8th cause that will be my last night there!

Ok my turn (she says wiping away the tears) I don't think that I really have to respond to this thread to let people know how excited I am - my last 400 posts since January should be enough:D
I just cant wait to meet my new friends and as others have said before, enjoy WDW with people who 'get it'.
Chris, there's a bench at the bottom of Main Street looking towards the castle. I will keep a place for you and we can cry together - thats my favourite place.
Emma
CHris and Emma,
between crying from emotions (seeing the castle that first day,.....watching Illuminations,....
the "farewell reception") and crying from laughing so hard all the time..........
Our tear ducts get the best workout!!!
Corinne
p.s. I'll join you in looking at the castle!!...and tearing up!

I know!!!! Let's have a sniffle mini-meet! Oh wait! We had several of those last year....huh Barb, Tia, Sandra B? :D
LOL Steve! ;) We were the sobby sisters, weren't we?? :D It was such a wonderful time and when we all had to go our separate ways, well, it was just too much to deal with. It was all Sandra's fault, she'd start first and that was all it took! I can't help crying when someone else is. ;)

SO....it sounds like we all need to stock up on waterproof mascara!!!!

Barb, I promise I'll try not to start:D
But as soon as you start (or anybody else) I can't help myself.....
So, I guess I should buy waterproof mascara!:)
I know that I'll start! But I don't wear make-up (it's still not a pretty sight)!

Thanks for posting this Bris, it reminds me of all the reasons that I wanted to come back this year.
This will be the second (of more I hope!) mother/daughter trips with Meg and that is very special to me. Especially considering she is 18 now (I think she just wanted the time off of school! ;))
The one thing that amazed me about last year was how everyone just "knew" each other, no shyness, no holding back, it was like immediate bonding. And I remember thinking people came here from all over the world to meet up with friends new and old, that was so cool. What really astounded me though, was the strength of the emotions that everyone seemed to feel. The sentimental feelings that only a true Disney lover can feel and the closeness that you feel for others that you know "get it", as Tricia said.
Thank you Marsha for convincing Pete to do this last year. Thank you to all who came last year and thank you to all who are coming this year. It may not be what we originally planned it to be, but it will be just as special in my heart.

I don't know how I missed reading this post - it does make one very misty!
I have to agree with what I have read here - I cannot wait to see all of my new friends that I have met in person and here on the boards - couldn't find a bunch of nicer people anywhere! Happy to say - I live for the friendships I've found here - they've helped me thru some very rough times.
See you soon!
