Ok, this thread will be for things to do during the Oct 09 GG.

Let's try to come up with some fun things to do, and then we can make a calendar of when we are planning to do them, that way people can pick and choose what where and when.

I will start this off as well.

1. Fort Fiend Fishing Tournament
2. Kids Fishing Tournament
3. MNSSHP
4. Haunted Hayride

Feel free to add your ideas!

This is the Oct 09 Sign up thread. (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2000474)

I was thinking of hosting a poker evening for the adults. :confused3 We can play a movie for the kids outside on the big screen while the adults play poker. We'll supply the beer and maybe Gatordad will bring the cigars?? ha!

It was also mentioned about visiting Epcot to take in the varied culture at each country, or maybe it was beer, something like that. ;)

Drink around the world!

And to add to that...Fairy Godmothers will come to your RV for babysitting for those with young children who go to bed early. We used them one evening that we stayed out late and our young girls loved Ms Chris from FG!

Im definitely up for a fishing run...the Haunted Hayride is now a Haunted Carriage Ride, not the same appeal without doing it with all you together. I might be in for a MNSSHP also. How much were tickets for that?

Gina wants to do the HDDR, so if anyone else is interested in that...

I think the MNSSHP is about $56/adult & $50/10 & under. I don't recall if you need a park admission on top of that.

Rick & I would go to the HDDR with you. We haven't done that in about 20+ years. Maybe we could get a big group together for HDDR???

There is just the MNSSHP admission, if you buy ahead you can save a bit on the price, also Sundays seem to be the slowest day for the MNSSHP. We need to keep an eye out in the summer for when they go on sale.

I agree about MNSSHP on Sunday! We went on the 26th, and there was NO WAIT for any rides. The parade, free face painting, trick or treat candy, special fireworks, villians and low crowds made it worth it to us! The atmosphere is a lot of fun and special entertainers are great!!

I'll host the Texas Holem'/Poker Night. I have the whole set up, table, chairs, chips and cards. Of course we will have to make it somewhat interesting such as a redistribution entrance fee of some sort and then the top 3 or 4 winners get to share in that redistribution. I know O'bamas plan would be to give it to the losers but Homey here don't play that way. Pete said he would supply a variety of Micro Brews for our pleasure!:thumbsup2 I will supply the Crown and Diet Coke for those non-carb drinkers!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Of course, I have no idea who will be here on Halloween weekend to participate. It may just be me and Pete.

I like a bunch of the other ideas also...expecially the ones that have Beer in them. :cool1:

Woo hoo, we're in. Our set up is not really mobile...but that's cool if you have the space to bring yours! :thumbsup2 Do you all play anything other than Texas Hold 'Em? We usually like to mix it up by playing hands like...follow the queen, no peek, 7 card roll your own, baseball, low/high chicago, jack are better tripps to win etc. :cool2:

Deb...Id have never thought it...but we have some otters here near my house in Louisiana!!!! I was fishing the other night at Lake Pontchartrain, and there was NOTHING biting at all except for an otter who kept very slyly and carefully stealing the shrimp right off of my hook.....he was soooo good at it that I never even felt him tugging at the line. I noticed him after the second time...once the pier lights finally came on I could see him....he would sit at the surface and watch me.....watch where my cast would go...dive under and reappear about 2 minutes later in a completely different spot and wait for me to reel in, re-bait, and recast...then that little booger would do it again!!! I didnt mind...in fact....he was fun to play this game with...after almos an hour of this, and about $4.00 worth of jumbo shrimp, I guess he got full because he stopped playing and dissappeared. This was the very first time Ive seen an otter in Louisiana...and less than five minutes from my house!!!!

Ah, yes Rog! That would have been Wynottah's cousin, Whattabottah Ottah!!! We're slowly working him to the beer stealing level. I'm glad he's learned to be so stealthy!! He has expensive taste, so if you use crickets or worms, you won't see him. He dun love dat jumbo srimp!!! Have Gina make him a pot o' gumbo & you might have another critter in the house!!

Now, you understand my love of otters!! They are such sneaky little things!!! I love raccoon's too! Clever little bandits - those raccoons!!

Hooo-wee! Rest in Peace - Justin Wilson. I used to love watching his program!

Here's a suggestion for the Oct 2009 GG. We commandeer canoes after dark to go "otter spotting" on Bay Lake!! Any takers?

Rog has the "otter fishing" technique down, and I'm sure LarryJ can modify his "fruit fishing" technique and apply it to otter fishing. This could be fun!

Heck - forget about canoes - if we all chip it we could rent the yacht, get drunk - and let the boat captain worry about navigating Bay Lake & finding otters!! Yeah, yeah....that's what we'll do!!!:yay:

Okay John.....you just gotta somehow get to FtW in October!!!

If I can ever win the danged lottery, the sites and the beer, soda & kungaloosh fixin's will be on me! Hell, I'll book a site & put a huge party tent on it just so we have one place big enough to hold us all. I suppose I'd have to rent some port-a-crappers, fridge, the Johnsonville Brats grill, have Disney bring us a bunch of tables, karaoke machine, get the Mickey blow-up screen and projector, arrange for a great caterer. I'll book a separate site next to the party site just for cart parking! Keep the party alive!!!!

KEEP THE PARTY A-L-I-V-E!!!!! :woohoo:

I just gotta win the lotto! This sounds like great party plans to me!!

When we camped in Maine for the week a couple of weeks ago, our family had scavenger hunt at the campground. It was AWESOME! My sister and her husband walked all over the campground the day before played, and made a list of 30 things/clues to find/identify. It was sooo much fun, the campground owners asked for a copy of the list and they now do our scavenger hunt on a weekly/semi-weekly basis with any new campers!
The list consisted of things you had to find and record where you found them (in the office, in the store, different site numbers, pool area, etc.)(i.e. 5 pink flamingos, lobster on a rock (in the office they had a paperweight that was a lobster painted on a rock), trailer with pelican out front, trailer named after a duck (Mallard), trailer named after a cat (Cougar).
It also consisted of having to collect things and bring them back (i.e. a feather, 10 red berries, foreign coin, packet of pepper, 3 pine cones, maple leaf, 6 orange flower petals, red shirt, map of Massachusetts, a decal (not adhered to any object), etc.
It really was a lot of fun, and it got the entire campground in on it, as none of the items could be collected or found at your own site, so, for example, we had to ask other campers if we could have a packet (not a shaker) of pepper, or borrow a red shirt, or a map, or an uncooked egg, or a piece of bread, etc.) We also had to find out the names of people/things (name of the 3 women that worked in the office, the name of the maintenance man and what country he was from (Omar from Khazakstan, btw, lol) which again, got us talking to everyone, employees and campers alike.
We had an hour time limit, and we were penalized for each 5 minutes over the hour. We played it as teams, and there were small prizes awarded (my sis went to the Dollar Store and picked up a bunch of things like photo frames, candles, toys for the kids, light sticks, things for the campers, etc.) and the winners each got a $10.00 Dunkin Donuts gift card.
It really turned out to be one of the highlights of our week for both adults and kids, and it will now be a tradition for our camping trips every year!!

That sounds fun!
