So I know that for being a CP we are eligable for various sorts of discounts......the cast stores, something with Disney hotels, etc. What I'm wondering is are we eligable for EMHs? Just something I was curious about.

Only if you are staying in one of the Disney resorts. Otherwise, no.

They do have special cast previews that you will be able to attend. For example if a new ride opens, you'll get to the be the first to see it. Or if they are opening a new special event, like Pirate and Princess parties, you'll get to attend the rehearsal free of charge.

From what I can remember:
-discount on merchandise
-discount on resorts (40% for friends and family, 50% if you stay in the room)
-discount on SOME food (I forget specifically what it does not apply to)
-discount on some dinner reservations (if you dine after a certain time you will get a discount)
-discounts elsewhere in the Orlando area (mention you're a Disney Cast Member)
-Cast previews (parades, shows, rides, etc)
-Cast events
-Access to Property Control (sells discontinued Disney merchandise, damaged merchandise, lost and found stuff, and other things)
-Discount park tickets (I think like 20% off? I'm not exactly sure)
-Discount on P&PP tickets, event tickets like that
-Discount on Disney tours

Thats all I can remember off the top of my head. And also as Joanna said, you cannot participate in EMH unless you stay at a Disney Resort.

Don't you also get half off all Disney cruises?

Yes, but I don't think that kicks in right away, I can't remember but you can.

You have to be a CP for 90 days before the cruise discount kicks in.

I believe the discount only gets big if it's a last-minute standby situation. We went on a cruise last year that we'd originally booked through DD's CM discount, but it was only 15% off. It wound up being less for us to book through a group rate with a TA.

I don't think you can get any discounts before check in, but there are some great hotel deals around Orlando right now cause of the economy.

No, sorry. You can't get the discounts until you get your ID (which isn't until Day 3).

if you do a space available sail date on DCL, it usually amounts to paying around 100 dollars a night. That includes gratuity also which is really really nice.

For what it's worth, although you can't get a discount before the CP gets an ID, it wouldn't matter anyway. I called today to get a cast discount on something for jan 14-21 and they didn't have anything at any value resorts. I would have had to take POR and it was actually more expensive than booking it at the normal rate and getting the buy 4 nights get 3 free promotion plus the 200 dollar merchandise gift card. So I took that instead :cool1:

I realize I'm lucky because I'll already have my ID and can get into the parks before I take traditions!

you get 20% off at counter service in DAK, but not at any other location. Aside from that, you get 20% at most sit down dining locations, but if you're there over peak times, then you don't get anything. They automatically add 18% gratuity to a cast tab, so it is basically a wash for tip.

You also get the discount at CS at DTD.

Will they give us a list of the discount places when we arrive or will we just have to ask wherever we go?

Yes. There will be a book with different discounts (including the places for dining).

A little side note about EMH. If you stay in the MK off the clock during EMH and try to use your ID to get into an attraction with it, you can get terminated. It happened to a friend of mine in the program.

It's not just for the MK- it's for any park during EMH (night or morning).

I would suggest using Hotwire.com

I used this in October for a disney vacay with friends and we got our room for $29/night! Our hotel was the days Hotel(days inn) and it was REALLY nice and we had absolutely no problems, they were incredibly helpful!

The tours all vary. Some tours are 35% off, and others are 50% off. I did the 2-hour Segway tour at Epcot last summer, and it was 50% off. It was awsome! I would definitely do that tour again.

What is that? I've never heard of it!

Also, can anyone post the discounts that we get that aren't on the CP website? I'm just curious.

I don't know what the official name is. But you get to ride a Segway around the World Showcase. It is such an awsome tour! There are several tours I want to do next year (including the 2 at AK, the Backstage Magic tour, the holiday tour, and the diving with dolphins tour).

you'll learn more on the tours than you will at traditions. Only the first part of traditions is about the company and its past, the rest of it is all safety stuff if memory serves.

Okay CPers, perks question. Does the whole 'get in the parks free' thing end as soon as you check out, or does it go for a few more days? What about if you go seasonal?

Just wondering. :)

It ends the day your CP ends (since your ID expires that day). If you go seasonal, you would have to get a new ID.

When I did my CP they actually deactivated our cards the same day they expired (the day before check out). We went to MK that day and almost didn't make it (the machines wouldn't take our cards). The main entrance cast members were really nice, and since they knew we were CPs and it was out last day, they just let us in manually.

I will make sure to stay the heck away from anything Disney when I'm off the clock!!!
