Gatordad's Trip Report 10-08

We got back about 5pm or so. It was fun. We met lots of Disboarders. My new favorite disboarder is Pirate Jeff because he brought me a case of Poland Spring water. I drank beer, I drank diet coke, it rained. Bud turned 40. I met some other folks, but I am bad with names. Pirate Jeff is my main man. Nobody dropped anything. The Gators won. I saw the lamest halloween candy distribution person ever. The end. Nobody is getting any of my water. Disney still sucks, it took 1/2 hour to check in because they give you your golf cart when you check in, and it took 1/2 hour to wait for the guy in front of me.

Here's the thing. The people really go all out there, you name it they put it up, and the candy was top shelf. Even the Meadows was giving out good candy. We were all over the Fort trick or treating. I forgot where this "display" was, but we get up, they had set up a table, I guess they were out trick or treating with their kids, and this is what they put out. maybe they ran out of real candy who knows? Maybe some troublemakers put this and took the Twix bars. All I know is that they probably spent the last year taking these pieces of candy from the bank, the Chinese buffet, who knows wherever you get strawberry and butterscotch candies, they had enough to give out for Halloween at the Magicalest place on earth. The ones outside the bowl were probably thrown there in disgust.

I give you, the harvested candy, I'm surprised there were none of those mints like you get at the diner:

Debbie and Rick started helping, then a guy from the great state of NJ (Rutherford, probably eats at Ruts Hut) started helping me then we got a very nice guy from Pa Tom to help me. His wife lurks here, I think she's Grandma Mickey. Of course I didn't tell her I was Gatordad, because I probably said something mean to her..... he helped me get in a very tight spot because Donnie ditched me.

I have got to say, I am disappointed that us Wisconsinites didn't make more of an impression on you! :laughing: Picking favorites, we could have brought you cheese, gee whiz! It was really nice to meet you and your family. The guys were really disappointed we couldn't stay one more day, but oh well maybe next time.

actually, I am so bad with names. The Wisconsonites were outstanding, the only name I remember is George. That rig is cool as hell..... come to think of it, I've never met anyone that wasn't cool from Wisconsin..... I also met Mom25x5 and her family, and Agent 511...(can't say the name).

yup, i remember the name george, too. but, i am not sure why...oh yeah, they were the ones that were hitch-hiking their way down to the fort and we picked them up. :laughing:

we really like our new camper, too. the ride was great on the way down.

i think it wasn't so good on the way back because we were all depressed having to come home to the cold wisconsin fall weather :sad2:.

we missed the big meet. but, hope to plan to make it down again in october2009.

Here is my reader's digest report...

Got the RV out of the mechanics Friday afternoon, loaded the golf cart, clothes, youngin' and parents (no DH) and went to the fort...got there, filled up bucket 4 times with candy, youngin' went trick-or-treating, youngin' asked to see pete and family about 700 times, saw sonya and rest of grand gathering, hung out at fort, hung out with pete and family and deb (forgot to eat some of the cheesecake i brought:mad: ), went to mgm, parents' cat tore up the inside of my rv, kicked cat, mother and youngin' out of rv and to the parent's car on way home, had peaceful drive home by myself, having murderous thoughts about parent's cat...

Here's my condensed report. Arrived on 10/26 in Lake Buena Vista about noon, finally got to the Fort about 3 cause DH insisted on washing the camper and truck, then having some food. Got partially set up, then DH had to eat again, finally finished setting up, went to Wally World on Sunday, met with T@B folks on Monday, had good food, got drunk, went to parks during the week, went to Poly Luau, ate lots at F&W festival, met with T@B folks on Wednesday, got drunk, met with T@B folks and disBoard folks on Friday, got drunk, helped Jen back her rig in, packed up on Saturday, had dinner at Rainforest (cause T-Rex had a 2 hour wait and doesn't accept the Safari card yet for first seating), went by 1700 loop to say final goodbyes to everyone, drove home.

New disBoard friends, Sonya, TCD, we4mickey, and lots others I can't remember.

Steve, the "big" party will be on the 24th, because some of us will not be there on halloween. The other parties will be the 17th and the 31st.

There is a oct 09 GG thread here somewhere, we also need to pick the dates for the FFFT, the kids fishing tourney, MNSSHP, renting the big boat for the fireworks, the haunted hayride, breakfast at TE, and a BUNCH of other activities that everyone has been thinking about.

We figured that we would start a calendar with dates for all, so people could pick and choose what they would like to get together for... :)

I've seen you drunker than you were Halloween weekend. We were a some what subdued crowd. We needed Renee to run the blender, and Jason missed his drinking buddy, Steve. It would have been nice if Donnie could have been there so we could have had someone to make fun of!

To get cable picture to the big screen run it to a VCR for the tuner and use the video out (yellow) cable from the VCR to the projector and the red and white for the sound

I only took a couple of pics....but you can't see anyone. Momof5 and friends had just come by and they are out front. To put in in prospective, the canopy is a 14x14 and we were all sitting in a circle with the other folks standing out front. Don't mind the little cutie posers out front! Still don't understand why no one was touching the open bar under the Pirates flag??:confused:

Cosmic3, hi I am also mostly a lurker. We were at the fort as well but had a lot of family with us. Where in the Tampa Bay are u from. We are in Riverview, love to camp at the fort and crystal river. We bring our GS a lot who is 4. One of these days we will meet up with everyone. We have res. at the ft the sat after thanksgiving thru tues. Still trying to get fri., might have to cancel thou my dh has to have surgery again, we will see.
