DD and I just arrived home a couple of hours ago. Had a great stay at AKL concierge. We had room 5421 next to VP suite(which we got a tour of)just off to the left of Arusha rock. We saw lots of animals.Didn't have any problems with the no seeums. It was HOT! We spent a lot of time just being lazy,to hot for me.We did use our misty mate alot.If you have any ? i'll try my best to answer them some time tomorrow.I'm heading to bed now.Susan

Just got back from AKL also, spent all week there. I agree...it was VERY hot. W, R and F was 96 degrees at the airport....there is no telling what it was in the parks!

Beautiful resort. We had a standard savannah view room, but we are currently thinking that a concierge room would be great with our small kids. It would have been nice to have the concierge service for breakfast and snacks with our 5 and 1 year old.

Jenny Mouse: I think my DD and I will work on a trip report this weekend(we didn't do much- to hot)! It forced us to just sit back and relax. AKL is a great place to relax. Preshi, the view was awesome. One evening we had about 12 animals in the arusha rock area.I took so many pictures i swear the animals started posing for me(lol).bb-in-alabama:We enjoyed this resort alot. The concierge staff was always asking what could they do for us.The breakfast offerings were good. Afternoon snacks were nuts, crackers and candy. One mom asked for uncrustables and they were more then happy to get her child some and proceeded to put some more out with the snacks. After that I saw them out every day at snack time.Dinner offerings were to spicey and in our opinion not very tasty. But it might have just been us because we saw lots of people eating them. The tea and scones were nice as were the evening desserts. If we wanted water or pop all we needed to do was asked. The water was in 16oz plastic bottles and the pop in cans.Every day we saw the staff handing out little round animal face shapped cups for the kids with attached staws.Even though we enjoyed the offerings at AKL concierge we think that Poly concierge offerings were better(we were there in 99).Jaunita from Poly concierge was working at AKL concierge and told us that soon the Hawaii building was going down for a rehab.I didn't think to ask when. All in All we really enjoyed AKL.

gbanshee-We had two double beds. The bedding was two sheets with a blanket between them and a comforter. No day bed. We were on the fifth floor just a short walk over the bridge. Concierge lounge is on the 6th floor as you get off the elevator.

I agree that Poly's concierge lounge had better stuff in it...... but we had to leave the Poly due to mold smell and so we were transferred to AKL.... we were also told Hawaii building was going down.

Sky Hog: Yes it is a gyrfalcon! You put a smile on my face there... :D No not my jesses. I could only hope to raise such a stunning bird but I don't quite know if it's legal here in Ca! It's my dream to rehab raptors for a living. Dh says I have to wait a couple years to get on our feet and get a house before I can go back to school :( (I'm 23). So until them I admire them from afar! Are you a falconer?

Alas, no... now 50, I fell in love with these magnificent birds , the sport and history, as a teen... it has been a long time since I really thought about persuing falconry, though there was a time I read EVERYTHING I could get my hands on...

Your little pic also brought a smile to my face... I admire your ambition and encourage you to persue your dreams... time flies... too often even more rapidly than a peregrine's stoop...

I have however flown with eagles(bald), as a glider pilot, and only 15 miles as the eagle flies from Disney World... at least that dream came true...

... hmmmmm... still not too late to take a trip to Iceland to see your gyrfalcon... best wishes and thanks for the soaring memory...
