I hope everyone had a great week. If not just make healthy choices starting tomorrow.

Happy Halloween!

I was down 3 lbs this week. Did get in four good walks this week so I'm sure that helped along with continuing to cut back on the calories.

Hope everyone had a great Halloween and can fight those temptations sitting around. I did roast some of the pumpkin seeds that the kids pulled out of the pumpkin, they were a nice treat instead of opting for the sweet stuff.

Have a great day Blue Team!!!

Hi gang! I lost 2 lbs this week. Another good week. I hope to keep it up this week.

I had a really tough week. I had to layoff 5 people in my department and its just a matter of time before there isn't anyone left but me and it will be my turn. I have been super stressed. I hope things start to turn around after Tuesday but I really don't know. I hope everyone is doing well!

Go Blue, :cheer2:

Hi everyone, thanks Brenda for starting our thread yesterday!

I have been having some SEVERE Disney Blues.:sad2: :sad1: coming home from such a magical trip was really hard, and I know, I know... I am VERY thankfull for such a magnificent vacation, just after focusing on it 24/7, it is hard to readjust.

That being said, I stayed the same. I originally gained a pound from our trip, but ended up losing it over the past couple of days to maintain!:thumbsup2 So that is a plus.

I am off to enjoy HSM3 with DD and I am really looking forward to it! Hope the popcorn doesn't add too many pounds! lOL!popcorn::

Sorry I haven't been aroudn much. This week has been the pits. I caught something from my students and am still have stomach/blood sugar issues. Saw the doc yesterday and she gave me some different things to try. I mentioned the stomach issues and she thinks I might be lactose intolerant, so I have to go off milk products for two weeks.

So now I have to count points, carbs, and avoid milk. I also gained this week and just generally feel like crap, so I'm not a very happy butterfly at the moment.

Hi guys looks like the big blue lost some big pounds. This week I'm in the 2lb club which is awsome but I'm awfully scard I missed it up the last two days. Halloween was horrible as far as diet. I started the day off good then as I was making mummy dogs for my daughters Halloween party instead of giving the messed up mummy to the dogs (my three doxie weinners)I not only ate the mummy it but I added cheese. Mummy dogs are hot dogs wrapped in a large buttery crosante. If that wasn't enough I ended up making to many and instead of leaving them I thought I would eat 2 more for dinner and find somebody help me kill off the rest. So I thought for sure I was done there but one Halloween party later I managed to eat some more junk food. Today I took the kids to disney on ice which was great to watch but the meal was horrible for my diet. Back to work tonight getting on the eliptical and eating a healthy dinner.

Hi all,

I wanted to send everyone a sincere apology for falling off the face of the earth a couple weeks ago. We're going through a family crisis that has made me put myself and my weight on the back burner.

I have really missed you all, and I felt really bad for letting my team down. I'm still cheering for you, even if I can't participate any longer.

I haven't been able to get online much lately, but I promise to keep rooting for the blue team offline. Go blue!!!

(sorry) :guilty:

June--hope everything has gotten better with the family situation. We want you to continue with us on the journey even if not technically on the team (or rejoin!!)

Vija--I know how hard it is to come back. For me the planning is half of the trip, so after all of the anticipation and then the excitement of the trip, there really is a low after coming back home. Hopefully you will bounce back soon with the holidays coming.

Eeyore's Butterfly--I was really sick my first year of teaching. After that year it got much better because I think I developed an immunity to almost everything!

Congrats to Lisa, Lea, and Tammy on losses this week--fantastic job.

I maintained this week. It seems like I just can't seem to reach 150 no matter how hard I try (it's funny because after the weight I started at, I can't believe I'm frustrated about not reaching 150). I know I need to step up my exercise, so I'll try to do that this week. Luckily for me, it's supposed to be warm (for Wisconsin) this week, so that should help me get outside.

Good luck to everyone this week!

I'm sorry to be the one that "breaks" the losing streakof our team - but I had gain this week of .4 - I'm sorry everyone. I feel like I'm making progress by staying op, exercising everyday, and trying to meet the cow challenges but the scale doesn't agree this week. I'm hopeful that my results next week will reflect the work I've been doing. Congratulations to all you "Losers" and I wish everyone a great week!

Hear Ye Hear Ye, the Weightkeeper FINALLY speaks

Sorry ladies. I went on vacation and had a hard time returning to reality. I have not been in a number crunching mood. Here is week 6 that is really late. It is quite a nail biter of a week so hold on here we go.

-------------------Black Team-----Blue Team-----Red Team-----Total
started week---------35-------------33-------------35-----------103
removed---------------7--------------5--------------8------------20

not reporting 2 wk------8--------------7--------------3-----------18
weigh ins for week-----16-------------20-------------17-----------53

Blue Team Week 6

20 weigh ins
1 newbie initial weight
4 gains totaling 11.2 lbs
4 maintains
11 losses totaling 19.8 lbs
5 removed from challenge losses totaled 9.5 lbs

Weekly net loss 8.6 lbs
Cumulative net loss 157.9 lbs

Now the real fun begins. Let's look at our Blue Team Superstars.

Again keep in mind that if you skip a weigh in your percentage lost for the next weigh in is divided in half. That only seems fair doesn't it?

We also had a weird week with big losses following gains from last week. To be fair I also divided those percentages in half. There is probably a better mathematical way to calculate this but my brain is fried right now. Sorry.

And as usual keep in mind I am human. I do make mistakes. This was a rushed calculation and I now have week 7 numbers to tackle. If you have a concern please PM or email me.

OK I have said enough. Now pay attention. With only 11 losers this week everyone who lost is a superstar.

Hey everyone, I am so sorry, I feel like I have let you guys down as captain this week. I just can't seem to get out of this funk. I am very teary eyed, and just completely bummed out. :sad2: To add to that, we looked at our vacation pics tonight, and some were awesome... AND some WERE HORRIBLE! Can't believe that I walked around the park that way.:sad1: I just look HUGE! There is one pic that my DH took of me. I am in the Magic Carpets of Alladin, and I am alone in the ride. the pic is taken from above, I must have driven the carpet down. Anyway, I am amazed at how much "space" I take up. I am so sad... It makes me really want to work hard at losing for our trip to Disneyland. But the effort it is going to take is simply overwhelming right now.:sad2:

Vija,

I'm sorry to hear you are in a funk. It is hard to get back to reality after such a wonderful vacation. I'm also sorry that some of your vacations pictures make you sad. As DH always reminds me sometimes the truth can hurt. At least you have the power to change how much space you take up on the carpet.

I know sometimes the road ahead seems never ending but always remember that this is a lifestyle change. It will take time. There is much we have to learn about ourselves along the way. You have learned much already you TKD champion.

Get back on program. Get determined. I know you can do this. We can do it together. Focus on that trip to DL. Always keep that flying carpet picture in your mind. You can change the pictures that will be taken in DL. You have the power.

I did have a 2.5 loss last week, and then had a HORRIBLE points weekend. I somehow still stayed away from the Halloween candy, but splurged on quesadillas, chips, pizza, hotwings, spinach dip, cheeseburgers, hotdog and anything else not nailed down... I had at least a 50 point day Saturday- and that was avoiding the s'mores and cupcakes... We survived having 6 teenage girls in the house for a sleepover for my DD's 13th birthday- but geesh- I guess I found my weakness- having non-portioned food sitting around is NOT good for me. :confused3

OK- so this week I will keep up the NO CANDY rule, and exercise with passion and not just go through the motions. I will drink my water and take some time out for relaxation that does not include food to deal with intense work and money stress... NOW is the time for me to learn not just fall back into bad stress eating habits. Thanks for being there blue team- let's get that extra pound this week. I will be lucky to loose since I have to play catch up from the weekend, but I will definitely commit to the effort. :grouphug:

WTG Jen...our BL for week 6. Awesome job!!!

QOTD FOR MONDAY: Monday - How does the cooler weather affect your eating habits?

It doesn't really affect my eating but I have to work extra hard at continuing to drink my water. When it's cooler, I'm not as thirsty and would rather have my warm drinks. But, knowing that, I am going to be really concentrating on my water intake so I don't stray.

PRINCESS VIJA - I am sorry you are having such a rough time. You are not letting us down at all. I understand where you are coming from...I've been getting pictures together to scrapbook this upcoming weekend. I'm trying to use that as a motivation and not a way to bring me down. You can do it, coming back from vacations are difficult but again, you can get your focus back, we're all here for you.

shewelch-Those type of weekends are going to happen every now and then. The thing to remember is to get right back on track and not let it drag you down for a week. Sounds like you already have a plan for the week and I'm sure you'll do it.

njmom23grls-No need to apologize, we all have those weeks, you are on the right track, sometimes the scale just isn't having a good week. There are lots of things that could have been the cause, keep that good attitude and you'll be seeing that scale show a smaller number.

Congrats to the other losers and maintainers...for those that may have gained, it's a new week for us all. Let's make it a great one Blue Team, we can stay focused and get our numbers down.

Have a great Monday!!!

Congratulations to all the losers, the ones that didn't lose this week - start over, this week will be better.

Princess Vija-I know what you mean about looking at yourself in pictures. We leave in 5 weeks for WDW and I'm really trying to loose 6 more pounds (that would give me 15 total). Just keep trying and remember how much fun you had and how lucky you were to get to do so much.

Monday QOTD-I usually tend to fix more casseroles and eat more warm fatty foods in the winter. It is hard for me to get in the mood for a salad when it is cold outside. I ususally want lots of hot chocolate with marshmellows on top. This time, I'm going to try to do better and get more exercise - my exercise slows down more in the winter too. - Lisa

I eat alot of soups, chili, sandwiches. Sometimes I eat heavy stuff like pastas, meatloaf, etc. But, I've been doing really good with my soups and stuff for lunches. I've been getting those progresso soups and michalena's lean gourmet meals. Those buffalo pizza snacks are the bomb!!!! :thumbsup2

I had the same things last night for dinner and a small bowl of ice cream. For a snack in between all of this, I had an apple!! So, hopefully, this will be a great week for me!!! We'll see. I did have some candy yesterday, but not too bad.:rotfl:

HELLO!!! I am so so sorry I have not been around. Today I finally got pissed off and drove to a mall to buy a computer charger. Best Buy sent mine weeks and weeks ago and it's still not here.

Since I haven't had internet, I've really slacked on the Weight watchers stuff. I've been a complete cow.

We're going away for a month on Friday, so I'll be MIA again.

I am still the same as I was when we started this. It's so depressing.:guilty:

njmom23grls
11-04-2008, 01:57 PM
QOTD - I ususally cook differently in the winter - the house always feels chilly so I want soup or stew or meatloaf or creamy cheesy pasta type things - I also love hot apple cider or a peppermint mocha from starbucks when its really cold outside. I am trying to do more roasted things such as a pork tenderloin or roast chicken and steamed veggies or roasted potatoes instead of other things. I still have a hard time with stew because while the stew or chili may be low points - its the cornbread or fresh biscuits that my family insists on that usually are the most tempting for me.

After vacation and then an off week, I feel I've had a good week over all (I know its only tuesday but I have to tell someone about exercising today!) - Our local YMCA recently had a membership drive and I joined - well, classes started yesterday for this session and I did a water aerobics class yesterday and a strength training/stretching class today (which I thought wouldn't be nearly as hard as it was :lmao: ) - I really want to learn yoga but the two times I've tried it I couldn't do it even half-way because the poses were to advanced for my inflexible flabby self -I feel sore but a good kind of sore not a I hurt and am in so much pain I can't move kinda way. I don't know when the last time was that I felt so good about my physical accomplishment- even if its not much for some other people.

briarmom - glad to see you again! Hope your month away is successful and at least relaxing.

I've got to go back and catch up on all the posts but its seems people are hanging in there! Way to go Blue! Have a great week everyone - you can do it!

Hear Ye Hear Ye, the Weightkeeper speaks

Before we begin tonights festivities here is another official announcement. The grand finale of the NBC Biggest Loser show will be Tuesday, December 16.
Our final weigh in will be Friday, December 12.
That day each team will start a finale thread and I will post the final results on each thread on Tuesday, December 16. That will make our challenge 13 weeks long. That means we are now at the halfway point. How are you doing loser?

We do not have BL on TV tonight, but we DO have WISH BL numbers to enjoy. It was another close week. Pay close attention.

Blue Team Week 7

15 weigh ins
2 gains totaling 1.8 lbs
5 maintain
8 losses totaling 21.7 lbs
6 removed from challenge with net losses totaling 14 lbs

Weekly net loss 19.9 lbs
Cumulative net loss 163.8 lbs

Now the real fun begins. Let's look at our Blue Team Superstars.

In some respects my job is getting easier with fewer participants in our challenge. I am having a dilemma with trying to calculate weekly percentages in a fair manner. This week was a struggle. Those that skipped weeks had their percentages adjusted. Not too hard.

Now this week again I had nice losses from some of last weeks gainers. I decided to subtract their gains from this weeks loss and use that to calculate percentages. Some losers are still working on last weeks gain and even though they lost this week they are not named as superstars. I know this may not be the best way to handle this but I just want to be fair to our consistent losers.

And as usual keep in mind I am human. I am just a lowly volunteer here. I do not get paid for the hours I spend doing this. I do make mistakes. If you have a concern please PM or email me.

OK I have said enough. Now pay attention. Let's get this party started.

Wednesday- Is it easier or harder to eat healthy when it's colder out?

Thursday - do you have to change your exercise routine when the weather is colder?

Hey, where is everybody? Come on blue, lets fight together!:grouphug:

For me, I think it is harder to eat healthy when it's cold outside, because the fresh fruits and veggies aren't as abundant. I love the roadside corn on the cob stands and the farmer's markets.

And I don't get out and walk as much when the weather is colder. So I know I get less exercise in general. But I guess this year I am going to have to fight a bit harder for me, and schedule in exercise time inside. I have so many tapes and DVD's to choose from and an eliptical. Just have to make the time commitment.

Hi everyone -

glad you are feeling better Vija! I hope the back from disney "blues" haven't been too bad.

QOTD - I find it much harder to eat healthier in the Winter - I don't want a salad - I want something warm! Plus as was said earlier all the nice fruits and veggies aren't as readily available-except our family favorite CLEMENTINES - which we can't wait for! I love apples and have been trying to buy different apples everytime I shop. We aren't big root veggie eaters (except potatoes) and broc or green beans end up being on the menu several nights a week so we get tired of them. I'm also trying things like and apple spice tea which has zero points as opposed to hot apple cider which has 2-3 points - its the extras like that (hot beverages or an extra roll or just a "little more pasta") which usually put me over my points.

QOTD - Thursday - I've been exercising more now that winter is setting in - I know I can tend towards overdoing it (foodwise) so I'm forcing myself to exercise more to curb my appetite - but I also get the "blues" pretty easily. I've found the the exercise makes me feel better. I still walk the dogs every night with DH unless it is pouring rain, but that 25 mins alone together really helps keep us connected in an otherwise busy life.

I hope everyone has a great and healthy week!

Lisa
