We won a 4 day 3 night all expense paid trip for Star Wars Weekend in 2009. Like some of the other posters said Disney sent me a check for the taxes so it is a totally free trip.
We won on Aug 20th (during Tropical Storm Fay) at Animal Kingdom by riding tricerotops spin in the 8th dino seat 1.
I was on a trip there last week and a waiter at one of the restaurants told me that rumor was that '09 will be the last year for Star Wars weekend. They have already announced it is the last weekend for the soup opera weekend.

Congratulations!!! As a family of Star Wars fans that would be a better YOAMD prize to win than a night in the castle!
Enjoy!

We debated our win vs. a night in the castle. This one is more expensive and lasts more than 1 night. My wife I believe would have taken the castle.

I would have taken the castle too - you could always pay for another trip to Disney (though you will certainly get some perks you cold not "buy") but in all likelihood could never get the castle stay.
However - a Star Wars weekend for free? - Congratulations!!! That might be my second choice*!
* Well, DVC would be the ultimate

They booked our room at the Boardwalk for the last weekend in May.

What do you mean... You mean the weekend will not be awarded to any one else???? I owuld certainly have liked to experience the same Luck. But I had to pay from my pockets to visit and enjoy.. I love Disney and would pay any amount to visit...

I read the whole story from beginning to end and you had me captivated the whole time. I never knew you could pay to have those superguides take you around. I thought they were assigned to big wigs like Disney board members and their families or movie stars and the like. Who knew regular Disneyphiles could hire them. Of course, regular people woulndn't have 1800 to spend on tour guides either.
This was a once in a lifetime trip for someone who obviously appreciated all the aspects of it. I loved the Beaches and Cream photo. Your little one was a miniature compared to that sundae. Thanks so much for posting your story. I really enjoyed it.

Thanks for reading. The $1800 only gets you 6 hours. We had our guide for 12 hours so that would be $3600. This is basically the 2nd tier of VIP service. The 1st tier is for the real VIPs. With that you don't have to wait in a fastpass line, you go straight on the ride. I didn't ask what that cost but I think that they give that to the rich & famous. I would bet that Tom Cruise didn't pay anything on his recent trip for the service. Disney probably gave it to him for the publicity.
