View Full Version : Unethical Question.....

OK....so ethics aside, here's my dilemma. There will be 5 people in my group on my upcoming trip. After many attemps I've only been able to reserve a table at California Grill for 4 people. What do we think would happen if I showed up with 5? Would they try to be accomodating? I get the impression pulling up a chair at CG would be frowned upon..... LOL Sorry for being evil but I really love CG. :confused3 :rotfl: :confused3

I say that the chances of you getting a 5th person at the table are slim at best. 4 tops there are just that, really no room for a 5th. Or a 5th person. Keep calling every day, because people do cancel.

I took five people on a four person ADR. I told the host not to worry about finding us a larger table. We chose to bring too many for our four top and as long as they didn't mind we'd all fit at it.

They were relieved and let us pull up a chair.

So. Go. Enjoy.

What about a pint? Or even a flask?:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I knew someone would see that! LOL, I bought 2 flasks last year as stocking stuffers, they hold one shot. Jack Daniels, very cute indeed.

I think it depends on their capacity that night and the timing of your reservation.

I'd keep calling too - I know they have tables for 5 - we do 5 all the time. Or if you don't mind having the 5 at a 4 top then just wing it ;)

We've had many venues at WDW parks & hotels not allow us to "pull up a chair" in such a situation with them citing fire code as the reason - and they wouldn't budge on this.

Yikes! That would be enough reason to keep me calling hoping to get a bona fide ADR for five! :scared:

ot ony fire codes, but clearances for the possibility and safety of Wheelchairs and ECVs could prevent you from "pulling up a chair."

Generally, it can be difficult going from an even number up to an odd number..a table for 2 usually isn't comfortable for 3, a table for 4 isn't comfortable for 5.

But a table for 3 almost always will accomodate 4, and a table for 5 will alomst always comfortably seat 6, etc.

Well, we didnt' have any problems putting five at a four top. The table was off to the side in a corner, so it didn't block any walkway. And we weren't crowded at all.

I do see how the circumstances could differ from place to place.

I agree 100%, there wouldn't be a place for 4 unless they used an oversized round which is highly unlikely.
