I think that since the dining plan has become so popular, many places have cut back the selection. Le Cellier has also become a victim of this. The choices there have dwindled, especially the more expensive ones. LC used to have a few filet choices and now it is down to one, and the prime rib is only on the chef's menu special. I really don't see it changing anytime soon.

maximizing profits! This would have happened with or without the DDP...

First, menus change. It's not JUST Disney restaurants removing items from menus and adding other items. Your local chain restaurant, or even high-end place, likely does the same thing.

Using Captain Jack's:
1) The Disney Dining Plan has been in effect for three years and ten months (yeah, today's the first... oh, wait, I'll be right back, I need to go buy a totally unrelated certificate from restaurant.com before they sell out...)
2) Pretty much the same day people started posting that Captain Jack's had taken lobster off the menu (three years and nine months after the onset of the DDP), there were news reports about the price of lobster being way DOWN.
3) Logical reasoning: The DDP had absolutely nothing to do with the menu change.

Unfortunately people will believe what they read. Many feel it is a direct result of the DDP and those who love the plan say it is not... Kind of like politics except different...

As long as we can keep the discussion on an even keel within guidelines, this thread will remain open.....

Combo of the dining plan, extreme popularity of the restaurants (partially caused by the dining plan), and higher food prices.

Disney's cutting back everywhere, not just with the food.

I agree this pretty much sums it all up.

I'll be very surprseid if we don't see either a major menu re-vamp or the lobster return at Capt Jacks. It seems like the lobster is the only reason anyone goes there, and without it, I think it might just end up being the easiest to get ADR in all of Disney. LOL

I totally agree - i;m afraid it will go out of business if it doesnt return... and its so dissapointing that the higher end meals have been taken off the menu entirely, they could have left them on but made them not available on the plan- i would gladly pay full price for a good meal!

Thank you for the thread Korzmom. We will be there in 2 weeks . We had captain jacks booked going by a menu we read a month ago that had far more choices. I just looked at the menu again and I am thoroughly unimpressed.:sad2: Hopefully I can get them changed to something better today. I have been wanting to try Raglan Rd. but my DF is not sold on their menu. We were planning on sticking to DTD that day, may not work out if we stay on DDP. I know i'll be re-checking the menus for my other ADR's today.:badpc:

Me too!!! As the menus stand right now, we will eat a buffet everyday and pay OOP! We like variety! :hippie:

I agree, either all in or all out. We have to go through menus closely ahead of time becase my DF has strict dietary restrictions but no one should have to do that to see what is and is not covered on DDP. It would feel less like a vacation and more like a bad insurance plan.
