View Full Version : What Popular WDW Thing Just Doesn't Do It For You?

I was talking recently with a fellow Disney traveler, and when I confessed that I took my time in the parks, and didn't always stay for the full day, she was aghast. Then she told me about collecting pins, and also raved about the fireworks. I told her I didn't "get" the pins and that I didn't like fireworks (or parades).
(The fireworks thing really gets on my wife's nerves. She LOVES them. I'd rather go back to the hotel for a late swim.)
What little aspect of the Worlds can you just not "get into", for whatever reason?

I don't get the pins either. I love love love the fireworks! The parades if I happen to catch one - great - if not then I don't worry about it. But, yeah, its the pins for me too. I just don't get spending that kind of money then trading, why not just buy the one you want in the first place? :confused3

I have to admit--I feel like quite the freak about the fireworks thing. Every Disney visit and every Canada Day (that's just regular July the 1st for you Yanks and Brits) I'm like the deaf guy at the concert.

I don't care for the parades very much but I did enjoy the one in Epcot in 2000. Don't remember what it was called but they were big gold wheels that turned and had several drums in them being played by a person at each end.
I've never got the pin thing either.

We don't get in the pin trades either and we are not people that stay in the parks all day long, too much of a good thing can get old and tiring. we enjoy the resort, enjoy returning and relaxing around the pool. The past few trips we have been going back for a few afternoon parades but after you seen them a few times...................rather skip them. Photopass is another item we could do without, we take our own pictures and after 41 trips, have just about snapped everything in sight.

There, I said it. I feel better now;)

Parades! I have only seen Spectromagic. During all other parades we take advantage of shorter lines for our favorite rides. I do keep track of parade times and route so we don't get 'trapped off'.

We left AK in the early afternoon to return to MGM (or so it was called then) to see "Indiana Jones," which we had been told was a "not to be missed" event. We were so disappointed! Also, the Rockin' Roller Coaster didn't live up to its hype. We are returning to WDW in Feb 09, and will not return to that theme park.

I'm very luke warm on it myself. But I have not been on Tower Of Terror or the roller coaster, and I hear those are the highlights. The Great Movie Ride is soooo lifeless. I wouldn't mind it getting a massive overhaul.

My DH and I haven't liked any of the shows - Indiana Jones, Nemo, Fantasmic, Lights, Motors, Boring ;) - don't know what it is, we just can't get into them (maybe it's the sitting down when all we want to do is keep exploring). Thankfully, there is so much going on at Disney that there's something for everyone. That's why we love it! And all the walking in the nice weather, of course!

OK, I thought of one other thing I strongly dislike, ok maybe I actually hate it, yep I do. I can't spell it but its the Rapids ride in Animal Kingdom. Every single time we have gone on that ride I end up under the waterfall. Not just for a sprinkle or two but for the full blown, head to toe, drenched to my skin SHOWER! I hate it. It ruins the rest of the day for me. I walk around with my hair drenched, my clothes actually dripping, my shoes squish out water with every step and I just keep repeating I wanna go home (not home home but resort home). I've said each time I'll never go on it again and somehow I get talked into it *** it just can't happen to me again and guess what.... it does.:confused3

I really don't get the Hoop De Doo Revue. So not worth the money or time.
I don't love the Lights, Motors, Action show-one time and I never have to go again.
I also don't get Cirque De Whatever. I hate the circus and I know it is not the same. I just am not interested in seeing it at all.
The fact that the Speedway at MK is still there is baffling to me. They could use that space for so much more. Or at least upgrade it.

I don't want to wait around an hour for a parade, we are all about the rides and cool shows. Although one thing I really enjoyed on our last trip to the world was The Carousel of Progress. I did see the first time we went but I really enjoyed it. I think as time goes on they need to add to it. I think it is not only educational but fun. My 6 and 8 year old did not appreciate it as much as me and my DH but they will one day.princess:

I LOVE this thread. Its awesome.
One of the best things about Disney is there is so much to see and do that it really doesn't matter if you don't like something cause there is always something else.
Popular dislikes that I like. . .
1. Pin trading. If you start you will understand and then you will be addicted. . .if you don't get it don't start. . .
2. Illuminations. I walked from DHS to Epcot after a fantastic meal at HBD to see this. It made the show so much more enjoyable.
3. Animal Kingdom. . .I "get" it. But that is exactly what you have to do "get it" to enjoy it.
4. Innoventions. . .I love seeing this through the eyes of my 15 year old who thinks its the next best thing to sliced bread.
5. Parades. . .I just like them.
6. DHS. . .LOVE this park. There is RnR, TOT, Tune in Lounge with David and Mario. . .what more could you ask for. . .
7. Watching Spectromagic from the balcony at the Main Street train station.
My dislikes. . .
1. Buses at the end of the day. . .
2. Stroller nazis who think its okay to clip your heels with their buggies. . .
3. People who refuse to take their kids for naps. . .ITS A MELTDOWN CAUSE THEY ARE TIRED PEOPLE. . .GET A CLUE. After a break and a snack they will be much more willing to commando the parks again.
4. MK's layout. . .I am from the "original" in California so the layout at MK just confuses me. It feels kind of pieced together instead of planned. . .
I think that is about it.

Test Track was a waste of time for us. My 6 year old loved it...I'm thinking of telling her that they make it go upside down now so she won't want to go on it next time. (Ok, probably not...but I won't enjoy the wait for it) I also didn't get Mission Space, but I went on the green side with my 6 year old. My husband and Step DD loved it on the orange side.

Another vote for Test Track. We've only done it once, and that was enough. We waited forever, partly because the line was sooooooo long and the stupid thing kept breaking down. Glad we did it, but don't want to do it again.

There's a bunch of stuff that people love and I "just don't get."
1. Parades. Spectromagic is cool, but the daytime stuff... boring.
2. Pin Trading. I want to be harassed by strangers who want to know about my pins? I want to wear pins? Forget it.
3. Soarin'. It's a nice experience, but NOT worth a long wait. If I can't get a FastPass, forget it.
4. Character Meals. As an adult, I don't want to be bothered when I'm eating.
5. TestTrack. Good for the 10 seconds it moves fast. If it's actually working.
6. Grand Floridian. Beautiful hotel, but NOT the theme for me.
7. On the DisBoards... the abbreviations DD, DS, DH, etc... Gaaaa!!! Too mushy for me!
What I like (that others usually don't):
1. The buses. OK, I don't REALLY like the buses, but they've become a part of Disney for me. It's part of the whole experience.
2. Stitch. The attraction, the (first) movie, and the character.
3. The stuff they do to Spaceship Earth (wands, etc..). I like that they change it up a little (as long as I know that it will eventually go back to normal).
All that said.... what I REALLY like is that there is so much at Disney that everyone (at least all of us here) find stuff that they really love. I don't get the pin trading, but I'm glad Disney is doing something that other peope love. I'm glad they do character meals so the kids (and some big kids) can have a great time.
... And please don't slam me on hating the abbreviations. I'm not really complaining, and not suggesting anyone stop. I'll get over it. HEY! Someone else said they didn't like the Magic Kingdom and you forgave them!

I'm glad to see the thread is still alive!
Discopper, we have much in common. I too was well hyped for Test Track and Soarin', and while they were okay, they didn't live up to the talk. I also don't use the abbreviations, but that's only cause I type incredibly fast (sometimes too fast, which can lead to very strange sentences). I have to say the little emoticons are more distracting, however. I don't like my page "moving", and I like to think (rather arrogantly, I guess) that I'm the one person in the world who can make their tone of voice consistenly understood over the Internet. (Actually, nobody can, so emoticons are probably a good idea.)
When it comes to character meals, as a childless person, I'm not interested. I do find it cool, but odd, that a lot of grown-ups pose with characters and princesses. I'm waaaaay too self conscious to do this.
I'm not crazy about the Sitch ride, it's just okay, but I find the vitriolic hatred of it on these boards amusing and bemusing at the same time.
Not with you on Grand Floridian, though. I love ALL the hotels, really. I'd prompose to my wife that we eventually hit all the major ones, but I know she's into going to WDW that many times.
I forgot to add to my "grumpy meter" by saying that I almost never go to shows (except dinner shows). I particularly don't like anything you attend standing up. So, yeah. Parades, fireworks and shows.
Sheesh. Sounds pretty bad. I guess I'm just far more enamoured of atmosphere and theming than staged entertainment. I love hotels, pavillions, the more ponderous rides, restaurants, etc.

Pin Trading (I thought some of the pins were cute, but if I buy one, I'm keeping it, and what am I going to do with it anyway?)
In general, we had a lovely vacation and we can't wait to go back....in 2 years. I was ready to go home by the end of the week, and it won't hurt my feelings at all to skip a year in between visits. We'll save up, stay at a nicer resort, and probably be ready to leave by the end of the week then too. I just don't do crowds well. Or other people in general. And as it turns out, there are LOTS of other people at Disney. I wouldn't want to go back every year, and definately not multiple times in a year. I'd be in a stress coma.:scared:

I can honestly say I did like all the parks in WDW for different reasons but my least favorite was Epcot. I loved the World Showcase in Epcot, but other than WS there wasn't much else that made me want to stay there. I didn't like Mission Space or Soarin. Innovations wasn't all that great. Honestly, I had more fun at the Nemo attraction after getting inside and being able to get as close to the dolphins as I did and watching the divers feed the fish tank. I will always go back to Epcot for WS, but as for the other side of the park I barely spent a couple hours before feeling bored.
Oh and I agree with another poster about the stroller nazi's! I cannot count how many of those double wide plastic tubs on wheels clipped my heels or caused me to jump out of the way, makes me often wonder if that's how they drive a car:scared1: Please don't roast me for my thoughts:upsidedow

DHS - I just don't get the layout, I'm always getting confused and struggling to find my way around, even with maps. And I am normally VERY good with directions, but DHS just drives me NUTS!!! Plus, most of the attractions don't do it for me at all.
Boma - I thought it would be an incredible meal ("to die for") and really, found the food quite disgusting. Even the zebra domes were WAY overrated.
Dole Whips - I love vanilla ice cream and I love pineapple, so I'm still not sure why I didn't "ooh & ahh" over it. But again, I think it was because of all the hype. I plan on trying one again this year to see if I still feel the same way.

Just a side note, as I do not want to cause a stroller debate (I've seen it happen, it can get ugly). I'll never take one again. It was parked most of the time, and in my effort NOT to clip anyone's heels (and I didn't, not even once :thumbsup2 ) I spent a lot of time not being able to move because people kept walking in front of me. I even had one guy JUMP OVER my stroller:eek: . I. Wanted. To. Punch. Him. Never again. I'd rather carry her.
Oh yeah! Boma for us too. We had breakfast there, but we found Animal Kingdom Lodge dark, close, and generally not as enchanting as the other resorts we saw. The breakfast wasn't anything to write home about either. I'm still vaguely curious about dinner though.

lol I didn't want to say anything because I have seen how heated the debates can be, while certain stroller wielders can be nutso I really think it also has alot to do with the size of the tubs they rent out...lol that's what I started calling them. it's almost like a large completely solid wagon on wheels and I can't imagine it would be easy to navigate through crowds. I'm sorry ppl were rude to you and I would want to punch that guy too!

Waiting in line for autographs, I would rather do characters at a meal then its done. Even my kids feel the same they didn't want to stand inline they just wanted to run and find something else they could go on. Even if they had to wait to ride, I don't tget this myself I don't know why I feel like this as I want to cry every time I meet Mickey.

Thank you for pointing this out! I've always been a bit harsh on Hollywood/MGM/Whatever, but this very salient fact never dawned on me.
It IS horrendously laid out. When you think of the other parks--the "hubs" of MK and AK, and the figure 8 of EPCOT--Hollywood/MGM is just a pintless labyrinth. That HAS been bugging me.

This IS a neat thread! You wouldn't usually find people talking about dislikes with such gusto... fabulous!
Reading what people have been mentioning here, I was actually taking nots so I would remember what everyone was thinking. :cutie: so here we go...
My biggest "What were they thinking?" has to be DisneyQuest. Expensive and all VR. Don't get it.
As for some of the others I saw commented upon:
- Tom Sawyer Island: Waste of time and space. Many better things to see and do at the MK.
- Lights, Motors, Action: I will only go to see this again if I want another 2nd degree sunburn. The lack of earplugs and shade really ruined this one for my family and I. (Really a problem as my son LOVES cars of all types)
- Boma: Unless you really enjoy African Fusion cooking, I would never ever bother with this one again. My whole family thought it was awful. Fatty, bone-filled meats, mango chutney as far as the eye could see and way too much "sweet added to savoury" cooking. Blech. :sad2: The only redeeming factor at Boma was the chocolate mousse (with alcohol in it):rolleyes1 , the zebra domes (although they are over-hyped, and the mini phyllo custard/strawberry tartlets.
- Pins: I am a pin collecter, but stumbled on it very differently. Bought my first pins at the "start" of pin trading, the millenium celebration. Each pin as the 2000 logo on the back. Back then it was fun, people all had awesome pins, not the garbage you see in the parks today, and things WERE fun. Not so much any more. With the number of people out to scam others out of large amounts of pins they have become less "Collectors" and more "Pin-Sharks". As for what I do with them, I actually wear mine at work. It is a bit of a dressy place, so I like to show off my different pins on my lapel or whatever I happen to be wearing that day.
- Epcot's one and only parade: Tapestry of Nations. Miss it. A lot.
My only other "complaint" is the whole "dressing up like a princess" thing. Not the fantasy of being a princess, but the "gowns" themselves. Little people wearing revealing clothing is not attractive nor "really" Disney. I would have thought that Disney would have put more thought into the clothing that these little girls all want to wear. (Especially in the case of the "Jasmine" getup). Just my 2 cents.
Hope to keep reading on!

I don't like Stitch Escape at MK in Tomorrowland. Forever, I also have to say that while I like AK I find that it's easy to get confused in because there is no major "landmark" that you can see from anywhere in the park.

I'm not into the pins, either. Stitch's Escape is a mess, too. Also - Backlot Tour never did it for me. But other than that, I pretty much love everything else.
I don't understand the "Tomorrowland Indy Speedway". Why wait in line for this. It has no story, it's slow, it's been downsized, it doesn't fit in the Tomorrowland theme... I don't get it?!?:confused3

3) That no matter which resort I stay at it seems as though it is always the last stop in the bus terminal. Seriously folks, are you messing with me?
4) Why WDW thinks that it is ok to feed my kid chicken nuggets/hot dogs/ mac and cheese for an entire vacation as part of the kids meal plan.
5) That you MUST decide your ADR's 6 months before your vacation in order to eat at any of the better establishments.
However, having said all of that I keep going back for more. :rotfl:

I like collecting pins, but I don't want to trade. I have having to tell little kids no when they want to trade pins. I mean, c'mon. I already feel pathetic enough for being a 26yo guy who collects pins.

table service meals.
I honestly don't think I've EVER done one.
I can see why people do. But DH and I don't have kids so the characters aren't a huge draw for us and our trips are never long enough that we're willing to take 1-2 hours of perfectly good park time to eat. Plus...we're easy to please and are probably more happy with the qs food offerings anyway.
I also don't get kilamanjaro safari. or most of DAK for that matter...
just not a big fan. I'm going to try to go into it on the next trip with a more open mind, but my first trip there I was just miserable.
and my second trip was a quick in and out w/ only rides on everest and dinosaur. (I think we were in and out in under an hour)

DH and I loved Animal Kingdom. The rides are great and the atmosphere is nice there too. The best thing is the Lion King Festival, that was the best show ever. We were there Oct. 14th and we are still talking about that show.
The one thing we decided to do without it Hollywood Studios. I do believe we will save our money on that one. Not much to do there at all. Only thing right now that I can think of.:rolleyes1

I think it's more that they find it CHEAP to feed your kid only that. (Although, to try and be fair, I have a nephew for whom those are, sadly, the staples of his diet.)

I'm a TS junkie myself, but I understand people who don't partake in TS's. Especially if they find TS meals too expensive. Likewise, if they're only visiting the parks for a day or two. Only makes sense.
For me Disney is a long flight and a long stay, and I needs me my TS's! (If only cause I need to get off my feet and into a dark place for a couple of hours. I'm really rather envious of people who can "withstand" a park--or two!--all at one go from early morning to late at night. I could never.)

I understand that. My daughter loves those foods as well. However, I allow her to alternate those foods with other healthier items. I would like to see a salad and grilled chicken on the menu. Also, my dd loves sushi (basic stuff). It would be nice to be able to order a child's sushi plate.

I just don't get the whole character autograph thing. And yes, I have kids and they don't get it either. My younger son does like meeting the characters and getting his picture taken, but we rarely do it because of the horrendous lines. It takes a long time for a person wearing furry gloves and with limited vision to grip and pen and sign a book. It really slows the lines down considerably. My son only visits with the characters at meals or when he happens to see one with no line (rarely, but sometimes at Disneyland).
Call me an anarchist, but I think autographs should be banned. They should sell autograph books that have pre-printed signatures for each character and a space to put a picture.

I must suck, or something. I love the parades, Wishes is the most amazing thing I've ever seen, Soarin' is my favorite ride at Epcot and I thought Fantasmic at DHS blew Disneyland's out of the water. Then again, I also love Carousel of Progress and Country Bear Jamboree...
I dislike the Stitch ride, though. I liked Alien Encounters much better.

Stitch ride has gotta go....really not good.
Movie ride, so done with that...I hear they are re-doing it in the new year though so maybe it will be better. I guess the first time was good but not the kind of thing you want to do twice.

Things that don't do it for me...
Space Mountain. (Awful ride. The one at Disneyland is a zillion times better!)
Character autographs. Even as a child, I would not have been into them.
The dining plan. We ran the numbers before our last trip and it was much cheaper to NOT use the dining plan. Besides, I can't imagine eating THAT much food. Eek!
Priority seating. So dumb. We pretty much stick to counter service. Having to make "reservations" just isn't for me. I never know what time I'll want to eat. Or what I'll be in the mood for. We don't even know which park we'll be in on each day.

I have to agree with the others- Stitch's Great Escape has to go. Stitch (and other characters from that movie) have so much potential. Why dumb it down?? So sad.
I'm sure DH would have other thoughts, but I liked everything else. However, there is little Disney can do that I don't like.
(I'm stalling to post because I feel there was something else the last time, but I don't remember now what it was!)

I don't like the pin thing either.. I mean I like the pins-they are cute. but I don't care about collecting them or swapping them.. its not important to me. My DH and I recieved two pins for free one trip and I kept those.. but thats it.
I also don't care for Hollywood Studios.. there are a few things I like to do there- but never spend more than a half a day there..
I don't like ASSports hotel!:sad2:
I don't like Mission Space ride.. it made me sick and I usually don't get sick. I haven't tried the new "moderately" version and to be honest- I don't have an interest to. I'm also to scared to try Tower of Terror.. I think its cool but I don't like the whole "stomach to my throat" feeling and idk if its as intense as other drop or up rides.. like ones at cedar point or other parks- that drop. But thats not my thing. I just want to walk through it and leave.. hehe :lmao:

I was talking recently with a fellow Disney traveler, and when I confessed that I took my time in the parks, and didn't always stay for the full day, she was aghast. Then she told me about collecting pins, and also raved about the fireworks. I told her I didn't "get" the pins and that I didn't like fireworks (or parades).
(The fireworks thing really gets on my wife's nerves. She LOVES them. I'd rather go back to the hotel for a late swim.)
What little aspect of the Worlds can you just not "get into", for whatever reason?
i have to admit i'm not into pins either, and i really don't like the parades. i'd rather be riding attractions with short lines while everyone else is watching the parades!

I don't really "get" the love for the busses... I ride public transportation every day to work and I find the disney busses much more uncomfortable, stressful and ackward than the regular busses.
I didn't mind using them this time when we stayed deluxe... but I would never use them at a value resort or mod unless we had too... Have you seen those lines? It's just always ackward too... the strollers... the sleeping children, the old people... the criers, the whiners, the fighters.... I find it much more peaceful just to drive... and I don't think the traffic on property is ever that bad.
I am so not a parade person. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy seeing the really special or unique ones (e.g. Spectro or the Main St. Electrical Parade when it was still around) at least once, but the everyday normal parades are pretty much nothing more than an impediment to my getting to where I want to go in that park at that time. I was ready to snap on Sat. night, Dec. 6, in the MK because not only did I have to deal with Spectro crowds, but then once I finally worked my way all the way around the perimeter of the park to get close to where I wanted to be (near POTC) the blasted parade broke down, so I had to stand there on already-aching feet for another 10 minutes while they got out the tractors to tow the remaining floats away.
I'm also not a big character girl. I mean, for kids and all they're super, but as an adult, I'd kinda rather they just leave me alone and save up the magic for those who really want to share in it. :goodvibes
Oh, and I'm also not so much into pools anymore. I think it probably stems from my having been a competitive swimmer for more than 20 years, but to me a pool is a pool is a pool, and I've spent waaaaaay too much of my life in them already to go out of my way to hit even more of them. ;) Stormalong Bay's a bit different because of the current and the sand bottom; I can hang out in it for a bit and not be bored, but I'd rather sightsee or go to a park than make a special effort to go to "normal" pools.
Water parks, on the other hand, are a whole other ball of wax. I love me a good water park. :thumbsup2

my list:
1. AKL (and the YC and BC for that matter): why would people pay so much money to stay there when you can stay at the Contemporary or Poly for the same price and have the monorail.
2. Boma: before our trip, everyone was raving about this, and it was our least favorite meal of the trip.
3. World Showcase: i don't understand it. very boring to me
4. Soarin: again, people kept telling us how great this was so we stood in line for close to an hour at 11pm and i just don't get it. its a good ride, but why people wait 2 hours for it is beyond me.
5. PETER PAN: this is a big one for me, i don't understand why people are willing to wait any more than 10 minutes for that ride.
6. little kids dressed up in princess dresses. they are 60 dollars!! not worth it.
7. MVMCP: had the highest expectations for this, and disney let us down. (granted it was raining and they canceled the 1/2 the shows and the parade)
8. the nemo show at AK: i fell asleep.
however, i LOVE the parades and fireworks. but i don't line up an hour before. also, people may yell at me for this, but i like Illuminations a lot more than Wishes.

1)Any of the films in World Showcase-I'm sorry, I'm sure the films are informative...but I can just think of a mountain of better things to do rather than watch these things!
2)Turkey Legs-I used to be a fan. No more. We always go in the summer and for some reason the idea of toting around a huge steaming leg of meat to gnaw on simply isn't appealing.
3)Star Tours-Why would I want to sit in an attraction that's just going to make me
4)Waiting in long lines for characters-If there's no wait or a small one...fine. But I'm simply not going to wait forever in a line to spend a few brief seconds with a character.

Didn't care for animal kingdom. The nemo and lion king shows were great, but thats where it ended for us. seems like such a huge place with nothing really there. maybe if my DS met more of the height limits, it would have been better, but when you have small kids, not much to do. May skip it all together in May, or just go for the shows one day.

There are rides and attractions that I don't do every trip but the one thing I have done once, then watched it again, and it just doesn't do anything for me is Illuminations. I don't know why but I have never enjoyed it. Plus I have never gone to the waterparks, we do go to the pool a couple of times during our trip but not the waterpark. The reasoning is we have a nice waterpark here in town the I use to always go to and we have visited the waterpark at the beach a few times so when I am at disney that is not high on my list of things to do, even though I am sure I would enjoy it if I ever went. :flower3:

We have not seen an afternoon parade in eleven previous WDW trips. I really can't recall ever being in a WDW park at 3:00pm as we are always back at our resort. So that also cuts out touring the parks "commando" style for us.

Both DBF and I can't stand Dole Whips!!
I couldn't wait to get back and have another Dole Whip Float. Well, what a disappointment!! The juice was warm and absolutely wrecked the taste of the float. It was wonderful the first time but horrible this trip. Maybe you just had a fluke one like I did!!!!

Ohh. I want to add that to my list...
Commando style touring. It just doesn't seem like much fun to me. We took WDW trips with extended family when I was young. My family toured in a laid back style. My aunt/uncle/cousins did commando style. Every meal and every ride planned out. My cousins make comments about how awful it was...haha.

I feel like a great weight has been lifted off of my shoulders!
Others don't like/get pins! :worship:
Others don't like/get parades?! :faint:
Others don't like/get fireworks?!?!
Others don't like/get autographs?!?!?!?! :hyper2:
Further, I was done with Hanna Montana before I even started. And it figures that no matter WHEN I seem to enter DHS, that dang HSM float is right there to greet me :crazy2:
Dare I agree with a PP--I am also befuddled about little girls in all the princess gowns, make up, heels, etc :confused3 . I love to see the little girls being little girls! (though I caved and bought my 3yr old a Belle dress at half price at TJ Maxx--but that's it!)
Disclaimer on the Fireworks: I like them from a distance, so I enjoyed watching them from our Bonnet Creek suite balcony. It's a noise thing for me, and my toddlers aren't into them at all *yet*
Disclaimer on the Parades: If I happen to be in the right place at the right time for a parade, I'll check it out. I am just not one to tape off a section of side walk an hour before one starts ;)

One more!
Photopass. Tried it. Very disappointing.
I think I have become spoiled with our Nikon and just prefer (and enjoy) taking my own pics. I am not an expert in the field of photography, but I seem to get the shots I want plus the quality I want.
The Photopass details which you can add to pics can be cute, but (obviously imo), not worth it. I do a lot of my own matting and framing and have become a stickler with my own way of doing it, cute little Tinkerbelles in the corner or not ;)

Oh....another one....the cheesy photos the photopass people take. You know, the ones where they add in Tinkerbell and other Disney characters. Those are just a little too cheesy for me.
I can't remember if I said it earlier or not...but I don't like the dining plan either.

Wow! What an interesting discussion on a site full of Disney fans. Put all your dislikes together and I wonder why you would ever go to WDW at all.
I am not a frequent visitor to the parks. Before a week in early December, previous trips were two years ago and thirty-three years ago. I enjoyed just about everything.

For me, it's the Epcot festivals- Food & Wine festival or the Flower & Garden Festival. Been to both during the last few years (F&W fest 2x).
I can see why with the wine fest- since I'm not big into wine, but I am EXTREMELEY pickey when it comes to food.
The F&G festival is nice, and I even ocassionaly will plant flowers at home (of course under the direction of DW), but neither one is a draw for me.
As for WDW attractions- it's the bird exhibit at AK and Indy Speedway at MK.....they ought to scrap that ride and put something new and exciting in it's place- this is a ride you can go on at any local theme park.

For me the list of what really don't float my boat at WDW is.
Parades.(can't stand being packed elbow to elbow in 95 degree heat next to someone who forgot their deodorant)
Honey I shrunk the audience. (The endless wait to get in the theatre with the 20 min. Kodak commercial.)
Kali River Rapids(I was waiting for it to do so much more, and didn't)
Kilimanjaro Safaris( I know I'm a minority here but did nothing for me. And yes, I do like animals).
50's Prime Time Diner. The atmospher was fun but the meatloaf and the pot roast left me wondering why do people get excited about this place?)

Parades are something I cannot get into. SPectromagic is a must-see, but I do not care for the rest of them. Too many rude people and for me, it is not worth the hassle.

Honestly, I'm not that big into Animal Kingdom. We always go when I'm with my family, but we go for maybe half a day, then go back to the resort and take and nap, swim, and then go back to Epcot or Magic Kingdom that night. It just isn't our thing really.
And, I care for the pins, and I like them. But, they are so expensive I just don't waste my time.

Tomorrowland Indy Speedway doesn't fit into the Magic Kingdom in any way, takes up too much space, and creates exhaust fumes and noise - it only takes away from the Tomorrowland experience - ironically Tomorrowland is our favourite part of Magic Kingdom. Move it over to Wide World of Sports - they have nothing there except vacant land. And while you're at it, move the Richard Petty Speedway there too. It always strikes me as weird that there is a rusty chain link fence enclosure in the middle of the parking lot - the first thing you see as you're on your way to the park. Why the heck did they put it there? It makes no sense. :confused3
And the pin thing? Why would I spend time and money picking out a pin just to trade it away? I just don't get it. :rolleyes1

Pin trading, great way for people (especially kids) to strike up a conversation with someone! Also, great way for Disney to make moey, selling all these pins!
Kali Rivers...I just kept waiting for something exciting to happen, and waiting and waiting.

COP -- I know, I know, I'm one of not many. But my friend and I were looking for a way to claw our way out of that attraction. WE WERE TRAPPED!!!!!!!
Pin trading -- OK, I do buy pins, but for crying out loud, if I pay for a pin, I sure don't wanna give it to someone else!!!! I bought it because I liked it.
Movie ride -- Overhaul time. I mean, when I can spot cobwebs on Gene Kelly, we have problems.
Swiss Family Tree House -- I climbed up 80 flights of stairs for THIS?
Tiki Lounge -- I was counting the minutes .....
Muppets -- I mean, I grew up loving the Muppets and still do, but I have seen the same show OVER and OVER and OVER again. I can quote it.
World of Disney -- Yes, I love shopping and getting lost in a store.

Kali Rivers...I just kept waiting for something exciting to happen, and waiting and waiting.
I"m with you on that . It was nothing more than a lazy river ride that occassionaly turned into a falls of water just to get you wet. Unless it's 90 degree's when I"m down there in January it's a ride that I'll pass on.

I third Kali River Rapids!!!
I have only ridden it once... The standby line was like 50 minutes, but we had fast passes. Good Thing!!! The ride was literally like 2 minutes long... IF I would have waited 50 minutes for it I probably would have been pretty miserable... It was the most boring raft ride I have ever been on... As the PP has said it's more like a lazy river than a rapids ride... I don't even think I got a drop on me... The initial hill you go down is cool, but that is where it ends.... There is nothing to see but ugly giant burning trees which make you really hot...
The rapids ride at our local amusement park here is 10x better and it had no theming.
Popeyes at IOA blows this out of the water...
I just find it dissapointing because there is so much potential for a ride like this! It could have been soooooo much better...

I'm not a fan of:
Lights, Motor, Action - DH loves it though, so DD and I ride rides while he goes
Indiana Jones
Fast Track
Parades - I like them, but I don't necessarily like lining up 30 min-1 hr before they start. If I happen to catch them, or actually need a bit of "sit time", then I'll watch them

I didn't mind the whole somewhat warm/melting everywhere thing (its Florida, we expect melty ice cream!), we just thought they were WAY too sweet. I'm a big dessert fan, but neither one of us could finish these without going into a sugar coma!

I've never gotten into the events/parades after park hours. (Pirates & princess Party, etc)

I don't get into the fireworks, though they are good fireworks. By the end of the day at WDW, I am running on fumes and can't handle them.
That said, I'm going to be there 1/16-1/19!!! And I'll probably watch the fireworks.

For me its those turkey legs. I just don't get knawing on a leg of some creature while you walk about.
Parades are something that I don't go out of my way to see. Mostly I had the waiting an hour before it starts and when it ends, the crush of the crowd all trying to disburse.
I understand why people do it, but for me, the whole planning out the order of the rides they go on, which CS they will eat at and what they will have doesn't work for me. I like a general plan of what park what day and where we are intending to have dinner, but anymore then that is too much for me while on vacation!
There was so much hype about the fireworks at MNSSHP. I made a big thing about getting to see them and then, eh, just another fireworks show. They are pretty and all, but I prefer viewing them as I walk to another attraction :thumbsup2

Good grief, I second the turkey leg mystery *shudder*
I also second hard ticket events :confused3.
Hmm...this is my 3rd or 4th post in this thread. Eventually I will get to the point where suspect I only go to Florida to eat at Chik-Fil-A

Same here. A lazy Kali River ride. :sad2: Also the parades, I love watching it, but I don't want to wait an hour before it starts, maybe I'll go shopping :rotfl:
