I'm definitely up for Dick's, I"ve been to the one in Chicago a few times, what a blast!! And definitely a massage, at a reputable place! But where are we eating? It's all about the food, isn't it??

No, it's all about the SHOPPING! Actually, at some point I would like to go to the Forum Shops. I have NEVER BEEN THERE. Shocking, no?

Seriously, food is high on my list too. And just hangin' with you all. Even though I may just watch! The problem is that so many of the "signature" dining places are pretty expensive. Maybe we should do drinks and appies? All I know is that I went to Emeril's once at MGM and was mighty disappointed in the meal and the experience for the price we paid.

Well Dick's can be one meal.
Earl of Sandwich is always good for a quick bite for lunch or whatever.
Grand Lux Cafe in the Venetian Hotel is supposed to be good. I think they are owned by the Cheesecake Factory.

Do ya'll like buffets? Paris has a good breakfast one. So does the Rio.

There are many, many upscale restaurants by famous chefs but if that's what you are looking for, I really can't help you. I won't go anyplace where I can't pronounce the items on the menu. :rotfl:

There is a Margaritaville that I've always wanted to try.

If we do the Tony and Tina's wedding, that is dinner and a show.

It really depends on what food and atmosphere you want. Also how much you want to spend. You can find pretty much anything you want here. :thumbsup2 And when you are hungry it ALL sounds good. LOL

Hurry and get in your car!! Jen and I are going to be there tonight. We'll wait for you. ;)

I've been there a few times, but can't afford a gosh darn thing in any of those stores. :lmao: It's fun to window shop though, and also take the curving escalators.

As for food, drinks and appetizers would work for me. Even those can add up so we'd still have to watch where we go. Unless someone hits it big on the slots!

The massage was wonderful. And the price was great too.

:rotfl2:

We ate lunch at the italian place in New York New York and it was delish. The pizza was about $13 and was huge. Easily could have split it. Instead I took half back with me. And they have a mango colada that was sooooo yummy. $13 for that too. The place was nice, but not overly pricy. And the portions were nice sized as well.

But yeah, I am all up for eating. We did do the buffet at Planet Hollywood. I thought it was good. Pricey though, $30. But it had seafood, salad, soups, italian, asian, middle eastern, american, mexican, and a huge dessert bar. I wish we would have taken our time there. But we got there right near closing and rushed. The seafood was really good. And the prime rib and ribs were yummy as well.

We also ate at Dan Marino's. Good basic food. Great meal after midnight though. lol. I'd go back there as well.

Any one have other suggestions? I scoped out a few clubs/bars that were laid back, but yet stylish enough to want to be there. But not intimidating in any way.

I would love to grab something at the Harley restraunt. DBF rides and would think its cool if I took a pic on one there.

Who ever is up for a massage, let me know and I will forward them the info on the place I went. Yes there was nudity in the locker rooms, lots of it actually. But the overall facilities were great. Its a Korean Spa. The massages were all good. Even my brother and his buddy enjoyed them. And his friend didn't even want to go. He now wants to go back. And one in our group had the scrub with milk. She said she wanted to marry that girl when she was done. :rotfl: Let me know.

Oh, and I am thinking I might stay till Sunday if most are as well.

The only reason I caught it was that one of the friend's I went with this weekend said almost the same thing. I suggested going to Dick's Last Resort for dinner, and her reply was "I love Dick's". That had us all rolling for quite some time.

She's going to try; she said if there wasn't room in the timeshare, she would get a hotel room. She's got some family stuff going on, and her brother found out a few months ago that he has pancreatic cancer. She really wants to go.

Something I noticed that they changed in the description of the timeshare "Suites are in 2 and 3 story buildings with no elevator." Cheryl, will that be a problem? I will still call and ask, but just wanted to let you know what is said.

Theresa, did you want to stay in the timeshare? We are getting close to 6 people, so it may be time to get a 2nd one. I think Debbie wants to stay in it as well, so if T & D are in for the timeshare, that gives us 6. Then, possibly Michelle and Doreen. There is still a timeshare available for 4 if we need it.

No elevator? Yikes. 2 stories might not be so bad, but 3 would be. Can you request a room location?

So in the timeshare now are:

Cheryl
Wendy
Debra

Here is a link to the tripadvisor page with the reviews for the timeshare: http://las-vegas-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g45963-d296425-Reviews-Summer_Bay_Resort_Las_Vegas-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html

You can see candid traveler's photos (click on photos 46), which is what I always like to look at. It seems nice. The reviews say to ask for a remodeled unit, so Stacie, maybe when you call you could see what they say about that.

Also Cheryl will have a car right? Or else you'll take taxis? I seriously do not want anyone doing that walk from the hotel to the Strip. It is not a nice area, nor a nice walk.

In Vegas, as a tourist you are safest when you are hanging out on the Strip OR in one of the residential neighborhoods like Henderson, Green Valley, or Summerlin (where we live). The residential areas that are immediately surrounding the Strip are NOT nice. They have a lot of the lower income or homeless, lots of gang related crime, drugs, prostitution, etc.

That's pretty much the way it is in any big city. You have your nice areas, and your tourist areas which are all fine, then you have certain areas to steer clear of. I'm not saying this to scare anyone, but I know we have some Vegas newbies and I just wanted to let them know what's what. You're hotel is totally fine, just don't go out for a stroll alone at midnight is all I'm saying. Be smart and you'll be fine.

(hmmmm, I sound like my mother now  )

Stacie, if your friend or anyone else ends up needing a hotel room for those dates, MGM is having some deals during that time: http://hotels.travelzoo.com/las-vegas-hotels/558011?ptl=done&rating=&tppct=

For June 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25 it's only $49 a night. Plus you get some free slot play and club passes.
Then June 26 it's $97, and June 27 it's $104. (Fri and Sat are always higher)

Anyway, just thought I'd toss that out there in case anyone was interested or we ended up with some who needed a hotel room. :)

Is anyone staying at a hotel on the strip?? My "issue" is that I really don't sleep well (even at home), so I usually work and bug the bejeebers out of anyone I'm with (except my son and DH, who know me and love me anyway ). I want to be economical, but I don't want to cheese everyone off either!

That being said, if I'm the only one staying at a hotel, it may be an issue, right, with doing stuff together??

Theresa, I'm staying at home, lol, so I can't help you there. And I think so far, everyone had been in the timeshare.
But that deal I posted for the MGM Grand is pretty good. At least the $49 nights aren't bad. Even the Friday and Saturday night prices aren't bad for a Strip hotel in summer. I've seen them way over $200 a night.

Anyway, if you stayed on the Strip I think you'd be ok with meeting up with everyone. Amy, Jane and I are all local, so we'll be driving to meet up. One of us can pick you up, or you can take a taxi.

Actually when I had friends visit before, we'd pick a main meeting point, usually a hotel. I'd park there, and then take taxis or the monorail with them during the day. There are lots of ways to make it work. :)

I was able to get the Grand Tower Room for the $49 rate with a King bed.

Here is the description:
Larger than the average Las Vegas room, the 446 square foot deluxe rooms at the MGM Grand are decorated in classic motifs offering the finest in elegance and comfort. Each room features either a single king bed or 2 queen sized beds, and is accessorized with a custom black and white marble bathroom, luxurious cotton towels and spacious closets, remote control television, hair dryer, safe and an alarm clock. All rooms feature wireless high-speed internet access.

You can see a layout of the room and pics of it here: https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?host=promo&pid=001&code=MKT242
Just click on view available dates and I picked June 21 thru 24.

I've never stayed there, but it's one of the kids favorite places because of the Lion Habitat. So we park there, see the lions and then walk down a bit to M&M World.

So for $10 more per night, I guess it's up to you how much room you want/need.

I forgot there is also a Rainforest Cafe in MGM. We didn't really have any plans there specifically, BUT we are going to Dick's and Thunder From Down Under which is right across the street (diagonally) at Excalibur, so you'd be right there for that.
And it's directly across from New York New York, where Stacie wanted to eat one day.
And MGM is a stop on the monorail so that's a bonus there too, if we use that at all.

It's not really centrally located on the Strip, it's more down on the end, but not as bad as Mandalay Bay for example. And it's a nice place. Not trashy like Hooter's Hotel and Casino, or the Riviera, or one of those places.

Here is a map of the Strip so you can kind of see where it is:

I was just thinking, you are a wild woman now!! First Disney solo and now Vegas!!:banana::banana: Soon, you'll be jetting off to Paris. Oh, wait you can go to Paris while you are here. ;) Or at least our version of it. haha

Here is the shuttle info, that you probably already read:
Shuttle transportation (one-way and round-trip) is available for a fee at the MGM check-in desk located near carousel one in the main baggage claim at McCarran International Airport. The MGM check-in desk handles check-in and shuttle arrangements for guests of the MGM Grand. Shuttle transportation can be billed to your hotel room. The check-in desk is open daily, 9 a.m. - 11 p.m.

I like that they have a check in at the airport. That's nice and handy so you are all set when you arrive. The shuttle is $15.50 round trip. A taxi will run you between $14-$16 one way. So a shuttle is obviously a better way to go. They run every 30 minutes and you just sign up for it at the airport.

Yes to Cirque, Tony & Tina's, still not sure about Thunder...

Hmmmmmm, sounds good. I think a number of the activities were going to be at the MGM, right? I checked the specials and it's good (a little bit more) for the bungalow suites (whatever the heck that means). Has anyone ever stayed here?

I haven't stayed at MGM, but I have stayed at TI (I love TI), Stratosphere, Wynn, and our timeshare. But it seems super nice & I love the location.
The RFC has amazing waiters.

Is anyone interested in seeing a Cirque du Soleil show? I've never been to one and I would love to go!!! I would not minding going to dinner and Thunder (shhh, don't tell DH!!) This is not something I would normally do and I will probably die of embarrassment, but I'm game :thumbsup2 I think Tony and Tina's would be fun too (they do that one in Vancouver too, but I've never been!).

How long are you staying? I saw a Cirq show last summer, AMAZING!! Although the little girl really freaked me out a few times, it was very good.

Sounds like a good plan. Although since it is Father's Day, I'm not sure I'll be able to get out of here, unless I can somehow plan something for my 3 kids to do with their dad... hey, what a concept, for Father's Day!!

That's what I'm going to do as well..... I'll take Frank out for dinner on Friday or Saturday, then he can have some father/son time with Jesse on Sunday (after they drop me off ;)).

Which Cirque show are you interested in? I think some of them are less expensive than others, right? I would love any of them - never seen one live before!

I can only stay until Thursday morning. DH has a business trip leaving on Thursday and it's probably best if I'm there to take care of our son (although with his attitude right now, maybe not!!!) :rotfl2:

Stacie: can you call the timeshare and see if they will give you a ground floor room for medical reasons? (I can produce a doctor's note if necessary). Stairs just kill me. If they can't guarantee that, then I may have to go the MGM route instead too. Which would free up a place in the timeshare. By the way, I HAVE stayed in the MGM and it is very nice.
Not sure where the bungalows are--I've stayed in the towers.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's brother. How sad. I hope she is still able to make it.

No elevator? Yikes. 2 stories might not be so bad, but 3 would be. Can you request a room location?

So in the timeshare now are:
Stacie(lee)
Stacie(rita)
Cheryl
Wendy
Debra
and possibly Theresa?
That's the six right?

I checked and the bungalow suites just seem to be bigger.

Here is a map of the Strip so you can kind of see where it is:
http://www.vegas.com/lounge/map.html

Vegas.com is a great website for learning more about Vegas. It can all be a bit overwhelming, but it helps a little bit. lol

Hey hey hey! Don't make fun of my Riviera!!! At least they give me free rooms sometimes--it's Mom's favorite place! The Riv is a happenin' place ;) I almost got picked up at a slot machine by some old guy once, so it's dear to my heart.

Yes, you ARE wild woman. I hope we are there at the same time (I don't know what days I'll be there yet) so I can get to spend more time with you! And I would love to see a Cirque show--the only one I've seen is Mystere (but would be ok seeing that one again too)

Sounds like a good plan. Although since it is Father's Day, I'm not sure I'll be able to get out of here, unless I can somehow plan something for my 3 kids to do with their dad... hey, what a concept, for Father's Day!!

You were always a wild woman. It just took meeting us to bring it out in you!! ;)

The Cirque shows are spectacular!
I've seen several of them. Oh heck, here are all the shows I've seen here. I'm not bragging, just saying in case anyone has any questions. :rolleyes1 (Seriously, the locals discounts are what saves us. If not for those, I'd never be able to afford to go, so it's not as big of a deal as it seems)

Anyway, I've seen:
Love
KA
Mystere
Zumanity
Danny Gans
Phantom of the Opera
Mamma Mia
Siegfreid and Roy
Dirk Arthur Xtreme Magic
Scarlett Princess of Magic
Carrot Top
Bottoms Up
Mac King
Ronn Lucas
American Superstars
Skintight
Showgirls
Jubilee
X - An Erotic Adventure
Splash
Spamalot
The Producers
V -The Ultimate Variety Show
Crazy Girls
Stomp Out Loud
Tony and Tina's Wedding
Mega Bubble Show
Nathan Burton Magic Show
Popovich Pet Comedy Show

Some of those aren't around anymore as that list includes not just the ones since we moved here, but over the years as well.

I cannot wait to see either Chippendales or Thunder From Down Under!!:banana::banana:

I think they just call them bungalows. In the pics, they appeared to be regular rooms, just larger. I don't think they are in a separate area or anything.

Mystere was good, really good. But it was actually my least favorite of all the Cirque shows I've seen. KA is so awesome. You'd love it. And Love is a lot of fun and upbeat. Zumanity is fun too, but in a more adult way. ;)

Ok, is it just sad that I'm not even sure what Thunder is? All I will say is that my one and only trip to Chippendale's I was thoroughly bored.

I don't know what dates I'll be in Las Vegas yet. :confused3Love was really good and I'm not even a Beatles fan. They can be really expensive though. We lucked out with those tickets. Ticketmaster was having a sale the year we moved here. It had nothing to do with being local. Anyway, we were about 12 rows back from the stage, and scored tickets for the unheard of price of $50 each.

I've kept an eye out for a sale like that ever since, but they never had another one. :sad2:

Thanks for the link Beth. I always like to get info about where I am staying before I show up. I like how the person that "wouldn't return" still gave the place three stars or dots or whatever they call them on that site. Just take your Disney budget and double it. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Kidding. Well, sort of. It does depend on what you do here. You can spend a fortune or do things on the cheap.

I'll see if I can throw some sort of schedule together tonight while the kids are working on homework. We know more or less what we want to do, plus there are just certain things all first time visitors must see, like the fountains, the volcano, etc. Those are just a given, and they are free!

In the meantime, look on Google for fun things to do in Vegas or on the Vegas.com site and see if there is anything specific you'd like to add or make sure to see. We'll find a way to squeeze it all in. It's 24/7 here, you can stay up all night and sleep when you get home. ;)

OKay, I've got a print out of the schedule Stacie had worked on way back on page 21. I think we've added and deleted some things since then, so it will definitely need tweaking.

It's going to be a bit of a challenge because not everyone is here on the same days, but I'll do my best to keep the really fun things on the overlapping days so no one misses too much.

I've got a map of the Strip to sort of set a schedule that flows nicely so we are not wasting time hopping from one end to the other and back again. And I've got a website with the list of hours for the free shows, the bars, the restaurants, etc. so we can have those handy as well.

Time to get to planning!! I'll post what I come up with later tonight, and we can all work to tweak it from there. I'll just get us started. :thumbsup2

Holy cow. First this thread moves a page a month, then today you guys chat up 5 pages, damn!

Thanks mom! I will also have my car. And I thought I read that the time share offers shuttles to the strip. Or no? If that's the case, we can shuttle to the strip, and taxi it home.

Hey Theresa, no worries. I have insomnia, so I have issues with sleeping as well. If I can sleep, and my body is ready, nothing can stop me. But most nights I am up, tossing, watching tv, reading, or whatever. Stay with us. We can bunk up. You being up won't bother me. I like to nap and relax more than sleep. So its all good.

I'm hoping someone offers to pick me up from the airport (hint, hint). I have no idea on time yet, do you?

I'd pick you up, but I am not coming in till Monday. Have to spend Father's day with my father. And since DD's father has never been in the pic, we always are together.

7 hours?? That's nuts.

1:15 seems like a good arrival time! :thumbsup2

7 hours?? Sounds like my drive home the other day.

Because this is my first time, everything would be new and fun for me. I don't really have any suggestions of what I'd like to do - not until my second trip!!!

I guess I am a wild woman now......

Yep, you are a wild woman now. Just have to make appointments at Atomic and you are good to go.

You were always a wild woman. It just took meeting us to bring it out in you!! ;)

The Cirque shows are spectacular!
I've seen several of them. Oh heck, here are all the shows I've seen here. I'm not bragging, just saying in case anyone has any questions. :rolleyes1 (Seriously, the locals discounts are what saves us. If not for those, I'd never be able to afford to go, so it's not as big of a deal as it seems)

Anyway, I've seen:
Love
KA
Mystere
Zumanity
Danny Gans
Phantom of the Opera
Mamma Mia
Siegfreid and Roy
Dirk Arthur Xtreme Magic
Scarlett Princess of Magic
Carrot Top
Bottoms Up
Mac King
Ronn Lucas
American Superstars
Skintight
Showgirls
Jubilee
X - An Erotic Adventure
Splash
Spamalot
The Producers
V -The Ultimate Variety Show
Crazy Girls
Stomp Out Loud
Tony and Tina's Wedding
Mega Bubble Show
Nathan Burton Magic Show
Popovich Pet Comedy Show

Some of those aren't around anymore as that list includes not just the ones since we moved here, but over the years as well.

I cannot wait to see either Chippendales or Thunder From Down Under!!:banana::banana:

Damn, so what haven't you seen besides nakie men?

Lucky ducks! I want $50 tickets to LOVE!!!!

Of course I want to, but right now that's not economically feasible. :sad1: Stupid needing money to pay for stuff. hmph!

Lets try to see Love. My mother say it and loved it. But heck, I will see almost anything.

ME?? I think not. I'll take your camera and take lots of pics of you. :thumbsup2

Thankfully I did laundry this morning. I always do at least a load a day to stay on top of it.

Keep waiting, I've already started!!

Me too! Speaking of tickers, I like yours Wendy. :thumbsup2

OK, I'm only popping back in here because I remember Stacie saying she wanted to eat at an Italian restaurant in NY NY.
Stacie, was it the Il Fornaio? I just want to make sure we are on the same page. Thanks.

Yes, thats the place I ate at last week. It was yummy. We don't have to eat there in June. Just tossed it out as a nice place, huge portions, and great drinks. Pizzas were big enough to share, and were only $13. Mango colada was mmmmmm, also $13.

Holy cow. First this thread moves a page a month, then today you guys chat up 5 pages, damn!

Thanks mom! I will also have my car. And I thought I read that the time share offers shuttles to the strip. Or no? If that's the case, we can shuttle to the strip, and taxi it home.

Well, our other trip is over, what else do we have to do???

Yes, the timeshare has a shuttle, and from the info on tripadvisor, you can arrange pretty much any ride, within reason.

Definitely stay with us. If you go to www.summerbayresort and look at the Las Vegas accomodations, the suites that sleep 6 are pretty big. I'm sure we can figure something out for you, Theresa. Don't worry about it. Besides, how can you be a wild woman if you don't stay with the other wild women??? :dance3:

Good Lord, making a schedule was much, much harder then I thought!! I did my best, but it's hard with not everyone being here on the same days. Anyway, I will post what I came up with and you all can tear it apart. :rotfl2:

Man, I WISH I could get airfare for $49!!! The cheapest I can find from Vancouver is $400 return........

I've done my laundry for today, so I'll just wait (and then go out to take DS to his practice), then more work (yippee!!)

Fly or drive down to Seatac and get a ding flight from Seattle to Las Vegas.

Right now on 6/24 there are $99 flights one way from Spokane to Las Vegas.

Okay, Ding fares just came out today for April, Phoenix to Vegas, $39!! I hope they come up for June as well. I'm going to book it now, for $59, and hopefully the Ding fares will come up later and I can change my flight. I'm looking at arriving in Vegas at 1:05pm on Sunday (share a shuttle, Theresa?) and leaving on Saturday night (leaving on Sunday the fare jumps to $111). Sound good?

Ummm, what is Olympic Garden??I don't know what Atomic is either. There is the Atomic Testing Museum but I don't think that's what she's referring to. LOL

Then there is the Atomic Liquor Store and Bar. I read this review on it:
This place opened in 1952 and is supposed to be the oldest licensed bar in Las Vegas. The Rat Pack used to drink here after shows. The place gets its name from when people used to watch atomic testing blasts from the roof. Some of the bar scenes in the movie "Casino" were filmed here.

It's only two blocks east of the El Cortez on Fremont and 9th. It's a "long" two blocks though. The whole Fremont East area used to be (some say still is) the skid row of Vegas full of crime, drug addicts, and prostitutes. Because of the recent renovation by the city, East Fremont is patrolled by private security up to the El Cortez.

The area has been cleaned up considerably but still I would only walk to the Atomic during the day. Because of problems from several years past, the Atomic closes at 11pm. You have to be buzzed inside. I know it sounds like a cliché, but really this is the type of place Charles Bukowski would have hung out if he lived in Las Vegas. It's a colorful and interesting clientele to say the least.

Busch beer is $1 can and mixed drinks and shots go for $3. Don't go there to have a laugh at the expense of those less fortunate than you, but go to experience another side of Vegas different from fake volcanoes, dancing fountains, and pirate shows. Hands downs, one of the most historic, real, and unique places in Vegas. I love it.

Hmmmm, if that's the place, I think I'll stick with my fake volcanoes and dancing fountains, thank you very much. :rotfl:

Oh, and I don't want you to miss Tony and Tina's or the VooDoo lounge!! No way. I'm gonna tweak it a bit if I can and see how I can change that.
And the Olympic Garden is a strip club that has women dancing downstairs and men dancing upstairs. You can Google it, just type in Olympic Garden Las Vegas.

OK so I'm going to go play with the schedule a bit. It's so hard because not everyone is coming on the same days. If you were, that would make my life so much easier. Don't you want to make my life easier? :rolleyes1 ;)

If anyone has any ideas or just hates the whole schedule just let me know. If you have any questions please ask.

It might seem at times like we are doing a lot, especially on that first day, but some of the hotels there's not much to do there. You walk through, oooh and aaah, take a pic and move on. So unless we are all super slow walkers, it will be fine. Plus I purposely planned more for the start of the week, since everyone is excited, eager and fresh. By the end of the week everyone might be ready to just chill, or do some of their favorite things over again, kwim?

Speaking of walking, there is so much walking. And I'm not even talking about walking the Strip, sometimes it seems like miles just to get from the valet parking to the restaurant or show. So keep that in mind when packing footwear.

It's going to be hot, right? What kind of shoes are we talking about here? I'm thinking walking sandals or flip flops??YES! It will be hot. End of June should be over 100 every day. Just how far over remains to be seen. Then again, once you hit triple digits, it doesn't really matter. :rotfl:
So water is a must! And breakfast stuff would save ya'll some money in the mornings.

Any shoes are fine, most places allow pretty casual attire, unless y'all are planning on some 5 star dining. So whatever is most comfortable is what I'd bring.

You might want to bring some nicer things for the evening. Especially for the shows. Nothing fancy, but some black pants (capris, jeans, whatever) and a nice blouse would work.
Some people really dress up and you'll see some glittery evening gowns, but I never do. It's really a mix, but a t-shirt and shorts would be too casual for evening.

He's the kid that would invite everyone he knows over to the house if he had the opportunity where both DH and I were not here! Pool party :banana:Well then what are you worried about? :confused3 He'll have lots of company to keep an eye on him. :thumbsup2

Thanks for working on the schedule! It makes me hard not to be there all week though! Maybe I should cave in and stay all week, but I better see how my finances are closer to the trip. Yes, definitely groceries and liquor. I'm not a health nut, but I like yogurt with granola every morning; helps keep me regular! I'll bring my homemade granola and I'll try to find a store there that has the yogurt I like; what stores are you near? And water! Lots of water!! I'll probably bring coffee too, I have some Starbucks that DD boyfriend gave me for Christmas (he works at Starbucks); they're whole bean and in the freezer because he gave me ALOT! I can grind them just before coming for almost-fresh Starbucks!! YUM!! We'll definitely need flavored cream. Are you keeping track of all of this, Beth?

Thanks for working on the schedule! It makes me hard not to be there all week though! Maybe I should cave in and stay all week, but I better see how my finances are closer to the trip. I'm sure I can skip a weeks pay and just hang out by the pool and see the fountains. I mean really, who needs food?

Um, YES! Stay all week!!

And if you come in around 1-1:30 on Sunday, you can ride with Theresa and I.

OKay this is an updated schedule. Again, it's challenging since not everyone is here at the same time, so I can't make it all work perfect, but I think this is close. Let me know what you think.

Saturday June 27
I don't really have anything planned for this day.
I figured maybe just play it by ear, see what's left to do that hasn't been done. Or do some things again.
Also a good thing to do is check Tickets2Nite and see what cheap shows they might have offered for the evening. There are some afternoon shows as well.

Sunday June 28
Not sure if anyone will still be here this day or if everyone is leaving some time on Saturday.
For anyone still here, we can meet for breakfast or lunch. I'll leave it open.

I mean really, who needs food?:confused3 Booze is really all you need.

Are you keeping track of all of this, Beth?

In a word, no. lol
I have a Smith's, Albertsons, Vons, Costco, Sam's Club, Whole Foods, Target and a Walmart all pretty close by. So if you all make a list and email or PM it to me, I can pick up some things for you.

As for airport transportation, I just called your resort and they suggested if there are some of you coming in at the same time, to share a taxi.
Taxi's charge the same whether it's one person or four in the car, so splitting it would be a good idea.

He said a taxi will run between $15-$20 from the airport to the resort, and take about 10-15 minutes.
A shuttle will run $7 per person, but it's not direct and depending on where else it stops along the Strip, can take up to an hour or two. (this is what he said)

There is one he recommended if you do use a shuttle, http://www.bell-trans.com/
Hope that helps some!!

Oh, and Stacie did you see this on the hotel website: Call (877) 642-5060 for special requests, such as handicap accessible suites
Maybe you can call regarding a first floor unit. But make sure they can guarantee it. Some places will put in a request but that's it.

And if you come in around 1-1:30 on Sunday, you can ride with Theresa and I.See, Wendy, that right there is worth coming in early and staying all week!!

I know Jesse will be fine - it's the pool I'm worried about :rolleyes1 That many kids there, you just KNOW someone is going to pee in the pool :scared1:
Oh right. The pool. Well, you have a point there.

I forgot to say I probably won't see you all on Saturday, the 27th. That's my 16th wedding anniversary :lovestruc and I'll need to be home with my hubby that day. ;)
But if anyone is still around on Sunday, I'll meet up with you then. If not, I'll be saying good bye after Friday night.

OK, off to do some errands.

Sounds like a plan :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: I'm still trying to figure out if he's actually in school at that time. The schedule I have says there are school exams the week before and provincial exams the week of. I don't believe grade 8 has provincial exams (I found this out just after Christmas. Apparently the grades that did not have provincials did not have to go to school........ :scared1: Who knew and why did they not tell me :confused3).

He's the kid that would invite everyone he knows over to the house if he had the opportunity where both DH and I were not here! Pool party :banana:

Ok, just to prove what a complete noob I am, what is Atomic????? :confused3

Ummm, what is Olympic Garden??

Google OG. :rotfl2:

Atomic is a tattoo parlor.

Fly or drive down to Seatac and get a ding flight from Seattle to Las Vegas.

Right now on 6/24 there are $99 flights one way from Spokane to Las Vegas.

Ok I am coming on Wednesday morning. I am not missing the strippers!!!

Geesh I actually work at work yesterday and you chics are all sorts of chatty!!

Yeah, you aren't missing the strippers. Have your stripper cash ready.

Stacie, are you going to want groceries and liquor for the hotel? Do you want to send me a list and some money and I can make a store run for y'all? :confused3

Trust me, I'd happily pick you up and take you shopping once you get here, but after I thought about it, there is not one store just off the Strip that I'd want to shop at. :scared:
If y'all know what you want, I'd rather make the run for you and shop up where I live. :snooty: :rotfl:

Just let me know.

Also, I will have my car when I get there on Monday. So we can wait till then to grocery shop.

Will you brave the airport for me, Beth? I'm gonna try to figure out the shuttles or something, I always get lost in airports. I just follow the people off the plane and go where they go, and if it leads me to my luggage then all the better! :rotfl2:

Stay all week. You know you want to.

Just sent it.

Not sure about the shuttle, I did look and they don't have a Super Shuttle, looks like Grey Line. Beth??

And nothing yet on the timeshare. I will call them tomorrow if I don't get an email back by then.

Ok, so the story goes that on Friday night, Paul, Cesar and I decided to head back to the hotel, while Nikki and Camille were gonna go meet up with a friend of Camille at the Belagio. Camille is a glamazon and dressed up, while Nikki was wearing jeans, tshirt and sneakers. So when the got to the club doors, they said it was like Hollywood with the guy out there picking who was good enough to enter.

Camille was dressed up, Nikki was dressed butch. Important to remember. So Nik decided not to go, and kept pushing Camille to go up to the front. She kept looking back asking if she was sure. And then she ran back and gave Nik some money she was holding for her. But Nik kept pushing Camille up there. Telling her, don't let those girls get in front of you. The whole thing made it look like Nikki was the pimp and Camille was her "girl".

It was hysterical. Not sure if it translates in this post, but it was pretty darn funny.

I've been avoiding work all day - just not that into it :sad2: That's not good - it's how I pay for trips, right??? The good thing about working from home is I can work whenever I want, even in my jammies. The bad thing is I can ditch work REALLY easily whenever I want :scared1:

Ive been avoiding work today too. And I am here. Yikes. Its been a rough week. Major budget cuts meaning I am having to cut everyone one day per month till the end of fiscal year. Its rough. But better than the alternative.

I was doing more looking around Vegas sites and I came up with a list of other things that we might like to think about......

Hoover Dam? I have never been and have always wanted to go? Would anyone be interested in it?

Planetarium and Observatory? Yeah, I'm a geek.

Area 51? Total geek I guess.

I also didn't see on Beth's schedule the Bellagio fountatins (I have never got to see a whole show before) or Sirens (not sure if its good still).

One thing we should make plans for, and we should do it on the day when the most of us will be there is take pics infront of the "Welcome to Vegas" sign.

Now on to "different" shopping. I was checking out a lot of odd places to shop and I have a list that I think would be fun to check out.....

If you'd rather not say, I understand. I'm just looking for work from home options so I thought I'd ask.

OKay this is an updated schedule. Again, it's challenging since not everyone is here at the same time, so I can't make it all work perfect, but I think this is close. Let me know what you think.

SCHEDULE

Sunday, June 21
Arrival day for some of the ladies.
Check into the hotel and get settled.
I can meet you at hotel to drop off groceries, or we can make a store run.
Drive the Strip.

Breakfast in hotel room to save money.
Swimming if time allows?
Around noon meet up to tour some of the hotels: (none of them take very long)

Then walk to M&M World and the Coke store.

Back to hotel to rest and change for the evening.
Mirage for early dinner around 5. Options are BLT Burger, California Pizza Kitchen, or Carnegie Deli.
See Cirque's Love show at 7:00 located in the Mirage.
After the show, walk go down to watch the Mirage volcano, then walk across to TI to see the pirate show.
Then depending on how tired everyone is, either go back to hotel or out for drinks. Kahunaville in TI has flare bartenders. Parasol Up/Parasol Down lounge is across at the Wynn and overlooks the Lake of Dreams.

Tuesday June 23
Breakfast in room.
Massage at Stacie's new favorite place.
Shopping in the Forum Shops at Caesars, followed by a light lunch at Cheesecake Factory (they have great salads that are large enough to share or yummy appetizers)
Walk to Bellagio to tour conservatory and see fountains
If time, walk or taxi to Paris, maybe go up in Eiffel tour (the view is great!)
Back to hotel to change for dinner.
At night go to Tony and Tina's Wedding dinner and show @ 7:00.
Then to Diablos for drinks.

Wednesday June 24 (pictures at Vegas sign)

Dinner (or just drinks and appetizers) at Dick's Last Resort around 6:30
Thunder From Down Under @ 9:00

Thursday June 25
Breakfast in room
Maybe spend the day touring some of the hotels we haven't hit yet, and doing some gambling. Or perhaps Hoover Dam?

VooDoo Lounge (at the Rio) at 5:00 p.m. for drinks
Walk around the Rio, see the Show in the Sky
Head to Fremont Street and then off to Olympic Garden!

Friday June 26
Breakfast in room
Pool time? Free day, gamble, hang out, etc. (other ideas?? Planetarium and Observatory??)

Meet at Harrah's for an early dinner at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill. Then go to Harrah's Carnival Court to hear the live music and see the flare bartenders. Grab a sweet treat at Ghirardelli's ice cream and chocolate shop.
Hang out on the Strip, perhaps walk next door to Imperial Palace or down to Flamingos.

Saturday June 27
I don't really have anything planned for this day.
I figured maybe just play it by ear, see what's left to do that hasn't been done. Or do some things again.
Maybe Lucky Cheng's? Or drive out to Area 51?
Also a good thing to do is check Tickets2Nite and see what cheap shows they might have offered for the evening. There are some afternoon shows as well.

Sunday June 28
Not sure if anyone will still be here this day or if everyone is leaving some time on Saturday.
For anyone still here, we can meet for breakfast or lunch. I'll leave it open.

I was doing more looking around Vegas sites and I came up with a list of other things that we might like to think about......

Hoover Dam? I have never been and have always wanted to go? Would anyone be interested in it?
The Dam is about a 30-40 minute drive from the Strip. It's kind of neat. I've been before, back when you could take tours down into the actual dam. Now, it's just sort of blah because with the new security rules in place, all you can do it walk over it.
But if you've never been, it might be worth checking out. I added that as a possibility for Thursday since that day really didn't have much during the day.

Planetarium and Observatory? Yeah, I'm a geek.

Yeah, you are. :rolleyes1 :lmao: Just kidding! But you lost me on that one. I didn't even know there was one. I added it to Friday as an option since that day also didn't have any specific plans yet.

Area 51? Total geek I guess.

Now that I might do, but it's so far (about an hour and a half), and I've already had my fill of empty desert. :rotfl: But if you are into that, it could be fun. Check out the Little A’Le’Inn http://www.littlealeinn.com/ I think that might be a good Saturday option since the Strip will be busy on the weekend and it might be nice to escape.

I also didn't see on Beth's schedule the Bellagio fountatins (I have never got to see a whole show before) or Sirens (not sure if its good still).

I had the fountains written down on my paper, but forgot to type it in. It's there now after shopping at the Forum shops. Also the pirate show is already on there after Love since it's right next door. :thumbsup2

One thing we should make plans for, and we should do it on the day when the most of us will be there is take pics infront of the "Welcome to Vegas" sign.

This is a must!! I was trying to think of a time, but now that Debra is coming in on Wednesday, that would be the one and only overlapping day. So depending on whether or not Amy or Jane want to join us, we can either do it Wed night or Wed morning before the Venetian. :yay:

Now on to "different" shopping. I was checking out a lot of odd places to shop and I have a list that I think would be fun to check out.....

Well, the Dam is neat. I just wish you could get the full experience like before. But just to walk over it is impressive. If others are interested, then you should go for it. There is time during those last few days, to add things since they weren't as full as the beginning. I'll keep it in there as an option along with the other things I added. :thumbsup2

I also just for a whim, checked out flights for me in case I didn't want to drive. Way too much I think. $150+ for decent times to fly. Nah, cheaper to drive.

I tried to call the "customer care" number listed on the website. It said to call if you have special needs/requests, so I was just going to ask if you can request AND be guaranteed a first floor room.
I got a recording that said the wait time to speak to anyone was 18 minutes! I don't have that long to sit and wait right now as I just hopped back online to print out some directions.
So hopefully she'll hear something soon.

Anyways, I did get an email reply, and I'm also going to call them just to confirm that it's not just a request, that it's guaranteed. I'll post once I get around to doing that.

I'm just sitting here doing not much of anything today. Not that there's not stuff to do, seems like different parts of the house ALWAYS need to be cleaned! Why is that?!? If everyone picked up after themselves, it would just make things so much easier!!

And I may have another friend coming, trying to talk her into it. We may end up having to get a 2nd timeshare, then I'll call them again and try to make sure they'll be next to or close to each other, if possible.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully they will guarantee it.

So I was there today, at the resort! :yay: We drove down there to check it out. I couldn't drive around like I wanted and take pics though because there was a security guard there and he wouldn't let us. We has to drive in and turn around.

At least it's well guarded. We just saw a little bit of it. They are definitely doing some major remodeling. Lots of construction stuff everywhere. Makes it look a little run down, you know how it is during remodeling. But maybe it will be done soon, and I'm sure it's going to look great!

Koval Lane, where it's located, is a busy, busy street. At least it was today. And not nice at all. So no one out walking. Take a taxi or the shuttle, which we saw driving down the Strip.

I did take a few pics of what you see from the resort looking toward the Strip, and I'll post those later.

The Strip was sooooooooo busy today. OMG, it's going to be packed in June. And HOT!!! :scared1:

Then from there we go to Town Square for lunch. http://www.townsquarelasvegas.com/
They have a Tommy Bahama’s Tropical Café, a Claim Jumper, and a California Pizza Kitchen. And more shops, like Express, Gap, Gymboree, Bath and Body, etc.

Just another thought for some of those free days later in the week. :)

It's not actually in Caesars, but on the property in a separate building. They have one in New York City and I first heard about it on Oprah when she was raving about their Frozen Hot Chocolate dessert.

I think it's set to open sometime in April, so we can all go there in June!! Probably on the day we hit the Forum shops since it's right there. :thumbsup2 (we can eat there for lunch instead of the Cheesecake Factory if y'all want)

I've been reading their menu. It's a bit pricey, but it all sounds so dang good!!! I think we could split some meals (or just get appetizers) and share some of the desserts. Not the $1,000 sundae though. LOL!! The Peanut Butter Frrrozen Hot Chocolate sounds like heaven in a dish! Mmmmmm.

ETA: This is what you get for $1,000:
Made with "5 scoops of the richest Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream infused with Madagascar vanilla and covered in 23K edible gold leaf, the sundae is drizzled with the world's most expensive chocolate, Amedei Porceleana, and covered with chunks of rare Chuao chocolate, which is from cocoa beans harvested by the Caribbean Sea on Venezuela's coast.
The masterpiece is suffused with exotic candied fruits from Paris, gold dragets, truffles and Marzipan Cherries. It is topped with a tiny glass bowl of Grand Passion Caviar, an exclusive dessert caviar, made of salt-free American Golden caviar, known for its sparkling golden color. It's sweetened and infused with fresh passion fruit, orange and Armagnac.
The sundae is served in a baccarat Harcourt crystal goblet with an 18K gold spoon to partake in the indulgence served with a petite mother of pearl spoon and topped with a gilded sugar flower by Ron Ben-Israel."

However, I did spy in your photo with the bus a sign that advertised $1 margaritas!!! Aye caramba - we could get 1,000 of those for the same price :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
:lmao: :lmao: A 1,000 margaritas?? :rotfl2:

I really want to be there whole time. I am sure if I am in a lot of pain, its nothing that a vicodin/precocet/margarita cocktail won't be able to handle.
:thumbsup2
We all want you there the whole time, so I'll keep my bottle of vicodin handy for ya. ;)

This one sounds good too (although I still have never been to a Cheesecake Factory!!!!). I'm cool with whatever.

I'm bummed that I'm going to miss Lucky Cheng's though - I took a look at the website and it looks like a good time :thumbsup2
Well, I think we should go to Serendipity since it's something new and as far as I know they only have them on the East coast.
As for the Cheesecake Factory, don't despair! There is one only a few blocks from Disneyland and we already talked about adding a dinner or lunch there to our next DL trip, so you'll get to do both!!

As for Lucky Cheng's.......well shoot, I think you just need to find a way to stay the whole time like Debbie. :rolleyes1

Stacie, Harrahs has a great 72 hour sale. If you book before tomorrow they have some rooms for $39.

I went to Costco yesterday but is was so freakin crazy, I forgot to look for it. I will ask my friend to. If hers does have it, I will send you bottle.

Not sure where we are staying. DBF is making the arrangements. We are gonna visit with his kids when we go up there. So we are taking that into consideration. We want somewhere that has a decent pool, enough non adult activities, but not totally "kiddie" like Circus Circus. And we want it cheap. Looking online there were some that were really cheap, and ones that were get the third night free. But he hasn't decided yet.

Flamingo has a fun pool. It's a big area (about 15 acres) with water slides, grottos, waterfalls, and such. Not sure what the rooms are like but the grounds are nice, and there is the wildlife habitat for the kids, and Margaritaville for you.
I don't know if they have any specials but it might be worth looking into.

Thanks for the tip. We are also waiting on seeing if the kids will be on break that week or not. But the kids mom is nice about letting us see the kids when we can. She's accomodating. So at least that is a good thing.

I've been lurking but not posting a whole lot on this thread. I'm working hard to be able to come, so I don't want to put my two cents in until I'm more certain whether I can make it.
It all sounds so fun and exciting, though. I'm heading out on Tuesday-Sat. in Vegas w/DH and am so excited to be getting away! Whoo hoo! And, it's supposed to be nice and warm, so that's always a bonus.
I was going to suggest Flamingo, too, Stacie. There's always been a number of kids at Tropicana pool when I've been there. Otherwise, some of the off strip hotels, like the Orleans, have movie theatres, bowling alleys and other stuff, so that might be an option, too. And they do tend to be lots cheaper.

Actually, the Orleans is one of the hotels he is looking at. Very cheap, some of its been redone, the bowling alley is a plus, and the pool looks nice. I am leaving it up to him. He seems to like making the plans lately. It won't matter where we stay though. We get to visit his kids, and enjoy Vegas together. This will be the first time him and I go together. We have done day trips to pick up or drop off the kids, but haven't stayed and played in Vegas. It will be fun.

Stripper 101 will be a lot of fun. Its silly fun, nothing too crazy. You keep your clothes on. And they serve drinks.

There is always gambling to do and shopping. Plus lots of places have lounge shows and such to keep people entertained. And if nothing else, grab a drink and watch people.

That's the formula. I would be Suzette Mt.Shasta. Thank you no.

Yes, let's hang out while the others get their nekkid massages :scared1: I have never really liked massages (I am a wimp, but every time I have had one, I was in pain).

I am caving a little on the Stripper 101 thing - they do serve drinks, right??? I won't wear high heels for anyone though - that is just an accident waiting to happen!

I'm thinking yes........ eek!

I'm seeing that :thumbsup2

Work out???? WTH?? :confused3 Yuck! Drinks, yes. Clothes on, yes. Work out?? :scared1:

Great, now I'm caving in to peer pressure. Wait a minute...... You girls are the ones I warned my son about!!!

Stacie - you already booked your flight, right? Arriving at 1:00 p.m.? I will book mine tomorrow (arriving at 1:13....)

Yes, I did! I get into Vegas at 1:05pm.

YAY for the dark side and churros. :cool1:

Stacielee.........we're coming for you next.http://bestsmileys.com/evil/3.gif

Stay away from the dark side! Go to the light!!!

:rotfl2:

She will come around eventually. Even if we need to bribe her with a Mickey Bar.

Yeah, we need to take up the whole class. I dont' want no real "dancer" hanging around making us look bad. We can do that all on our own.

A Mickey Bar won't do it, unless it's solid dark chocolate...

That's the formula. I would be Suzette Mt.Shasta. Thank you no.

Of course we need Cheryl!

They are listed on the schedule on the front page missy, try to keep up! :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

There is a California Pizza Kitchen, which is good and one of my favorites, but nothing unique. I mean, you have one near you I'm sure so that's probably not our best choice.

And then there was BLT Burger which is fairly new and supposed to be really good. They have locations in Vegas and in NYC. They have Kobe burgers, lamb burgers, salmon burgers, etc. and for sides they have things like fried pickles, and 8 different types of fries.

They have the classic milkshake flavors, as well as ones made with Twinkies and one called The Lunch Box made with peanut butter and jelly. Some of their milkshakes are spiked.
Here is their menu: http://www.bltburger.com/PDF/eatin-vegas.pdf

The other option was the Carnegie Deli, where that pic is from. I've heard good things about their food, but so-so on their service. They offer breakfast served all day, and all different kinds of sandwiches, which are supposed to be huge and good. Here is their menu: http://www.mirage.com/files/carnegie_menu.pdf

I've never been to either one, so I can't recommend one over the other. I am open to trying them both, so it doesn't matter to me where we go. They are almost right across from each other in the Mirage so I'll leave it up to y'all. :thumbsup2

It's fine by me if you want to switch. Both are supposed to be very good, so I doubt we'd go wrong with either one. Both are probably about the same price range (meaning over priced! LOL). They are both in the Mirage, a few steps away from each other. So we can always play it by ear and see what we feel like eating when we get there, or which one is less crowded or whatever.
