Debra.. the movie i referenced is called.. Mary Shellys Frankenstein and came out in 1994.
Rejected by society, a creature (Robert De Niro) comprised of criminals' corpses and the brilliant brain of Dr. M. Waldman (John Cleese) plots revenge against his creator: the death-obsessed Dr. Viktor Frankenstein (Kenneth Branagh). Tom Hulce, Helena Bonham Carter, Aidan Quinn and Ian Holm also star in Branagh's Oscar-nominated (Best Makeup), ambitious adaptation of this classic horror story set in the early 19th century.
Starring: Robert De Niro, Kenneth Branagh
Director: Kenneth Branagh
With Robert De Niro, Kenneth Branagh, Helena Bonaham Carter and Aidan Quinn in it ...it should be a respected movie.
I'm just thinking it might get you in that mindset and allow you to hear some of the clipped language being spoken so that when you read it your brain has that association.

Oh yeah, that's me! But why am I smokin?? Or is that a dum-dum?
It's because you are smokin hot! :thumbsup2
Just poppin' in to say I love Silk! Good name for you!
Thanks. It's better than Yvonne. Nothing wrong with the name Yvonne, it's just not very exotic dancer-like. ;)
It was a lot of fun. He was in San Antonio for the weekend so we were going to do lunch on Monday but he decided to come back sooner and take me out Sunday night. We went to the sports bar and got a booth, we sat in that booth until they kicked us out at 2 just talking and getting to know each other. It was nice. Well we did leave for an hour or so to ride out to the other bars I go to, but they were dead so we went back. He's from Michigan, moved here for work. I love his accent. 37, very cute. :thumbsup2 I want another date.
That sounds great. I'm glad to hear it went well. Where in MI is he from? I am from there originally although I grew up in CA.
Well..... this was not a good weekend for our family. My younger sister in law had a very bad stroke. They do not know if she is going to make it, and they have 3 children.
Dawn, I am so sorry. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family. Keep us updated. I hope she is able to somehow pull through this.

Beth..we don't know what to pray. The left side of her brain is dead.. so..:confused3 ..and the stroke is so bad.. the future will just be more strokes as there is no treatment for this.
hhmmmm... her poor mom...you think you have your child raised they have a life of their own then something kicks in you never even knew they had and steals everything.
My brother in law is a minister and he keeps asking..when will i have my wife back? Their life has been devestated.

I mean when something like this happens, you just want them back, but as you said, she's not the same and never will be. I don't know. It's so tragic. And it really makes you realize not to take a single day for granted. You just never know when something like this will show up and take you away from your spouse and kids. It's honestly one of my greatest fears. :guilty:

Just poppin' in to say I love Silk! Good name for you!
The boas are awesome ladies. So much nicer than what I've seen in shops here. How many clamshells were they, Theresa?
They were so reasonable - only $4 each :thumbsup2 I'm glad they look good (you just never know on eBay!!!)
Torrid is a clothing store for "healthy" size women. Clothes are actually really cute and are cute for larger sizes, not just bigger versions of smaller sizes.
Hello my Vegas Divas!!!!! Less than a month to go. Can't wait! And I will be coming up on Sunday after all!!!
I just ordered some jeans from Torrid - very cute! Yay for coming to Vegas on Sunday :yay:
Theresa ~ I took that exotic dancer name quiz again today.......four times!
I got:
Red
Silk
Velvet
Lacey
I think it's trying to tell me I'm an article of clothing. :confused3 But I decided to go with Silk.
Yvonne was just too much like a real name, not a stripper name. :confused3 So Silk it is. ;)
Hey Silk, how you doin'?????
Yay! The check-in time for the timeshare is 4pm, but since we are supposedly getting the handicapped units, I'm hoping they will be ready when we get there.
I cannot believe it's less than 4 weeks!! Where did the time go???? :confused3
Woo hoo for less than four weeks :woohoo: Are you still arriving at around 1:15 on Sunday?? We should meet up somewhere and go to the time share together.... We're having brunch at around 11:00 a.m. at the Rio (I think) on Sunday........... Oh Silk, any suggestions???? Goddess of Vegas that you are :worship:

Well..... this was not a good weekend for our family. My younger sister in law had a very bad stroke. They do not know if she is going to make it, and they have 3 children. We found out yesterday that she has Cadisil Disease..it's rare and seems to hit when the person is in their 30s. Evidently a mutated chromosone lays dormant in the body until they are in their 30s then it awakes with a series of strokes that leave the person devestated.
Dawn - I'm so sorry to hear about this terrible thing for your family. My prayers are with them :flower3:
Life. Sucks.

Mystique, it's almost time for Vegas and some FUN TIMES - no sucking life then, 'K??? I promise to share my drinks with you :cool1: Us Vegas Virgins have to stick together, ya know??

See PM sent to you about an hour ago...
Theresa, that is a steal = those boas are much nicer than the ones that are selling for 5x the price at our local Aardvaarks. The color and feather quality... great at that price.

Okay i have a few questions about the trip:goodvibes
Monday..... what time do you think you will all be at Luxor?
At Luxor? I don't know. That day we are starting the touring at 10:00 at the M&M World store. From there we'll hit the Coke store, MGM and the lion habitat, NY NY, Excalibur, lunch at Dick's with out last stop being Luxor. Not sure what time it will be by then.
Tuesday.... what time are you going to go shopping at ceasars?
Some are doing the massage that day. Stacie, what time are you doing that? And how long does it run? Those not doing the massage can do Paris and the Eiffel Tower. We'll meet at Caesars Forum Shops when the massage is done. Call us.
Wednesday.. no questions
Okie Dokie.
Thursday...what time are you going shopping?
I'd say around 10. We will be taking the group pic in front of the Vegas sign on the way to shopping, and we do not want to be posing out there when it gets too hot and too busy! The other day we drove by the sign and there was a huge line to get a pic taken with it.
Friday ..when are you all planning on going to Madame Tussands?
After breakfast. Not sure on an exact time.
Of course the answers are guess~Ta~ments. I'm just kinda looking at planning my days.
Also.. say on thursday how do we meet up with you all?
Sounds like there will be room in the cars.
Some of the places are off the strip, will there be room for Wendy and I to catch a ride when it calls for a car?:confused3My answers are in red. Also I'd recommend right before the trip, printing out and bringing the schedule to keep handy. Sorry, I don't know how to do those fancy cards that Steph does. :rotfl2: Gotta print it yourself. ;)

How should Wendy meet up with ya'll for the Love show?
She can actually walk across to the Mirage from Caesars. I had dinner with Jen (grizbuzz) in Caesars, and I actually like the parking at Mirage better, so I parked at Mirage and just walked next door to Caesars.
Are you and Wendy doing dinner with us that night? The exit from the Caesars Forum shops is very close to the entrance to the Mirage where the restaurant is. It would be faster to walk than to drive or cab it.
I'm probably going to join the group for dinner, then walk them to the Love show area, take some fun pics, maybe check out the souvenir shop, and then just kick it in the Mirage until the show is over. What are your plans that night?

I would think we would either swing by and pick her up if we drive. If we do shuttle or cab, one of us can make a stop over there and have her ride with us. Don't want her riding solo you know. Aren't you guys planning on doing dinner with us that night?

Quick question.
Is anyone interested in seeing KA? We don't really have specific plans for Wednesday night other then eating at In-n-Out. (yum!!) We are going to do drinks and appetizers around the pool later that night, but for the main part of the evening, we don't have anything going on.
Anyway, there are discounts available on the MGM website. Buy one ticket, get one for $25. And they have availability for Wed. night.
I've seen the show, but if anyone is interested I wouldn't mind seeing it again. KA and Love are my two favorite shows on the whole Strip. They are very different, but both excellent.

I am arriving on Sunday. Not sure what time yet. Plan for it to be in the afternoon though. I will be driving in from my brothers or "sisters" place near Hermosa area. I hope to get out of there early since we are celebrating Father's day and birthdays the day before.
I am not sure if I am leaving on Saturday or Sunday. I am looking to stay till Sunday, but leave early in the day. I refuse to sit on the 15 parking lot. So there may still be a chance that I will just leave Saturday afternoon. I hate traffic.

Dawn, I am so, so, sorry to hear about your sister in law, what an absolute tragedy. My thoughts are with you.
I would be up for Ka if we're getting a good price (and it sounds like Beth found a deal)!
Work continues to be insane and I am gearing up for a full week's vacation starting Monday, so I will probably still be MIA for the next two weeks, but once my niece leaves on the 7th, I will then be totally focused on getting ready for y'all to arrive!

I'd love to see Ka!!
This is the kind of stuff I can't drag Paul to..lol.
Still waiting for an anticipated closing date so I can make more plans for the week you all will be here. But running away for a show at night should be easy.

I probably should add that my Sunday is P.M. Should i just take a cab, shuttle??? whatever?? and meet at the timeshare?Um, let's see. When your flight gets in, and you get your luggage and all, we will probably be at dinner. Maybe you can give us a call when you get in and see where to meet up. :confused3
There is a resort shuttle so maybe, depending on the time, it would be easiest to take that and meet at the timeshare. But I'd call. We'll figure it out.
I have a headache. My days has really sucked!!
:grouphug:
I guess I missed the Ka post. Whats up?
I was just talking with Theresa about what a great show it is, and she was the one who actually noticed on their website that they have a special right now.
Buy one ticket at regular price and get one for 25 bucks. So we are planning to see that on Wednesday night since the Haunted tour didn't pan out and we have a free night.
There is a 9:00 or 9:30 show that night which I think would work well. (There is a 7:00 show too, but I don't think we'd make that time.) We have the stripper class at 4:30, so that will give us time to finish that, grab some In-n-Out for a quick dinner and still make the show without too much rushing.
Then after the show, we can still do the wine/appetizers out by the pool. It should be just cool enough by that point.
It appears to be around $83 for a category 2 seat. If anyone is interested, let us know asap because I'm not sure how long the special is good for.
Are there any plans to go dancing at all? When I was there last month, Paris had a lounge with a decent DJ. Small dance floor, but a diverse crowd (AKA no barbie dolls). It was right there in the casino. I would love to go dancing. Anyone up for it? Or other suggestions for dancing?
I'll watch.
Seriously, I do not dance. :scared1: But I'll go with and hang out. The lounges and clubs are open late so we can do that just about any night.
I would be up for Ka if we're getting a good price (and it sounds like Beth found a deal)!
It was Theresa actually. :thumbsup2 It would be around $83 for a category 2 if you're interested for Wednesday night at 9.
I'd love to see Ka!!

I'm just wearing capri sweatpants, and a tee. I don't really have work out clothing, but if you do, that would be perfect. Basically anything that is comfortable to move around in.

As for clothing, just something comfortable. Kohls has some sweatpants that aren't too heavy, and they are short like capris, so I bought those. And then I'm just wearing a regular loose fitting tee.

Big Hugs for DebbieLouWho! How kewl you all got to see it. I love Mystere.. the music is so beautiful. How's your day going?
So who is up for Belle Epoque at Paris, Wednesday night?
For sitting and visiting over drinks and maybe some dancing?
CheryL..we can always play some slots afterwards or before or both.
Sounds good to me. A group heading over to see Ka (at the MGM right?) and we can do some chilling, drinking, dancing and slots over at Paris.
The slumber party sounds like fun times! No freezing any bras though, 'K??
This sounds like fun too - and it will be great in the evening, when it's cooled down. Love it!
Can't promise anything with the bra. It will depend on how much room we have in the freezer.
And yes, drinks and such by the pool when its cooled down. It will be more enjoyable that way.

I was checking the weather for June and there were some days in mid June that were 106 and 107. It's one of those things where you know it's coming, you just don't want to see it actually staring back at you. :sad2:

I'm glad the slumber party is still on! :cool1: It hadn't been mentioned in awhile so I wanted to make sure. It's going to be so fun. I think Amy even mentioned once that she was going to spend the night Friday with the group. Not sure if that will change now with the house situation, but hopefully she and Jane will both make it over.
I am definitely planning to spend Friday night as long as there is a small corner someplace that I can crash. It's going to be a really long week as I am juggling work, home and playing with all of you, but it is going to be so worth it to have everyone here in our fair city!

I know what you mean. One of Ruben's and my first visit's here was in June. I remember walking out of one of the hotel's and standing on the sidewalk waiting for the light so we could cross, and I couldn't handle it. I was burning up, my eyes hurt, it was miserable! I had to turn and go back inside.
Since then, I've gotten used to it. It's still unpleasant, but nothing like that first time.
The summer we moved here, when Ruben flew out to interview at the hospital, it was 115. That was in July.
One thing everyone needs to do is just remember to drink lots of water. ::yes::

I remember that same summer that I mentioned in my other post, when it was 115, there had been reports of people's tires popping from the heat. I don't know if that's true or not. :confused3
'Course that's rare. Typically in summer we are around 102 or 103 at the hottest. IF we get super hot days, they don't last long. And my mom lived in Central CA and she'd get days that were 102-105 so it's not only here it gets like that.

Well, Vegas ladies and novice strippers, GOOD NEWS! WE HAVE RINGS!:yay:
I bought all your rings today. They did not make them in pink so if that was your first choice, I went down your preference list and got you your second choice. They are such fun costume bling (I got myself some too) and will go great with the boas. 4 clamshells a ring. The colors they had were purple, red, green, clear, blue.
Theresa, got you two as requested. Dawn, I got yours since I know you were unable to get one yourself. If you don't want it, maybe someone else will want a second color.
I felt so bad when I couldn't find them before and could not find anything like this on the internet. But now you'll have 'em for your trip. :woohoo:princess:
I gave them to Stacielee and she is bringing them to Vegas. She will do the letter collection then, I think that's the easiest.

I'll try to take some and post them this weekend. She's asleep now--finally. She goes whacko in the evening--a ploy--I am convinced--to keep herself awake. then when I put her in her crate it's "lights out" almost immediately
I need to do a little shopping. I have casual clothes, and dressy clothes, but nothing in between.
I think I am going to try to do some shopping this weekend too.
I told you that you would love those jeans. I love that they are so light I can wear them all the time and not get hot or feel weighed down by them.
Avenue you say?
Im not sure yet. James thinks he may have to work tomorrow, so we haven't made plans yet. I probably will end up cleaning if we don't do anything. Yeah, I get to scrub the grout in the shower. We have been talking about going to the drive in though. So we may do that. Sunday is still up in the air. Got to run some errands and Tay wants to go to a friends house. Will see whats up later. Yep, mi vida loca.
COLOR] sounds about like my weekend. Bella and Chase are going to the vet at 9 am. then I bring chase home and Bella and I will go to the office for a few hours. I am either going to leave her in the office for a couple of hours or bring her home first and then go to a haircut/color appt. (gotta look good for Vegas!). Really, that's all I've planned this weekend, because next weekend I have my Red Hat Society lunch on Sat. and then my final Food and Wine Sweet Sunday on Sun.
I still haven't bought stripper shoes but I think I have a pair already that will work so I'm bringing them. Not sure how I will accomplish dancing in them. :scared1::lmao: Have your cameras ready.
Have I said I am excited to meet everyone???
I had a stressful start of the evening. I was going to go out but thought I really rather stay in and be alone. Soooo I've tried on clothes, and figured in my head what to pack for my two trips and had a few drinks. I am relaxed now.
[COLOR="red"] I'm excited to meet you too! Glad your evening turned out ok--will be anxious to hear about your WDW trip!

Just some random thoughts... since my head is still in Disneyland!!
Yes to dancing with Stacie. No to Ka, I've gotta draw the money line somewhere; guess that means another trip to Vegas in the future! Late night drinks and snacks sounds good!
Yes to the slumber party! And more late night drinks and snacks!
Yes to Beth trying jello shots, what kind are we having this time?
Glad you got my letter; I'll be collecting letters for the rings there and send them to Donna. The rings look so cool!
I have some black capri sweats that I'll bring, and some type of t-shirt, not sure about heels yet... I don't really have any, but I'll look again.
The CD I'm working on will have pretty much all 80's music on it, since we've all lived during that decade, some more than others!! It's weird to think that Wendy was born AFTER I graduated from high school!! I don't FEEL that old!! :confused3 Hopefully I don't act that old either!!

Or if they are the same we can split the number to make? Or if you were just making one for the condo, I'll make the rest. Just let me know. We can figure it out together.

DebbbieLouWho... yesssss... i live like maybe 15 minutes from new mexico... we drive up there alot for lunch or maragaritas at this kewl little restruant called the Double Eagle..
http://www.double-eagle-mesilla.com/history.htm
It looks fancy but it's really laid back in away only new mexico can be.
Here is a link to some of their recipes..the pine apple salsa is super good.
http://www.double-eagle-mesilla.com/html/appetizers.html
But we love their award winning magaritas..they are so wonderful!
They also have a funky cabo wabo magarita that has a piece of real turqouise in the bottom of it. But the award winning is the best.
Mesilla is a very old little town..and often they have music in the square..they have a candy store and a really good bookstore that you find all kind of treasures in.
I have always wanted to have a shop in one of the old pueblos and put my paintings, hoodies and other art in it. So i'm creating things and putting them away and perhaps one day when the economy picks back up i will open my own shop.
When DH and I retire we want to move to new mexico and build a house with my parents. We four drive up to ruidosa all the time and dream about it together.:goodvibes

CheryL... my mom is kitchenly challenged.. she can make... tacos and fried chicken....that's it. But she makes those two things really good. Very simple and very basic. Mama's tacos are always good.. whether they are my mama, your mama or stacie's mama! I like how my mom always cuts up her lettuce, tomatoes and onions then mixes them together with a little lime, salt and pepper then let's it sit for an hour. It makes the flavors so ripe. I always fry the corn tortillas because some people like them crunchy, other's crispy and then some soft.
Cullen will come over too so it should be a good time.
So... Just to get it straight...
Stacielee is making an 80's mix cd.

Nope, not bored. The first movie was the Museum, and it was funny and cute. Then made the potty break during intermission. Yuck! Nasty bathroom with signs reminding me (in spanish) not to wash my dishes in there. Nasty! Wolverine was sooooo good. I loved the movie. Answered questions from the other movie. Well, he is just concerned that when the time comes I won't want to move in with him. He wants to get a house, but wants to make sure I plan to go with him. He also wants to make sure I am comfortable with the fact that he wants to marry me in the future. He said he will ask with the time is right, but wants to make sure its something I see with him.

CDCP Notice - Please Read
The Center for Disease Control has issued a medical alert about a highly contagious, potentially dangerous virus that is transmitted orally, by hand, and even electronically. This virus is called Weekly Overload Recreational Killer (WORK). If you receive WORK from your boss, any of your colleagues or anyone else via any means whatsoever - DO NOT TOUCH IT!!! This virus will wipe out your private life entirely. If you should come into contact with WORK you should immediately leave the premises.
Take two good friends to the nearest liquor store and purchase one or both of the antidotes - Work Isolating Neutralizer Extract (WINE) and Bothersome Employer Elimination Rebooter (BEER). Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system.
You should immediately forward this medical alert to five friends. If you do not have five friends, you have already been infected and WORK is controlling your life.

hhmmmm.. i wonder how DebbieLouWho is doing with Frankenstein?
I'm the HaPpPy girL.. i just figured out a nice promo to give to our clients for realtor rally. It's the first week of october. I always create the booth and give aways for our company. Each year they pick a theme.. this year it's Arriba! So i have already sketched out the booth and will now start to put it together. When you give away 500 promos and have 4 stations that give away 500, you have to plan ahead. I just decided to handpaint 500 wooden crosses in 4 separate colors then sand them a little to look distressed and finish with a couple of milagro { silver charms} on them. Then we will bag them, made a company logo header and package them up prettily.
So the first station they get a bag with the company logo.
The second a company logo mousepad.
The third some logo'd mints
The fourth the pretty wooden crosses.
In the center of the table we will have a giant jar filled with little pinto beans and people can try to guess how many are in it. The winner will receive a nice framed print by a hispanic artist.
By making stations..it's kinda like trick or treating.. and it gives our escrow officers a chance to market to people individually. We do shifts throughout the day and rotate staff members. So everyone gets time to work the booth and market themselves and the company.
The guessing game makes it interactive, and keeps people at our booth.
One year the theme was the Wizard of Oz. And I designed a theme around the musical Wicked. We had our companys logo then... Wicked's Martini Bar.
We served .. ruby red slipper martinis, yellow brick roadtinis, and emerald city martinis. Then I made a chex snack mix and packaged it with the company logo and called the bags.. Munchkin mix. Everyone loved it.
All the other booths had people in costumes.. our booth, everyone wore all black and had a pretty Wicked green scarf on, the men wore all black and had a triangle of the green in their shirt pocket. It looked so clean and sharp. I also made a kewl mix cd of music from the wizard of oz by jazz musicians..so it had a kewl vibe playing at our booth.
I love doing this..it's soooo much fun!
One year the theme was It's a Jungle out there!
And we did our booth African themed.. with tribal masks. I made a special blend of african coffee and bagged that up with a company header as a giveaway. And also made 500 handcrafted paper mache african masks then handpainted them..People really like the specialty things like that. And I also made a well and we took up a collection for the african clean water fund.. our company matched what was donated.
I try to think of different and unique things. Whatever the first thought is.. I set it aside and move on to the next.. because what comes easily to the mind will be what everyone thinks of. I want ours to be unique.

As you know, we didn't book the tickets for Tony & Tina's in hopes of getting some the day of at a discount.
When I was down on the Strip last, I stopped by one of those discount ticket booths to ask about how often they are offered. The guy said ever since the show moved from Rio (where Ruben and I saw it) to Planet Hollywood, it's been selling out, and so therefore not offered as often at a discount.
They did have lots of other shows available like Carrot Top and some other magic and comedy shows.
So, here's my proposal. Let me know what you think.....
I say we check that morning as planned for the tickets. IF they don't have them, why don't we do a comedy? :confused3 We've got all these other really wonderful shows planned, and I AM excited about them, but I'd love to just grab some cheapo comedy tickets and spend the evening LMAO. kwim?
And IF they don't have the Tony and Tina's tickets, we'd also need a new dinner plan (because that was a dinner show), so I was thinking what about Pink Taco at the Hard Rock? (Does everyone like Mexican? Get some margaritas, chips and salsa? yum!!)
Here is the website if you want to peek at the menu: http://www.pinktaco.com/
So bottom line, we can check for Tony and Tina's tickets, hopefully they have them because it is a great show, but if not, we can grab some cheap comedy show tickets, and do dinner at Pink Taco.
What says you? Let me know. Those are simply suggestions. I'm not trying to be pushy or whatever, just trying to throw ideas out there. :flower3: If that sounds good to anyone, let me know. :)

Yeah, I usually pack a beach towel with me whenever I go places. I hate using the skimpy ones for the pool area. I just want to make sure towels won't be an issue. I have a ton of hair on my head and have to use one towel just for my turban. It gets soaked. Sometimes I can't resue it. So I just want to make sure we don't come up short or I am the towel/turban hog.

The only information I can find is this "we provide one housekeeping service during your week’s vacation with us." I think before when we've had a washer/dryer in the timeshare, we're pretty much expected to wash them. I guess that means we need to bring some laundry detergent & fabric softener. I am definitely bringing my own pool/beach towel.

We watched that too. They are so annoying! Why are they even there??? Didn't they know what they were signing up for? Just leave already, and stay gone.
I think Chippendales breaks down to about $16 each. Stacie, Cheryl and I bought tickets (they were buy one pair, get one pair free) for $49 each.......I think. (wait, was it $49 or $39??)
If it was $49, that makes a total spent of $147, divided by 9 of us going, equals $16 each, right?
Someone wanna check my math. lol
Now, if Dawn and Wendy go, it will bring the price down because we'll divide it by 11.
In any case, the tickets are regularly $50 each, so we still saved a lot.
As for OG, I think the cover is $25 and then whatever drinks you buy.
