Vegas must really be affected by the recession. I am getting at least 3 offers each week from different casinos. I wonder what some of the casinos bottom numbers look like in a comparisson between 2 years ago and this year?
I love to look through Ceasars Forum mall.. but i always say..when you look in the door of a store and there are less than 50 pieces of clothing in the entire store..don't even bother going in.:rotfl:

I think it's just Debbie and I who will be staying there the first night. I thought WTH, we're there for Phantom anyway and it's just one night...... I wanted to stay at one over the top fantabulous Vegas hotel, even for only one night :woohoo:

That's $100 more, so the cheapest change would be the saturday arriving at 10:30 a.m.Wow, they really get you with all their fees. I hate flying. :sad2:
My mother stayed at the Venitian and she said it was to die for.
We've stayed there before and it's really nice. More recently we stayed at the Palazzo, the new sister property of The Venetian, which is even nicer and newer. I might have some pics from there......
It is a gorgeous property! Who all is going to stay there?Debra is sharing a room with Theresa the first night.
So who all is meeting in vegas this weekend?
No one that I know of. Unless they arranged a meet without me!
But next Friday the 22nd, Amy, Jane and I are meeting up with Donna for lunch. :)
I wanted to stay at one over the top fantabulous Vegas hotel, even for only one night :woohoo::thumbsup2

These are my pics from our room at the Palazzo which is the expansion of the Venetian.
Theresa, we've stayed at the Venetian twice. The first time we were in the original rooms which are done in a blue and gold color. The second time we were in the newer remodeled rooms which are almost identical to these at the Palazzo. Maybe you can request a newer room when you check in.
Both are nice though, so you really cannot go wrong. :goodvibes

I have been pretty busy. bleh...

Beth...that sounds like a great deal to me! I Love to just go stay the night in a hotel, and that one is really great!
My mom has become obsessed with The Farm game online:confused3 i don't know anything about it... she just tells me... all our crops burned up because your dad didn't harvest them.:rotfl2:

I am sooo bored and ready to go home. I'm ready for a relaxing evening. My dd is going to her bf's grandpas house so it's my first night alone since all the drama started in my life. Then tomorrow night I'm going to salsa night with a girlfriend of mine. Finally a break.
I'm wearing a black dress to love, another dress to tony & tina's and my black & white zebra dress to chippendales. Is Friday night a dress up night?

That sounds cute. You're going to love Love. (That always sounds weird, lol) It's a fun show. They have a cute little gift shop by the main entrance so if anyone is a Beatles fan, save some money to pick up some souvenirs there.
I don't know what I'm wearing to Phantom. :confused3 I keep meaning to go through my closet but never do.
I bought a dress! I was inspired by Dawn. Doubt I'll ever wear it though. It's not a slinky, little black dress. Far from it. It's bright, and bold with a floral pattern. And I bought a white shrug to wear over it. I look very June Cleaver-ish. :rotfl2:
I should just return it and buy more tees and jeans.
My mom has become obsessed with The Farm game online:confused3
I tried to play that because someone sent me an invitation to join it, but I got confused so I stopped. lol

It's a fun game. Your mom should add some of the Divas to her Facebook and then they can be added as neighbors and send gifts! I love playing it - I have the cutest little pig :thumbsup2

You can dress up every night if you choose. Or dress down. that's the great thing about Vegas, no matter what you are wearing, you will still fit it.

Keep the dress. I think it sounds cute. Plus, you need at least one outfit thats different than what you normally wear. It will make you feel good. Trust me.
But I also do the tees and jeans.

OKay, what do you mean you are avoiding the gondolas?? No you aren't. I won't let you. They are fun, and totally steady. You will be fine, and it's so nice to float down the canal by all the shops and be serenaded. :)
Okay, since my Mom died I've gained about 5 pounds. I just tried on my dresses and yikes. :confused3 It's going to be hard to diet at WDW. Well, you went through a very rough time, so it's not surprising.
But you still have time before your WDW trip. 5 pounds isn't much. You could probably lose it before you go, and then with all the walking in WDW hopefully maintain the loss while you are there.

You guys are all too hard on yourselves. I bought a cute suit from Sears at the end of last summer. Its cute, fits well, keeps the girls in place, and doens't make my flaws look worst than what they are. Im sure you guys look fine in your suits. Remember, I gained 50 pounds since starting school, I don't feel the best about myself in a swimsuit, but I sitll wear it. I know its easier said than done. But come on....swimming is fun. You are missing out by being to worried about your bodies. Seriously, when it comes down to it, no one cares. And anyone who does is just feeling bad about themself and wants to deflect it onto someone else. Suit up!

It can't be that bad. And its not your body that was the issue, the issue was the suit was too small. Get a healthy girl's swim suit and you will be fine.

Hey guys!!! I know I'm not joining this trip, but I got lonely over on the Disneyland thread!!
But I am in agreement with Stacie about--c'mon buy yourself a suit!! I know that I am a bit extreme...since I am the TOTAL water baby and spend about 4 hours a week swimming laps, but I wear my bulgy speedo with pride. No one cares what you got going on in your suit as long as you buy the appropriate suit and what you have going on is kept INSIDE the suit!!
I had a friend who spent an entire pool type vacation out of the water in a cover-up. Not wearing a suit didn't fool anyone...we knew she was chubby under that terry cloth, might as well brought it on out and gotten in the water!!
I would about NEVER give up a chance to play in a fun pool!!!

Exactly!
Seriously, I use a butt curtain at times, board shorts, cover ups and such to hide things when walking to and from the pool. But I am not about to miss out on things because I gained 50 pounds. Life is too short.

TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! ("curtain" - :rotfl2:)
I've used board shorts and swim skirts that velcro over your swimsuit. I buy my suits from Land's End which has all sizes and even long torso versions. I love tankini styles that are easy to get on and off but look like a one piece.
And - I have a skinsuit. This is a long sleeved, long legs, very lightweight stretchy material usually in black. It can be used under wetsuits or by itself to prevent sunburn or rashes from a boogie board. And it's also great at hiding cellulite. Prevents stings from jellyfish and other sea creatures.
Okay, switching topics, I am so sad to say that I went to Dl today (I had to rush back inside the house to print out the ring order sheet) and they told me they haven't had the rings for months.:scared:
Now I bought Beth's in Feb. And then I had called them way back when Beth asked for another and the woman said to me, "Don't worry, we always stock these." Anyway, it wouldn't have helped for anyone else to try in the last month or so as it must have been right after I spoke to her that they sold out. :furious:
I even checked other shops that had carried them too and they said the same thing.
So it is my quest now. I will keep trying and let you know what I find. Sometimes I worry about posting anything on these boards because it seems like lurkers rush down and buy them out. <sigh> If anyone is headed down there, I can give you the list.

That's what happened! :rotfl2:
I ended up in the dressing room trying on a swimsuit and sitting down wearing a too small one piece, near tears, eating a granola bar.Ugh, don't you hate that. Seriously. I've been there, done that. Not just with suits but with other things.
Were you bummed about something else already? The reason I ask, is because my mood greatly affects how I think I look. Meaning, my weight and everything can stay the same, but if I'm already stressed about some other aspect of my life, my confidence ends up shot, and I think I look like crap.
But on a good day, when things are going smoothly and I go out or go shopping, if I feel good, well rested, and such, then I think I look pretty darn good, even though nothing has really changed. Kwim?
So only shop when you are in the right frame of mind and feeling good. I hope that makes sense.
Not wearing a suit didn't fool anyone...we knew she was chubby under that terry cloth, might as well brought it on out and gotten in the water!!
 You mean people know I'm really chubby under here???
;) I know what you mean. Sometimes I like to think I can hide it, but really, who are we kidding. :rotfl: Thanks for the advice, and come over and play here anytime.
You forgot the most important thing--alcohol!!!! and jello!
I just thought we'd buy those here during our grocery run. ;)
It was. I thought it would be too big.
I've done that too. Tried on something that to me, looked huge and I thought no way will that fit, only to have it fit perfectly. :scared1:
Hang in there hon. Don't be so down on yourself. No matter what, you are beautiful, fun, and a total sweetheart. Always remember that.

Here is the ring list I made. I thought I would post it in case Cheryl is in the parks. It also gives everyone a chance to see their order.
Whoever finds them first should call or email us so we don't duplicate.
5 purple (including Dawn), 3 pink, 1 blue, 1 green.
Rings:
Stacerita, Theresa, Beth, Debbie, Cheryl, Stacielee, Donna, Marcie, (and Dawn is a maybe – see note below)
1) Stacerita: green/purple/blue/pink/whatever
2) Handle on the board: Queenbillabong/Theresa/Bambi
1st color choice: Pink
2nd color choice: Purple
3rd color choice: Blue
4th color choice: Green
So I guess yes, I will take whatever color there is
3) Theresa wants a second ring - so go down her list for the next ring.
4) handle on the board:MommaU4/Yvonne/Beth
1st choice color: Blue (it was so pretty!)
If that's not available, I will take which ever color you think is the most brilliant/shiny.
5)
handle on the board: Jordansmomma/Princess
1st choice color:Purple
2nd choice color:pink
3rd choice color:Blue
Will take any color:

6) handle on the board: Stacielee/Stacie

Donna, thanks for posting that and keeping track of it all. Hopefully something will work out. If not, other places sell those fun, funky rings. I have a pink heart one from Kohls that would work too.

Stacerita will be good at coming up with a name!
the only thing I can think of is DisQueens.
Just got back from DL--
saw Stacielee for a bit yesterday--one downside of having a puppy is that you can't hang out TOO long. It was good to see her--we actually chilled for a bit on the front porch of one of the places on Main Street having coffee and chatting. did a couple of rides, had lunch and I came home.
Today I had the Sweet Sundays event with some people from another site. It was strawberry day--the desserts were a strawberry shortcake (pretty traditional--but good), a strawberry ice cream bon bon with white chocolate coating, and an ice cream sandwich made with a macaroon and strawberry sorbet (that was the best). Then, as if I wasn't stuffed enough (they give you a breakfast brunch) I met some people from another website for lunch! Dawn and her DH came and it turned out Stacie and her DBF and daughter were in the park too so they joined us--along with Yellow Mickey Ponchos and her family. Now I am SLEEPY. I just had part of the pizzetta salad because I really was pretty full (and honestly don't see what people rave about).
so I think I'm going to go take a nap and will chat with you all later!

Stacie--I LOVE the Paradise Pier. If I can't get a super-great rate at GCH, then my "go to" place is the PPH. I like it better than the DHotel. Plus, you can walk through the GCH and take the back ways in (don't walk through DTD unless you want to go through there). The rooms are large and I feel well-appointed. My ONLY complaint is that the elevators are notoriously slow--especially going downstairs in the morning (so if you're on a lower floor--go up to go down--KWIM?)

I may consider switching then. How are the bathrooms there? Big and roomy? The tub nice? Or is it just a regular/smallish bathroom? I have a regular size bathroom at home, so when we go away, we like a treat KWIM? Compare it to Hojo if you can. Thanks!

I may consider switching then. How are the bathrooms there? Big and roomy? The tub nice? Or is it just a regular/smallish bathroom? I have a regular size bathroom at home, so when we go away, we like a treat KWIM? Compare it to Hojo if you can. Thanks!
The bathroom is similar to Hojo in that it is a normal tub. Nice vanity--but your standard tub with shower curtain. The bed area is bigger--usually has a day bed type thing and a desk with a chair. If you want a "tub for two" this would not be the place--but for that matter even the standard rooms at GCH wouldn't be either.
LOL--did you see the Roman tub in my bathroom? I've never been in it--hmmmm maybe I'll have to have you and James house sit sometime and you can try it out!

I will stick with what I have already. Its a nice sunken tub. I think its jetted as well. Should double check that. Thanks.
Yes, I did see your tub. Can't believe you never been in it. Don't let James hear you offer. He may just show up at your place with a plane ticket in hand for you to get gone. But seriously, if you ever need a house sitter, let me know. We are also pet friendly.

Taking out the vanity, sink and cabinets and re doing all of them. Changing the whole theme of the bathroom. Plus we are re painting and re doing all the fixtures as well.
It should be done in a few days.
We re did the kitchen a few years ago and that about killed us. Took more months to do than we planned on, and it just sucked all the way around. Love the kitchen now though.
The bathroom is going from a nautical theme with navy blue and white with gold fixtures, to white, with black and gray and brush nickel fixtures. Not sure how to explain. I will try to take some pics.

LOL. I will probably start off by packing the things I bought for the trip, and things I said I was gonna bring. Then I will toss in some clothes and shoes. But I leave my suitcase open so I can add or subtract as needed. Then I will over stuff my suitcases, and when I realize that, I will try to downsize. But I will end up just grabbing another bag. Then I will add more shoes and then make sure everything is topped off in my tolietry bag.

See, that's the good thing about being in driving distance! I have to carefully weigh everything plus leave room for picking up stuff while I'm away. My suitcase can't weigh more than 50 pounds total :scared1: Not fair!!

I would love to see photos. So you're replacing the sink and cabinets then? I need to remodel my bathrooms in the worst way. I've got this marble top that goes the length of the bathroom (picture a long skinny room) and not sure if I should bring in guys to shine it up or not. I've heard it's possible.

Yes, the West Coast of BC gets a lot of earthquakes too. We're on a fault line (a couple, actually). I used to hate it when I worked downtown in a hospital and you could feel the buildings swaying -

Debra, I hope your AC gets fixed soon. I remember when we lived in MI for three years, we had no air conditioning at all. Typically in Northern MI you don't need it. You need heat more than anything. lol
But we had a few really hot days each summer where it would be humid and over 90, and those days were just miserable. :scared:

Hi Jane! I sent you a PM. :thumbsup2
Saturday gals (Debra, Theresa, and Cheryl too if you're there in time) I just wanted to toss out another lunch idea. There is a place in the Venetian called the Grand Lux Cafe. http://www.grandluxcafe.com/menu.htm
It's actually owned by the founder of the Cheesecake Factory so a lot of the menu is very similar. Check it out, and especially check out the desserts! Some of them are baked to order....... (drool!!)
I've never been there, but I've heard it's just as good as the Cheesecake Factory, so that's another option. I will leave it up to you. The Cheesecake Factory is in Caesars so maybe you'd prefer to see some of Caesars and not just stay in the Venetian. Or maybe you'd prefer not to have to do any walking and just stay in the hotel and kick back until the show.
OR we can go to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch and hit the Grand Lux for a fresh baked dessert after the show.
Think it over. We can always decide that day. :goodvibes

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say that we have the Grand Lux here at the Beverly Center. I've eated there a few times and at Cheesecake many many times. (but I don't know if I've ever had the cheesecake because the meals are so big).
The Lux is more expensive and a tad fancier. I recall the food was great at both places. If money is an issue, you'll have just as good a time at the Cheesecake as the Lux. If you're only going for dessert, it probably won't matter that much.
Both are wonderfully yummy.

You are so welcome, Beth. It was really fun seeing you two in person again! Poor Amy, I hope she recovers in time to enjoy part of her holiday weekend.
Everyone - you are going to have a fabulous time in June, Vegas is so amazing. And I didn't even see it lit up at night the way you will! The big intersection as you enter the strip is like Times Square on steroids. And everything is bigger than you can imagine. I wish I had worn a pedometer today so I'd know how many steps I took - and I never left Mandalay Bay!
I see why Beth says you will need comfortable shoes. She's not kidding.
We were having so much fun that Beth and Jane wished they could play hookey but both really had to return to real life (Beth to pick up her kids and Jane to a work meeting). I had a little planned casino time. So many machines! And they're all colorful and singing out, doing a little song and dance vying for my money. My fantasy is I'll put a dollar into a machine and it will spit out a million. I was drawn to a $1 machine because it had a payout of 6 or 7 figures. It said something about three dollars so I fed it three dollars. And with three quick tries, there went that money!
I quickly moved on to the penny machines. I found a Leonardo one that had paintings and jewels. Okay, I would rather stare at those than some donkeys and cherries. I fed it $5. I could barely understand how it determined when I won and when I lost but I was doing some winning.
Then some Italian girls came and sat down two seats over from me. One was yelling into her cell and they all three were smoking. I looked over and realized they weren’t even playing the slot machines – they were just using this as a place to sit and smoke and drink. But I didn't want to leave my machine.
Anyway, I was playing along, not winning, and then it said something about how I was a random winner. It wasn’t like the right paintings lined up or anything – but it more than doubled my money.
That seemed like a good time to move on.
I found the video poker which to me takes more skill than these slot machines (or maybe I just don’t understand them). I know poker, so I did jacks or better. I was distracted by some college kids behind me. They hit some jackpot on their slot machine and it was spinning and spinning. Every 30 seconds the guy would say, “it’s still f-ing going!” Then he’d say to the girl, “You’re buying drinks!” They were just a shade short of screaming. I figured maybe this is what you do when you win big. You let everyone know.
After what must have been 15 minutes of this, the machine finally stopped. We were all curious to see what they’d won. It had to be big money. $10,000? $50,000? No. $50.
They stopped screaming.
Anyway, returning to my poker, I was winning enough to double my money (hey, much better than current CD rates!), when I thought I should consult my phone to see what time it was. It was 5:15 and my flight was 5:45! I fell victim to the well-known “no-clock” policy!
I cashed out, hopped in a cab. The doorman said to take Tropicana to get to the airport fast. The cab driver thought that meant go to the Tropicana club first, but I managed to straighten him out. Happily, no one was flying out of Vegas this weekend and the security line was empty. I made it on the flight with a few minutes to spare.
As we climbed into the air, I looked out the window and saw Mandalay Bay shimmering in all her goldness in the sunset. I wondered who was sitting at my lucky poker machine now... and would they win the jackpot?
Maybe it'll be one of you.

Speaking of winnings in vegas.
What is everyone's practice on that?
If you win do you play with those winnings?
Or do you cash them out and save them, then put new money in?
Or are your winnings stolen by evil monKeys?
for me, if it's a win of over 20 dollars i cash it out and save it.
then when i go home i turn them in and go home with a little money for the next trip.
but i've had trips when i was sssqqquuueeellloorrrring to Bob.. give me 20 more.. this is a LucKy machine.. i can teLL!:rotfl2:

Thanks, Beth. I hope you feel better (I hope it wasn't the humidity in Shark Reef...).Oh no, not at all. I think since it's been hotter, I need to increase my water intake. I rarely drink water anymore and I need to.
Alright i made a page for Little Churro on Facebook.
I sent him a friend's request.

Winnings?? What winnings? I never win. But if I did, I'm sure it would then be stolen by the evil monkeys. :sad2:

I am so tired today!
The lip sync last night was so much fun!
We are all moving along so slow today!
The boys are getting ready so we can go to the carnival--have I mentioned I hate carnivals? Carnival rides are the worst!
Winnings....I never win anything.......those darn evil monkeys laugh and me and go running away with my money!!

Thanks, Theresa! I am doing some traveling in July and that was another reason that I decided I needed to move up my little Vegas visit. I know you guys are going to make some great memories there. I will have to enjoy the stories.... ;)
(three kind dorky college guys sat behind me on the shuttle in from the airport. One said that his other friend asked him what he was going to do in Vegas. He told him, "See some shows, drink a lot, and then see what happens." They were out of some college road trip movie.

Yum. The balloon festival, is that the kind where you go up in the air in a basket?

Hi Vegas gals!!
Donna...so sorry I missed your visit. I actually dragged my butt in the shower and got dressed, thinking I could make it. But I am still barely able to walk across the room without having trouble breathing, so I decided heading to the strip (where you can't really avoid walking) was probably not the best idea.
Sounds like you all had a blast and I wish I could have been there!!
I'm just trying to get my strength back. It kills me to be sick. So much I have to do, especially now. I of course brought work home and got this crazy idea I would use this home time to work ahead in school also but I really can't think straight enough to do any of that.
Tomorrow is the last day of my antibiotics and I honestly don't feel any better, might need to go back in for something else.
About the Vegas trip...I am definitely coming to Love, and will drop in for other things too, but I am waiting to find out when we will close escrow before I make permanent plans. We finally found a house last week and will close within 30 days which if course puts moving close to the Vegas trip. But we aren't moving far, so it won't be bad. I'll work it out so I can still see you guys, just not sure which days yet.
And I am supposed to have a big weekend next week so I need to get better!! Paul got tickets to the lion king for mothers day. We are going sat night. then sun am I am supposed to hit the road with my middle child (sam) to head to DLR for a 3-day quick trip. The developer points I got from buying DVC *thanks again Cheryl*!! covered enough for me to make 3 seperate trips to the Grand Cali. So I am taking each child seperately for mom and me time. We've never stayed there before so I am excited. Just need to get healthy.
Happy Memorial Day weekend friends!!

LOL--I have done the "lucky" machine thing too--and poured tons of money into it thinking "it's gonna hit on the next spin"--LOL. I generally take a certain amount I'm not afraid to lose--so unless it's a "big" win (over $100) I generally run it back in. However, I usually take part of my gambling money home. I love penny slots! I hope some of my faves are still there--my all time fave was "turkey shoot"--it was so much fun--but it's an "oldie" now so it's probably not around.

Beth....It was wonderful for me as a little girl i would read national geographic and see images of what the ship was like. So to see the exhibit they have those pictures in their original state.. the photos of when they found the items beneath the sea.. and then in many cases they have the actual item there.
I love how you are given a card with the name of a passenger when you enter.. and it tells you of who that person was.. why they were on the ship...and where they were going to...were they traveling alone or with family? It states their status on the ship. {first class, 2nd..ect.}
When you get to see the state rooms.. the furnishings.. differences in sizes...it's so interesting.
And the end of it... well it really brings it home...

Stacie, I forgot to tell you , I was in Avenue yesterday and bought a pair of those Lite Denim jeans you were talking about. I love them! They are so comfy.
I think they run really big though. I bought them in a size 16 and I am so not a size 16!! LOL Most of my jeans are 20 or 22. :rotfl2:
That's why I never really pay attention to sizes. Everything is cut so differently. You can wear a 14 or 16 in one shop and be a 20 someplace else! Doesn't really mean anything.

We have not done a darn thing today. I watched Jon & Kate and tried to read Frankenstein. Kaeleb went swimming with friends & Jordan took a nap.
Now I just mowed the lawn....I now know why people have husbands or gardners. ;)
Now we are getting ready to go get Mexican for dinner.
I want fajitas & a margarita. Then they boys will finish their homework and I will try to read some more.
Then watch the new season of Jon & Kate...

It was a lot of fun. He was in San Antonio for the weekend so we were going to do lunch on Monday but he decided to come back sooner and take me out Sunday night. We went to the sports bar and got a booth, we sat in that booth until they kicked us out at 2 just talking and getting to know each other. It was nice. Well we did leave for an hour or so to ride out to the other bars I go to, but they were dead so we went back. He's from Michigan, moved here for work. Wow is it just me or is Disboards painfully slow lately? I log on then just give up after awhile.
SiLkY is a good name.
Debra...rent the movie ..there was a very good adaption of it several years ago.. then after watching the movie..the reading will be more organic as you have the character references and can visualize everything better.
Well..... this was not a good weekend for our family. My younger sister in law had a very bad stroke. They do not know if she is going to make it, and they have 3 children. We found out yesterday that she has Cadisil Disease..it's rare and seems to hit when the person is in their 30s. Evidently a mutated chromosone lays dormant in the body until they are in their 30s then it awakes with a series of strokes that leave the person devestated.
Here's a link to it.
