I'm going to WDW April 26th to May 3rd, i'm booked at rack rate right now at the Wilderness Lodge. I'm hoping for an AP discount but in the mean time I was thinking of getting AAA membership to get the room only discount. I called Disney yesterday to ask if there was any AAA discounts for my stay and they said that the AAA discounts were not out. My question when do they announce these AAA discounts or was the CM incorrect and just telling me their were none available for my particular dates at the Wilderness Lodge?

Also do you need to have the AAA membership when applying the AAA discount or is it just like the AP discount, just as long as you have the proper ID when checking in?

You need to call back and talk to someone else. AAA rates for 09 came out like 3 months ago. It may not have been available but Id still call back and double check. Technically youll need the AAA number when you book AND when you check in but some CM's dont ask for it

If you are booking a package have AAA do the booking for you and you'll get the discount on the room only portion of the package. I tried to book direct with Disney and they would not or could not give me the discount booking the premium plan.

That's correct. Disney can book a room-only reservation with a AAA discount, but only a AAA travel agent can book a package with the discount on the room.

Thanks I will call back, maybe the CM i spoke with didn't know. And I"m interested in room only, not a package.

Definately call back. In August I got a AAA rate for May at the BWI and GF.

It's between 10 and 20% off for value times, I know that.

Wow that's really good. Is that for all rooms? I want to do a split stay between the allstar music and the poly.

I believe that it's 20% for value resorts and 15% for deluxe. But as noted above, there are a limited number of rooms eligible for the discount. If they're gone, they're gone.

The rate I got by calling disney for AAA discount was like $302 for 3 nights at Pop Century.

I just got a package quote back from AAA thats $1156 for 4 days, three nights at Pop plus park hoppers. It doesn't include airfare. Adding airfare its like $437 a person....guess I can't go in January thats still too expensive. (I'm not a member, my mom is and thats still too expensive for us, oh well).

Right now - AAA shows a rate of $261 for standard room so with tax (12.5%) for 7 nights is $2055.38

Rack rate right now Disney Rack rate shows $290 a night for standard, which translates to $2283.75

Right there you paid for the membership.

I booked my AAA discount room at AKL in September for Apr 23 - May 2. They are out and should be able to get the discount provided there are rooms available.

Update. I called today and yes there is a AAA discount for my trip but I'm not a AAA member yet. The CM wouldn't apply the code to my reservations without the membership number so I'm off to join so I can call back. Oh and the savings would be $228.41 total off rack rate for our 7 night stay.

You could, but the discount might not be available by then. There are only a certain number of AAA rooms.

If you don't have a room reservation, call Disney and ask them to apply it when you book. If you have a room reservation, call Disney and ask them to apply it to the reservation you already have. If it's available, they'll do it.
