I just had to share..
DD found out at noon that she had her XC award dinner tonight...
Well, I fixed a quick pasta salad as required..sent DH since I was taxi-ing DS12 to BB tryouts.. DD was @ school already for BB tryouts.... Well, anyway,
she came home and handed me a whole bunch of paper work...
the certificate was cute...and said she LETTERED IN VARSITY CC!

Yep, as a freshman she earned her varsity LETTER!!! :yay: :cheer2: :yay: :cool1: :cheer2: :dance3:

She will also find out if she made the HS basketball team tomorrow evening so everyone send the pixie dust and prayers our way... than add DS in for Thursday as to whether or not he makes the 7th grade bball team... She made the freshman team with the chance to play JV... now to find out the cost for team shoes & a travel suit Both DS12 and DsS14 made their respective teams! :woohoo: :yay: :cheer2:

He was talked to several times by the coaches and praised... :) So here is hoping...

I do hate tryout days.. they make for a very stressful mommy days!!

COngrats to DD and here's hoping BB goes well. I do hate tryout days. I like it that my kids usually play sports that don't require cuts.

Nancy, sounds like our kids are about the same ages and similar interests. DD17 runs XC and Track. DS13 plays football, track and might take up swiming this year, and DS12 ran XC this year and is thinking about joining swimming and track too. Around here everyone who wants to run or swim does. Not too many divers so we are good there. Everyone makes the football team in MS and as freshman, you just might not play much.

It's amazing what we do for our kids!!!! I've been told I bet you are gonna be glad when they don't need you any more.... I keep telling that someone when she says that.. I hope my kids never don't need me.. I want to be involved in their lives and the lives of their children.... (she just doesn't get it.. :( ) I just won't helicopter parent... I like to be involved but they need to be able to set and test their own limits w/in reason.. KWIM?

Are you kidding!

We are so not a sports family (although living in Boston I have learnt a great deal about baseball and american football in the past few years) DD does gymnastics (not very serious) and we do "challenger" hockey (kids all have disabilities ranging from severe MR to Asperger's like my DS) and challenger baseball. DD is always the token neurotypical and is super sweet and cute with all the kids.

Cute story, she was the "model" student in her class at camp two summer ago for kids with Aspergers, DS was there too is was 3,800$ for DS and $700 for her so we thougth why not. Well in the class of 12, there were only 2 girls. All of these little boys with A.S. had wicked crushes on her and she would get dandelion bouquets everyday. She told me at the end of the camp it was her best summer yet! Here's a pic of her with one of her boyfriends

OH how cute!!! You all are going to have to keep the alarms on at night.. or boys are gonna be throwin' rocks @ her window!!!!

My kids all laugh because during NCAA March Madness they call home from school and I"m yellin' at the tv while I'm answering the phone..

Thanks everyone!!! DsS didn't call so I called him.... He was a bit miffed that I called him out..but if you want us to go.. we need to know... ERK! Kids! While we can read into the crap they are going to pull; it's nice when they call to tell us of their accomplishments because you know everyone will call and tell you about their mis-deeds.. that phone will sometimes ring before their mis-deed is even complete!:thumbsup2

We even got to talk to the coach who worked w/ DS all summer!!!
