At check-in is correct unless there is a medical reason. ie. storing meds etc. If for a medical reason you need one tell them at time of reservation.
They may ask for proof of condition but i have never been asked.

There are a limited number of refrigerator's in each resort.
If you want a refrigerator, you should request it when you
book your reservation, not wait until check-in.

When you make your ressie you should request it then. We always do and it is waiting in the room when we get there. If you wait until check in then you take a bigger chance of them running out of them as they are not guaranteed.

If you put it on your reservation request, make sure that you still request the refrigerator at check-in. Just because it's on the reservation request, doesn't mean that it will happen. We've had this happen a couple of times.

I was undecided about the fridge for our AKL stay (last week!) I tried the ice in bucket to keep DS's OJ cold. The ice melted in a few hours. On second day there, I called housekeeping and requested the fridge. It was delivered to the room about 10 minutes later! They placed it under one of the sinks in the vanity area. It was very convenient and didn't use up room space. There was room for about 12 - 16 sodas plus the gallon size OJ container. If my DS wasn't so insistent on Tropicana Pure premium OJ, I wouldn't have bothered. We had refillable mugs, so didn't really need the soda in room. If he would drink milk or another type of juice in the morning, I could have bought it at Mara when I went down for my free coffee refill every morning. Fridge was $10.10 per day with tax. I would wait to decide until you arrive - you might not really need it.
