I just booked a 7-day cruise for 11/24 last week. Do you mean I will get points returned to me? But, what if I had borrowed from June 2002 use year? I hope they can go back into 2002 because I won't being doing Disney AGAIN before June 1, 2002.

So how many points are you paying for this cruise? Does is have to be a Cat. 10? Is this like the special they ran last year for 101 points??

Does it have to be for the seven day cruise or are there specials for the three or four day?

Thanks

how many points is the category 10 7 day cruise??? We are booked on the 3-day in november. To bad, I just got my plane tickets in the mail. To late for me to change to the seven day now. I kept calling ms and they told me that they were not going to offer the special this year. They said that the only reason they did it last year was because it was the first year of the 7-day cruise.I wish they would give us more notice of the upcoming specials.

What were the points per adult? We are very interested in the cruise and this makes it more appealing.

Can someone please confirm the dates? The ones I received from a friend of mine were a little different. It only applies to the 7-day cruise, and I believe a cat 5 was 145/ppp.

Where can you find out more on these specials? Will it be in the newest edition of Vacation Magic?? We would be interested if this is similar to the sale they had last year!

Ok, sorry but I had to go to work tonight. I really was not trying to ignore anyone.

I really do not know much.

I have already posted the dates that MS gave me this morning. Also I can tell you that I was saving 51 points, which means I was only using 285 points for a Cat. 10 for 3 adults. However I can also tell you that I then upgraded our room to a Cat 5 and used a total of 363 points for 3 adults. So basically I used all 51 points that I saved plus used 27 points more to go from a Cat.10 room to a Cat 5 room.

Really don't know much, sorry.

This special did start this past Thursday.

I booked a cat 5 for 11/10 several weeks ago. After reading this post I called ms and they will
credit 92 points back to me. The cruise was originally 382 points for 2, and now it is 290.
That is a very good savings. Enough points for
another whole vacation! Anita.

Treloarf.

I had to cancel a reservation at Vero back in 1999 due to Hurricane Floyd coming through and closing the resort. As is ALWAYS the case with me -- those points were borrowed.

Given that I would have lost them by the end of the month, MS allowed me to put them BACK into the use-year fromw which I borrowed them.

But here's where they were REALLY cool ... The storm ended up turning, and the resort only closed for a day. I called the next morning and "begged" to have those points back, and went ahead and booked a room for that very night, and the next two. We ended up being 2 of only 40 people in the whole resort that night!

MS was MORE than accomodating. Given these particular circumstances, they might be in this case, also. But, if too many people try, I'm not sure...

Good luck!

I am very excited. Thanks to Dan and Scott, I called member services first thing this a.m. I changed my cruise date, to the 11/10 cruise, rather than the 11/18 4 day I had booked, due to the cruise special. I was able to get a cate 9 for my dh and myself, and 2 cate 10's across the hall for the rest of my family. The kids price went from $359 to $429 (a whopping $70 increase) for the change from the 4 day, what a deal. And big big bonus, we now get the CC credit, on every room, since we moved to the 7 day. I am so excited, now I will be on the 7 day cruise for my actual 40th bday. I can't think of a better thing in this world. Thanks to this board, I was able to jump on this deal.

I also wanted to thank Dan and Scott. I didn't think we'd ever do a cruise, but due to the special, we are in a Cat 10 on the Dec 15 sailing and my son will celebrate his 4th birthday on the Magic. Thanks so much!!

I called MS this morning. The points special is on the 7-day cruise only. I was told it was for the months of Sept., Oct. and part of November(excluding the Labor Day holiday). The 7-day points special is as follows:

Cat. 5 thru 7 Adults: 126 Children: 57
Cat. 8 thru 11 Adults: 101 Children: 57

It appears to be exactly the same as last fall. Quite a savings for sailing during hurricane season. Too bad they aren't running a special on the 3 & 4 night as well. :(

Here are the numbers I was given for the fall special.
Cate 10-11 106 point per adult, 73 for extra adult, 53 child

Cate 9 114 points per adult.

I don't think the points are as low as they were last year. Perhaps the CM was looking at the older info.

When I called member services this morning about our 7 day departing on 12/8. I got 120 points back. The price went from 166 pts per person to 106 for a Category 7. Total Points were 212 compared to 332. This doesn't sound like what others were reporting but this is what Victoria told me. She even restored points to the following year that I was borrowing. This almost sounds to good to be true. So I am now just waiting for the new confirmation letter with the updated points.

Ok, cat 5, 6 and 7 are the same price points wise but what is the difference (if any) in the room or location? I know a navigator's verandah is a teeny tiny one...but that's it.

Thanks a bunch!

I was told by 2 different CMs (Bill and Josie) the 145/106/53 rates as stated above. When I mentioned the rates quoted on this board 101/126/57 she said those were LAST YEARS rates. And YES, I was told if I switched my ressie I would have to pay a 75. fee. I did not change my ressie, just going to "hang on " to the restored 46pts and use them elsewhere.

We are booked on the 7 day cruise for Oct. 20th, category 6, 2 adults, total points used 358. I had to borrow 39 points from 2002. Now it looks like it will only "cost" me 290 points. Will they automatically give me back 68 points? What about the 39 I borrowed? Will they put those 39 back first into my 2002 use year and then 29 into 2001? My use year is September. Thanks!

Renee'

Gee, by looking at what everyone else was quoted I quess my quote was a bargain. :) Apparently my CM - Jerry, was quoting last year's rates - guess that's why it was exactly the same. If I use the rates that others were quoted and compare to my rate last October they have gone up this year. My cat. 5 with 2 adults/2 kids was 366 last year but would run me 396 this year. If you get the CM I had today and he quotes those rates - grab it!

I called MS today to ask the questions I posted two posts above. The woman acted a little confused. I said I was checking to see if any points had been returned to my account due to the Fall Fantasy promotion. First she wanted to know if anyone had called me from MS and was I returning their call. I told her no and she asked me the same question again. I said, "No, I am not returning a call."

She said, "so, are you wanting to see if you can change your Oct. 20th 7-day cruise to the Fall Fantasy promotion?" I said, "yes, you mean you don't do it automatically?" She said "No, we do not, but I can check for availability."

I was on hold FOREVER, she came back and said yes, they had availabilty, did I want to switch. She said I would not have to pay the $75 booking fee as I was not changing cruise dates and that my cabin number would stay the same.

So, the cruise was "costing" me 358 points and now it's only 290 points. They did return the 39 borrowed points back to my 2002 use year.

So, just a "heads up," apparently you don't get this discount automatically.

You are ONLY charged the 75.00 if you change your reservation. If I was to upgrade, thereby changing my cabin it would be considered a "new" reservation, subject to a 75.00fee. If you keep what you have, and reclaim the points no fee is charged. But this is NOT done unless you call. Another GREAT reason to read the Boards!!!

I called this morning to see if we would be receiving the point credit. (I booked the 7 day cruise in January for December 2001- original total points 411). We are also getting back 68 points. I am curious...is this only because I called to request it..or because they will automatically credit back points to anyone who has already booked for those dates?

ReneeQ
02-27-2001, 05:12 PM

According to what I was told this morning by MS, you are being refunded points ONLY because you called. They told me they do not do it automatically, only if you call.

Gee, thats odd. I have a cruise scheduled for November 17 which is the week of Thanksgiving. Because of the holiday, I did not expect Fall Fantasy to be applicable, but because a prior post indicated it was for 7 day cruises through 11/24, I called member services and asked. They gave me the dates of Fall Fantasy which did not include the 11/17 cruise. However, they also told me that in any case they would AUTOMATICALLY apply the new rates to existing cruises. Obviously different answers to the same question by different CMs. Buyer beware....

By the way if anyone cruising the week of Thanksgiving gets a Fall Fantasy rate, please let me know. I will have to call MS again and see if I get a different answer the next time.

When I called MS this morning, he wasn't sure if the points would be put back into the current use year (Oct.2000), or in the borrowed year (Oct.2001). He was going to check w/his manager and call me back, but didn't. I'm expecting to hear from him tomorrow.

For those of you, who have called and received the points back, how did they handle it?

CWD
02-28-2001, 03:48 AM
Note: Member services can make mistakes on this program, question everything. I previously posted that I was getting back 120 points due to the fall fantasy program. When I got home from work on Monday, there was a message from member services on my machine that said I was given wrong information and we would only be getting back 42 points. This lowers our per person rate to 145 for cat 7 which corresponds to other information on this board. Needless to say, I was not very happy although we are still getting 42 points back that we were not really expecting, so I really cannot complain too much

Minnie*Mouse

What is a shipboard credit?

ReneeQ
02-28-2001, 05:40 PM
A shipboard credit is a credit on your room's account. The Disney cruise is cash free, everything is charged to your room and then settled at the end of the cruise (by paying cash or charging to a credit card). So $150 shipboard credit means the first $150 you charge back to your room is free!

We got a voicemail from DVC on saturday saying the cruise we booked months ago went on sale and we got back 40 some points as well as a $150 ship board credit.
Due to the Fall Fantasy rate we were able to upgrade 2 catagories for no additional points or cash. I think I was actually jumping up and down while my husband was making the changes yesterday.
