Can't believe it- after being on a wait list for OKW since the beginning of Jan, our guide got us the # of points and use year we wanted (so we can bank 1/2 our points and use 1/2 magical beginnings) My husband and I are THRILLED!! Our guide said we must of been one of the last to get into OKW. I don't know how he did it - but we even got the old price. We REALLY loved the OKW - everything about it was just what we wanted. Thank you, Randy!! One more NJer comin' (orginally from NY) YIPPIE!

Yes - We got this through Disney! - even though OKW is sold out we put our names on a waiting list in early Jan.

Maybe these points became available through Disney buying back points rather than letting them go through a cheap resale?

They may have been points that didn't close. I don't think Disney buys back many OKW points with their right of first refusal. They open a waiting list every time a resort sells out just for such straggling points.
Did they try to sell you VB? Were you steadfast against VB for use at OKW? Maybe that is what got you on the list..

We were very specific what we wanted - we only wanted OKW and we wanted a use year that would allow us to bank 1/2 points. Our guide - Randy Krueger knew that and didn't push one resort over another. He did tell us though at the time of our tour that we had a good chance of getting in via waiting list at OKW. So we walked away from that thinking we were going to get it. It just took some time. Possibly some last buyers didn't send in the paperwork timely or financing didn't go through.

I am surprised that you got the old price - I was told 100% that DVC was selling at $72.

We have been members since 95 at OKW and absolutely love it. We have added and added on numerous times. Re: Purchasing points......We bought what we thought were the last offerings at OKW, but lo and behold a short time later the Commodore House (the sales area at the time) was torn down and more homes and points became available. Since KW is so large you never know if they will build more homes.

I think the first time we purchased it was about $48.00 per point---each time was more!!! We also had free passes until 12/21/2000!!!!!!That was REALLY GREAT....Now they are gone and w have to pay for passes, UGH!!!!!!! <IMG WIDTH="15" HEIGHT="15" SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif" alt="razz">

My husband and I just signed a contract to become new members at OKW yesterday. We went through a lot of years of looking for places for the perfect vacation and always ended up back at Disney. Both of us were a bit suspicious of the whole timeshare thing, but Disney has made believers out of us. We were able to get into OKW by purchasing a resale through The Timeshare Store. Loved the service we got there and can't wait to vacation at OKW. We've been to many other Disney resorts over the past 12 years, but never OKW.
Just a quick question- what did you mean by getting in at the original price? We thought we were lucky to get in at $67 per point with a bonus of banked points from the year 2000! Anyway, I guess we're neighbors!

To answer some of your ?s re: what we paid - we paid $67 a point at OKW - with all of the 2000 points available through Disney. Just sent all the signed paperwork in last week! I think we made a good decision for us verse going through a resale b/c we a)used MB, b) got all points from 2000 which we banked the remaining 1/2 after MB, c)were able to finance at 10.95% with tax deductible interest and last but not least d)got the exact points we wanted. I was I guess very comfortable dealing with them as well. Our guide just really pulled through just when I thought we didn't have a chance. :)
