WOW we're here!!

Did you guys realize there are 180 people on Shelly's list??? Yes, I went down the list and counted by hand, so it could be off one or two. I'm sure Shelly could've just told me had I asked! Oh well.

Shelly I'm glad your trick or treating happened and hopefully the boys will share!!

I'm off to feed my kids something quasi-healthy before we go to all the parties and eat junk (I'm skipping dinner to save all my calories for the junk!) ;)

Have a good night everybody!! I'll let you know if it SNOWS here tomorrow!

Hi all,

I am so excited. My mom and I are headed to Caribbean Beach Resort(Hopfully Aruba) to celebrate New Year's and the completion of my student teaching.
So far we have reservations for:
12/29 Garden Grill @ 7:40

12/30 Hollywood and Vine @ 3:30 (Fantasmic Dinner Package)

12/31 Boma's @ 7:40 ( not 100% sure on this one)

1/4 Chef Mickeys @ 10:00

Does anyone have any other options for New Years Eve Dinner?
We also really want to eat at Le Celluar(sp?) but it is all booked up. Any suggestions?

Molly

I'm so glad I found you! I was just heading off to bed after getting caught up in digital scrapbooking tutorials and I thought I'd pop on one last time to see how far we got. Saw Mama Snowbirds post about #3 and thought I just better check it out. I know you couldn't live without me!:lmao:

Oh my goodness. Part III!!! Yea! I'm trying to recover from all the dancing I did today. We had a good turnout at tryouts and I'm looking forward to tomorrow. The "real" tryouts with the judges are tomorrow. I'm sure glad I have a "free pass" this year. The dance is pretty hard! Every part of my body is aching right now. Later, I'm going to soak in the tub with some epsom salt.

Shelly- Glad to hear that your boys were able to trick or treat without getting rained on!

I'm hoping that we have good weather on Friday. They're calling for snow:scared1: on Monday! Well, I'll be around. Later!

Holy Cow! Part 3 already! Boy are we chatty! It's been busy around here but I just wanted to check in say hello. I'm getting excited...this week we should be hearing about some codes/discounts!!! I'm nervous about how it all works. I booked a MYW package already and am wondering if I should have just made room only reservations. We're staying at ASMo but I read something about discounts being only for certain rooms or hotels or something. Why does all of this have to be so confusing. Plus we are now thinking that if they give discounts for CBR we may switch up to a mod if there is any availability. We've stayed there twice and liked it. Ugh so many worries!

Hope all my Snowbirds are having a fun weekend! We're off to go trick or treating at a pumpkin patch tomorrow- fun fun fun!

Wow! I got out of town for the day and come back to a new thread!

We went to my in-laws for a Bonfire Party. They live in the country and Belle saw cows for the first time. (My parents live on a farm, too, but they have horses- in case you remember me mentioning their farm.) She has not stopped "Mooing" all night.

I had real smores tonight, Shelly. I hope LeCellier can beat that!

Goodnight Everyone!:wizard:

Hi all,

I am so excited. My mom and I are headed to Caribbean Beach Resort(Hopfully Aruba) to celebrate New Year's and the completion of my student teaching.

We also really want to eat at Le Celluar(sp?) but it is all booked up. Any suggestions?

Wow it's late here but I just wanted to catch up on what I missed this weekend. I've been busy and looks like y'all have been busy chatting...new thread again.

Carrie...allow me to introduce myself...I'm Amanda or mana_liz (as my sister calls me)

I didn't see a new QOTD...hope I didn't miss it.

Shelly: Glad the rain stopped...we went trick-or-treating at Greenfield Village Friday night...and it sprinkled just about the whole time...glad it wasn't really cold though.

Kimberly: Glad your cat came home...hope everything checks out alright at the vet

Well, I'm off to bed finally...I went with some girlfriends and my older sister to see New Kids on the Block tonight...so I have Step by Step running through my head...we had a great time and a great show...laughed alot because of all the old T-shirts and people dressed like the 80's again

Tomorrow it's off to Birch Run and Frankenmuth for chicken and shopping.

Hope everyone has pleasant dreams and good day tomorrow.

Amanda :)

I read that as "chicken shopping" - no and. I was thinking "Wow, really? I didn't know you could buy chickens there. Have the outlets changed that much since July?!" ;)

My hubby as federal jury duty tomorrow. I think he might be one of the very few people i know who doesn't complain about jury duty (he's complaining that it's interrupting his marathon training, but that's it!) and, of course, one of his good buddies is an FBI agent. The chances of him sitting on any trial are pretty slim. That works for me, though - we're a one car household and the jury duty is in Detroit. We're about 45 miles away and he has to be there tomorrow at 7:45. We usually leave the house for work at that time!!

I think he might be the last person in the world to find out what my surgery will be, especially if I end up telling all of you when I get back from the doctor's office! ;)

Today, we're off to a local fiber fair. I wonder if there's any good yarn left!! It's all the handspun stuff which has so much more character than the store stuff. After that, DH needs new running sneakers again. Good thing his Vikings aren't playing this week... we might *gasp* miss part of the game, otherwise!

Good morning Snowbirds! I'm hardly able to move right now from all the dancing I did yesterday. I just have to dance a little bit today and then I have to line up all the girls that are trying out. Shouldn't be too bad, but I'm very, very sore right now. I guess that super hot bath last night didn't do me any good! Oh well. I'm used to it. I hope that everyone has a great Sunday and GO BILLS!

We received conflicting news yesterday. My MIL has now decided to be with us for 2 days of Disney out of our 13 day trip.

Originally our trip was to be with 16 other extended family members. One by one they couldn't come due to this and that, which left only our family going. We then planned out each day and made all our ADRs, some at what others are saying hard to obtain places or times.

Now my MIL is going to be in Florida for one of the weeks we are there visiting her parents, and willing to drive up to stay off site and spend 2 days at Disney with us.

We of course are ecstatic that we can have alone time with just her at Disney. Our problem (yes DH has the same hesitations) is that she doesn't like all parks equally and can we change ADRs to add one more person even though she will be paying OOP and not on the DP? We might have to change around our plans too. This is doable, just a shock that came unexpectedly. We will hold off on changing any of our reservations until we know she is definitely going and what exact dates she will be there for.

I want to stress that we are happy to have her be with us for 2 full days of Disney. Last trip she went most often with DH's sister's family, thus we have her all to ourselves for this trip.

Thanks Remmy

That is crazy! It does get earlier and earlier every year. I did some of my shopping online yesterday and just ordered my Christmas cards today, so I guess it holds true for me - it was my first weekend! Maybe all retailers in the country just watch me and plan accordingly? :rotfl:

 Good luck! It will be a nice treat, but as an OCD planner I can appreciate the pain of changing plans! I don't think it's a problem to add someone who's paying OOP...

Hello Snowbirds,

Happy Sunday.

Distherapy, thank you for your kind thoughts. I wanted to tell you I read the trip report you posted and just had to laugh along with you with some of your adventures. I sometimes need to know how to relax on vacation, especially at Disney. It will be hard with all my new found knowledge thanks to all Snowbirds and this DIS board.

I too am basically done all my Christmas shopping. I try to shop throughout the year so it doesn't hurt the pocket book so much at the end of the year. I am trying to convince the children that the Christmas tree will look a bit bare this year. With DH's job loss and our up coming trip. I keep trying to convince them there will be lots at Disney they will want and if we overspend at Christmas we will have nothing for Disney. Easy for DD who remembers some of her last visit at age 6, but hard for DS who was only 18 months at the time. Anyway, we will be surprising them with the lunch at CRT and Pirate Cruise and Alice tea party. We will include pictures with the small write up so they can understand what the gift is. I am thinking of doing it up as invitations.

It is cold in our area today and I think I saw a few stray snowflakes come down. I hope it can hold off until after Hallowe'en.

Just checking in with my Peeps! It's been a pretty lazy day here. My son is with friends at a birthday party, seeing the new Star Wars cartoon movie. We took my friend's daugther in exchange, since she didn't want to go along with her brother and all those boys. So, we've got lots of giggling going on in this house. Scot just came into my office and said, "Little girls are annoying!" :lmao:

I'm doing some scrapbooking and housecleaning. That's about it.

So, hopefully you all are having a terrific day! :rotfl: I noticed my ticker is getting really close to the 2 month mark!!!!

Well at least you are getting a heads up now when there is at least some time to figure things out. This way you can actually have time to look through the schedule and see what's flexible, instead of it being the last minute and then you'd just look like a crazy woman trying to change everything:rotfl:

Really? Who knew...:rolleyes1 . Luckily christmas shopping in my family isn't some big production. We started to do "Secret Santa" just in our immediate family a few years ago. So we put a limit and say about $50 for your person and that's it. We like this too because the past few years we've gone to Disney so close to Christmas. So we like to spend less on Christmas and more at Disney!!!:woohoo:

Molly

:welcome: and congrats! Are you teaching in the msp area? I'm in Oakdale. Just curious!

I, for one, love snow...in December!!! I was born and raised in MN, so I like winter (and I don't ski or snowmobile either) and need the change of seasons. But Winter is one season that just lasts TOO LONG! I only want snow from December 1 - about February. Then I'm sick of it. That is why we head to WDW at the end of January. I am so jealous of you going to an NKOTB concert! My sister and I were supposed to have gone to see them in Minneapolis on the 21st but plans changed and we ended up having to sell our tickets! I was such a fan of theirs in the late 80's and early 90's! :woohoo:

Yeah for PART III! :cool1:

NKOTB....oh I remember them..the start of my boy band obsession that would move on in the later years to The Backstreet Boys!!

NKOTB....oh I remember them..the start of my boy band obsession that would move on in the later years to The Backstreet Boys!!

My DH works at the arena in St. Paul where NKOTB played last week. We joked that it was going to be a crowd of mostly 30 something women. Turns out we were right!! But lucky for DH, they were willing to spend $ on shirts etc. That's how he makes his $ - commissions on sales of merchandise. So to those of you that went, THANK YOU! You just helped us pay for more Disney!

Saw High School Musical 3 today! I know most of you aren't into it, so sorry for OT, but I had a great time! My DD is WAY into HSM, so I've seen the movies and hear the music a LOT.

This made me remember why I love Disney so much. I can trust them! I didn't have a single moment of explanation or feeling uncomfortable with the movie. There was nothing inappropriate or over my DDs head. It was all good! It shows how everyone should be included, how no one is wrong for what they like or do. Nothing too adult - the kids sort of "date" but nothing more than dancing! It's just awesome.

And I'll admit - I got VERY teary at the end. I think I had strong "mom" feelings towards those kids, and to see them grow up and graduate from high school - AWW, it was so sweet.

Wow, page 5 already! My goodness. Well, tryouts went great and we now have a new team. 10 returning veterans and 5 new rookies! It was a long, tiring day and once again, I can hardly move! I will definately be taking a nice, long soak again tonight! I'm sad that my Bills lost, but at least I didn't have to watch it happen.

Hello snowbird peeps,

It's been a little while since i've been on here, and I must say I was not even a little surprised to see part III!!

My "baby" sister leaves to go back to Seattle tomorrow after an extended visit. I am really bummed but know I will see her at Disney. It's never easy living 3,000 miles away from your nearest family member!

Tonight after she packs, we are going to sit down with some mix drinks and try to do the rest of our itinerary. Should be fun and a great way to end our visit! :thumbsup2

Hello all!

I never saw there was a snowbird thread until this one! WOOHOO! First year retired - my dates are January 5 - February 1. Staying off property until January 19th, and then the rest at OKW. I AM SO excited!

No PS yet - need to spend as little money as possible, so my plan is to eat "in" as much as possible, interspersed with counter service meals and not more than one sit down a week.

Now my MIL is going to be in Florida for one of the weeks we are there visiting her parents, and willing to drive up to stay off site and spend 2 days at Disney with us.

Thanks Remmy

Remmy, I wouldn't change any of your ps. If she's going to be in Florida for a week, she may not decide until she actually arrives and sees what the parents plans are, what days she can come to Disney. So, if it was me, I would 'hang loose' and roll with it when she shows up. At that point, you can either bag the ps, try to change it for more people, or just show up with the extra and ask nicely if it's possible they can accommodate you (Unless it's CRT, the likelihood is probably pretty good.)

Dancegrrl, since the hot bath didn't work for you, may I suggest a trick I learned from the marathoners? The girls take cool to tepid soaks when they first come off the course to get the lactic acid out of their muscles. Later in the evening they might hit the hot tub or a hot bath, but the cool one definitely comes first. Good luck!

It's cool and windy here today. We carved pumpkins and then came in and I made chicken & dumplings soup! Nothing like good soup to warm you on a chilly day. I saw the forecase with the potential for flurries on Monday and a 30% chance of rain for Halloween....as I know Shelly can attest to, trick-or-treating in the rain isn't much fun. I'd almost prefer snow than the cold rain this time of year.

We went yesterday...Me, DD 9, best friend and her 2 DD's (10, 7)...I thought that it was a little racy. I thought that there was no reason to have the boys with their shirts off or open. I know that they are trying to reach multiple age groups but to me the kiss was a little too lippy and don't even get me started with the overt s*xual undertone! Oh goodness! I think I just turned into my mother:rotfl2: Now I personally did like the movie. It's just that I felt it a little too much for the under 12 crowd.

Does anyone have any other options for New Years Eve Dinner? Molly

Hey Molly, hopefully you're already booked something because if you don't have an ADR by now (at least for restaurants in the parks), you're going to be VERY lucky to find one. The only exception I can think of is the Fantasia Buffet in Epcot that was announced last week. Also, keep in mind that if you're planning on being in a park for the day - get there early, and, if you do leave for dinner at a resort then there's no guaranteee you'll be able to get back in, esp. MK. At least this is what all my research has told me. We're also going to be there for NYE, plan is to get to Epcot EARLY, and ride what we can and get FP early in the day before they run out. Then stay for the whole time, and just relax and take our time soaking up the atmosphere. Luckily we do already have ADRs in place :thumbsup2 .

IT'S SNOWING IN ST. PAUL, MN!!!
 :scared1:

Is it normal for it to be snowing this time of year over there:cold: ??? We're driving from WDW to Beech Mtn NC to spend Christmas with family, but if it's snowing already in some places, how much will be around by Christmas:santa: ??? I'm starting to worry that we'll drive for 9 hours and then find the road is closed :scared1: - one hour away from our destination!

Just wondering--Are any of you DIS Podcast fans?

Yep! That would be me, at least when i remember to sync my Ipod. Gotta love Kevins restaurant reviews - they crack me up! :rotfl: Just gotta remember not to take then too seriously, but it's nice to be warned in advance ;) . We're still doing CRT & want to check out TRex, but have realistic expectations - we're there for the experience and atmosphere more than the food, (and we may take earplugs to TRex).

It's cool and windy here today. We carved pumpkins...

Lucky you being able to do this so long before Halloween. We're having our Halloween Party Friday but can't carve anything until at least Thursday night because they'll go all soft and wrinkly in the heat here :sunny: . The 'traditional' orange pumpkin you guys use are really hard to find over here and are EXPENSIVE - $13+, and our 'normal' (i.e. bluey green coloured) pumpkins are really hard to hollow out so we tend to carve watermelons instead. You need to leave a bit of the red flesh inside when you hollow it out so the eyes/mouth etc. glow red when you put a candle inside, and we use all the flesh to make watermelon punch - plain for the kids, and v.nice mixed with melon liqueur and vodka for the adults.

I'm desperately hoping some codes and/or package discounts come out today, but I won't find out until tomorrow 'cause it's already Monday here. Hopefully they'll be from the 1 Jan, but I have a feeling they'll be form 4 Jan onwards, which means yet another checkout and in during the vacation - Let's hope it's worth it!

Sarbah--what is Twilight?

Sorry Sarbah - I'm answering for you!

Twilight is a book, the first in a series about, ahem, a vampire teen romance. :rotfl: My sister was addicted to them and made me read them (I told her I refused to buy them and she had them shipped to me. After that I felt it was my sisterly duty to read them and I was hooked too... They aren't great literature, but she's a good storyteller and they are fun reads... (and hugely popular - my babysitter went to the library to ask for the first one and the librarian told her she would be #184 on the waiting list.)

I'm trying to decide if I want to try and start another "series" book. I've finished Harry Potter, trying to get through Chronicles of Narnia. I'm on book 5 or 6 I think. My friend gave me a series of books from an author from South Carolina. I wouldn't have a problem getting through them, I love reading and if I'm really into the book I won't do anything else but read. I just don't know if I should be starting something else right now.

Use a CD Case! You print out a 'card' for each month, sized to fit inside the CD Case (the Std sized ones, not the skinny ones). I found this link to tell you how to do it ...

I've done heaps of others, but if all you want is a photo and a quote, this is the easiest way I know of doing it. Have fun creating!

Yeah, that's it in short. It's a vampire teen romance written by a Mormon author. This is ONLY really important because, despite it being a *teen* romance, there's not much more than the occasional smooch until book 4 which was kind of terrible. :)

Okay - first - best of luck with the dr appts! Here's hoping for the minor-est of recoveries!!!

Second - I am SO jealous of your Twilight viewing plans! I love me some Twilight (my sister got me hooked on that vampire teen romance crack) and I love me some margaritas! :worship:

I got three of my coworkers and my closest female friend into the series. They're all forcing me to see the movie, which does look pretty AWFUL. In sort of a good way and aided by margaritas! And they all want to go on opening night!

I'm trying to decide if I want to try and start another "series" book. I've finished Harry Potter, trying to get through Chronicles of Narnia. I'm on book 5 or 6 I think. Girls/women either love it or hate it - Twilight, that is. If you haven't read but want a top notch YA series, I really recommend the Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper. After that, I recommend the Young Wizards series by Diane Duane. The first series I'd list as nearly classic YA fantasy and the second may eventually get there!

++

Anyway, I'm kind of annoyed with my DH right now. He didn't actually READ the paperwork for his jury duty and given that he's 35, I didn't think I had to. He has to go in tomorrow. And whether or not he serves on a trial, he has to call to see if he has to serve NEXT week as well.

In the meantime, I have that appointment with my surgeon I have to go to alone... and if he has to go in next week, I have to go to my pre-op alone. We're also a one car household and the pre-op isn't on a bus route. My coworkers offered to drive me, but I have to be there at 7:30am and that doesn't seem like a nice thing to ask of them, you know? So I have to get a cab/rent a car/hope he doesn't go in... and then make sure I get all the pre-op instructions right, since he'll be caring for me.

It's NOT the end of the world, but he did have the option to put it off until a date of his choosing, but he decided not to. I feel frustrated and very inconvenienced by his decisions, on top of feeling entirely miserable most of the time. :(

(edited to add: I also had all these appointments prior to his jury summonings!)

Goodness... and I thought we were SLOW on the weekends....

If you're planning on adding her to the reservation at your hotel, and you're on the Dining Plan, then she has to be on the Dining Plan as well, which means technically you cannot add her to your ADRs as paying OOP. If she's staying somewhere else, or none of you are on the DP, then it's not as big of a deal.

NKOTB....oh I remember them..the start of my boy band obsession that would move on in the later years to The Backstreet Boys!!

Haha... I kind of wanted to go to a NKOTB or Backstreet Boys concert this year (or did the BSB tour last year?) but I just cannot afford it. Besides, it would only be fun if I went with my sister, since she went through the whole boy band obsession with me, and she lives too far away.

My little sis is only 4 hours away and I'm always missing her! I don't know if I could ever be 3,000 miles away from her! That must be so hard.

My sister lives about 1,000 miles away... it kind of sucks. My baby sister only lives about 100 miles away, but she's 6 years younger than I am, and we've never been as close. We have been bonding lately over the whole Disney thing though...
My big sister is coming in for my Bridal Shower in a couple weeks though!:cool1:

Having family far away is so hard. I moved to the east coast for seminary, which was about 5 years ago. It took me six months to get out of my hermit stage. While I do love the east, I miss my family in the northwest. I'm hoping some day they will all decide they love Pennsylvania and move out here!

Sisters are the best. We became so much closer once we hit adulthood. I really don't know what I would do without them. We are all looking forward to the nine days of Disney. It has been several years since we were last all together. One lives in Alaska, the other in Seattle, and i'm out here in Pennsylvania. It is VERY hard to get us all in one state!

You poor BABY! That's ROTTEN! The old lady (me) thinks she would be jerking his chain right about now. If it's anything more serious than having a mole removed, he WOULD be going with me if I wanted him there, and if you're feeling miserable, I suspect it is more serious than that. OK, I need some Snowbird help!!

I just took a look at my d's college fund. Needless to say, it's LOWWWW. Talk about scary! :scared1: :faint:

This trip is for D and me; we haven't been a vacation for several years. I had planned it for last year, but cancelled it for work reasons (hers). Now with what's going on, I'm getting really close to cancelling.

Somebody, please tell me why I shouldn't!! :worried:

Thanks! :worship:

Dancegrrl, since the hot bath didn't work for you, may I suggest a trick I learned from the marathoners? The girls take cool to tepid soaks when they first come off the course to get the lactic acid out of their muscles. Later in the evening they might hit the hot tub or a hot bath, but the cool one definitely comes first. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. You'd think that being a dancer my entire life I should know something about being sore!

My sisters and I are all 7 yrs apart. Yes, you read that correctly. 7 years! My big sis (who just got married!) is 33 and my little sis is 19 and a soph in college. She's away at school and I always miss her. I get to see her next Sunday because she'll be playing field hockey only an hour away from here. So exciting!

A few years ago my brother, sister, and I decided that we would only live one state apart, and anyone who broke that bond forfeit the right to complain when they never got visited. Basically, our thinking was it wasn't too much fun for us to get in the car and drive for a million hours to visit family members like our parents always made us do, and our relatives are always complaining because we don't come to visit them (even though they rarely come visit us).
Unfortunately, it didn't really stick. Our parents (and most of the rest of the family, live in Kansas) and my sister and brother live in Georgia and Utah respectively, so much for the one state away rule. My sister is the only one with a kid at this point, and I can't really complain, because I know I'll be moving somewhere far away as soon as Logan commissions. I just hope we don't end up too far away from each other, because I love spending time with my family.:grouphug:

I love spending time with my family too. Growing up, my sisters and I fought like crazy! Who knew we'd grow up to be the best of friends. My immediate family lives in Buffalo which is so nice. My extended family mostly lives in Syracuse which isn't too far. My DH's family moved to Florida a few years ago and I know that kinda stinks for him. His mom came to visit this past May and it was the first time we've seen her in over 2 years! His dad (his parents are divorced) lived in Florida for a few years and he just recently moved back up here. I feel bad because my DH hasn't seen his brothers and sister in years. I just couldn't do it! I don't even like the fact that my sister and her husband bought a house that's 20 minutes away! I just love being close to everyone.

Wow!... I'm only a year and a half younger than my older sister (she's 23 and I'll be 22 next week) then my brother is only a year and a half younger than me (he's 20, and will be 21 in March) then my mother got a little more sane. My next brother is almost a full 2 years younger (she still had 4 kids in 5 years... and took us all to Disney by herself when we lived in Florida) then the next is 3 years younger, and the baby is 4 years younger.
I have been getting to know the youngest kids a little better recently...but I was an obnoxious selfish teenager, so I didn't spend as much time with them as I should have.

I wouldn't be able to go for very long without seeing my family. When I was studying abroad in Prague I got so homesick, and if somebody in my family had come to visit it wouldn't have been as bad. Both of my parents said they would come, but they both came up with reasons not to. The worst was when I called on Thanksgiving and the whole family was together at Mammaw's in Georgia. I could hear them all playing and chatting in the background. I think Thanksgiving is probably my favorite family holiday, because we all get together and eat and have fun. It's just less stressful than Christmas. This year I don't think the whole family is getting together for Thanksgiving though, because everyone is planning on coming out for my wedding. My brother will be there, but my sister has to spend the time with her in-laws, especially since they're spending Christmas and New Year's with us.

Ok, first how old is your daughter?

I know a lot of parents stress about this, mine certainly did. However I had to take out a loan. It really isn't that bad. It wasn't a huge loan, and my monthly payments are $50. I can have this paid off in 4 years. I'm paying off a little extra each time so it should be less than 4 years.

Have you been saving your change? I do that for anything. I have a container on my dresser and only silver coins go in, then before a trip I cash that in. I have over $87 and the trip isn't til Jan. Saving the coins might not make much of a huge difference in this time span, but over a few years it certainly will. So you could also encourage your children to do this too.

How long are you planning on going for? Is there anyway you could make it be just for a long weekend (if it's planned for longer)? Try little ways to cut back while on vacation. We only eat at "big" meals 2 or 3 times during our trip. The rest are counter service. We also bring in fruit snacks and granola bars with us so we don't eat snackie stuff during the day. Also my sister and I usually end up splitting some meals, like some of the garden salads, that are huge.

There certainly are ways to do Disney on a budget. But only you know if you should go or not.

I got a little teary at the end, too. HSM is what gave those kids their career. (With the excepetion of Ashley Tisdale since she was on Suite Life.) Speaking of her, my only real complaint is that there was not enough Sharpay. It seemed to completely revolve around Troy and Gabriella.

I haven't seen it yet but I have to totally agree here...I love SHARPAY. She is my favorite character on the show, she is so BAM!!

From your mouth to the ears of the folks at Disney!! I got so paranoid after reading some of the code posts that I called the lovely CM people at 7am their time and asked to make sure I was on the list to receive emails from them and to see if there was a code attached to my name....nothing yet but I'm crossing my fingers!!!

I ask how old she is as well...
I agree... taking out a few loans for college is not a horrible thing, just make sure she understands the loans before she takes them out. I am completely amazed at what some of the kids around me take out loans for. If she's young then you will have time to build up some more money... if college is right around the corner, then she should also be saving. I didn't save money for college and I really wish I had, but I'm still ending up with less loans than a lot of the people I know.
However, it really is up to you to decide whether or not you can justify the trip. If the only way she can go to college is by skipping the trip, then skip it. However, the time you spend together might be a lot more valuable to you after she's gone. I'm not saying book a suite in the Grand Floridian, but you can research ways to take the trip without breaking the bank...

I'm trying to decide if I want to try and start another "series" book. I've finished Harry Potter, trying to get through Chronicles of Narnia. I'm on book 5 or 6 I think.

I miss Harry Potter:sad2: Hopefully the new movie, when it comes to theaters, will help to fill the void.

Okay snowbirds,

We're in the middle of planning and I can't seem to find the link to that cool gagdet that calculates distance/time between parks. Anyone have it?

Thanks for the welcome back! Things are still stressful at work but i'm alive and finding ways to cope. My sister and I even went to see Hairspray the other night which was awesome! I just have to continue to take deep breaths and am working on finding solutions to the problems. It's been my harsh welcome to the workforce I guess!

A big thank you to all Snowbirds that helped me with my MIL situation. I am certain that all will work out. I loved the different answers, as it gives me options I didn't think about.

Shelly,

Is it at the CBR they have the kids meals in a pail and shovel? I thought I saw that somewhere but couldn't remember where. I think that is a unique idea.

Thanks Remmy

PS Congratulations to all for completing Thread II.

I have noticed my Stitch has started to finally move. I can't wait to see him on my trip ticker in the middle. I wish they would do a little dance for every quarter of the ticker. I have noticed all of our tickers are moving along, and I am a wee bit jealous of those of you closer to your times then us.

I think I am becoming anxious because it is really cold here. Luckily no snow, as of yet, just cold rain. It is dark and dreary. I am looking forward to wearing less clothing, in terms of no socks, sweaters or big bulky winter coats, and wearing shorts and t-shirts again.

I printed off the 2009 DP from the Disney site to see if there were any new changes. My DS came in and became all excited to see Goofy on the front page. I can't wait to see his and DD's expressions. I almost cried today to see how excited he was and that was only the Disney Dining sheets. I know that whatever we go through to obtain this trip and whatever we may have to go through after, it will be worth it to have quality family time together.

I have a question, and I figured I'd ask here before I search for someplace else.

We will be at SSR. On our return home day, we don't leave until 6:35(ish) pm. So we will be at a park that day. When we check out of our room, will SSR hold our carry-on stuff for us?

We've never stayed at anything about a Value, so we have NO IDEA what we are doing. Plus we will be so out of place...we'll be the losers walking around taking pictures of EVERYTHING!:rotfl: Feel free to stop over and say "Hi!"

I sat down and tried to figure out our countdown to our Disney trip.
Here it is:

86 days until we leave for Disney
50 school days until we leave for Disney
12 1/2 weeks until we leave for Disney
3 vacation days to use up before we leave for Disney
22 hour drive to go to Disney (if weather and boarder guards are good)

Now for the disclaimer:

This countdown can change due to DH working the midnight shift and forgets which day he put down and if it will count to having the Wednesday night off or not. He is still on probation on his new job here, so he will ask next month when the exact date and time is he has off. If he now thinks it means he has asked for that night off and the weather is good we may leave one day earlier. I hate driving in the snow and don't want to take any risks on us missing Disney.

I can't believe how close our Disney trip is coming up. Woo hoo.:cheer2: :cheer2:

Just wanted to say "HI". We had a very productive day of shopping at Birch Run and Bronners. I got a very cute Eeyore Christmas figurine for my collection. Also got quite a few Christmas presents bought...can't wait to start wrapping...my older sister's says I can't start till Nov. 1...so next Saturday out comes the wrapping paper, bows and ribbons.

It didn't snow here...but we actually had hail a few times today.

Sorry to those who missed out on NKOTB concerts...hopefully they tour again and you can see them then...We paid $70 for our tickets and I think it was worth it...great concert...we even made every listen to the new CD and Greatest Hits in the car...my aunt didn't appreciate that...no taste in music I guess. :)

Hoping for a code this week sometime...maybe free dining.

Oh I see that some were congratulating there football teams for wins today...our great football the Lions (or as some call them the Losins) lost

Anyway, I love Christmas music - the classical stuff, mostly. I've started listening to it a little in the past week. It's generally just so cheerful and I can use that level of cheer! :)

DH just left for jury duty in Detroit, saying "Gosh, if I have to go back next week, maybe I won't be able to go on our vacation." ... and then tried to pin the blame on me, AGAIN, for not reading the paperwork. I am the Band and Colorguard Booster President so I was there from before sunrise to after sunset on Saturday and then we started at 5:45 am on Sunday again.... we were done and home by 4pm though on Sunday..... it was a long exhausting 2 days.... the kids had a great time though and thats what matters...

Yes, I agree. I also noticed that Gabriella's top were much lower than the previous movies. And how about riding a bike in a mini skirt? I actually started talking to my best friend during the kiss.... it made me uncomfortable watching 'teens' kiss like that.

Hello snowbird peeps,

It's been a little while since i've been on here, and I must say I was not even a little surprised to see part III!!

Hey Laura!! I was out yesterday afternoon--I have been wondering how things were going with you and your congregation!! Hopefully things are better and you are just busy!! Stay in touch--we missed you!!

Wow!! I have never even heard of that.

Thanks to whoever posted about the movie and the under 12 crowd( I read so much I forgot!) I don't think we'll be going to see it. Maybe rent it someday and I can edit!! HA!!

Shelly,

Is it at the CBR they have the kids meals in a pail and shovel? I thought I saw that somewhere but couldn't remember where. I think that is a unique idea.

Thanks Remmy

Yep, it's at CBR! :thumbsup2

I have a question, and I figured I'd ask here before I search for someplace else.

We will be at SSR. On our return home day, we don't leave until 6:35(ish) pm. So we will be at a park that day. When we check out of our room, will SSR hold our carry-on stuff for us?

Yes, any WDW resort will hold your luggage for you. Just make sure to leave enough time to retrieve it before you need to leave. Sometimes there is a line and it takes awhile to get it.

Okay snowbirds,

We're in the middle of planning and I can't seem to find the link to that cool gagdet that calculates distance/time between parks. Anyone have it?

Not sure if this is what you are looking for or not. . . . .

First, to answer your question, my daughter is a sophomore in college, so we don't really have a lot of time to make up the lost money. We'll figure it out. And thanks for all the helpful hints!

I have been going back and forth between my email, the Disney Visa site and mousesavers to see if codes were coming out.... nothing yet....

I got a Mousesavers Hot Deal in my email this AM, and I was so excited! :yay: Until I saw that it didn't contain a code. :sad1: Oh well, back to the wait. :surfweb:

One of our radio stations was playing Christmas music today! What's up with that??? I immediately changed the station. It's just too early!!! In fact, I'd prefer to not even hear Christmas music until I wake up in the middle of the night to go shopping the day after Thanksgiving. :santa:

Mana Liz-I'm totally jealous of you being at Birch Run and Bronner's today. I want to go back!!!

Oh...yeah that would be way too much Christmas Overload for me. Most of our start around Thanksgiving and then I'm okay with that because I love Christmas music. My favorite fun song is I want a Hippo for Christmas...I have the entire thing memorized..which speaks volumes for my character LOL!

Oh the day after Thanksgiving shopping...I so can't wait!!! It's going to be fantastic....what's the one thing you are hoping to find on sale this year??? I really want to get a GPS.

I hope so.... but I must admit I am a spoiled brat and I want a waterview, close to the pool and dining, and on the first floor..... I don't want to overlook parking, I prefer not to be on an upper floor (although that Contemporary snake thing has me nervous), I like a corner room.... did I mention I was a spoiled brat..... :rotfl:

Wendy, this is the view I'm preparing myself for! :rotfl2: That way, anything I get that's better will just be incredible!

Good morning Snowbirds!

Had to work all weekend. I am exhausted and that made 17 days straight of work with still another 6 in front of me :( I need a nap. I do not know how many days I have left today...I will look when I post this! Hope you guys get your codes. Since I am staying DVC I won't be able to use any, but I hope they are good for you guys!

So what is everyone doing their first night in WDW. Our flight lands at 10:30 pm.

Well since I changed my times AGAIN ( I know its crazy my indecisiveness) I will be arriving around noonish on the 15th. I plan on seeing if my room is ready, if not I'm just going to drive myself over to EPCOT and enjoy an afternoon there. I really would like to just snack my way through WS for lunch and dinner!!! Then I'll go check in at my hotel and get a good night's sleep for my first full day at Magic Kingdom.

NKOTB....oh I remember them..the start of my boy band obsession that would move on in the later years to The Backstreet Boys!!

Okay....add me to the "I'm so jealous" listing! I'd love to see NKOTB. I saw them when I was in high school (gosh...I remember standing in that line waiting to get a wristband for a ticket!:lmao: ) They're not coming close to me....

Oh, I was a Blockhead in the day. Still am. I'm glad I don't have to keep it secret anymore. :lmao: I saw them in concert in 1990 when I was nearly 15. I'm not sure I actually heard anything since I was screaming the entire time!:confused3 :rotfl2:

A woman on my scrapbooking board just won a superfan radio contest. She got to interview one of them for the radio show, hang out with them backstage, and be one of the people dancing with them near the stage during the show. It was pretty cool!

Sadly, their US tour ends just before I arrive stateside! WAAAAH! I so would have seen them in concert given the chance!:rolleyes1

I hope they come out tomorrow as well... that will give me some serious time to mull over them before my package balance would be due.

Oh, Thanksgiving is a rough one. I guess because Christmas is about so many things. We spend a lot of time in church for Christmas, and the family visits spread out over the course of 2 or 3 days. But Thanksgiving is all about being with family. We've spent 4 Thanksgivings here, and unfortunately, we'll not be home for Thanksgiving again for another 5 years or more. :sad1: Last year everyone celebrated at my grandparents farm and they passed the phone around for me to chat with everyone. I could hear everyone laughing in the background. It broke my heart. I made it through the conversation, but bawled when I hung up. It's really hard being so far away sometimes.

I've got a 2 1/2 year old nephew I haven't met yet! I can't wait to meet him!!! And they haven't met Georgia Kate...she just turned 3! It will be really good to go home.

Last year DH and I realized we couldn't do it all with just the two of us...we had to recruit MIL to help!

We hope to not need her this year, it just made everything a bit more complicated. :headache:

Me and my two girlfriends are going to go out this year. One of them is expecting so I'm sure she'll have some baby items in mind!! We are meeting way early and we are going to hit the stores.

ALWAYS on the list are Wal-mart, Target, Michaels, Joann's, and the Mall stores...I will NEVER do Best Buy ever again...unless they have the most amazing GPS that store nearly kills me every year LOL!!

I was feeling the same way when we were going to arrive late on the 20th. Then AirTran messed with my flights so we switched to SW and are now arriving around 1:00 on the 21st. I feel better about getting my room request this way because I didn't book a preferred room. But if you booked a preferred room you should be okay. :goodvibes

Well I'm sort of in the same boat. I was planning on arriving at 11:30pm on the 15th, but the idea of driving 6 hours in the dark by myself is neither appealing to me or my hubby. So I just decided to take the day off leave early in the morning and get there so I can spend a good half day or more at a park of my choice, while driving when the sun is shining. I'm also hoping that since I didn't get a perferred room but have asked that since I'm a female travelling alone to be as close to the main building as possible that my request will more likely be agreed to if I arrive earlier in the day.

Our Best Buys are nearly impossible unless you want to get in line at about 6 pm on Thanksgiving! :scared1: Nope! Our Wal-Mart is open 24 hours, so at least you can wait for the sales to start inside the store, which is what DH did while I was standing OUTSIDE at Staples, freezing my tookus off, to get his GPS! This year I'm doing Wal-Mart and he can be outside! :thumbsup2

I know this has already been said... but they'll hold them for you...

First, to answer your question, my daughter is a sophomore in college, so we don't really have a lot of time to make up the lost money. We'll figure it out. And thanks for all the helpful hints!

I got a Mousesavers Hot Deal in my email this AM, and I was so excited! :yay: Until I saw that it didn't contain a code. :sad1: Oh well, back to the wait. :surfweb:

You could postpone the trip and do a huge trip when she graduates. It would give you a couple years to save.

Where'd everybody go? For a while I couldn't keep up and now... nada.

That's what always happens to me... it seems like nobody is on at the same times as me...

So what is everyone doing their first night in WDW. Our flight lands at 10:30 pm.

Our flight gets in a little before 3, so I'm expecting to be at AKL at around 5... I wanted to get in earlier, but I couldn't find anything earlier, unless we wanted to get up significantly earlier. I went for the latest departure with the earliest arrival.
Then... I have Jikos booked that evening, but I'm really torn, because its the last night of the Osbourne lights... plus it's MK EMH. My soon-to-be DH didn't want me to plan anything for that night though, so I think I'll just leave Jikos when it is, unless a code comes out and we can't apply it to AKL... then we'll probably switch to somewhere else, and I would have to find a different place to eat that night...

I really want to snack my way through EPCOT, but I also want to try all the restaurants... so trying new restaurants won out... but we don't have lunch planned for one of our EPCOT days and dinner for the other, so I think I'll get to do plenty of snacking...

That's about how I felt last year... I was already REALLY homesick, and even though we got to go to two different Thanksgiving dinners with Americans from church... it still just wasn't the same... Then... I was back for Christmas, but it was kind of anticlimactic, because I didn't get the Thanksgiving to Christmas anticipation.

I am so on edge waiting for a January code! In the meantime, some advice please, snowbirds. We will fly in arriving either at around 9:30 am or 11:30am. We're staying at AKL. That night will be the only night Fantasmic is offered. I am still trying to decide if we should go with DD9 and DS5 (almost 6). I keep hearing mixed things. We'll have 4 nights, one of which will be date night at Cali Grill and one will be wishes cruise. Don't know if I should try to squeeze in Fantasmic, and stay for EMH at HS (heard the dance party is fun) or try to keep it to an early night so we can wake up early next day. DH is warning me about keeping the kids up too late- we don't want cranky, whiny kids at Disney!! I'd really like to see Illuminations one night too. So much to fit in!

Jen - on your countdown you listed "blow up pumpkins" Does that mean "inflate" or actually explode? :)

On our arrival to WDW - DD7 and I will arrive by plane at about 5:15. DH is hopefully going to have checked in already and unloaded the van! Then he'll pick us up (we can't get ME b/c we're at SOG). and we'll probably go eat at DTD and wander around and shop. We may not get there otherwise since we only have 3 full days to do the parks (:sad1: ). If it's warm we may hop in the pool a bit.
We will probably go full throttle all day at the parks because of our limited time. Then we're cruising, so we can put our feet up a bit then!

That's a tough one. I'm sure at your kids ages they would love Fantasmic.

We always watch Wishes on our trip. And then we either watch Fantasmic or IllumiNations. Not both. That's too many late nights and grumpy mornings for my kids. So I see your dilemma. What time will Fantasmic be showing on your arrival night? If it's at 7:00 like it is when I am there then that wouldn't be too bad. You could be back to your resort by 8 or 8:30.

Fantasmic is in our MUST DO list everytime... we love the show.... so I would say if you can fit it in then go ahead....

We have seen Fantasmic with our children when they were 3 and 5. They did okay. Our younger one doesn't like fireworks etc., so this year we're bringing earplugs for her. It worked on the 4th of July! They will be almost 6 and almost 8 when we go, so they're okay with the villains. We are definitely doing it and it's only showing one night while we're there. Hope it doesn't rain! We got a dinner package, so we'll sit off to the side and probably near the back so DD5 won't be too frightened. She's pretty tough, and if she's scared she just covers her ears and buries her head on me or DH.
Good luck! It's a fabulous show - as are all the evening shows at WDW!! We're hoping for good weather because we have three nights and we want to see 3 shows!!

Thanks for the replies. Fantasmic is at 7pm. Maybe we should just skip Illuminations wthis go round because it is at 9pm each night. I love fireworks- just so hard to leave some out!!

Fantasmic really is amazing... and I really like that there's seating. None of the other fireworks shows have seating, so you have to find your own place to be. You could then stay for some of the EMH or just head back to your resort. Also, it's not that late. For my dates the Fantasmic showings are at 6:30, and 7, which means you could do it and still get into bed at a decent hour.
What are you planning on doing for the rest of the day? If you're going to be at DS all day then Fantasmic could be a nice close for the night...

I know, it's hard to skip stuff that you really want to do and see, but it is better than having to deal with tired grumpy kids while on vacation! Plus it gives you something to look forward to on the next trip! :goodvibes

What kind of work do you do that you don't get a day off for 23 days? Yikes!!
My DH works two jobs and his main job is 6 days a week, so there are stretches where he works every day for a while, but I don't think he's ever hit 23 days! You need a nap and a:hug: Whenever I or my DDs complain that Daddy's always working, I just tell them (and myself) that his 2nd job is paying for WDW! It's definitely worth it!! And at least he doesn't travel away from home overnight like many other DH's (or DW's) do.

I agree - if you and your kids would be too tired - Illuminations is the latest show, so that would be the one to skip. We didn't get to do much our last trip (one day at MK) so we want to do more this time, and then more than that next time, and so on, and so on...

Who said the snowbirds are slow on the weekends!
My goodness I stay away for the weekend and expect us to have the last few legs of part II to finish and you're 15pages into part III!!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend, and a pleasant Monday morning! :goodvibes
I don't know about anyone else but I am just plain exhausted! Stupid midterm time. I can't wait till the end of this week, when my tests are over, work will quiet down, and I get to party for Halloween!

I can't believe how fast the time is flying! I think I've been inspired to do my own countdown later on!

I see lots of people hoping for some Jan codes, so I'll be thinking happy thoughts for you this week! :wizard: Codes won't help me since I'm renting DVC, but I'm still hoping for a Princess and Pirate party at the end of January!!!! pirate: princess:

I get to party too because I'm at 89 day!!!!

I am a teacher 5 days a week, and I have a part time job in a retail resort wear store on Cape Cod. I usually just work on Saturdays, but have had to take on extra days to make sure I can afford this trip without going into our everyday real money. (does that make sense?)

It is the first time in 8 years that I am going to fly Delta. I am a Southwest girl all the way, but we got a good price on there tickets. They have changed the times 2 in each direction, and I want to go earlier not later. Does anyone know how to get out of paying the fee to get an earlier flight on Delta. We were originally coming in and getting in at 9:15 pm and we were going to go to DTD...or walk around the Boardwalk. Now we get in at 10:45 pm and I hate it.....gggrrrrr On our last day we were changed twice. Once made us leave an hour earlier and now only 15 minutes earlier!

Sarbah--what is Twilight?

Sharadoc---How old is your dd? The one you took to HSM3? Just curious? I have kids who want to go, but wanted to ask someone first who's seen it---I personally love the song & dance thing, but wanted to check for my kids before we went!! Thanks!!!

Hi DM3,

She's 7, will be 8 in January. I felt it was totally appropriate. Honestly nothing that I thought would be questionable. They talk about the prom, but don't actually show the real prom, so no "date" events. Troy finally kisses Gabriella on screen on this one, but nothing "heavy". Just sort of sweet. Clothes are fine, nothing too skimpy, although Sharpay does wear a short skirt in part of it, but not excessive. Nothing low-cut. No one acts "sl**ty" or anything. How old are yours? If you love song and dance, you'll enjoy this. I saw elements of Busby Berkely musicals, Footloose dancing, even Fred Astaire stuff.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'd be happy to help.

Jen - on your countdown you listed "blow up pumpkins" Does that mean "inflate" or actually explode? :)

It wouldn't be Halloween without blowing up pumpkins LOL!! Dr. Mayhem shows up and we actually blow up pumpkins (EXPLODE LOL). What we are doing is showing the exergonic reaction when you mix calcium carbide and water together and then light the gas on fire! We will actually have the pumpkins carved and the explosion blows out the pieces creating a very spooky looking jack o lantern!!

We are also making Martian Slime and Elephant toothpaste on Friday!

I'm home cleaning the kitchen. Wipe down a counter- check back on the board. Do another five minute chore, check the board again!
I am bummed that touringplans.com is down right now. I am trying to view the crowd levels/ best and worst parks for 1/22-1/26. I am guessing that DS will be pretty crowded on 1/22 because it is one of only two days with Fantasmic eachweek and they have EMH.
Would anybody consider just skipping Epcot all together with 5 and 9 year old kids? (I only have 4 nights.)

Wow. I sleep in for once and have tons to catch up on! It is such a yucky day here! I drove my DD to school today. She has a bit of a cold and I didn't want her (or myself) standing outside in the wind and the rain and the cold. I then came back home and fell asleep. I had such an exhausting weekend and it felt soooo good to catch up on some sleep.

:welcome: to all of our new Snowbirds! So glad you could join us!

I'm at 89 days today! Woo hoo! party:

I'm still trying to decide what to do our first afternoon/evening in Florida. We land around 1:30pm and can't check into our hotel until 4pm. We'll probably head over to the hotel anyways and see if the room is ready yet. I'm thinking that we might head over to DTD to grab some dinner and do some shopping!

My DD just turned 6 and we're doing Epcot. She's never been there and neither has my DH. My DD loves learning about different countries so we plan on buying her the kids passport thing. She'll love getting stamps at each country and we'll most likely take her to the kidcot funstops to make the masks. I loved Epcot as a kid, but every kid is different. You can definately make it fun though.

Are you having a big party, or a family one?

The only park that DH is excited about is AK! So we can't skip it. We are taking a Sunrise Safari there Sun am, and my plan was just to stay there until we see whatever we want. DH wants to also go on Thu but I think I'll over rule him. (Or else we go on Thu, and leave after the safari Sun am).

Good morning Snowbirds! :cool1: :cool1:

This has been me all morning :surfweb: since I haven't been around since Friday! Yes, I read all through the end of Part II (from page 238 :scared: ) and got all caught up on Part III. Wow we are chatty! :chat:

:welcome: , new Snowbirds! The more the merrier! :jumping1:

:grouphug: all around to those who especially need them. The Snowbirds are here for you.

Sarah--I guess you're at your Dr. appt. now. Hope you're getting good news! Hey, you have the same birthday as my DD--she'll be turning 1!

Kimberly--I'm so glad to hear your kitty came home! :woohoo:

Carrie--My name is Kathy...thanks for asking! It just occurred to me the other day that no one here knew that. I also like addressing people by their name if I know it.

Thanks to everyone for their input on renting DVC points. I think that IF I could get a 1-BR at OKW it would be a great deal...but only during the week, since weekends cost a lot more points. But then we'd have to move to SOG (or possibly an OKW studio?) for a few nights. I'd be surprised if OKW would be available anyway...basically I'm thinking that it's not worth the trouble to work it out for this trip. But I'll definitely keep it in mind for future trips as the kids get bigger!

Christmas shopping...yikes! :scared1: Am I the only one who isn't done yet? (besides the day-after-Thanksgiving shoppingfest?) OK, am I the only who who hasn't STARTED yet? Guess I need to get on the ball! :santa:

Our first day...we'll be arriving early afternoon. Plan is to check in at SOG and head over to MK. We'll visit some attractions, have counter service dinner (not sure where--DH loves clam chowder, so maybe Columbia Harbor House), and catch Spectromagic and Wishes! pixiedust: I'm concerned about one thing, and maybe you have some advice. We usually do rope drop and hit the big rides early. I'm afraid that arriving mid-afternoon on MLK day it will be busy, but the guys (including DH) will still want to hit the e-tickets. How can I convince them to save those for later in the week when we'll be there early?

Happy Disney Day, everyone! :wizard:

By the way, I love everyone's countdowns! I wish I had events to countdown to! I LOVE Thanksgiving and the days that follow. This will be my 5th year going out on Black Friday and it's a holiday to me for sure! I just go by myself and I don't go too many places. I always hit up Old Navy (and this will be my 2nd Christmas shopping experience with my discount!)! In past years, I've gone to Toys R Us, Macy's, JC Penney's....it all depends on what I'm shopping for. This year, my eyes will be peeled for the Nintendo DS. I will most likely be up at midnight and purchase it online. I really don't like going to Best Buy, Circuit City, etc on black Friday. Too much chaos!

I have only bought my DD a few things so far for Christmas. A bathrobe and some Disney shirts. That's it. I do the bulk of my shopping on black friday and then pick up other things as needed throughout December. I can't shop for Christmas during the year. I would lose things!

Okay, after thinking I didn't have much happening in the next 92 days, I found a few things to look forward to:

4 days until Halloween

13 days until DH and I have a date to see Wicked

30 days until I see Wicked again with girlfriends :)

31 days until Thanksgiving

47 days until cabin weekend with girlfriends (different girlfriends)party: :drinking1

59 days until Christmas:santa:

64 days until 13 yr anniv of 1st date with DH

82 days until Girl Scout Cookie sales start (yup I'm the cookie manager for DD7's Brownie troop)

88 days until DH and DD5 leave to pick up MILfor WDW (by car)

92 days until we are all together again at WDW!!!!:cheer2:

Oh, just G, Belle and I. We are going to make a special dinner, put Belle in her new Tink Jammies and curl up in the bed together. It's more of a family night than a party. :)

AAWWW! That sounds so sweet!! Enjoy and :bday: Belle!!

Okay, agreed. However, I think part of this story was Sharpay's redemption. Did you notice how her hair got darker throughout the movie, and not as teased and sprayed? She found out what was important in life, and showed how she could focus on others not just herself.

WOW - HSM philosophical discussions!

Personally, I thought there wasn't enough Ryan. He was featured so much in 2, then it was kind of dropped. Overall, the story was secondary to the production numbers, which meant they couldn't focus so much on the individual stories. And now that Zac Efron is such a star, they wrote it to feature his story more so his fans would be into it (plus Zac was hesitant to do the 3rd movie, so I'm sure that was part of the reason for featuring him more.)

And Snowbirds, can I say that we are talking A WHOLE LOT. Look at all the pages - our excitement level is so high. We're all under 3 months, and now that Halloween is practically here, we are just constantly motoring through holidays until our trips. :cheer2:

wow everyone! I am so excited to see all of your countdowns. Being as I work in retail I am dreading Halloween being over. my life goes from having two days off to week to maybe one or half of one. I wish I could go shopping on black friday, but alas I will be at work. I am not angry though! I am soo looking forward to going to Disney in Jan! I have 75 days left and I know time will just fly with the holidays approaching!

Okay I just went back and read some of the other pages. I really did not intend to insult anyone with my HSM3 rant. Sorry Sharadoc if I went on too much.

No apology required :) I honestly did not see any s*xual undertones at all, and I thought the kiss was fine, too. Just goes to show how we're all different, that's all, but I think I see way more on TV shows for kids that I don't feel comfortable with.

Oh My goodness! Page 17 already? My my my y'a;; have been chatty this morning! Sometimes I hate that I can't say good morning to you all until lunchtime! I always have busy mornings and never anytime to sleep in! This has been me for the last hour trying to catch to all you chatty snowbirds! :surfweb:

Just had a few comments to make on other posts!

Oh Wow Jen! You must be the best science teacher ever! :woohoo: What awesome ideas! :thumbsup2 Wish I had been lucky enough to have a science teacher like you in HS! :)

This is also our plan for our DD's! They both love learning about other countries and cultures! We plan to spend almost 2 full days in Epcot because we know that our DD's will be totally into it !! :woohoo:

Hope everyone has a great afternoon! :goodvibes
