Isn't it the one in Hollywood Studios? Umm, Something and the Art of Animation? I've never done it either but my "artist" children would enjoy it. I think it is okay for younger ones, I intend to take my 5 and 7 year old through.
Okay, I checked, it's called The Magic of Disney Animation. It's back by The Voyage of the Little Mermaid.

I love this!!!! It's amazing. The first part is a little video showing how the draw some of the characters, then you walk through some of the drawing samples. Such as the rough drafts and stuff of the movies. Then there is an area for pictures and interactive stuff. In there, is the drawing. It's great. Very easy to follow along with the instructor. If you like drawing or doodling at all, you'll like it.

My family has never done this. I have heard at times there is a meet and greet with a character at the end of it. I hope your family has fun doing this.

Thanks for all the info. We never really go down that way in HS so I guess we've just missed it all these years! We'll definately have to do it!! I think my 6yr old son would like it!

There is usually a character there from the most current Disney movie! :goodvibes

Hold up! Pumpkin pie milkshake???? Oh, please tell me that will still be around when I hit the USA!!!! I would love to try that! There was a local ice cream parlor/diner near me in central PA that sold Pumpkin soft serve ice cream. Oh, it was to die for!!!!

Yeah, THAT! Wowsers, our side of the border never has stuff like that.

I love pumpkin anything....

Here's what my BIL says:

Fourth flavor shakes (additional flavor other than vanilla, chocolate or strawberry) are a decision made by stores in a local advertising coop. As an example, in Ft. Myers we do not have pumpkin pie, but we will have egg nog from around Thanksgiving until Christmas. The owners in each advertising coop deicide if they want an additional flavor from those that are offered by our distribution center. At the beginning of each year, each advertising coop group of owners review the fourth flavor syrups that will be available and when they will be available, and decide if they want to sell them or not. I hope that answers your question.

So basically the answer is each McDonald's can be different! Good luck finding what you want where you are!!

Yeah, so... my DH was wrong. It was pumpkin pie, listed next to the shakes. Our local McD has Arctic Orange and the basics. I was very sad, but I got a chocolate shake and fries anyway.

My bro called today, to see how I was doing and talk Disney. He's an add-on to my parents room, so he's getting the tickets/meal plan/blah blah, but my parents didn't really tell him anything else. Like, if he was invited to join us for meals. :rotfl: So I told him that we'd changed all ADRs for when he was in town to include him and that made him happy. He's also happy to join my DH in the quest to Drink Around the World.

I split our final payment into 2, so it crosses credit card due dates. Emotionally easier to swallow half at a time!! Our final payment is due in NINE days. Holy cow, we're 54 days out!! How exciting!!

Good evening Snowbirds! Yikes - it's been chatty around here since Friday morning. I only worked a half day Friday, as we were up with a sick little boy most of the night Thursday, and I was beat! Luckily, it appeared to be a 12-hour thing - he was bouncing off the walls by Friday afternoon!!! Kids can be so resilient. We took him roller skating today (his first time at a rink) to help burn off energy. Boy am I tired and sore!! :lmao:

Sarah - glad your surgery went well!!

I've not been to McDs to check out the shake situation, however, the Speedway gas stations have pumpkin spice cappuccinos which are YUMMY!

Watching the last of the NASCAR race right now.

So, when will we be on part IV?? :rotfl:

Still looks like no additions to the closures for January:
- Dumbo The Flying Elephant: Closed for Refurbishment [January 7, 2009]
- Mickey's PhilharMagic : Closed for Refurbishment [January 18, 2009 to January 31, 2009]
-Splash Mountain®: Closed for Refurbishment [January 4, 2009 to January 17, 2009]
-The Hall Of Presidents: Closed for Refurbishment [January 1, 2009 to January 31, 2009] (actually through July 4)

Still nothing for DHS, Epcot or AK....:cool1:

Hope no one else gets that 12 hour bug! Glad to hear it wasn't too bad!
I've been to some coffee shops like Caribou and Starbucks and they all have special pumpkin drinks going on now too! My DH and DD5 were watching the race. DD5 picked out her favorite car - "the one with cereal boxes" and said Mommy's favorite is the Target car!! Gotta teach 'em young! We rarely watch racing anyway, DH is definitely a football guy so I was surprised he was watching. He had to rest after hanging Christmas lights outside in the cold and running to the store twice to get more supplies!

Part IV by the end of the week!

It ended up being pretty here today! I figured it would be cold and windy (40's) like yesterday so we didn't even think about going outside. Then my 6 yr old saw the neighbor kids out and he wanted to go. Found out it was high 50's and sunny! So hubby decided to get off the bed and go hang lights! So glad that's done! Switched some ADR's around some. I'm so obsessed. Hopefully this will be the last time!

Is this part of the park or is an additional fee? It looks really neat!

It's part of the park! I really recommend it to anyone. Even if you don't like to draw, they have an area that "guests" can sit and just watch. It's so much fun! My friend just watched me draw the whole time. And the instructor wasn't boring. Nothing like , "first draw a circle, then a line, then this, then this". There is an overhead projector that the instructor draws on and you just sort of "copy" what they do. But the whole time he is talking to "the class" and having a ton of interaction that you don't really even know what you are doing until he says ok your character should be done! I drew Donald. If you want, I can try to take a picture of it tomorrow and post it on here.

I really can't speak highly enough of it. However I'm one of those people who has more doodles than anything on their notes :rolleyes1 .

Oh, this just really excites me for Caroline. She draws non-stop, virtually every day is an art project of some kind on the go, and Meredith is right on her heels. They're both - but especially Caroline - going to love this.

Count me in as another snow bird heading down to WDW in January.:cool1:

We made our first visit in Aug. 08 and stayed at the WL. The only problem is that it was for 5 nights and way to busy.

Being from N.E. Ohio it's not a hard decision to take the DD(11) out of school, grab the DW and get away in the middle of January for what I hope will be nice weather in Orlando. The 3 free days promo and $200 gift card was too hard to pass up.

We will be staying at the GF from Jan 25th and leaving Feb. 1st. We fell in love with this place in August the first time we walked through it. I'm hoping the stay there is as impressive as it looks.

Our dinner meal itinerary is as follows.

Jan 25th
Chef Mickey 7:50pm

Jan 26th
Ohana's 6:50pm

Jan 27th
Cinderela's Royal Table 5:30pm

Jan 28th
Coral Reef 6:50pm

Jan 29th
Boma's 7:00pm

Jan 30th
Tutto Italia 7:00pm (may change)

Jan 31st

Good morning everyone! It is very cold here today. My DH is going to the Bills game tonight and where the stadium is located, they're calling for 6-12 inches of snow! This is one game where I'm more than happy to watch from home.

My DD really enjoyed the Rockettes last night as did I. The show was fantastic! My mom bought her a t-shirt and she wore it to school today. So cute! I was already in a Christmas mood, but now I really am!

I have to go get a mini physical today for my life insurance. I'm super nervous because I have to get blood taken. Just thinking about it is making me woozy. :scared: I really don't want to go, but I know that I have to. But first, grocery shopping. I really don't like going out on these cold days, but at least the sun is shining!

Good Morning Snowbirds!! And a very hearty welcome to our new snowbirds!!!!

This weekend and today are super crazy!! We went with our teens to a Teen Retreat which is always fun. Today is progress report day at school, along with the fact I have two tests I have to take when I get home. I would say I would stop my procrastinating at some point, but considering its my last grad class...seems a bit late in the game now LOL!!! I can't wait till next Wednesday when I will have a 5-day weekend and maybe get caught up on sleep!!

Well I hope you all have a great day!!

Hey Jen, it's was supposed to get down to 36 last night-I sure didn't go out to check it!! Our high is suppose to be around 64--so, it's sunny and that should be really good-unless that wind is still whipping around!!! I always say I love cold weather--I think what I mean is anything with 0% humidity and less than 75 degrees:thumbsup2 When the humidity is about 95% and it's 115-- I guess most people are looking forward to winter!! I have heard that due to the weather cycle and the severe hurricanes, we are suppose to have a very early and harsh winter---anybody know if that's the case:confused3

So does everyone think we are safe as far as there being no rehabs scheduled at Epcot, DHS, and AK??? It seems to me that if they are going to have any they should be posted by now. . . But I don't really know for sure how far in advance they normally post those types of things. . .

How about the 2009 DDP Restaurants? Is that list finalized yet? I was just reading on another thread that the food court at CSR - Pepper Market, and several other non-Disney owned restaurants at DTD and World Showcase at Epcot are NOT going to participate in the DDP for 2009 because they were losing too much money. Anybody have any further info on that???

We are past the middle of November, I would think these things would be finalized by now!!! :confused3

I would certaintely hope so because I planned my meals based on the 2008 list and it wouldn't make much sense to continue with DxDP if I had to pay OOP for 2-3 of the meals. I really hope we hear about this soon if they are going to have changes, so I can make changes to my reservation in time.

We just bought the new Guitar Hero World Tour for PS2. Yeah, we don't have to newest system, but it's still fun. The drums are a blast! My DH can't seem to get the hang of them though. It's super fun.

Meghan--we also have PS2. We have Guitar Hero II, and I think we'll get the boys the Aerosmith version for Christmas. :rockband: But I'm not familiar with the World Tour one--it has a drumming feature? DS10 is a budding percussionist  and he'd probably love that.

We hear from two separate sources that Disney is readying a host of new WDW discounts, to be announced during ABC's broadcast of the WDW Christmas Parade. Travel dates would be January - March 2009. Pure speculation at this point, and we don't have details beyond this. In any event, it's a smart move by Disney to have a backup plan in case the latest Buy-4-Get-3-Free deal doesn't do enough to boost occupancy. This will put further downward pressure on off-site hotel rates, too.

In related news Disney may be testing two all-you-can-eat counter-service meal plans at the Animal Kingdom:

$15 for one all-you-can-eat meal at any counter-service restaurant

$25 for two all-you-can-eat meals at any counter-service restaurant, similar to Universal's all-you-can-eat plan

Offers for this test are to in-park visitors and through email, with some of those emails rumored to target previous WDW visitors who used their Disney room cards to charge buffet meals. Ah, data mining at its finest!

I read this on the Unofficial Guide site...wonder if it's true or not...too bad that it may come after I make our final payment.

What happens if it is something like free dining...can you go back and apply it to you plan..and do you just pay the difference if you have Deluxe dining!

At this point, for anyone who has to pay off their trip in the next few weeks, I'd suggest leaving off the dining plan. You can re-add it to your reservation within 72 hours of arrival, so there's no harm, and once the lists are finalized, you can decide if it's still a good deal for you. Things seem to be in such a state of flux that no one can be certain of anything!

This is a quote from someone that stays at CSR all the time. So just keep in mind that you may not be able to use the DDP for those of you staying there. . . Also everyone be careful with the World Showcase and DTD restaurants. . .

"Last year the PM, Maya Grill and Siestas didn't sign up until December BUT I heard from a friend at CSR that the Pepper Market is losing money by participating in the dining plan.

Also, there will be only 2 restaurants at Downtown Disney that will take it (Captain Jack's and Food Quest in DisneyQuest).

The number of countries is also going down as well. Only Canada, the UK, Norway, Germany, and the US will accept the dining plan.

It looks to be all restaurants that are run by outside companies will no longer be participating in the dining plan.

It's not in stone yet but just a heads up."

We also have another resort update. We are now staying at POP (for the first time:)). We decided that since we are ""Park" people and spend most of our time there (especially with the shorter park hours) that staying at CBR would be a waste. We sleep at our resort and that’s about it. Thanks for the heads up!!! My dining plan was a gift so I'm not sure how it would work to drop it and re-add it...and this only affects 3 of my ADRs and I was planning on canceling one of them (Raglan Road) anyways because of a better opportunity arising...I think I will do a dessert around the monorail resort thing LOL! I'll have a big lunch at 50's PTC anyways...

I have two meals at EPCOT (one in France and one in Japan, so I might just change one of them to one of the other countries just to be on the safe side and pay one out of pocket).

Just wanted to clarify that the advice I gave (which Shelly quoted) is not from a person who stays at CSR all the time - I'm a first-timer at CSR! It's the subsequent quote that's from the long-timer.

I'm getting the distinct impression that either Disney will have to sweeten the pot for these restaurants (which will of course increase the costs of and/or limit the choices on the dining plans), or there will be many fewer people doing the dining plans. Those who are on the cusp of saving money but want the convenience will probably pass if there are too many places that don't take it - there's limited convenience if you can't eat where you want to eat.

Cantina de San Angel Mexico (CS)

Good morning everyone! It is very cold here today. My DH is going to the Bills game tonight and where the stadium is located, they're calling for 6-12 inches of snow! This is one game where I'm more than happy to watch from home.

My DD really enjoyed the Rockettes last night as did I. The show was fantastic! My mom bought her a t-shirt and she wore it to school today. So cute! I was already in a Christmas mood, but now I really am! !

GO BILLS!!!!

Meghan.,... my mom and aunt went to Shae's yesterday to see the ROckettes also.... they had a wonderful time.....!!

Surgery went ok. The only problem was when they took the uterus it was twice the weight its supposed to be so off to pathology it goes. We will find out this week what was up with it. Can't sit toolong at computer thanks to all for thoughts & prayers. Will chat more later this week.

I quoted Buzz - who stays there every year. I don't think I have seen anything you posted about it.

Either way CSR doesn't affect me. . . I am more concerned about the Epcot restaurants and I noticed that not all of the Boardwalk area restaurants are listed. . .

Does anyone have a list of non-Disney owned restaurants??? That would be helpful in determining which ones *might* not participate.

Aaaaaaak! I'm having more resort indecision! :scared1:
I had pretty well decided that, even with the 3-free deal at a Disney hotel, staying with SOG was better for us. But I was just reading the SOG thread, and someone who usually stays there just got back from a trip where they had stayed offsite at Wyndham Cypress Palms (timeshare) through AFVC (Armed Forces Vacation Club--can stay at various timeshares around the world for $329/week). Anyway, he thought it was GREAT, even though he loves SOG. So now I'm thinking about that! Here's what I've come up with:

Pros to staying at SOG:
SO CLOSE to MK--walk to Poly and catch monorail
Convenient to other parks (we'll have our car, so we'll drive to other parks)
Extra Magic Hours--we'd planned 3 morning and 1 evening EMH

Pros to staying at WCP (or other timeshare through AFVC):
More space--SOG's rooms are BIG, but they're still just one room. At a timeshare we would have a separate bedroom (possibly 2), living room, kitchen, washer/dryer, etc. Could put the baby to bed and stay up in the living room.
Lower cost--SOG would be $780 for 6 nights ($125/night + $5/night parking); AFVC would be $329 for the week (we'd still probably only stay 6 nights). Parking at the parks is a question mark...officially they are supposed to charge SOG guests to park at all but MK, but in practice they sometimes don't.

Do any of you wise Snowbirds have any additional thoughts for me? Meghan, where are you staying? Have any of you stayed at Wyndham Cypress Palms or other offsite timeshares? Help! I'm suddenly in a panic. Silly, I know. :sad2: Thanks for any insight you can give me! :flower3:

The rehabs don't look too bad now, I hope they stay that way! There was definitely more closed last year.

As far as CBR, it might be different with longer park hours, but (not counting EMH) MK is basically open from 9:00am-8:00pm, Epcot 9:00am-7:00pm, HS 9:00am-7:00pm and AK 9:00am-5:00pm. When you have two kids that want to do "everything", those hours do not give you much time.;) The last two years the kids have had no problem doing the parks with the shorter hours (and we take it at their pace :)), so we'll stick to being there from open to close once again. I look at it this way, it gives me more time for Dole Whips!

jenjoltFor some reason, our dates in early january aren't included. It doesn't matter because i've already gotten my 4/3 deal but still!

The Visa deal ("supposedly") is good for ANY dates from 1/4-6/27/2008.

Meghan--we also have PS2. We have Guitar Hero II, and I think we'll get the boys the Aerosmith version for Christmas. :rockband: But I'm not familiar with the World Tour one--it has a drumming feature? DS10 is a budding percussionist  and he'd probably love that.

The World Tour game is like Rock Band. It has a guitar, drum set and a microphone. Up to four people can play (two guitars). We're thinking about having my sis and BIL over so we can play all together.

:flower3:

We are staying at Horizons by Marriott. In the past, we have stayed at Marriott Cypress Harbor and Marriott Grande Vista. We don't have the option of EMH which kind of stinks but I love having a full kitchen and washer/dryer. We will also have our own master bedroom and screened in porch. That way, when our DD goes to bed, we can still hang out in our room and not have to go to sleep all at once. It's really up to you. Our hotel is off of I-Drive, so we're only about 10-20 minutes from all of the parks. We are a "stay in the parks from open to close" kind of family, so where we stay doesn't really matter to us.

Congrats! Me too yesterday. Hope you are not using Ralph Lauren paint. I bought this color called river rock and OMG what a mistake.

Yes you have to buy the entire package to get the guitars. World tour has drums too. We have them all but then Daddy plays in a band.

Surgery went ok. The only problem was when they took the uterus it was twice the weight its supposed to be so off to pathology it goes. We will find out this week what was up with it. Can't sit toolong at computer thanks to all for thoughts & prayers. Will chat more later this week.
Hi Kate, Sending you some :flower3:. Glad to hear from you.

So what time is check in at the castle? I'll sleep in the tub if I have to!

This is definitely on my to do list !!!! Thanks!

So does everyone think we are safe as far as there being no rehabs scheduled at Epcot, DHS, and AK??? It seems to me that if they are going to have any they should be posted by now. . . But I don't really know for sure how far in advance they normally post those types of things. . .

We are past the middle of November, I would think these things would be finalized by now!!! :confused3
I'm hoping they are done. It's bad enough Philharmagic is closed. I'll be bummed if there's anything else. :sad2:

Glad your surgery went well Kayte. Hopefully the recovery is quick! :flower3:

Morning Everyone,

I read this on the Unofficial Guide site...wonder if it's true or not...too bad that it may come after I make our final payment.
Hmmmm interesting! The pot is sweet already but I'd welcome any more deals!

Okay I am really trying to get my act together and get some details planned and I could use some help form all my Snowbird friends....

It's my husband's birthday while we are down there and I'm trying to come up with some fun ideas. I have dinner reservations at Coral Reef but it's sounding like they may not do the diver or personalized menus. I'm going to keep checking though. Any other ideas of things we could do for him?

I was also trying to think of some fun ideas for the kids. I looked at disney florist com and love the welcome packages that have your room all decorated from Mickey but they are pricey and only come with one of everything- I have two little ones and the one Mickey plush that comes with it just wouldn't cut it.

Well, I took today and did NOTHING. Nothing at all. Took some pain killers, though. Do you think it would be "bad" if wore jogging pants to work tomorrow? We don't have a dress code, so I technically can, and I'm afraid if I wear real pants, I'll decide that I really really hurt early in the day... and DH will have the car offsite! (yesterday i wore some non-baggy exercise shorts and, um, ow, and they did have an elastic... granted that was yesterday, I'm a hair healthier today, and then tomorrow really is a new day!)

So... either I missed something the last time I looked at the Disney Calendar or they've extended the hours and added a Fantasmic showing to another night we'll be there.
I thought there would only be two Fantasmic showings while we were there, so I'm pretty thrilled that we happen to have another option.

I just checked and DHS has changed it's hours some. . . For the week I am there they changed 3 days. Changed one closing time from 10:00 to 9:00. And changed 2 - 7:00 closings to 9:00. On the 22nd they were closing and showing Fantasmic at 7:00, it still says 7:00 for Fantasmic but now closing at 9:00. . . Very interesting. Still only showing Fantasmic 2 times that week though.

It doesn't really affect me I guess. Although longer hours on the 22nd may mean more people at DHS. I just hope they don't go and change Fantasmic to 9:00. I don't think they will since it was set for 7:00 when we made our Fantasmic dinner package ADR and we had to make it for sometime around 4:00.

I was looking at the same thing! Even the ones at the florist that are around $40, you have to pay another 15 to deliver, and my kids would fight over everything!! Still thinking about a cake at Cali Grill but don't really want the $20 plain one and don't really want to pay $45 or more!! I want to make it a little special for hubby, but not where we have to go in debt for a cake or decorations!

It was kind of slow in here earlier today but things are really hopping this evening. :cool1:

I noticed that too...well I just finished my first of two tests for tonight...I for one will be very happy for tomorrow to come!!!

I'm thinking I just have to get through this week and two days next week and then I get a break...but I'll be pretty busy those days. I'm going to be making Christmas cards, Thanksgiving dinner, and then shopping LOL!! But boy will time fly by and then we'll be at Disney...I'm so very excited!!

Sorry to ramble I'm really trying to avoid having to start my other test LOL!

19 more posts before I hit 1000...I'm going for a record...1000posts in 3 months LOL!

;) Okay I am really trying to get my act together and get some details planned and I could use some help form all my Snowbird friends....

I was also trying to think of some fun ideas for the kids. I looked at disney florist com and love the welcome packages that have your room all decorated from Mickey but they are pricey and only come with one of everything- I have two little ones and the one Mickey plush that comes with it just wouldn't cut it.

I have been thinking the same thing...the only thing is I AM CHEAP so Disney florist is not going to be happening. I have been looking through the creative boards and I am doing personalized invites to all our meals and I am going to make special Disney chocolates with them. Every night "Mickey" is gong to visit while they sleep and send them a special invite. I also found fake disney money that I am going to print out and leave for my oldest so he can pick out something special to take home (we'll swich to realy money when we pay I just don't want him losing the real thing ;))

I am not a very crafty person but after being on the DISign boards I have the bug.:goodvibes You can always make your own welcome packages and have a bell boy/girl bring them up when you get there? Hope you get some ideas :)

Yeah this is my 100th post :cheer2: :yay:   :yay: :cheer2:

Good morning everyone! It is very cold here today. My DH is going to the Bills game tonight and where the stadium is located, they're calling for 6-12 inches of snow! This is one game where I'm more than happy to watch from home.

I'll also be more than happy watching the game on my flat screen than out in the cold. Go Browns. :cheer2:

It doesn't really affect me I guess. Although longer hours on the 22nd may mean more people at DHS. I just hope they don't go and change Fantasmic to 9:00. I don't think they will since it was set for 7:00 when we made our Fantasmic dinner package ADR and we had to make it for sometime around 4:00.

Figures I start planning stuff out and they go changing hours and shows on me. :scared:

I started looking over there too- I'm pretty crafty so I'm going to make some stuff I think. I'm making iron on tshirts/sweatshirts for all of us. For my parents I'm making one's that say Grandmom's/Pop Pop's Mouseketeers and putting all the grandkids names on mouse ears. I just started digital scrapbooking and I'm figuring out how to do it. I saved some of the DISigns for wrapping candy bars in too- Did you see the little nugget ones that you make to look like the characters with feet and heads?- adorable! Let me know if you guys come across anything else! I've been bit by the creative bug!

I'm off to shower, relax and get some sleep- this cold I have is interfering with my beauty sleep! If y'all chat so much that we are on Part IV by morning- someone leave a link for me!!!!!!!!

It's very cool. My little sis used to take Irish dance and I loved going to watch her. We have a family friend who lives in Syracuse who's daughter does Irish dancing. She's 16 and has been to Ireland, Scotland, and Great Britain for competitions. She's really good!

I taught a girl in Sunday school that was an Irish dancer, as was her mom and one of her sisters. I've heard that they were really good. They would travel for lots of competitions, too.

Good night my Snowbird friends. I am heading to bed. Hopefully I will wake to find Snowbirds Part IV tomorrow!

Let me start by saying - you may not think you are crafty but once you get on there and start looking around you'll get bit my the bug too! I have been making tons of stuff and I am still two months away :goodvibes

There is a lady named Natalie - she does the most AMAZING DISigns. She has invites to almost all the restaurants as well as other activities and Welcome Invites. She will personalize it for you or you can save her shared stuff and personalize it yourself.

Here is her link for shared stuff:

And this is her link to her invites thread:

I too am making t-shirts. My boys are wearing matching shirts all week! I am a Disney Geek ;) YES, I am making those nuggets - so cute! I know that my boys will enjoy these "little" things just as much as if I spent lots of $$. Also it is SO MUCH FUN!

I was just thinking about digital scrapbooking but I am worried about printing out all the pages. Will it look good? How much will it cost?? I'm not sure. I am going to start looking into it as soon as I catch up will the last year of pictures I haven't even touched yet :scared1:

[QUOTE=DisneyLifer87;28774720]Good evening snowbirds! So I was checking into getting an autograph book early and I wanna custom make one but I'm not crafty. At all. Any ideas?

There are a few people on the Creative DISign thread that do autograph books. You just print out the pages onto 4x6 cards (easy) and ask one of them to personalize the cover for you. You can take it to a staples to get it bound or get a cheap plastic photo album to put them in.

Here are a few links to some of the people that make them:

or

Clothing to pack:
Jeans
Shorts
T-shirts
Sweatshirts
Swimsuit
* I hope everyone can remember to pack undies and socks on their own!:rotfl:

Weather varies so much at that time of year. Plan to wear layers. My days usually are jeans and a t-shirt with a sweatshirt in my backpack for after the sun goes down.

My DDs and I are planning on putting our own together too - probably be a combination of everything else we've seen - some pre-printed stuff, some disney stickers and anything we want from our scrapbooking 'stash' to jazz them up a bit. We're going to use cardstock for our pages so that they're a little more durable, and I have a binding machine so we can put wire bindings on, then tie ribbons etc on the binding, (and tie on a sharpie marker so we always have the pen close by).

Good luck!

I think it will be okay....:rotfl: we can blame it on Tinkerbell... she told us to do it.....fiesty little fairy she is....:rotfl2:

Just add to add that Tink has always been one of my favorites, and as a kid, I was not allowed to jump in beds. So,, I told my mom when I grew up I would let my kids say bad words and jump in the bed---she always said I was fiesty too!! Of course, I do NOT let my kids say bad words (I have NO idea where that came from:sad2: ) but I do let them jump on my big bed occassionaly!!! And I have crazy dreams like that all the time!!

I'm just shocked you even told your mom you would let them say bad words LOL!!! That is too funny!!! I told my mom I would let me kids eat ice cream for breakfast whenever they wanted...let's just say I think Mom is going to enjoy being right about that one LOL!!! Or even worse she'll give them ice cream for breakfast and then send them home to me LOL

DH was no help. :sad2:

My man is never any help either. It's frustrating.

Usually what I do when I can't make up my mind is pick something, then realize how I feel about the decision. Eenie Meenie Miney Mo... sometimes works. I pick one, and then I can usually tell which choice I'll be happy with because I say the other one actually won.

That's how I decided to stay in AKL. I decided that I couldn't justify the money and chose POR instead. However, I was not OK with that decision so I tried to figure out how I could stay at AKL part of the time and still not spend too much money. Then, I decided that's where I really wanted to stay, so instead of settling with a Moderate, I settled with a less expensive room at AKL, and I'm happy with my decision.

I suppose it might be too late for you to do that though, because you cannot very well cancel your room at SoG and then book at the Timeshare place, then decide you want SoG back again.

We've done the Condo thing, and it's nice, but we're stay in the parks all day people, then crash as soon as we get home. The only real perk to it was the fact we could cook breakfast in our room, but we ended up eating cereal or donuts half the time anyways, which we could have done in a hotel room.
For us I actually think it would have been nice to have an on property room, because then we could all go at different paces. It was frustrating sometimes to have to wait until everybody was ready to leave in the morning, and ready to go back at night. However, our last few trips have been many teenagers and adults...

'Barney' wasn't very amused, which made it all the more embarrassing! I'll have to write that story in her scrap book, though.

Speaking of Tinkerbelle.... Have any of you seen the movie? I just cried at the end of it, it was so nostalgic and sweet! I just love Disney!!!!

Oh, and now when Belle see's the castle at the beginning of Disney movies she tell's us "I go Disney!"

Hi All! Welcome to any new Snowbirds...pixie dust and hugs to those who need it! I am ok...things have been really stressful at our house with the layoff. The shoe fell on Friday and he got a severence til end of Dec. I am a bit of a mess. We are still going on the trip. Airfare and tickets are not refundable, we are using my firends DVC and since she is with us, it is free. We pricelined a car so we can't get that back either...at this point not going would lose us a bunch of money. We have to eat anyway, we will just have to be frugal.

I need this trip ,ore than ever now. It is something happy to look forward to. Thank goodness I had Christmas all done :) I have one pair of Ugg boots I have to buy for my oldest and that is all...I am waiting to see if they go on sale.

Keep us in your thoughts...

Okay, I'm all caught up on reading. I wasn't on last night or this a.m. until now. Good Morning Chatty Snowbirds!! Morning. Anyone want to go outside for me? Local weather says it's 18 outside but feels like 7. Yes that's a single digit. The only time I like single digits is when I'm counting down to go on vacation, otherwise single digits are just pointless.

Well I'm off to layer myself up. Have a good day and stay warm!

Oh yeah, I'm at 50 days today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

**thinking happy, warm, sunny thoughts**
Yup, it was about 18 when I left for work today! BRRR. Congrats on 50 days!

Sending happy, sunny thoughts your way!!! We have an excess of them at the moment. It's 9.15pm and it's still 24C - that's 75F in your 'speak'. We're sleeping with the bare minimum and the ceiling fans on! If it stays any hotter overnight, I'm gonna have to turn on the airconditioning!
Thanks for sending the warm thoughts, but you're torturing me with the 75F talk! ;)
Good Morning Snowbirds!

Good Morning Snowbirds! :goodvibes It's a wee bit nipply outside here today in NW Ontario! Just got back from walking DD7 to school! Brrrrrrrrr! My thermometer says its -10C (14F) I keep telling myself that this is only the beginning! It is not uncommon for our part of the world to see -35C! Welcome to winter!

That is truly harsh. You win. I'm a native Minnesotan and there's something about below 0F that makes it nasty. Plus wind? That is why I must go south in the winter.

Thanks for your thoughts on the condo. I'm planning on an afternoon break every day, since we have a little one, so it is a big factor to be close to the parks. On the other hand, the extra space would be so nice. Sigh, I'm not getting anywhere with this.

I was so worried that we would be on Part IV by the time I jumped on today! Glad i made it before the move! :yay:

Good evening snowbirds! So I was checking into getting an autograph book early and I wanna custom make one but I'm not crafty. At all. Any ideas?
Let me start by saying - you may not think you are crafty but once you get on there and start looking around you'll get bit my the bug too! I have been making tons of stuff and I am still two months away :goodvibes
There is a lady named Natalie - she does the most AMAZING DISigns. She has invites to almost all the restaurants as well as other activities and Welcome Invites. She will personalize it for you or you can save her shared stuff and personalize it yourself.
Here is her link for shared stuff:
www.4shared.com/dir/5978989/a...s_DISigns.html

And this is her link to her invites thread:
www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1722700

She does lots of other stuff too!
[QUOTE=Monny2AE;28773931]I started looking over there too- I'm pretty crafty so I'm going to make some stuff I think. I've been bit by the creative bug![QUOTE]

There are a few people on the Creative DISign thread that do autograph books. You just print out the pages onto 4x6 cards (easy) and ask one of them to personalize the cover for you. You can take it to a staples to get it bound or get a cheap plastic photo album to put them in.

Here are a few links to some of the people that make them:
http://s345.photobucket.com/albums/p379/ljcollins_2008/
or
http://s226.photobucket.com/albums/d...nt/No%20Names/
Hope this helps :goodvibes
Wow lots of ideas...how will I ever find the time to get it all done! Thanks for all the great ideas- windows clings sound fun!!!! I better make my list of supplies needed and get my crafty tush in gear... only 64 days left on my countdown!

Well, I'm back at work today. I'm already ready for a nap. I woke up at 2am with a KILLER sinus headache. So, I'm battling that on top of "first day being active post-surgery." :faint: My coworkers are taking good care of me, though!!!

It's also about 30F out. Brrr. So first day back and it's below freezing all day? I should have stayed in bed all day! ;)

Absolutely!! :grouphug:

I chattered my poor husband's ear off this morning about DISNEY DISNEY DISNEY on the way to work. (Of course, it started with me discussing my surgery - I had one part of the recovery modified FROM 8 weeks to 2, and I pointed out that 8 weeks would have been the night we landed in Orlando and and and DISNEY AND FOOD AND PARKS AND CROWDS AND MARATHONS AND AND... apparently, staying in all weekend wasn't good for me! ;))

Anywho, now that I'm upright, I need to start thinking about the holidays and what to do for gifts! This is me right now---> I get an idea but then it leaves my poor brain! ;)

As for ideas - happens to me all the time. I say that my mind works like lightening - one brief flash & it's gone!

Oh, a couple other things. I will be packing swim suits, not just for the cruise, but for CBR's beautiful pool! :) Anyone notice the trend of which of us are planning to swim? Can you say Northerner?

I think we better set up our Part IV pretty quick! Wow! I have only been on here since October and am aiming to hit 400 posts this week! Yikes! :scared1:

Northerners...aka the Crazy Loons as I call you!! I'll bring you the hot chocolate as you freeze as you come out of the pool LOL!!!!! I'm not even bringing shorts on this trip....LOL

Count us in as crazy Northerners! Anything close to 70 will see us wet - I am determined to use the slide at least once during this trip! Can I get marshmallows in my hot chocolate (and maybe a little Kahlua)??

I'm hoping to get in the hot tub at least once. I'm going to be on vacation for crying out loud!

Shelly Where are you...what happens if we hit 250 without Mama Snowbird!

I loved the ending too- my dh just rolled his eyes. He doesn't get it.
My son does the same thing when he sees the castle at hte beginning of the movies. He says "There's Disney World! We're going to see Mickey soon!"

Today is Wall-E day at our house! We haven't seen it yet and my dh is stopping on his way home to get it for us. I'll have the kids bathed and the popcorn ready! My kids are behaving so well knowing that we won't watch it if not.

Sarah - good luck your first day back at work! Hope the sinus thing gets better. I had that two nights ago, only at 4 a.m.! It's better today. Lots of Sudafed and Advil helped!

Oh, yes. Sudafed and I are buddies from October through March... same with Advil. Conveniently, the meds I was given for surgery are ibuprofen 600 - heavy duty Advil! :)

But we're all still glad you're well enough to be vertical and at work!

As for ideas - happens to me all the time. I say that my mind works like lightening - one brief flash & it's gone!

Thanks! And, yeah, that's about right! If I don't have something to write it down IMMEDIATELY it is loooong goooone from my brain. ;)

While 70s/upper 60s will have me in short sleeves... I'm not much of a swimmer (shhhh). So it doesn't matter to me WHAT the weather is! ;)

My boss is planning a Disney trip for her winter break this year. When she hired me in January, we discovered we were taking the same cruise ship/same cruise, two months apart. She says on principal, she's NOT going to stay at POR so she can have a different vacation than me!! She's thinking about CBR, which I know many of you would approve of. (I think what sold her was the 4/3 deal and she's planning to go for 2 weeks. So very jealous.)

Morning Snowbirds,

I think kids love to embarasses adults...I was at the mall with my 3-yr-old cousin one day and girl walked by with a rainbow mohawk...my cousin pointed and yelled very loud that girl has a rainbow on her head...I had to try not to laugh outloud...I just kept pushing the stroller right passed them.

Being from Michigan we will be in the pool and at the water park come January...I will also be in capris with a sweatshirt on in the evening.

I know, I am now paranoid about the restaurants that are possibly not participating in the DDP in 2009! Right now neither Beaches & Cream or Big River Grill are on the list. I left one night open to go to one of those 2 places. . . If they end up not being on the DDP I will need to make another ADR. I want to know now!!! Why don't they know yet??? :furious: It's only like 6 weeks until 2009. Come on!!

Me too!! I go back and forth with which DP to get, what restaurants to eat at...I've finally decided that I don't want to be tied to reservations at certain times/places so I'm only considering the QSDP. Especially since we're not having park hoppers. We're trying to be leisurely. Only problem is, I keep thinking about doing character meals! Even though my kids say they don't care and will see characters on the cruise. Must...stop...thinking!

Have any of you had any issues with the Dining plan??

My dad did the deluxe as my Christmas gift from him, but I'm not quite sure I understand it all. I know I get 3 TS meals, but can I use them as Counter service??? He also paid via a gift card so I'm not sure how we would get our money back if I did decide not to go that route???

I just need to keep telling myself that for every 1 horror story there are many other dream stories and that I shouldn't let one thing get to me!!!

We have never had any issues with the DDP. What do you think could possibly go wrong? Yes, you can use TS credits for CS meals. We did that once.

I guess I'm mostly concerned about being charged too much for credits or having a credit mixup!! Although in most of the cases I was reading about on that thread it was very large groups...I'm just me!!

Just check the bottom of your receipt after every meal. And keep your receipts. After every meal it will tell you how many credits you have left in each category. If you notice something wrong then you can get it straightened out right away instead of at your next meal! :goodvibes

One thing I would suggest - don't tie your credit card to your KTTW card. I have heard of waitresses charging the meal to people's credit card rather than the DDP when you hand them your KTTW card. So ever since we have been getting the DDP we don't tie our CC to our card.

At least you want to take your man to Disney LOL!!! I'm not going with mine again unless we have kids and he has to pretend to at least like it for their sake LOL!!!!

Shawna...he's already mapping out the best places to hunt in TX....LOL!!! He was getting all excited showing me and I was like ummmm Honey would you like to hear about my Disney ADRs next...suffice to say he went on to email his dad about it LOL!

Ha!! I will hook him up with my uncle-the hunt king-he just returned from a hunt in Colorado. didn't go so well--wasted some $$$ He was very upset& to top it off- at some resteraunt between here and there, someone stole a $2500 hunting rifle w/scopes out of the back of his truck. Brand new, none the less!:scared1:
Growing up my mom would never let us leave the house without making our beds... she used to even fluff up her carpet with a broom when she walked out the door so there were no footprints in the carpet:lmao: .... now she tells my kids "why make your bed... your only getting back in it later.." and when I run around cleaning up at night before bed she tells me not to worry it will be there tomorrow.... boy has she mellowed..... the scary thing is I am so much like her about keeping the house clean... except that crazy carpet fluffing.... that was just nuts:rotfl2:
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Is she my mother's long lost sister? My mom makes this comment to me that makes me want to scream: She looks around at my house which is clean, clean, clean, but toys strowed (very minimally) and shakes her head and says in an almost sad voice"Well, I am glad YOU can relax and let your house go a little--you'll definitely live longer than me". WHAT IS THAT? Some people....:sad2:

Glo, we will be praying for you! Keep us posted and Yes, enjoy that vacation!!
