Three years ago we stayed at the Contemporary and relied on WDW transportation. We swore never again would we not get a rental car....the busses seemingly took forever...
Well, we just returned from the Dolphin and both agreed we DIDN'T need the rental car the transportation was so good! You can't win! It was convenient to have valet pull up with your car when you needed it, but this adds up every day on top of the price of the rental. If you are dining at other resorts and staying longer than the three hours, you are then paying for valet there, too. The bus transportation from the Dolphin to everywhere we went - the parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Downtown Disney- was so impressive. Once we hear whether golf provides a complimentary taxi, that will make up our minds for next spring. All in all, wish we just used a towncar service. and utilized their grocery stop.
Just to let you know..every trip is a learning experience.
On a more positive note, National and Emerald Aisle were awesome. There was nothing like walking across the street to a parking lot filled with cars, load your luggage in, stop at the booth with your paperwork and drive to your resort! Return trip was a little more congested in the parking lot, but doable.
