Good MOrning I am still the same as last week and the week before but my energy level is coming back slowly so I am looking for a loss next week.
Please make sure to weigh in today and PM your weight and what team you are on to dare2dream or email to brenda@kbelectric.biz. If using email please also include your DIS screen name.
* When reporting state your weight in pounds ie xxx pounds. You may use 1/10 of pounds if you would like ie xxx.x pounds.
Also don't forget to send in your COW points to Raenstoirm today also. There is no COW for this week. We get a break but I am sure she will be coming up with some more great challenges next week
Question of the Day
What time of the day fo you find it most difficult to stay on track? How do you overcome this?
Right after I get home from school I usually try to pick up my knitting or handiwork so that I can't eat.
pixiemagic30 Your on!!
Be back later Have a great day.

Well, I have stayed the same yet again, which I guess is good because that means I haven't gained anything. I struggle to stay on task in the evening after the kiddos go to bed and dh goes to work. I am there all by myself and I really try to keep myself busy, but man, that's difficult to do every single evening.

I down another pound this week. Only 22.4 to go until I reach goal.:cool1:
The hardest part of the day for me is before bed usually. My schedule has changed at work so I get home at about 3 pm and then eat lunch. Now that I'm eating lunch and dinner later I'm not as tempted to cheat.

It is not so much a time, but rather a place...home. I am perfect when i am at work or doing errands. Get me home and the kitchen just calls to me, day night, it doesn't matter!

My worst time of day is before bed too, I always want sweets too...... it's the worst. I love ice cream, so I'm letting myself have that and just skipping the other stuff...
Oh and I'm down 2 pounds!!! Wooo Hooo.... :)

My worst time of day is right when I get home from work and before dinner is ready. I'm usually very hungry and just want to grab something to tide me over.
Don't know my weight for this week, yet. WI is tomorrow morning. Hoping for a loss, no matter how small.

Down 1.4 lbs this week. One more week until our trip. I'm hoping for another loss before I go and then my goal is to NOT gain while on vacation. Planning on doing lots of walking at WDW and on the cruise.
Hope everyone is having a good week-end! :rolleyes1

Report in from the weekend.... I had a women's retreat this weekend, and all in all, I a very pleased with how I did. Friday night we had "cottage hopped" At each cottage we had different activities and different treats. There was popcorn in the movie cottage. Mini candy bars in the pamper yourselves cottages - paraffin treatments, foot baths, chair massager, one of ladies even did eyebrow waxing - and a coffee house complete with chocolate fountain. I only had 2 mini bars - of my favorite variety, and strawberries an ghram crackers in the chocolate fountain. I did put some flavored cream in my coffee.
Breakfast was fresh baked cinnamon rolls, breakfast breads, apple turnovers and homemade jams from a local bakery. I had 1/2 an apple turnover and I small slice of breakfast bread with a little bit of jam.
We also had a group of women who went running, walking on Saturday morning. I did 4 miles on trails in 47 minutes, and I found a new running partner.
Lunch was at a Dinner theater - don't ask, I was on the planning comittee for the retreat, and this was such a mess. When I have more time I will tell you about the performance itself. I split everything in half and only at 1/2 of everything. I even only ate 1/2 the cheese cake.
Dinner was a wonderful Thanksgiving type buffet. I got a small serving of everything, and I DID NOT go back for 2nds - This was a big deal for me. I did eat all of my brownie al amode- and it was so worth it.
I don;t think I will get back on the scale until next Friday, but I am really please with how I handled what normally would have been an out of control binge fest!
Sorry - gotta run - more later

I have had a terrible cold the last couple of weeks and it has taken all I had just to go to work! But I am feeling better now.
Friday's weigh in showed me gaining a pound, but I should be back on track this week. Sorry guys!
The toughest time of day for me is in the afternoon, especially if it is slow at work. We have a Starbucks on site and sometimes those Chai lattes are calling my name!

Good Monday Morning It is bright and sunny here in jersey but they are predicting rain. I can't stay on long it looks like they are getting ready to call a fire alarm
Question of the Day
What is your game plan for handling temptation over Halloween?
I devised this plan a few years ago. I only buy 1 bag of candy that I like and give those out first. I but lollypops that my son likes and if he doesn't eat them I take them to school to start my stash for goodies bags for my advanced placement kids when they take their AP exams in May

Halloween isn't all that bad for me. The teenagers sort of "prowl" after trick or treating is over, so I just leave a bowl full of ALL the remaining candy on my front step. By morning the bowl is empty. The girls at work do bring in their leftovers, but I can usually just stay out of the kitchen until they have been eaten.

:flower3: Hello!!
I am the newest member of your team, my name is Jen! I am from the Orlando area and just got done running my first official race, which was the Tower of Terror 13k. I finished a minute under my goal time which I was very proud of myself and now I'm going to start to train for the Princess half marathon in March. Hopefully I can do it!
About 4 years ago I weighed 240lbs at my most and I successfully brought my weight down to 140lbs. However sadly, do to graduating college and not having my lacrosse team to work my butt off, and moving down to Florida and taking a night shift job I've gained about 60 of those lbs back. Very discouraging but I've lost the weight before and I know I can do it again. I joined the BL challenge because I think it's going to be a little bit of the push that I need plus it will be nice to make friends with some people that have the same goals as me and we can push and encourage each other.
I have not come up with a game plan as of yet for Halloween but I think I'm going to have to as I just recently did the Halloween Party at MK and I have a giant bucket of candy on my dining room table. I thankfully haven't grabbed into it too much since I've gotten. I think I am probably just going to hand out all that candy to the trick or treaters and then I don't even have to go buy any! :woohoo:
Have a great day everyone!! It's great to be here!
Jen

I've put my oldest daughter in charge of buying the candy this year, and told her to but anything BUT chocolate. No little ones here to keep me stashed in candy for the next three weeks, so once the Trick or Treating is over, all candy should be gone.
Vacation is what is looming over me. I just need to keep repeating that I don't want to go back where I was before. I've worked too hard to give it all up now.
Just pulled out my "skinny" jeans from the back of the closet, and YIPPEE! , they fit. I wore these jeans about 4 years ago on a birthday trip to Vegas, and saved them, since I knew I would fit into them one day. I buttoned them without having to "suck it in" and looking like a sausage casing with the fat pushed up over the top. I'm gonne wear 'em to work on Friday!

Halloween is much easier for me since my son is a teenager and no longer trick or treats. Out deal used to be that mom got all the chocolate. My son doesn't like it! (Yeah - I am pretty sure he is not mine, lol!)
However, we did the MNSSHP last week and came home with two full bags of candy! UGH! I took it to work and all the young 20 somethings finished it off in a day.
We will not be home on Halloween so I did not buy any candy to hand out. So safe there! So I guess this crisis has been averted.
I am much more worried about Thanksgiving! That is where I really lose it! :upsidedow

That's great Leanne!!! I know the feeling and it's wonderful!! It's been eleven long years since I weighed what I weigh now.
I received a wonderful complement from someone I've known for 13 yrs yesterday. She couldn't believe how much I've changed since she last saw me a couple of months ago. It made my day.
I didn't buy chocolate for Halloween candy. It's the only kind I can't resist if it's anywhere in the house. Yes, I can track it down if it's in a 30 ft area of where I am. It's been a useful talent in the past. Now I have to create new talents...
Have a great day everyone!!!!!!!!!!

Good Tuesday Morning It is rainy and windy here in jersey. How is the weather in other parts of the country.
Welcome crunkyjens We are a very quiet thread so we all need to get a little bit more action here.
Question of the Day
What Disney character best embodies your new healthy lifestyle?
Maybe Pinocchio with his can do attitude.
HAve a great losing day. I should be able to get back later.

Windy, rainy, cold. Pretty much like December without all the pretty decorations to look at outside!
As for the Disney Character, probably Miss Price from Bedknobs and Broomsticks. She is a little hesitant, but with a little support she can accomplish her goals.

My character would have to be...... Simba. He was young, made some mistakes and even ran away... but, in the end, he rose to the occasion and became a leader by facing his enemy and his fears.

Question of the Day
What Disney character best embodies your new healthy lifestyle?
I would have to answer, "Jessica Rabbit".
My DH said I should answer "Winnie the Pooh", but I'm optimistic that I'll lose enough weight to look like Jessica.
Weather in Missouri today is sunny and cool. Going up to high 60's later this week and next. I want it to be COLD here, so that I'll feel better going to Florida where it's warmer. :cool2:

Question of the Day
What Disney character best embodies your new healthy lifestyle?
Thank you for the welcome donac, hopefully I can help get some good chatting go on around here!
I've thought about your question all afternoon and I think I've finally decided that my Disney character would have to be Dory. While she may get a little off track and forget where she is going or her goal, she means well and always manages to get there with some help from her friends. :hyper:
It's cooled off quite a bit here in Florida. When I got in my car to go to work this late afternoon it said it was only 61 degrees out! That is cold for us! Brrrr!!! I shut off my air conditioning today in my apartment and opened up my patio door and a couple windows and it felt great!
Hoping everyone is having a great evening!!

Jen - I think you are right - Dory is a good answer. Just keep swimming just keep swimming. Also I agree 61 is cold, but I am in for our first freeze overnight - it should be about 30 when I wake up tomorrow. I dislike winter - we still get cold here in TN, but we never get snow.
We are a pretty quiet team, but I will try to help out with some chat.
leanne - I sentence your DH to 45 consecutive cruises on It's a Small World for his poohbear comment!
I got Jillian Michaels Wii game today. DH has a cold and has highjacked the TV, but I did get to check it out for a few minutes tonight. My plan is to get on it first thing in the AM to get my day going.
I did 5 miles on the TM - mid morning. 1 mile walk, 3 mile run with some speedwork in it, and then 1 mile cool down walk. I feel really good about my running lately. Which is good, because I get "official" next week

Good morning everyone!!! Yes I am up at this ungodly hour of 3:45am but only by default because I work the night shift, 530pm to 530am...only 2 more hours and I can be snuggled up in my bed!
Once I wake up I plan to take my doggie to the dog park for some ball chasing then come back home and head out for a couple mile run. I've been just doing some quick walking stints since Saturday night since I ran in the TOT race so my legs have been sooooore! Then later on I think I'll do a little dance dance revolution with my boyfriend for some laughs.
I picked up a light pair of 3 lb weights and I hold onto those while I do DDR, you wouldn't believe the workout it truely gives! Although I doubt my downstairs neighbor appreciates all the pounding...I try to step quietly though!
TriMom - Yikes 30 degrees! Brrrr! I remember those days when I lived in Michigan. I've only been here in Florida since summer of '06 but my blood sure thinned out SUPER quick! Let me know how Jillian's game for the Wii goes. I've seen advertisements for it but I'd like to know if you think it's worth the purchase and what actually she has you do. ;)
Gosh I didn't intend for this post to be this long but I have a tendency to just type and type without realizing it!
Have a great day team!! Jen

Good Tuesday Morning Wow I have always been the first one on but with someone working the night shift I won't be.
It is cool here this morning only 43. I just got some wet snow flakes yesterday but nothing like the northern corner of jersey that got 8 - 12 inches. The place where my dh wants to take me next weekend with a group of teenagers probably got just as much.
Question of the Day
If you could dress up as anything for Halloween, what would it be?
Cruella It would be the only time I would wear fur and it would still have to be fake. Besides I love Cruella
Be back later lots of kids coming in this morning because I am giving tests.

Question of the Day
If you could dress up as anything for Halloween, what would it be?
I would dress up as any Princess. As a kid, we never had pretty costumes. We always wore my Dad's old flannel shirts and went as "bums". Not very glamorous. If they had "Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique" for adults, I would be there.

Good Thursday Morning Congrats to all Phillies fans (I have to say that since my ds2's school is right across the river from Philadelphia) It has become our adopted team for the next 4 years.
It is cool here this morning but supposed to warm up for the weekend. This weekend is pretty crazy for us. Dh's birthday is tomorrow. Ds2 is coming home tonight (ds1 is picking him up) We have an Eagle Ceremony to go to on Sat afternoon for a friend from the band and then we have a sweet 16 party to go to on Sat evening. That is the one that I am worried about. The Eagle Ceremony we told them that we would not be staying for dinner. The other party is at a deli/restaurant in Edison called Harold's The portion sizes are crazy. From one sandwich you could easily make 3 to 4 sandwiches. Last time we went My dh and I split a sandwich and had enough to bring home and make 2 more.
I still don't know what to get dh for his birthday. He is the type to buy whatever he wants for his camping equipment and that is his biggest love. Ds's are getting him movie tickets and maybe the 1st season of Lost. I will probably get him the 2nd season. He has never seen the show before but ds's were watching the 1st season and dh got into it but did not see everything. I haven't finished the socks I am making him. I am getting close but there is no way I am going to finish them tonight.
Question of the Day
What are some creative ways to get more movement into your day?
I make it a point to walk when I am on cafeteria duty. I have been known to put in a half a mile on a good day.
My question for the group is
What have you done today in terms of exercise? No matter how small
I got in 15 minutes of yoga this morning. Next?
TriMom
10-30-2008, 09:04 AM
Dona - Too bad about the socks, I knit too and it is so frustrating when you are close, but not close enough. - I was sewing sleeves into a snowman sweater on the way to our family Christmas dinner last year.
I know this is crazy, but I march when I cook. I stand there and walk in place. Also, I carry 1 grocery bag at a time from the car.
I woke up in the middle of the night last night with a terrible head cold. I had to go sleep on the couch to stop the post nasal drip. I will post more about exercise later, if the advil kicks in, and my head clears some. But it's not looking promising today.
I will share a story with you all. My father, who passed 6 year ago, ran marathons - lots of marathons. And I start training for my next full marathon next week. Yesterday, I read an article in this month's Runners World about a Father/Son team that ran last years NYC marathon together. Out of nowhere, I start bawling, I mean hysterical crying. So of course the only reasonable thing to do is go run. Yesterday's near perfect run was dedicated to Butch. The air was cold and crisp, the sun was out and there was not a cloud in the sky. The leaves were changing. I ran the greenway next to the river, and then into the Civil War Battlefield park. I ran, just for the joy of running. When all was said and done, I ran 7 miles in 1:15 which is a great pace for me.

Sorry I've been MIA, all. I've had a rough, emotional roller coaster week or so.
Exercise is under control, food is totally out of the ballpark.
In 1985 my mom had artery replacement from aorta thru femoral arteries due to blockages(age 63) died at 81, my oldest sister had the same surgery (& no pulse below the waist) at age 40 & has had to have them cleaned out twice in 20 years, my dad died of massive heart attack at 73, my
2nd oldest brother had quintuple bypass 2 yrs ago at 61 & my oldest brother had triple bypass this morning in Florida. He is out of surgery & doing ok.
So, I feel like a time bomb & can't stop the stress eating. All 5 of my siblings & my dad have/had type 2 diabetes. Developed exactly at age 48 (I'm was 48 in July) So, while my heart(no pun intended) is ready to change, my mind isn't & I'm really struggling with food.
Anyway......I'm at least still trying.
QOTD - movement. I move all the time...when taking care of laundry I fold & take care of one item at a time. Takes forever, but....also every time I have to go downstairs, I take an extra stair lap.
Haven't exercised yet today as I planned to swim, but DD stayed home & her BF was supposed to come over & work on a project. BF didn't show so DD is now sleeping. I'm planning to go vote today & I will walk to the early voting place....about 2 miles each way. Yesterday I took the Husky for our 5.5 mile walk & I swam laps for an hour on Tuesday.
Off to get things done...... I'm 100% certain my weight is up for tomorrow. Probably WAY up.....oh welll.........

As for so far this morning, I walked 1.5 miles before work with the dog. After work I have 30 minutes of cardio on the agenda and then 45 minutes with my trainer.

Julie-Sorry about all the stress in your life. It really does make it hard to focus on yourself, but keep perservering. You are your top priority and no one will take better care of you than you.
TriMom-I so envy anyone that can run, and it was a very touching story about your father. I lost my own father 5 years ago, and every once in a while I'll have those moments where I really miss him.
My running consists of 2 minute bursts on the treadmill, alternating with walking. I'm not so quite out of breath any more, so I guess I'm making progress.
My activity today was walking/running 1.25 mile on the treadmill, and free weights. It's not a lot, but it's way more than I ever used to do.
Very stressful day at work and I fought the urge to get a candy bar out of the vending machine. I opted for a bag of 100 calorie snacks instead. Seemed to take the edge off, and with a lot less damage.
1/2 day of work tomorrow, and then a mani-pedi in preparation for my trip. Haircut and color on Saturday, and then I'll be all ready to go to Forida on Sunday. Can't wait!
Keep up the great work everybody!
