Getting to Rental Car after Cruise

We're going to rent a car after our Wonder Cruise in Nov to drive south to visit family. We are currently checking rates and the cheapest is National, so far. I assume I'd have to take a cab there, are there cabs waiting at the dock? Also, if we choose Avis, will there be a shuttle there, or will we have to take a cab? Has anyone done this, and can provide any advice? THANK!!!

Avis has a free shuttle, I'm not sure about National. There are cabs at the port. :)

Just in case you do end up going with National, they don't have a shuttle but will reimburse your cab fare. HOWEVER, we neglected to ask them exactly how much they would reimburse us...we just got in the first van we saw, told the driver we needed to go to National, and he charged us about twice as much as they were willing to reimburse us.

I'm sure we could have gotten there for less money, but we just didn't negotiate or check other cabs' prices. Sooooo, just make sure you check with National to understand how much they'll pay you back for your cab. (Sorry I can't remember how much it was!)
