Disclaimer: If you are like me, you love, love, love reading trip reports. They can become a primary source of entertainment, an escape from your daily life, a laugh out loud experience that makes others shake their heads in bemusement :confused3 because they don’t get the joke. And, if, like me, you have some favorite writers of these reports like…oh…ZZUB, Tarzan’sKat, Me(l), marivaid, LaLa, Campbellscott, just to name a few, you have some high expectations about what to expect from a trip report. I can’t claim to be anywhere near the league of these famous Dis writers. My friends tell me I am funny, but I think my humor comes from tone of voice and facial expressions, which none of you can see. (And that’s a good thing since I am typing this while sitting on my couch in my pj’s and I just spilled Diet Coke all down the front of me. What a waste of good Diet Coke.) Anyway, this may turn out to be a boring, by the numbers report. However, if you come along for the ride, I HOPE that I can make you laugh a bit and give you a brief escape into the Wonderful World of Disney.

Introductions:
Well, ME naturally. I’m 37 although I behave like I’m 12 at Disney. I have a serious addiction to all things Disney and princess. princess: I drove everyone around me completely insane with a countdown to my trip, sharing details, and generally bubbling over with Disney enthusiasm.

Guest Starring Rob. A good friend of mine who is my other half when it comes to food, Diet Coke, and Disney. No, we aren’t involved in any way (to the grave disappointment of my mother who would love nothing more than to plan a wedding.) We’re just friends. I have known him since he was 15 (and I was, umm, can I just say older?). He joined me for the first 2 days and the last day of this vacation. Next year, we are hoping to spend the entire week in the parks together. Or do a Disney cruise. Or both. You never know.

Also starring the aunt and uncle. They will only be referred to as the aunt and uncle (names have been left off to protect the innocent. Rob’s not innocent so I can name him.) They came to see me for the last day and a half of the vacation. The aunt loves rides but the uncle – not so much with the speed, spinning, drops, and general ride craziness. Since I will ride almost anything and everything, this was her last chance to do the big rides before they retire and move out of Florida. (Don’t people retire TO Florida?)

And featuring the boys, my former production manager and his partner. They also get to be in the Disboard protection program. They came up because we all used to go to Disney together once a month (or more) when I lived down there.

Before I left, I set some goals for myself – things to do and food to eat. Yep, food played a big role in my Disney vacay. Not the “big” food – I don’t do ADR’s or eat at the expensive places. Nope, I was focused on snacks, treats, and junk in general. So, just to make everyone hungry, here is a list of the things I was determined to eat while there.

Mini corndogs from Caseys
Popcorn
Dole Whip
Cinnamon rolls at Main Street Bakery
A burger from Cosmic Rays
Nachos in Mexico
“Fake” nachos at Fantasmic
Big Pretzel with Cheese
Tollhouse cookie ice cream sandwich
Pizza
Anything from Flame Tree
Ice cream from “Scoops” in DHS

Yep, quite the list. Good thing you walk a lot at Disney, right? There were also 1 thing I really wanted to do. Sure, I wanted to do the rides, and parades, and shows, but I’ve never done the character thing. Our group was usually very commando at the parks – get in, ride it, move on. So, this time I intended to wait in lines and have pictures taken with EVERYONE!

Did I eat everything on my list? Did I meet the characters? Did I kill anyone in my party or in the park? (I’m also known for my temper.) Did I find my “Disney mellow” and relax? I guess you will have to stay tuned for the rest of this report to find out.

First and only! Welcome. Does it feel weird to read a report about a trip that happened at the same time you were there? I know when I'm reading your report, I have strong feelings of deja vu.

HeHeHe!!! It is a little wierd.... but in a totally cool way!!

It will definately let us know if we were in the "right park" or the "crowded park" on whatever day, since it looks like we were in different directions on most days!!!

Disney Eve was pretty boring in my house. I was completely packed and ready to go by 4:00pm. And boredom set in. I watched TV,:happytv: I Dised,:surfweb: I contemplated going to bed about 600 times between 4:00pm and 10:00pm. Finally, it was time to sleep. I was awake 2 hours before my alarm was set to go off. I managed to stay in bed until 6:15am and then leaped out of bed singing to myself “Oh oh my Disney vacation is a comin’ down the track.” Yep, to the tune of Wells Fargo Wagon from Music Man. I was ready in record time and then had to wait for my taxi. It was scheduled to show up at 7:15am. By 7:05 I couldn’t wait anymore and headed out with my suitcases. Oh look! My first bit of Disney magic – the cab was early too!

Ok, not to sound like a hick here, but I’ve never taken a cab by myself before. I was a bit apprehensive, but the cab driver was very friendly. I couldn’t completely place his accent but his last name sounded Russian. So, my handsome Russian cab driver and I are off to the airport early. He drove like a maniac. I’m glanced at the speedometer only once during the trip to discover he was doing 80 in a 50. :scared1: Umm…I guess I don’t have to worry about being late. He completely made up for it though when it came time to settle up. The fare clearly read $38.25 BEFORE the $2.00 gas charge and the $3.00 airport fee. However, he only charged me $35.00. :cool1:

Check in and security were a breeze. My Airtran flight was great. I always fly business class. I like the extra room for my very large behind. Woo hoo! We even got to MCO early! And now I hit the first Disney line. The line for Magical Express was almost to the other end of the terminal. Turns out a convention was coming in and using ME to get to Coronado Springs. The line to check in moved fairly quickly and then off to the red carpet to await my pumpkin coach or bus or whatever.

This is when I run into my first “character” of the trip. I’ll just call her Ms. Entitled. Ms. E didn’t feel she should have to stand in line because “my in-laws are DVC owners and are waiting for me.” Umm… ma’am, everyone in your line belongs to the DVC. A few minutes later, she starts making phone calls. At one point, she informs her child to locate the dad because she had been standing in this line for 2 and a half hours and someone needed to come get her now. Again, I hate to argue, but you got in line about 10 minutes after me and I’ve only been waiting about 50 minutes.

The bus pulls up and of course, I am on the same bus as Ms. E. But hey, we’re off to the World so I don’t care! It only seems like a few minutes until I see this

And I say Let the Magic Begin.

UP next - What do I eat for my first taste of Disney? Should we REALLY do pm EMH at Magic Kingdom and then am EMH at Magic Animals?

Under the first picture in your album you'll see a small link "link code options". Click it and select to have the IMG code displayed. When you're ready to insert a picture, just copy the IMG code and paste it into your report. You don't even need to use the "insert image" option provided by this board. Good luck!

Very nice first installment:woohoo:

I was cracking up at the whole Mrs Entitlement thing:lmao: Don't you just LOVE people like that!!

Looking forward to seeing your pics, once you figure them out. When i first started posting pics, i didn't realize that my link started with http:// when i copied it.... so when i used the little add photo button, the http:// was already there, so it doubled it and messed up the whole thing!! Now I just backspace and blank out the window, then paste my link. haven't had a problem since, but I use smugmug, not photobucket.... i don't know if the links are set up the same:confused3

Once through the lovely front gates, it was quick service to Port Orleans – French Quarter. What a gorgeous hotel! http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0005.jpg I hadn’t stayed here before, but I felt like I had found a great new home walking into the lobby. Check in was a breeze, although I’m not sure the front desk person appreciated the banter between Rob and I about whether he could have charging privileges. :confused3 We only made a quick trip to the room to drop off my carry-on and Rob took a quick (I mean 1 minute) power nap.http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0006.jpg

The only place to start a Disney vacation, in my opinion, is at the Magic Kingdom. And, luckily for us, evening extra magic hours for tonight! That means, even though we weren’t getting there until 4:00pm, we basically have a full day in the park. Rob kept my eyes covered as we came around the corner to get a view of the castle. He says it was to keep me from crying too early. (Just a side note, I am not, by nature, a person who cries a lot. However, Disney reduces me to tears on a regular basis. Tears of joy can appear at any moment for any reason. I embrace it. It means I am at the right place for my vacation.) I say he just wanted to see the castle first. We quickly found a photopass person to take our picture http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_00091.jpg and then, off to Casey’s for dinner! Yep, my first taste of Disney food was mini-corn dogs, fries, and of course, a diet coke! Yummmm. Oh, sorry. No food porn. I didn't take a single picture of food. Rob doesn't come to the Dis much and I think that might have freaked him out.

After stuffing our faces, it was time to get our ride on. We followed our normal pattern and headed into Tomorrowland. It was more crowded than I had anticipated, but not unreasonable. First up, the laugh factory. A great way to warm up to Disney and remember what it’s like to hear all those kids laugh. We stopped by Buzz and Space Mountain but the lines were too long. We’ll come back during EMH. We continued on to Fantasyland where we found more lines. But one of our favorites, Mickey’s Philharmagic, had no wait! Woo hoo! I love that “attraction.” There was a kid next to us who reached for everything. :3dglasses That just touches my heart.

Haunted Mansion came next. Rob and I could ride that forever! Pirates came next and it was almost a walk-on. A quick glance at the time confirmed it was time to get a spot for Spectro and Wishes. But what would Spectro be without a Dole Whip? Oh, soooo good. http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0012.jpg Now, I ordered the root beer float Dole Whip. The lovely CM, who we had a nice chat with, prepared a Pineapple Dole Whip. Is that a problem? Nope. Delicious is delicious. Pineapple, root beer, what do I care? It’s a Dole Whip in the Magic Kingdom while watching Spectromagic and the pretty castle. http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0015.jpg Life doesn’t get better. Wishes followed Spectro and I had tears streaming down my face. Rob turned to me after it was over and said “You are a hot mess right now.” Too be clear, that is not the only time during this vacation I would hear those words from him.

We decided to eat again while we waited for people to get out of “our” park. (I know, we've eaten half of the MK already. But Disney makes people hungry). We shared a double cheeseburger at Cosmic Rays. Quality control wasn’t great at old Rays that night. Right after we order, a very nice man brought his burger back because, although he had ordered a double cheeseburger, there was no cheese to be seen anywhere. Rob and I laughed about this until we sat down. That’s when we noticed our double cheeseburger had 3 patties. Bonus!!!! Rob ended up with a double cheeseburger (and about 3 pounds of mushrooms) all to himself while I ate the rest.

Extra Magic Hours started and I wondered how it would be without the wristbands. I’ll have to say, it was pretty hit and miss. Some CM’s really examine the KTTW cards while some barely spare it a glance. Oh well. It didn’t seem to impact a lot. Splash, Big Thunder, Space Mountain, and Buzz Lightyear were basically walk ons. We did it all and then decided it was time to head back to the resort. Our goal was to make early extra magic hours at Animal Kingdom the next morning. Of course, by the time we got back to the resort and got ready for bed, it was 2:00am. The last question Rob managed to ask was “What time does Magic Animals start tomorrow?” Umm…Magic Animals? I LOVE it! And of course, that is what Animal Kingdom will be called in my world from now on.

Up next: Did we make am magic hours at Magic Animals?

PS - Sorry about the picture size. I tried for 2 hours to make them smaller. Seriously, this cold medicine is messing with my brain functions.

Right before the alarm was set to go off at 6:45am, I made the executive decision to sleep a little longer. I had showered the night before, so I knew it wouldn’t take us too long to get ready and get out of the room. About 7:20, I got up to get ready. Now, this is how all our mornings went while Rob was with me. Alarm goes off, I get up, Rob sleeps. I shower, dry my hair, brush teeth, put makeup on, get dressed – Rob sleeps. I touch his shoulder and say “Rob, wakey wakey eggs and bakey.” Rob rolls over, blinks at me, mumbles something under his breath, and tries to go back to sleep. I resort to bouncing on the bed :yay: until he can form a complete sentence. Then, while he showers (which, as a boy he can do really fast), I run to the food court to get us breakfast. Fed, dressed, and with Diet Coke or coffee running though our blood, we are ready to head out. Ok, it’s now 8:00 so we have missed the start of EMH, but it’s all good.

We get to Magic Animals and head for the safari.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0021.jpg
Every other time we have done this in the past, it has been in the afternoon when the animals are sleepy. We were very hopeful that going in the morning would let us see more active animals. While we were in line, we ran into the “I may be on vacation but I don’t like anything” family. These people were NOT in the Disney vacation frame of mind. Nothing was right. The lines were too long, the souvenirs were stupid, the CM’s were dumb, etc, etc. As soon as we got to the point where the lines split, Rob and I waited to see which way the family went and we went the other way. We lucked into being behind a multi-generational group of women who were on a “Girls gone wild at Disney” trip. They were a hoot!

The safari was great. We saw more animals than ever before and they were all up and moving around.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0028.jpg
I tried to get some pictures but I am camera impaired so this is the only decent shot I got. Rob tried to help, the nice CM driving the truck tried to help, I gave up. At the end, the CM asked if I had any success. Nope. But no big deal. My Disney mellow has hit and nothing can go wrong in my world! We decided to head over to the Festival of the Lion King – one of our favorite shows. On the way, we stopped to get a Diet Coke and I spotted Baloo and King Louie. Now, one of my goals for this trip was character pictures. Despite many, many visits, I didn’t have a single photo with a character. Luckily, Rob ALWAYS has a Disney mellow on so we headed over to get in line. Right before this picture was taken, I felt King Louie’s hand touch my behind. Now, I figured it was just an accident but as we were walking away, Rob says “Did King Louie just cop a feel?” Well, the monkey king loves me anyway.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0029.jpg

Festival of the Lion King was terrific as always. I found out that a friend of a friend is one of the stage managers for the show. I’d hoped to catch up with her and maybe get a VIP peek backstage but she wasn’t calling the show that morning. I started crying the second the music started and basically cried through the whole thing. As we were standing up to leave, Rob turns to me and says "You are a hot mess right now." Yep, that's the second time I've heard this and it's only day 2. I don't care, this is one amazing show and I could see it over and over. My future husband, one of the tumble monkeys, didn’t see me this time but that’s ok.

Rob and I decided to head over to Everest but on the way, we passed Flights of Wonder which was going to start in 10 minutes. I have never seen the show before. Those birds rock! Funny, informative, this show has it all. Oh, and the birds are gorgeous. We then headed over to Everest but fast passes were for 3:30-4:30 and the standby line was about 60 minutes. We passed and headed out to find lunch. I mentioned Flame Tree BBQ and thought Rob was going to levitate. I guess we’re having some BBQ for lunch. Neither of us had ever eaten there but as soon as we could smell it, we knew we had made the right choice. We both got the pulled beef sandwich. I had some fries and Rob got a corn muffin. Oh, and of course Diet Cokes all around. I truly don’t know how to describe the deliciousness that is Flame Tree except to say I may be drooling right now thinking about it!

After lunch, we did a quick check of time/energy level/future plans. It was close to 1:00 and we were dragging. Plus, we knew we had MNSSHP that night. It was time to head back to the hotel for a nap, dinner, and prep for the party. On our way out, we ran into Pluto so I had to get another picture.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0030.jpg

Up next: Will rain keep us away from MNSSHP?

Stacybaeasm
10-25-2008, 02:31 PM
Rob and I had a very refreshing rest back at POFQ. While he was sleeping, I noticed that it started to pour rain. Oh oh! I hope it doesn’t affect MNSSHP. We decided to grab dinner at the food court to save time at the party. There were so many wonderful choices. I ended up with the Cheese steak sandwich which was delicious! Rob got a pizza. He said it was different than the park pizzas and left it at that. We then quickly got into costume and ran off to the bus stop.

It rained most of the way to the park and I was a bit worried. Most of my costume was a custom made headpiece for Shere Khan and I did not want it to get wet. Was that going to stop us from going? Not a chance, we just had to dodge rain drops. We got to the park about 5:30 and got our picture taken by the partner’s statue.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0031.jpg
We then decided to hit Fantasyland since we hadn’t really done that on Sunday night. Right as we got to Snow White, it started pouring, so we jumped on the ride. I still say this ride is way too scary for kids (and my niece reminds me that it was the first ride I ever took her on every time she wants a present from Disney!) The rain had let up when we got off so we headed to Pooh – again, just in time for a downpour. I love, love, love bouncing with Tigger. We started for Peter Pan when the skies opened up again. Ok, I’m done playing. Time to buy a poncho. Bad plan for me. You see, it didn’t fit over my headpiece. So, to the amusement of many other people who were avoiding the rain in the little gift shop by Snow White, I proceeded to unpin and remove Shere Khan, put the poncho on, and repin Shere Khan on my head. As soon as we stepped out to head to Peter Pan, it stopped raining. I reversed and repeated the entire process while in line for Peter Pan.

When we emerged from Neverland, the party was in full swing and it was done raining! We stopped by Cinderella’s coach for some photos first,
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0034.jpg
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0035.jpg
and then off to the Haunted Mansion. I loved the special makeup on the CM’s. Rob just kept repeating “Don’t make direct eye contact. Keep moving.” We stopped for the photo op by the hearse on our way out. It was a great shot and one of the photo pass pictures I ended up buying at the end of my trip. We then headed over to Thunder Mountain as the first parade was starting. All my research on the Dis before leaving said go to the second parade, so that was the plan. It was so hard not to sneak a peak at the parade as it went by, but we wanted to be surprised later. BTMR was a walk-on and so much fun!

It was now time to stroll over to the hub for Hallowishes. We loved looking at all the special lighting and effects throughout the park. We found a great seat for Hallowishes and had time to get a snack. Rob ran off to the funnel cake place in Liberty square while I held our spot. He came back with a funnel cake and a Mickey waffle for us to split. I LOVED the fireworks. I know some have said that weren’t super impressed, but I LOVED them (did I mention that?). I especially loved the surround of the fireworks at the end.

Rob and I then moved closer to the castle for the Villains Mix and Mingle. My friend David was performing! I was so excited because I didn’t think I would get to see him this trip. We quickly got in line for a photo op with Maleficent, one of Rob’s new girlfriends (in addition to Cruella, Aurora, and the dancers in the show).
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0046.jpg
(Don’t tell his real girlfriend Christine though.) We also had time to get a photo with the Evil Queen from Snow White for me!
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0048.jpg
We were going to try to get Cruella as well, but it was time for the 2nd parade. We found a spot to stand and got ready to cheer. Just then, some of the dancers from the show came out for a second and I got to say hi to David. I promised to see the next Villain’s show as well so I could cheer for him.

The parade was fantastic. I couldn’t believe how much energy they had. I loved the grave diggers with their shovel dance. I couldn’t believe how much those spade sparked when dragged on the ground. I thought that even if nothing else happened, we had certainly gotten our money’s worth for this event. We saw the next Villains show as promised. Some people showed up at the last minute, pushed their way through the crowd seated on the ground, and then stood right in front of the stage. Never a shy person, I said very loudly “Could you please sit down? Down in front please!” There was also a family who had pushed directly in front of Rob and I right before the show. They were sitting, so no problem, but they had several huge balloons that they just let float around. I leaned forward and asked them to please pull them down. I got a dirty look from the mother but I just kept politely repeating the request until she had no choice. David blew me a kiss from the stage and Rob got his picture with Cruella.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0050.jpg
Cruella was a hoot! She came up to me after the picture with Rob and started petting my head. Always ready to play along, I fake groweled and told her she couldn't have my pelt. She said she would NEVER skin a fellow villain, but my coat sure was pretty!:rotfl:

Ok, it was just about time for the party to end and we had down about all we wanted to do.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0051.jpg
We stopped in the pin store so I could get the MNSSHP pin and then headed to the bus stop to go home. We were on the bus before we realized we had never gotten around to trick or treating. Oh well, I don’t really need candy anyway. As we got to the hotel, we realized it was Rob’s last night until the end of the week. I think he was ready to return to work so he could get some rest.

Yes. We were there on Monday, Oct. 13. We managed to stay dry though. I still say, as soon as I bought that poncho, it stopped raining. So, to all party goers on Oct. 13 - you're welcome. It was the best money I spent the entire vacation!:rotfl: I"m glad you still managed to have a good time.

I'm interested in reading this, as well. Could you have possibly had anymore fun then you've already had? You know what I miss? You. You and WDW. Can you come back? I'm moving to Celebration. Why is this Banana dancing?

Today was the start of the solo portion of my trip. Rob had to go back to work for the rest of the week. I decided to sleep in a little bit because 2 late nights and 1 early morning make for a very tired Stacy. And a tired Stacy generally equals a cranky Stacy and there is no crankiness allowed at Disney! So, we got up about 8:45 and headed down to the food court for a good breakfast before Rob took off. Rob was a hungry boy and got the big breakfast which had everything – eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, a biscuit, and a Mickey head waffle. I decided that maybe I wasn’t THAT hungry and got an amazing plate of biscuits and gravy. Delicious!!! After breakfast, we split up. Rob went back to shower and then drive home; I headed straight for Hollywood Studios.

DHS is my second favorite park at the world and I intended to have a great time. It was about 10:15 by the time I got to the gates so I headed straight for Toy Story Mania (after a stop for a photo op of course!)
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_00571.jpg
The wait time was posted at 50 minutes and the fast pass return time was 5:15. The park closed at 6:00 today. Why, I don’t know but I was super sad to be on my 2nd full day and still not get to see Fantasmic. Anyway, I decided to wait in line. The themeing inside the ride is amazing. I saw toys that took me way back to early childhood – I won’t blow the surprise if you haven’t been there yet, but wow. However, as we approached the hour mark and I still wasn’t on the ride, the themeing became less important. Finally, an hour and 10 minutes later, I was in a vehicle with 3D glasses in place. :3dglasses I had a great time! Was it worth the hour and 10 minutes, maybe not. But once the hoopla dies down, this will become one of my favorites at DHS.

Ok, time for a Diet Coke break. I also need to make some decisions on the rest of my day. I see that Mickey is doing meet and greets at the Magic of Disney animation. I love this attraction, so I head on over. I never saw Mulan, but Mushu cracks me up every time. I then walk right past the offices and speed walked my way to Mickey’s line. Oh, and bonus – its Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey! It was this line that I ran into one of the “hot topic” behaviors from the Dis – one parent stands in line and the other parent (and the kids) enjoy running around, playing with the interactive stuff, and then, when it’s time, they all push into line. You know what, it didn’t bother me so much here. The que was pretty small and I think there would have been a lot more crying, cranky kids if they had to wait. Plus, I don’t really think it affected my wait time too much. Finally, it was my turn. I was a bit worried because this was the first time I did a character meet by myself. Did I seem like a freak? Would people point and laugh? What do I care? I will never see these people again and I want a picture with Mickey. Poor Mickey. I don’t think he expected a 37 year old to cry when she hugged him. I whispered to him “I’ve been waiting 37 years for this hug.” And didn’t he kiss my hand and drop to one knee! I loved it. The photopass people and Mickey were amazing. I can’t thank them enough – a sentiment that continued throughout my solo trip.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0058.jpg

I stopped at the Great Movie ride on my way to the other side of the park. It was a walk-on. Oh, and I finally got to do the Cowboy pass off. I always get the Mobster one. In fact, I was in the dark about the Cowboy exchange until just recently. I don’t know if it was because it was the first time I had seen it or if it was because of the explosion, but I liked it a lot more than the Mobster one. I know some people don’t like this ride, but I always enjoy it. I just wish they would time the Aliens thing a bit better. I don’t think it ever really gets anyone. And what’s with the 2nd one being so completely visible?

Ok, enough of the mushy, feel-good stuff. It’s time to get my ride on. I head for the 2 biggies – Tower of Terror and Rockin’ Rollercoaster. On my way over, I pass the dining reservation kiosk. Now, I have always wanted to try 50’s Prime Time Café, but I never make ADR’s. I stopped to see if it was possible to squeeze in. Table for 1 for lunch? Sure, no problem AND I had my choice of about 8 times. I set the reservation for 2:35 and headed off to TOT. The wait time said 10 minutes, which, for this ride, is nothing so I head right up. I literally walked into the library and there were only about 20 people in it. In the boiler room, I was probably in the middle of the pack. Everyone in front of me went right when the lines divided so I headed left (which I always do thanks to Rob’s good advice.) I figured the people behind me would follow me but no one did. I got to the front and there were 2 CM’s there and NO PEOPLE! They ask how many. Ummm…just me. Do you want an elevator to yourself? WHAT? Are you kidding me? Yes, Yes, Yes. So, I had the entire thing to myself, which I have to admit, was a bit creepy. No one screaming but me. The picture was even creepier – all those empty seats. I wish I had bought the picture or taken a picture of the picture but I didn’t even think of it.

I still had time before my ADR so I headed to Rockin’ Rollercoaster. The wait time said 50 minutes but there didn’t appear to be anyone in the single rider’s line so I headed in. I got all the way up to the building before there was someone in front of me. Still, I was seated in a limo with shoulder harness in place in about 15 minutes. Gotta love single rider lines! I took my time walking over to 50’s Prime Time. I usually love to browse the shops on Sunset but one whole side was closed? What’s up with that? I have money I want to spend. I arrived at 50’s Prime Time a few minutes early and was seated pretty quickly. Cousin Louise was my server. She was great – she stayed in theme but was good at reading the situation. She saw I was alone so she wasn’t as strict with me as she was with the big family next to me. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and a Diet Cherry Coke. I hadn’t planned to order dessert until the family of 1000’s (ok, maybe 8 or 10) all ordered dessert. Now that I had seen them in person, I couldn’t pass it up. Normally, I am a chocoholic but the apple cobbler with ice cream was SCREAMING my name, so I listened. Oh goodness, it was amazing!

A quick glance at the time showed me I had time to get to Beauty and the Beast. I love this show and I had heard the rumors that Disney was thinking of closing it. I really wanted to see it just in case. There was a new Belle and a new Gaston, neither of which I thought were great singers. The costumes looked like they had just been refurbished though – they were all shiny and pretty! After the show, it was about 5:15. With the park closing at 6:00, I decided maybe it was time to head back to the resort.

Once in the room, I realized I wasn’t ready to stop for the night but I didn’t feel like a park either. I grabbed a bottle of water and changed my shoes and decided to get a boat to DTD. On the way to the boat, I took some quick pictures around the resort. This place is truly beautiful.

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0063.jpg
The boat trip was great and it got me to DTD pretty quickly. I started shopping for presents for people. It didn’t take me long to find what I wanted and I discovered I just didn’t feel like wandering and looking. I happened to be next to Earl of Sandwich and I had heard wonderful things about this place from the uncle. It was one of his favorite places to eat at DTD. I grabbed a club sandwich and decided to head back to the hotel. Everything just felt crowded to me and that’s usually a sign that I need some alone time. I caught the boat and headed back, grabbed a refill in my mug and some snacks for later, and headed to my room to put my pj’s on and make an early night out of it. After all, there was a lot more Disney to be conquered tomorrow!

Epcot has always been my least favorite park in all WDW. :snooty: I’m not sure why – maybe it’s because on my very first visit, someone made us stand in line for 90 minutes for Soarin’ so that’s all we saw of Epcot (Hi Rob!:wave2: ) Maybe it’s because my second visit was during the end of August when it’s about a billion degrees out with a bazillion percent humidity. Or maybe it’s because I just don’t “get” Epcot. No matter, I was determined to visit the park on my own and see if I could find something to love. Hey, at least it was Food and Wine Festival. I was looking forward to desserts and maybe some adult beverages.

Before I could get to Epcot, I had to brave the bus stop. It was an ugly morning at Bus Stop at POFQ on Wednesday. It seems everyone and their cat was headed to Typhoon Lagoon for the day and the line was pretty cut-throat. Part of the problem was that some people didn’t realize that there WAS a line to get on the bus. When the bus pulled up, people who had been sitting on benches got up and headed toward the bus doors. People started yelling “There’s a line. Hey, no budging.” And a couple of things not fit to print on the Dis. Ok, they packed the bus and still there were over 30 people waiting for the next bus. Lovely. Fortunately for me, the next bus to pull up was for Epcot and there were only 5 of us waiting. I moved to get on the bus and the Typhoon rowdies started yelling “Hey, there’s a line.” The other 4 people (a lovely family of husband, wife, and 2 kids) looked intimidated and started for the back of the line. I just turned to the people yelling and said “What does the side of the bus say? Epcot right? You are going to Typhoon Lagoon which is NOT this bus. Please stop yelling and have a magical day.” :wizard: I then asked the family to get on the bus in front of me. Hey people – it’s a vacation. Chill out!

Ok, Epcot. I got the requisite picture with the golf ball in the background and headed in. Spaceship Earth was finally open so I decided to give it a try. I thought they did a great job with the scenes and the little movie of the future was fun. I then headed for a place to accomplish one of my key goals – character pictures. Who knew about the Character Spot? I sure didn’t. The line was fairly long but there was a really nice woman and daughter in front of and we spent the time chatting. I hit the jackpot for character pictures here – Mickey,
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0067.jpg
Minnie,
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0069.jpg
Pluto,
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0068.jpg
Donald,
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0070.jpg
and Goofy.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0071.jpg
Then, as I was exiting, a CM said “We have a bonus character today. Cinderella is waiting right over here.” Woo hoo! Of course, there was no photo pass person for her but the very nice woman and daughter were right there so they took my picture with Cinderella and I took theirs so they could both be in the picture.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0072.jpg

A quick look at my watch showed it was noon. I knew Belle (my favorite ever!) appeared in France starting at 12:45. I had time to make my way slowly to France, exploring as I went. I checked out a few Food and Wine booths on my way to Canada, the UK, and France. Ok, if I wanted to sample things, I was clearly going to go broke. I did contemplate a frozen pina colada for a long time but I decided that $6.50 for a tiny punch cup was sick and wrong and I wasn’t going to play that game. I continued exploring until I got to France and my meeting with Belle. I was excited beyond belief. I think the kids in line behind me were a little freaked at the 37 year old waiting for the princess, but I just didn’t care. I got a great photo and Belle and I had a wonderful conversation about books.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0076.jpg

Hunger hit. Hmmm…what to eat? Nachos in Mexico sounded perfect. And they were. But, even with advanced medicine to coat the stomach, I could feel my stomach lining dying a slow and tragic death (I’m not great with really spicy food.) You know what helps that problem – a Mickey Head Ice Cream Bar!!!! And now I’m full. And bored. As pitiful as it may sound, I was done with Epcot. Time to head back for a nap.

Up next: What should I do with the rest of my afternoon and evening? Is it finally time to see Fantasmic?

I returned to the room for a quick rest and change of shoes. I don’t know if I mentioned this earlier, but I was trying something new this trip – 2 pair of shoes. I had my trusty very well-broken in sneakers with fresh inserts and my “oh my gosh I can’t believe I’m actually wearing these ugly things that I always made fun of” crocs. And while crocs are ugly and people who wear them SHOULD be made fun of, they are sooooo comfortable and they actually kept me up and moving around. My trick was to wear one pair of shoes in the morning and then switch out to the other shoes after each day's rest. Ok, now that I have gotten completely off track, after my rest I was headed back to DHS to see Lights, Action, Motorcars and Fantasmic!!!! Just as I was leaving the room, I noticed the message light on my phone was blinking. I quickly checked it and had a message that there was a package for me at the gift shop. Right, the pictures I bought yesterday at Disney Animation. Great, I’ll pick them up tonight when I get back or tomorrow morning.

The bus to DHS was quick. Once through the gates I headed right for the stadium. As I was going down the Streets of America, I smelled that delicious smell – you know the one – the warm glazed nuts. Oh, I totally have time to stop for some of them. Off to the show with nuts and water in hand. I love this show. As I’m sitting there waiting for it to start (and listening to that repetitive and annoying music play over and over and over) I flashback to my trip to DHS with my dad on New Year’s Eve. He is a total car guy and I remember watching him watch the show that night. We had just gotten the word that I had gotten the job I wanted and we were celebrating and having a great father/daughter day in the parks. It was, we knew, possibly the last time we would get to Disney together now that I was moving out of Florida. And I remember my dad leaning over to me after the show and saying “That was worth the price of admission right there” and then he took my hand and we made our way out of the stadium.

Now what? I wanted to see Muppets 3-D because I haven’t seen that show in quite awhile. However, I think everyone else at the stunt show thought the same thing and the line looked like it went on forever. New plan, head over to TOT and Rock n rollercoaster for a few thrills. On my way, I passed the Publics Works Guys out for some streetmosphere so I pulled up some curb and laughed along with the crowd. A quick glance at my watch showed that it was 6:00. I need to make some serious decisions. Early or late Fantasmic? If late, what do I do until 8:00? A quick glance at the Tower of Terror time board showed only a 10 minute wait so it was time to do some screaming.

Ok, 6:15. What now? I decide to walk up to the Fantasmic studio and see how busy it looked. If I couldn’t get the seat I wanted, I would come back for the second show. The theatre wasn’t crowded at all so I stayed. I got a pretzel and cheese (and diet coke) for dinner and found a spot about halfway down on the aisle in the center and settled in to people watch until the show. I chatted with the family behind me who were tons of fun. I had to shake my head at the people who come pouring into the theatre at 5 minutes to show time and then expect to find seats in the center for their family. I know some people don’t Dis, I know some people are there for the first time, but come on. Do you go to a movie theatre at the last minute for a really popular movie and expect to get great seats?

Fantasmic is my favorite show in all of Disney. I could see it over and over. And I cry, a lot. I cry when Mickey’s hands shoot pyro, I cry for the jungle animals, I cry for the princesses. Oh, and to quote my friend Rob (who was not with me at this point) I am a big hot mess from the appearance of the steamboat until the lights go out. This show makes me believe in all the magic and renews my belief that Disney is the right place for me to vacation for a long time to come.

The bus back to POFQ was a challenge. Contrary to some, POR and POFQ share a bus from DHS. That’s a lot of people to move around. Since it was only about 8:20, I decided I was in no hurry so I pulled up a bench and waited for the crowds to die down a bit. After 4 buses came and went, it was finally time for me to get in line and go home and just in time too. The late Fantasmic was starting. Back at the resort, I stopped by the gift shop to pick up my package and headed up to the room. I was just planning to grab my mug and head back down to refill it. However, my phone was flashing again. This time, there was a message that there was an envelope for me at the front desk. What? I grab my mug and head down. The first stop is the front desk. I rip into the envelop and then have to find a seat before I fell down. Some really wonderful people had sent me $100 Disney gift card to spend on my vacation. I couldn’t believe it. I have really wonderful friends. And the dreaming began. What could I spend it on? Off to bed to dream Disney dreams.

Up next: What DID I spend my present on?

[QUOTE=Stacybaeasm;28455286] And while crocs are ugly and people who wear them SHOULD be made fun of, they are sooooo comfortable and they actually kept me up and moving around.

I bought crocs special for my trip... I ended up with blisters on the top of my feet:headache: I usually wear the generic kind from walmart, but with socks (I know... I'm a geek) So I splurged on a real pair and DOH!!!

As I was going down the Streets of America, I smelled that delicious smell – you know the one – the warm glazed nuts. Oh, I totally have time to stop for some of them.

Yummmmm!!!!!!!!

I flashback to my trip to DHS with my dad on New Year’s Eve.

       OMG that is such a wonderful story!!!

:sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Fantasmic is my favorite show in all of Disney. I could see it over and over.

Me too!!!!!

I do have really awesome friends. The card was signed so I know who sent it. I am just protecting their identity (Disboard protection program and all). I called the next morning to thank them profusely and let them know that I had pretty much spent every penny of it in my head already

Great updates!

How awesome that your friends surprised you with a gift card! :wizard:

I have a confession... I've never seen Fantasmic. But hearing you talk about it I may have to correct that.

Which I will do on the condition that you give Epcot another chance! ;) I believe others have mentioned the secret recipe (aka Grey Goose/Grand Marnier slushies! )

By the way, I love the sweater set you were wearing on Epcot day.

Ok, it's a deal. I will go to Epcot and drink, I mean give it another chance and you see Fantasmic. I actually saw that show 3 times during my vacation and cried each time.

And thanks for the complement on the clothes. Believe it or not, that's just a t-shirt. I love it because it looks like a sweater set on it's own but also looks pretty great under a jacket for work.

When I went to bed Wednesday night, I had 2 plans for the next day – morning extra magic hours at the Magic Kingdom and hopefully, a meeting with I luv Crush/Paula. We had hoped to meet up on Monday at MNSSHP, but that hadn’t worked out so we were maybe going to see each other at DHS sometime today. Alas, the best laid plans and all of that. I did not make extra magic hours. In fact, I didn’t even manage to get out of bed until 8:00am. I hadn’t realized how tired I was. I even contemplated sleeping longer (it IS vacation after all) but decided I can sleep at home, this is DISNEY! I was up and out by 8:30 and caught a bus to the MK and was there a little before 9:00.

As soon as I got through the gates,
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0089.jpg
I saw Chip and Dale. Yay! Pictures with the chipmunks.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0079.jpg
They were wonderful and then it was time for breakfast. The line at the Main Street Bakery was out the door, but I was waiting. I had a cinnamon roll in my sights and I wasn’t leaving without one. While I was savoring the deliciousness of that special breakfast treat, I texted my friend David who dances in the castle show. He was not performing today, so I could skip the show if I wanted.

Ok, off to Toontown. I have to be honest, I knew this part of the MK existed, but I never really spent any time here. In fact, I can only remember being there once, and it was with my niece who discovered Goofy’s Barnstormer. I think my little angel rode that thing 7 or 8 times that night. Luckily, after ride 2 or 3, I passed her off to her dad and just watched. Sorry, back to the present, I got to Toontown about 10:15 or so and the line for the princesses was already 90 minutes long. There were 2 cast members right at the start of the line, telling people this in case they missed the posted sign. I was ok with the wait so I got in line. The 2 families in front of me were adorable. Their little girls hit it off and I watched them play for an hour and a half. The folks behind me, not so adorable. It was 90 minutes of listening to them complain about the wait. When we got close to the front of the line, they complained every time the CM’s took people back that they weren’t taking ENOUGH people back. The woman tried to drag me into her complaining but I was still in Disney mellow mode. I just commented that it looked like the princesses were taking good, quality time with each child and I was certainly willing to wait my turn for that.

It was finally my turn to go into the royal chambers. I started tearing up before it was even my turn, just watching how wonderful each character was with the kids. They talked, signed autographs, kneeled on the floor to get on the same level, and gave 100’s of hugs. Being there by myself (and clearly without any sort of kid in sight) I didn’t expect them to take that kind of time with me. I expected “Smile for the picture” and thanks for coming, NEXT. However, each princess took the same amount of time with me, just chatting, posing for several pictures, answering questions, all the while staying completely in character and displaying tons of grace and charm. Cinderella was funny because she remembered me from the day before. As I went up to her to have a picture taken, she looked at me and said “Didn’t we see each other yesterday?” I looked closer and sure enough, she was the Cinderella from Epcot. Memory points for her.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0083.jpg

Of course, the Holy Grail for me was Belle, in the gold dress. She is my favorite (I may have mentioned this before). Bless that girl; she met me with open arms, even as I started forward to hug her with tears clearly in my eyes. Oh, she was amazing. Ok, this is how big a geek I am. Right before I left, I had my nails painted to match her dress, which of course, like an 8 year old, I had to show her. She seemed tickled and mentioned that my wardrobe must be incredibly smart and help me dress like hers does.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/Stacybaeasm/100_0086.jpg
I must have hugged her about a million times and the photo CM’s just kept snapping pictures.

My trip was now complete. Everything else I did was gravy at this point.

My gift card was starting to burn a hole in my pocket so I set off to do some shopping. I love the antenna toppers for cars so I bought a couple of those and then headed for the Christmas Shoppe. I had purchased an ornament for some friends in here earlier in the trip and seen something I wanted, but I didn’t buy because I was saving money. Ahh…the princess collection of ornaments. I can’t wait to put my tree up now! I sent everything back to my hotel room, and decided to see about some rides.

Philharmagic was seating so I went in. I just really love this attraction as I’m sure I’ve mentioned. This time, I sang along to myself and let myself reach for the jewels and things, just like a kid. I then headed over to Splash. The line was pretty short so I jumped on and got wet, but not drenched. I noticed they had the big splash turned down for the entire week, which I appreciate. About now, I decided I was hungry again and I was also ready for a rest. I jumped on the train and rode it around to Main Street. As I came out of the train station, I heard the Main Street Brass Band playing so I walked over and listened until the end of the set. Those guys are good and great showmen too. And clearly, they are enjoying their jobs and playing together. Ok, time to catch a bus back to POFQ and get some lunch.

Up next: back to DHS. Do I ever meet up with Paula? (No fair giving hints Paula)

Hi, I'm really enjoying your trip report so far. I'm planning my next trip for next year, and really like hearing about yours.

That is so cool about the ToT elevator all to yourself. Hands down, it's my favorite ride.

And Belle in her gold dress, that's just great!

Love the update. I will say that although I don't cry during the shows, I do LOVE them!! I love the car toppers too. I should've bought a couple of packs last time I was down there, but I'm too cheap and only bought 3. I know I can get them at the Disney Store, but I enjoy seeing the "WaltDisneyWorld" stamp on the topper. It makes me feel important. :rotfl:
I wish I had friends that gave me Disney money. None of my friends get the obsession that I have with the World. My husband doesn't even get it. :confused3
About Crocs. You are right in that they are ugly. But, last time I was at Disney, I wore my tennis shoes, and ended up buying a new pair of Crocs because my feet hurt in my tennis shoes. I wore the Crocs the rest of the time.
Can't wait to hear if you met up with Iluvcrush.

I loved having my crocs with me for this trip. The switching of shoes really helped my heel problem and kept my knees in fairly good working order (of course, the Alieve didn't hurt either!) If only they weren't so ugly. I know there are different styles, but i think the cushioning isn't as good. Oh well, I'd rather have ugly feet and still be walking around on day 7 than be stylish and not moving!

That trip with my dad was great. I was sad Mom couldn't join us, but she wasn't feeling well. We volunteered to skip it but we all kind of knew that our Disney trips together were coming to an end because I was moving out of Florida. The best part of the day was seeing my dad at Fantasmic! We held hands through most of the show, when he wasn't trying to take pictures. I have a great family and I am blessed that I get to share special moments with them.

Sounds like you were a big hot mess! :scared:

Are you truly suprised by this? I mean really, it was BELLE in the GOLD DRESS! You know how I feel about that princess.

I caught some lunch at the resort and a quick rest and then it was time to head back out. I was going to DHS for a second viewing of Fantasmic. In my trip plotting, I had it figured out so I could see Fantasmic 3 times, Wishes twice, and Hallowishes once. That’s right, I never saw Illuminations. My dislike of Epcot spills over into that. I like the fireworks and pyro; I just get bored when the globe comes out. Anyway, on the bus on the way to DHS, I realize that I never heard from IluvCrush. I double checked my phone to be sure I hadn’t missed a call or text. Hmm, oh well, maybe her plans changed. I regret not getting her phone number but what can you do.

Oh, I interrupt this trip report to go back to MNSSHP night. I had forgotten about this conversation until today when I was talking to IluvCrush. So, Rob and I are on our way to MNSSHP on the bus and discussing the night. Here is a mostly accurate transcript of an exchange.
Me: Oh, and we need to keep our eyes open for Paula from the Dis.
Rob: Who?
Me: You know, IluvCrush. From the Disboards.
Rob: (looking at me like I’m crazy) OK. What does she look like?
Me: I don't know.
Rob: What costume is she wearing?
Me: I don't think she is wearing a costume.
Rob: So, you want me to be on the lookout for a woman you've never seen, whose description you don't have, and who's not wearing a costume?
Me: Umm...yes.
Rob: (knowing he's lost the battle and most of his mind) Ok then.:rotfl:

Ok, back to the trip report, still in progress. No meeting with Paula. Maybe next time. Anyway, I headed straight for Fantasmic since there was only one showing of it tonight. I was early enough to be right at the front of the pack with some very nice families. One of the daughters was having a bit of a melt down. I could tell she was exhausted and the parents were kind of at their wits end. So, I leaned down into the stroller and starting talking to the little girl about who she was going to see that night and who her favorite character was, etc. She calmed down right away and we had a lovely chat. I caught the mom’s eye over the stroller and she mouthed “Thank you.” You bet. Everyone needs a bit of magic at some point.:wizard:

Rope drop and the masses start to move. Suddenly, I am shoved to the side. What? There’s no pushing and running at Fantasmic! I see 10 teens with “Robojet” shirts on pushing everyone out of the way, running to right behind the CM, and then linking arms to prevent anyone from getting around them. :scared1: I heard a lot of muttering from the people who got pushed aside but no one seemed to be doing anything about it. I decided to let it go. I mean, I was still at the front of the pack and there are lots of seats, right? I get into the amphitheatre and head right to the concession stand to get some dinner while I’m waiting for the show. Tonight’s snack item was the nachos with cheese and a diet coke. Ok, clearly not nutrition at its finest (and the second night I have “dined” at the concession stand in Fantasmic) but hey, it’s a Disney vacation!

Anyway, I turn around and go to get a seat. The Robojet kids have spread out over the ENTIRE Mickey section, trying to save seats. I then see several flags and adults and hear them talking to each other. Yep, the Brazilians have struck. And, the squabbles begin. Ten or 12 of them are trying to hold the entire section for their group by laying down on the benches, laying flags across the benches, and generally yelling at people who try to sit there. Other people are not having any of it and are throwing flags into walkways and almost sitting on the kids and lots and lots of yelling. Finally, I see a CM start toward the front of the commotion. I pull her aside and tell her about the pushing on the walk up and what I have observed so far. She heads right for the tour leader and tells her she can’t save all these seats. Tour leader plays the “I don’t speak English card,” smiles and starts to walk away. Oh but wait, the CM busts out the same speech in tour leader’s language. The smile quickly fades and an argument ensues. Now, since no one seems to be in danger of getting hurt, I’m considering this a lovely example of dinner theatre. Finally, the group has to condense a lot. More and more red Robojet shirted people keep showing up and quite frankly, as awful and un-Disneylike as this is, I was silently dancing in my seat when a whole group of 20 or more showed up at 5 minutes to show time and didn’t get a good seat. :cutie:

Show time! Now, I had seen this show last night and have, in fact, seen it more times than I can count. Recently, there hasn’t been a show where EVERYTHING worked. There was always a little something off – Mickey’s pyro hands don’t work, the snake doesn’t move, no pyro on the Steamboat, etc. Tonight was a really special night. It all worked!!! There was a brief moment of panic when one of the monkey boats hit the front wall pretty hard. It knocked one of them completely off his feet. I saw the other 2 monkeys look over, shrug, and sit; continuing the choreography with just their upper body until the boat got off the wall and disappeared backstage. Other than that, I saw it all. And once again, I was a big, crying mess.

Time to head back to the resort for some sleep. I have big plans for tomorrow during the day. I need to finish everything on my to do list by 4:00 or so because the aunt and uncle will be here by dinner, Rob a little after that, and the boys come on Saturday. Friday was really my last free day and I didn’t want to go into all the “company” with things I still felt I needed to do. The line for the bus went back 2 or 3 bus stops! Yikes!!! :headache: I couldn’t believe it. No way was I standing in a line longer than the Toy Story Mania line to get home. I pulled up a bench and waited for over an hour before the line finally died enough for me to get on. Oh well, sitting on a bench in Disney is still better than sitting on my couch at home doing nothing!

Up next: Do I finish my to do list before company comes?

PS - I MAY have just found a way around my photobucket issues. I'm going back to try to post pictures in my previous entry!

I got up fairly early today because I had several things I needed to accomplish before 5:00 when the aunt and uncle were coming. Man, I am tired. I have never actually spent an entire week at the House of Mouse before. When I lived in Sarasota, we would come up for a day at a time (leave my house at 6:30am and get back about 1:30 or 2:00am). This vacation was hard core. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining at all. I’m already dreaming of the next trip (in a couple of dreams, this is a literal statement) and I wish I could stay longer. But, none of that detracts from the fact that I was tired. I could sleep but instead, I decided that if I ate a good breakfast, that would get me moving. I headed to the food court with about a million of my closest friends for a yummy breakfast before I headed out to Magic Animals. Let me just say, tired people should just not be given that many choices for breakfast. I ended up sticking with the biscuits and gravy because I already knew I liked it and everything else involved syrup and I thought sugar might be an enemy right now.

Ok, off to Magic Animals. I only have 2 things on my still must do list: Everest and Finding Nemo. I hadn’t gotten to ride Everest in awhile and quite frankly, I’ve never seen that darn yeti. I was determined today. Nemo – well, I was going because I have a friend who plays Marlon (you know, Nemo’s dad). I could probably live without seeing the show (it’s good but it’s no Festival of the Lion King) but I try to support any working actors that I know. Now, was I smart and call him to be sure he was performing? Nope. Didn’t think about that until later. Anyway, once in the park I headed straight for Everest. My plan was to get a fast pass, then get in line for Nemo. The fast pass gods were on my side because my time was 11:45-12:45, right about the time I would be exiting Nemo. I started to head over to the theatre when I glanced at my sport watch (Hi Mel if you’re reading :wave2: ) and realized it was only 10:30. Hmmm…still time to kill. Hello single rider line. In less than 10 minutes, I was screaming my lungs out. But, somehow I missed the Yeti again. I think I close my eyes because of the strobes and therefore miss the hairy beast (wait. Shout out to ZZUB if HE’S reading. :lmao: ) I feel disappointment for a minute until I remember I still have a fast pass for later.

Off to Nemo. It’s while I’m waiting in line that the thought of calling Dave hits me. I don’t have his phone number. Ok, now what? Wait, I’ll call Rob. He will have Dave’s number AND I will get to taunt him with the fact that I’m at Disney and he’s at work. I know he’ll be here this evening, but still. After only tormenting Rob for a minute (he was at work after all :surfweb: ) I give Dave a call. Naturally, I get his voice mail. My phone rings about 2 minutes later and its Nemo’s Dad! Unfortunately, he isn’t doing the first show today BUT he was pulling into the parking lot so I could see him for a minute after the show. Nemo is a good time. I was closer to the stage than I’ve ever been so I could see more of the actors. They really do a nice job with this and I love the bubbles at the end. After the show, I meet Dave at the cast entrance and we chat for a minute but he has to get into costume and puppet and I have a yeti to track.

Back to Everest. The stand-by line is still posted at only about 30 minutes but the single rider line looks like its pretty long. Should I use my fast pass or just wait and give it to someone else? Nope, the weight of my list of things still to be done is weighing me down so I use the fast pass. Great ride again and this time I saw the yeti! :yay: Part of my problem all along is that I have been looking for a white yeti. Ohhh the wasted time. Oh well, I saw her and she is magnificent (even if she is in mode B for the rest of my life.)

Time to head to the Magic Kingdom. A bus was waiting as I walk up and there was almost no one on it! I think my karma is pretty good here on my last solo day. As we’re driving to the MK, I realize I have yet to ride on the monorail. How have I been here 6 days with no monorail? YIKES! Luckily, park buses take you to the TTC. Monorail, here I come! And yes, it was everything I remember and more.

Once inside (and after I’m done standing and staring at the castle with a tear in my eye :lovestruc ), I get some popcorn and a diet coke and stake out a great spot for the parade. Yep, the last thing I need to cross off my list is the parade. I found a terrific spot on Main Street, in the shade, by a trash can to lean against, and settled in. I usually watch the parade in the hub, but wanted to try something new. A really nice family came over and sat beside me to eat some ice cream. About 20 minutes until the parade, they started to get up. I overheard (ok, I eavesdrop in the parks) them saying they were going to do some shopping and then come back for the parade. Being the helpful Disser that I am, I barged right into their conversation. “You know, you won’t get a great spot like this if you leave now.” The dad starts to deny my statement when about 10 people accost him. “Are you leaving? Can we have your spot?” I see the light bulb go on and he and his family settle back in to wait for the parade.

The parade was fabulous, as always. I always seem to get a lot of attention from the people in the parade. I always thought it was because I clapped for everyone (which may be part of it). But today, I realized that some of it is, they think I work there. I sing along for the entire parade and I think THEY think that no one else would know the words. I am often mistaken for a CM while out and about (I think my lanyard looks like one of theirs) so that may play a part too. On my way back to the entrance, I stop by the photopass place. I had decided to spend the rest of my gift card on photos and it was time to pick some out.

I ended up picking out 6 photos – Rob and I holding Tink, Rob and I in front of the Haunted Mansion at MNSSHP, Belle (blue dress) and I, Belle (gold dress) and I, Minnie and I, and Rob and I in front of the castle lit up for MNSSHP. I now faced my second biggest battle of my vacation, trying to get the very nice photo guy to actually SELL me my pictures. He kept trying to talk me out of buying them right now. I know there was a discount for MNSSHP pictures purchased online and probably some other discount, but I know myself. I was never getting back to picture if I didn’t do it right then. There was one point the man even asked me if I shouldn’t, perhaps, ask my husband before making a final decision. My what? Oh, you mean Rob? Yeah, not my husband but I’ll be sure to let his girlfriend know you thought he was. Finally, after about an hour, I convinced him I really did want to give Mickey more of my money (Ok, my friends’ money since I was using the rest of the gift card) and I walked out with 6 terrific photos. It was now time to head back to the resort and wait for the arrival of the aunt and uncle. Goodbye solo trip.

Up next: My aunt decides it’s time to get HER ride on

Ok... I just did this update to my TR... but so everyone here at Stacy's TR knows that I'm not a completely inconsiderate DISser, and blow off meets:rotfl: I figured I'd copy it here.

Hope that's OK Stacy!! I'm cool with everybody knowing I'm a bit of a goof, but I wouldn't want them thinking I was purposely rude:lmao:

... An excerpt from "Mom needed a Break...no laundry, no hubby, no kids...sorta. A SOLO TR!!

After lunch, I tried to call Stacybeasem. She had PMd me her phone# right before she left to come down... I hadn't PMd mine back...I doon't know why. So this meet was ALL on MY shoulders!!

OK, before I continue... I need to give you a little background story that occured during my PTR... that wasn't posted. I have a dear friend that I've been close with ever since high school... I'm going to call him Sully

I don't see Sully very often...maybe every few years, because he's in the military. Sully was, until last month, in Iraq... so to help pass the time, I sent him oveer to read my PTR... so I could tell him all about the plans for my trip. Well, Sully is a mite overprotective. He gave me lots of advice about what I should/not say in my PTR to prevent stalkers (since I was going alone). I wasn't as worried, cause I figured if I hadn't had a stalker back in the days when I was young and skinny and cute... why whould I get one now But, I digress! Well, I followed Sully's advice, even though I thought he was being a tad overly cautious

Back to DHS. So I call Stacy. I had programmed the # into my cell phone before I had left home. The phone rings a few times, then finally I get an answer. OMG!! STACY'S a MAN!!! an OLD MAN!!! I hadn't seen a pic, but thru our PMs I thought she was a SHE! OMG Sully was right!!! I had no idea what I was going to say... now I didn't know if I wanted to go thru with the meet.

So I say..."um hi, is this Stacy??"
pirate: {silence}
Me: hello??
pirate: "who are you looking for?"
Me: 'Stacy, from the DIS boards'
pirate: 'I have a dog named Stacy'
Me: "OK... are you at WDW??"
pirate: "huh??? I live in (I don't remember what he said)"
Me: "were you the person I was talking with on the computer about WDW?"
pirate: "I don't have a computer... leave me alone"
{click}

Well, apparently, I put the REAL Stacy's # in my phone wrong I felt like an idiot.... but at least no one but this poor old dude was witness to it

OK.. now back to the regularly scheduled program:thumbsup2

I got back to the resort about 4:45 and figured I had about an hour to rest before the family arrived. They were leaving after work and had a 2 hour drive so I figured it would be 5:30 or so before they even got to the hotel, let alone over to me. They had tried to get a room at POFQ but they were sold out for the weekend! :confused3 Of course, I no sooner had my shoes off then the phone rings. They were at the hotel, checked in, and headed to DTD to catch a bus to me. I suggested they get on the boat instead and then put on my shoes and headed down to the boat dock to wait. Of course I knew it would take awhile but it was gorgeous outside so I took my book and sat on a bench and waited.

Soon enough, aunt and uncle were getting off the boat. I haven’t seen them since I moved out of Florida. While I lived there, we were able to have breakfast together on Sundays (when I wasn’t in rehearsal) and they also came out to see my shows. We headed to the food court to get some dinner and make a plan for the next day and a half. It was important for me to find out what the aunt wanted to do. This was really her portion of the trip. We needed to get in all the rides that she loves because my uncle won’t ride and she won’t go alone. Over dinner, we planned to head to MK to do those rides (and let me see Wishes one last time). Rob was catching up with us on Saturday and we would hit Magic Animals and DHS.

We got to MK right before the first Spectro was going to start. Neither the aunt nor uncle wanted to watch so we headed through the top secret Noodle Station pass to get to Tommorrowland and Space Mountain. It took about 4 minutes for the complaints to start. Why are there so many people? Why is it still so hot? (Umm…they live in Florida this shouldn’t be a surprise.) Why are people so dumb? Etc, etc, etc. Ok, now I understand why they don’t do Disney. The wait for Space Mountain was about 50 minutes but fast passes were gone so the aunt and I jumped in line while the uncle pulled up a bench. While we were in line, I talked to the aunt about possibly leaving the uncle at the hotel the next day. I felt he was going to be completely miserable with heat and crowds and nothing to do most of the day but wait for us to get off rides. She said he wouldn’t even consider it. Right, it’s going to be a really long day. Note to self, talk to Rob and prepare him.

We were on course to be off the ride well before the 50 minute mark when the music stopped and the dreaded announcement came on. Yep, the ride broke down. Not only that, they were turning on the lights to get people off the ride. YIKES! :scared1: We decided to wait a bit in line to see what would happen. Sure enough, about 15 minutes later, they did a test run, shut off the lights, and we were back in business. I have to say, the ride was smoother tonight than it was when Rob and I rode on the first day. Thank goodness since I had JUST gotten my insides back in place.

We found the uncle (who complained a lot about how long we took) and headed off to the hub to watch Wishes. We were late getting there so we didn’t get a great spot but hey, it was still Wishes! My uncle made a friend with someone in front of us and they complained together until the show started. After I had my crying jag again, we headed off to Splash and Big Thunder. Wait, I needed a pit stop first though. I still had one major snack I needed to eat before I could leave – a big chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich. Yep, that didn’t help temperaments at all. First, we had to push through the crowd that had *gasp* FOREIGNERS in it and then we had to wait in line and then wait while we ate. I think some of my Disney mellow is starting to leave.

Splash and Big Thunder were both pretty quick and easy. It was getting close to park close. I mentioned to the aunt that the only “Big” thing left in the park was Pirates. She said the uncle liked that ride so we gathered him up and headed off. Whoops. Poor planning on my part. I forgot the 2nd Spectro and we got trapped by the parade at the base of Splash. And this is where I completely lost my Disney mellow for a moment. I am not proud of the story that follows, but it happened.

My aunt is a small woman (like 5’3” and fairly petite). I was constantly worried about her getting squished in crowds. We found a place to stand to watch the parade about 3 people back from the rope. The aunt was “in front”, the uncle directly behind her, and I was off to the side a bit. We were there about 3 minutes when these 2 tweens came pushing through to get to the front. They were both bigger than my aunt and they shoved her HARD to get by. Ok, that’s not going to happen again so I expanded a big (hands on my hips) to protect her. Someone was going to have to get by me to push her. Right before the parade ended, I felt someone put a hand in the center of my back and shove me hard. There was no way that was an accident but I was going to let it go anyway when suddenly this man got in my face and started screaming. “Hey you fat witch (but spelled with a “b”) do you mind if I get up to my kids? Why are you such a witch? Get out of my way!” etc, etc. I hung on to my temper by my fingernails because the things I wanted to say were not Disney friendly and there were kids (other than his) in the area. I realized quickly that he wanted to get to the tweens who pushed my aunt so I replied “Actually, we have all been waiting patiently here to cross the street so I do mind if you go ahead. However, I would be happy to call your kids back to you.” Yeah, wrong thing to say. He shoved me really hard to the side and kept screaming really bad words. And here is where I was wrong. As I was righting myself from the shove, I threw a hip check at him. And, as you can see from the pictures I’ve posted, that’s not a small thing to have coming at you. He fell forward a bit but kept going. From out of nowhere, his wife suddenly appeared and got in my face, screaming curses I don’t think I’ve ever heard. She was getting really aggressive and looked like she wanted to go a couple of rounds. My uncle (who is NOT a small man and a self-proclaimed Jersey redneck) was getting ready to get involved and my aunt was already starting to yell back at the woman. Oh dear. I just looked at this stranger and said “Lady, there are kids present. You keep this up and I will knock you down and sit on you until security gets here.” Her eyes got really big and then she and the rest of the anger family walked off down the street.

Ok, what just happened? Did I really just get in a physical confrontation at Disney? In all of my trips, this has never, never happened. Oh, this does not bode well for tomorrow when I have not only the aunt and uncle, but Rob and the boys thrown in the mix. I need drinks, lots and lots of drinks. But, that’s not going to happen. Instead, I lead the way to Pirates. No way was that fight going to get in the way of my last hours at Disney. The Davey Jones projection wasn’t working at Pirates which makes the mist thing just weird but the rest of the ride was fun. After that, it was time to make our way to the front of the park. We got to the hub and I realized this was my last visit to the MK until next year. I needed a moment to look at the castle and cry a bit. (I’m tearing up as I type this. I am such a sap.) Of course, the uncle can’t figure out what’s happening. “What is she doing? Why is she just standing there? It’s just a dumb castle.” My aunt, however, gets it. She comes over and says “Do you want to go up and kiss the castle? That’s what we used to do when we were leaving. I’ll go with you.” No, but thanks. I just need a minute.

Alright, I’m good now. We get to the front gates and get ready to separate. Our plan is to meet at Magic Animals at 9:00am tomorrow morning. I head off to the POFQ bus and give Rob a call. He has made it back to the room and lets me know that there is a fresh diet coke in my mug already waiting for me in the room. What a great friend! We spend a bit catching up when I get back to the room and then lights out. We need to get enough sleep to deal with the last day of vacation.

Up next: How does the last day go? Can this group spend a day together without a fight?

Yay for aunt and uncle being there.

Boo for that stupid family...especially the parents. It's not your fault their kids ran ahead and are (I'm assuming here, so making an a@@ of myself most likely) uncontrolable by jerk dad and witch mom. I think you did a great job of handling the situation...especially by not spewing words not suitable for all ears. Had it been me in your situation, I would have had to bite my tongue and made some cheeky comment as I let them pass me. So, kudo's to you.

And every time you mention tearing up...I get all sappy and think "that is soooooooo going to be me in another 40 days." :D

And Rob is the bestes friend ever. I mean, come on...a fresh mug of diet coke? Awesomeness. Give him a hug for me next time you see him. :D

Well, I still feel badly about hip checking him. He could have fallen on an innocent bystander and that's not fair. but yes, the only reason there weren't really bad words flying out of my mouth was because of Disney.

40 days until you go!!!! I'm so jealous. I wish I could get back this year (especially with the new deal) but...work is a harsh task master.

And you are right. Rob is the bestest friend. I won't get to see him for awhile, but I'll pass on the hug request to his girlfriend who just found out she can go visit for Thanksgiving. Yay Christine!!!

I am an Equity Stage Manager for a musical theatre in St. Louis. Theatre is a small world so I do know a lot of performers and Stage managers at Disney. If you get a union gig there, it's a pretty decent job. I wish I could get one, but there is much less of a call for Stage managers than performers. It's ok though, I get to do musicals again for a living. The 3 years I spent living in Florida I was working for a theatre, but it was mostly non-musicals. It was good work, but I need people to burst into song and dance to stay happy...kind of like banana man

Rob and I were up and moving about fairly early on Saturday. We needed to get showered, grab breakfast, and be at Magic Animals by 9 am to meet the aunt and uncle. The plan was to get on Everest and then get out of the park and meet the boys at DHS. Ahh, the best laid plans or something like that.

We got off to a late start (not our fault.) The aunt and uncle had trouble getting a bus from their hotel and ended up having to go to MK and DHS first. We weren’t running too far behind but we needed to get moving in order to meet the boys by 10. Unfortunately, we passed a Kali River Rapids sign on the way to Everest and the aunt was not moving on until she rode it. Kali is one of the few rides I won’t do all the time. I really didn’t want to be soaking wet at 9:20 in the morning. Rob, however, being the great guy that he is, was in so the uncle and I pulled up a bench and waited. Rob was drenched when they got off the ride; the aunt had scarcely a drop on her. Luckily, Rob didn’t mind and wanted to share the water by giving everyone a big hug. :lmao:

We then got to Everest and there was not much of a wait at all. The aunt had never done this ride and she loved it! I think she would have done it again and again if we didn’t have to get going. I thought we were set to head to the bus to DHS when Rob said “What about Dinosaur?” I had hoped to avoid Dinosaur because I thought it might be too rough. I know I walk off bruised each time. The aunt was in though so off we went. Poor uncle. All he did was walk from ride to ride and wait. We got on the ride in record time and ended up with front row seats. Now, I have to say, I LOVE riding with Rob. He totally gets into the theme and plays along. I think I heard him screaming “abort, abort” for most of the ride, which made me laugh, which gave me really sore stomach muscles. But, a good time was had by all.

Ok, time to get back on schedule. (I am a very schedule driven person, if you can’t tell. Not my fault. It’s part of being a stage manager. Or maybe I’m a stage manager because I’m a schedule driven person. I forget.) We hope a bus to DHS and give the boys a call to let them know we are on the way. They are in line for a ride so we’ll catch up when we can. Once inside the gate, we head right to Toy Story to get fast passes. The line was 90 minutes long and even at 10:30am, the fast passes were for 7:00pm. YIKES! :scared1: Ok, we grab fast passes and head to the aunt’s top choices – Tower of Terror and Rockin Rollercoaster. Of course, we had to make a Diet Coke stop first. We then showed the uncle where to wait and jumped in line. As we were walking, the aunt realized that she had switched to her sunglasses and that she wouldn’t be able to see inside unless she got her regular glasses so she ran off to find the uncle and trade glasses. Now, I try really hard not to be one of those people who have others “join” them in line so Rob and I hung back in a corner until the aunt caught up. Sure, about 20 people got in front of us but that’s basically one elevator and the line just wasn’t that long.

Oh, the aunt LOVED TOT. :cloud9: I wish we could have gotten back on it that day but I was the slowpoke in our party. Everyone else was fresh and raring to go but I was feeling the previous 6 days of parks and also dreading the 4am wake up call the next morning. I just wasn’t up to darting across the parks or running from ride to ride. Anyway, as we were walking to see Aerosmith, the boys caught up with us. Yay! I hadn’t seen either of them since I moved out of Florida in Feb. and we had a lot to catch up on. Conveniently, the line for RNR was 50 minutes so we had plenty of time to chat. I think the uncle thought we had forgotten about him by the time we got back.

It was now lunch time. We all had rumbly tumblies and we were headed to the other side of the park. We ended up at that outdoor CS place across from Beauty and the Beast that has burgers and pizza, etc. This time, we WERE one of those groups. We found a table and then 2 of us sat while the other 4 went to get lunch. When someone came to the table, we rotated. I picked the wrong line and by the time I got my food and got to the table, everyone else was finished eating. They all seemed to be in a hurry and I think my Disney mellow slipped a bit. I sat and said “I am NOT going to eat this in a hurry. If you guys want to go, go. I’ll catch up.” Not realizing that I was slipping into a dangerous mood, the uncle decided to tease. He said “hey. Who has the fast passes for Toy Story?” I said “I do.” “Really. Where?” “Right here on my lanyard.” I reached down to show him and realized that the plastic pocket had ripped off my lanyard and was gone. :headache: I was upset, to put it mildly. That pocket had my ticket, our fast passes, my KTTW, my MNSSHP ticket that I was saving as a souvenir, and my gift card. Rob, knowing my moods far better than anyone else, immediately stepped in and said “We have it. It was on the ground by the table and someone noticed and gave it to us.” Oh, my mellow and my happiness are slipping. Am I going to make it through the day?

Up next: The end of the last day. Do we make it?

PS – the next update may take until next Monday. I’m still in rehearsals and we are getting ready for tech. I have meetings upon meetings after an 8 hour day of rehearsal so I will probably not have time to get anything written. Hang in there! Yes Rob, this means you.

Your job sounds like a lot of fun, but a lot of hard work. I lived in Belleville, IL back in the late 70's early 80's and we'd go to St Louis every Christmas and watch the Nutcracker in a really old theater downtown and eat at the The Old Spaghetti Factory. I can't remember the name of the theater, but I remember that we would have to dress up. I LOVED it. I felt so grown up when we went there.

Hey - no marshing the Disney mellow! It's not allowed EVER!!!

That being said, Rob is the best match for me at Disney. He puts up with my obsessive scheduling (even though I don't take my multitude of watches), likes all the same things as I do, and basically lets me make the decisions. Except the decision for him to eat a Foot long Chili Dog AND a turkey leg AND cotton candy for dinner and then sleep in the same hotel room as me. That decision is his and his alone.

I'm all caught up now and really enjoying your TR! so sad it's almost over. A "sort of" solo trip would be awesome. Companionship much of the time but also a chance to follow your own whims.

That is why I loved having my SIL on my last trip. She and I both love the same things but she has no interest in research or planning. I get to by my obsessive planner and she loves that she reaps the benefits! Someday she and I will do a girls only trip complete with drinking around the world including the YUMMY grey goose slushies. Seriously Stacy, you HAVE to hunt down this stand next time you are in Epcot. Maybe you will even find that hidden love for the place and enjoy Illuminations!

Can't wait for the finale of your trip

Did your trip report die a horribly tragic death?

Can't wait to see you in Minnesota. It'll be like WDW but with the added fear of freezing to death, the rides being more like driving on ice avoiding deer and the small world residents are actual babies screaming and crying instead of singing (well I guess that won't be too different.) why are we doing this again?

I'd love to hear the "rest of the story". Have fun in Minnesota. DH and moved to Ohio from there. Brrrr....
